What does a move do?

Newbie to Wikipedia procedures here. Test subpage was moved, then deleted. Hello, I made a test user subpage yesterday using the instructions on the Wikipedia "User Pages" help page, just to see if it would work. Decided to use it to keep notes on pages I'm looking at (i.e. notes on what needs to be fixed). As far as I know. this is an acceptable use of a user subpage. Took me awhile to figure out the formatting language, but I finally finished putting my info on the subpage. Then I saw that someone else moved it, and that you subsequently deleted it (LOL). However, I can still see the page, including the new info. Not that big of a deal since I can always make another, but am quite confused. Do I need to make another page, or was it rescued from deletion once I added info to it? Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks! ~ Big universe (talk) 21:33, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, figured out that the page was moved because I forgot to add "User:" to the page before creating it, so it was created in the "mainspace" instead of my "userspace." But still don't know why the "deleted" page and the info are still visible. Not a concern, though, as long as I can still see/use it. Looked at the link you provided for "Cross-namespace redirects". Not quite sure how this relates to my user subpage, since there were no redirects of any kind involved AFAIK. Perhaps I am misreading or misunderstanding something? Don't want to keep making mistakes resulting from preventable ignorance. Thanks for your time ~ Big universe (talk) 04:40, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Hey there, RHaworth, thanks for the reply! It DID actually occur to me that that might have been the case. Glad for the confirmation. But...didn't quite know how to phrase it well enough to note it on your page (which could have caused further time-wasting confusion, LOL). Decided it was better not to say anything, since my page was still up.

However, your succinct explanation (in addition to what I'd already figured out) has helped me to fully visualize: 1) the complete process of what happened and what needs to be done to correct it; 2) how the "spaces" of Wikipedia are organized and structured relative to each other; and 3) exactly what the heck a "cross-namespace redirect" is (LOL), and how it works. So, thanks for that! Being a newbie sucks. [:(] Quickly piecing together bits of info strewn across different Wiki pages can be time-consuming and confusing--especially after one sees the word "deleted"! There's just no substitute for experience, which only comes with time. *sigh*

Anyway, thanks again & sorry for the inconvenience! ~ Big universe (talk) 21:48, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Black Community Programmes Entry

Good day, I posted a page on Wikipedia sandbox on the Black Community Programmes facilitated by the Black Consciousness Movement in South Africa. After I had posted, I received a notification that the article had been deleted. It is alleged that the entry is an unambiguous copyright infringement of this page however, I have attributed the source and tried to tell the same story but in a different way. Please assist me in highlighting how entry can be improved to meet the required copyright regulations. Thank you very much. The entry was deleted on my sandbox. Regards. Azola Dayile (talk) 07:56, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello RHaworth. Today I came across this article. I thought about accepting it, but then I saw it was protected since 2015 due to non-notable. As far I can see, the current version is made by another user (@Zawl:). I would like to know if the current version differs from the old deleted page, and if page protection can be lifted if the version differs. Regards, » Shadowowl Marcos Rodriguez | t | SPI | AIV | Sandbox | Helpdesk » 18:47, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Your wording should have distinguished between the draft space article and the mainspace one. That the latest version was created by an established user, is good enough for me. I have removed protection from the mainspace title. I have restored the deleted versions in draftspace. If you are really interested, once you have done the move, let me know and I will restore all the deleted edits. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:01, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Why did you delete "uSTEM" page?

Please I would like to know the reasons why you deleted the uSTEM page I created even though I specified the general importance of the page for the Wikipedia users. Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gallo.federico (talkcontribs)

Some editor tagged it for deletion and this admin accepted the request "13:39, 29 September 2017 RHaworth (talk | contribs) deleted page USTEM(A7: Article about an eligible subject, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject)" If you want it restored you need to explain how the topic meets WP:N. Cheers, Legacypac (talk) 16:19, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
Holy shit. I had to double take. You again. As I live and breathe, the guy who deleted Barska Optics when I was attempting to research them has struck again! The second time I've tried to locate information on a company and you're here to rain shit on the knowledge-seeking parade. Small world, Haworth, eh? No surprise, considering you apparently do nothing other than remove information from an informational-based website. You literally have a disclaimer on your talk page regarding disgruntled editors directing you to ALL OF THE DELETED ARTICLES THAT YOU HAVE DELETED BECAUSE YOU CAN'T EVEN KEEP TRACK OF THEM ALL. Would you perhaps take some advice? Maybe stop deleting articles for once and do us all a solid; Create one instead. — The Cake is a Lie T / C 12:47, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
The problem with something like uSTEM is that our sourcing requirements for medical articles are very high, and we can't accept an article on a stem cell research organisation unless there is strong evidence to peer-review journals. The article as I found it also seemed to be over-promoting the language with phrases such as "4 years of R&D have allowed to develop a reprogramming method based on microtechnologies...", "One of the most important consequences of this discovery is the possibility to derive large-scale patients..." and "Being able to develop ad hoc therapies for each patient leads the way for a personalised medicine that takes into account the specificity of the individual". The article would therefore need a rewrite using multiple citations to peer-reviewed journals (more than the handful that were present in the article when I deleted it) to be a suitable encyclopedia topic. — Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:29, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Ritchie, I'm baffled as to the idea of how having literally no information is better than marketed information. Also, I was just taking the opportunity to say a well deserved "thank you" to this champion of wisdom, Hayworth, who apparently spends his entire life removing knowledge from Wikipedia so much so that I have bumped into him again from a previous deleted article on Barska Optics. The Cake is a Lie T / C 03:44, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

There was no copyright infringing material on the page, I don't see the justification for speedy deletion under G12. What was the justification for this, please explain. Screenshot of page before deletion: https://i.imgur.com/19z7Wv9.jpg -- Pavithran (talk) 17:17, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

I also need to add that it was that PDF book that copied Wikipedia and not vice versa! If ou had even bothered to look through the references section of the book (Page 227), you woud see that the source is attributed to ME and Wikipedia: https://i.imgur.com/jmWVT3R.jpg -- Pavithran (talk) 17:33, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello Roger. I believe that you removed my screenshot of Clash Royale for a Copyvio. I believe that you did this in error, because on the official Supercell policy for Fan Content, it mentions that you are free to use media of Clash Royale as long as you are not defaming their brand. I have restored the file (different screenshot) ensuring it falls within their content guidelines. I have also written a more appropriate Fair Use Rationale for the file. Rungta Group of Colleges

Previously I was created an article named Rungta Group of Colleges which is a group of educational institutions located in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India. This article should be published because people are confused with similar names of institutions such as Rungta Group Of Institutions (Santosh Rungta Group of Institutions), both are different groups of educational institutions but are considered as same, so to solve the confusion i want to publish Rungta Group of Colleges (Sanjay Rungta Group of Institutions) with a strong source and all the bugs fixed. Rungta Group of Colleges is popularly known as Sanjay Rungta Group of Institutions. sources http://www.rungtacolleges.com. This group owns 4 (four) degree college which are - RSR Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, GD Rungta College of Engineering & Technology, Rungta College of Dental Sciences & Research, Rungta College of Science & Technology which are located in Bhilai, India at same campus. — Sumitsharaf (talk) 13:39, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Lost in Space

Hi RHaworth. You've already deleted File:Chariot Images from lost in Space (2018).jpg once per WP:F7, but the uploader has simply uploaded it again. I'm not sure the uploader quite understands why the file was deleted the first time. Nothing has really change from before, except now the uploader seems to be claiming copyright ownership of each of the individual images, which would mean that the uploader could simply release all the photos under a free license including the collage itself per WP:FREER. In addition, the uploader seems to be trying to use the collage to verify certain article content, but images (especially non-free images) are not really suitable as citations, even more so in this case because the source would be totally user-generated original research. There seems to be a deeper lack of understanding here of WP:V and WP:RS that goes beyond WP:NFCCP. Anyway, I was going to tag it again with {{db-f7}}, but I'd figure I ask you first. -- Marchjuly (talk) 15:09, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

I've asked Jcb, the Commons admin who originally deleted the individual photos as copyvios, to clarify the source which was given for them. Jcb does not have the tools to see deleted Wikipedia files, but can see files deleted from Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 15:25, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

The files at Commons were uploaded with: source=The Internet, author=The Internet. Images were very low res (640x360). If uploader would contact OTRS, I would request them to send us the original pictures from their camera for verification. I don't think they are the author. — Jcb (talk) 16:10, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for clariying things Jcb. The file was deleted a second time by RHaworth. Anyway, if the uploader did not take the individual photos, they would be treated as protected by copyright unless they can be verified to have been released under a free license by the copyright holder or are in the public domain for some reason. This means they need to be treated as non-free, but a non-free user created collage is almost never allowed, especially when proper sourcing information is not provided for the copyright verification of each element of the collage: I don't think "author = The Internet" and "source = The Internet" is not going to be enough per WP:NFCC#4 and WP:NFCC#10a. In addition, the same basic file was uploaded as File:Chariot Image Sequence.jpg, but this would have no real encyclopedic value at all as currently reduced even if there were no other NFCCP problems with it. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:05, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Asan Khedmat wikipedia page

Dear Sir, I am working for the government organization in Afghanistan, called Asan Khedmat. Recently I created a wikipedia page for our organization, however, it has been deleted by you. I understand, probably there has not been any links provided as a quote to back up the information provided on this specific page. We are trying to recreate the page adding necessary quotes and sources to back up the story/article. How can I proceed to create a page with the same name? Thanks Masouda PR specialist Asan Khedmat / Afghanistan masouda.afzali@asan.gov.af — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muska Amin (talkcontribs) 11:28, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

First, please see our Terms of Use WP:Paid given you're connected to them and, then also see WP:What Wikipedia is not as the deleted page suggested a misuse of Wikipedia for profiling the organization itself. SwisterTwister talk 16:57, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

  • Learn to create a link whenever you talk about a page. Your draft is already longer than any of the unreferenced stubs that have been created in the past. Fat chance

Dear Mr Haworth, I am contacting you re the article I have submitted few weeks ago (Draft:International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and metabolic disorders). I would like to kindly ask your guidance on how to provide sources that could improve the possibility of my article to be published on Wikipedia. I did read the suggestions provided, but I am not a native English speaker and I am afraid I didn't understand well what I should do. IFSO is an international federation of bariatric surgeons. Our mission is to improve the quality of care of obese patients. IFSO is a non-profit organization. I thank you very much in advance for your guidance. Best regards, Manuela Mazzarella — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuelaifso (talkcontribs) 13:08, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Hello, @Manuelaifso:. Jumping in to say that mission statements are promotional by nature and have no place in a Wikipedia article. Such content can lead to deletion under WP:CSD#g11. As to sourcing, you must discard personal knowledge of the subject. You will need to find sourcing in journals, magazines, newspapers, etc. If someone has written a book about the subject, that would help. WP:RS has more information about that. RHaworth can give you more info on looking for sourcing. — Dlohcierekim (talk) 15:22, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
PS. Social media are right out. Also, the subject's webpage cannot be considered a reliable source by which to establish notability. Hope this helps. — Dlohcierekim (talk) 15:25, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

FuGENE

Can you please userfy me FuGENE as I believe it passes GNG so I'd like to take a look at reinstating it. It has been several years since I saw the article but I don't recall it being unambiguously promotional back then. Thanks. - Pontificalibus (talk) 12:45, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Ok, once I have excluded sponsored research by the manufacturer I have two sources discussing in detail, and thousands of briefer mentions. Someone might get an article out of this but not me, so what I've done is basically merge the useful stuff to Transfection#Chemical-based_transfection. I think FuGENE should redirect there (caps per the reliable sources) with the history restored? What do you reckon? --Pontificalibus (talk) 15:58, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

AIS Auto Insurance Specialists

You deleted my page. The editors all said my sources were unverifiable. They were Bloomberg News, LA Times, Insurance Journal and other such reputable and national publications. I was also told the tone was salesy so I edited it to neutral but was repeatedly told it's not neutral. I then mentioned that as an editor (I edit fiction manuscripts) I know neutral from sales and was pretty sure my edits changed that. I was then accused of being paid by AIS (again, I edit manuscripts). I then defended myself and showed them the Wikipedia page for Mercury Insurance (which owns AIS) and said I'd written it in the same model. Then my article got deleted. I mean, I carry Mercury Insurance. Will that page be deleted now? I'm not trying to be difficult but I feel like everyone is telling me the same thing which is just not true. Can you please at least retrieve teh article and point out how I'm missing a neutral tone. At this point, it's just making me batty because I really did try to fix that. I also have other things I want to contribute and really feel like everyone there just wants to bat down my articles with any excuse and there's no attempt to help. Please help, don't just shoo me away. Afarin Majidi (talk) 21:45, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of "Terra2 Solutions"

Dear Mr. Haworth, I've just finished working on a Wikipedia page for Terra2 Solutions so people are able to learn more about it should they wish. I'm new to the Wikipedia community and am wanting to do my best in following the guidelines of the content that can be published here. I see that you've removed my page due to "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion." That was in no way my intention, so I was wondering if you'd be able to quickly take the time in letting me know what exactly it was that you considered to be promotion — which I now understand is completely viable — but I just wanted a second opinion.

Furthermore, I now no longer have access to any of the content that I spent quite a while writing myself. I remember seeing a form somewhere where I could file for the content to be returned to me, but have since not been able to find said form. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction in trying to retrieve all of the work I put into writing that article? I wanted to keep whatever could be kept and just edit anything that goes against Wikipedia's content guidelines, which I will definitely read more thoroughly (especially in terms of advertising/promotion) before resubmission. Thank you in advance, Edwardfraser (talk) 17:56, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

Your puzzlement expressed here is one of those subtle technical problems which I relish. I am always happy when I am down in the (hex) dumps! In the original post the character following the — is A0 hex, ie. a standard ASCII space (20 hex) but with the top bit set. Most browsers treat it as a non-breaking space so the change that happened in this edit was valid and harmless. The puzzle is why your edit triggered the change and not one of the half dozen edits that preceded it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:51, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

Reviving Category:Solo piano jazz albums

I'm considering reviving Category:Solo piano jazz albums. Up pops this alert, telling me that I should contact you, who deleted it in 2013. The discussion (actually, only the nominator contributed) is here and the nominator's alternative proposal was to keep Category:Solo guitar jazz albums and Category:Solo piano jazz albums as sub-categories. Having the solo piano jazz one would be useful, as it's a type of recording that some people are interested in and they would like to be able to find more of the same by looking at one page. Restore a student article to userspace?

This was part of a student assignment and I believe that I can work with them some more to get the content to fit guidelines. Would it be possible for you to move it to the student's userspace at User:MadelineDeLeo/sandbox/Digital Divide in Philippines? I've told the student to be more cautious in the future via e-mail. Speedy deletion of File:ShawMinutes.pdf

Hi, I woke up this morning to find that File:ShawMinutes.pdf had been nominated for SD and deleted by you, all within 38 minutes while I slept. Except when there is some need for urgency (BLP violation, copyvio, etc) you should allow a reasonable time for the uploader to contest the deletion. That file is required for a talk page discussion on an important aspect of the article that comes up from time to time. The source of the scan is long out of copyright. Please undelete the file so that the talk page discussion is complete again. Thanks. Zerotalk 02:14, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

So you website as you referred to, is not the original. [1] They took from the source which I mentioned above as well. I would like to inform you that pattayamail is only a local news agency. Everyone can access to The Committee on Public Relations for the Royal Cremation of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and get file to publish. [2]

I learn about Digital marketing from University in USA, one of the assignment was to create/edit wikipedia. I checked that no one wrote this. And now it is open to both Thai and foreign tourists who are interested in visiting for free because the end of this month the government will be dismantled. Give me a file as you deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onoh1 (talkcontribs) 17:35, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

  • Oh No! Learn wikilinks and that naked URLs are obscene. Even viewed defocussed, one could see that your page was likely to be unsuitable: horrible <h1> heading and section titles marked bold when they already are. Text emailed. If you repost, explain why it is not a copyvio on the talk page and point to that explanation from an HTML comment in the text and from the edit summary of the first edit. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:21, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Requests for userpages deletion

Hello, RHaworth, I created these pages to develope articles. Now these pages have been moved to article space. Now these pages are just redirects to main space articles. These are not needed anymore. All of these pages were created by me. I request you to delete these pages.

Thank you very much for your time. Don'twasteTime 08:22, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Christine Hogarth article you deleted

Hi, the article had 3 RS from which content came. I hope you will reconsider. — Magicmondays (talk) 03:15, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Per "If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator" which is you. Please advise how you will get the material to me. — Magicmondays (talk) 03:26, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Re: your speedy deletion of Christine Hogarth. — Magicmondays (talk) 03:51, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Respectfully, I think it was your impatience to delete within the first day of the article's attempted creation. Or, you could have provided the DRV link or at least some kind of note on my talk page when you deleted it. Also, how can I provide links when the article, as well as my contributions to it, have all disappeared? See "Contributors sometimes create pages over several edits, so administrators should avoid deleting a page that appears incomplete too soon after its creation." at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. So, I'm hoping you can see this from my side and reverse the speedy deletion if you have the authority to. Magicmondays (talk) 15:36, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of Maths Time Joy

Hi Roger, Hope you're well. I saw you deleted the page I just created for the artist / producer Maths Time Joy. While I understand this is a re-creation of an article that has been deleted numerous times before, I urge you to reconsider. I have spent many hours collecting info to use as citations and make sure that everything I wrote is factual and can be backed up by evidence. You say that this person is not notable, however he is actually a very in-demand music producer in the UK and many reputable press companies have written about him. He has done remixes for artists like Bon Iver and Ellie Goulding and has produced tracks for Snakehips, Bebe Rexha and Mary J Blige. His productions and his own work have over 30 million streams on Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music.

I really feel like his page belongs on Wikipedia and I'd love you to reconsider this deletion. Please let me know any reservations you have. James — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jameslightfoot92 (talkcontribs) 20:02, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Roger. Please could you help me find the code from the page that was deleted? I put quite a few hours into it and would like to get it back if possible please — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jameslightfoot92 (talkcontribs) 14:20, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Repeated copyvio

Hi. You deleted File:Image.Jpg and File:Rebecca Attending Audio Launch Of Her Film In 2014.Png as unambiguous copyvio yesterday. User has reuploaded as File:"Rebecca"Attending Audio Launch Of Her Film in 2014.Png. I've tagged it again, but this user seems very persistent. They've been warned several times about copyvio, but either don't understand, don't want to understand, or don't care. I wonder if the user might need some admin intervention to get them to stop. -- Begoon 20:52, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Lift creation protection on Manka Dhingra

Now Manka Dhingra has been elected to the Washington State Senate. We should have an article on her. The protection is making it difficult to create such article. Thank you. Ueutyi (talk) 09:50, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Please review, draft has been created. Ueutyi (talk) 06:20, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Requesting unprotection of Manka Dhingra. It was salted due to an AfD decision a few months ago. It at the time failed notability guidelines since he was just a candidate. However, the person has now won a state-wide election which meets the WP:NPOL standard. Draft:Manka Dhingra is ready to be published. Thanks. Sulfurboy (talk) 18:48, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

2 Requests

  1. As you mentioned above, I have 99.5% edit summaries. It was just a mistake that I made while leaving a message at User talk:Divy(a)95. There I forgot to leave an edit summary. xtools count only live edits. If you delete the messege that I left at User talk:Divy(a)95, then I shall have 100% edits with summaries. Therefore, I request you to delete that edit.
  2. Please delete User:Don'twasteTime/Coast of Colombia. Don'twasteTime 15:13, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
  • RHaworth, If you delete that edit, I shall get 100 percent edits with summary.

Reason of space between each character is a problem. Every template appears in my device with space between every two characters. Don'twasteTime 01:40, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Audrey Brown-Pereira (previously deleted)

I am creating articles during the month of November for women from Oceania and was going to create one for Audrey Brown-Pereira. I saw that the page had been previously deleted by you and I wanted to ensure that in creating it again I didn't run into any problems. Would it be possible to see the content of the previously created page? Thanks in advance! Slafayette (talk) 10:30, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Why coulndn't Espresso Vivace go to AfD?

Can you explain why Espresso Vivace could not have been allowed go to Afd for discussion? I posted twice on the talk page explaining why it met the notability criteria, and I gave valid reasons. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 19:41, 11
