Deleted student article

Hi, I see you have deleted a number of student articles called Wiki Assignment 1. This has been a bit difficult for us considering that this was a part of our coursework. I was wondering, as it states on your page, if you would be able to send me a copy of my text so I can make a save of it and send it in to my tutor? Here is my page as you said you would require a link to my page. Thanks, 17:13, 10 February 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thedellboy (talkcontribs)

Stirling work

Hmm... Possibly a class project gone pear-shape? Hi RHaworth.

As you can see from the deleted contributions, this could possibly be about a class project at the University of Stirling.
Or it could be some well outa order wide boys having a larf over a cheeky Nandos, innit?

RHaworth (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) Hi, this is Hannahfaire667 - yes, this is a class project from the University of Stirling. I just had to redo my page because it's due in an hour. I'm sorry for all the trouble but please, this is graded and I'd rather not fail because of an online debacle. I just made this account yesterday and I admit I'm still working my way through the tutorials about how to use Wikipedia effectively. All we were supposed to do was "write about something we liked" and comment on each other's pages. Perhaps Prof. Singh (GregXenon01 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)) can stand up for us? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hannahfaire667 (talkcontribs)
RHaworth (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) It has to be a talk page. That's the whole point of the assignment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hannahfaire667 (talkcontribs)
RHaworth Hi I am Christina, I have been following the discussion from the Tea House till here. The exercise is about training how to use the linking within Wikipedia - just as an ice breaker we should write about something we like and explain why we do so. Isn't it possible for us to upload these posts and leave them until the assignment is over and delete it afterwards? I do understand, that we should not make a blog out of our talk page, but only discuss Wikipedia related issues. But while creating this posts we are learning how to use the interface and practise - can't we make a compromise? I would really appreciate that. SchrumpflinH (talk) 12:51, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
This does sound like an instructor who hasn't gotten in touch with Wikipedia:Education program before starting a class assignment. I hate to see students punished for the instructor's mistakes. Really, the instructor needs to check in with the Education program here for assistance, or somebody needs to reach out to the instructor (once we can find him/her; does he/she have an account on Wikipedia yet?). — C.Fred (talk) 13:09, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
He's idle nearly a week, but I've left the message. We'll see what happens. —C.Fred (talk) 14:12, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi all, yes its me GregXenon01 (talk) not grossly misled or deliberately misleading the students - I think that's a bit strong, as the entire point of the exercise isn't to use the wiki as a free host, but just to get the students thinking about the Five Pillars and the editing process in collaboration. And it's confined to user talk pages. For what it's worth I think the students are dealing with all of this pretty well, considering I've plonked them in at the deep end here. The first assignment isn't assessed formally, but will be used to give feedforward for future tasks. Might I suggest as an alternative to this, as a compromise that we move all future student tasks for this particular group directly into Wikibooks, and the discussion pages there? The students will be undertaking a discrete project there anyway, and will get the introduction in labs next week. This is the third annual iteration for the wikibooks project, and because of its educational bent has always seemed to work fine. This is the first foray into actual wikipedia for class work, but it's still early days and we can move this if that's the consensus. GregXenon01 (talk) 15:55, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Tempus ad Requiem V

Re: file:Tempus ad Requiem V by Lorena Kloosterboer.jpg.

Extended content
Dear RHaworth,

I've just received notice that the photograph of my painting entitled "Tempus ad Requiewm V" has been/will be deleted from my Wiki bio page Lorena_Kloosterboer due to the accusation by Eingangskontrolle, who erroneously states "no proper licence, its a 3D work of Art, its definetely not 'oil on canvas'."

Earlier today I replied to Eingangskontrolle here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File_talk:Tempus_ad_Requiem_V_by_Lorena_Kloosterboer.jpg#Contested_deletion

Obviously Eingangskontrolle didn't do his/her research. Simply Googling my name will lead to multiple links about my artwork. I am known for my ultra realistic painting style and a book has been published on my techniques and published worldwide. See: http://www.art-lorena.com/my-book/1 with links to sources.

I reiterate the image is indeed of a painting (acrylic on canvas, 80 x 40 cm or 31 ½ x 15 ¾ inches) created by my hand in 2015. I have progress shots to prove it is hand-painted, as well as witnesses who visited my studio while I was working on it (which took several months).

This painting has been published in the prestigious Poets & Artists magazine #67, curated by the influential Frank Bernarducci (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Frank_Bernarducci), a leading gallery figure in New York, who has seen my work in person. See: https://indd.adobe.com/view/0747d67c-acea-43fd-8f05-e028f1ebc476

My painting Tempus ad Requiem V has also been awarded 6th place in a national Dutch painting competition (http://www.schilderijvanhetjaar.nl/winnaars) and will be on display at the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, from March 13 through April 24, 2016. This museum has shown my work before (in 2012) and can also verify my work is painted. See: http://www.coda-apeldoorn.nl/museum/verwacht/schilderij-van-het-jaar/

Furthermore, I gave permission to the author of my English Wiki page and the author (translator) of my German-language Wiki page to use this image of my painting under the "fair use" designation. The copyright is mine, so I believe I am entitled to allow its use.

I kindly ask you to return the image of my work to my Wiki page. Lorena_Kloosterboer If you need additional information or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Lorena Kloosterboer (talk) 18:36, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry, could you be more precise. I did not author my Wiki page and have no idea what you are pointing at? Please describe clearly. Thank you. Lorena Kloosterboer (talk) 19:32, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm still not entirely clear on what needs to be done. Does the image description need to be changed, or does the author need to add a description of fair use? I have no idea... Please advise. Thank you. Lorena Kloosterboer (talk) 06:51, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

The image of your work [1] was tagged incorrectly for deletion by User:Eingangskontrolle but User:RHaworth removed the speedy template with the comment “Eingangskontrolle needs to learn the meaning of trompe-l'œil”. I have also removed all the commercial links and unreferenced puffery from the article about you Lorena Kloosterboer…you’re welcome.Theroadislong (talk) 10:07, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you Theroadislong for you explanation! Much appreciated. I had not spotted the comment by User:RHaworth anywhere on the image file. Since I didn't author my page, I have no clue regarding Wiki etiquette or how this all works. And thanks for the edits too! Lorena Kloosterboer (talk) 10:25, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you David Biddulph. I will let the author know about this, as I have no clue whatsoever as to what this all means or how to fill these 10 criteria. Hopefully I can solve this issue today. Cheers! Lorena Kloosterboer (talk) 10:25, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

If the user pretending to be Lorena Kloosterboer is the real one, she can put this under a real licence which would allow the transfer to commons. If it is kept as "fair use" the artist's consent is unneccesary. -- Eingangskontrolle (talk) 23:33, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Seinbach, Manitoba

Hi there, you forgot to delete the talk page of Category:Sportspeople from Steinbach, Manitoba category. Because you already delete the category. Could you go to category talk:Sportspeople from Steinbach, Manitoba. Thanks. 2001:569:70DD:7500:6963:CA6B:9421:3D1B (talk) 20:50, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi RHaworth, I just wanted to inform you that I am restoring these sportspeople categories, as they were apparently emptied out of process. The IPv6 editor has emptied several such categories with no indication that a change in categorization scheme affecting hundreds to thousands of articles has already been discussed. They are certainly doing good work overall with wikignoming, but if you see any more emptied sportspeople categories, please let me know rather than deleting. Thanks! Resolute 15:02, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Personally, I don't think so. Their actions are clearly meant in good faith, and they have done a lot of good re-categorization at the same time. Also, I think that speedy tag was my fault. I restored the category, but forgot to revert back to the pre-CSD edit. The problem I'm having though is that they are on a very dynamic IP, so I'm hoping that they will either see a message left on their talk page before switching to a new address and halt to discuss things. Resolute 01:49, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

I was about to postpone this deletion just as you deleted it. Please undelete the history. --Hegvald (talk) 14:17, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Please restore the page Canadianvisaexpert as this is much more commonly used term than the official department's name Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to where the entry was actually pointing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mphilip7 (talkcontribs) 00:29, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

  • canadianvisaexpert.com is one of those leech-like sites that charge you money to help you get a visa when, with a bit of effort you could probably get the visa yourself directly from the DIRC. A page on that title most certainly should not be restored. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:17, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Bard of Hawkwood

I repeatedly asked for guidance on why my page had been marked for speedy deletion but as far as I know I didn't receive any response to my request; I would have appreciated some advice before having the Bard of Hawkwood page deleted, especially as I had tried to add various sources, links out to other articles and links from other articles to integrate with the encyclopedia. I've seen pages on Wikipedia with far fewer references/sources on them. Can you tell me why my page was marked for deletion but Bard of Bath has managed to be accepted by Wikipedia? They are of the same tradition of events, although not the same. Many thanks in advance. Tellivision (talk) 18:19, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

HeadShy

There is no article that can be referenced as the HeadShy page was deleted. It was a band page. It believe it used to be here https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Headshy . File:HeadShy Band.png (Image that caused the deletion of the page that is now free and clear).

[Ticket#2016021310007408]

Hello,

Thank you for all of your hard work on Wikipedia. A wonderful source. My name is Lisa Lipkin. I am the singer songwriter for HeadShy, a page you recently deleted. I own the [1] domain and Medicina Records LLC. I believe this may have been automatic as the copyright for the image in question was updated before the deletion of the HeadShy page. The copyright on the image that caused you to delete the page was cleared 2 days before the deletion. You can see that here: [2] I am assuming you are the administrator I should contact. As the page was deleted for copyright infringement and there was only one image, I am assuming this can be cleared up. I also contacted the Wikipedia user that handled the copyright clearance [Ticket#2016021310007408] . Can you please reinstate our page. We have an album coming out with Clive Deamer (Radiohead/Portishead) and Simon Edward (Billy Bragg, Julian Lennon). We apologize if anything was done incorrectly. If there is some reason that you cannot reinstate the page (we are at a loss), can you please explain and provide us with the data for the page so a new page can be created. Again we apologize if any rules were broken. I am happy to email you my identification, copyright for our songs, LLC information etc.

I couldn't find a way to send a new message. I believe you are the administrator. I believe there has been a misunderstanding. I am Jack Ball a fan of HeadShy. I am in contact with the band due to the issue with the image that was used and the copyright notice. I have been communicating with Lisa Lipkin and using her responses to clarify that there were no copyright violations. I now realize this was a mistake. I apologize for this. I wasn't aware of COI and thought if you knew everything was okayed by the band that would be cool. I was told that the page was taken down due to text being copied from the internet. Was that a citing issue? Can you put the page back up and tell me what I can do to fix this. As far as I was aware there was only an issue with the image and that has been taken care of. If not, can you provide the page to me? A lot of work went into it. HeadShy just finished recording in Bristol with Clive Deamer of and Simon Edwards so they are grateful for the page. I was told by Mlpearc there that I would not be allowed to edit the page even if you do put it back up due to COI. I can see why he thinks this. Is that correct? I expect this is because I was using the responses from Lisa Lipkin of HeadShy. If that is the case can another fan edit or create a new page? I really hope I didn't botch this up for the band. Everything I put up the page was not opinion and was fact based. Thanks --Jackballwiki (talk) 21:25, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Lisa Lipkin, was making edits from this account, now Jack Ball, there is no faster way to get blocked than multiple users on one account. — Mlpearc (open channel) 21:34, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Can you please tell me if the HeadShy page can be put back up? I am very sorry for using her responses from a chat conversation. Only I have been logging into the account. I would really like to fix this if at all possible. Anything I can do. Thanks -- Jackballwiki (talk) 22:07, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

  • What an inordinate amount of messing about and waffle just to raise a simple "please restore" request. I am always amused at the way that people say things like "is no article that can be referenced". Clearly the concept of linking to the hole where an article used to be is beyond most people. I have restored the article to draft:HeadShy. Only because Mlpearc created a curious speedy delete tag which did not actually point to the alleged copyvio source. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:32, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
My speedy request was based on Earwig's Copyvio Detector and the link was in the request. — Mlpearc (open channel) 00:41, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for pointing that out, I will do that in the future. FYI, the same user created Category:HeadShy, which is now empty. — Mlpearc (open channel) 16:09, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you @RHaworth. So sorry for the long chat. I was confused as to who the administrator was and over explained. The restored draft is empty of all content. Is it possible to have the deleted content of the article restored or is there something I am not understanding? The page has been up for years with no issue until a new image was uploaded. A lot of work went into the article. Thank you for your help. -- Jackballwiki (talk) 17:02, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

  • No mate, it's not a case of empty; it's a case of restored and promptly deleted again. Main thing you are not understanding is that writing with a CoI is, to put it mildly, deprecated. Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks your group is notable and writes about it here. Text emailed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:36, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for your recommendations. Apparently you have made up your mind about COI. I made a very grave mistake in pasting a chat conversation with the artist when I was trying to clear copyright issues up. Wasn't aware of COI. I am a fan. The band is notable. There was not an issue previously with notability (article existed for years) so that comes as a surprise. They had major press with their initial release and charted for months on national radio station etc. Their next release features drummer Clive Deamer (Portishead/Radiohead,Get The Blessing), Jim Barr (Portishead, Get The Blessing), Simon Edwards (Billy Brag, Julian Lennon) and the horn player from Get The Blessing. Wikipedia is a great source of information. Really disappointing to have this experience. I appreciate your time and energy that you dedicate. All the best. -- 2605:6000:EAC0:6A00:3909:112D:F6DC:5B90 (talk) 01:03, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi RHaworth, I wanted to say thanks for deleting User:Zeke Essiestudy/Ŏ︵ŏ and closing the MFD. I CSD'd it under something but as no one came by for about 12 hours I assumed it was declined. Hey there. You just deleted my first Wikipedia article about the band The Rotten Pichas. Can you tell me why and also can I get the text back? What do I need to do to make sure it's not deleted again? I understand if there's something wrong with the information and people change it. I know for a fact there wasn't. Do I need to have sources for everything or what was the problem? This was information taken from links provided like the bands bandcamp-site and youtube-account and pictures taken by me of the band. You deleted my page Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC). Rightly so. There was no content then. I am going to recreate it now. It's of national interest to India, specifically to sustainable redevelopment of Indian railway stations. Why did you revert my decline of this draft? — Robert McClenon (talk) 00:48, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Apology accepted. Another reviewer then declined the sandbox draft. In the absence of an explanation, I copied my decline note into the article, so that now it has two decline notes to provide more guidance to the submitter, if indeed they are trying to get the article into article space. It isn't always obvious that a sandbox draft is really meant to go into article space at all. A lot of cruft seems to get accidentally submitted. I understand that sandboxes and user subpages have a big Submit button that doesn't explain what Submit means. (My sandbox doesn't have one, but that is because I have the AFCH script installed.) Robert McClenon (talk) 18:39, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

I have looked at the discussion at WP:VPM and the editor's contributions. Something is wrong. On the one hand, the timing of the edits is more consistent with a human than a bot, in that they aren't rapid-fire; however, it could be a bot programmed to edit at human speed and avoid detection as a bot. A few of the edits would, on their own, appear to be simple vandalism. However, the overall pattern is more bizarre than simple vandalism. To answer your question, I think that admin action is needed. The editor has been asked what their native language is, but the editor doesn't reply to questions. My own thought would be to block the editor for one to two days, but leave them talk page access, so that they can answer what their native language is, whether they are using any sort of software, and how they are trying to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. Yes, I think that admin action of some sort is in order. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:50, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

The new artist pages.

Hello sir. This is Jaron, i've written the articles, on Derick Cross, Kaila Mullady, Baba Israel, Yako 440, Soul Inscribed and Beatrhyme communications. I'm very confused as to why you would feel there is no indication on their significance. This organization and these artists are known around the world as pioneers at their crafts. The media has covered a good amount of what they do. Ted talks, Nickelodeon, PBS,BET and Youtube, have all promoted their work. They have performed among some of the biggest names in hip hop as well as Rnb music and one of them has won several professional championships. If you want i can give you some of the their well known works. They have had a sufficient amount of notoriety, as professional competitors and independent artists, and are even considered pioneers at the artforms of which they practice so i really see no reason why they wouldn't show importance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaron Felix Patton (talkcontribs)

Thank you

I see by your talk page that you engage in some of the most thankless work on WP and take a fair amount of crap for it. So I just wanted to say thank you. I'd leave one of those awards or badges or something but I'm too lazy to look up the right one. — Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:38, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Just what it says on the log. The article doesn't make any plausible claim of notability. Try Articles for Creation if you don't understand notability guidelines, and then at least your drafts will be declined rather than deleted. — Robert McClenon (talk) 19:53, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

You deleted the page Peierls substitution. This page covered an important subject in physics. I used another (very short) wiki page from the web as a template. The Cloggies

Hi, Back at the beginning of January you blocked an attempted move I was making to try and sort out clog dancing (see clog dance, clog-dance, clog dancing, clog-dancing, clogging, clog dance (British), Klompendansen). You asked me to seek consensus, which I did at Talk:Clog dance (British). The only comment was from yourself agreeing. I queried how long you wanted to wait on 13 January, 17 January and 4 February pinging you on the last two occasions. Since everyone who has commented either on Talk:Clog dance (British) or on my Talk page is in agreement how much longer do we need to wait to establish a consensus? • You don't need ping when you are writing here - I get notified anyway! Before you accuse the system of being in error, please check your preferences to see what email address you have set up. Sorry about the ping and thanks for the info. As for my email settings they are correctly set and have been for almost a year. You are not the only user who does not appear to be getting my recent WP emails (although I am getting my watchlist based emails ok ... I guess I need to open a ticket at Phab to see what could be the bottleneck. A few things on my plate this week but I'll resend that BEANS information to you via the route you suggest as soon as I get a chance. Thank you. Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep

Hello Mr Haworth, Previously (November last year) I asked to have the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep pages undeleted. You kindly replied, and here was our previous interaction.

However, after your reply, I started to feel confused and discouraged, finding Wikipedia processes complex. I have now returned to try and achieve these two goals of having Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep pages undeleted on Wikipedia.

Coincidentally I have I feel further information to support these requests, as the band that owns these two record labels was nominated for a Grammy last week, which you might know is a very prestigious recognition for a contribution to current popular music. I think that supports that this is a culturally important strand of current music. The main point I would like to ask you about though, is that in our last interaction you recommended that I try my luck at the DRV. But when I reread the rules for the DRV just now, the recommended course before making such a request is that I should discuss the previous deletion with the closing administrator. This I believe is you. So please could we discuss this, if that's the appropriate thing to do? Which I think from the DRV rules, it is?

Thanks for your help. Phil — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philcarterlondon (talkcontribs) 23:23, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi, it seems you've deleted User:Nikiwaibel/links for U5: Misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. but this page states that the user page section may be used for "Useful links, tools, and scripts". Can you please restore it? thank you, Niki W. Waibel (talk) 18:59, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

how to identify vandalism

In order for me to identify an edit as vandalism, do I need to be convinced by a preponderance of the evidence or beyond reasonable doubt that it is vandalism? — 2602:306:3357:BA0:602D:E0BE:CC80:D310 (talk) 00:49, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Rikkeisoft

Hi Roger, Thanks for reviewing the article I created Rikkeisoft. You saw it fit to delete; could you tell me what I can do to improve it? I have a reference or two which I could use to back up any information required to show its added value. Deletion of Draft Article on STEM Champ

Dear Editor, There was a page which was created on STEM Champ in the draft mode. This is about an organization which is trying to promote STEM education in India. In the draft mode, it needed a lot of makeover since it was just created yesterday (23 Feb 2016) and got deleted by 24 Feb 2016 without really giving an ample time to modify the contents of the same.

Extended content
STEM Education is a serious issue with regards to Indian Education system and the article was about an organization which is trying to fundamentally push people / educators to rethink of a possible alternative which the western countries have seen developing successfully. I can understand that it was not meeting the exact criterion of Wikipedia as an encyclopaedia but the draft needed modification to fundamentally talk about STEM education and link it to STEM Champ which is trying to do some good thing to promote STEM education. The page was created to motivate people on STEM education in India rather than just talking about STEM Champ which is trying to work on that front. Hope you understand the motivation for the article and not mistake it for a promotional material simply.

Thanks, Rahul Saha Admin - STEM Champ Page — Preceding unsigned comment added by STEM Champ India (talkcontribs) 08:59, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Deleted Xanitizer article

Hello, I am a little bit disappointed that you simply deleted the article without any additional message although I have written my opinion why this is not a marketing article. At least any reason why I couldn't convince you would do it. Whats the sense in contesting the nomination if the statement is simply ignored. -- NWenzel (talk) 18:25, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Are you still in the process of closing the AfD? You deleted Xanitizer referencing the AfD as a rationale, but WP:Articles for deletion/Xanitizer is still open. — C.Fred (talk) 18:37, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

PCruiser?

Hi RHaworth,

Did you figure out in the end whether PCruiser was a human with an interesting sense of English and an inability to string sentences together or even comprehensible edit summaries ("Parsing not impossible as citations were checked for reliability and article autonomy. Practice editing i.e." was hilarious) or a fairly rubbish semi-automated bot? I'm just asking as I was following the discussion at the Village Pump which sort of petered out. I suppose I'm just interested. jcc (tea and biscuits) 20:40, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Hashmi Syed

Dear friend, could you please take a look at the Hashmi Syed page. One editor -- User:Shahoo786 -- has really made a mess of it (not that it was much to begin with). I've reverted twice and added a comment on his talk page. I don't want to do more in case I violate the three-revert rule. Thanks and best regards, George Custer's Sabre (talk) 13:23, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Seeking your opinion

Hello RHaworth. My edit [2] on The Undertaker was recently reverted by User:B. Mastino, who cited NOTNEWS as a reason for doing so. I wanted to ask if you agreed or disagreed with this user's decision, as I have seen (and made edits pertaining to) similar information in the past without consequence. In other words, do you think my edit is disqualified by Wikipedia policy or not? Thanks and have a Happy Lenten Season! ~Lord Laitinen~ (talk) 22:41, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

The similar edits that I made were not exactly the same as the reverted one. Also, they were made many months ago (I doubt I could locate them at this time) and were likely reverted by now, if invalid. Thank you for your honesty! — ~Lord Laitinen~ (talk) 00:37, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Deeply concerning

Hi. Regarding the page deleted under A7 called DEEP-IN — I've recreated the article with citations to demonstrate notability but I never saw the original one that got deleted. Any way you could move that to my userspace (if that's allowed — I didn't actually write the original one but I think it might have some useful content to add in) so I can see if there's any content I should pull and reference from that? Thanks! Appable (talk) 14:30, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, though you're right that those aren't particularly useful (I thought they potentially could be). Appreciate it! Appable (talk) 20:22, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

Liverpool, Florida

Hi Rhaworth, Thank you for being one of Wikipedia's most tireless admins. Yesterday, when I applied an A3 tag to the article, I did a thorough search as the article is concerning a place. Interestingly, no source of any kind showed up (except the one the author cited), hence, I assumed the one cited by the author is a hoax. (It seems that I am wrong since when I quickly googled Liverpool Florida again today about 4 sources showed up, but it seems all of these sources pointed to Liverpool Island, Florida)

It seems I made a mistake by applying an A3 to the article. However, do you need to issue me a "warning" instead of a "notice" after I made such mistake? I nominated over 500 articles to speedy deletion and at least 93% of which are indeed deleted speedily (and some were taken to AfD and deleted afterwards). I don't know how to write a concluding sentence to this talk, but if there has to be one, this is it. — Ueutyi (talk) 17:10, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

RATE

Hi, I've been looking everywhere for the AFD for the RATE project (Radioisotopes and the Age of The Earth), because it has recently been recreated as RATE project. I could have sworn it has been deleted at AFD under another title, but I'm not sure what that title is. Can you direct me to the previous AFD for RATE, if there is one? — Everymorning (talk) 23:51, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

But why should you want to delete RATE project? There is precious little scope for humour in Wikipedia and this article does provide some light relief! More seriously, it seems a well balanced article so deletion would have to be on the grounds of lack of notability rather than POV-pushing. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:43, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Request undeletion

Hi, on my own request you deleted Category:Articles that show a Medicine navs template. That request was a mistake by me, it is still populated automatically today (though zero hits). Could you restore it as was? -DePiep (talk) 07:09, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

ISSIP

Dear RHaworth, Should I be using a sandbox to develop this? Jim (Spohrer) (talk)

I would like to contest the speedy deletion of International Society of Service Innovation Professionals. The Royal Academy report calls out the need for professional associations that focus on service innovation.

I had just notified others to help build the entry better, but if it not left there for a few weeks - it is hard to build it better. We are not as big as ACM or IEEE, but we have 1000 members, and sponsor academic conferences, give best paper awards, etc. The institutional members are IBM, Cisco, HP, JST (Japan Science and Technology), etc. So the organization is real - and service innovation is an important topic, since the service sector accounts for most of the GPD of nations. Thanks for advice, I am new to this. Thanks, Jim Spohrer Jim (Spohrer) (talk)

User:Obie36 another copyvio

User:Obie36/sandbox/Disney's Zootopia is another copyvio of the same article. All this editor has done so far is to copy the article to their userspace and then submit it to AFC as if it's a new draft. There may be other copies I haven't found yet. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 11:59, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

User:Cakulig Incorrectly Deleted Article

Hello there! My draft article, Speedway Motors https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Speedway_Motors was marked for speedy deletion and then removed from wikipedia last night. The user who marked it, "Boomer_Vial" indicated that it was an unamiguous / direct copy from a .pl top level domained link found here.

As you can see, there is no information at this link. The claimed copyright infringement source was not properly reviewed. My draft article was incorrectly flagged and deleted. There is no copyrighted information or plagiarism, it was an original work. Please reinstate the draft so that I may continue to work it. This is an abuse of the review system and user Boomer_Vial should not be allowed to flag drafts for deletion. — Cakulig (talk) 14:08, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of redirect

Hi, RHaworth. You recently deleted my redirect The america's cup, which redirected to America's Cup. I created the redirect because I had searched for "the america's cup", was not redirected to the correct article, and then had to scroll through search results because the page I was looking for was not near the top of the results. Per WP:R#DELETE I see no relevant reason to delete the redirect, and the reason given (R3. Implausible typos) doesn't seem fitting to me since "The America's Cup" is neither implausible nor a typo. Further, per WP:R#KEEP, the redirect would meet #3 and #5. Also, there is plenty of precedent for redirects that preface the title of the article with "The", such as The Masters, The Ryder Cup, The Indianapolis 500, The United States, and so on. Thanks.
