coor and all that

Hi Roger, are you aware of the options available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates. Adding coordinates with the {coor dms} template, such as

(coords: {{coord|51|30|12|N|00|07|11|W|type:landmark}}) — 51°30′12″N 00°07′11″W / 51.50333°N 0.11972°W / 51.50333; -0.11972

Links to a meta page that offers maps from a range of online maps, including MultiMap. Not that the {Mmukpc} template is bad, but using coordiates is more universal, invariable and could lead to a variety of additional functions in the future. Also linking to a meta page of map links removes bias, similar to ISBN links connecting to a range of book vendors, not just Amazon.com. The only problem with it is that the meta page is currently hosted away from the main Wiki servers. -- Solipsist 06:20, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • I will give a detailed reply here anon. The most obvious problem is that we simply do not use lat/long in GB. Point of terminology: Grid References are co-ordinates just as much as latitude and longitude, they are universal within GB and invariable. I posted a suggestion that the .php that coor calls should be extended to accept OS Grid Refs. I have been pointed to the source code of the .php. So it looks like we can have Grid Refs as an input to coor but I will probably have to learn php (which won't do me any harm) and do it myself. I also have to fix the bug that the link to Getamap goes to a location 100 km too far north - try it on your link above. -- RHaworth 07:19, 2005 Apr 27 (UTC)
I see the problem. I'm not really the one to dicsuss it, as I don't know that much about geo-coords. I can just see the benefit of everyone using the same system. But if the system does't work, it is certainly better to get the coordinate info added any which way. -- Solipsist 08:00, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Template:oscoor which accepts Grid Refs has now been created and put into use by a few templates. My comments above related to most of the map templates - apart from mmukpc itself. mmukpc is an abomination - I only wrote it because the direct multimap links which it replaces were an even greater abomination. -- RHaworth 04:54, 2005 May 5 (UTC)

Irish grid

Thanks for your comments on the Irish Wikipedians board. I've updated Irish national grid reference system with a couple of examples, if you would like a test harness. Since anything to do Ireland always runs into problems with naming, I've found the terms TM65 (transmercator 1965 datum) and IRENET95 (1995 revision) seem to be reasonably value free and recognised equally by OSI and OSNI. Extending OSCOOR to do both grids is probably ok though. --Red King 17:03, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

You have caught the article at an in-between stage. I started it as an itinerary then realised that as it grew, that approach would not work. I have been side-tracked into dealing with the problems noted above re: gbmapping. I see from this page that the trouble lies in using Internet Explorer, as I do. In the mean-time, I have been taking gbmapping links out of my contributions. Your insertion of the old map link suffers from the same problem but also from the fact that except at the largest scale, the old maps as presented by the link are more or less illegible. The trouble with the largest scale is that, in most cases, the context of a site is important. However, the Gate pub info gleaned from it, is useful and strengthens the impression given by the name of Gate Farm, across the road. I don't know that end of the A151 as well as I do the other.

I uploaded the article in its somewhat chaotic state because I had become wary of inadvertently clicking on one of these inescapable links while checking the preview of my edit. That had too often meant that I had lost the edit and had to start again. Therefore, you see the job half done. (RJP 10:02, 28 May 2005 (UTC))

  • right click and Open in New Window - have you never tried it? That is the solution. I use Internet Explorer, I check my links in the preview window and I have never lost an edit because I always open in new window, leaving the preview/edit window intact all the time. I have put a bit more on this topic in Template talk:gbmapping.
I am glad in a way that old-maps has the broken back button syndrome - proves its not just me. Their "Enlarged View" gives at least half a mile context - how much more do you need? And of course you can always pan the map.
Note I have given you template:getamap for direct links - but may I respectfully say, is there one grid ref link or potential link in the article where you want the reader to look at a specific map? Is it not better to give them the choice of OS Explorer (1:25000) data, Landranger (1:50000) data via getamap, Landranger via multimap (better), Landranmger via streetmap.co.uk (even better but needs an extra click to get at) or aerial photos?
Incidentally. I actually have turnpike trust on my to do list of Wikipedia articles. But you are obviously far more qualified. A couple of Lincs questions you might care to answer some time: What is the significance of "internal" in Upper Witham Internal Drainage Board and how on earth does Gedney Hill justify the Hill in its name?
Keep up the good work and don't mind me. -- RHaworth 11:56, 2005 May 28 (UTC)

From RJP:

Thank you for your advice re: opening in a new window. I am now able to make use of that but I wonder whether we should assume that all readers of the Wikipedia know about it too. (Indeed, I have just been on a non-return trip to an aerial photo and lost this almost complete edit!)

  • my notes today on the map sources page may help a bit. -- RWH

The template getamap|grid ref|(map) is very good. It is short, flexible in use and enables the use of a different grid ref in the text from that in the template. This allows the grid ref to be given while the map is not inevitably centred on it. If it could be arranged that the writer could choose the scale of the map which comes up and whether it was put onto a new window; that would be ideal. I have no idea how practical that is from the software point of view. :-)

I have used this and mmuk mapho25|easting|northing in River Glen. I have no objection to having templates offering multiple choices to be used as they seem suitable but flexibility in use by the writer is an attribute to be valued more highly than multiple choice. If a template like the getamap| one could be provided for the aerial photos; that would be very good. Perhaps it already exists. If so, please let me know. It would simplify this example from the reader’s point of view. I think that here, the AP with its distinctive three-runway pattern, is quite effective.

  • Getamap likes to go in at the 1:25000 scale. If you give it a low res Grid Ref such as SK 96, it will give you 1:50000. But that is all the control you have, as far as I know. We can control the scale of multimap on entry - and it gives the Landranger data at more pixels/km than getamap (streetmap gives even more pixels/km but their Landranger stuff is harder to get at). I have given you mmuknr map and mmuknr photo and used them in River Glen. We can call multimap's map pages using a "Landranger" type grid ref, eg. SK9166 or with separate X & Y. But it seems you can only call its photos using X & Y so that is the format I have used for mmuknr_map, for symmetry.
By the way: 1) I hope you have noticed that with Internet Explorer multipmap's aerial photos are overlaid with the map as you glide the cursor over - very pretty; 2) you are at liberty to create templates yourself! -- RHaworth 08:13, 2005 Jun 1 (UTC)

A Fenland hill was land high enough to form a refuge when the rest of the place was flooded. To qualify, an altitude of four metres was ample, three would do. Gedney Hill is not the only one. For example, there is (Grange Hill), (Manor Hill), or (Chapel Hill).

Anything which stands up higher tended to be called an island, though you may need to translate the Anglo-Saxon name to know. There is of course, the famous (Isle of Ely). Note the 26 metre spot height. This is exceptionally high. In (Thorney), (thorn island) you get to only 7 metres, though 6 is the highest noted on this map and (Eastrea) rises to six. Note the dizzy heights of Lattersey Field farm. Presumably it was named after the field which extended from (Lattersey Hill), on the margin of (Whittlesey). It is clear from the AP, {{mmuk mapho25|527800|296000}} (You know how to deal with this but I wouldn't offer this format to the seeker after general information), that the people knew where best to put their houses.

There are broadly, three sorts drainage associated with fens.

  • Where the fen lay in a relatively elevated position, cutting a drainage channel to a lower point was enough and relatively simple. In England, it was generally done long ago and its doing is now usually forgotten. An example of this is the fen around which the Battle of Bosworth evolved. People have great difficulty in working out what happened because they are unable to recognize the 1485 terrain in the ground of today.
  • The second is the prevention of the flow of water into a fen at close to sea level. The upland river water is channelled through the fen without its entering actually into the fen. The surface water and streams of the upland are collected in catchwater drains running around the fen and upland boundary and fed into the rivers. This job is that of the river boards or river authorities; the naming fashions change.
  • The third is the collection of rainwater which falls directly onto the fen as well as leakage through the river embankments and under the catchwater drains: artesian water and the ground water traditionally called the soak. This water is fed to sumps and pumped into the rivers or, more usually in Lincolnshire at least, towards the sea. This is the job of the internal drainage boards or authorities. The word 'internal' seems to have been introduced into this context in around 1940. It was probably to do with some drainage Act.

The Upper Witham Internal Drainage Board is a problem. The upper Witham is in relatively hilly country where Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Rutland meet, near (South Witham) (go to 1:50 000). The history which includes the internal drainage boards is a bit modern for me. Neither am I any great expert on turnpike trusts. (RJP 12:46, 31 May 2005 (UTC))

  • Thanks very much, I shall try and move this lot into the main Wiki area soon. -- RHaworth 08:13, 2005 Jun 1 (UTC)
Before you do, please note that the above is the principle on which it worked. Although I have put it into the present tense, I think the responsibilities were redistributed a few years ago so that in an area, one authority now does work under the two latter headings but I am vague about the present set-up. Ambergate Railway Station

I note that you've added some history to the page. I don't know whether you've looked at Ambergate Junction. I'm currently putting stuff together about the history of the railways around Derby, with especial reference to the Derwent Valley Line and its stations. Ambergate was the first page I had a go at and I wasn't sure if the railway station page was simply a travel info page and whether history was appropriate so I amended the info on the junction instead. As I get into the job I may ask you if I can make some changes. A bit about Chevin tunnel has popped un unexpectedly elsewhere, so it's going to take a deal of negotiation and good will. Chevin 6 July 2005 09:36 (UTC)

On the topic of tunnels (where I declare an interest), the convention seems to be that these have their own entries (certainly the biggies like Woodhead). (I could live with the Milford Tunnel being a redirect, but into which article pray) Linuxlad 6 July 2005 10:09 (UTC)

  • I am very happy to let you, Chevin and Linuxlad do what you want to Ambergate railway station and Ambergate Junction. I think they should be combined in one article. This is Wikipedia not Wikitravel, I hate those station stubs articles with little more than '2 up and 2 down trains per hour'. There are some good station articles, but at the moment I can only think of Uxbridge Vine Street and Coulsdon South railway station. I did the edit because I was having great difficulty visualising what Ambergate was like. Ambergate Junction just says ' famous triangular one'. The article mentions Colwick, Rowsley, Butterley and Pye Bridge - I could not tell easily which line out of Ambergate each of these is on. And Ambergate railway station was totally silent! Thank goodness for old-maps.co.uk! I look forward to seeing the station properly written up. -- RHaworth 2005 July 6 15:08 (UTC)
  • While I am in the area. Clay Cross says the major employer used to be Biwater, which was the successor to the original company founded by George Stephenson. But it does not tell us what the original company was or what it did. -- RHaworth 2005 July 6 15:12 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the replies and the suggestions. I've copied your text into my offline notes. To avoid changing things too often I'll wait until I've got something complete. However I really must start in Derby and work outwards from 1836 in an an organised manner. I agree about including the history of the junction with the station info (which I didn't do), but there are at least four more stations I want to do. I'll come back to you, Linuxlad about tunnels, because there is also Clay Cross tunnel and possibly some others. Incidentally Milford Tunnel is reckoned in my books to be 850 yards so its a bit shorter in metres. When George Stephenson excavated the Clay Cross tunnel, he discovered deposits of coal, which together with the limestone in the area, persuaded him to set up a company and buy a home in the area. I'll look up a reference if you wish. -- Chevin 6 July 2005 16:22 (UTC)

Charnwood Forest Canal

Sorry. I put it in to support the account I'm in the middle of writing about the North Midland Railway, rather than have a red link. I'm not sure quite where it finished, but I'm currently waiting for a book from the library. Chevin 18:01, 15 July 2005 (UTC)

Charging group

Is there any reason your charging group article isn't live? Rich Farmbrough 18:22, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

  • None really. I will dust it off and publish it soon. -- RHaworth 18:40, 2005 July 20 (UTC)

PWJR

Roger! Thanks for your warning on this. I hadn't been keeping an eye so I'm grateful. The problem - as with most railway lines - is that with the growth of an area it is often necessary for the rly coys to change station names, so although I can give with some confidence the names at specified dates - as with the PWJR - I do not live in the area, so changes might be even more recent. However, since the Fleetwood branch is now closed to passengers, I cannot believe they would change now. I have two references: one a Railway Magazine of November 1936, which has a hand-drawn route diagram of all the lines to Blackpool, and gives the stations as:

  • Thornton
  • Burnaze (I am sure it should be Burn Naze!)
  • Wyre Dock
  • Fleetwood

My second reference is the BTC Official Hand-Book of Stations, 1956. In this the stations are named as:

  • Thornton-Cleveleys
  • Burn Naze Halt
  • Wyre Dock
  • Fleetwood

In addition there is Fleetwood Docks - shown as Goods only of course. I'd never heard of Trunnah, but I see from the map that it is close by Burn Naze. I looked at some of his stubby stubs, and see that he talks about the stations being between B'pool South and Preston. I suppose that in today's terms it is, although in this article it was from B'pool Central of course. I will, if I can find time (I'm busy writing two booklets at the moment!) attempt to widen the scope of the stubs (there are enough of those as it is!!!) unless you are thinking of doing so? Peter Shearan 18:41, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

  • Very many thanks. Exactly the authoritative info I was wanting / Wiki needs and which Jonjoe could not supply (no discredit to him for not being able to supply it). -- RHaworth 18:46:53, 2005-08-11 (UTC)

An Entire Barn for the New Admin!

Rhaworth's Admin Barn

Congrats on the new job fellow Geography buff, you've definately deserved it. However, since you're going to be getting alot of nonsense from people, you deserve something bigger than a barnstar for your commitment to Wikipedia: you deserve an entire barn! So I, karmafist, award you this barn from my neck of the woods(Wilton, New Hampshire)to do with what you will. I just ask that when you have your crazy admin parties that you remember to invite me ;-) Karmafist 19:38, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

Many thanks for all the kind congrats above (and for voting for me). Don't expect to see me flexing my Admin muscles immediately. In fact don't expect any edits - I am taking a few days off. -- RHaworth 08:48:28, 2005-08-15 (UTC)

I've posted a suggestion for improvement on the above talk page. Please let me know if you have any comments. Bhoeble 01:06, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

Boothy to Scottfisher

You might want to educate your friend, Scottfisher (talk • contribs) on several wikipedia concepts that he seems to have no grasp of. I have asked him to stop editing until he learns how to use proper wiki markup on articles. On several occasions i have come behind him to clean up his mistakes only have have him muck up the article again. This after he was asked by you to improve, was given resources that would help him, yet he seems to have neglected or ignored any information given his way, with the excuse that i am a newbie. I am sorry he has been here a month now, and with the amount of edits that he has put up, the newbie excuse no longer flies. Articles in question are:

and those are the article in which i have come across, but based on his editing history i am sure that is not the least of them. He also seems to like to dump lots of images as well as external links on to sites, some of them have no or a very low relation or relative usefulness to the article in which they are placed.

Scott also seems to have a problem with images, besides his utter disregard to image placement or sizing, he seems to not know about image copyrights or the wikipedia image policy, considering that every image that i have come across he has listed as PD-user, after coming across an image that i knew was not his creation Image:Pottsville court house.gif and marking it as a imagevio, i check several others and came across at least one other possible imagevio, Image:Pottsville pa.jpg, and several in which i am disputing his claim, see Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images#Images uploaded by User:Scottfisher (has_been_notified).

I also personally take offense to two emails in which he posted to the talk pages Talk:Yuengling and Talk:Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, in which in the ladder on he seems to try to justify his poor image tagging, and possible copyright infringement, and wikipedia editing skill while also making me out to be a destroyer of their "Heritage", in which based on edit history and wikipedia image and copyright policy a complete lie. This also coincides with a strange message which he left on my user page User talk:Boothy443#User:Scottfisher.

If Scott continue to act accordingly i will have consider further action. I have left him a msg so he is well informed on my greviences and his image problems. Though i might have come off a bit rough in my msg to him, i only seek to improve wikipedia. --Boothy443 | comhrÚ 08:51, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

Scottfisher to Boothy443

Boothy443 had problems in the past, Hate to get personal here and take up your space and your time, just delete it afterwards.

Roger,

(Verbatim from his discussion page and there is much more)

I too have had problems with his spelling and rectifying them: Example:

Please stop reverting my user page. You are simply reverting my page on a whim without consulting me or anyone else, or following any sort of procedure. You claim to opposed in principle to vandals, but you have no problem engaging in revert wars when it suits you. What you are doing to me is a form of vandalism too.

ahh so he is a anon vandal. sure buddy. --User:Boothy443 | comhrÚ 07:09, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC) Learn how to speak English please: "an anon vandal." Your last response was incoherent. I am not an anon vandal; I simply do not want to be attacked.

right buddy, what ever, if you dont want to be attacked, then dont edit, welcome to the real world where things arnt always roses. --User:Boothy443 | comhrÚ 18:37, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC) I have been called a homophobe, bigot, Ku Klux Klan member, been charged with concerted vandalism, and do not enjoy it. I have had my username deleted in utter embarrasment. That is not fair.

As if on one else has ever been called that, true or not. Life isnt fair, deal with it. Their must have been some reason for repatiable users to say such things, and user names can not be deleted, and if your sooo offended by what has happend to you why dont you take it to a higher autority then attempting your dumb campaing of i dont think i should bee called this so i wipe my page clean thinbg, so that you raise the ire of others. But i dout that you will do that so in the mean time bugg off my talk page on your watch list. --User:Boothy443 | comhrÚ 22:24, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC) Oh btw i sig your post, or i will consider them vandalism You are seriously illiterate. Just about everything you write is mispelled. Thanks for telling me to "bugg" off, nice day to you too. 128.143.167.170 22:50, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • As for copyrights, Etc, It's happening all over, and I'm really not sure one can justify a picture taken of a picture has any copyrights. I have not seen any burden of proof, some may be logical of course.

Is there an external link or place the government keeps copyrights like the patent I had to legally apply for and hold?

Scotty

  • I think taking a picture C of a picture B of picture A, you're infringing owner B. However if picture A is out of copyright you can take your picture C of it, and picture C is your copyright. Which I think is why art galleries ban cameras - they want to sell you their postcards (I think this is right) Chevin 14:09, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
  • "Exactly Chevin", Thanks...Watch out Boothy doesn't start staulking and deleteing your stuff w/o taking the burden of proof there is a copyright... Scotty
  • Which picture? Chevin 17:29, 20 August 2005 (UTC) Incidentally I'm writing about UK law. American law used to be marginally different. For instance to have copyright in the UK you only have show your work to someone, whereas in America I think you have to send it to the Library of Congress - books anyway. Also you used to have claim copyright separately in different countries. Then there's publishing rights, a whole different can of worms.
  • I think that a picture such as Image:Pottsville court house.gif is liable to be a double copyvio - of the original postcard (if still in copyright) and of the gif image.

General. I am not sure why Scott and Boothy have put this lot on my talk page. I am watching and will give my considered opionion in due course. -- RHaworth 17:50:48, 2005-08-20 (UTC)

Rollback?

Hi there! Could you please explain why you rollbacked this? The category was earlier deleted via CFD process. Radiant_>|< 12:33, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

  • Aren't you supposed to clear a category before you delete it? I have edited the cat taking my precedent from here. In my defence, I would say that {{db|see [[CfD debate]]}} would have been better than {{deleteagain}} which has a rather vague may have undergone a vote for deletion here - note the missing link. And after ten minutes of hunting I cannot actually find the original CfD debate. But I am not dsperately bothered - if you want to delete it straight away, feel free - but do provide a link to the CfD debate. -- RHaworth 13:55:01, 2005-08-23 (UTC)

More Pics

"The footpath sign was a result of an abortive attempt to photograph the south portal of the Milford Tunnel - I did not think the golfers would take kindly to my walking across their fairways and I am not sure how else to get to it." When I went train spotting, I used to walk along the edge of the field at the opposite side off the Milford Road, opposite the signal box. The North Portal is said to be prettier and you seem to have caught it in a rare moment when it wasn't deep in shade. I like 058133 - the train gives it a bit of movement.

There are loads of photos around but they are all copyright. My solution is to link to websites that are lkely to be permanent. "Picture the Past" has a photo of Toadmoor Tunnel which really shows the elliptical shape.

058162 would show Ambergate station as it is now. Belper and Duffield have been similarly erased.

I'm sure I should know what Chatter is. I have this feeling it's limestone pebbles from the quarries that you'd use for a driveway. I'll have to ask around, or perhaps we could ask on the "Voices" BBC programme that's coming up. Chevin 08:53, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Are the other images mentioned at http://www.rhaworth.me.uk/4val/058-/buxton05.htm available for GFDL uploading? The Buxton article could certainly use a picture of the cresent. -- Solipsist 08:08, 25 August 2005 (UTC)

Canal Lock

Cheers. Solved the problem. Forgot about the 'nonsense' tag in the middle. Split it up for now. I'm just mucking about with javascript at the mo.

About the canal lock article, I only added the stop lock bit but i'm guessing that the term pound lock is to differentiate it from the flash locks. I've always associated the word pound (on its own) with a stretch of water between locks.--josh 13:02, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your kindness and advice. Why I continue get this on Deaerator article of mine? This article needs to be cleaned up to conform to a higher standard of quality. This article has been tagged since August 2005.

I hope not to trouble you any more. -- Dore chakravarty 20:38, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

  • It simply means, as I am sure you would admit, that your English is not quite of the standard required by Wikipedia. Your contributions, I hasten to say, are nonetheless valued. Don't object to the cleanup tag, be grateful - your article is now included in Category:Cleanup from August 2005. We hope that someone will see it and do a bit of copyediting. I had a look at deaerator and there was nothing that struck me as glaringly bad. But I have had a go at thermal power station#Barring gear. I don't pretend that my version is perfect but it shows you the sort of thing that can be done. -- RHaworth 04:12:32, 2005-09-08 (UTC)

Is it just me ...

or is everybody being cryptic? Within the last hour:

  • Rktect has added the totally cryptic comment: Generally we use list servers, they tend to be a little bit less intense
  • Scottfisher has added a totally cryptic link to an album
  • Nandesuka has added a comment without any hint of context immediately above.

I know I have been slow in responding to Scotty and Boothy443 but here is one of the things I have been meaning to say in that area. Boothy says: didnt know that i was taken a spelling test. Think on this - if I write badly or make errors in a (Main) article someone will correct it eventually. If I write badly on a talk page, no one will correct it - I will just cause confusion, annoyance, etc. depending on the nature of the error. So in some ways it is more important to write clear English on a talk page. For example in the fragment of Boothy I quoted above, we can guess that taken should be taken as taking but in a different context an error such as that might change the whole meaning of the sentence.

So please, I am an English bear of very little brain. Please speak slowly and distinctly and I might understand you better. RHaworth 02:34:50, 2005-09-08 (UTC)

Greetings from Rich@rd

Hi - just taking up your advice to use your talk page. This wiki stuff is getting a bit addictive! I've had a bit of success uploading an image to commons, adding it to a page, and generally finding my way around wiki. Great fun but also frustrating.

Move !!

Well, it's true I've been here a while, but I'm not really clear on the whole page move thing. I thought only admins could move pages and that non-admins had to go through Wikipedia:Requested moves or else just redirect. I tried searching for this but can't find anything relevant, so perhaps you can point me in the right direction. Mattley 18:23, 10 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Any logged in user can do a move. Wikipedia:Requested moves is, as it says, for 'tricky cases'. Panty trust was a simple, uncontroversial move that anyone could do. -- RHaworth 18:34:32, 2005-09-10 (UTC)

River Crane

Hi Roger! I noticed your plea for the addition of notes on the Duke of Northumberland's River in the article and have attempted to oblige. I do not know the area well, so if what I have said (taken from articles/mapreading) is at odds with the true facts, please feel free to change it. I wonder though, if it needs a separate article - if, as it appears to be, it is an integral part of the catchment? Regards Peter Shearan 13:56, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

FYI: I propose creating a separate article for the Duke's River soon. KenBailey 21:06, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Wow..

re: Move !! — Wow, thanks for your extremely polite message. I figured seeing as I was the one who moved the page originally, I could copy the text back and no edit history would have been destroyed. I thought the first article would still contain the necessary edit history - I didn't realise edit history was moved and deleted when an article is moved. Apologies. Seems we are all human at the end of the day aren't we. Look, I know we all have the annoying characters on Wikipedia but the most of us aim to help. If you're an admin - I can't tell if you are or not - learn the difference (* below). — CuaHL 21:02, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Also, what happened to the version of the article I expanded and updated? Or did it suffer an attack of admin power abuse? — CuaHL 21:05, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
Scratch that, maybe you'll notice at this article difference that I used the "move" (as in the MediaWiki version of the term, like you said) to move it to a disambiguation page. Once I realised separate articles would belong better at Cave In and Cave-in I copy-pasted the text from the diambig page back to Cave In. So really, was I destroying the edit history? I also updated that article.. something I don't feel like doing again. Case closed I guess — CuaHL 21:08, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes. Or to be precise, you were asking an admin to destroy edit history. This article difference clearly shows you placing a db request on an article with history. Anyway, I have restored three deleted edits to Cave In - perhaps I was hasty. The history is now confusing because it combines edits done when the article was called Cave In with ones done when it was called Cave In (disambiguation).
Furthermore I think that the titles Cave In and Cave-in are too similar - I would prefer to see Cave In moved to Cave In (band) - but I have done enough damage for today.
* You could tell I am admin because I deleted three edits to Cave In ready for the move back. Also, you can always look at Special Pages / User List. I like to think I can tell the difference between helpers and hinderers. -- RHaworth 21:33:59, 2005-09-11 (UTC)
In that case, I really didn't mean to be a hindrence. I can't even find my article improvement in edit historys, so I don't think the server saved it / my browser sent it. I used to work on articles but I wanted to start going round improving/expanding. I had good intentions, though it looks like I made a mess. Apologies, — CuaHL 22:11, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Earth Centre page - any news?

Hi Roger, what's happening to the Earth Centre page? Does it need any thing else changing on it or is it ready to go back online?

Pinafore Pirates

RHaworth, I frankly do demand that you remove the page Pinafore Pirates as my user page. An dthe reason I deleted the AfD tag was because I didn't want the page to be deleted; since I promised the young author described that I'd help him become known. I ask you, what is wrong with that page? Why was it requested for deletion? -- Maulik2005 2005-09-15 07:17:21 (GMT)

When you leave messages on user pages please use Wikilinks to point to the articles of interest and sign your message with ~~~~ . I am sorry, Wikipedia is not the place to help people become known - that is policy. When it comes to people, the (Main) pages are strictly reserved for people who are already known. I am reviving the AfD debate and adding The Future to it - do not remove the AfD tags - but you are free to edit both articles to try and establish their notability and to argue your case at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pinafore Pirates. Note also that images uploaded without proper copyright information are liable to be deleted without warning. -- RHaworth 07:39, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Where the creator of a vanity page has been forced to create an account because they want to upload a picture, my policy is to userfy rather than speedy. Search this list for "moved to". It seems a bit more merciful. And experience shows that they usually go away afterwards. (A notable exception is User:Maulik2005. Now nobody has the heart to vote his pages off!) In the case of Dieloony, I only realised halfway through that it might be an attack rather than vanity. Let us see what happens - my guess is nothing. -- RHaworth 07:11, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. That's what I thought had happened, but wondered if there had been some communication between you and DL that satisfied you it wasn't an attack. Wanna bet that the real Casey Stewart shows up at some stage? ^_^

Paul Vautin really was one of Manly's greatest!

Hi, I saw you deleted the Paul Vautin page, and the deletion log made me laugh--your comment, "patent nonsense", the original article (or at least what I was shown) "fatty vautin was one of manly's greats". His name is correct, his nickname, as used through his career and TV is Fatty, and he played for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. I'll probably put a paraphrased version of the previous sentence in a new stub.

  • I have had a look at the WP:CSD article - there does not seem to be anything notable about the edits to it. I am very puzzled by your redirect of treacka to troika - can you cite any external links to substantiate it? All I can see is a number of pedigree dogs! -- RHaworth 06:05, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
The whole "doesn't assert notability makes it a speedy" thing only counts for biographies sadly. As for the redirect to troika, the original article claims the word is decended from troika, which is all I was going on. Pretty tentative, I'll grant you and I'd be fine with other things being done with or to the page in question. --fvw* 18:38, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

I'm using it to test my eastimelines. Besides It is hard to get a creative web page like yours... • There is absolutely no reason to delete History of the Ottoman Empire - it is exactly the sort of title that an enquirer might key in. I don't care what you do with it - leave it as a redirect (probably best) or turn it into a very short page with just four links in (which is a 1 to 4 type of redirect) - but don't ask to delete it! -- RHaworth 21:56, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

I DID NOT ASK THAT MY PAGE BE DELETED I gave away my username and password away so that they can either disambiguate or split my article but It seems they've used it to go to protected restricted areas of my page to vandalize what I have said and now it has been deleted. /sob /sob GOODBYE TO MY HARDWORK AND LABOUR OF GATHERING THAT VALUABLE INFORMATION All the hardwork and sacrifice gone in a flash! • When people come to Wikipedia, we expect them to try and conform to Wikipedia standards. Your message above suggests that you are doing what I have suggested in the AfD proposal: using Wikipedia as a free host without making any attempt to actually contribute useful content to it. Note that:
    • When you leave a message on a talk: page, you are expected to give it an header and to sign it.
    • You are expected to be specific and provide Wikilinks - which of your messages have been vandalised?
    • Placing malicious speedy delete notices is pure vandalism - if you do it you will lose all sympathy and support.
    • We know your username and we do not need your password to edit your work. Using some one else's logon is a serious offence.
    • There are no restricted areas on your page. Splitting your article is something you can do yourself.
    • Disambiguate is a defined term on Wikipedia. I do not see what relevance it has to your work.
    • GOODBYE TO MY HARDWORK - don't talk rubbish. As a check, I have undeleted the article from Highbreed and copy and pasted it to User:MMORPG research. The amount of work that had been deleted is pretty negligible.
There is however a risk that your work will be deleted. I recommend you to copy User:MMORPG research on to your own machine as soon as possible. And good luck with your research - when it has been published and received widespread acceptance, come back here and create an article about it. -- RHaworth 08:38, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

WP:CP

Hi, you've reported copyright infringements to WP:CP in the last week, a new measure was recently passed to allow the speedy deltion of new pages that are cut and paste copyvios. Please follow these instructions if you come across this type of copyvio. Thanks. --nixie 00:22, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

Blatant copyright infringements may now be "speedied"

If an article and all its revisions are unquestionably copied from the website of a commercial content provider and there is no assertion of permission, ownership or fair use and none seems likely, and the article is less than 48 hours old, it may be speedily deleted. See CSD A8 for full conditions.

After notifying the uploading editor by using wording similar to:

{{nothanks-sd|pg=page name|url=url of source}} -- ~~~~

Blank the page and replace the text with

{{db-copyvio|url=url of source}}

An administrator will examine the article and decide whether to speedily delete it or not.

Image deletions

I have taken your image has been replaced on trust and deleted a lot of pics that you uploaded. But if you do any more please state the name of the replacement image. The deleter can then copy it to the deletion reason and thus leave an audit trail for anybody. -- RHaworth 10:57, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

No problem. As these were all images I originally uploaded, a terse justification for deletion seemed appropriate. In the future, I will deal with any images I orphan contemporaneously so as not to create a backlog. Thanks for the help!--Lordkinbote 15:18, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Josh McElgunn

I saw you userfied the Josh McElgunn page. It still looks like an attack page to me. If User:Gelgs actually is McElgunn then I can't see any objection, but otherwise I don't think WP should be hosting potentially libellous material even on a user page. --Trovatore 02:22, 8 October 2005 (UTC)

jw curry comments

I agree that links to poet and years are a bit obsessive. But in addition to throwing those out from Patrick Friesen, you threw out: the poet's surname! (we always repeat the article title in the article body); the embolding of his name; perfectly valid links to Canada, Vancouver and British Columbia. You should have created Wikilinks to Kwantlen University College and University of Manitoba. Yes, of course the publisher details should be there - as I say, please put them in carefully, preserving what is already there. -- RHaworth 00:42, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

I thanks you and i will be more observant. Thanks again. I did that with most of the other submissions so there should be no more problems.

I have deleted the redirect on Jw curry so you can move the article back if you want. The list of publications looks horrible - some lower case, some upper, some with "'s some without and curryafterlabaafterspicer all run together. However, if you can assure me that each one is just as the poet intended, then I will say no more! -- RHaworth 00:59, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Yes He (jw curry) is an old friend and acquaintance from Toronto days, and he spells phonetically same as bill bissett, another sound and concrete poet. The "weird book spellings" are the way they are spelled by the author. WayneRay 13:16, 12 October 2005 (UTC)WayneRay

I know that redirects are cheap, but A) Who's going to type in "Lightning lightning"? B) You've redirected it to lightning rod, when it was half about tornadoes.

Is there some use of the double word that I'm not aware of? Unless you strongly object, I'd like to put the speedy tag back.

Unjustified nomination? I based my nomination based on the assumption that membership in the Soviet Academy of Sciences was somewhat more widespread than appears to be the case. Since the Wikipedia article indicated that a sub-institution of the current Russian Academy of Sciences, has over 3000 members, I felt I was being reasonable in making such a nomination. As I discovered while doing research for an AfD, there are currently 481 members of the RAS, so I've revised my impression, and added that factoid to the Russian Academy of Sciences article to assist with future nominations. It's still a marginal distinction of notability, but now that the size of the Academy has been added to the RAS article, I'll agree it's now enough to avoid a speedy delete, but not enough to cause me to vote against an AfD if someone else were to bring it. Fair enough. Sorry if the question sounded snappy. It's the first speedy tag I've had rejected, so I really just wanted some feedback to make sure I don't do the same thing again. Like an idiot, I didn't actually look at the web site and the interwiki link wasn't there when I tagged it. In the alternate timeline of X-Men, The Age of Apocalypse, Magneto somehow manage to do it with Rouge. The resulting was this kid, Charles Lehnsherr who they named after Xavier. That boggles my mind... I thought Rouge can't touch anyone and stuff... Also why would a 20 yr old have it with an 80 yr old? Category:X-Men storylines

If you could clarify what aspect of the article you think merits removing the db tag that Fubar Obfusco inserted, I'd appreciate it. The content is pretty darn bad, and seems to meet WP:CSD article 1.3 section 1, the {{db-empty}} clause. Also, are you an admin? Your user page does not appear to explicitly state it, and my understanding is that unless you're the nominating party, it's considered bad form for a non-admin to remove a speedy tag.Edit: By reading your talk page, I've seen mention that you're an admin, there may be value in mentioning it in your user page to avoid future confusion. Thanks! - CHAIRBOY () 15:38, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

  • What aspect of the article you think merits removing the db tag?. Your statement of the article content above omitted the start and end - I have expanded it so that you can see that it was a bit of comic-cruft. I have absolutely no interest in the subject. However I do think it was rather high-handed of R. fiend to delete the article after the speedy tag had been removed. I have done what you should have done - put the article up for AfD.
Personally, I don't mind who removes a speedy tag, providing they give their reasons. (In the case of this, the edits which I did along with the tag removal were the statement of reason.) -- RHaworth 02:32, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the vote, even though you opposed. I left a response to what you said at my RfA. Private Butcher 18:34, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Turdblossom

Hi, I have changed your Turdblossom redirect from Karl Rove to Turd Blossom because the page already existed and discusses the issue (i.e. the flower and the Rove usage). A valid alternative would have been a redirect to List of nicknames used by George W. Bush, which once again lists the term in reference to Rove. A redirect of turdblossom (misspelled purposely because of the pre-existing Turd Blossom page) directly to Rove, based on the reasoning that the nickname is also mentioned there, could be misconstrued as derogatory (as would a redirect of Bubba to Clinton, or poodle to Blair) something I believe should be avoided if possible. --JJay 05:22, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Question

Are you an administrator?--Dakota 06:40, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

  • I did not see that status on your user page but then perhaps I missed it hence the question. Was not familiar with special list users. I have no problem with the deletion whatsoever. I see now what I did wrong in the attempt to create a personal sandbox. The only place that link was placed was my user page which confused me because I didn't see how it could be picked up as an article and I did not mean to create one . I'm sorry for the trouble. Another good lesson learned. Thank you.--Dakota 16:31, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Horace Mann

Re Horace Mann Elementary School (Oak Park, Illinois). Not that I have any personal hatred for schools per se so take this as a procedural question: Why does it matter that the AfD is looming towards keep? I can't see the content, but if it's substantially identical...
brenneman(t)(c) 09:50, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

  • I have never seen the procedure written down for when an article has an AfD and a speedy tag. I have often speedily closed AfD debates by deleting or redirecting, in a few cases I have done so even though the article only had an AfD tag - and no-one has complained. In this case, I felt the reverse was appropriate but if you put the speedy tag back, I will not touch it. -- RHaworth 10:01, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
    • My feeling is that if this wasn't a school no one would mind it being speedied in mid-stream, but it's sure to start a wheel war if someone does. If the AfD goes to its logical conclusion, we're discounting the contribution of those who participated in the first one, but not the second. Any way to combine these Afd(s) out of some sense of fairness, despite my strong feeling that first one should stand? Oh, are they substantially identical? Otherwise the new Afd is perfectly valid. - brenneman(t)(c) 10:08, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
    • And I might ask for some other opinions on what to do now, if that won't feel like cutting your mustard? - brenneman(t)(c) 10:09, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
  • See top of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Horace Mann Elementary School (Oak Park, Illinois). -- RHaworth 10:18, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
    • Thanks for that. Watching it happen was a bit of a shock, though! Clearly this version is much better, so I'm happy it's different enough. Still leaves the question of chucking out the last AfD, because I doubt anyone would have changed their minds based upon these changes... but life is too short! Thanks again for your time. - brenneman(t)(c)

You deleted Not a bug. While it may well not be encyclopedic (although perhapes it could be rewritten and/or merged to be so) I don't see this as fittign any of the WP:CSD. Will you please undelete this, listing it on AfD if you think it should be so listed? DES (talk) 17:06, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Home Ecclesia Association speedy

The Home Ecclesia Association article did go through the AfD process, in August:

Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2005_August_27 (1.116)

The content now on the Home Ecclesia Association page is substantially similar to the content of the page approved for deletion.

Re:Article

I didn't really see the use of the article....but if it amuses one as hardcore-looking as you....have fun! Later, dude--Jfurr1981 01:45, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

There was a reason.....

....why I deliberately included the {{db-bio}} tag at User talk:165.82.172.159's page and that was so he/she could see exactly what the tag said, in case he/she hadn't actually comprehended what it was. He/she removed it from the article twice , but instead of blocking, I followed the good faith mantra and tried to demonstrate what the tag meant. I originally made this same response to Katefan, and asked whether I was wrong to do so. I don't believe I was. Block, instead of education?Moriori 07:46, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

To spell it out slowly for you: using the "raw" tag meant that the talk page appeared in CAT:CSD and was therefore liable to be deleted by any admin on "auto-pilot". The correct procedure was: Enter {{subst:db-bio}}. Save the page. Edit again and remove the [[Category:Candidates for speedy deletion]] assignment. No that don't work. You would need to edit template:db-bio and copy and paste the relevant bits into the talk page. Even that don't work cos it has a nested include of db-reason! OK. It is difficult. But we do not like to see spurious inclusions in CAT:CSD. -- RHaworth 08:20, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
I just did this for {{nonsense}}, to display the resulting warning box on the template page. My method, adapted to nn-bio was: 1) put {{subst:nn-bio}} on a personal sandbox page, and save the page; 2) re-edit the pagge, and delete everythign except the embedded call to {{db-reason}}; 3) add a subst to that call, and save again; 4) re-edit again, and remove the category, retaining only the wikicode that produices the visible warning box and text. 5) copy the resulting wiki-code to the page where the "fake" nn-bio is to appear. 6) delete the remaining junk from the sandbox page used. I hope this helps. DES (talk) 00:38, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Many thanks DES, and mea culpa to those who were puzzled by its inclusion in CAT:CSD. Cheers. Moriori 03:12, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

...has been re-stubbed, as per your request :). BTW, it's likely that the Scothland geo-stub category will be split up a bit soon, probably with separate stubs for the Glasgow and Highland Unitary Authorities (which between them have over 30% of the stubs). Grutness...wha? 00:24, 29 October 2005 (UTC)</nowiki>

Copyvivos

Hey there...I don't usually run into those copyvivo tags...Do you know if it is typical for the page to be blanked when the tag is added? --HappyCamper 04:25, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

I have never heard of a copyvivo. (But the box at the top of WP:CP does say blank the page.) -- RHaworth 04:39, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Oh yes, you're right! Thanks for letting me know. See you around the Wiki! --HappyCamper 11:41, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Crouch End railway staton

Hi Roger, thanks for your enquiry on the reason I blanked the Crouch End railway staton article so soon after I had published. It was because I mistyped the title without an 'i' in the final word. I couldn't get the move function to work so, I created a new article with the correct title (Crouch End railway station) and blanked the original, intending to arrange its deletion.

As nothing links there I'll move your copy edits and link over to the other version and put the speedy deletion tag back in place DavidCane 13:29, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

"Malicious" edit

Hi! In this edit you summarised that my db-bio tag was "malicious". I'll concede to 'wrong' or 'ill-thought-through', but the edit was certainly not in any way "malicious". I have never made a single malicious edit to the Wikipedia and do not intend to start, so such a comment is a tad disappointing. Just so you know. Peace! ●REDVERS HELLOEMAILDOINGS 09:51, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

    • Yeah, Sango123 wrote to let me know, which was a nice bit of detective work! I've hesitated to do what I know I should do - go in, clean up and wikify that and a couple of other contributions by Laurie Coster - as it seems an awful lot of hard work, even for a member of the Cleaning Department! I'll have to grit my teeth and do it later today, I suppose. I'll reply to Laurie at the same time - I tried to initiate a discussion with him/her about the edits and the pages yesterday but it was a bit confusing, as you can imagine. BTW, the reason I logged on at the unearthly hour of 8am (GMT) this morning was to go back to the article and save it if possible, having had second thoughts overnight and feeling a bit dim for db-bioing it. I was glad to find it (and the other from the same time) still alive and have tagged it for clean-up instead. I hope no-one reverts any clean-up of mine because of the edit history! :-p Cheers again! ●REDVERS HELLOEMAILDOINGS 10:42, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Infochannel

Please give me a guess, what needs to be "wikified" in the article Infochannel Software. Infochannel 20:44, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

The article contained absolutely no outgoing wikilinks but it is full of technical terms. Most of these terms have Wikipedia articles and therefore should be linked to from the Infochannel article. I have added two links in the experimental set-up section. There are a lot more that need to be added.
Also an essential part of wikification, in my view, is the creation of incoming links. At present there are effectively none. Find relevant articles which could usefully refer to Infochannel Software and create links in them.

My test move

Thanks for speedy deleting my test move! By the time I got back to add the {{db}} to the redirect you had already deleted it - have a great day! Without admins performing tasks like you just did wikipedia would die a very quick death Trödel|talk 10:33, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

I believe this occured because someone with a similar IP address had just recently started up several nonsense articles and I must've confused the two IP addresses when checking recent changes (I thought the same guy had started up another article). I also admit that I read through it quickly and did not realized what it was. I would like to point out, though, that I am not going to go on a deleting frenzy upon receive admin powers. Any deletions I am planning to do at first will already be suggested by other users, and even then, I'll only delete the article after reading it through as I had been doing so until now (in this case, it was just a small slip, and I apologize for it... but one learns from mistakes). I am not a deletionist, so it is not my goal to go around deleting everything I see. I am well aware that placing a tag on an article is very different than deleting an article and do not want to start abusing any admin powers instantly by deleting anything I come across. I first intend to learn to identify new articles before deleting them on my own. I am really sorry for the misunderstanding with the brodmann article, and hope it doesn't give you a negative perspective on me. PRueda29 12:23, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps I was a bit harsh. As long as we stick to the principle of tagging articles even if we are admins, then lapses like this can be overlooked. -- RHaworth 12:47, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
I agree! Even with sysop powers our main goal should still remain the same as when we were regular users. As admins, users should still focus on editing and constantly expanding all articles and not just focus on fighting vandals. If and when I receive sysop powers, I'm going to be the same user as before, just a bit more in control of those articles I regularly watch. Again, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, and thanks for bringing it to my attention. -- PRueda29 13:10, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Pardon if this isn't the place to ask this, but why was the Ben Sherman page deleted? Steeltoe 15:43, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

The page was vandalised thus (out of ignorance rather than malice). Slapped wrists to myself and A Man In Black for failing to look at the edit history. -- RHaworth 19:18, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Sorry if I am being rude or anything but it may seem that I was a tad hasty in deleting the page. Can you please restore it? SGCommand

AraPacis band article deletion

Although I think I understand the rationale behind the deletion (vanity?), I would have liked to be warned first. Quite rude on your behalf, Sir.

Unsigned comment with no link to article. Ignored. -- RHaworth 11:12, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Does this satisfy your stringent requirements, dear Sir? Or do you need more information? Of course, you probably do so many vanity page deletes that you don't keep track of them, I should've thought about that, I apologize profusely for not keeping track of your good deeds... Good day to you, Sir. It was AraPacis

Slugguitar 15:52, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I do delete a lot of vanity articles - have a look at CAT:CSD and you will see the sort of rubbish that admins are removing all the time. So editors do not normally get warned of speedy deletions. But why pick on me? It was Spearhead who nominated it for deletion and Spearhead clearly knows more about music than I do - talk to him. The reason for deletion was "non-notable band" and I had to agree because an album should be forthcoming in 2005 is an admission of non-notability. The deleted text was:
Canadian hard rock/prog metal/goth metal band, formed in 2003 by former Miranie Morissette guitarist Jerry Fielden. An album should be forthcoming in 2005. http://www.arapacis.com {{nonnotable-bandcruft--stub}}
I note that they have actually done some gigs since the article was deleted. If you recreate the article, I promise I will not delete it. But if it is as stubby as the original, I may put it up for AfD. -- RHaworth 17:18, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Why don't I wait until the album does come out so I can put up an actual discography and maybe have someone else write the article than myself as I am the guitarist for that band? So then it wouldn't be vanity anymore and maybe "notable". And yes we are gigging a lot, and have opened for name bands such Canadian metal legends Anvil, and will be opening for former Bowie guitarist Tony Springer in January.

I think I'll do that then. Regards.

Pi to a million digits

I believe you tagged the article of a million (well, 150,000) digits of pi as a speedy, saying there was a strong precedent. I was pretty sure there was, but didn't really know what to look for. Do you have that informatin available? I'll speedy the article if you can find it. Thanks. -R. fiend 21:01, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Delete it and wait for someone to scream. It is straight un-encyclopedic by all possible criteria. I am sure I have deleted at least two similar but I cannot remember their titles. -- RHaworth 21:11, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Well, someone's already removed your speedy tag, so I'm not sure if that counts as a scream or not. I don't particularly mind waiting for the AfD to take its course, it's not the sort of thing that is an out and out embarrassment to have around for 5 days. Is there any reason you tagged instead of going right to deletion? -R. fiend 21:43, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
I could not find a firm precedent instantly and I always like to seek a second opinion on deletions (except for "test" and really "empty" ones). In fact I was not thinking - the correct treatment is redirect to pi which has links to various sources of lots of digits. -- RHaworth 23:02, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

why not delete incidentalome?

why did you remove the speedy delete notice and change to a redirect? is it worth recognizing this neologism for some reason? just wondering, Dsol 12:07, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm reverting back to the last version of the article, complete with my speedy delete notice.
OK. -- RHaworth 01:00, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
