Speedy deletion of Development of Spock
Hi there, I note that you approved the speedy deletion of the article Development of Spock. I contested the deletion, as it inherently did not qualify as part of the WP:A10 criteria. Development of Spock was a WP:SIZESPLIT from Spock and not a duplication. It centred on an expansion of a single section of that article, which had it been included in Spock, would have taken it above the 100kb range. As the criteria states on WP:A10, "This does not include split pages or any article that expands or reorganizes an existing one or that contains referenced, mergeable material." This was raised on the talk page, but that too has been subsequently deleted. — Miyagawa (talk) 23:02, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of Khalid Mahmood Zaidi
Dear Roger, I had earlier created a page on the biography of Khalid Mahmood Zaidi who was the pioneer and a trendsetter in the television industry of Pakistan. However, the same has been deleted by you. Kindly restore the page so that i can add further references and information on the page. Regards. I have reverted your speedy deletion of File:Cape Barren Goose edit1.jpg, as it clearly did not meet the criteria as written on the template and in the criteria. It contained the Valued Picture tag, from the defunct Wikipedia:Valued pictures project; this tag is unrelated to that for the similarly named Commons project. Per WP:F2, "pages containing information not relevant to any other project (like {{FeaturedPicture}})" are excluded from speedy deletion.
Please note that this reversion was based on the current wording of the template, which states "no locally relevant content" (per WP:F2), rather than the old "tags or information on its English Wikipedia description page that are no longer needed" (for which I do not see any policy basis - neither F2 nor the original WP:G6 specify old tags). The change in wording of the template, introduced by Ais523 with this edit, has affected the template's scope significantly. As such, I would recommend that Sfan00 IMG and other interested editors (based on your involvement in the deletion nomination, this includes you) either discuss new wording or restore the previous wording before continuing to use this template for deleting file pages with "tags or information on its English Wikipedia description page that are no longer needed". — Chris Woodrich (talk) 03:28, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
Also, I would recommend that the notifications left on users' talk pages also be updated. The wording used now does not in any way indicate the purpose of the deletion procedure being used ("an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image" does not apply). — Chris Woodrich (talk) 03:32, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Review of new user page after deletion
Hi Roger, This is to ask you if my current user page is now acceptable since you deleted (or ask to delete) the former. As a new user, I would appreciate your guidance and there is one item in my babel template that does not seems to work, it is the |ANI-3| attribute that comes out wrong... any tips on how to fix this? Edward Cornelius Humphrey
RHaworth, I think you were the editor who deleted Edward Cornelius Humphrey mistaking the article about him for a previously deleted article of a different subject Edward William Cornelius Humphrey. If this is the case, please confirm that an error was made. — Mitzi.humphrey (talk) 19:35, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- You have been contributing to Wikipedia for more than two years but you still have not learned how to copy stuff. The error was that the page had been created by copying rendered text into an edit box, thereby destroying all wiki markup but adding "[edit]" and other rubbish. If you try again by moving User:Mitzi.humphrey/Edward Cornelius Humphrey to that title it may well stick. It might also be a good idea to add an hat note pointing out that this is a different guy. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:15, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Good morning, RHaworth, Please revert your deletion of Edward Cornelius Humphrey. This probably was due to your confusing Edward Cornelius Humphrey with Edward William Cornelius Humphrey. — Mitzi.humphrey (talk) 15:40, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
I have just read your answer below to my first request (I was not aware that you had replied). You associate the error with "rendered text" and my inability to use the "hat." I must admit that I do not know about this hat and as far as I know have never used it. I would like to know more about it. However the error arose, it was still an error, and I was told by another administrator that I should first notify you to revert it. That is probably the most efficient way to solve the problem at this point. If not, what other course of action is there? Thank you for your help. — Mitzi.humphrey (talk) 15:40, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
RHaworth, I'm sorry for my errors of omission or commission which may have added to the confusion. At this point in time Edward Cornelius Humphrey is still an article by me in progress of being written but shows on my list of 26 articles created as "(deleted)", the only article so designated. The title itself does not show in red there, however, only the (deleted) note. — Mitzi.humphrey (talk) 16:40, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- RHaworth, The article you deleted is Edward Cornelius Humphrey. The article you cited for G4 is Edward William Cornelius Humphrey. As per this deletion log, [1], you have previously deleted User:Mitzi.humphrey/Edward Cornelius Humphrey. As per this deletion log, you deleted Edward Cornelius Humphrey as G4 on 2015-11-12T22:38:00 for an AfD for a topic with a different name, Edward William Cornelius Humphrey, whose AfD closed on 7 June 2015. Your explanation above regarding an "edit box" is not helpful because only administrators can see what you are talking about. In addition, your meaning of "rendered" text is not Wikilinked so is vague. As per WP:G4, G4 "excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version..." The appearance here is that you applied G4 improperly and are unable to so state. — Unscintillating (talk) 18:28, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

- @RHaworth, Mitzi.humphrey, and Unscintillating: Let me explain, since I can see the deleted article and its history which Mitzi and Unscintillating can't. It's true that Edward Cornelius Humphrey, 1905-1966, physician, is a different person from Edward William Cornelius Humphrey, 1844-1917, lawyer and church elder. The article was erroneously tagged for G4 by someone who couldn't see the deleted article so they didn't realize they were different people. RHaworth deleted that version, which was malformed anyhow due to an incorrectly done cut-and-paste. But the deleted article isn't important, it's moot, we should forget it - because a properly formatted version of the article exists at the author's userpage, User:Mitzi.humphrey/Edward Cornelius Humphrey. As RHaworth points out above (but apparently in terms that weren't clear to the others), the user page can simply be moved to article space, without worrying about the malformed previous version. I also agree with RHaworth's suggestion to add WP:hatnotes to both articles to distinguish the two subjects. Mitzi, if you don't know how to do these things, ask me on my talk page and I will explain. -- MelanieN (talk) 02:01, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you Melanie for repeating my message - and more politely than I would have done. Mitzi, I will go a step further than Melanie and say that you are welcome to phone me for assistance. I have emailed you a copy of the offending text. If you cannot immediately see what is wrong with it, you definitely need to phone me. Other matters: after two years you should have learned where to put messages on talk pages. Surnames match - clearly this is nowhere near as bad as promoting a living relative but it would be interesting to know your connection to this guy (and to E. W. C. Humphrey). Writing your user page in the third person is stylistically stilted and puts it at risk of being deleted as a fake article. Please re-write in the first person. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:12, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

Guardians of the Galaxy
Hi RHaworth. I had File:Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission, Breakout Concept Art.jpg on my watchlist and noticed you deleted it. Just thought you should be aware that this file and some others seem to be at the center of some ongoing edit warring between a couple of editors. I'm not quite sure which of the files should've been saved, but images have been repeatedly added/removed from Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! as a result. Some files seem to have also been tagged for speedy as pat of the dispute as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:35, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
The other files tagged for speedy were File:Misson Breakout Concept Art.jpg and File:MagicKingdomToontown.jpg -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:49, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

- See this request at WP:REFUND. I've bumped into this edit war at User talk:Hawkeye75#Orphaned non-free image File:GuardiansofTheGalaxyMissionBreakoutConceptArt.png. Chances are that if someone looks into this, it will turn out that at least one of these images ought to be restored, under fair use, but with limited resolution. Some of the editors may have engaged in unusual behavior but I haven't researched that yet. — EdJohnston (talk) 20:11, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
Thank you RHaworth and EdJohnston for taking a look. Perhaps one of you wouldn't mind taking a look at File talk:MagicKingdomToontown.jpg before it's deleted per WP:G8. Also for reference, the dispute between these two finally ended up at AN3.
FWIW, I think the Toontiwn image had been uploaded as non-free, but can't remember exactly. I had added it too my watchlist while checking some other files and was going to go back and take another look. If it was non-free, I'm not sure why it was tagged as a copyvio since non-free assumes the file is copyrighted, right? Also, not sure why the file was tagged with G11 since that seems to only apply to text,. Anyway, my concerns about the file's use had to do with NFCC#1 and NFCC#8. I was going to bring this up for discussion at FFD and see how others felt. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:17, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- Regarding File:MagicKingdomToontown.jpg. Unless User:RHaworth wants to look into that case personally, you'll probably get a faster result at WP:REFUND than at FFD. Images were part of the dispute in the AN3 case at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:James Allison reported by User:Hawkeye75 (Result: No violation) but the complaint makes little sense, and probably was without merit. — EdJohnston (talk) 05:16, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

Dear Roger. The sole reason you stated for deleting this page is based on Article A7 which speaks to the importance or significance of the real subject that i wrote about. While the point is well understood, I will like to say that the subject written about is an architect who has been using his profession to ease housing challenge in Lagos Nigeria and I feel he is worth writing about on an encyclopedia like Wikipedia. Therefore I am open to your suggestion - being a new wikipedian - on how you think i can enhance the article to make it wikipedia worthy. Thank you. Northclick (talk) 17:38, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

Russian noble family
Can you tell me why the disambiguation page (List of persons with the surname Saltykov, which exists on several other Wikipedias, are unnecessary? Especially when other pages like List of persons with the surname Urusov exist? I spent a lot of time translating from Russian... I don't know why you do this. Do you know anything on the subject? Not all with the surname are nobility, which makes it necessary to have two articles. This is so provoking, and I don't know how many places I am going to consult to get other opinions on this. It seems you delete as you please without any discussion or consultation. -- Simen113 (talk) 21:59, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- The rules may be different on the Russian Wikipedia but here lists of people with the same surname take a title of just the surname. More importantly, these lists are restricted to blue-linked entries. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:25, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
I don't see how all links have to be blue, shouldn't it rather highlight the need to write these articles? Thank you for an answer at least, but as I said the articles Urusov and Saltyakov concern the noble families, their histories etc. why should non-noble people be listed here? -- Simen113 (talk) 22:27, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Simen113: per WP:DDD, Don't include red links that aren't used elsewhere, and Don't include entries without a blue link. Your focus should be writing biographies of these people first, to demonstrate that they are WP:notable, and then, after that, disambiguate the articles as necessary. There is no need to disambiguate non-notable people. Without references, we have no way of knowing that you aren't making up all this stuff. wbm1058 (talk) 00:09, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
@Wbm1058:. Can anyone with access to the deleted pages (the ones for Urusovs and the one for Saltykovs) at least copy it and post it in my sandbox or something, so that I have the work I did? I would greatly appreciate it, so that I can have something to work on (concerning biographies and what not). I think that's only fair to do by the ones who deleted it, as I can't retrieve it. Secondly I would still like to get an answer to my question where I contend that there should be a distinction between the noble family and all people with the same name. Why isn't that correct? As is now, the article which should discuss the noble family (with origin and history) also lists all people with the surname, which may not belong to the noble family. -- Simen113 (talk) 11:03, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- RHaworth, could you please move Ivan Saltykov (1730–1805) back to Ivan Saltykov? The move has disrupted a bunch of links. It has no merit whatsoever. P.S. Incidentally, I am the author of ru:Салтыковы, the page about the noble family in question. -- Ghirla-трёп- 15:50, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
Apologies for disrupting you pages. Since there is no other Ivan Saltykov-articles I suppose it might as well be reverted. It would be interesting to get your input on whether the article on Saltykov and a list of persons with the surname Saltykov should be one or two articles?@Ghirlandajo: -- Simen113 (talk) 16:50, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Simen113, please look at the edit histories of Urusov and Saltykov. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:54, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Simen113:, I don't the split is warranted at present. It's enough to insert a note that such persons as Viktor Saltykov and Irina Saltykova don't belong to nobility. -- Ghirla-трёп- 16:09, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

- Hello @Harrisonsteins: - as the person who originally tagged the page for deletion, I have seen your comment here. Even if you did recreate the page (under the right capitalisation) I'm not sure that the event is notable enough to match Wikipedia's guidelines - small conferences like this generally aren't, you may want to read the general guide to notability. To be honest, the fact that, as you wrote "it is not written about very well on any other site except its own" makes it almost impossible to be a good subject for its own Wikipedia article. You are welcome to edit Wikipedia on other topics, but my advice would be to look at Wikipedia's guidelines on your talk page in order to see what contributions are considered constructive. Yes that means I want to edit all articles on home improvement as well as architecture. I understand why you guys are so jaded to bad content that comes onto WP...most of those drafts are horrible blatant advertising, but I do not believe I deserve such cynicism and I hope to be helpful to projects that need help. Deleted Article - Peter Karp
Hello - I would like to start a draft for an article on American songwriter and musician, Peter Karp. There is a message saying that you had previously deleted an article with that title. Could you let me see what was deleted and why? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by ProphetX333 (talk • contribs) 23:38, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- Please learn to provide links when you talk about pages. Your contributions history suggests that you may have a COI - it's just that you aren't so foolish as to have a user name that screams "COI". But the rule book says that deleted drafts should be restored without quibble so draft:Peter Karp is restored. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:43, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
My apologies. I could not figure out how to link to an article that I could not see. As you can guess, I'm very new to this and doing my best to learn all of the ins and outs. It is a lot of information to digest. I appreciate you restoring the article so that I could see what was deleted. I can clearly see why now and that is helpful. Have a good day. -- ProphetX333 (talk) 15:37, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
My company's wikipedia page
Hello there, Hope you are having a good Friday. I am writing to you regarding my company's Wikipedia page that is up for deletion again - http://deletedwikipedia.gawker-labs.com/wiki/Tamar.com. I would really appreciate if you could guide me on how to get this page up. Thanks, Asad — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iasad1 (talk • contribs) 14:54, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) That article was deleted in May of 2016. It does not exist, except in a website which has nothing to do with Wikipedia other than reproducing things we've tossed out. Also: your company never had a wikipedia page. There was at one time an article in Wikipedia about your company, before it was deleted. I do hope you understand the distinction. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:08, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Iasad1, kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no CoI thinks your company is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:33, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

I registered on Wikipedia only today for the first time and took a lot of time to write the page which you deleted. Can you please email me the text as I did not keep a copy. I don't know why you deleted this as every word is true and authenticated. Please check the website www.rajeshjhaveri.com Proof of each entry is available on the website as well as physical formats.I can supply this. So please email me my text and explain to me how I can contest the deletion. There is no material or website contradicting anything I have stated as it is all 100% true and I can provide proof in the form of physical evidence. I don't know how to do this. I am 87 and this the first time I tried to post something so please bear with me. — Charujhaveri Charujhaveri (talk) 12:05, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Posting a message here more than once will not get a reply any quicker. Shouting the title of your article is a good way of bringing it to the attention of deletionists. I am not going to bother to check any website if you are not capable of creating a link to it. If you really insist in forcing in an article about this guy - your son? - create a properly referenced article and submit via AfC. Text emailed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:50, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Frank Shannon (politics) entry
Why was the Frank Shannon entry eliminated from Wikipedia? — Francis X. Shannon FXShannon@yahoo.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by FXShannon (talk • contribs) 15:34, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) It was deleted because the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frank Shannon (politics) came to the conclusion that you are not notable enough for there to be an article about you in an encyclopedia, since you are an unsuccessful candidate for office, an obscure journalist and writer, etc. This is not an assessment of your worth as a human being, but rather of your notability. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:57, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Category deletion
Hey, I'm just wondering why you treated this discussion as a speedy delete. It obviously was a delete but I don't see which speedy criteria would apply in this case. — Marcocapelle (talk) 05:58, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Soetermans applied a speedy tag with a somewhat long-winded the rationale. But it was good enough for me. The puzzle is why Soetermans then did the pointless thing of repeating the rationale in a new CfD discussion . — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:45, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
I picked speedy incidentally. I reverted my edit and tried again the normal way. Sorry about the mess. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 18:00, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- Perhaps "incidentally" should be read as "initially". The point is that you did not revert your first edit - you added the CfD tag and left the speedy one in place. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:00, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello! A page you recently deleted (Saurabh Dey) has been recreated for a third time... Seems like a clear case of WP:SOCK as the new creator has zero previous edits. are you able to tell me who created the page the last 2 times? I want to file a sock report but don't know who the previous creator(s) were. Thanks! -- Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:41, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Cyberjusticeman has multiple notices on his talk page that the page will be speedily deleted. It's not a sock, rather the same editor creating it multiple times, and checking the edit filter log confirms he's actually created it four times. A block is necessary rather than protection.--Launchballer 15:50, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Gotcha! Thanks a bunch! -- Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:44, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you Launchballer for pointing to the edit filter log - it is not a tool with which I am familiar. Another useful tool is a simple Special:WhatLinksHere. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:45, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Deleted page name Alagie Ousman Jeng
Dear Sir May i know why was this page deleted or how can it be created by wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.198.75.15 (talk) 01:30, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- The page was deleted because it had already been deleted at Articles for Deletion, which found it did not meet the notability requirements for footballers (which are far too lenient anyway, if you ask me). If you can find multiple, reliable, in-depth sources on the subject or he ever progresses to a fully professional league or starts playing senior international football, try again at Draft:Alagie Ousman Jeng. -- Launchballer 10:16, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Hello, RHaworth. Another administrator, Steven Walling, deleted Adam Astill; could you please restore it to User:Launchballer/Adam Astill because he appears to have had major roles in Holby City and Doctors, and has appeared on Pointless Celebrities? Steven Walling has ignored my request. Thank you. -- Launchballer 11:53, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- Done. What is the point of

?
is useful, being equivalent to
. Correct me if I am wrong, but
is treated by a browser exactly the same as a space. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:45, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
You may have noticed that all my requests for deleted content are written exactly the same way. There's a good reason for that: I created Template:Rdc several years ago, and I've been using it since. I've checked, and I put {{subst:sp}} in it to plug a gap caused by misbehaving parameters. I've now fixed it.--Launchballer 18:48, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

Dear Roger, you deleted my page Draft:Meludia (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion). Can you please give me some specific feedback as to where you found it overly promotional? New Australian Dream deletion
Hi Roger , I am trying to find where the original draft would be located given that it has been deleted - can yoiu help me (it was deleted in last 48 hours). I wish to rewrite it and provide some additional evidence that this new concept is emerging in Australia and that it does not sit within the pre-existing Australian Dream reference (which is about home ownership which i sno longer obtainable by the majority of Australians aged under 35). Thank you for your patience and consideration - as a new contributor to Wikipedia there is a lot to learn. Warm regards Bill — Preceding unsigned comment added by DrPractical (talk • contribs) 04:55, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- Among the things you need to learn are: how to link to a Wikipedia page, normal capitalisation rules and to check your work for spelling mistooks (eg. Australain, Austraolians and australoians). I agree that it is a different dream. Create a better article and submit it via AfC. Text emailed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:06, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
I had already fixed the "Pikachu" word before deletion, can you please undelete it (only the newest revision) or give me a clear reason of deleting? — 333-blue 12:20, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

1010data
Hi Roger, I was writing to find out why 1010data was deleted from Wikipedia. Here is a link to the deleted page. 1010data was acquired by Advance, the parent company of Conde Nast, for $500 Million in August 2015. Here is the Wall Street Journal article detailing the news. The company regularly makes news for its analysis of major business trends using its big data tools. Business Insider, Financial Times, Adweek, Women's Wear Daily and many more. In fact 90 different publications have covered 1010data's analysis over the past two quarters. Conde Nast has even starting using 1010data's technology with the introduction of Conde Nast Spire. Thanks so much for your help, Curtis CCS 01:48, 27 August 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by CurtisSparrer (talk • contribs)
- You probably have a COI but an article that has survived for eight years deserves better than speedy deletion. Restored. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:06, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
Help needed
Hi, do you think the following article could be deleted per G11 or G6: Wikipedia:Janindu Mahesh/Janindu Mahesh, or should I rather take it to AfD/MfD? There also are the related User talk:Janindu Mahesh, Wikipedia:Janindu Mahesh and User:Chathuranga Chandrasekara/sandbox/Janindu Mahesh. The author has been exceptionally stubborn about sticking to the wrong namespace and removing CSD notices. — Uanfala (talk) 15:18, 29 August 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of Anupam Kaler
Hello sir , With due respect, i just want to know that why my userpage gets deleted ? As you can see, i always been tried to enlarge Wikipedia database. But due to lack of some citations, one of my page "WebsiteOx" gets deleted which wasn't any promotional activity at all. I can never mean to misuse of this platform which helps me to increase my knowledge about world. Please reactive my userpage. And also please help me that how can i provide more info about different topics. I am willing to work to bring a lot of singers' database (specially from India) and monuments of India onto Wikipedia . But they may have less citations or references as they aren't much popular on records. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anupamkaler (talk • contribs)
Dong
Please reconsider deletion of WCW Ding Dongs. Ample background documentation through newspaper articles, two printed books, and numerous online references were provided. With respect, I ask that you please reconsider the deletion. It took considerable research to put this together. I have no knowledge of whatever consisted in the 2007 article that was led to its deletion - I am presuming insufficient sourcing leading to a consesus of lack of relevance - this new page had more than enough sourced background to qualify. I am uncertain if as an administrator if you can easily see the talk section of the deleted article, but I and another contributor afterwards provided strong background to refute any claims of irrelevance on the part of the silly tag-team described. And finally, if this tag-team cannot be listed in Wikipedia due to "lack of relevance" (which the sourcing proves otherwise), to be consistent would require the deletion of numerous other wrestlers that are on Wikipedia (Tiger Chung Lee, Mr. X, Reno Riggins, Tom Stone, among others).
Yes, it's a ridiculous gimmick, but they were a notable part of pro wrestling lore and one of the signatures of the reign of Jim Herd. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marino73 (talk • contribs)
