Speedy deletion nomination of Christine Hogarth
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Christine Hogarth, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Boleyn (talk) 20:41, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

A belated welcome and note

Hi Magicmondays: I see you got a welcome with an invitation to the Teahouse, which is indeed a good place for new editors to ask questions, with a lot of friendly people who are good at explaining our sometimes arcane rules and conventions, including the editing syntax. But nobody gave you a full "welcome" template with links so you can look up the rules and guidelines. Here's one, a bit late, and you're very welcome here.
Regarding Christine Hogarth, I declined the speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Christine Hogarth and have done some work on it, including re-ordering it and creating sections, identifying the sources, and (re)adding her campaign page as an external link (I can't see the deleted versions of the article). That was the only place I could find anything about her education, although I found a radio interview with her that may add more about her; I can't use that because I don't have sound. The article is pretty slim as a biography. One of her positions is unsourced, and there's little indication of when she did what, and where did she grow up and where did she earn her degree? Do you know of any published third-party sources for that information, including the radio interview? The relevant notability guideline determining whether she merits an article is here: notice that criteria 2 and 3, the applicable ones, both require substantial coverage of her as an individual. As an encyclopedia, we have to be strict about not allowing Wikipedia to be used as an advertising platform; see here and in fact that whole page. That means in practice that there is a far higher chance of an article on a political candidate being judged acceptable if it contains information about the person's life, rather than only summarizing their résumé; this, plus the way the article was structured close to sources that are about her candidacy, is triggering the judgement by some editors that the article is promotional in intent. I am not Megalibrarygirl or Rosiestep, but I hope my work on the draft and this explanation will be helpful. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:24, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
