Regarding my NPP rights
[edit]Hi Josh, I hope all is well with you. I humbly request that you grant me permanent NPP rights. Since I've only started contributing to the backlog (having earned 333 points so far) and considering that the 2 month trial is almost up, I figured it would be appropriate to ask now in case I forgot. I'll be extremely busy for the entirety of next month and the month after that, so I won't do much in the way of NPP patrolling until December. Thanks for your understanding, Wolverine XI (talk to me) 19:52, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Wolverine XI, I actually have some work I'm looking to wrap up before I'm expecting to be less active for a bit. I encourage you to make the request at WP:PERM/NPR so someone else can complete the review properly, since I'm not sure I have the time to do so. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:54, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out. I'll request there instead. Wolverine XI (talk to me) 19:03, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, and thanks for opening the SPI. Are the articles they created eligible for speedy G5? Wikishovel (talk) 09:25, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Wikishovel: I would have liked to get confirmation, but I'll give it some thought and maybe tag the user page tomorrow. It felt about as clear as can be, especially once they edit warred to remove it. It's just SPI is not my forte, but if I was ever sure, I think this would be one of the times. If/when I do tag the user page I'll follow up with the appropriate G5 deletions. I expect I'll see them again during my NPP work. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:55, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, and do shout if you want a spare pair of hands on the cleanup. Wikishovel (talk) 13:57, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
National Monuments
[edit]Your mass nomination regarding National Monuments is not processed at WP:CFDS. I guess there are two possible ways forward. Either you find an admin who is willing to process it from this platform, or you move it all to full discussion. If the latter, you may count on my support. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:09, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Marcocapelle: I'm pretty disappointed that the user has failed to elaborate after I think it was 5 pings and 3 talk page notices, and I think the changes will go through CFD fairly smoothly... but it's a pain to do so to be honest. I really should, but I was kind of hoping that at least the non-national monuments ones would be moved. Really don't feel like a CFD should be necessary to match capitalization that has stood for 7 years, but alas. Maybe I'll be up for it on Monday, I do want to wrap it up, it just makes CFDS so much bigger than it needs to be for a month now. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:28, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- User:HouseBlaster listed them in full CfD today. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:18, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- Very grateful to @HouseBlaster for taking care of this!! Hey man im josh (talk) 15:47, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- User:HouseBlaster listed them in full CfD today. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:18, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
Hello, can you please indicate what sources are available that meet WP:NLIST for this topic? I spent about 10-20 minutes searching but couldn't find any, hence the tag. I'd like to add NLIST-compliant sources to the article, like I did at List of NFL career passer rating leaders. Left guide (talk) 12:57, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Left guide. I'm a bit busy, but the article is actually on my featured list to do list. It'll eventually show it, but for now I don't really have the time. I do however still strongly believe the tag is unnecessary and, to be honest, actually forgot I created the article. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:23, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
1992 Summer Olympics FLC and other FLCs I've been keep up with
[edit]Hello,
I see that you are expanding 1992 Summer Olympics medal table for what appears to be a future featured list promotion. I did attempt to add a few nations that won either their first gold and/or overall Summer Olympic medals along with references backing up that information. If you could see anymore nations that I've missed, feel free to add to that list with an appropriate reference backing that fact.
Also I was planning to add photos of some of the athletes that won gold at this specific edition. Unfortunately, Vitaly Scherbo, who was the leader in golds and overall medals, has no fair use image that I could use. Which athletes do you think I could add on to the side of the table?
I plan to submit 76th Primetime Emmy Awards for FLC on October 10, and I have a current FLC with List of accolades received by Oppenheimer (film). If you have time, could you review that list for featured list promotion? Sgubaldo and I would appreciate the feedback. Birdienest81talk 07:43, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Birdienest81: Thank you! I'm really getting bummed out at the number of significant athletes without an image, and I'm struggling to find appropriate images to include (particularly first time medal or gold winners for countries). I'll definitely be nomming it when I can. If/when I get time I'll do what I can in terms of reviews. Hey man im josh (talk) 10:09, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Review edits
[edit]Hey, Josh. We may have not met, but I want you to know, a glitch on my computer's web browser caused me (in the middle of me logging me into my account) to edit without my username. This problem has been going for the past ten minutes since logging in.
My contribution to this article is tied to an IP address here while my recent edits to Jimmy Iovine and his former label, Interscope Records (IGA/CMG - UMG labels) are tied to me by name ([1][2]).
I assure you, these edits were planned, but my browser's bug and glitch causing my account to bounce in and out between my IP and user edits are unintentional. Please review this for me and see if my username edits are tied to my IP edit for its sister label, please and thank you. Appreciate it. Hope not to get blocked again for evasion or sock puppeting. Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates
[edit]Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.
Here is the schedule:
- October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
- The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
- Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
- The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
- The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
- Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

I know we do not work together closely, but I wanted to say thanks for the fact I always see you popping up. If I casually browse Discord, there you are to answer a question or assist someone. "The page * has been reviewed."
[edit]Hey Josh, I got a notice saying "The page Paris of the Plains has been reviewed." with your username linked at the bottom. I'll admit I'm quite new to creating articles and doing more than wikignoming. May I ask what that means? TheBooker66 (talk) 15:42, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @TheBooker66, it just means I marked the redirect you created (Paris of the Plains), which redirects to Kansas City, Missouri was marked as reviewed. This is a function of WP:NPP, of which I am a part of. While it's not a ringing endorsement of any of your creations, it just means there's no obvious errors with the redirect that mean it should be immediately dealt with. Personally I will say I do think the redirect makes sense, since it's a nickname for the city. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:44, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you! I'll make sure to read WP:NPP. Just one more question: I looked through history of Paris of the Plains and couldn't find any mention of your review there. Do reviews not show up there, or did I miss it? TheBooker66 (talk) 15:50, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- @TheBooker66: Admins (I am one) and those with the WP:New Page Reviewer user group get a special option to mark pages as reviewed, which shows up in the page logs (here), but not in the edit history. You don't need to read through WP:NPP unless you really want to, but a page being marked as reviewed is typically a good thing. It just removes it from our "pages to be reviewed" queue. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:53, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ahh, the logs. Alrighty, and thank you once more. I might not fully read through it, but I'll at least skim as not to be totally ignorant. TheBooker66 (talk) 15:56, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for checking my redirects
[edit]Thanks for checking my redirects. wait how do you do it? how do you check redirects? is it just redirects because when I made a new page I didn't get a message saying it was checked? so are there different people to check pages and redirects? I don't think ill ever wanna do it though, what if make a mistake and allow a bad redirect or a bad page to exist and it stays on wikipedia for years, im just cerous/wondering how you do it. Anthony2106 (talk) 13:42, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Anthony2106. Admins (of which I am one) and members of the WP:New Page Reviewer (NPR) user group have the option to mark pages as reviewed. I see that the article you mention, Angeline (Heartbreak High), has not yet been marked as reviewed, which is why you haven't received a message about it. All of the NPR members have the option to patrol redirects and articles, but each reviewer has their own interests and focuses and there's no requirement that they focus on anything specific. I myself prefer to patrol redirects, as it's often pretty easy to say "well this makes sense, I'll mark it as reviewed", whereas I typically have to do a bit more work for article reviews (not that I don't do them, I've done over 4,000 this year). As for a mistake, well, that happens to all of us. All we can do is our best, skip pages we're not comfortable marking as reviewed, and ask questions when we're unsure. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:46, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- You think my new page would of made it past articles for creation if I made it a draft?, I think it would because its just a episode, but I was worried it wouldn't so just made it directly, I thought to myself "if its longer then other page its fine" The Yellow Lotus was way shorter when made. Also if my page is never approved does it get deleted? Anthony2106 (talk) 14:02, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- I gotta be honest @Anthony2106, episode articles are not my forte and I don't typically review those. With that said, the length of the pages are not typically the primary concern, but what determines notability will typically be the sources available. For articles, if the page is never marked as reviewed it simply stays in the new page queue. For redirects, they're removed from the queue after six months. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:05, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ok thank you. Anthony2106 (talk) 14:15, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- @user:Hey man im josh You know the redirect I made: Mental heath conditions well I didn't realize till after but its slightly pointless because it has a "s" at the end and I ended up not even using it. Do you think redirects with an "s" at the end are pointless? Also I vandled one time, you think this will stop me form becoming an admin? Anthony2106 (talk) 22:37, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Anthony2106: I think possible search terms, which include the pluralized versions of words, are helpful. They're certainly not making Wikipedia worse with their existence. As for adminship, that's likely a couple years away at minimum, but a vandalism edit early in isn't a disqualifying factor so long as it stopped and you build a good body of work afterwords. We all make mistakes. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:03, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Correction of errant title move
[edit]Hi, Hey man im josh! I saw you reviewed my errant title, Disney Junior (UK & Ireland)), which I moved from Disney Junior (British and Irish TV channel), instead of Disney Junior (UK & Ireland), the latter of which was my actual target and the latter two are currently redirects. Could you please move the page to Disney Junior (UK & Ireland) without leaving a redirect, since it's what I was going for/ The rationales/reasons for this is evident at the "Cartoon Network (Central & Eastern Europe)" section here, the RM at Talk:Channel 33 (Israel) and the move rationales by Number 57 here contrary to this. Thanks. Intrisit (talk) 18:58, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Intrisit: I'm not on PC now so I'd suggest you make the request at WP:RM/TR instead. I'd rather not try to correct it via mobile. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:31, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

A quick question
[edit]Hi Josh! I had a quick question regarding informing people about a FLC. Since one of mine is currently in the "urgently needs reviewers" box, I'm thinking of leaving a notice on a few WikiProject talk pages. The issue is that I'm not sure whether that would be canvassing or not (because obviously members of certain WikiProjects could be biased). Thanks! :) SirMemeGod 13:35, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- No issue @Sir MemeGod. I've done that for some nominations needing reviews in the past and I encourage you to use Template:FC notice, as it's neutral. The idea is to just make sure that your notification is neutral, which the template is. It makes perfect sense to notify the groups that are most interested and knowledgeable on the subject, it doesn't inherintly mean that the reviews are going to be biased. I use Gonzo Fan2007 as an example of this. We both love American football, but few people grill me harder about my nominations than they do because they're so in the know on the subject. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:42, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks! :) SirMemeGod 13:51, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Redirect pages about fire
[edit]Hello Josh! I have found you reviewed the redirections I made about fire quenching. Are they OK?

Thanks for your comment at the tectonic plate lowercasing RM, now relisted
[edit]Thanks, and the RM at the talk page of Eurasian Plate was relisted on the 15th, so not much time left. Logic and commonsense would keep the uppercasing on the 90+ plates under discussion, but lowercasers are using the casing guideline, which some of us have countered with WP:IAR and WP:COMMONSENSE which is under fairly intense discussion. If you agree with this approach, or even have more comments, your additional participation may be useful. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:24, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- I hope this message is being sent to all participants to avoid the illusion of canvassing @Randy Kryn. With that said, it's the same three that typically show up to support Dicklyon's proposed moves. I don't think IAR is necessary, as there seems to be a fairly clear consensus against the move which some folks are attempting to bludgeon against. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:36, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Actually the relisting editor mentioned that the opposers had no guideline or policy reason to keep the uppercasing, so the IAR route may be the only one that might hold up as actual policy. And of course, the lowercasers should also have a chance to comment on the further relisting and use of WP:IAR but some already have. I'll notify all but they seem to know about it. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:42, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Randy Kryn: My POV is that COMMONNAME and sources were fairly clear, despite cherry picked sourcing and the nearly always useless ngram usage that certain editors always rely on to downcase anything that has a common noun. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:43, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed, but the relisting editor Amakuru put their thumb on the scale by disregarding Commonname, IAR, and any other points in what seemed to me to be a logical overwhelming consensus. There is quite the discussion taking place on Amakuru's talk page which may be of interest. I hope you keep track of the RM, as it will likely be challenged once closed. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:49, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Randy Kryn: Amakuru is not an unreasonable person, so it'd be best to speak to them directly about it. I've found it best that I walk away from RMs because far too many people bludgeon the absolute hell out of them and cherry pick stats, while ignoring relevant context, in order to down case anything with a common noun. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:51, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, Amakuru has been quite reasonable, which is why I was surprised at their thumb-on-scale comment, and I opened the discussion at their talk page a couple of days ago. Commonname would be argued by the existing n-grams which, although their approach is errorfilled, nonetheless are being used to lowercase what would be a massive change in Wikipedia's geology collection. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:57, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ngrams are absolutely useless for anything that includes any type of common noun imo @Randy Kryn. It's why so many clear proper names end up being downcased with an argument of "inconsistency", even when relevant context and subject matter experts are brought up. I've basically accepted that some of our processes are flawed enough that some editors are able to continue to cause anything with a common noun in it to be downcased. Certainly not an improvement to Wikipedia, which makes us as a whole look worse, and some people should find better ways to contribute. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:01, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, and this is a big one as a major change to Wikipedia's geology and geographic collections, of long-term proper names, and in the size of the items under discussion - the largest named structures on Earth! The "improvement" and "maintaining" aspects are why maybe only IAR can save the uppercasing, but time will tell. Thanks again. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:07, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia has now lowercased the largest named structures on Earth, its tectonic plates. The lowercasers can party like it's 1899! Randy Kryn (talk) 01:36, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ah what a shame that "inconsistent capitalization among sources" leads to downcasing against what subject matter experts state. Seems to only be necessary to show that there's ANY inconsistency, which is obviously going to happen when those unfamiliar with a subject don't realize that the nouns in some proper names are meant to be capitalized and misreport it without the capitalization. Self fulfilling cycle, leading to a worse state of Wikipedia. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:11, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- This, though, is a major one, this now-present error in Wikipedia (uppercased in Britannica and many other sources) presents a societal shift in how the plates are viewed. This one should be challenged, but maybe someone other than myself should do so as I was quite active in the discussion. Do you want to address this in a challenge or maybe one of the geologists would be better (although the first step, of course, is to ask the closer to overturn). Thanks. Glock
[edit]Well of course, now I look like a total numbnuts for reporting a globally locked LTA just for a username vio. But I wish the WMF would make it slightly more obvious when they do. I mean, our block notices are generally impossible to miss. But even though a Glock is even (far far) more severe a sanction than a local block, the info's buried away in the contribs page. Talk about counterintuitive. Hope all is well! SerialNumber54129 17:00, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- No worries at all @Serial Number 54129, you'll never look like a numbnuts for trying to help protect Wikipedia :P I've done the same thing myself in the past! I agree, it would really be nice if the strikethrough option that some of us have enabled for blocked users also applied to globally locked users. That might actually be a useful request now that I'm thinking about it... Hey man im josh (talk) 17:02, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Administrator Elections: Discussion phase
[edit]The discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
- November 1–? - Scrutineering phase
During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.
On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Invitation to participate in a research
[edit]Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,

Could you please restore what was A7ed to draftspace? I was going to redirect the page to Gertrud Kanitz#Persobal life but wanted to see what was there previously. I believe he is notable. Thanks! FloridaArmy (talk) 12:57, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @FloridaArmy, it's not really worth restoring. It's simply "Ernst Kanitz born on April 9, 1894 in Vienna. Died in Palo Alto, CA in 1978." Hey man im josh (talk) 13:02, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. Probably would have been developed by now if it would have been left.. Take care. Thabks for your help. FloridaArmy (talk) 13:05, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
Hello! Hope you're doing well.
I accepted the redirect here because it was mentioned in the target article, just hidden behind a collapsed table. You declined the redirect - and so the page section at WP:AFC/R shows that it was declined even though the redirect was created. That looks to be the only edit conflict I could spot. If you want to look over it again, that would be great. Cheers :-). LR.127 (talk) 14:43, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

About Bairakanda
[edit]I'm curious why you marked Bairakanda as "reviewed". I don't know much about NPP, but I am surprised that this article, which was moved out of Draft space by its creator after being moved there because there is no evidence that the article's topic exists, and is tagged for AFD and has no verifiable references, merits "reviewed" status. What am I missing? Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:03, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95: It's simply standard practice to mark pages sent to AfD as removed. The idea being it's undergoing a community review in a sense, making an individual NPPer reviewing it redundant and unnecessary. Our time can be better spent on other articles, so we do so with the knowledge that, if kept, it's already marked as reviewed, and if deleted, it really doesn't matter. Wabash Precincts
[edit]Instead of rapid fire deleting pages from areas that are not in Canada but are under the jurisdiction of WikiProject Illinois, why did you not instead try to improve them with information that was provided on those pages from the government of Illinois? Rhatsa26X (talk) 00:02, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- This was what was done in neighboring Edwards County, which like Wabash County and around 20 other counties in Illinois. Rhatsa26X (talk) 00:04, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Rhatsa26X, excuse me? What pages did I supposedly delete? I'm not sure what relevance Canada is to the discussion, but for reference, there is no such thing as jurisdiction on Wikipedia. It's not my responsibility to improve pages that I don't have an interest in. I simply marked redirects as reviewed because the redirects were valid, if they stayed as redirects. Hey man im josh (talk) 00:30, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- I just got notification that every single page for every precinct in Wabash County, Illinois has been deleted and you were the one who nominated every one for it. Rhatsa26X (talk) 02:49, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Rhatsa26X: You're definitely misunderstanding something, because I definitely haven't nominated any precincts for deletion. Please look at your notifications again, you'll see that I marked the redirects as reviewed. Someone else redirected the pages. So I'll ask again, what does Canada have to do with evaluating whether a redirect to a target is logical or not? Even if I had nominated them for deletion, the fact I'm Canadian is entirely irrelevant, so I encourage you to not attack editors and imply their opinion is irrelevant based on where they are from. Hey man im josh (talk) 03:07, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

RfD nomination statements
[edit]Hi. Normally I wouldn't worry about this but as you make a lot of RfD nominations, note that it is redirects for discussion (not deletion), so your nomination statement should include a recommended action (or at least be clear that you aren't specifically suggesting anything) as often it seems as though you are advocating deletion but haven't stated so explicitely. From WP:RFDHOWTO step 2 "The action you would like to occur (deletion, re-targeting, etc.) and the rationale for that action.". Thanks. A7V2 (talk) 03:32, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- @A7V2: The implied desired outcome, when one is not stated, is deletion. I don't think that's unexpected in any way when I state something is not mentioned at the target and there's no relevant information there. When I believe there may be a better outcome I absolutely do state the desired outcome / suggestion, historically speaking. Hey man im josh (talk) 03:58, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

List of accolades received by Oppenheimer (film) source review

I was wondering if you could do a source review for List of accolades received by Oppenheimer (film) for featured list promotion. I would appreciate the feedback.
By the way, I will get back to editing 1992 Summer Olympics medal table as soon as I can wrap of the accolades list for Oppenheimer FLC. I've been sidetracked by many things in life as well as Internet Archive being down.
- @Birdienest81: Oops, I missed this comment. The 1992 medal table is pretty much done, but I got bummed out and held up because there's such a terrible lack of pictures which are relevant to add to these lists. I really need to learn more about image uploading and find a source for some of the podium stuff, or for the individuals that are the first of their country to win, or have led the games in medals. I do intend to give your list a review when I can, I've just been busy unfortunately. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:06, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

I do not generally object to redirecting articles, but, if the socking is as prolific as implied, it'd be better to get an outcome at AFD to have it stay as a redirect. Double check
[edit]Hello Josh, Hallowme moved Tyla to multiple titles without reaching any sort of consensus and went as far as to create a duplicate titled Tyla Laura. My guess is that they were trying to get the credits for creating the Tyla article. Can you please look at the article, its talk and subpages and check if there's anything wrong? I can't locate the GA1 page associated with talk. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 14:52, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Dxneo: Ugh, that's not ideal. I'm on mobile right now, which isn't the best for investigating these sort of issues. I had planned to take the laptop out shortly, at which point I'll take a look if someone else doesn't beat me to it. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:00, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

- Well, I am a (former) scholar of classical Greek (Homeric, Attic, and Koine' (demotic), but I suspect this is a mere punctuation omission. I'm reluctant to make such a change because, well, I'm a reluctant editor. Further, I don't know what the intention was of the text; as I noted, there may be some prose omitted. 104.177.133.202 (talk) 21:52, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

On the page of Emma Iranzo
[edit]Hello! Regarding Enma Iranzo Martín, I moved the page from "Enma ..." to "Emma ..." without giving any reference, sorry for that. You reverted back (with good criterion, of course :) ). I changed the page in several languages and forgot to add references, or to review the source of the article. She was a mayor of my hometown and I know her name. For reference, you can check her X (Twitter) account: https://x.com/emmair As I don't want to revert back your edit (no fights here :') ), I just first wanted to talk to you to discuss if we revert back the article again or not. You have way more experience editing/managing wiki articles than I, so I prefer checking with oyu first. Thanks! WikiCholi (talk) 09:30, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
"No significant coverage"
[edit]You tagged approximately a dozen of my articles with template {{No significant coverage}}. What the heck does that mean? I have been creating articles about sports events for many, many years, but this has never happened to me. How about the following article? – 2024 Centrobasket Women. Do you think it's okay? Should I take that as an example of how an article with a "significant coverage" should look? Maiō T. (talk) 16:20, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Maiō T.: I found them while reviewing pages, as part of WP:NPP work. While I believe the events I tagged the articles on are notable, articles are typically expected to contain independent significant coverage in their references. I do not think they'd end up being deleted, which is why I haven't nominated them for deletion, but it's a maintenance tag to signify that the articles would be improved with references from independent sources. National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting
[edit]Hi, I have a question about two users/user pages, the first of which I recently reported/tagged and you blocked/deleted as a result (National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting (talk · contribs) [no ping]). I have coincidentally come across the second user in question, LeeHite (talk · contribs) [no ping] (created in 2020 but only started editing more substantially three weeks ago), because they have made, let's say, noteworthy (as in "worth paying attention to") edits to the article Voice of America Bethany Relay Station, and I just saw that they until recently had this content on their user page. Now to my question: If my memory doesn't let me down here, I believe this content is veeery similar (if not almost identical) to the content of the (now-deleted) user page of National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting; could you perhaps check whether that is the case?
If it is, I have tried quite a bit to find those sentences on the Internet but was unsuccessful (although the museum's official website contains a bunch of sentences similar in structure and voice), which in my view would make it a pretty big coincidence that both users added it to their user pages within a few days of each other. {some info removed by josh, just in case} the user LeeHite also added works this person has written about the museum/station as external links to Voice of America Bethany Relay Station, see diff of all their recent changes.) Let me know what you think, thanks! Felida97 (talk) 13:34, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Felida97: The user that you tagged was exactly identical to the one that user had. I could definitely see a connection, but let's be very careful about any sort of potential WP:OUTING (I may be going overboard, but I'm erring on the side of caution here). It may be worth a report at WP:SPI, because I definitely see what you see. I encourage you to check out Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Conflict of interest reports instead though and send an email there with the information that I've now revdelled. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:41, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- (Sorry for the delayed reply.) Thank you very much for confirming my impression, your assessment of the situation, and directing me towards the ArbCom page (I have just written them an email with the information, as you suggested; let's see what they do with it)! Regarding the RevDel/potential outing: I considered the issue and chose my words carefully, but I can definitely also see that I may have ended up on the wrong side of the line regardless. FWIW, I noticed on the day that you had revdelled my revision but didn't look at your reply until today, because I had a feeling that you did it because I had violated WP:OUTING, and I then promptly had a bad dream the next night about being outed myself, so the next time I will definitely be erring on the side of caution as well :) Thanks again! Idea for a drive
[edit]Hello Josh, I have noticed you have experience with creating and managing editing drives, such as the one for NPP. Is it possible you could refer to me to an admin who could run a drive for adding short descriptions?
Thank you for all your hard work on NFL lists. -1ctinus📝🗨 14:16, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oh it's been my pleasure to work on those lists! As for someone to manage a drive... why not you? You don't need to be an admin to recruit for and manage a drive =) It'd be nice if there was a way to automatically track it, but I don't think the numbers would be anywhere close to accurate. I think you might end up needing to have areas where a user simply submits a list of articles they've added a short description to, you award a point for each short description, and you then hand out barnstars for certain mile stones. The only admin-y aspect that would be necessary would be a mass message to recruit for the drive, which can be requested (see Wikipedia:Request a mass message). You could start by having the recruitment message sent out to Wikipedia:WikiProject Short descriptions/Members, and having the drive listed on watchlists for a week leading up to the start (request at MediaWiki talk:Watchlist-messages). The first drive is the hardest, but it's a worthwhile effort that anybody can take on if they're up for it. Happy to help with questions you may have on it @1ctinus. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:03, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
Would you do me a favour? (if it's not a burden)
[edit]If you don't mind, could you please make another permanent link for me which is nearly identical to this one, but with the text "Eastern " (the space after Eastern is important) removed? It is also crucial that they are red links, so that I could create them as redirects quickly and efficiently. I tried to make one myself, but I'm not smart enough with my word processor to add the "[[" before the numbers without messing them up. If it's in any way a hassle for you to make, then it's fine. Thanks for your previous help and God bless. 𝔅𝔦𝔰-𝔖𝔢𝔯𝔧𝔢𝔱𝔞? 17:23, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Bis-Serjetà?: Absolutely, no problem! It may be a few hours before I can do so, but it's super easy for me to do once I'm not on mobile and will only take me a couple moments. Comment
[edit]Hello again, and again sorry if my comment about your decline sounded too personal or harsh; I was only pointing out what might have been caused by distraction, and expressing my concern about a much more general issue. I thought that it was clear and apologise if it was not. However, I don't think it was necessary to comment the way you did subsequently: Things happen, but your attitude is what leads to a giant backlog instead of people making genuine efforts to help others. But, given your bad attitude, I suspect this will fall on deaf ears.
It sounds like a very personal remark and the responsibility you seem to associate with what you call twice my "attitude" (was it about that message or did I miss something?) sounds a bit extreme. Thank you for your time. Mushy Yank (talk) 00:59, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
About Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jairam Kumar Mahato
[edit]Hi, It has come to my attention that some key evidence was not included in the discussion I am requesting you to reopen the https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Jairam_Kumar_Mahato hoping an response soon! Sarim Wani (talk) 16:04, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

- used Ping|Hey man im josh just just in case @Hey man im josh: Sarim Wani (talk) 05:51, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Sarim Wani: what might this "key evidence" be, then? The new article I subsequently deleted presented precisely zero evidence of notability; and lest we forget, notability is what the AfD discussion you refer to was there to determine. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:53, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- I was trying to reopen the discussion but if you want to "discuss" it here fine
- the following person Jairam Kumar Mahat was responsible for launching a movement in the state (Jharkhand India) so basically languages considered to be from outside Jharkhand like Bhojpuri, Magahi and Angika were included in the list of regional languages for state-level examinations in 11 districts. soo He led the protests with the demand that only the local language should be promoted. He also demanded that natives of Jharkhand should get the jobs in the state and no one from the other states should be allowed due to this he (the person) falls under Wikipedia:Notability (people) (Any biography) "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in a specific field" and under Politicians and judges "Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage" it is also to note it does not qualify under "People notable for only one event" due to "However, if media coverage of both the event and the individual's role grow larger, separate articles may become justified"
- and @DoubleGrazing
- Please assume good faith
- I understand that the nomination of the article may have been frustrating for you. However, it's important to remember that we're all here to improve Wikipedia and ensure that it remains a reliable and verifiable source of information. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia operates under a spirit of collaboration and good faith, and our actions are aimed at maintaining quality, not criticizing individual efforts.
- I encourage you to engage constructively and openly in discussions, as this helps strengthen the community and improve articles in the long run. Let's work together to build a better Wikipedia! Sarim Wani (talk) 10:02, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Sarim Wani: nothing in that constitutes evidence, which is what you said exists. (I'm not even sure it constitutes a credible claim of notability, but that's beside the point here.)
- Closed AfD discussions are not reopened. You can take the matter to a deletion review (WP:DRV), but as there is no question of the discussion having been closed against consensus, you would need to show newly-available proof of notability. So we're back to the question of the missing evidence.
- Finally, when did I assume bad faith? Please point to what I said which demonstrates that. Absent of which, may I ask that you in turn assume good faith. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:22, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

- @Hey man im josh you there man? Sarim Wani (talk) 10:41, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Sarim Wani: I was asking you to produce this evidence that you say exists, so if that's what you mean by "cite it all", then yes.
- If it makes it easier for you to do that (cite your sources), I'm happy to restore the deleted article into the draft space, as long as you agree not to publish it again without sufficient evidence of notability. I would strongly suggest that you put the draft through the AfC review process instead. Let me know?
- And please don't go further down the road of aspersions and innuendo, it isn't helping. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:49, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Double Disambiguation
[edit]Hey, I have to say I was originally going to RFD it, but changed my mind. I cant get my head around it being plausible though. No one is going to double bracket disambiguation search it. They would give up and get multiple hits before that point. Is it worth taking, or is it very unlikely and im wasting my time. Blethering Scot 20:43, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Blethering Scot: I feel you on this one. I'm on mobile at the moment, so I don't have access to my typical bookmarks and references, but consider searching for double disambiguation at RfD. I think I've nominated similar redirects at points and found that they were kept. There are a number of redirects styles that I personally don't like, but I've accepted are not likely to be deleted. I could very definitely be wrong, but double disambiguations are stuck in my head as not inherently deletable for some reason. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:06, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Blethering Scot, now that I'm back on PC, I asked on the NPP Discord server. I was pointed to this large RfC, which includes a lot of noms. There's also this more recent one from a couple weeks ago. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:19, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

Difference between {Quote and {Bquote ?
[edit]Hi, I noticed you changed a “quote” code to a “bquote” code over in the Reservation and disallowance article. Not disagreeing with you, but could you explain the difference between the two? I’ve always thought of them as the same thing? Thanks. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 15:29, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Mr Serjeant Buzfuz, it looks like you're talking about this edit at Disallowance and reservation in Canada. Quote is simply a redirect to blockquote, and if you apply general fixes with AWB, it typically tries to bypass a number of redirects to templates. I have AWB set to not make these minor edits as the only edit on a page, but AWB wanted to make an edit on this page specifically to replace hyphens in date ranges with en dashes (MOS:DATERANGE). Since it was already making an edit, and that the bypassing that redirect wasn't the only edit it was making, it applied all of the fixes along with the hyphen fix. I may not have explained that perfectly... But, in short, it's "don't make these edits unless there's an actual other non-cosmetic edit to make". So, feel free to continue to use quote if you'd like, there's absolute zero harm in doing so and they do do the same thing, AWB just wants to bypass it. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:35, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I’ve seen them both used and didn’t see a difference in output. Didn’t réalise quote is a redirect. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 15:52, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, redirects for templates are entirely fine to utilize @Mr Serjeant Buzfuz. Frankly I'm not sure WHY AWB does that fix, but I kind of just assume there must be a reason and it's not breaking anything, so I haven't tried to fight that part of the edits because it would reduce my productivity :P Hey man im josh (talk) 15:57, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

Zulmarys Sánchez and Miss Universe 2025
[edit]I'm starting to think maybe an "articles for draftification" process would be useful. A place where articles that technically don't qualify for a unilateral draftification can get consensus for a non-unilateral draftification without getting irritation for wasting peoples time at AfD.
Or we can just improve the culture at AfD. Whatever works. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:29, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: I'm always open to ideas, there's no harm in at least talking it out. Unfortunately, I think the fear is that it wouldn't have much activity or people would simply say that it should go to AfD instead. There's also the additional concern about whether there's someone who steps up and is willing to take on said draft, otherwise we're just delaying draftification. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:33, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- All valid concerns. At least the last one can be countered with "G13 is refundable." I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:40, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Request for protection
[edit]Hi Admin, I am requesting your assistance in protecting the Miss Planet International page due to ongoing instances of vandalism. These incidents have occurred since the organization began its current activities, continuing up to the final event. Additionally, there is an issue between the organization and the contestants, and it appears that the vandalism may be coming from individuals in the contestants' home countries. I lack the authority to undo these changes efficiently, as each edit needs to be reversed individually, and they are spread far apart. Thank you for your help. 🌼𝓡𝓬 𝓡𝓪𝓶𝔃🍁 (talk) 07:26, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Rc ramz. Page protection requests should be made at WP:RFPP. The vandalism also appears isolated to a specific IP, which typically means it's better to warn the user for vandalism then report them to WP:AIV if necessary. We prefer to block an individual who's vandalizing as opposed to protect a page when there's only one vandal involved. However, it appears they have stopped for now, so it appears no further action is necessary at this point in time. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:38, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Moderator Tools newsletter - Issue #2
[edit]Welcome to issue #2 of the Moderator Tools newsletter! It's been about a year since the first one (sorry for the delay), but we're excited to tell you what our team has been working on since then, and where you can guide our ongoing and upcoming work.
Automoderator
[edit]Automoderator is now feature-complete for its initial release! Automoderator is a highly configurable automated anti-vandalism tool which reverts edits that a machine learning model determines to be vandalism. It can be enabled, disabled, and configured at any time by administrators via a Community Configuration form. Automoderator is now in use on Indonesian, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese Wikipedias, with other projects at various stages of discussion and setup. You can track data about Automoderator's activity so far via a Superset dashboard. To request Automoderator on your Wikimedia project, please refer to the deployment steps.
We are wrapping up our focused time developing Automoderator while we review data and feedback about its impact. We also still plan to provide support for small Wikimedia projects with few/no administrators (T372280), and integrate the multilingual revert risk model, which is an improved version of the model currently in use, with support for 47 language Wikipedias. We're looking for support testing the multilingual model to better understand its behaviour - please check out the testing process and review some edits!
Nuke extension ('Mass delete')
[edit]During the 2024-2025 Wikimedia Foundation fiscal year, our team wants to make improvements to the software that moderators (patrollers, administrators, stewards, etc.) are using today, rather than focusing on building new tools. Although it's valuable to build new features, it's also important that we continue maintaining the important tools that are already being used to maintain and improve Wikipedia's quality.
One such project is to make usability and feature improvements to the Nuke extension (known as 'mass delete' on some projects). We have contracted a community developer, Chlod, who has worked on the extension in the past, to help us with this! With the Nuke project, we hope to make a number of improvements, including additional filters, increasing the deletion time range, automated deletion of related pages, and bug fixes. Read more about this project, and provide feedback, at Extension:Nuke/2024 Moderator Tools project.
Recent Changes
[edit]As part of our efforts to improve existing impactful moderator tooling, we are working on a project for a few months to make improvements to Special:RecentChanges and related workflows. We will be prioritizing work for this project on an ongoing basis, but have some larger projects that we will solicit input for via our project page. We have a brief survey at Moderator Tools/Survey:Recent Changes to gather input for this project - please answer the questions if you're interested.
Task prioritization
[edit]Finally, looking to the future, we plan to research and work on tasks identified as part of the Community Wishlist focus area titled 'task prioritization'. We'll be looking for opportunities to speak with editors about how they decide what needs their attention, and in particular will be investigating the Watchlist to see where we might be able to make usability and feature improvements. If you have thoughts about opportunities in this focus area please share them on the task prioritization talk page, or file a new wish!
Although we have active engineering projects ongoing, we're always happy to chat about your community's content moderation tool needs - feel free to get in contact at Talk:Moderator Tools to let us know where you think we should focus our efforts. [edit]Hello Josh! Why did you delete Aeroin Aerospace? Please explain. – 𝙰𝚔𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚟™ 🗿 14:15, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Akshadev: It looks like Aeroin Aerospace never existed, did you mean Aeroin Spacetech? If so, that was a redirect left behind from when you moved the page to draft space. Redirects from main space to draft space are deleted under the WP:CSD R2 deletion rationale because redirects from main space to draft space should not exist. - @Sbaio: Thank you for the link. For what it's worth, it looks like {{Official website}} should also be acceptable for use in infoboxes. The main purpose of {{Official URL}} seems to be to pull the data from WikiData. Do you have any thoughts on the influence of "www." in the links in infoboxes? Personally I'm not a fan of it and, based on the usage of the two templates (~322k for official website vs ~15k for official URL), it seems to be used much more widely. I suspect this may have something to do with the ability to pipe with {{Official website}}. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:03, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Talk pages banners and deprecated script
[edit]Hey, I noticed from the edit summary on pages like this that you use the deprecated User:Eejit43/scripts/AFCRHS. When you place a banner with that script it doesn't add the banner shell so the pages end up in Category:WikiProject banners without banner shells. Can you see if the recommended script User:Eejit43/scripts/afcrc-helper works for you? That seems to add the shell. Gonnym (talk) 16:47, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, just a recommendation based upon that page move: John Gielgud, roles and awards & Ralph Richardson, roles and awards might be worth moving and renaming as well for consistency then. Those were the templates from whom I copied the name (and loose setup). --Cinemaniac86TalkStalk 18:06, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ah I wasn't aware of those, thanks for the heads up @Cinemaniac86. I found those based on the sub categories of Category:Lists of awards received by person, which those are not a part of. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:08, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- No problem! I like the general consistency of this, as I don't think most should fuss since it doesn't affect article content. (Unlike Gielgud/Richardson editors when people try to implement infoboxes. Haha, futile endeavors…) Especially glad you changed Ingrid Bergman's too—I forgot about hers, but that one irked my OCD because the title just kinda plunked. Sounds better now! --Cinemaniac86TalkStalk 21:58, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Cinemaniac86: I'm a big believer that lists should follow the same naming scheme when they're about the same content, just with a different focus (person). I'm considering doing more RMs and sets of moves to further standardize things that have been mildly neglected. These things just sort of happen over time when no one is keeping an eye on it and people are trying to contribute constructively without realizing there's already existing naming schemes. Ah well, we can only do what we can do. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:17, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Deleted redirects
[edit]Hello, Josh,
I noticed that you recently created a lot of redirects that were somehow deleted when an admin "nuked" the contributions of a sockpuppet. This seems like an unintended consequence. I have recreated a few of them but you created quite a few so I thought I'd alert you in case you wanted to restore them all. Just go into your Deleted contributions and you'll see them all listed. Sorry for all of this unnecessary work. I still am unsure how they were caught up in this mass deletion of sock pages. I hope you have a great weekend though! Liz Read! Talk! 08:35, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz: This was intentional, I actually helped to create a lot of them. They were all requested at WP:AFC/R. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:18, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Just to elaborate a bit further, it has to do with requests made by socks of TotalTruthTeller24. One of the ways they get around the redirects they want to create being deleted is to request them at WP:AFC/R. I'm actually pretty familiar with them and, frankly, I should have known better when I was processing requests. I was just absent minded, and I do support the deletion of those redirects and deleted many of them myself. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:44, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello there,
- Sorry to interject but I had a hand in dealing with the AFC redirect requests and I must object strongly to this mass deletion. Other reviewers (including yourself) and I found them to be independently valid and therefore created them. It’s illogical to delete redirects simply for who the requester (not creator) was. By the logic presented in the past, I could simply recreate every single redirect and they would suddenly be acceptable. This seems like a “cutting off your nose to spite your face” situation. Why spend a bunch of time taking destructive action simply because someone who the community has labeled as “bad” happened to be involved in the original contributions? Please consider restoring some or all of the redirects. Garsh (talk) 18:51, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Garsh2: I personally had what looks like 361 redirects deleted, most of which I deleted myself, some of which were deleted by Ponyo. Truth be told, I followed @Ponyo's lead, who has much more experience in dealing with socks. Though I wouldn't have started the deletes off myself, I disagree that it's illogical and I do actually agree with Ponyo in this case. The idea is to discourage the sock because they're getting what they wanted by evading the block and requesting that others edit on the blocked user's behalf. Frankly I'm more annoyed at myself that I didn't catch what was happening sooner, I know better, I know that user's behaviour, but I was in autopilot of sorts. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:11, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- I understand the argument behind discouraging the socks, but I don’t think it actually happens that way as this seems to be a repeated issue. To me, a contribution is either constructive or it’s not and deleting things that are constructive is simply destructive. Since this is a multi admin thing, I’ll bring it to the admin noticeboard for others to comment. Garsh (talk) 20:42, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Garsh2: I really think we could have waited for Ponyo to chime in and give their input. As mentioned, I was just helping Ponyo with a task they were working on. At the end of the day, discussion typically is far more beneficial and constructive than a noticeboard, and by going to the notice board, you're prematurely you're feeding the trolls. Never the less, it's there already, so it is what it is. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:04, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- To be blunt, I'm actually pretty upset this went right to WP:AN instead of allowing a conversation to actually finish. Very disappointed we couldn't continue the discussion here until we actually hit a road block and, for all we know, maybe Ponyo / I would have reverted what had happened. Instead, now I have the stress of a noticeboard discussion over my head. Consider allowing discussions to run their course @Garsh2. Things don't happen in less than six hours all the time. There was no reason for the rush before we even hit a point where the discussion was going nowhere. Now this discussion doesn't matter at all, so I guess that's that. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:29, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- I did not intend to jump the shark, upset anybody, or feed any trolls, but this relates to an issue that has been ongoing for months. This is a broader issue and I am confident it is not something that can be resolved here. Nobody is attacking you or Ponyo and in fact, I made sure to clarify in the post that it wasn’t something I was doing. I’m posting about the (lack of) policy, not the redirects were deleted in specific. You don’t even have to view that discussion, as nobody is accusing you of doing anything wrong. Garsh (talk) 23:07, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Chiming in late, but this isn't just a situation where a sock is tricking editors into violating WP:PROXYING. TotalTruthTeller24's entire M.O is to create redirects with one sock, then create problematic articles on their pet subjects by having another sock overwrite the redirect with the same type of content that led them to sock in the first place. They're creating a walled-garden of characters from comic book, manga and anime and are extremely prolific in doing so. Usually they're caught quickly when they create the redirects themselves, but obviously discovered they were more likely to go under the radar if they have a trusted editor at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects create the redirect before they create a new sock to overwrite it. This needs to be shut down as soon as it's detected and the proxied redirects deleted, and policy and the community supports the deletions. -- Ponyobons mots 20:16, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

Contesting the speedy moves of pages like NBA championship–winning head coaches
[edit]As I explained on Category talk:NBA championship–winning players and on the editor's talk page who requested the moves, User talk:BittersweetParadox (who didnt answer my request), moving from "NBA championship-winning players" to the ndash "NBA championship–winning players" is improper English. Compound words like "championship-winning" always use a hyphen. I don't think there is any exception. Hyphens join words and ndashes separate words/phrases. And even when using ndashes (like 2024 Wimbledon Championships – Men's singles) the ndash would have a space on either side. BittersweetParadox said in the speedy move that he wanted the categories to match "Category:NBA championship–winning head coaches" right here... well he failed to realize that the head coaches category was wrong to begin with. Please void all these moves and fix the original category. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 09:34, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Fyunck(click): I cannot simply reverse the moves without discussion or sending them to WP:CFDS. I understand you tried to contest them, I see that now, but I believe the expectation would have been to contest it WP:CFDS. You're welcome to send them back to WP:CFDS with an explanation of this mistake, or to nominate them at WP:CFD. Truthfully, CFD is probably your best bet, since I believe they renamed at least a hundred plus categories that used this style. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:18, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: Hmmm. Per speedy moves at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Speedy it says, "If you belatedly notice and want to oppose a speedy move that has already been processed, contact one of the admins who process the Speedy page. If your objection seems valid, they may reverse the move, or start a full CFD discussion." So it does sound like you have the power to change them if you feel my argument is sound. Can't you talk to a couple other speedy-moving admins and see what they think about my argument? Then I don't have to bring up a new CFD. If it's against the rules of normal English and Wikipedia, it seems they may agree to the reversal. Fyunck(click) (talk) 23:15, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing me to that @Fyunck(click). Truthfully, I just make requests there, but that doesn't stop me from addressing the issue. I'll definitely look into it for you. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:37, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's all I ask. I don't really work on basketball articles so I have no skin in the game, but I recall some of these questions at tennis articles with titles like "US Open – Women's singles" or badminton articles like "Badminton at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's doubles" and I knew immediately this was a category bad move. If it wasn't me, someone would have eventually pointed this error out. I'm surprised the editor requesting the speedy move didn't since I explained it to them on their talk page, but they have made many edits since my post and ignored answering for reasons unknown to me. - I should have just pinged you right away about this, but would you mind looking into this @Ymblanter? I know I'm active at CFDS, but I don't actually process the requests personally, so I think your experience here would be useful. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:36, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- As a non-native English speaker, I have no opinion whether the dash is correct or wrong. In the past, I had users coming to my talk page asking to reverse a (recent) speedy move. When I found the objections valid, I would just add a bunch of categories back to speedy processing (bypassing CFDS), after which anybody is welcome to go to CFD. In exceptional cases, when there were a lot of categories, and it was clear CFD is inevitable anyway (like with LGBT categories) it could be advantageous to go straight to CFD with the understanding than no consensus outcome defaults to moving the categories back. Hey, Josh! I wanted to let you know that I unmarked Lino Tom as reviewed. Unfortunately, the creator has created many AI-generated articles, all of which appear to hallucinate dead references. I have now removed the dead references, which has left the article unreferenced. While Lino Tom is likely notable as a member of parliament, sources need to be added for verification. Administrators' newsletter – December 2024
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2024).
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. All former administrators may now only regain the tools following a request at the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard within 5 years of their most recent admin action. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.

Categories
[edit]Thanks for fixing the sandbox categories, I usually try to remember to do that (and comment out the PP template) but I forget sometimes. Is there a template or something I can put at the top of the page to always disable them? I know thete is draft cat but that also needs to be reapplied each time. The times I forget after when my computer is playing up I paste any unified edits to sandbox, but I forget to follow up the details after I reboot, so if there's something I can put in the sandbox header that would be ideal? Does the standard sandbox header do that? (Tag in reply please) Industrial Metal Brain (talk)
Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 16:28, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Industrial Metal Brain, I'm not aware of anything that does it automatically, no. I personally do prefer the draft cat template you've shared though. That automatically applies the categories once they're in main space, which is great. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:30, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- But does it work if I paste it into main space? Or only if I move it? I use that on actual drafts, but most of the things I forget to follow up on after a reboot are alternate versions of existing pages. I try to paste them onto text editors or Google docs sometimes, but then they often acquire curley quotes or weird line breaks etc. Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 16:39, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Industrial Metal Brain: The draft categories template should auto convert, but rename the template itself, when entering main space. I cannot say what might work best with Google docs. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:41, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh thanks. Rename it to what? Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 22:53, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Industrial Metal Brain: I'm sorry, I'm not actually sure what I meant when I said that... Either way, if you have that draft category template there and move the page to main space, the categories will automatically be enabled. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:22, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh, I was asking what you meant by "but rename the template itself"? Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 16:07, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Industrial Metal Brain, sorry, I'm catching up on talk page messages I missed. I believe I meant to suggest removing the draft category template. The categories will be enabled in main space, once the article is there, but the template will still be applied. It's more an issue of semantics, and technically not actually a problem at all, but more of a general suggestion. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:52, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

Thank you very much for telling me what to do with categories in my sandbox.
[edit]I really hope I my mistake didn't cause any problems and I thank you for your patience. I find the nuts and bolts of Wikipedia very Very VERY CONFUSING. I've tried reading the help pages but after being confused by enough walls of text that refer me to other confusing walls of text as an explanation of the first confusing walls of text I just gave up. I mean, I've been on the verge of tears. That was just silly. It was time to push away from the keyboard for a good bit. I keep coming back because the people here I've interacted with always uphold Wikipedia standards of not biting newbies and being very kind.
So I really, really don't want to cause problems or extra work for admins or patrollers and I will continue to try my best to avoid that. However, I think I'm going to be a newbie for a long time. Wikipedia's nuts and bolts have taught me I'm not the brightest button in the box. Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 21:24, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- It's so minor I'd hardly even call it a mistake @Oona Wikiwalker! Wikipedia is indeed confusing to many, myself included sometimes. That's why we have reports to help out with things. All we can do is do our best, listen to those who approach us about issues, and keep going forward. You're doing fine, don't stress having the categories enabled in your draft, it's extremely common until people learn about it. As a brief explanation of why we disable them, it's because we don't want to pollute categories that are meant for articles with items that are still being drafted. Again, no biggy, just something some of us help out with from time to time :) Hey man im josh (talk) 17:24, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

Redirects
[edit]Hi, I understand you enjoy to redirect everything into everything. I got that and I can't stop you, not in mood to start long discussions. but putting categories into them is something I can't understand. you reverted some of my edits about Karate at the Asian Games categories. Wikipedia:Redirect says Redirects are not usually sorted to article categories with few exceptions. I can't see this applies to any of those exceptions. probably you say that's Subtopic categorization but by my understanding that applies to something like this Figure skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics. there is a subsection for every single event but about this Karate at the 1998 Asian Games there is no section about any of those events, nothing except the medalists names. as I said I'm not in mood to start long discussions. just want to know why you are doing this. Sports2021 (talk) 22:51, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Sports2021: Alright, well, if you want to keep it short, I don't see a reason not to sort these redirects into categories, they fit the criteria at WP:ACATR. It's standard practice for sub topics a lot of the time and that portion of WP:Redirect is most likely referring to things such as typos, alternative names, etc. , Hey man im josh (talk) 22:55, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- how come they fit that criteria? they clearly do not. looking at this , those pages are all redirected to the main page which is also in the same category. Again I have to say this says the opposite of what you said. you have to find a reason to categorize them, not doing this because you see no reason against it. Sports2021 (talk) 23:33, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Sports2021: It certainly does not say the opposite. On the page you linked see WP:SUBTOPICCAT. Consistency with established category a clear reason to categorize sorting regarding topics and sub topics is a valid reason to categorize redirects, and it's quite standard. You're welcome to patrol new redirects, as I do, if you want to see just how common this is. You may also want to implement something that highlights redirects in different colours, as I do (shown at User:Hey man im josh/common.css) which would highlight the frequency and normalcy of this. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:41, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

- @CharlesEditor23: As discussed on your user talk page, you continued to edit war for your preferred version after multiple admins told you to start a discussion, and after a different admin than myself gave you a final warning about such behaviour. Based on the litany of messages and warnings on your talk page, as well as your blocks for edit warring on templates, it's clear this is a long term issue that you've failed to address. Frankly I wouldn't have been unreasonable to block. Learn to start discussions and perhaps it won't be unreasonable to grant you back the permission. Hey man im josh (talk) 03:13, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- I just did start a new talk page message at WT:NFL. I don't know why every time I try to start a new talk page message to discuss it, I get ignored. Why are you ignoring me? How am I supposed to ask right for a comment? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 03:36, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- OK. I'm sorry for WP:Editwarring with you over the wiki-code formatting. I'm also sorry for attacking you. How long must I wait before I can re-apply for template editor rights again? I've tried to start a discussion at WT:NFL. Did you see it? I'm not trying to be intentionally dense or obtuse; I know what I have to do. Please tell me it's possible I can have the template editor rights again? I know I screwed up. What else do you want me to say? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 04:30, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- Did you see the thread I created at WT:NFL? If you have a moment, would you please comment? Also, what do I need to do or say to have my template editor rights restored? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 02:35, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- I was the first person to reply to the thread @CharlesEditor23. You're doing better about explaining the intents at this point in time, but I'm concerned that if you were re-granted the permission you'd go right back to the old habits / issues. I have zero doubt you're trying to be constructive, but you've been having similar issues for years now. For instance, I see several other admins over the years on your talk page about issues, most notably issues brought up by @Eagles247. Nobody wants you gone, but it's a very frustrating thing when you have plowed ahead and made some bold changes that shouldn't have been so bold. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:40, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- OK. How can I prove to you that I would not go back to the old habits/issues? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 15:12, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- @CharlesEditor23: Would you be upset if I suggested you keep at it with discussions for a couple months, then ask for it back? I don't think that would be unreasonable, and the requested edit functionality exists for the specific pages you may need to edit with the permission. It would show you've gotten better at communicating intent and the purpose of such edits, while also giving them a chance to be contested. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:14, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- No. If that's what it takes to get it back, then so be it. At this point, though, that's the only discussion I can think of that I'm engaged in, but who knows? Maybe more discussions will happen in the future. CharlesEditor23 (talk) 16:29, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

- I applaud you for your patience, Hey man im josh, but as far as I can see, nothing with Charles' behavior in the last four years has changed for the better. They get template editor removed, they go along with making discussion threads where they repeat the same thing over and over again and then change their mind a day later, implement the consensus changes, and then after convincing another unsuspecting admin to give them the template editor right again, go back to edit warring a month later. The username changes and threatening retirement is a new development, however. As I said four months ago on Gonzo's talk page, I would support a community ban and I think the latest problematic behavior should convince the rest of the community. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:14, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- "They"? Well, I guess challenge accepted then. Time for me to show improvement. Whatever it takes to avoid a community ban. If you have a problem with my editing behavior, then please bring it up with me on my talk page. But I'm going to show y'all I've changed and I'm going to show y'all I won't make any future edits without discussion first. CharlesEditor23 (talk) 05:41, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Eagles247: You could choose to pursue a ban now, but I think at a minimum, @CharlesEditor23 is aware now (if not before) of the negative perception they have garnered, and seems to be treating this as a last warning. —Bagumba (talk) 06:03, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: I already took them to ANI in August 2020 over similar behavior, where they promised if given one more chance to learn that it will stick this time. They said the same in their request to regain the template editor userright in October 2020, and again in February 2021 when they were given back the userright. They were blocked five times from 2015 to 2017 for edit warring, disruptive editing, and personal attacks. If things were to ever change they would have years ago. Charles, there are currently six discussions I started on your talk page about implementing changes to templates without consensus or general disruption, is it really necessary to add a seventh when the first six didn't change anything? Eagles 24/7 (C) 15:21, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Eagles247: Sorry it's taken so long to respond, but no, there does not need to be a seventh discussion on my talk page about implementing changes to templates without achieving WP:Consensus or general disruption. I've gotten the message. Also, it's my mission to prove to you specifically that not only am I capable of change, but that I intend on changing my editing behavior. Experience is the best teacher, and this whole experience over the 14+ years I have edited on Wikipedia has taught me that I simply cannot impose my wishes against the established consensus or against objections raised by other editors without consequences. No further need to impose a community ban against me. I will prove to you that that is not necessary. I will also prove to you that I am responsible and knowledgeable enough to have the WP:TPE right again, whatever it takes. CharlesEditor23 (talk) 04:09, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

How removed the tag:Draft
[edit]@Hey man im josh:Hi,how removed this tag:Draft in Draft:Deltaven? AbchyZa22 (talk) 14:28, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- You would move the page to main space to remove the "Draft:" prefix, see WP:Moving a page. However, I do not currently recommend that @AbchyZa22. The page needs work on the references used and could use more references. I suggest working on the draft further and pressing the "submit" button at the top to get more feedback from dedicated draft reviewers. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:59, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

As your name appears in the section immediately above (the wikilink), would you be able to remove protection? I could use an {{edit protected}}

Submitted my Poppert Bernadas for review
[edit]Hi Josh. Thank you for your recommendations. I have already edited the articles with sufficient citations from reputable sources. Can you help me getting it published? Padreburgos2020 (talk) 01:42, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- I see that you have already submitted it at WP:AFC, so hopefully someone will be able to take a look at the draft soon. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
I read the AFD and looked at the headings of the participants without reading the rationales in detail, and then started to write my Endorse. After I had written it and before I had posted it, I saw that you said almost the same things, including that the draftification gives the proponents longer to find sources than a Relist would. So I didn't say As Per, but have wound up saying almost the same thing as you did. Maybe that is more of an argument than saying As Per would be. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:46, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Aharoni-Korman Conjecture
[edit]Hey Josh, I wrote my first article recently about the Aharoni-Korman conjecture and it got drafted, I was just wondering what I needed to do to make it an appropriate article? Something I'm quite interested in so I'd be happy to write more it's just difficult writing math on wikipedia. Thanks. Roblewi (talk) 17:19, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- You are welcome to make changes, specifically adding relevant citations, and either move the page back to main space or press the "Submit for review" button to have someone review the draft and give feedback. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:54, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Cupra Kiro deletion
[edit]Hey, I saw that you reviewed the page Cupra Kiro which is a redirect. I wanted to ask if that page could be deleted because it's not used anywhere and it is unneccesary. In articles related to Formula E that use it, Cupra Kiro is linked separately like Cupra Kiro. Cupra is a car company and is supposed to be linked separately like shown above. I'm not sure why Sendanlang redirected Kiro Race Co to Cupra Kiro, but it was unnecessary. It would be more confusing to have this redirect exist and for it to just go to Kiro Race Co and not have Cupra be present. SteeledDock541 (talk) 23:17, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- @SteeledDock541: We don't delete redirects just because they're not linked anywhere. Often times, a redirect is a possible useful search terms in some circumstances. If you want the redirect to be deleted, which I'm not sure is entirely unuseful (though you may know more than me on the subject), you'd have to nominate it for deletion at WP:RFD. Hello! Hope you're doing well.
I noticed you accepted a request at WP:AfC/R, and I believe this request is connected with Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Demographics vandal - although this is disputed at WP:AIV. I've unknowingly created hundreds of redirects requested by them previously (as well as TTT24's requests), so they're now stuck in my head as a reminder before I accept such requests - I figured it wouldn't hurt to let you know as well. Cheers. LR.127 (talk) 18:36, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

1970 & 1970s
[edit]Sorry, I think I caused confusion by renaming the page in draft space before moving it back to main. Was the page I put in draft space the page that is now at 1970s or 1970?
I was trying to swap the page created in 2024 by me to be one of the redirects, and then use one of the original pages for the merged page, by pasting the current merge over it.
My goal was to have the history of the merged page include the date the contents was first created and who created it.
But it looks like the current 1970s merged page started in 2024?
But maybe what I was trying to do is not useful?
Sorry again for not communicating that very well.

A request to block an user.
[edit]Hello, I'm Quangminhvilla, one of the editor on Wikipedia. I hear that you are one of the admins on Wikipedia, so I want to ask you for help. In the few months before, the article 2023 AFC Asian Cup had an user name RealLifed was vandalism the article so many. Since the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, there was no third place match. But he always edited the third and the fourth ranking on the 2023 article, which lead to many user have to reverted the article many times. He always said that the reason was he used it from the AFC website, although there was no source about it. I have already gave him a warning for this, but he said threatly for me and always said by using CAPSLOCK to tell many user when they said to him politely. I think this user not only used incorrectly sources but he also one of the dangerous user that threaten anyone. So this message today is can you help me block this user please? Because if anyone warning to him about it, he will not change and still violated to them. Thank you for reading this message. Hope you have a good time during this week. Quangminhvilla (talk) 06:40, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- This is a conversation that would have been best had on the talk page of 2023 AFC Asian Cup. For what it's worth though, I am seeing on their source provided (found here, on page 20), it does list a third and fourth place. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:32, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
I have sent you a note about a page you reviewed
[edit]Hi Hey man im josh. Thank you for your work on Gender delusion. Another editor, DoctorWhoFan91, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Are such bigoted redirects allowed, just because bigoted people might search for it?
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|DoctorWhoFan91}}
. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:58, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- @DoctorWhoFan91: While perhaps the redirect itself is bigoted, I do suspect it could be a possible search term for some who are ignorant. We have to toe a fine line sometimes (in terms of inflammatory redirects) and I fully accept that I may be wrong about the acceptability of this redirect. I thought it to be a relevant search term for such bigots who would then, hopefully, learn about the actual condition of gender dysphoria. I wouldn't be upset if you wanted to see what WP:RFD thought of this by sending it there though. It could be an opportunity for me to recalibrate and retune what I view as the line. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:05, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- And it's now at RfD. I welcome the input and feedback of others. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:16, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give D raft:2024 NBA Cup championship game a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2024 NBA Cup championship game. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Izno (talk) 17:48, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Izno: It looks like my only part in that page was creating a redirect that was later turned into an article. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:51, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I usually do a history merge a less noisy way and didn't do that today woops. Izno (talk) 17:56, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
Stainton
[edit]WP:ENGPLACE does say that when a unit isn't a proper noun we can use lower case compass directions. Stainton, Westmorland and Furness would be correct if it wasn't for Stainton, Dacre also being in Westmorland and Furness. Stainton (near Sedgwick) or Stainton (near Kendal) might be better due to Stainton with Adgarley so the article should be moved back to Stainton, south Cumbria or maybe better moved to one of the "near" alternatives, thanks. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:09, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Crouch, Swale. Well that's annoying... I don't object to any move you have in mind, but ugh, it just feels awful to do "south Cumbria" when "South Cumbria" isn't a proper place. Blech. Thanks a lot for merging counties with so many identical names! Hey man im josh (talk) 18:13, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Which one of these do you think would be best if you don't think we should use "south Cumbria"? Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:21, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'll defer to you in this case, I don't feel any option is particularly better than another, including reverting to the previous name (which I won't object to). Hey man im josh (talk) 18:22, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

Comments at PERM
[edit]Thanks for your kind words. I've responded to Joe at my talk page and if you have additional feedback I'm open to it. Good to know I'm operating in consensus in my use of draftification. Dclemens1971 (talk) 12:44, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Dclemens1971: You absolutely are. I've openly discussed my issues with Joe's views, and POV pushing, regarding draftification. I think his approach, which leads to more deletions, is far bitier to newcomers than sending something to draft space and saying, "hey, this needs a bit of work". He's actually convinced me of the importance of draftifying, and I've been doing it even more because of that. His views have pushed a number of good people away from NPP and I find it quite frustrating because I genuinely care. Unfortunately that led me to make those comments at PERM which frankly don't belong there and should have been made elsewhere, but I don't think that's how we should be teaching people or changing NPP's approach, with comments at PERM. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:01, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Josh what are you talking about? The discussion above is not even about draftifications. Dclemens1971 made a number of criticisms of another editor at PERM which I believe were unfair and so I responded to them at PERM, to reassure the editor that they were criticising that they were not doing a bad job.
- And can I for the second time this afternoon remind you that, while nobody can stop you shit-talking people on Discord, when you comment on Wikipedia you must abide by our conduct policies, which means providing evidence when casting aspersions such as that an newbie reviewer has been reviewing badly,[3] or that my "views expressed are typically done so at the wrong venues and not discussed / adopted at the relevant NPP talk pages",[4] that I am "POV pushing" or that I have "pushed a number of good people away from NPP".

- Sorry @Joe Roe, but I'm not really interested in discussing this further if you refuse to WP:AGF of others. I have a lot going on and it's not unreasonable to believe I legitimate forgot to come back to the discussion until I was pinged to it. I do not wish to waste time on conversations if they are not going to be constructive. Josh, thank you for all your help removing some after checking at WP:CFDW over the past year. It is really appreciated :) Beyond that, your work recruiting for NPP and the amount of WP:FLs you have written over the past year are great. Crucially, you wrote List of New England Patriots first-round draft picks, which this Patriots's fan appreciates. (28–3!) Wishing you and yours the best a great 2025, and happy holidays!
