Jairam Mahato is an Indian politician from Jharkhand.[1] He is also the working president of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, a newly formed political party in Jharkhand.[2]
Early life
[edit]Mahato was born in Dhanbad District, Jharkhand to Krishna Prasad Mahato, a freedom fighter for Jharkhand state. His father died when he was a child. He was the eldest child of his parents. He is pursuing PhD in English Literature.[3]
Career
[edit]Mahato a youth leader who rose to prominence through his activism.[4][5] Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyan Sangharsh Samiti led by Jairam Kumar Mahato contested the elections as independents in eight seats in Jharkhand.[6] He contested as independent candidate from the Giridih Lok Sabha constituency, finishing in third position with a total of 347,322 votes.[7] Known for advocating on behalf of students. His commitment to addressing these concerns positioned him as a key voice for justice, eventually leading to his entry into formal politics.[8] Under his leadership, JLKM is going to contest in 74 out of 81 assembly constituencies in 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election.[9]
