Redirects work perfectly fine here

[edit]

You may want to rethink that. Redirects require additional computation cycles, putting additional load on the servers and costing energy that wouldn't be spent with direct links. It adds up with billions of accesses to the Wikipedia site. — Foxtrot1296 (talk) 20:15, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOPIPE explicitly says that it is not good practice to pipe links for the sole purpose of avoiding redirects. QuicoleJR (talk) 20:17, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

run flat tire

[edit]

hello, i have add a new section about 4 th gen of run flat tire which have some improvement compared to old version but my section was deleted, you said that the reference is pointing to promotional article which is not. could i know how to improve it? MohamedEldemrdash (talk) 10:53, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That section appeared to be written in a way that tries to convince people to buy those tires. It also cited only a website you appear to work for as a source to support that information. I appreciate that you want to help, but please keep in mind NPOV and CITESELF while adding to articles. QuicoleJR (talk) 13:33, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

nomination #565. As is my habit, I spend a little time at the next editors user and talk page before the actual awarding. What a treat! After the new year, I plan on asking her for assistance on some Washington community articles that have been on my back burner for years. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 20:47, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!

[edit]

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Request on 21:36:22, 5 January 2025 for assistance on AfC submission by 2A01:4B00:BC28:5000:E4A6:2F6E:28C1:5848

[edit]

The review feedback was a little vague as the article is certainly not an advertisement- all info is based on reliable articles. Please can you specify the reasons for the rejection comments so they can be rectified?

2A01:4B00:BC28:5000:E4A6:2F6E:28C1:5848 (talk) 21:36, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The information is sourced, but the draft is worded like it is trying to promote this individual, while Wikipedia articles should be neutrally worded. For example, we typically don't use the phrase "award-winning" in articles, instead simply giving the awards won. Hope this helps. QuicoleJR (talk) 00:22, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Pokémon Smile

[edit]

On 7 January 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Pokémon Smile, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that players play Pokémon Smile by brushing their teeth? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Pokémon Smile. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Pokémon Smile), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Sikhphobia

[edit]

Just as islamophobia topic exists so should a separate Sikhphobia article exist to deny is racist, prejudiced and discriminatory. Bluestarz2024 (talk) 18:24, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Such an article does exist, it is simply titled anti-Sikh sentiment. Sikhophobia redirects there. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. QuicoleJR (talk) 18:27, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Teaches Typing

[edit]

Hi! :) I've expanded the Mario Teaches Typing article. Can it be considered a B class now? + can you help expand it with the new added reviews. Timur9008 (talk) 09:16, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I reassessed it to B-Class. Great work! QuicoleJR (talk) 15:29, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Not sure what's it going to take to get it to GA or FA but it's impressive given the page was a redirect before. Timur9008 (talk) 15:45, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to get it to GA or FA, I would recommend expanding the gameplay section if possible and paraphrasing the quotes in the reception section. I don't think it is too far off, but it still needs a little more work. QuicoleJR (talk) 15:48, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Sherif_Bishara - Please move from the draft page.

[edit]

Dear QuicoleJR

I have updated the draft for the Sherif Bishara article by incorporating new reference links from reputable magazines and news-related websites. Additionally, I have removed some interlinking to improve the article's structure. After meeting Mr. Sherif Bishara at the recent conference, I felt inspired to create a dedicated page for him. Kindly review the article and consider moving it from the draft page. Thank you for your support! Aliyamanas (talk) 07:33, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Aliyamanas: Thank you for contacting me. Unfortunately, I do not believe this draft is ready to be an article yet. It still reads more like a resume than an encyclopedia article. I would want it to be written in an encyclopedic tone before it is published. However, I don't like to decline the same draft more than once, so if you would like to get another reviewer's opinion on the article, you can resubmit it for review by clicking the blue button that says Resubmit. Hope this helps. QuicoleJR (talk) 13:30, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
