Wikipedia:WikiProject Visual arts

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Visual arts)

WikiProject Visual arts, a sub-project of WikiProject Arts, is a place for Wikipedians to discuss issues and organize information about the visual arts. Like any page on Wikipedia, all are welcome to edit and contribute to this WikiProject.

Rather than try to force information to appear in a uniform way, this WikiProject presents guidelines to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. These recommendations for creating visual arts content are based on various Wikipedia style guides and common practices for writing good articles. Use your own judgment in applying these guidelines, along with other Wikipedia guidelines, to compose articles and be bold.

If you would like to help, see the How to help section below and ask questions on the talk page.

Feel free to add your name to the participants list and/or add the project userbox {{User WikiProject Visual arts}} to your user page.

Articles for deletion

[edit]

It is important to have an input into Articles for deletion. There is now a special page for visual art articles, which needs to be maintained, updated and monitored. It can be found here: WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual arts. Articles need to be added manually: please add any AfD you want to draw attention to, and also put it on your watchlist.

Larger tasks

[edit]
  • Move art images to Wikicommons. Suggestion only. Move eligible (world-wide public domain) art images to Wikicommons
  • Categories.See Portal:Visual_arts/Categories. Categorization ideas Art categories
  • Increasing the representation of visual art outside the Western canon: a task force page lists target articles for improvement or creation, as well as related resources
  • Development. Can we try and get Arts and Crafts Movement at least up to B-Class? The article on this important and influential movement, which dominated the decorative arts in Britain from 1890–1915, should be a lot better than it is. I have added to it but I'd appreciate some collaborators.

Visual arts project

[edit]
  • Add the project template {{Visual arts}} to the talk pages of relevant articles that don't already have one.
  • Join the discussions on the project talk page.
  • Publicize – Inform editors who have displayed interest in visual arts about the project via their talk page.
  • Take a look at the project to-do list and help with listed project-related tasks.
