Speedy deletion nomination of Dhobi Kanaujia(brahmin)

[edit]

Hello Wikishovel,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Dhobi Kanaujia(brahmin) for deletion, because it's a redirect that seems implausible or is an unlikely search term.

If you don't want Dhobi Kanaujia(brahmin) to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Yes, I never bothered to get the permissions for moving pages without leaving a redirect, but I suppose I should get them. Wikishovel (talk) 20:01, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to upload Crossnet Logo on Crossnet article

[edit]

Hi Wikishovel, please help explain how to upload Crossnet Logo on Crossnet article. Logo has been flagged for possible speedy deletion. How can I appeal, and publish under a free license? How do other companies get their logos on this website? Sorry but I do not know all these rules. BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk)

Hi, copyright is the problem. You've uploaded the company's logo as your own work. Over at Commons you mentioned that you had permission from the company for use of the logo: could you please clarify? Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 05:13, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, when I uploaded the company's logo, I meant for it to say company's work with their approval. I was trying to add the image as quickly and frictionless as possible not realizing how strict the process was... Would you like to see an email exchange with the founders asking if it is okay? If so, I can use your email template, and I can CC you? If not, how do companies get their logos into the free section? Its not so straightfoward. Frankly, is there a good reason the company should not want their logo on wikipedia and beyond? Thanks, BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 05:23, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes Wikipedia and Commons both have to be strict about copyright, or they'd get sued into a smoking crater. Have a read of Wikipedia:Logos for the best way to proceed with a non-free logo. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 05:33, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay understood thanks, I still find this very confusing and difficult to figure out. I will circle back if I make progress reading this Wikipedia:Logos and have questions. Thanks, BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 05:52, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Should I try tomorrow to upload image again or leave it alone? I hope I do not get blocked for this... when I upload, just add 'non-free logo' & 'trademark' tags? Thanks, BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 06:43, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, you won't get blocked for a mistake made in good faith. And yes copyright rules are horribly complicated, because lawyers. Wikishovel (talk) 07:20, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there

[edit]

Hey, I made Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Shiltonjojo on which you may want to comment as you've queried some of these accounts directly and may have more to add. Mvqr (talk) 17:15, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I just finished dinner and was about to open an SPI, but you beat me to it.
And were more thorough than I would have been TBH - I overlooked the blocks on CK, and just had some vague suspicions on behaviour and timing. I'll jump in and add my two penn'orth. Wikishovel (talk) 17:29, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - did you see that retaliatory SPI they raised about you? They had obviously spent a fair amount of time going through your contribs - are you aware of any LTAs that have a beef with you? Feel free to let me know if you start getting any weird messages or someone appears to be trying to harass you. Girth Summit (blether) 09:51, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, yes I saw your comment at the SPI for Sathishcm, and had a read - what a lot of effort digging through thousands of my boring Wikignome edits, for that. No, I'm not aware of any LTAs that I've annoyed before. But the effort spent on this, especially the revenge SPI attempt, suggests that there's money riding on that AFD. The editor posted there as Topboy92 at about 2am IST last night. Thanks for your quick work on this, and for the offer of help. Wikishovel (talk) 10:08, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There might be other new articles you patrolled, proded, put up for deletion and the like with this guy using different accounts. It appears to me they are creating new articles with different newish autoconfirmed accounts. They have obviously been at this for a while with some of their accounts dating back to 2007. --Mvqr (talk) 10:20, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then Sathishcm is probably not the correct master yet. I have seen that style of writing before, can't quite remember in which AFD(s) though. Wikishovel (talk) 10:23, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Consider they made all of two edits in 2007 with that account before showing back up with it in 2023, it is obvious there are more and probably other SPI cases with legs. Mvqr (talk) 10:28, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to help dig for this, if you ping me when you spot a potentially overlapping AFD, and I can vice versa, if you like. LTA work looks like hard graft, but necessary. It must be even harder without admin rights, but I wouldn't be an admin for any money, heh. Wikishovel (talk) 10:40, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Abubakar Inuwa Tata moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Abubakar Inuwa Tata. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it needs more sources to establish notability, it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and some of the citations do not support the statements made. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. —Alalch E. 14:37, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:2023–24 Women's Big Bash League season indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 17:22, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help formatting

[edit]

Hi, can you please help formatting Tanjay National High School under the program below so that it is clickable and not directly visible. Thank you. Rc ramz (talk) 05:44, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've added categories, and linked to it from Tanjay, so it's no longer an orphan article. Was that what you meant? Wikishovel (talk) 06:33, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you so much I greatly appreciate it Rc ramz (talk) 06:51, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Change the Category

[edit]

Hi, I would like to inform you that Tanjay National High School is not part of Negros Occidental category but it is part of Negros Oriental category because Tanjay National High School (TNHS) is a public high school in Tanjay City in province of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental is her sister province. Can you please change the category into Negros Oriental. Thank you:-) Rc ramz (talk) 06:59, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ah sorry about my error. Please just go ahead and change that. Wikishovel (talk) 07:15, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can't change it for now because it has restrictions and limitation can you please do it. Than you. Rc ramz (talk) 07:28, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, I've checked, it's not restricted. Just hit the "edit source" link at the top, scroll down to the categories at the bottom, and change "Occidental" to "Oriental". Wikishovel (talk) 07:31, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I just did Rc ramz (talk) 08:05, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why is draftification appropriate here? I suggested a merge to CID (Indian TV series). ~Kvng (talk) 13:55, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I didn't draftify, that was User:Sid95Q. Wikishovel (talk)
Thanks, I see that now. ~Kvng (talk) 14:27, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Karanga and Kalanga

Page mover granted

[edit]

Hello, Wikishovel. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 08:28, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

[edit]

Hello, Wikishovel,

Please use Twinkle to tag pages for speedy deletion. Set your Twinkle Preferences to "notify page creator" and then Twinkle will post a notification on the talk page of the article creator informing them of the tagging and letting them know the reason why. It's an important step of the deletion process. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:14, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz: Hi, I do use Twinkle for this, but in this case I did it with Twinkle in two steps, to avoid posting what looks like the name of a living person on the vandal's talk page. They know which article I mean. Wikishovel (talk) 05:19, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jackson Maier Thread (Working Together)

[edit]

First, I have to ask you to stop destructive editing of Jackson Maier. There is a way to do things. I am happy to work with you on changed you deem necessary, seems like you have good experience. The talk page is for discussion those kinds of changes. You can use the sandbox to pitch the code here or on the talk page. Again, please stop destructive editing and edit warring. Faits1789 (talk) 16:51, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removing unsourced claims from WP:Biographies of living persons is not destructive editing. Please read WP:Edit warring if you'd like to learn what that is. Wikishovel (talk) 16:54, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There's no reason to be abrasive. If you look at my contributions, I specifically narrow my editing focus into help edit up to code for notability and/or sourcing. I label when necessary and I've done that to a plethora of articles recently. There's another user who is helping with reforming the citations and page. If it was a passing edit (it was destructive, articles aren't for sandboxing) then I appreciate your insights truly. If you want to participate on the other thread I would value your insights. Faits1789 (talk) 17:00, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You've restored all of the unsourced and WP:BLPPRIMARY claims to the article. You must revert this, or you risk being blocked by an administrator. Wikishovel (talk) 17:02, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I removed that section, mentioned that in my comment. Was there anything else? Obviously I don't want that. Again I'd appreciate if you could speak a little more respectively, I make good contributions and I keep asking you for things like advice. You're responding with threats. As I said, tell me and I'll bring it up to your expectation Faits1789 (talk) 17:05, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't fought you on anything once, so please do not have me banned. I'm saying heard and understood. Let me know what actions to take on unsorced material. Faits1789 (talk) 17:07, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I actually found a picture of him wearing the necklace of the clan and pictured with the family. Will upload those for citation later today. Comes from a verified account online. Will make sure to leave a summary Faits1789 (talk) 17:10, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea what I've written here that's rude, and I certainly don't want to see you banned. But I've reverted the unsourced, WP:BLPPRIMARY, WP:Original research, and WP:Synthesis claims that you re-added to the article. Please don't add them back without WP:Reliable sources to WP:Verify what you're writing. This is especially important in WP:Biographies of living persons. Thank you. Wikishovel (talk) 17:11, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I was the one who suggested taking changes to the talk page. Going forward any questions about changes will be pur there, and all changes will be sourced. Faits1789 (talk) 17:13, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, but as noted in WP:BLP, "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion" (emphasis added by the authors of that policy). Wikishovel (talk) 17:15, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification and link there so I can review and be a better editor in the future. I know this place can be hot with problems but trust me I'm not one of em. Before I saw this I removed that section and will carefully review any added material or revisions related to what has been noted by you. As I suggested in the theead, I'd like to be able to consult with you. Just FYI I changed the name in his infobox as the field was for most common. If we don't form consensus on this Dlamini thing I plan to transition it to the regular infobox. Faits1789 (talk) 17:30, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Would a publically posted photo of him in the Swazi Royal family necklace be considered a solid enough source? Faits1789 (talk) 19:37, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, please see WP:Synthesis. Wikishovel (talk) 02:56, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't fighting or anything with the user. I was just warning the user thinking that it was an appropriate template.

So requesting you to assume the warnings as good faith. Proper warning is posted at the user's page now. Thewikizoomer (talk) 13:11, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The addition was unsourced

The citation was empty hence the unsourced material was removed. I checked for citation but none was found except the citation ref template.

diff -https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=2023_G20_New_Delhi_summit&diff=1174767930&oldid=1174766271 Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:29, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you not see in that diff the references from CNN, Washington Post and Reuters? Wikishovel (talk) 15:30, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They were related to the demolition but they however don't appear to be linked to the summit as informed by government agency - private news source confirmed the govt. report. The demolitions were as per Indian supreme court order and not related to G20 summit in New Delhi - https://www.newsx.com/pib-debunks-cnns-claims-for-g20-summit/ Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:33, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then reword or add to the paragraph, don't delete wholesale. If you read the sources cited, they all link it to the G20. The government disagrees. We therefore document both claims. Wikishovel (talk) 15:36, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why should the paragraph exist in the 2023 G20 New Delhi summit page if it is not linked to it? Hence removed. Also understand I did that in good faith and wanted to maintain page's relevance. Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:38, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad to hear it was in good faith. Wikishovel (talk) 15:39, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The government disagrees and provided court orders. So yeah, as you said, this may be continued in the article's talk page. Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:39, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to say thanks for the cleanups on the bios I've been posting. I very much appreciate it. Nowa (talk) 23:59, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Nowa: You're very welcome, and thanks for all the work you've done on the subject.
I've been wondering whether a category is a good idea for that sweeping investigation in Georgia, which intersects with investigations in other US states: it would likely encompass several notable events and people. There is a List of alleged Georgia election racketeers in Category:Attempts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election, so a category is probably inappropriate for now. I've just linked Cathy Latham and Bob Cheeley in that list article. Wikishovel (talk) 06:56, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Karanga and Kalanga

[edit]

I think you are mistaken on Karanga and Kalanga. There is the Kalanga which others regard as Ndebele subgroup while other regard them as a tribe on its own. They originate from Nguniland. However there are Karanga who are a Shona subgroup whom built the Great Zimbabwe ruins who are largest Shona subgroup. They were in Zimbabwe before Ndebeles ShonaNdebele Historian (talk) 10:06, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There was a redirect on 2023 Zimbabwe General Elections article directing to the newly created Karanga(Shona subgroup) article. That page is still there but it’s redirecting to Kalanga article which are different from Karanga.I have the evidence to cement my position on the article. New pages patrol invitation

[edit]
Hello, Wikishovel.
  • The new pages patrol team is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles and redirects needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • I believe that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Thanks, Hey man im josh (talk) 18:05, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi Wikishovel. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 12:50, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Chronicles (magazine), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Samuel Francis. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I boldly removed your CSD from Draft:Thala (film) because of the ANI discussion here Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Godjo J I wanted editors to see the pattern of editing and cleanup.

Thanks for understanding, if you object I will revert my change.  // Timothy :: talk  19:31, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User:Wikishovel, thank you for monitoring articles related to the Church of Bangladesh. Some of the edits on those articles were inaccurate, such as this one. Please continue to keep an eye out for further disruption. Kind regards, AnupamTalk 17:14, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the corrections: I'm able to revert the obvious stuff, but I didn't know anything about United Protestant etc, so a big thank you for the work you've just done on several Church of Bangladesh articles. Wikishovel (talk) 17:37, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! United Churches (or United Protestant Churches) are denominations that are created by the merger of various Protestant denominations, such as Anglicans, Continental Reformed, Methodist and Presbyterians. The blocked user seemed to be emphasizing the Anglican identity in an WP:UNDUE way when the Church of Bangladesh is a United Church, being created from both the Anglican and Presbyterian denominations in the area. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 15:11, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol newsletter

[edit]

Hello Wikishovel/archives,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Not sure, but I believe with G5 it's at the administrators' discretion. To be honest, it seems unlikely that the article will be created by anyone other than the blocked account, so maybe G5 made sense in this case. You could also ask the deleting admin, User:Liz. Declined speedy deletion of Adwaith PV

I've declined your speedy deletion request of Adwaith PV as being an Indian record holder is a credible claim of impoortance. However, that person does not meet our notability guidelines so I've nominated at AFD instead. -- Whpq (talk) 20:43, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tip: G5 speedy deletions

[edit]

You may want to know that the G5 criterion applies to articles that were created by a blocked editor while they were blocked -- i.e. by a sockpuppet, after the master was blocked. I do not think that Draft:T-Series (Music) fits this criterion; it was created in February but the master was only blocked this month. You may want to try another route to deletion, or just let it expire as an abandoned draft. ☆ Bri (talk) 21:44, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I made this mistake both here and at Draft:Eagle Music (record label) (same creator), and GBFan declined the latter G5 for the same reason. I guess I'll just leave them to expire, or as a honeypot for the socks. Thanks. Wikishovel (talk) 22:00, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:MaxVal Group, Inc.

[edit]

Err, did you actually read Draft:MaxVal Group, Inc.? It's not an article, it's a misplaced attempt to reply to my message on their talk page. It doesn't belong in mainspace or draftspace. – Joe (talk) 17:46, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to do with that one. It wasn't quite db-empty or db-test, but it needed to be out of main space, so I figured in draft maybe they'll turn it into something resembling an article. What should I have done? Wikishovel (talk) 18:08, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
{{db-contact}} is probably the best-fitting template, but any way of bringing it to my or another admin's attention would do. It's no big deal but, since you are fairly new to new page patrolling, I hope you can indulge me a bit of unsolicited advice: putting hopeless content in draftspace and be just as discouraging to creators as putting good content there. Draft:Ruposhi Bangla College is another example – it should have been a {{db-empty}}. Many new NPPers fall into the trap of using draftspace for anything they're not sure about, but that's really not what it's there for. – Joe (talk) 18:26, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joe Roe: do me a favour and re-read this section. Look at your sarcastic, belittling opening sentence. I work really hard here. Would a little kindness really have killed you? Wikishovel (talk) 20:02, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Wikishovel, I can see what you’re calling the copyright issues, which is the summary of the movie, however, summary of the movie is the same across board and I still put it up in my own word, but I’ve since removed it as advised by you, so that’s why I removed the tag, since that particular heading has been removed in completion B.Korlah (talk) 12:41, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the copyright from the visible article, but for legal reasons must also be hidden from the edit history of the article. Please wait until an administrator fixes this problem before removing the copyvio template again. Wikishovel (talk) 12:44, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Wikishovel. I did a once through on Systematic Software Engineering to remove promotional language. Honestly, if you look at the cited material, it's often the same language. Could you point to one or two phrases you've found problematic? I'll remove them and any other phrases like them. Thank you for your time on this. MatthewDalhousie (talk) 08:45, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thanks for your efforts on making the tone more neutral. I think you've hit the nail on the head: the problem might lie in writing too closely to the tone of the cited sources. Some examples:
  • "With that flexibility, Systematic positioned itself a supplier of software systems for defence, but also the healthcare sector on a global scale."
  • "While the company has been moving towards a broader product offering, its military customer base has strengthened."
  • "It leverages artificial intelligence to manage and exploit big data, and provide commanders with critical insights into the battlespace."
The product descriptions more generally read like a brochure describing the products' benefits, and should be much shorter.
I hope that's useful. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 08:51, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Very clear advice. Shall implement. Thank you @Wikishovel. MatthewDalhousie (talk) 21:45, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, following this super-clear feedback from you, @Wikishovel, here are the seven changes I have worked on.
1. Settled on more formal language throughout, so "With that flexibility, Systematic positioned itself.." is now "As such, Systematic became..."
2. Removed language that sounds congratulatory, such as the phrase you pointed out "has strengthened", but also "extensive", in other places "many" has become "several"
3. I think the word "new" feels like PR, I have tried to remove that where it makes sense to do so. As does the word "announced" which has been eliminated.
4. Likewise, anything that sounds like it may have originally been part of a business plan has gone, so I've removed "global scale."
5. When it came to the product descriptions, I actually tracked down the brochureware so it DOESN'T have the same language. (Originally I avoided doing that because I didn't want that language in my head.) I think the key here is purging adjectives and adverbs like "full", "comprehensive," "high-performance", "automatically" and "integrated." Overall, I just shortened these descriptors too.
6. Noticed a few claims that needed their own citations, so added them.
7. I did add an image of a Bushmaster. MatthewDalhousie (talk) 23:16, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good evening @Wikishovel - have completed that set of changes, wanted to see if you had any further comments on Systematic Software Engineering MatthewDalhousie (talk) 09:59, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, it's better than it was, but the tone is still quite promotional, and it's mostly referenced by press releases, sponsored content, and interviews. Are you connected with the company, on a professional or personal basis? Wikishovel (talk) 10:40, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh man. I feel like giving up on this. Someone else should have a try at it. I ignored their press releases by the way. It's all from industry journals, mostly from here in Australia.
And no, I don't/arent.
I thought all the warm language was purged. Seriously - can you point me to a phrase that voters you? MatthewDalhousie (talk) 12:45, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what to tell you here, if you can't see the promotional tone. It's not just the products, it's the way the company is pitched rather than described. The photo of a tank commander in action, captioned "The Headquarters system can be used to connect directly with commanders in theatre" is one example of the article reading like a brochure. This photo also appears to be company marketing. You uploaded it to Flickr, and then uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons. But where did it come from before Flickr? The metadata of this one and some others is a bit confusing. Wikishovel (talk) 14:23, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Actually a bit embarrassed here. You were absolutely right about the PR material. I took a few news sources on face value, but, a good handful were simply recycled media releases. One of the tells, to which I was oblivious, but should have noticed, was when there was no journalist putting their name to the piece. So to my changes:
1. I have removed anything from army-technology.com navalteam.dk battleupdates.com mynewsdesk.com and I think from European Defence Review for good measure.
2. In the process, I found some sources which are reliable, and well regarded, such as Jane's Defence Weekly and the other publications from that masthead.
3. With regards to the description of IRIS, again, you were right, that did come from a media-release-that-looked-like-a-journal article where it made a claim but didn't actually have a person it reported who was making the claim, so I did my research, found a journal article from an academic conference and used and cited that statement (a certain J Molitoris).
4. I think I've successfully removed all the places where there was a primary source used for the citation (there was a book called "It's all about making a difference" which had lots of interesting dates and whatnot, but I could see it was problematic, so have just removed it entirely, and the claims that depended on it. There is only one primary source quote left I think, and it's right at the end, which is about the current and future ownership of the company. If you consider that still to be a bit of an issue, let me know and I'll remove that too.
5. I removed the image of the founder for two reasons, first because, while not flattering, it may be it had a promotional effect, in which case better for it to be gone. More appropriate if the article was about that person, rather than about a corporation. Second because you seemed unsure about provenance. The truth is the Australian Defence Magazine featured the photos of the person, and, via email, the photographer (someone called Pernille) gave permission for a number of shots to be released under creative commons and so they were uploaded to Flickr as such. If it respected everyone's privacy I guess I could forward that permission on to you I suppose. Anyway, none of that may be necessary as I've removed the image.
6. I shortened the outline of all the products. Seems fitting for an article about a corporation to cover its products, but I think you're right, there was some sell-y language. Anything expansive has been removed. Still I found that, to describe what the product is for, a given sentence will need to have verb somewhere. Generally I've gone with "x provides y" as the basic structure, I think that's the detached kind of tone that an encyclopedia requires.
My humble (and humiliated) thanks to you @Wikishovel. The article did have a lot of those Media Releases and, I confess now, a lot of the language those releases contained. Having purged those, in favour of the more respected (and better written) Defence journals seems have improved things, on my reading anyway.
Do let me know if you see further opportunities to improve this article.
Kind regards, MatthewDalhousie (talk) 02:21, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's definitely getting better, thanks. Wikishovel (talk) 06:13, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Wikishovel. I believe you have spurred me on to greater things, in this regard.

Cloud9 Entertainment

[edit]

Hi, I have made substantial edits, which got published whole I was editing the final version, due to glitch. The concerns raise I completely is genuine and proper deletion of such statements made already. Requesting you to relook and withdraw tags BrightsForever (talk) 17:13, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's still quite promotional:
  • "to gain international opportunities",
  • "Bright saw immense potential in Thai entertainment industry, hence he announced the plans to create a new entity to manage, nurture, protect its talent along with promotion of their events, and to improve Thai markets visibility around the globe",
  • "The agency is partnering with Universal Music Thailand to help Thai talents achieve opportunities on an international forum".
etc. Wikishovel (talk) 17:21, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Its vision of the founder to provide Thai artist opportunities were their work is visible in international forum.
With this aim, he is in partnership with Universal Music Thailand, which is established music group, to support promote Thai artist work to larger audience. This is supported by interview published on the citations.
Please, guide me to tone it done further in acceptable manner, as vision and effort of the agency so far needs a mention.
No deliberate intention is made. It need cleansing which for sure based on your advice I will do. However please consider withdrawal of deletion BrightsForever (talk) 18:47, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh Geeez (indie band)

Hello sir. Can I ask you a question? Why do you have to remove an indie band from Milwaukee even though this is the only source we've got and yet you remove it because it's "outsourced." NahuelFanboy2004 (talk) 11:10, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated the article for deletion because I don't believe the band meets the notability guidelines for a separate article, as outlined at WP:BAND. I have published a page that has been reviewed and published but I want to hide it for while. How do i do that? And when I want it back, how is that done? For example can I take it to draft? Why do you want to move that page to draft? What's wrong with it? Wikishovel (talk) 11:56, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I want to work towards advancing the page more. But I think you can leave it. I can make the adjustment with its presence.
however, I am still having issues with publishing Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa despite changing the work to mine.
also another page created by me more than three years ago Ahmed Rufai Abubakar needs additional citation even though it has been reviewed.
Can you help me with the two pages? Alkherly1993 (talk) 12:00, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ahmed Rufai Abubakar is sourced well enough for a short article, so I've removed the template saying that it needs more. Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa needs the copyrighted text to be rewritten, as I mentioned. Go for it. Wikishovel (talk) 12:09, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you have misunderstood my point. Some messages must appear the same. For example, the schools and Universities he has attended, where he hails from, his current office must be the same. Same applies to his career experience. I can't change them. But in my reference, I have attached from where it was alleged that I copied from. Can you review it one more time? Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa Alkherly1993 (talk) 12:21, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I see what you mean. Tag removed. Wikishovel (talk) 12:28, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Declined G5's

[edit]

Hi there, FYI I have deleted the drafts you tagged as created by the banned Applus2021, but have left the three mainspace articles - Prism Video Converter (software), Baldev Singh Khiala and Dev Raj Singh Talwandi. According to Cabayi here, ArbCom have received an appeal. Pending the outcome of the appeal, we can delete for G5 after that is resolved. (Give it a couple of weeks from now and if no news, ping me and I will delete.) Cheers, Daniel (talk) 04:46, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for pointing that out, and yes I'll ping you if the appeal is rejected, rather than renominate G5. Wikishovel (talk) 04:48, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ArbCom declined the appeal a couple of days ago. Looking at the SPI, it's waiting for ScholarlyScribe (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), AustinTravis27 (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), and AustinTravis27 (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) to be split out into a separate case with ScholarlyScribe as the master. This will put the G5 date for their creations at 22:33, 17 October 2023 when all three accounts were blocked. As all three accounts were blocked at the same time there won't be any G5-able material. You can't directly edit Wikipedia:Requested moves/Current discussions. That page is built on-the-fly every few minutes by a bot, so if you post something to it it will just be erased moments later. The page Meragram has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Hi @Liz: last I saw it, that was an article created by User:Anima303. Then User:Dan arndt moved that to Draft:Meragram. What was it implausibly pointing at by the time you ran across it? There's been some "creative" page-moving and page hijacking by article creator. Wikishovel (talk) 17:48, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Improving article

[edit]

Hello @Wikishovel . You recently tagged "orphan" to this article Social media use in health awareness. Since I am still a learner , please let me know how I can improve this article. EEverest 8848 (talk) 12:29, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome. An orphan article is an article that no other Wikipedia article links to. I couldn't think of an article where a link to that article you started would fit, so I tagged that article as orphan. But now that you've mentioned it, I've just had another look, and added a link in Social media#Governments, as that's one use the article mentions. I'll remove the orphan tag now. Wikishovel (talk) 12:37, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will try to improve it further. EEverest 8848 (talk) 15:07, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sibelius

[edit]

Hi, Wikishovel (great name, btw) ... I noticed the unnecessary disambiguation moves you made of a few of the Sibelius compositions for which I created articles. Thanks (and apologies on not being totally familiar with article naming best practices)! I was wondering if such a move should/could also be made for: Six Humoresques (Sibelius), Two Serenades (Sibelius) (there's kind of a similar article by Brahms), and Pan and Echo (Sibelius). Also, I have decided to take Academic cantatas and split it into two separate articles, such that the old article would be empty (deleted? redirected?). Could you perhaps let me know what is the appropriate way to do this task? Thanks (and nice to meet you)! ~ Silence of Järvenpää 15:08, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and no apologies needed. Thank you for starting those excellent Sibelius articles, and your work on templates, etc.
Happy to help with the page moves:
  • There doesn't seem to be a Six Humoresques by any other notable composer.
  • Pan and Echo could refer to the two mythological figures, but on balance I'd say that Sibelius' composition is reasonably the best use for that title, and we can link to Pan (god) and Echo (mythology) from there, to avoid any confusion.
  • Two Serenades, with a capital "S", can have a hatnote distinguishing Brahms' two serenades.
On the subject of splitting Academic cantatas, have you read WP:PROSPLIT? Proposing the split in a discussion might be the best course. I love music, but am probably too ignorant of musicology to contribute to the discussion, apart from on a practical level of actually moving the content around.
I'll get onto the simpler page move tasks now. Wikishovel (talk) 15:32, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Page moves done, with template updates, and links and hatnote as mentioned above. Kiitos! Wikishovel (talk) 16:10, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can make a Disambiguation page?

[edit]

I just seen the tagging alert,

and also just found out Tsugunai was occupied beforehand, when creating redirect for Chinese Mandarin version of a Japanese song (Both uses same tune)

Per (Special:Diff/606012821) tagged by Nguyễn Quốc Việt

Can I make a Disambiguation page for both 1985 song and 2001 video game page? Or leave it as it is becuase (WP:Systemic bias) audience are (largely) younger and (mostly IT-Savvy) and not (largely Eastern Asians) Gen-X and older? --- Cat12zu3 (talk) 07:02, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would leave it, until there are more things to disambiguate: see WP:TWODABS. The odds of a third article called "Tsugunai" seem pretty slim, and there's no clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Wikishovel (talk) 07:48, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello @Wikishovel, thanks for adding additions to the Hyoscyamus aureus page. For something like the link to iNaturalist photos after the description ("see iNaturalist photos"), you turned it into a number reference to the bottom, which may well be default practice. I'm wondering if there's any suitable way it can still stay in as a direct link, since to understand the description most users do need to click to see photos (in contrast to more erudite links which only few will follow), and they're unlikely to follow a number reference (which they would probably suppose links to more text). I think it's best right there somehow just after at the end of the description, but another option might be to have an External Links section, since that would be also somewhat visible to users. Let me know your thoughts. Meteorquake (talk) 12:29, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The policies for external links are described at WP:External links. Your idea of an external links section on that page sounds like a good one. Please ping if I can be of help with that. Wikishovel (talk) 12:36, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for making a report about Knc358 (talk · contribs · block log) at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:20, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@HJ Mitchell: the user had a level 4 warning, and replaced Imran Khan's name with their own in the diff I supplied. If you check their edit history, they're a vandalism-only account. Wikishovel (talk) 14:41, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please read the instructions in the header at AIV. AIV is for active vandals; this editor had not edited in two days. AIV is for users who have continued after warnings; the user had not edited since the final warning you gave them, contrary to your inaccurate report. Please make sure you make accurate statements at AIV and only report in line with the instructions. Thanks. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:47, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Their final warning was on the 24th, and the edit I reported them for was on the 25th, and reverted today. That's continuing after a final warning. I don't see where AIV says "don't report a vandal if two days have elapsed since their continued vandalism". Wikishovel (talk) 14:59, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion

[edit]

The only ones who must discuss the deletion before removing the tag are those who've created it - not uninvolved users. Please remove your tag and reopen a second AfD nomination. The guideline applies for all speedy deletion tags. WP:CSD clearly says:

"For most speedy deletion criteria, the creator of a page may not remove the deletion tag from it; only an editor who is not the creator of a page may do so. A creator who disagrees with the speedy deletion should instead click on the Contest this speedy deletion button that appears inside of the speedy deletion tag. This button links to the discussion page with a pre-formatted area for the creator to explain why the page should not be deleted. If an editor other than the creator removes a speedy deletion tag in good faith, it should be taken as a sign that the deletion is controversial and another deletion process should be used." ShahidTalk2me 15:29, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, OK, you're right, I misread WP:CSD, sorry. Wikishovel (talk) 15:30, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There's a lot more to be done there, not least because the references are so out of date, and I truly don't fancy weighing up the quality of newer sources for such a loaded topic. Just reducing the number of glaring hoaxes would be nice. Thanks for the page protection. Wikishovel (talk) 00:04, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:48, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In favour of keeping the parentheses/disambiguator for the article Pilli Bebek

[edit]

A 2003 Turkish television series broadcast on ATV with the same name exists aswell.

https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilli_Bebek (Pilli Bebek, disambiguation page on the Turkish Wikipedia)

Articles where Pilli Bebek (TV series) is mentioned on the English Wikipedia: Mehmet Günsür, Begüm Birgören, Alican Yücesoy Arsabent (talk) 13:11, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, there's no hurry with that. Please go ahead and create the TV series article if you wish (the TV article doesn't exist yet at Turkish Wikipedia), and if there's no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, then we can always move the band article later. It's often better to use a WP:HATNOTE than to create a disambiguation page for just two articles. Wikishovel (talk) 13:25, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thank you for informing me. Arsabent (talk) 15:22, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A10

[edit]

Regarding Draft:Taskin A. kayum, A10 only applies to articles. Draft space is not article space. Please take time to read and understand the WP:criteria for speedy deletion. -- Whpq (talk) 15:15, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Whpq: yeah I know, but it simplifies hoax detection to compare the fake article with the original using the A10 template. Wikishovel (talk) 15:23, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not hard to do a comparison and if you wanted to have it set up for the admin, you could have posted on the talk page with special:comparepages set up. There's no need for using misleading speedy deletion criteria. -- Whpq (talk) 01:28, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I didn't know about special:comparepages, thanks. It wasn't my intention to mislead. Wikishovel (talk) 06:32, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me add subsections (background, career, Philanthropy, personal life) on the Oskar Ibru page. Don't know how to do that yet.

Thanks for your work on the Goodie Ibru page btw. Jay Kenechukwu (talk) 11:21, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again!! This is me dropping a kind reminder concerning the Emmanuel Ibru page. Please help create (Eary life, education and career) subsections on the page.
Thank you. Jay Kenechukwu (talk) 08:54, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on About Dr Lynne Ellsworth Larsen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Melcous (talk) 02:21, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! yeah I missed that one, thanks. Wikishovel (talk) 06:43, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Do you think it's a good idea to create some sort of page like "User:xxx/Why am I trying to delete your article?" to point people to, or would that be a waste of time? Fermiboson (talk) 16:49, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, that's an interesting idea, and not a waste of time at all. A lot of new editors seem genuinely surprised when their ultra-spammy company article gets nominated for db-spam, for example, or when a completely non-notable exec from a just-about-notable company gets nominated db-bio. Much better to explain, more gently than the standard templates I've seen.
Somebody must have made one of these already, right? I'll have a scrounge.Wikishovel (talk) 17:13, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, have you seen WP:DELETED, WP:TAGGED and WP:SAVE yet? Wikishovel (talk) 17:38, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, those are useful as well. Fermiboson (talk) 18:01, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kemi Ibru page

Hi Wiki! Please help review and organize the Kemi Ibru page. Thanks! Jay Kenechukwu (talk) 19:19, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Abu Omar al-Muhajir, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page HTS.

Redirect of Trump rhetoric page

[edit]

Hello Wikishovel. I was surprised to see a redirect of that brand new page still in its earliest stages of formation. Even if that's not the ultimate title of the page, I think there's lots to gather in such an article, and we should let editors contribute for awhile before concluding that there is not enough to work with. Please restore the page and see what it looks like in a week or two. Thanks. SPECIFICO talk 16:29, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it was a single sentence with a single reference, and doesn't really add to that section at the main article, so I redirected it there (two hours after creation), and tagged it as a "redirect with possibilities". Please feel free to build it up as a separate article, perhaps using content at the current target section. Or, even if you think the single sentence is sufficient on its own as a stub, then feel free to unredirect. Wikishovel (talk) 16:37, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's how articlces start out. Thanks for your reply. I don't know how to undo a redirect, so I would appreciate it if you could do that. SPECIFICO talk 16:54, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You clearly do know how to undo edits, so I'm not sure why you're asking, but I've gone ahead and self-reverted as you've asked. Wikishovel (talk) 19:30, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have gotten mixed up with redirects, templates, image placement, and other things that go beyond simple article and talk page prose. So that's why I asked. SPECIFICO talk 23:02, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Respected Sir User:Dotdashmeredith

Hello Sir @Wikishovel this user @dotdashmeredith doing sockpuppetry on Simple English Wikipedia the article you have raised against sock puppetry Poybo Media he creates on Simple Wikipedia. and he is now doing vandalism on Simple Wikipedia please do some thing he is deleting random articles there and doing disruptive edits there. Simonsmichel (talk) 07:12, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dotdash is there to get himself unblocked here, he didn't do anything there that was blockworthy, you are doing what is called a fishing expedition. (Plus, enwiki admins have no permissions in simplewiki, unless they have both permissions on both wikis) RiggedMint (talk) 19:15, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I found a lot of spam accounts, what should I do?

[edit]

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to discuss an issue I've encountered on Wikipedia that concerns the neutrality here. Recently, I've noticed a surge in spam accounts on several Wikipedia pages, and I'm seeking guidance on how to effectively address this problem. May I disclose them here or should I email someone on Wikipedia?

Hello @Wikishovel i saw that something is going wrong on English Wikipedia and Simple English Wikipedia a big mastermind playing games of Sock puppet account i saw logs that few months ago Poybo Media article is deleted from English Wikipedia and when i saw logs on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/50mMidas/Archive of user: Dotdashmeredith that he creates this article and the same user creates Poybo Media on Simple English Wikipedia he focused on 3 Names Poybo Media , Justin Jin , The Vach , and The Vach currently live on Simple English Wikipedia. And created by the same user. And suddenly he actives today and creates 3 Acoounts on English Wikipedia with the names Poybo Media , Justin Jin (businessman) and The Vach under the username of User:Warming polity i think he is also a sock puppet and now he is trying to push spam articles on Simple English WikipediaSimple English Wikipedia. 103.149.126.107 (talk) 09:56, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dotdash and Warming are unrelated, The latter and this IP is trying to make dotdash look like a bad person... RiggedMint (talk) 14:27, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Elaborating further, dotdash is blocked here for socking, but they are actively trying their best on simplewiki to get unblocked here, giving up a second chance by socking again? Unlikely. Most likely, this IP and other accounts, like Simonsmichel, are trolls. RiggedMint (talk) 14:29, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Polariton interferometer moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Polariton interferometer. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and It is also too short to be usefu.. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ldm1954 (talk) 03:40, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
