Speedy deletion nomination of My Fantastic Failures ( Novel / Fiction Book ) _------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi longnote
Regarding the yanmar marine page. I just started writing today. I will correct any promotional content. Monday 22 of june.
I just wanted to explain this manufacturer because volvo penta is also on it and I believe Yanmar marine should also be mentioned. Volvo penta is the marine side of volvo corporation like yanmar marine is for yanmar.
Is there any way you could cancel your delete request. And postpone it a week. Just give me some time.
Thanks

Hi Thelongtone,
Its about an upcoming book nothing related to any promotion. Our reader are asking for a page so we created for it. See my name is already listed at Wikipedia for --- zero waste fashion designer . if we need any publicity we would have first rater created that page not this one, I hope you understand. I strongly believe it should not be deleted.

Deletion of Young Lady (Song By Kid Cudi)
[edit]Hi there! Please explain to me why a collaboration by two notable artists makes for a non-notable song especially as the song fuses two wholly different genres and is backed up with a background story by one of the artists. speedy
[edit]As reviewing administrator, I removed your speedy from FirstCity Financial and changed it to prod-- tho the consensus seems to be that banks like this aren't notable, speedy requires only a rational claim to significance, and it is rational for someone to think that a bank of NASDAQ might be significant for an encyclopedia
I also remved the speedy on Ankita Makwana[ for the same reason. The combination of things is enough that someone might reasonably think it worth an article.
Please remember that passing a7 requires only an indication of significance , which is much less than notability. This is true even if it is very likely that the article will inevitably be deleted. DGG ( talk ) 17:03, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for helping out. The new editor is insisting on painting their criticisms as "Engineering considerations" and absolute fact. I am in danger of being drawn into a personal edit war. I don't know if you feel up to reviewing the ping-pong match over the associated section title and content, and let me know how you think this should be handled, I would much appreciate it if you could. Feel free to come down against me if you think I am going wrong. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 15:26, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'll do what I can. Many of the edits seem pretty sensible to me...the more I learn about airships the dafter they seem...but the editor clearly doesn't understand that views must be properly cited.TheLongTone (talk) 15:58, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- What more concerns me is the one-sidedness - the editor will brook no NPOV and demands that their criticisms be presented as the only valid engineering considerations. I have started a new discussion on that specific point. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:09, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

I am intrigued to see this from someone who, in this post, claims to have worked for a company that, according to this edit, was set up to sell Metal-clad airships but that subsequently collapsed. Funny, I encountered a similar editor a while back who had performed a huge number of edits on the airship article, basically completely restructuring the history in a very unhelpful way & not leaving edit summaries. I left a couple of polite notes on his talkpage but he carried on & when I got fed up & wholesale reverted he did a similar flouncing off in a huff act. Regarding article - Hammerhead USV-T
[edit]Why did you edit the page even after I posted an ''{{inuse}}'' already?? It's sole purpose is to avoid an edit conflict! You only did a very minor change while I was in it for a major copy-edit. In the mean time, I'd cleaned up and re-organized the article, divided in sections and also did manage to more-than-double the page content in addition to adding half a dozen references. And as I went up to save it, The page has undergone changes .. avoid edit-conflict. What? How? I posted...! It took me over half-an-hour to manage this, but was ruined because of a minor cleanup, so in vain. Starting from scratch for one more time now. Abhinav (talk) 18:45, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, just wanted to be able to read the text. FYI, if this happens again you can copy your edits & repaste them into the article.TheLongTone (talk) 18:50, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Can't do it. After you click the 'save page', the page is reloaded and renewed with the current content. No use in going back as all the changes have gone away. [edit]Hey man, I'm quite new to being a member of Wikipedia, so just bear with me if this is inappropriate.
Disregarding my rant towards your abuse of language, (which was kind of unneeded, given that I am the one in the wrong, here,) I would really like you to remove the page about that book, if possible. I've read through the rules and guidelines of article deletion, and noticed that there is a mention of a seven-day interval between announcement of deletion and the actual deletion itself. Is it possible, if I ask you as the sole editor of the page, that you can wipe the page completely? (I have a compulsive need for closure, don't ask about it.)
If my behaviour seems somewhat ambivalent to you, don't take it personally. I like drama and giving people a hard time :)
PS. If you read through the plot summary, what did you think of it?BTirbaoqlis (talk) 23:14, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- I can't delete it (I'm not an admin)...if you really want it gone you, as page creator, can replace the prod template with the csd-u1 template (ie csd-u1 enclosed in double curly brackets {{. Cant simply write the code here , since it causes problems). Or you can simply blank the page & I (or sombody else) can speedy-delete tag it. altho I As to the plot...not really my cup of meat, but a) I'm no literary critic and b) even if I was, I very much doubt whether my taste is much in line with the reading publics'. Has the book actually been written, btw?TheLongTone (talk) 23:32, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- The book has been written, yes. It is just not so popular, to be honest. You can imagine why, I assume... but the page is deleted now, so I'm fine. Have a good one.BTirbaoqlis (talk) 09:57, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
I declined the speedy - your tag was correct but the authors added enough assertions of importance to void the A7. Not sure if the subject meets WP:POLITICIAN or even GNG, so an AFD might be appropriate. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:30, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hello TheLongTone,
I came across the page Cartozoology today, and saw that you had previously proposed it for deletion and said "Probable copyvio, since most google (sic) hits have same text, but since the origin may have been on a non copyright (sic) site (I) am not going down that route."
I pasted the article in quotes into a search engine, and found that it was an exact match of the text at the top of this page. Per WP:COPYPASTE, if a website makes no mention of its copyright status, the material is assumed to be fully copyrighted. Even if the original source was under a workable license, since the content is also posted on a copyrighted site, I propose that it be speedily deleted. Your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated on the the deletion discussion page. Passengerpigeon (talk) 03:24, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

- Respected Sir, there are notable references from leading newspapers like Economic Times, Business Standard, Reuters and Yahoo, which is quite notable and old (may be 2 years old or more). They are well written by independent journalists and denotes notability. We can say that these articles are biographies falling under Start category but does not go against the Wikipedia rules, these people are notable in some sense which is covered by independent sources (written by journalists and not self written). The reference points are being well proved and I will try my level best to make it better further. I request you to please withdraw the nomination for deletion for both the pages Rahul_Kumar_(businessman) and Joy_Ghosh_(businessman). I assure you further editing. Please acknowledge my request, I will be grateful to you.
Both the people have contributed to the industry, Rahul_Kumar_(businessman) valued WhatsApp at US$ 11 billion before it was sold to Facebook and Joy_Ghosh_(businessman) is the co-fund manager behind India's largest private equity fund which is notable in itself. Sir, I understand they are businessman doing there job, then why we don't impose the same on articles like [[1]] (having several deadlinks as references) and [[2]] which has only two references and both are dead, which does not prove notability at all. I request you to revisit your decision, and withdraw the nomination for deletion. Even I want to respect Wikipedia rules like you, and I want to become a contributor with ethics just same like you, and I assure you if I have not written a advertisement type article, I will further also not contribute anything absurd, this is my deep hearted request to withdraw the nomination for deletion(s). [edit]Hello, I'm The Banner. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2014 July 16 that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. The Banner talk 14:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Clearly not a personal remark: I am commenting on your conduct. Coming from you, a request to interact is rich.TheLongTone (talk) 15:08, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Still it is a personal attack to accuse someone of conducting a holy war or jihad. That has nothing to do with the nominations. The Banner talk 15:11, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Nonsense. You are slinging these accusations of incivility around with gay abandon. See WP:CIVIL. "Consider the possibility that something you said or did wrongly provoked a defensive, irritated or fed-up response. Be prepared to apologise for anything which you could / should have done better! Lil Drayne
[edit]I'll leave the salt to the next time. 'Lil Drayne'? What the hell made him choose that as a stage name? Or is he so concerned to merge Dre with Wayne that he hasn't noticed? Peridon (talk) 18:56, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for reviewing this. Can we remove the "does not cite" tag? If so, how? Can I do it myself? Do I just remove the first line - "unreferenced"? NingBing (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Oron Shaul
[edit]I have removed your CSD of Oron Shaul as I believe the article does not meet the speedy criteria. However, your point is well taken about a single soldier not necessarily needing an article. If you wish to pursue the matter further I suggest you take it to AFD so a bigger consensus can be developed. Gaijin42 (talk) 14:28, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Retro4Ever
[edit]The page was marked for deletion, and I posted a question there as to what had to be done to ensure compliance. No response was given and it was deleted. I am asking for clarification of what was wrong with it as I believe that I referenced, cited, and did everything properly according to Wikipedia's standards. Thanks for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RetroNathan (talk • contribs) 18:02, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- What seemed to be wrong with it was essentially notability: in a case like this you need to come up with some reliable independant sources to establish that this blog has gained serious attention.TheLongTone (talk) 18:11, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

- Thanks Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 August 6 I have added an explanation here for the mistakes I've made. Odd really, because the last time I tried to change a redirect (not a page move), I managed it. Thanks for all your help.Keith-264 (talk) 18:31, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- Spoke too soon: there is a (circular) redirect at the desired page name, which I think you know about...would have been simpler to have dropped the new article into the redirect. I know you don't get the article on you count of articles created, but you still get the feeling of having done good!TheLongTone (talk) 18:36, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- I fear I bungled by forgetting how I'd done the La Malmaison redirect and not cutting my losses, when I realised that it was going wrong. Do you know how I get rid of the redirect altogether? RegardsKeith-264 (talk) 19:06, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- Nominate it for deletion, or alternatively if there is an admin you are on good terms with you could try asking them nicely. Do you have Twinkle enabled? If you don't nominating things for deletion s a bit of a pain, I don't mind doing it.TheLongTone (talk) 19:10, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- Never heard of it, my Wikimojo is weak. ;O) If you would it would be quicker. When I looked at the advice page it cautioned against deleting redirects which is why I meddled with it. PS what difference does an article count make; do I get a prize? Thanks againKeith-264 (talk) 19:16, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Nulli Secundus
[edit]Hi,
Just for your interest, Capper and Cody did overfly Buck House on the way in, but had no intention of landing. After flying round St. Paul's,contrary winds prevented them from returning to Farnborough, so they first tried to land on Clapham Common but the throngs of spectators made it too dangerous. They then diverted to the grounds of the Crystal Palace, which Cody knew well from when his kiting workshop had been based there. Walker tells the whole story in his "Early Aviation At Farnborough", Vol. I. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 08:02, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. I assume from the above that you have the Walker book, which I've skimmed but not read fully, good to know that I was right about Buck House...I was being bold removing the statement, from the (fair amount) I've read about Nulli Secundus & also a feeling that it was screamingly unlikely, even though it caried a reference: I was assuming that the statement had been dropped into a referenced sentence.TheLongTone (talk) 12:38, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- I seem to recall that at an early stage of planning the journey they toyed with the idea, more in jest than in earnest, of literally dropping in on the King's household but rejected it quickly as inadvisable. Certainly, royal friendship was a mark of Cody's Farnborough days; the idea was simply to pay a return visit, as something of a personal joke. It's not significant enough to try and chase down a reference, though. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 16:10, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

I see that you have PRODded this article. I agree it does not qualify for an article at this time, but what would you think about redirecting it to United States House of Representatives elections in Tennessee, 2014#District 7 instead of prodding it? I believe that is common practice for candidates for office who are otherwise not notable. I didn't want to do this on my own, but wanted to see if you agree. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 17:59, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Sounds reasonable, although another possibility would be to userfy it in case he does get elected. Since the ins & outs of US politics are not an area of expertise, I don't know how likely this is, altho I did note that i's Republican at the moment.TheLongTone (talk) 20:43, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- WP:NPOL says "In the case of candidates for political office who do not meet this guideline, the general rule is to redirect to an appropriate page covering the election or political office sought in lieu of deletion. Relevant material from the biographical article can be merged into the election or political office page if appropriate." This approach leaves a history which can be restored if they get elected. The relevant footnote adds "Deleting a biography in these cases instead of merely redirecting it makes recovering useful information from the page history difficult, and should be done only when there are relevant reasons other than lack of notability for removing the article from the mainspace." I will remove the PROD and go ahead and redirect this article. I'll also watchlist it in case somebody tries to restore it inappropriately. --MelanieN (talk) 21:42, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Origins: Discovery
[edit]Greetings TheLongTone and thanks for your comment on the article on Origins: Discovery. You guys are faster than the speed of light! I was asked by fans to support the Wiki page as the author of the novel because the work is highly controversial. It deals with the Armenian Genocide that occurred nearly 100 years ago, and those that are aware of the work from the early releases have realized as we approach the centenary memorial that there was a need for some information to compliment your excellent article on the Armenian Genocide itself. I agree the article needs work and will promise to assist the submitter to improve it, but please understand that while I certainly concur with your blunt appraisal of the work as being 'non-notable' at present, that is not likely to remain so, especially with the interest from New Zealand/Australia (whose soldiers fought the Ottoman Army at the same time as the Genocide) and Armenia itself, let alone a certain nation's reaction that was at the centre of the Genocide. I will have no complaint if you do delete but humbly request that you allow the article in the circumstances please (even better if you would take action after reading the novel :-)). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiwiodysee (talk • contribs) 13:09, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Ostrich?
[edit]Hi. It wasn't a threat, or an "inexplicable" comment, as you speak of in your talk page history. Don't take it the wrong way, but I only wanted to make it up to you for the way I acted in the past about having "The Little Things Give You Away" being redirected to its last album, like Minutes to Midnight for example. I want to make it up to you, as I am still confused about that "Ostrich" section you left on my talk page before it was removed because of me. The question is... what did you mean by the term "Ostrich" when I was blocked for 30 hours in the past? Thank you, and I apologize for any cause of trouble that I have done. Thank you. My Article
[edit]Hey as I am new to Wikipedia i try to publish an article about a trading platform You marked it as spam, and i dont understand why. I did my best to write a good article. If you have any suggestions for me let me know. Wish you a nice day Sincerely Achilles25 (talk) 12:42, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Problem is that the article reads like a brochure for the software: I do accept that you have not used any promtional language. It also looks as thoug many of the sources are the company who developed this: it seems to be new & independant sources are needed to establish that it is notable.TheLongTone (talk) 12:53, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick reply, well i have few more sources, but they are on german. But as you can see i posted one interview with the CEO provided by a Broker, and also a demonstration that this software is used in japanese TV I can also provide more sources which are provided by some brokers if this helps. Is here some kind of a PM system where i can send you the sources and you can maybe give me feedback on them? Sincerely Achilles25 (talk) 13:04, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Vegan spam
[edit]While I get your point, that might be somewhat harsh language to hit a new editor in a class project, don't you think?
Bigger question - how would you make vegan spam? Tempeh might give you the right consistency, but how would you make it taste bad enough? Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:23, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Throw A Penny
[edit]Why are you so hell bent on deleting the page for the song "Throw A Penny"? This was an official US single by a major recording act. There are several thousand pages for songs out there that are of no real significance, were never hits or are from minor acts that never even had a hit on the charts. Hi there, I've declined your speedy deletion request on this article because it says she is a journalist for the Guardian, a major British newspaper. Why Cool Automation's page should not be deleted
[edit]The reasons we think that Cool Automation has important encyclopedic value: Cool Automation's products are actually new unique products in the HVAC world, which allow the automation of VRF air conditioners. Prior to the first CoolMater's product launch - there was no way for VRF air conditioners to automate the units and control them online. Another point is that CoolAutomation's products allow the connection of many air conditioning units from many different manufacturers with a single gateway. As of today - there are no other products in the world which allow the connection of a variety of manufacturers HVAC units with one gateway solution, and there are no other solutions that allow the smart connection of VRFs. Also, many of our partners have active wikipedia pages, and we think we should have one as well... examples: control4 Lutron Electronics Company
Please let me know if that sounds like a good enough reason. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Imoreno (talk • contribs) 12:35, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion declined: IQ imbalance
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I declined the deletion of IQ imbalance, a page you tagged for speedy deletion per CSD A1 because of the following concern:
This page has plenty of context. Although some of it is written in a "mathematical language", there is still enough English context to identify the subject of the article.
If you would like to discuss it, please post a message on my talk page. I will see it there. Thank you. Wiki you now, Wiki you later! (talk) 15:38, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Paraphasing italian writer Umberto Eco, "In a world with 7 billion people, do you agree there are so many imbeciles? On internet, the imbecile can opinate about everything he doesn`t understand" (in Brazilian Veja magazine, ed 2432, July, 1st 2015 http://veja.abril.com.br/noticia/brasil/a-conspiracao-dos-imbecis/). Probably a little strident or prejudiced statement from the italian writer, but I could easily apply Eco`s phrase to the pre-internet era, in a better way. There was a huge profusion of apocryphal and spurious books written on a time journalism and public opinion wasn`t so efficient on verification and review. If we include in that collection of absudities the taboos and hoaxes before internet, something that lasted for centuries before being unmasked (the meaning of "Kangaroo", for instance was debunked in the 1970s by linguist John B. Haviland in his research with the Guugu Yimithirr people, but people all around the world insists in believe on the legend, not on the truth - more "romantic", probably), then we will start to doubt about the so called "books published by very reputable publishers". I can even notice much more legal challenges on books contents today than in 1966. What I SAW at Sir Wykenham book is ONLY his opinion and NOT a source of information. The lack of legal suits about Sir Wykenham book (and others)is due to lack of interest on that. Moreover, you said "incidentally I believe that Voisin also makes some claim...". OK! That one more opinion and I respect that but... prove it! Simple like that. I told I couldn`t find any reliable source - and I`m still stagnant at this point. I didn`t even mention internet, althoug this would be interesting and provide us with more easily verifiable data. By the way: I AM NOT MAKING VANDALISM (commonplace for wiki editors` contrarieties), just pointing my index finger to your opinions and Sir Wykenham`s... Change back the edition. RobertoRMola (talk) 17:30, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- Nevertheless it is a sourced statement, whether or not you like it. TheLongTone (talk) 11:41, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Not a case for like or dislike - just a credibility issue. Your "sourced" statement is only that: a statement (opinion) from someone else. I could write a book with (my) different statement - will it be a sourced statement, also, just because a conventional printed book? Still looking (waiting) for real sources (official documents as agreements and contracts) on that subject. RobertoRMola (talk) 23:17, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
- Nonsense. It's a credible source...a proper biography of Santos Dumont. As I'm sure you know, he destroyed all his papers, so whining about there not being a contract or whatever is simply dumb. It's a credible source that you do not believe.11:50, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
- Be more specific: WHAT is nonsense? Research is like a chain: a credible source cite its sources, and so on. Wykenham book didn`t. It`s only his opinion. It's so clear in the text, but you couldn`t see it. So you decided that`s a "credible source", and - I laughed a lot about your next statement - a "proper" biography of Santos-Dumont. So you think I`m whining too much? Or you think I'm rocking the boat full of Wright lovers? TheLongTone, you are dealing a lot with wikipedia edition. This is not important; truth is, and deserves our attention and responsibility (that`s why I ALWAYS use my real name and not a fancy nickname). That book is biased and never could be used as a source for anything about SD. RobertoRMola (talk) 15:34, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Aren't the various articles discussing Speed of Light (and particularly it's video) enough for notability?

You removed an inline link to gigposters.com from my Todd Slater article. I included the link as there is no Wikipedia article on gigposters.com and I felt it was relevant and would be useful to some readers. Do Wikipedia guidelines recommend the avoidance of inline links to external sites or did you remove it for another reason?
You also made two other changes: "aged 24 " -> " when aged 24" and "Slater's" -> "His". These appear to be minor changes to writing style rather than corrections. If you believe them to be corrections please explain the basis for that belief, otherwise I will undo the changes; I believe the role of Wikipedians is to contribute to the richness and accuracy of information contained in Wikipedia, not to impose their personal writing styles on other contributors. Speedy tag placed on Desolation Angels Rock Band
[edit]Hi, you just placed a tag on Desolation Angels Rock Band while at the same time I was moving the page to Draft which is Draft:Desolation Angels Rock Band because the author of the page mentioned it in the edit summary as "I'm creating a Wiki page for the rock band Desolation Angels . . . It may take some time!)".Since its a new user and is not aware of our Wikipedia guidelines to create an article but may want to contribute. So, I didn't want to discourage the editor by speedy and so put it in the Draft space. I have undid the speedy, if no substantial page improvement is done in some time. Anyone of us can speedy it as the page in its current is clearly unencyclopaedic. I have already put a speedy on Desolation Angels Rock Band. Thanks Peppy Paneer (talk) 15:43, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Edit summaries
[edit]Hi TheLongTone,
I notice you have made some very good copy edits to Architectus Science Faculty Building UTS which improve the article. Thanks for that. They also showed a very new editor how the collaborative process achieves such improvement. However, your edit summaries, while amusing to experienced editors, could be off-putting to the point of counter-productive for a newbie. So I just wanted to highlight that this article is the very first effort of a new editor who is trying to master everything at once, including the appropriate tone for an architecture article. The sources for architecture articles tend to use pretentious and jargon-ridden language so it takes extra effort to rewrite the facts plainly, and this newbie has just begun to learn. - Mea culpa. Writing plainly about most subjects is a great deal harder than stringing togrther a bunch of words in the hope that they will impress. Snippiness in this case is I guess fuelled by a feeling that nobody writes that sort of guff unless they are being paid money to do so...it smells like copyvio.TheLongTone (talk) 15:47, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
re Leadin (company) page
[edit]Hi
You have deleted this page with no real explanation or suggestion for improvement. Please can you give either an explanation why this page has been deleted or guidance as to how to improve the page. The page is based on numerous example company pages and so I see no clear reason why it has been deleted?
Thanks for your reply however I can not see which admin has deleted my page - any help is much appreciated to allow me to discuss the reasons why with them directly — Preceding unsigned comment added by ASarfas (talk • contribs) 15:33, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- User:Ritchie333 and User:Peridon. But read WP:CORP, wp's notability guidelines.TheLongTone (talk) 15:50, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- @ASarfas: I have restored the article as a draft submission at Draft:Leadin (company), where it can be worked on without a threat of deletion. The BBC source is a good source to use, but we need many more in order to prove the company has a major enough significance for a worldwide encyclopedia. Anyway, when you are happy that the draft is improved, you can click on the "Submit this draft" button for an experienced editor to review it. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:59, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Credible claim of significance vs Notability
[edit]I think it'd be worth going over WP:A7, as you may be under the impression that it's a notability standard. Directly from the guideline, "An article about a real person, individual animal(s), organization, web content or organized event that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, with the exception of educational institutions.[7] This is distinct from verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability."
The "lower standard than notability" is critical. No, the actor that we were referring to was likely not notable. But there was a credible claim of significance, and for notability cases speedy deletion is not an appropriate process. Speedy deletion should only be used in cases where nobody says why it's actually important. In this case, it's clearly important because she played a role in a notable film, and not as an extra. Appable (talk) 13:26, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Not what I would call a credible claim of notability. Which is why A7 is appropriate.TheLongTone (talk) 13:28, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Significance isn't notability. It means a claim that reveals that a person, object, etc may be notable after some searching, even if notability is not established. WP:A7 was never intended to be used for articles where something may not have notability established. It's for articles that don't say anything about why it's important, like "this person made a 3d printer. his favorite color is blue and he likes ice cream." That never says why anyone should care, whereas actors within films (not as extras) clearly play a role that may mean larger coverage in print or online sources. Even though notability isn't established in the latter, it's a lot more obvious why the media would cover an actor than a random person with no significance illustrated.
- That's why the guideline was added. It's probably the most misused criterion for speedy deletion, I agree with a user's essay on the topic. As you can tell from my position on the AfD, I don't care about the article being deleted (no, it really isn't significant). I just want the correct process to be used, because misusing speedy deletion is a slippery slope to censorship. The community-based AfD (and to a lesser extent PROD) is much better. About the PepperTap page
[edit]Hi, The Long Tone, I have noticed your tag on the page. What should be included more to improve the page? As the subject has news coverage available, I am confused about adding the necessary things. Please help me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Incredible Help Online (talk • contribs) 12:49, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Hello TheLongTone. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3),or significance (CSD A7) moments after they are created, as you did at PepperTap. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks.
Not only was the page tagged far too quickly, but buried amongst the numerous other citations in the article as it existed at the time of creation were multiple citations to independent, third-party, reliable sources — in other words, it has been demonstrated that PepperTap not only meets the significance standard referred to in the speedy deletion criteria definitions, it also meets the higher notability standard. Please exercise more care with future tagging. Thank you, GrammarFascist contribstalk 21:01, 21 October 2015 (UTC).

Boyd & Jenerette deletion
[edit]I wish you would reconsider your deletion of Boyd & Jenerette. I've been editing for years and have never had a page removed so quickly. I contested the speedy deletion with no dialog following. There were plenty of creditable sources, and the firm is of some type of importance to the city of Jacksonville, being that it is the largest locally based firm in the city. If this age is worthy of deletion than so are a whole lot more that did not get swept up in such a stringent filter. Mathew105601 (talk) 23:03, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
I also made a few additions to the page since the tag was put in place. I'm willing to work on making the page work. It is a business of significance in Jacksonville. Mathew105601 (talk) 23:11, 24 October 2015(UTC)
- As I'm sure you know I merely tagged this for deletion; I did so because it seemed like an entirely ordinary company. And the company may be of significance in Jacksonville, but that does not mean it is of global significance. 2 Headed Dog
[edit]This is a regularly performing comedy troupe comprised of four different celebrities, including one original cast member of MadTV. They recently opened the huge comedy festival "Festival Supreme", all of which I have noted. How is this contestable importance? Quirkinitup (talk) 15:03, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Courtney
- Of course you think they are important: they are paying you.TheLongTone (talk) 15:05, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
There's no need to be rude, I think they're important because they are. They were headliners at Festival Supreme 2015 (http://lineup.festivalsupreme.com/), all of their members have their own Wiki page and imdb and are celebrities in their own right.Quirkinitup (talk) 15:14, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Rude???? Get real. TheLongTone (talk) 15:16, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
There's no need to be flippant; you accused me of being biased because I am a social media liaison for the troupe when I'm providing evidence of their importance. I find that rude. You may look at the pages of Craig Anton, Mark Fite, Dave Allen, and Jim Turner. You can see they are all very clearly successful comedians in their own right already. This is their successful troupe that has already performed among the likes of Tenacious D.Quirkinitup (talk) 15:20, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- I was not being flippant. I merely stated that, as an employee, you were doing a job of work which I assume involves a degree of belief in the value of what you are doing. And read WP:NOTINHERITED.TheLongTone (talk) 15:23, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- Incidentally, if I was being rude I might point out that "I think they're important because they are" is the most absurd argument for notability I have ever heard.TheLongTone (talk) 15:26, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- Why is this an argument about notability? There was never an AfD or PROD discussion for this article. It was only tagged for speedy deletion, and yet WP:A7 never talks about notability at all, only a credible claim of significance. Of course notability is not inherited, but a credible claim of significance can be inherited. The meaning of credible claim of significance is to prove that it's possible for notability to be established, and having multiple notable members means that the organization may have some secondary reliable sources covering it. Appable (talk) 15:46, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- Because the troupe requires a measure of notability to be worth a standalone article; otherwise it is only worth mentions in the articles on the individuals.TheLongTone (talk) 15:48, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- The problem that User:Quirkinitup expressed wasn't whether it should be deleted or not, but rather whether it should be speedy deleted or not. Speedy deletion A7/A9 are explicitly for articles without a credible claim of significance (and only specific categories). While it's likely not notable and I'd be surprised if it managed to survive a deletion discussion, it still met the lower standard of "credible claim of significance" and should never have been tagged for speedy deletion under the A7 criterion. Appable (talk) 18:01, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Ek Ladki Badnaam Si
[edit]Hello TheLongTone. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Ek Ladki Badnaam Si, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to films. - Yeah...there are many times one knows a PROD will disappear. Incidentally, why no speedies for films. Not like songs which can generally be changed to redirects.TheLongTone (talk) 14:59, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
