Always talking about EU citizenship... What about NGO's in EU? Is there such a NGO category: 'EU NGO'? --217.117.75.138 (talk) 03:49, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think enterprises in the EU are still incorporated under national laws. -- Beland (talk) 01:55, 16 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion

[edit]

This article needs to be expanded to give a more comprehensive look at INGOs and its influence in society and development. I propose to add sections over the UN Criteria for defining an NGO, INGOs and Development, Debate over INGOs, Case Studies, and Further Reading. I also think that the overview should be expanded to mention operational NGOs versus advocacy NGOs, and the list of INGOs can be categorized into the main focus of each organization.Jchristine34 (talk) 02:23, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Should a table list of NGOs be created with general data, as # of employees, # of voluntaries, age, budget, # of countries covered, etc... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rau1988 (talkcontribs) 14:24, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This article should cover also INGOs whose purpose/subject is not activism, mainly or at all — things like:
et c., to mention but a few I’m (more or less) personally close to. Tuvalkin (talk) 16:56, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reference

[edit]

With the proposed expansion, I have references to support my information and articles for further reading over the topic. This improvement directly helps the page, seeing as the page has been flagged as lacking references and resources.Jchristine34 (talk) 02:23, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Profit

[edit]

These organizations are organized as being non-profit. Are all of these organizations really non-profit? It is not mentioned in the article as far as I can see. --80.63.213.182 (talk) 23:35, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this person there should be some kind of information within this article saying that these are really non-profit organizations. Like give a brief description maybe of each organization and what year they were declared an international non-governmental oragnization. Kaeleomel (talk) 14:38, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphen

[edit]

Is there a reason why this article is not at International non-governmental organization? It appears that common usage on WP is to hyphenate "non-governmental", i.e. Non-governmental organization. Otto4711 (talk) 22:49, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second that motion. Perhaps a move is in order... Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 19:55, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the hyphen for international non-governmental organizations into my edits.Jchristine34 (talk) 02:23, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review

[edit]

This is a solid article which certainly adds more depth and more information to the original article. You particularly made sure to develop the definition of an international NGO and everything it entails. I would suggest increasing the amount of information for the overall topic such as the NGO article on the Wikipedia page that includes types , activities , corporate structure , history , legal status , Influence of NGOs upon world affairs , international day and critics etc. .. You could expand your research by narrowing your search when using the IBBS database by using keys words such as “international” “governmental” and “organization” because the IBBS database has a wide range of information easily accessible to us in different languages or you could always try talking to the librarian. They are there to help. Also try to write concisely and in a neutral tone more in line with the style used on Wikipedia. Most importantly, make sure to cite your references to avoid your article being cancelled for plagiarism.

Overall, this is a fantastic effort on your part, and it will form the foundation of a very good Wikipedia article. Good Job!!
