BLP revdel request

[edit]

Could you revdel this: [1] revision please. Traumnovelle (talk) 21:12, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have done the revision deletion. In the future, please use non-public channels for such requests if possible. Ymblanter (talk) 21:26, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Such as IRC? Traumnovelle (talk) 21:32, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or wikimail to a recently active admin. Ymblanter (talk) 21:34, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ymblanter Thanks. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:23, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Drama continues ...

[edit]

Hi, as one of the pagewatchers, I just wanted to let you know that situation with a user you have warned recently, hasn't improved, but rather doubled down in their edit summary when removing your warning and subsequent discussion (see Special:Diff/1263284616). Just wanted to point it out in case you have missed this one, but I don't want to escalate it to an appropriate venue myself. Best regards, A09|(talk) 11:34, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That edit summary was not appropriate, but I'm not disposed to press the matter. Users are allowed some latitude on their talk pages and that thread was probably due for archiving. I've already had one disagreeable experience with a hyper-political editor that ended with my having to take them to ANI recently and am inclined to let this go for now. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:34, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, that works. Just wanted to let you know :) Best regards, A09|(talk) 19:36, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@A09 It appears that Tamzin has taken the matter in hand. FWIW, I think the (as of this comment) proposed TBan is a good solution. -Ad Orientem (talk) 03:01, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I second your conclusion, thanks for the ping. I'm happy it resolved the way it did - peacefully. A09|(talk) 18:25, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Have questions about images an editor is creating

[edit]

I have come across some editing that seems to me to be problematic...but maybe I'm wrong? If you could take a look I'd appreciate it. This editor is creating digital re-creations of flags from history from their descriptions in sources, for an example see the editing history at Henry Clay. I reverted that edit-image because this all seems to me to be a violation of WP:NOR. Anyway, would appreciate your feedback/insight. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 05:00, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Shearonink I'm inclined to agree. I will have a word with them. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:34, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I posted on their user talk as well, but don't know what can be done beyond that. Personally, I think these various digital reconstructions/digital remakes of historic flags should be removed from their various articles and also from Commons even though that seems harsh... But it seems to me WP really shouldn't have these images being represented as reliably sourced in Wikipedia articles when they are 1)previously unpublished and 2)created by a fellow editor. Another danger is that these images will get regurgitated within the various information systems as actual flags and will poison future search results.- Shearonink (talk) 17:39, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shearonink They seem to have accepted the advice. In the past this was not a big issue. However with our constantly evolving technology and AI, I think we should probably add a line to NOR clarifying that self created images of this nature, are excluded. -Ad Orientem (talk) 19:20, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. If I can get to it this week I'll raise the issue on NOR's talk page. If you pass through that way & it's not been done, feel free to remind me. - Shearonink (talk) 03:41, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A related issue is that they are uploading these images to Commons and then posting them over here. Are there any Commons guidelines that these self-created images are in violation of? Is there an admin here that I can get in touch with and get some advice? I don't do much over at Common and it is...different there. Any advice or a roadmap would be appreciated. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 03:53, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Al. M. G. 2004's vandalism

[edit]

Hello. Al. M. G. 2004 has once again began to vandalize pages and purposely misquote citations within them. The most recent example of this is related to circumcision. He's already been warned five times for months and isn't stopping. He cited Male circumcision' and 'female genital mutilation': why parents choose the procedures and the case for gender bias in medical nomenclature but the article itself says that anthropologists, ethicists, and doctors almost never consider it mutilation, particularly if it's performed consensually by adult individuals with penises. He then proceeds to overwhelm editors with 16 references in order to make it seem like a false consensus. (WP: REFBOMBING). He needs, at the minimum, to be banned for a month.RomanianObserver41 (talk) 02:42, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@RomanianObserver41 This appears to be a content dispute. Please see WP:DR for tips on how to handle that. If you believe their editing is disruptive, and they have been adequately warned, you may take the matter to WP:ANI. The warning I issued on their talk page was in response to a personal attack, where they told Martinevans123 to "go to Hell" in Greek. I haven't seen that repeated. Ad Orientem (talk) 03:04, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Courtesy ping @Martinevans123. -Ad Orientem (talk) 03:08, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not limited to it.
23 December 2024: "yes we do a little trolling"
23 December 2024: "and you are a red name"
22 December 2024: Inserted "male genital mutilation" into the circumcision article despite a consensus on talk to not include this. He then proceded to REFBomb it with 16 individual citations. The claimed sources (including the first) either directly contradict the claim that it is a significant minority or majority viewpoint or are cherrypicked.
10 November 2024: Inserted fake information about "Colorado pundit" (he's not) Longmont Potion Castle claiming that Donald Trump has convicted sexual predator Bill Cosby "on tap" and will play a leading role in his administration.
7 November 2024: Second vandalism of Peanut article. Celebrated Trump win.
6 November 2024: More pro-Trump trolling.
5 November 2024: First vandalism of Peanut the Squirrel article.
30 September 2024: Inserted false information about Chinese honorifics.
He's also written about "goyslop" in Greek. Which is an antisemitic phrase often used on the Russian 2CK, 4Chan's /pol/, and 8chan.
This is a WP:NOTHERE situation. @Ad Orientem: RomanianObserver41 (talk) 06:03, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@RomanianObserver41 Yeah, there is a little too much there. I have blocked them indefinitely. -Ad Orientem (talk) 06:16, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Dungca's Vandalism Issue on LTO License Plates

[edit]

Hi Ad Orientem,

We have a suspected that Daniel Dungca who typed and posted some disruptive edits due to mistyped and misinformation under the Wikipedia English article: History of vehicle registration plates of the Philippines as of now on the timeline.

In reason of this issue and reviewed, CAZ 4401 has supposedly CAZ 4301 as I saw the parked vehicle at the restaurant has registered in Pampanga (Region III). Meanwhile, CBO series has registered last April 2024 with second hand and newly registered vehicles (ex. Light Truck).

Please banned and block the suspected user who annoyed the posted did not understand the guidelines on Wiki community.
