Welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad to see you've already picked up on a few of our practices, like signing talk page posts (but not articles). Here's a few tips in case you need help:
- Wikipedia:NPOV is our main policy--it's about neutrality
- Wikipedia:Help desk can help with any editing questions you might have
- Wikipedia:Be Bold--be bold in editing!
Best wishes, Meelar 15:51, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Overlinking
[edit]Please study this guideline carefully. You are are overlinking in a gross way on many articles. --Epipelagic (talk) 09:29, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing up the relevant guideline. Having read it i must say that it seems you are underlinking articles with your link-removals. E.g. anti-communism is not covered by the don't Avoid linking plain English words policy. To not start an edit-war i'll let it up to you to fix that if you follow this argument. Additionally the policy .. major geographic features and locations, nations, languages, religions, and common professions doesn't seem to apply to e.g. Macedonians. I think a minority of Wikipedia-Readers worldwide don't need further information - and the policy speaks of major .. nations, which would apply to e.g. the globally best-known 20-30 nations, as wikipedia has worldwide readers, the focus of geographic knowlege will differ. Again, to not start an edit war, please fix that. BTW, I understand that my edits in Mariculture didn't comply with the policy and will try to follow the policy more closely in the future. --RScheiber (talk) 13:53, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 23
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Courtier, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Antiquity. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

List of International Ship Registers moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, List of International Ship Registers, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, RScheiber. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, Draft:List of International Ship Registers.
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. [edit]Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
[edit]Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

[edit]Hello!
I have to give some explanation about the action last night and that shouldn't be recognized as Sock puppetry. As a boring student in Denmark who is quarantined at the apartment because of the coronavirus, I tried to do some things I haven't done before, such as edit Wikipedia as an editor. I have registered for years but never edit anything. At that moment, I found those minor mistakes in 2020 coronavirus pandemic in the Faroe Islands and decided to change that. And my friend heard what I'm doing and decided to join me. That the reason why the whole actions look like Sock puppetry. --陈佳宸 (talk) 22:27, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
Hey, for future reference, if you want to delete a page that you've created and that no one else has significantly contributed to yet, you can tag it with {{db-g7}}, which will more quickly draw the attention of an administrator. For obvious and unhelpful typos in redirects, the criterion {{db-r3}} also applies. You can read more about various speedy deletion protocols at WP:CSD. signed, Rosguill talk 19:45, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Chromosome numbers and links
[edit]Hi! Linking like this is not optimal. Readers are presented with two links back to back, where it's not clear if it's a single link or two different ones (MOS:SEAOFBLUE), and it points to two articles, one of which is very general, so it's arguably preferable to have a single, more specific link instead (MOS:SPECIFICLINK).
Also, I'm not sure adding the word "diploid" before the chromosome number is always a good idea. I'm not a biologist, but it seems this use is misleading for the many plants that have higher ploidy levels. The same information is contained in the formula ("2n=.."), and afaik this simply indicates that the count applies to somatic cells, not gametes. – Uanfala (talk) 17:43, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- in regard to your second point: I'm just seeing now, that i accidentally reverted your edit. This was not edit warring, I just didn't realise I had already edited that page, sorry for the "seemingly stubbornness". Please feel free to revert again. The ploidy in plants is indeed a tricky subject, And i had tried to skip Species with unclear Ploidy and only edit such that seemed to indicate diploidy. I am confident my additions of "diploid" to be correct, as the 2n seems to clearly indicate at least that the associated chromosome count is for diploidy, and the "diploid" in my edits referred to the 2n and not the species as a whole, but i have to admit that a categorisation of the whole species is more tricky. Thanks for pointing that out. The goal of my edits was to add chromosome counts to WikiData where Wikipedia seemed to have them, and as chromosome counts without ploidy have limited usefulness I tried to figure at least the one that seem to be diploid and edit WD accordingly. after visiting many such species pages on WP I saw that in most cases for plants they clearly distinguished between haploid and diploid chromosome counts (in fact giving both, and indicating which one is which) and if a species had higher ploidy it was indicated. so I tried to fill the gaps. Thanks for pointing out the aspect of somatic cells, not gametes. I'll take your hint to be more careful with that and postpone further WD edits for now and wait for a biologist to step in.
- in regard to your first point: In my view its quite obvious to a reader that these are in fact 2 separate links, and also I think that blue links vs. black text doesn't impact legibility. Though as the ideal link would be to Chromosome count or Chromosome number which would provide infos in regard to the evolution of chromosome counts in the process of speciation, the process of identifying that count for a species / Cell and the uncertainties involved, but currently it (the chromosome number)is anyhow just a redirect, i had used the chromosome link (again trying to "standardise" the various species pages after seeing this very frequently and perceiving it as beneficial. Also hereby I think I'll put this to rest until there is such a "Chromosome count" page.
