Romanization of Gao Qifeng
Hello @Crisco 1492–thank you so much for creating Gao Qifeng and bringing it to DYK. I am wondering if you would like to include some alternative romanizations of his name, Ko Kei-Fung (in Cantonese) and Kao Ch'i-Feng (in Mandarin)? The subject lived before the PRC and his contemporaries would not refer to him using the Pinyin system.
The romanization "Ko Kei-Fung" can be seen here on a 1940 magazine cover. "Kao Ch'i-Feng" can be seen here on An Index to Reproductions of Paintings by Twentieth-Century Chinese Artists (1998), listed under "Kao Weng", his birth name. Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 21:11, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi The Lonely Pather. The article has the Wade transcription (for Mandarin) in the infobox (the Liangyou article also used C.F. Kao). I was getting Gou Kei-fung for the Yale romanization - what system would Ko Kei-Fung be under? — Chris Woodrich (talk) 14:13, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Chris-- thanks for pointing out the Wade transcription, which I missed. The "K" in Ko implies that it is Hong Kong Government Cantonese Romanisation, by comparing it with the List of common Chinese surnames. Hope this helps! Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 17:37, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, yes. That'll definitely do it - I remember that Hokkien transcriptions are also very varied, with regional differences (Compare Tay and The in SE Asia). Let me play with {{Infobox Chinese}} and see if that can be accommodated. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 17:40, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Done. I believe I did it correctly, without the intonation. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 17:47, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 21:58, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Yang Pao'an
On 1 November 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Yang Pao'an, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Yang Pao'an refused to forsake the Chinese Communist Party, reportedly even after a telephone call with Chiang Kai-shek? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Yang Pao-an. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Yang Pao'an), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Stadium ban decision
On 1 November 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Stadium ban decision, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a German court's decision involving football stadiums may preclude Facebook from arbitrarily banning users? Congratulation! - Rohan de Saram - unbelievable story --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:16, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Today I remember an organist who was pictured on the Main page on his birthday ten years ago, and I found two recent organ concerts to match, - see top of my talk --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:46, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, I think I may have seen this one before. The photo appears familiar. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 19:56, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- I worked with Vami_IV on his church's article then. - Today, I made Leif Segerstam my big story. -Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:59, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Nice. That's an excellent photograph — Chris Woodrich (talk) 10:05, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's a great honour coming from you! - I hope to get to your FAC. - My story today is a cantata 300 years old, based on a hymn 200 years old when the cantata was composed, based on a psalm some thousand years old, - so said the 2015 DYK hook. I had forgotten the discussion on the talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:23, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- I hope you followed to a rich day. Today a caricature, for a change. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:34, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you, Gerda Arendt. I think I'll share a picture as well, shake it up. Not classical, but a bit of sisterly support - all three of the bands I saw yesterday were headlined by women, and one had only women as members: The Warning, Halestorm, and Evanescence. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 16:41, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's lovely and considerate, - thank you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:47, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Happy whatever you celebrate today, - more who died, more to come, and they made the world richer. Greetings from Madrid where I took the pic of assorted Cucurbita in 2016. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:01, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Those are some gorgeous gourds. Today will be a karaoke night... I may sing "Thriller" like a certain famous Michael, or I may pull out the classic "Monster Mash" — Chris Woodrich (talk) 16:04, 31 October 2024 (UTC) (Update: did both, as well as "Devil Went Down to Georgia"03:30, 1 November 2024 (UTC))
