Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Mall of the North a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Mall of the North. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. twotwofourtysix(My talk page and contributions) 03:56, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Well, that has never happened before and i did not Copy and Paste anything because i created the Draft, and made a mistake with Rediction of which i have solved now. It would be great if the article wasn't scheduled for speedy deletion so that i (and other editors) can improve the Mall of the North article Motlatlaneo (talk) 04:04, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Motlatlaneo,
It is improper to "cut and paste" a draft article in the main space of the project. It almost led me to delete this article. You are losing the edit history and the contributions of the editors who worked on the draft. The appropriate step is to move the draft into the main space, not copy the article and paste it on a new page. Do not ever do this again or it could result in a loss of editing privileges.
If you have questions, please bring them to the Teahouse. Liz Read! Talk! 04:31, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

My apologies, i could not find the "move" option anywhere and unfortunately I'm still struggling to find it. I created the Draft(s) and i surely haven't done the Copy-and-Paste move before today and i will follow the encyclopedia guildlines as you requested

Thank you. Motlatlaneo (talk) 04:47, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Mall of the North moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Mall of the North, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Mall of the North requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://mallofthenorth.co.za/about-us/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In need of immediate assistance

@DanCherek there is a vandalized article which I somehow cannot undo/revert the edits done to it, check out Rethabile, it is a place in South Africa and someone turned it to a BLP with no references although there is a draft (Draft:Rethabile Khumalo) for the artist that needs to be improved

Please help Motlatlaneo (talk) 15:15, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the ping. They made two edits to the article and you undid the second one; I've now undone the first one so the infobox is back and the article should be back in its original state. It might be an issue of a new editor not understanding the article creation process rather than vandalism. I see you left them a talk page message, which is good. Let me know if you need more assistance with anything. DanCherek (talk) 15:27, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

No, that template was not appropriate because you did not (and cannot) actually block them, and it's to be used only by administrators. I've removed it from their talk page because it was misleading. Please don't use that in the future. Thanks. DanCherek (talk) 18:28, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

You placed a userbox on your user page which claimed that you are a participant in Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation. I removed it, since you are not an AfC reviewer, and it would not be helpful to other new editors if they were to think that you are a reviewer and ask you to assist them. It is great that you want to help out with AfC, but since you are not yet experienced enough to evaluate drafts, it would be better if you were to focus on editing existing articles. The draft has no sources that show how or why Abrahams is notable. It has two primary sources – his own or the TV show's descriptions – and that is not sufficient. In addition, there were three sources that should not have been used at all: Wikipedia, and two content scraper sites. Those have been removed since WP:BLP applies in draftspace as well as in mainspace. --bonadea contributions talk 16:04, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

What was the problem with the article? Enlighten me so that I can improve it
Motlatlaneo (talk) 21:35, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
As the problem is a lack of notability, which is defined with respect to the subject's coverage or achievements in the world outside of Wikipedia, you can't fix a lack of notability by editing the article. At best, you can find reliable sources that demonstrate or verify notability, and cite those as sources for the information in the article, but if you already have those, you need to raise them in the current discussion. Without them, it's tough to defend the subject's notability. Largoplazo (talk) 17:51, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Notice

The article Blxckie has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NMUSICIAN, is WP:TOOSOON, and is written from a fan's viewpoint

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. @Xclusivzik, the article is a stub and I really don't see any problem with the article as of now beside the fact that it only needs additional prose. In your point of view, how can I expand/better the article?
Motlatlaneo (talk) 21:08, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

For now it seems Mas Musiq doesn’t meet WP:GNG as there are no sources that are in-depth, and talk about him in detail. This simply means the article’s a WP:TOOSOON. However if you oppose this and think otherwise, you can the submit the article through AfC and another editor will review it. Xclusivzik (talk) 08:37, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Motlatlaneo,

If you are going to tag pages for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/TFD/etc.), it's easiest to use Twinkle, an editing tool that helps editors and, most importantly, will post a talk page notification to the page creator which is a part of every deletion tagging.

If you want to delete a page to move another page to a title, go into Twinkle (it's a drop down menu at the top of the page marked TW), select CSD>G6 Move and put in the name of the page you want moved. Then, the admin who looks over the deletion request can delete the old page and move in the new page with one click. When you write out long explanations like you did, the request ends up in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion for unspecified reason which tends not to be looked at as frequently by admins as much as other categories where the deletion reasons are more straight-forward and predictable. Just a little advice. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:20, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

There's nothing "promotional" about it. The less you're able to write a long, detailed article about a person's career to make notability obvious via the length of the article, the more necessary it is to immediately hammer home "what is the strongest notability claim to justify why this article exists at all" right up top. You'll note, however, that I wrote the sentence in a neutral way rather than an advertorial way — but for a relatively new actor who hasn't had a lot of major roles and probably wouldn't have qualified for an article at all yet if he hadn't gotten an award nomination last week, the most important notability-making stuff has to be made immediately apparent by introducing him as an award-nominated actor right off the bat. Hi @Neo the Twin:, I've reverted your revert of my edit once again – I've already explained the reasons why I made these changes, and you seem hellbent on ignoring them.. I suggest you go and read content and formatting guidelines. We do not source the same information over and over again repeatedly throughout the article. The preferred place to cite birth and death information is in the body itself, NOT the infobox. As for the "cause of death" parameter that you've restored to the infobox, it isn't used for biographies unless the cause is central to the subject of the article (e.g. Alexander Litvinenko, poisoning. As you can see in the case of others subjects who committed suicide (e.g. Robin Williams), this field is NOT populated within the infobox. --Jkaharper (talk) 14:56, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Nadia Nakai reverts

Please explain. The article says, "Most of my life I was known as Nadia Dlamini, but when I was 16 I changed my name to my mom's". / Source 2. So how does that translate to, in your words, "lead statement states that she changed her last name to Dlamini", when she clearly changed it from Dlamini (her South African father's surname) to Kandava (her Zimbabwean mother's surname, which she currently uses)? N/B: She also confirms this in the Netflix show, Young, Famous & African, but of course this is inadmissible on Wikipedia.

Secondly, why not change the parts you disagree with rather than just revert multiple edits? (As I see you've done now — great!, but only after you reverted everything at first.) This is only acceptable for uncited edits. There are numerous edits that are not related to name/nationality disputes in those reverts. In addition, none of your sources you've added today seem to support that name change from Kandava to Dlamini. This suddenly justifies that numerous of your reverts to the article are not based on fact but seemingly you wanting to be right. In case you are not aware, née means former/birth name. Perhaps confusion is coming from there?

In terms of autopatrolled user reverts, I have not seen evidence of this on this article or any other recently. You yourself don't seem to be one. Perhaps you have me confused with another user.

As for nationality, going to your comment/entry, "South African-born Zimbabwean" means that she is Zimbabwean but based/born in South Africa. However, alternative sources also state she is South African—citizenship which she can inherit from her South African father: Source 3, Source 4, Label source. I would suggest having it as "...is a South African-Zimbabwean rapper..." because it's possible that she changed citizenship when she was older or possibly has dual citizenship (both countries allow). At the same time, it supports both points of view that she is South African and is Zimbabwean. Thoughts? — Wikitaks (talk) 12:48, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Judy Jay

Hello, Shelovesneo. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Judy Jay".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

New page reviewer granted

Hi Shelovesneo. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. – Joe (talk) 08:37, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your suggestion, can you please point to what area you are referring to? I am part of a program sponsored by Wikipedia to get more regional and Indigenous content on Wikipedia.

Onceuponashell, I'm lost, do you mind enlightening me on what you're on about please? shelovesneo (talk) 04:55, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
You suggested it sounded like an advert, I was wondering what part you were referring to as I can review it. Onceuponashell (talk) 05:00, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Onceuponashell, wording like "extraordinary" and "unparalleled appearance and captivating display of colours" does not really sit well with the encyclopedia neutrality, and as a reviewer, I can see that no one but wiki system marked or think the article is potential spam. shelovesneo (talk) 05:07, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
That is how an opal is described. The opal as described by National Geographic, the Smithsonian, he Gemmological Association of Great Britain, Collectors world wide, museums, collectors and experts, buyers and miners along with many more as extraordinary and unparalleled along with unique and memorizing. It is not an advert it is using factual wording used by those in the industry. Onceuponashell (talk) 05:36, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: The Almost September EP

Hello Shelovesneo. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of The Almost September EP, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A9 is used for music recording and it doesn't apply anyway as KRS-One has an article. Thank you. BangJan1999 21:42, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

BangJan1999, is that a KRS-One album? , and even if it was it does not necessarily mean the album or EP automatically passes WP:Notability (music), and since you recreated the article and didn't request for its restoration, I'm gonna move it to draftspace and leave a template where you can submit the article for review if you feel like the article is ready, another reviewer (not me) will take over. Thanks for understanding. shelovesneo (talk) 00:34, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

+rollback

Hi Shelovesneo,

After reviewing your request, I have added your account to the rollback group. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Users should be informed (or warned) after their edits have been reverted. If warnings repeatedly don't help, WP:ANI is the default place to go. In cases of very clear ongoing intentional damage to the encyclopedia, WP:AIV can be used.
  • Reverting someone's edits may confuse or upset them. Whenever other users message you on your talk page, please take the time to respond to their concerns; accountability is important. For most users who message you, the tone and quality of your answer will permanently influence their opinion about Wikipedia in general.
  • Because the plain default rollback link does not provide any explanatory edit summary, it must not be used to revert good faith contributions, even if these contributions are disruptive. Take the time to write a proper summary whenever you're dealing with a lack of neutrality or verifiability; a short explanation like "[[WP:NPOV|not neutral]]" or "[[WP:INTREF|Please provide a citation]]" is helpful.
  • Rollback may never be used to edit war, which you'll notice to be surprisingly tempting in genuine content disputes. Please especially keep the three-revert rule in mind. If you see others edit warring, please file a report at WP:ANEW. The most helpful essay I've ever seen is WP:DISCFAIL; it is especially important for those who review content regularly.
  • If you encounter private information or threats of physical harm during your patrols, please quickly use Special:EmailUser/Oversight or Special:EmailUser/Emergency; ideally bookmark these pages now. See WP:OS and WP:EMERGENCY for details. If you're regularly patrolling recent changes, you will need both contacts sooner or later, and you'll be happy about the bookmarks.

To try rollback for the first time, you may like to make an edit to WP:Sandbox, and another one, and another one, and then revert the row with one click. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about rollback. Thank you for your time and work in cleaning up Wikipedia. Happy editing!

Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 08:28, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Why are trying to get Ruud Aaron Gwirambira page deleted Ruud Gwirambira (talk) 00:16, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Ruud Gwirambira, I'm sorry but the article did not show any significance of importance, does not pass WP:NOTABILITY and it seems like you were writing about yourself which is unacceptable on this site. However, if you feel like I was wrong and you somewhat have enough reliable secondary sources to back your article you can request for its restoration. Page mover granted

Hello, Shelovesneo. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 08:35, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Draftifying

Hi Shelovesneo. Have you read the instructions for draftifying at WP:NPPDRAFT and/or WP:DRAFTIFY? So far you have not been notifying the page's creator about the draftify. You can do this automatically by installing User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft, as those pages recommend. The script also warns you if you try to draftify a page with 1 hour of the most recent edit or to draftify a page that was draftified once before (both of which those pages say not to do).

Also, did you disagree with my decision to decline your technical request to (re-)draftify an article? After all, you requested page-mover permissions less than two hours after that. SilverLocust 💬 10:51, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

SilverLocust, greetings, thank you for the intel I did not know about the script, it will indeed come in handy.

No, me requesting the was different reasons as stated when I requested the right, and since we're on this matter I would appreciate it if you looked at "(At Your Best) You Are Love" and the hatnote, I could use your help, thank you shelovesneo (talk) 15:42, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
I've left two replies at that talk page. I'm a little busy at the moment but let me know if you still need some help with it. SilverLocust 💬 17:37, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

no sources

If an article has sources, even ones that are difficult to understand or not high quality, then it is not correct to draftify it as having "no sources" as you did with Draft:David Cohen (Jack the Ripper suspect).

At the very least the first source is easy to find by searching it with Google. The article was mostly copied directly from Jack the Ripper suspects. I have added a note for attribution in an edit summary. The page may be sensible as a WP:SIZESPLIT, since Jack the Ripper suspects exceeds 90k in length. Do you have any other reasons for draftifying it? If not, you should move it back to mainspace. SilverLocust 💬 11:07, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

SilverLocust, hello mate, next time please revise the page history, Draft:Jawaja village was "improved" after it was moved and can you please mention at lease one source listed under Draft:David Cohen (Jack the Ripper suspect). "Feel free" to move them back to mainspace and a reviewer (not me) will takeover, Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 11:18, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
I edited my comment at 11:09 to remove the mention of Draft:Jawaja village, since I realized that it was revised. I had looked at David Cohen before Jawaja village, and evidently was overly quick to conclude that it had the same issue. As to David Cohen, this is a source: Begg, Jack the Ripper: The Facts, p. 385. Of course, it would be better expanded. SilverLocust 💬 11:26, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
I'm sorry, next time take your time. When I look up the highlighted text I find book(s) and nothing under news or about the mentioned subject, maybe you should rework the source(s) and add link(s) to them, again, my apologies you can move the page and a new page patroller will do the rest. Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 11:35, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

What is your rationale for moving the draft to the mainspace? – robertsky (talk) 04:19, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Greetings robertsky, I have looked up the subject (since I could not translate each and every non-english source cited on the article) and they have been making the news for quite some time now, if you object and feel like it is not ready and it's necessary to draftify it, you may proceed. Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 04:38, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Did you even bother to read my contesting comment in RM/TR and check to see if there were significant differences from the previous version in the previous redirect that was the outcome of the AfD? – robertsky (talk) 04:40, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Yes, i checked the deletion log which was made 7 years ago if I'm not mistaken, my apologies if i stepped on your toe, did i make a mistake?
I stand to be corrected. shelovesneo (talk) 04:45, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
I am just curious what is the difference between your and my evaluations. I think I know now.
I started off looking at the number of edits that was done on the redirect, typically via the XTools gadget which shows the stats under the page title header. In this case, there were >10 edits for the redirect, which typically a result of either a long move history or prior article that used to exist at the title. Either case would warrant a more depth look at the cause.
A check on the redirect's page history shows that there was a prior article that was blanked and redirected as a result of a recent AfD. This will not show up in the deletion logs.
Do make a comparison between the above linked permalink and the draft that you have moved to the mainspace and see if the new article will survive another round of AfD. :) – robertsky (talk) 05:06, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Whoa, i did not see that, my mistake. If I may ask, If there was a Johnny Suh draft which I moved and there's another draft after I moved the page, how is it that they co-exist simultaneously? Am I missing something here?
Okay, I made a huge mistake. shelovesneo (talk) 05:25, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
An editor independently recreated the article in the draftspace while the redirect, with the prior history, in the mainspace. You did a swap between the old redirect and the draft. – robertsky (talk) 05:31, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up mate, i hope this does not backfire and blow in my face, thank you brother. shelovesneo (talk) 05:39, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
No worries. Just revert your moves before another AfD opens up, and carry on from there. Everyone makes mistakes, we just learn from them. :) – robertsky (talk) 05:47, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Easier said than done, mind landing a hand please, robertsky. shelovesneo (talk) 05:50, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Done. – robertsky (talk) 06:49, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
I don't think this was a huge mistake. If you generally liked helping with the new-article backlogs, I would encourage you to ask to continue whenever you are interested. If you don't want to request new-page-reviewer permission again for now, you could instead request access to the AfC Helper script. My apologies if I was too critical above in #Draftifying. Thanks for all your work. SilverLocust 💬 04:43, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
SilverLocust, after robertsky told me about this "mistake" i thought i was truly doing a horrible job and just had to lay back for a minute although i still feel like the subject pass WP:N and should be in mainspace and it will take forever for a reviewer to go through the draft. I will try to help with the WP:AfC backlog. Thank you, you are appreciated. shelovesneo (talk) 05:39, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Shelovesneo, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! – Joe (talk) 13:37, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

NPA and PERM etiquette

shelovesneo, since WP:PERM exists for users to ask admins to assign them rights, there is rarely a good reason to comment there if you're not requesting a right or in a position to assign one. Anywhere on the project, it's advisable to comment on content, not contributors, and avoid anything that could be construed as a personal attack, like describing someone as "incompetent". – Joe (talk) 10:07, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello Joe, my apologies, I was trying to outline the mistakes made by the user (concerning use of language and "Uncivil behavior") to take into consideration before granting the perm but instead I guess made a mistake too. shelovesneo (talk) 10:32, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Dxneo,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Reminders:

A tag has been placed on Harsh Dhage, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, Dxneo,

Is User:ihateneo an alternate account of yours? I see you working on an article that this account created and that account edited your Sandbox. If it is another account of yours, please state that on your User page and the User page of ihateneo or it could be seen an improper use of multiple accounts and lead to an SPI which I'm sure you don't want to happen. Please accept my article

The other reviewer lives in Australia and it’s midnight over there. I doubt it’s going to be accepted for a while now. Also to add, the citations you referred to, I had already added in the article prior please take another look and also please accept my article. I spent hours gathering information. Thatsoddd (talk) 15:02, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

The ‘reception’ part and was added like a couple hours prior to your comment includes that, as well as the part where the charts are. Article is pretty much finished and ready. Unless some sources are unreliable but you didn’t seem to tell me that information so I assume they are reliable. Thatsoddd (talk) 15:11, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello Thatsoddd, Sorry for late reply and for that I don't review upon requests, however I'm willing to make an exception if you can find more reliable sources other than that of Billboard. I believe the editor declined the draft for a reason and I'm not willing to override their decision without consulting them first. Thank you dxneo (talk) 20:39, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
Can it be a paid source? Thatsoddd (talk) 21:52, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
Please see WP:COI. dxneo (talk) 22:32, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
No, I mean a source that is paid. Not something I was paid for. Like a source you have to pay money to see. I’m not being paid to do anything. Sorry if it says that I’m not the best reader. Thatsoddd (talk) 00:49, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Normally it is discouraged to pay sources to issue out a word (about you or anyone else), that's why is it regarded as COi. Paid sources are not usually reliable. dxneo (talk) 12:56, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Ways to improve Metro FM Music Award for Song of the Year

Hello, Dxneo,

Thank you for creating Metro FM Music Award for Song of the Year.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

IMO this article should be merged into Metro FM Music Awards.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|North8000}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

North8000 (talk) 18:57, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello North8000, does the article need expansion or rather more (reliable) sources to pass notability? dxneo (talk) 19:19, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
I felt I could not pass it due to notability grounds but I didn't do anything with it's status either way and so will probably get reviewed by someone else. It's possible that someone might pass it as a sort of list article or via (unofficial) more lenient standards of being a sort of "sub-article" of Metro FM Music Awards but I am not comfortable with doing that. Regarding wp:notability, it would need at least 1 and preferably 2 published independent sources that cover the award itself in depth. The lack of sources covering the award itself also means that there is near zero coverage of the award itself in the article. There's just a sentence that says what it is and then listing of people that have received it. My merge suggestion was just a suggestion. Thanks for your work and happy editing! North8000 (talk) 20:56, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
North8000, not much to touch on an award category as they rarely have SiGCOV, I hope the sources I have recently added does the trick. dxneo (talk) 20:34, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Code Page 037

Thank you for your help with the Cp37 redirect. Could I ask you to also create CP37 and Code Page 037, with the same target of Code page 37?
The leading zero followed a once-common convention of assuming code page numbers to be three digits. I guess that convention fully went away when four-digit code page numbers started appearing (e.g. CP1252). There already is a Code page 037 redirect (with lowercase P).
I suppose the question whether or not to capitalise the P could be considered controversial. Wiki-conventions would suggest no, but back in the day, that letter often was capitalised. Perhaps redirects are the right olive branch.

I have also just discovered that CP037 has a scary red box. There seems to have been a mass extinction event at one stage, after someone had created articles for All The Code Pages (even more obscure ones). If it had been up to me, I would have suggested redirection of all the obscure ones to a general article or list, but I'm not presently motivated to work on such a list, or indeed second-guess the mass extinction. I would however suggest reinstating CP037 as another redirect to the well-known Code page 37. It's not even clear to me exactly how CP037 got caught in the wake of the extinction event, or why it ever would have redirected to Code page 875. I'm not familiar with the latter. Never heard of it. And of course I cannot now read whatever that might have said. I will note that CP037 does not actually appear on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Code_page_875, but EBCDIC 037 does. I suppose if you are in the mood to second-guess the extinction, perhaps EBCDIC 037 is the most deserving of reinstatement, as a redirect to Code page 37, which is (or was) an EBCDIC code page and might well have been referred to thus. ReadOnlyAccount (talk) 06:11, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

PS: All I said and asked about CP037 also applies, mutatis mutandis, to Cp037, the lowercase-P variant.
PPS: I just googled Code Page 875. It's all Greek to me.

Apparently I can make redirects now, so I've gone ahead and made CP37 and Code Page 037 all by myself.
I have not done the same for CP037 and Cp037 (or EBCDIC 037). Feel free to make those if you think it's okay, or else I might ask around and seek consensus elsewhere.
I have also since frequented Wikipedia:Redirects for creation, which as best I recall was not discoverable from the (foam-padded, kiddie-coloured and mildly schoolmarmy) chaperone blurb I got to see on new/nonexistent pages while logged in but not "confirmed", instead of the on balance more useful box people see when not logged in, or when logged in and "confirmed". Redirects are discoverable via Wikipedia:Requested articles, which is discoverable via the useful box. Anyway, maybe "Redirect for creation" is the right process for those three? W/r/t the aforementioned perceived functional deficiencies of the chaperone blurb, is there some other place I could or should kvetch about that? ReadOnlyAccount (talk) 09:03, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello ROA, it is okay to create those redirects by yourself, of course they'll have to be reviewed and I personally don't see any problem in creating them. You can easily create them by clicking on those red links.

You can install and use the following scripts for assistance with redirects:

I hope this helps, happy editing, enjoy. Thank you dxneo (talk) 10:34, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. I've been a little conservative and submitted the three redirects in question to Redirects for creation, just to not pull a fast one, and because red boxes = scary. Barely a fortnight now till Halloween. :) ReadOnlyAccount (talk) 10:50, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

Can you accept my article please?

Undecline Santana Montana (artis) (talk) 17:28, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello, unfortunately the draft does not show importance or rather why it should be moved to mainspace, it is unreferenced and not well written. Please see WP:CITE and WP:N, alternatively seek for help at The Teahouse, thank you. dxneo (talk) 18:21, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
And please make sure to never blank anyone's talk page again. dxneo (talk) 18:28, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi! I'm not sure why you insisted that this article was copy paste. This tool clearly indicated a 48.7% similarity. Additionally, Turnitin (the tool that college professors use to check for plagiarism) also indicated "No matching sources found." Đại Việt quốc (talk) 14:55, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello to you too Đại Việt quốc, my apologies but it only meant that the article needs paraphrasing/cleanup as it was marked as potential copyright vio, eventually someone was going to tag it or alternatively move it to draftspace for incubation. Wikipedia:Guidelines insists that editors use their own words and 48% of copyright vio attack is not really good, that's why it was detected.dxneo (talk) 15:01, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Well, have you checked the matching part using the tool then? Here (with Turnitin on), most of the matching parts are the French names that are 4-5 words long, which is impossible to be written differently. Đại Việt quốc (talk) 15:05, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Well, again my apologies, feel free to remove the tag. Happy editing. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 15:07, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Some of those were translation from French. I retranslated it in my own words lowered the similarity to 34.2%. Hope that helped. Đại Việt quốc (talk) 15:53, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Keep in mind that names are not to be translated, i.e do not translate "John Cena" to Spanish language, let it be, and use your own words always when adding (cited) information. dxneo (talk) 16:43, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Wammo doesn't quite fall under G14 – G14 is for DAB pages either disambiguate zero extant pages, or one extant page with the title ending in (disambiguation). Pretty easy mistake to make, but keep it in mind for the future. (FYI, I don't mind if this is turned into a redirect to Wammo (album), though I would move the album to the undisambiguated title if that were to happen.) Skarmory (talk • contribs) 02:19, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello Skarmory, redirect to a disambiguated page? You have the Page mover rights you can perform the round-robin swap and fix all of this, please do that. dxneo (talk) 02:27, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Do you get paid to delete peoples pages?

?? Pratikpagare19 (talk) 10:22, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello to you too 19, actually I moved the article to draftspace but you insisted on reverting my edit rather than improving the draft, in doing so you mistakenly built a house on shaking grounds and it fell on all of us since the article is now CSDd again and now as my article. I'm sorry but please never do that again. dxneo (talk) 10:45, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Dxneo.

Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.

Ethiopian Golden Age Edit

I removed that content because it wasn't sourced, and nowhere else in the article do they mention soul and funk as being influences on the golden age of ethiopian music. ሰይፍ (talk) 00:13, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Signature contrast

Hi. Right now the contrast ratio of your signature is 1.23, which is too low to be accessible for hard-of-sight users. Acceptable values are usually above 4.5. I personally use Contrast Finder to do contrast checking. Izno (talk) 06:33, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello Izno, my apologies for this act of selfishness, I hope it is better now and not too bright either Thank you. dxneo (talk) 07:05, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
Yup, that's great. Izno (talk) 17:08, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

NPPHOUR

Hi Dxneo, thanks for helping out patrolling new pages. I noticed that you reverted one of my G2 taggings on Battle of Outpost saying that "This page was only created 16 minutes ago. Please don't rush to tag pages at the front of the queue. The author may still be working on it." This would hold true for many pages, but not this. G2 taggings are exempt from Wikipedia:NPPHOUR. Additionally, I invite you to look through the creators talk page and contributions: this reveals repeated vandalism (albeit self-reverted) and an identical situation from yesterday. Given this context, I've reported the account to AIV for Wikipedia:NOTHERE and Wikipedia:CIR. Truly, thanks for your work regarding NPP and your ability to stand up for NPPHOUR, just in this case it was slightly misapplied. All the best, Schminnte [talk to me] 22:15, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello Schminnte, thanks for your lengthy explanation, I have visited their talk page and probably noticed the article that was deleted yesterday but I kind of thought that everybody deserves a second chance, however they were clearly not here to build an encyclopedia. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 22:39, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Concerning the use of rollback at 2022 Asian Para Games closing ceremony

Please note that your use of rollback at 2022 Asian Para Games closing ceremony is not an appropriate use of that tool. While this edit that you used rollback on may have had a less-than-civil edit summary, it was not vandalism (incivility is not vandalism). Using rollback and labeling an edit that is not vandalism as vandalism is a misuse of that tool. Furthermore, a removed PROD tag should not be restored unless the editor removing it did so while evading a block, or its removal was part of vandalism such as page blanking or other obvious vandalism. While the explanations they gave were not what I would call persuasive, the removal of the PROD was not vandalism, the PROD should not have been restored, and rollback should not have been used to revert the edit, especially in a way that indicates that the edits were vandalism. Please keep that in mind moving forward, thank you. - Aoidh (talk) 13:49, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello Aoidh, thank you for addressing the issue, I'm still learning (and thinking of joining the Discord server), I will be more careful in the future. My apologies and again, Thank you. dxneo (talk) 15:21, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello Qcne, thanks for comment on where to improve the page. I've seen so many fictional character articles like Damon Salvatore, Hakeem Lyon, and Angela Valdes just to mention a few with plot summaries that's why I took that into consideration, so if I cut/minimize the plot summary the draft would be great?
Oh and thanks for the invite to the Teahouse. dxneo (talk) 19:22, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
Yes, I rekon if you concise the plot summary substantially and let me know, we can accept it. Qcne (talk) 19:32, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
Qcne, I have summarized the page to the best of my abilities, couldn't bring myself to cutting off "seasons" as they indicate the debut, how the character was moving and when. I believe it would be pointless to submit it through reviewal process again, so here we are. dxneo (talk) 22:40, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Idols SA

Hi Dxneo. Could you provide a reason why you reverted all my changes to Idols South Africa? What exactly did you find problematic? Thanks in advance. -Wikitaks (talk) 21:06, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello Wikitaks, the cited source (tinyurl.com/bdz5935f) was a shortened link which is unfortunately not acceptable just like e.g. goo.gl, t.co, youtu.be, bit.ly, rather use full domain name like youtube.com. My apologies it affected lots of your other edits, I intended to fix it but I somehow forgot. Thank you for your contributions and happy editing. dxneo (talk) 21:17, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
Lol. Dxneo That was not a cited source. It was part of the title of a source. I cited a tweet that included a shortened link (as do most tweets [to use less characters]; or whatever Elon decides to call them). No worries though. I get why someone could interpret it that way. Here's the source: twitter.com/IdolsSA/status/1720862922467889603/. Wikitaks (talk) 21:51, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
LOL Twitter is a primary source, therefore not appropriate for citing (unless its backed by an independent source), please see WP:RS and WP:Primary sources. Wikitaks, are you by any chance South African? dxneo (talk) 21:57, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
@Dxneo The WP:Primary sources clearly states: "For official accounts from celebrities and organizations on social media, see the section about self-published sources below.[...] Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, usually in articles about themselves or their activities, without the self-published source requirement that they are established experts in the field, so long as:
  1. the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
  2. it does not involve claims about third parties;
  3. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
  4. there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and
  5. the article is not based primarily on such sources.
This policy also applies to material published by the source on social networking websites such as Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Facebook." Wikitaks (talk) 22:42, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
Oh, and yes Mzansi
Wikitaks, sorry but I can't see any of your claims within those guidelines and it's okay because the problem has been solved, happy editing and yeah I'm from Polokwane Ext 44, South Africa, nice meeting you here, goodluck. dxneo (talk) 22:52, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
