August 2024

Hello. I just wanted to know why is it not necessary? I know articles that have written the YouTube views count, such as the song "Seven" by Taylor Swift (which is a GA), and they're always sourced (at least their GA reviewed version). So I just wanted to ask if there's anything I don't know about such a situation. Please let me know, regards. Medxvo (talk) 09:06, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello Medxvo, most of the times this kind of statements are not cited (especially to YouTube). Because the numbers/views are constantly changing and YouTube is considered unreliable and I'm trying to get the article to GA then FA. I'm currently working on getting Tyla (album) to FA and when I was addressing PR requests, I was instructed to remove YouTube URLs. I did not remove YouTube only, but TikTok too and other social links will be removed too— dxneo (talk) 10:40, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
I see. I have seen several articles using YouTube URLs as sources for lyric or music videos, and they were promoted to GAs. Examples include "Christmas Tree Farm", "The Man", "Cardigan", "Willow", "Champagne Problems", "I Can See You", and "Seven". Also, from what I understand from WP:VIDEOLINK, music videos can be used if needed (if there's no other reliable source). And for the "numbers/views are constantly changing", that's why "as of" and "access-date" are added to the statement and the source, to clarify the exact date. I think YouTube music videos URLs are pretty much different from TikTok and other social media posts, and they can be used if needed. Let me know what you think, thank you. Medxvo (talk) 11:45, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
Medxvo, in terms of GAs, it depends on who's the reviewer. For example, see Talk:Trust Issues/GA1, the reviewer was so strict and wanted validation of sources, they didn't care if the content of the source is good or not and that's what makes a Good Article. At PR, YouTube is only tolerated if it's an interview from a trusted publisher (Billboard for example), other URLs can be listed under external links, and no, they do not accept music videos as sources per PS. However, it's okay, you can cite YouTube but if they request that I remove it at GAC, PR or FAC, I won't hesitate. Take care, happy editing. — dxneo (talk) 13:23, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
Music videos are primary sources indeed, but they can be used per WP:VIDEOLINK, since the publisher is Vevo. The "Trust Issues" reviewer was strict about the reliability of some publications, which is understandable and happens at every GA/FA nomination, but that is not what I am talking about here. Anyway, I will not cite YouTube at "Water (Tyla song)", but they may request a source for the YouTube views information when nominating "Water" for GA/FA, I just wanted to point that out. Thank you! An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Water (Tyla song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hitparade.

Your GA nomination of Tyla

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Tyla you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Chchcheckit -- Chchcheckit (talk) 20:41, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Dxneo,

This main space page was protected and there was a previous AFD on an article on this subject. There has been a lot of sockpuppetry regarding this article in the past and present and the sources are pretty iffy (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DJ Kelblizz (2nd nomination) for a source analysis). So, I'm wondering why you accepted this draft and moved it to main space, not once but twice. It must have seemed main space-ready to you for you to accept it twice so I'm wondering what you thought of the sources when you reviewed the draft. Maybe you can offer your opinion at the AFD. Thanks for any insight you can provide to your process. Liz Read! Talk! 03:43, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Draft:South African Music Encyclopedia

Hey,

I hate cutting across a fellow AfC/NPP reviewer's work, so wanted to run this by you first.

I'm thinking of accepting Draft:South African Music Encyclopedia despite your rejection. I think there's evidence that this was a significant work in its day, and IMO as such passes WP:GNG and probably also WP:NBOOK. In any case, if I've interpreted your review comment correctly, this was a procedural rather than substantive rejection?

Any objections?

Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:05, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Thank you so much for reaching out mate, I appreciate that. I think I was too quick to judge (because I mainly work on the South African side of the encyclopedia), but I find it very difficult to verify the content of the page because of its citation style. If you think that it is ready for mainspace then please accept it, the backlog is way too long. Thank you again, happy editing! dxneo (talk) 17:49, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi! Why did you revert my edit https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?diff=1245737926&markasread=326164503&markasreadwiki=enwiki&oldid=prev&title=Tyla ? Thx in advance Osalbahr (talk) 07:56, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello Osalbahr, South Africa is a common terminology, there's a script solely written to unlink such terms including the United States, YouTube, New York and so on. dxneo (talk) 08:01, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Re: Mentorship

Hi there Dxneo! Thanks for reaching out about the FAC. So immediately, I'd be worried about the album being released earlier this year, and not having enough time to see the legacy of the album. That doesn't mean you need to wait ten years, but I'd be worried about the stability of the article when there's statements like this - the album proves Tyla has the potential to become "one of the genre-defining stars of her generation". While that's certainly potential down the road, it's a bit early to assess that. For instance, Tyla hasn't even gone on tour yet to promote the album (due to the injury). What's going to happen once she starts touring? That's going to affect the article.

So I can certainly assess the article right now, and point out its flaws. Here's a quick few things that stand out right now that you can work on:

 • The lead is pretty short, with three short paragraphs. Could you expand any more?
I am really struggling with this. Few pointers would really help. dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
For instance, what does it even mean to release an album these days? Were there vinyl records pressed, or CD's, or was it released online? I'm not even sure what it means to be "released through FAX and Epic Records". Was it only released in South Africa, or released worldwide? Also, the part about the injury can be expanded, since that affected the tour. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
I have expanded the lead, tell me if it's okay or not. dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
What does it mean to be "released through FAX and Epic Records"? And what about expanding on the injury affecting the tour? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Fixed. Thanks. dxneo (talk) 02:34, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "The Tyla Tour was announced, some dates of which were cancelled due to injuries." - it appears that most of the dates were canceled? The article for Tyla Tour only indicates one show on the tour that she performed.
I corrected the inaccuracy. Been busy improving this article, I must've missed it. dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
So did the tour ever happen? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
No. Not even one show. dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
So this is one aspect that is going to change about the article, once the tour actually happens. I recommend holding off on the FAC until after the tour is done, and keeping up with adding that info in. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
I highly doubt that it will ever happen. After the cancellation and postponement, she refunded the Europeans and she has been performing all along but she doesn't say anything about the tour. That's one of the reasons I held back on updating the Live performances subsection 'cause "she was injured." My guess is that the tickets didn't sell as expected so they had to come up with a stunt for cancellation dxneo (talk) 02:33, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "Tyla self-released her debut single "Getting Late" featuring Kooldrink, which gained popularity in South Africa and piqued the interest of executives at Epic Records." - since this is the debut album, I think you could probably expand on this. How did it gain popularity? Was the single released in 2019? And how did she self-release it?
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "In October 2023, Tyla told Capital Xtra she had been recording Tyla for over two years and that it would mostly be "popiano", a blend of amapiano and pop music." - you should probably explain what amapiano is, rather than just linking it.
Please elaborate here. I thought linking it would make sense and easy access for readers who aren't familiar with the genre. Although I doubt there are any as of today. dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
No, in fact linking it made me even more confused, since amapiano is already a portmanteau of a fusion of styles, and "pop music" is so broad a term that it's not even that useful unless you explain what you're going for here. As this is an artist's opening album, you're also describing the musical style, so it's important to be precise. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
I was confused on whether I should elaborate further under Background or Composition, I chose Background since it comes first. Hope that's okay. dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Yea this is a lot better here! Just one small thing - " she said that since amapiano songs were like eight to ten-minutes long, she wanted a three-minutes normal format of a pop song or an R&B song." - this part should either be a quote (the "like eight to ten-minutes long" feels like a quote), or this needs some tweaking. The two usages of "she" is a tad bit clunky here, but you're on the right track. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Thought so too. Fixed it. dxneo (talk) 02:43, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "Part of Tyla was recorded in Portland, Jamaica." - why is this worth mentioning, but not the locations of any of the other countries where the album was recorded?
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Not really done - how come you removed it? ♫
Haha! No, I did not remove it. I have added all the venues/studios per booklet. dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Oops totally missed that. Yea that's better. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

 • "Tyla announced Tyla's release via social media on 30 November 2023." - two things. I'd avoid saying Tyla twice within three words, but more importantly, the album wouldn't be released for a few more months after this date. So maybe something like "announced the upcoming release date" or something?
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • The description of "Safer" with "soothing melodies" feels like it was written by a fan, calling it "soothing". Could you find a more neutral way of writing this?
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "smooth melody". This might be a time when a quote is better to describe it, rather than possibly introducing bias into the writing. For example, a melisma is a musical term, but "belted her face off" is a bit more objective. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Done dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
You just removed "smooth", which makes it even more basic by just saying "melody". If someone described it as "smooth", then that would be a valid quote, but as a musician, I wanted to know objectively what it was. Almost every song has a "melody". ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • The album doesn't description doesn't mention anything about No. 1 or Breathe Me. Any reason? What about "Priorities"?
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "and includes raw vocals from Gunna and Skillibeng" - what do you mean by "raw vocals"?
I like to follow the references, but I fixed it. dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "Art", the tenth song on the album, has been described as the most-pleasantly erotic song Tyla has released since "Water" - who described this? Also, given the rest of this section is more about the actual songs and not reviews/descriptions of the songs, maybe you could write it to explain how it is the "most-pleasantly erotic song". You're fairly explicit with your description of Water, so you can do the same with Art.
As mentioned above, I like to follow the sources and unfortunately "Art" doesn't have much publications going deeper into its composition and lyrics like "Water". Any suggestions? dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
It seems like you're quoting someone, but you're not saying the exact quote here. "Pleasantly erotic" is something a fan would say, it's biased. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Done dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • "The album closes with a remix of "Water", with newly-added rap verses, courtesy of Travis Scott." - this is unsourced
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • I'd add when the tour was canceled/postponed, and when the injury was. That seems to be an important moment in the album.
I can get the cancelation date but they explained that she has been suffering from the injury prior to the tour (no date specified). dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • You mention Tyla's first performance on Colbert, but don't say if the Jimmy Fallon one was her first performance. Maybe remove the fact it was the "first performance", since that doesn't add much?
Done dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • Has Tyla performed at all since April? I see there was the BET awards she performed at. I'm guessing there might be a bit missing, since it only goes up to April. This echoes what I said earlier about it being difficult to get an article to FA for such a recent topic. Not impossible, but care is needed.
On it. dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
 • Aside from the following, there isn't much mixed to negative criticism: Lim also said despite the "little emotional or energetic dynamism". And the reviews said "Tyla received "universal acclaim" based on a weighted average score of 84 out of 100 from 10 critic scores" But 84 isn't perfect. Try balancing with some other less beneficial coverage.
Can you please help me with this too. This statement was generated through a template and I don't know how to get around it. Should I type it out manually? And if yes, then is it okay if I use the word "moderate?" dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Well do you have any quotes of anyone giving any criticism about the album? Or some negative coverage? It just doesn't feel balanced. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
I think I have solved this puzzle now. It's really not easy. dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Just checking, what was the negative criticism? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

So those are my main thoughts, having read the article with an eye for it being an FAC in the future. You've certainly done a good job so far on the article, so I hope the above can help. Whatcha think, Dxneo? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:57, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

Thank you so much Hurricanehink. I will now start working on the live performance. How did I do so far? I'm sorry if I am asking for too much, but I want this to be perfect. dxneo (talk) 01:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Oh and would it be okay if I added this audio sample to the article or it's okay with just one sample? dxneo (talk) 01:42, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
I'm not the most familiar with adding audio samples, you might want to reach out to another music editor to know what's appropriate. In general, I would say that it's probably not OK. This is an album, not a song, so the audio sample has a good rationale for fair use for the song itself, but I don't think that applies to the album, which is a body of work. Jump is an important part of that, but with 14 tracks, I don't think it needs the audio sample. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Not a problem sir, I was just taking reference from Red (Taylor Swift album). dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

Let me know what you think. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

I have addressed all mentioned issues, only thing left is the Live performances and I will get on it soon. dxneo (talk) 17:31, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

One last thing, I just did a Google search, and it looks like "Breathe Me" had a video released recently. Was that also a single? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

So far, only Rolling Stone has specifically referred to it as the "fifth single."

Tyla is on her fifth single from the album. She started in 2023 with the viral smash “Water,” which was followed earlier this year with “Truth or Dare” in February, “Art” in April,” and “Jump” in May.

I haven't found any radio date yet, therefore I'm not really sure if it's a single or not. What do you think sir? dxneo (talk) 02:19, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
This source also calls "Breathe Me" a single. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:20, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
As for just "single", we have a share of sources. Let me quickly update this. Oh and what if I can't find negative criticism? How do I go around that? dxneo (talk) 22:59, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Hello sir, I think I have addressed every issue including the performances and pop-up shows. I was thinking of going for FAC, I mean what could possibly go wrong Please do a double check before I proceed. dxneo (talk) 15:11, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
I still think you should try and find some more balanced criticism. Parts of the reception feel like it's written by a fan. Interestingly, since you asked me to review the article, I've noticed (anecdotally) people bashing the album, including a friend of mine I work out with (who can't stand "Water"), not to mention people on Reddit critiquing the album and Tyla's lasting potential as an artist. So given all of that, and that the Tour still hasn't happened, and the article is so new, is there a reason you want to go for FAC right now? The article is likely going to change if there are additional singles, or when/if the Tour finally happens. For instance, if there doesn't end up being a Tour, then that tour article can and probably should be merged with the album. One last thing I mentioned before that you didn't do - can you go more into the injury that led to the tour cancellation? Like, was it a twisted ankle?
And going back to your desire to have a successful FAC, are there any other projects that you were thinking about taking to FAC? I don't want to tell you not to do this album, but I really think you should wait a bit due to the potential changes, and perhaps you could try your hand at something else to get more experience with FAC's. Are there any other older albums or artists that you're interested in? Even if it's like two years old, at that point the topic is so much more stable than a recent album release. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:25, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Did you know that Tyla is not "big" in South Africa? 😅 I've never came across someone blasting "Water", her fused amapiano is not what they prefer around here. Even me, I'm just interested in her success because literally no one in South Africa has ever achieved this much success, I've never listened to her music (I only like "Truth or Dare"). Back to the article, I'm not in a rush to get it to FA, just that I've been working on it since it was announced on 1 December 2023. I'll try to balance the critics, problem is that I am only looking for reliable sources and they are all praising her, and I can't cite Reddit.

Again, they never went into detail about the injury. "An injurythat worsened," is all the information we got. That's why I think it was a stunt due to low ticket sales because she's now traveling and performing week in week out, and she has refunded the UK & Europe citizens 🤷‍♂️

I was thinking of going for some of the Weeknd's music and maybe Eminem's too. Thank you for everything, you were patient and I learned a lot. dxneo (talk) 20:28, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

I didn't know Tyla wasn't "big", but then, I only learned of her through you asking me to review the article. Don't cite Reddit, but hopefully you can find some other sources for more balanced coverage. As for the injury, here is one source that said the injury was due to twerking. I don't know if it's reliable, but it's something to keep in mind for when you do take the article to FAC, figuring out the injury, and whether or not it was a stunt due to the sales. As for those other artists, they have been around a lot longer, so they probably have a lot better coverage, meaning they'll be a lot easier to assess properly. Eminem, being even older, probably has even more retrospectives, critical analyses, whatnot. Check out The Marshall Mathers LP, and how many more sections there are. That shows how much there could be for an older album. Similarly, if an artist was injured 20 years ago, then we'd be able to have details on the injury, the recovery, the tour, maybe even a tour retrospective, depending on how significant it was. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:56, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

"Water" with over 808M streams, 2× Platinum in the US, 3× Platinum in Canada and Diamond in Brazil just to mention a few, it's not even Gold in South Africa, (at least not certified by RiSA).

An injury due to twerking is farfetched. I think that's just gossip 'cause she still twerking even now and she never stopped. Lots of reliable sources say it was an "undisclosed injury."

Again, thank you for everything. dxneo (talk) 01:35, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
For sure, you definitely have a good handle on how to edit. Admittedly, recent pop culture topics can be some of the trickiest articles to write about, since they're new, and it's tough to get high quality sources. Ideally you'd get a music journal analyzing the album, experts in the field discussing their opinions on the topic, but that doesn't apply to every topic. Keep up the great work. You're definitely making Wikipedia a better place with your edits. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:58, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

September 2024

Hello! First of all, I would like to thank you so much for your "How You Get the Girl" GA review, it really helped the article and its quality. Just wanted to know if you can help me with any guidelines or something on how to add audio files. Thank you for offering that, it will actually help me a lot! :) Medxvo (talk) 18:22, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

I wanted to make a screen record, but I guess I'll just type it out and if you don't get it then I will make a screen recording.

Step 1 – download the song
 • To download a good/high quality song, I copy the songs link from Spotify ("Bad Blood") then I paste it on this website (SpotifyDown), which will generate a download link.
Step 2 – trim
 • After downloading the song, I use AudioTrimmer to trim/crop the song to produce a sample. Remember, the sample must be equal or less than 10% of the original song's length per WP:SAMPLE.
Step 3 – convert
 • After trimming the song, I use this website to convert the sample to .ogg format.

From here, everything is done on Wikipedia, simple and easy

Step 4
Step 5
 • Since I'm a mobile user, I long click the red link and open it (preferably via a new tab/window).
 • On a new tab/indow, I copy contents found on Music sample info then paste on the newly opened "red link tab". It will help me create a non-free just like cover arts.
 • After that, you just fill in the blanks and upload your sample (.ogg), click "upload," then you are done.

Content on Music sample info

To avoid step 5
 • To make it easy for you, you can just copy the above "subst" then fill in the blanks to avoid step 5.

Step 6 – add sample to article
 • For this you can just copy and template from any other article which has the sample then add your own information. It's that easy.

I tried summarizing it for you to the best of my abilities. You can try by adding a sample for "How You Get the Girl" to see if you can get it right. Remember, I'll be with you every step of the way. Have fun! dxneo (talk) 03:01, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
@Dxneo, thank you so, so much for helping. I just added a sample for "How You Get the Girl" and added it to the article, if you would like to check how it looks and tell me. I really appreciate your help! Medxvo (talk) 11:50, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
Looks amazing. Nice one mate dxneo (talk) 12:05, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

Chihiro (song)

Hi Dxneo, this was pretty straightforward; the only problem I noticed is an ambiguous statement in "Composition and lyrics", which I've marked as needing clarification. Otherwise it looks good to me. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 03:26, 2 October 2024 (UTC)

Can you please not move redirects I created into your userspace? Or if you're doing round-robin moves because you refuse to create content on a redirect I made, at least request speedy deletion (using a template at WP:CSD) of the page afterwards. Thanks. Ss112 03:13, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

My draft keep declining

This in response to your great contribution to a question I asked in the Teahouse, and i am here because you asked me to reach out to you in your talk page. How can you help me with the ArticleDraft:Davide_Lombardi... . Denovoj (talk) 09:37, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

I'll look at it later. Thank you for reaching out to me. dxneo (talk) 09:59, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
Just looked at the article and all I can say is that I do understand why it was declined multiple times. Beside the structure of the article, let's look at the sources. Only one source is reliable (Telegraph), and it is not about Davide. I have seen a LinkedIn saying "Davide Lombardi" studied at Liverpool University, although I'm not quite sure if it's this Davide. Found sources in Google Scholar too. However, it's just WP:TOOSOON. dxneo (talk) 11:47, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

JZyNO

Can you provide an explanation as to why you removed the deletion notice? CNMall41 (talk) 01:09, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

CNMall41, my apologies, it was a conflict. dxneo (talk) 01:49, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I don't want to put words in your mouth but I am thinking you mean "accident" as opposed to "conflict." I will WP:AGF that it was such although it is strange that the entire code string for the AfD was removed and nothing else, including the short description directly above it. Moving on though...unless I read the policy wrong, using the other account would not be allowed under legitimate alternate account. Maybe so if you were using that account to keep everything with the G5 deletions in one place, but since you have opined in the deletion discussion with this account, that purpose would be moot. Can you let me know the legitimate reason under that policy you are using it?--CNMall41 (talk) 05:17, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
If you can check, I don't regularly use that account. I only use it when I'm away from home or when my PC is off or I'm away from it. I was told to indicate that I have an alt acct and all will be well, that's why they even granted me the autoreviewer right on that acct as well. My apologies for the confusion. dxneo (talk) 05:30, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I was told to stop using two accounts, I would immediately stop. dxneo (talk) 05:31, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
You indicate on the other account the exact purpose you are using it for. Unfortunately, that is not the only purpose you are using it for. In fact, you have multiple cross edits with the accounts, sometimes within minutes. Even the reasoning above seems strange. If your PC is off or you are away from home logging into an alternative account, why not just log into your main account? I'm sorry for so many questions but I don't just want to go to WP:ANI about it in case I am misunderstanding something. --CNMall41 (talk) 05:36, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I feel like going to ANI would resolve your issues. Please consider reaching out to the admins. dxneo (talk) 05:56, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
Anyway, thank you for alarming me about this. I think I'll just close the alt acct. May I archive this thread? dxneo (talk) 06:07, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
You are free to edit your talk page how you see fit of course. Just to be clear, you said to go to ANI with the issue? If so I can open a thread there but wanted to make sure I was clear on your statement. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:10, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
It's okay. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 06:18, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I am not sure I fully understand the response. I will open a thread there in the morning to seek clarification. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:20, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
No problem, I'll keep this thread afloat in case you might need reference or something. Damn! It's 08:23am in South Africa now, never really believed in timezones LOL. dxneo (talk) 06:23, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
Time is just a social construct. Thanks for keeping this open as it will be easier to view the discussion. I will give you the link once posted. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:25, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Warning

This is not appropriate, especially with one of the AfD's ongoing. Leaving a note as opposed to WP:DTR. CNMall41 (talk) 18:23, 23 October 2024 (UTC)

Why is this a "warning?" Again, hiding behind "WP:…" Never talk to me again. dxneo (talk) 18:29, 23 October 2024 (UTC)

Hello. Do you happen to have access to the News24 article?

This one.

If so please archive it on both wayback machine and the archive.ph website as it is of course a highly reliable source according to Wikipedia:Reliable South African Sources. It also allows others to be able to view it. This0k (talk) 14:40, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Unfortunately, even after I've archived it, it still does not reveal its content. You just got to subscribe, I guess. Most of the times I copy relevant content from subscription sites and paste them on |quote= You should do the same. dxneo (talk) 16:08, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Well I am not subscribed that's why I asked you because considering your references often include News24 it seems you are subscribed. So please at least archive it if you have subscription. This0k (talk) 16:20, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Yes, I understand. For some reasons, it's not working, it be like this sometimes. So, what you want is the article's content? Get a 14-days free trial, you'll be fine. dxneo (talk) 19:12, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
You were talking to me on the talk page about getting Push 2 Start and Art (song) to GA but I think that both will be a challenge. If any song should be GA it should be Water (Tyla song) as it is her biggest hit and would most likely be promoted to featured article but then again I doubt notability has anything to do with featured articles but it will probably be more likely to be featured if it's her biggest song. If you have tips for getting Art or Push to Start to GA though then let me know. My tips for getting Water to GA is adding a music video screenshot of her doing the viral dance as that might help and also noting and emphasizing the song's impact on the music industry which it did as I would consider Water as the song that made amapiano go mainstream and I am sure that articles must cite that so I'll keep looking but I need to know first if you think this is better or we should focus on Push 2 Start and Art. I'm just taking notes from other featured articles like I don't know her that are also similar as they deal with pop culture so please let me know if im doing anything wrong. This0k (talk) 16:53, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
Firstly, FAs are definitely not about "the biggest song", FA is about a very well-written article, see WP:FA criteria. You are right about "Water" tho, it has the potential of becoming a Featured Article, but there are still a lot of things to address first and adding a non-free screenshot won't help. Did you by any chance get the music video-screenshot idea from "Truth or Dare"? Because, that was my desperate move of expanding the article and getting it to GA, the screenshot does not really help with anything. For now, I can nominate "Water" for GA and without a doubt, it will pass. As for "Push 2 Start", I'll get it to GA after the South African concert + I'm lacking mobile data now so I can't really do anything. The album is a FA level article (currently GA), I'm also waiting for the concert before I can get it to FA. My only problem is "Art" since I can't ahold relevant references, but together we can get it to GA, then move on to the Tyla Tour, since she's not focusing on it, we have to redirect it to the album for the moment and preserve it's content. Once we are done with all of the above, we can nominate the entire album for Good topic. Let's do this mate! dxneo (talk) 19:26, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Charts

Hello I've undone several reversions you made to edits did to 'APT' and 'Die with a Smile'. I've been editing music articles for over 15 years and partly wrote the chart guidance at WP:RECORDCHARTS around which charts to use and when. Many reliable sources produce charts but it doesn't mean said chart is valid or accurate. The long established consensus is that the chart used should be the one which is nationally recognised in the country of origin. For example, in the US, the official chart provider is Billboard, and while alternative airplay charts are provided by mediabase, we only include the Billboard ones. Additionally Billboard launched a series of digital charts in 2023 called 'Hot Songs of the World', they include all the random country charts like Romania Songs (Billboard) and are based largely on streams and downloads. It was discussed at WP:RECORDCHARTS and determined that Billboard is primarily the US chart provider. In countries like Romania, it is not known in Romania for its charts and therefore their charts are not broadcast or used to judge popularity. This has been discussed before about including multiple charts for small countries, it becomes WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Additionally, for countries like Romania, Media Forest is long established. TopHit is not - therefore there's no value in including both. This is why you will find that the vast majority of articles do not include multiple charts for countries.

I know on the outset it seemed like a removed a lot of information - but please understand that I have a lot of experience in the field having taken numerous articles to good article status and even some to featured status. We do not include every single chart even if its published by reliable sources. It becomes unwieldy and WP:UNDUE. If you have any more questions, happy to discuss further with you but if you search the talk page of record charts, you will find the discussions on the topics listed above. Also please check the information at WP:RECORDCHARTS and especially WP:GOODCHARTS. >> Lil-unique1 (talk)22:59, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Well, I did not mean to offend you in any way. My sincere apologies. dxneo (talk) 23:10, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Don't worry - you haven't.
It's just a topic I know a lot about as one of the editors who picked through the mess of the arrival of digital charts about 15 years ago. Apology wasn't required but appreciate the sentiment. Keep up the good work :) >> Lil-unique1 (talk)23:12, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
