Request revision deletion
Hi. I would like to request revision deletion of Special:Diff/1000938838 (addition), Special:Diff/1000953501 (removal), and any intermediate revisions between the two revisions that may contain the offensive material per RD2. – Ase1estet@lkc0ntribs 15:15, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Aseleste, could you ask another admin? I haven't done complicated revision deletion before. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:34, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
what did sporkbot do...?
sporkbot changed something on my user page that i am confused what the point of was. I just copy pasted it from a user's talk page that was temporarily blocked that someone put on there, so if they did something wrong i'm sorry. link to edit is here [[1]]
thanks, Firestar9990 (talk) 03:11, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Firestar9990, the bot replaced Template:border-radius (which was deleted) with the equivalent inline CSS string. There is nothing to be concerned about. The border-radius template had been used on several thousand pages, but it was decided that it was no longer needed since typing "border-radius: 40px;" is easier than typing "{{border-radius|40px}}". Problem with SporkBot Bot Task 8
For the cleanup of Template:Infobox mountain, I was spot-checking the results of the bot, and found an unusual case at White Mountains (New Hampshire).
The previous version of the article had |region=New England
and |region1=
. The bot added |subdivision2_type=Regions
. I think the bot should not have added |subdivision2_type=Regions
because region1
was empty. Does the code check for the parameter name and not whether the value is non-blank? That might be what is going on.
Thanks for your help! — hike395 (talk) 05:57, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- hike395, thanks for spotting the problem! I created Category:Pages using infobox mountain with potentially incorrectly plural labels to find/fix any other bad edits (it will take some time to fill up the tracking category). You are correct, that it was incorrectly matching empty parameters when doing the logic for the labels, but it looks like it is doing the right thing for the enumeration part. I will fix the code before running it on any more articles. Thanks again! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 17:27, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding the code for the tracking category! Would you like me to fix the infoboxes in that category? I don't know whether you need those examples to fix your code. — hike395 (talk) 17:58, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- hike395, you can go ahead and fix them if you want (I saved a list of one from each subcategory). Many are "false positives" where the label is plural but there is no data content. I can tweak the tracking to filter those out, but in some cases you may want to remove the label. The bot is currently slowly silently purging all transclusions of the infobox, so the tracking category should be filled in about 12 hours. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:28, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding the code for the tracking category! Would you like me to fix the infoboxes in that category? I don't know whether you need those examples to fix your code. — hike395 (talk) 17:58, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
To let you know, there was a data loss on Karakoram (which I've now fixed). It looks like your code assumes that parameters would be invoked in order, but on the old version of Karakoram, region (etc.) were non-contiguous. — hike395 (talk) 21:17, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Another example of data loss due to out-of-order parameters: [2] — hike395 (talk) 21:58, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- hike395, that's bad! Thank you for finding it! There was a problem in how I was marking where to place the merged parameters which caused it to remove the merge point before the list was placed. So, it had no where to place the merged list and didn't report an error. I have fixed the code. I plan to review all the bots edits [3][4][5] and compiling a list of all bad edits for further code testing before running the bot again. Thank you again! - I know fully automated bots are very difficult to get 100% right --- editors do all sorts of odd things that are quite hard to anticipate. Thanks again for all of your efforts on this Task!! — hike395 (talk) 19:56, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for translation - article is now live
Hello - just to let you know that the article is now in Climate change in Brazil so translations can be put in there rather than in my sandbox. If you have time I am sure you would be able to improve the article a lot, as I think the Portuguese one it is linked to is rather out of date. Also you might like to nominate it for DYK if you have an idea for a good hook. Chidgk1 (talk) 06:13, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

This is the 2nd time you helped edit my translations-[Long-term effects of alcohol consumption] and [Single-payer healthcare] especially in the part of references.(I recognized you'd helped some other time) I'm a retired person, used to work in the financial field, what you've done, to me, is sort of mysterious, but I can guess the modifications brought the dead reference to live. Maybe you can help enlighten me. Thanks. p.s. I've got another 76 translations waiting for me to edit, I started translating the healthcare and medicine related topics in March of 2020. Draft:Impel News
Hi Plastikspork. I just blocked Sakwas and Dorcas007 as sockpuppets of Lagatinofficial per WP:DUCK. They have all created several now-deleted pages for Draft:Impel News. I was going to delete this under G5, but noticed it was once deleted by another admin and then restored by you. It should be re-deleted, but to avoid running afoul of WP:WW, I first wanted to bring this to your attention. Am I okay to proceed? ƏXPLICIT 13:09, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- Explicit, yes, please go ahead. It looks like I moved "Template:Impel News" to "Draft:Impel News" as being a draft in the wrong namespace (didn't know about the sock situation). Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:21, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello Plastikspork,
I hope you are safe and healthy at this critical time. You kindly edited the draft on 3 December 2020 and it was not yet mentioned in sources. The draft now is registered in "Maroof" E-platform, by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Commerce. "Maroof" in Arabic language means 'famous', 'well-known', and to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Commerce, BENA registered with "Marouf" E-platform means 'authentic' and 'reliably sourced'. I have reviewed and sent a request to publish changes. Kindly facilitate concluding the review and publishing the article. Eseelalsammarraie (talk) 09:15, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

State of Task 8?
Hi, Plastikspork. I notice that the bot just finished cleaning out Category:Pages using infobox mountain with multiple parameters. I've lost track --- what's the current state of the task? Recall that I found some data loss issues: did you ever check those? — hike395 (talk) 20:07, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Hike395: The 7 pages from today were all done in supervised mode with no data loss. As far as I can tell, before I fixed bugs in the code, data loss occurred when there were multiple parameters and those parameters were not in order. I am keeping a list of all the known problem cases so I can retest the bot on those pages to confirm that any bugs have been fixed. I still have to review about 650 edits from last month. Once I have checked all of those, I plan to restart the task. I will let you know before I restart the bot in any kind of unsupervised mode. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 23:03, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to say that there was more data loss, sorry. I just saw that the "multiple parameters" category was empty, so can we get rid of the corresponding parameters? Or were you planning to revert or test the bot and still needed those parameters around? — hike395 (talk) 00:14, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

- @Holloman123:: If you look at the code there, you will see that each set is numbered, starting from 1 to 5. If you want to insert a set, you need to renumber the ones below it. You will know if you got it right if (a) you didn't erase the ones below, and (b) when you use "show preview" you don't see any errors at the top of the page. "Script assisted wikification"
Hello, I wanted to ask about your "script assisted wikification" that changed settlement infobox population density field value for municipalities and towns of Latvia from settlement where I had put density to be calculated from land area not total area. Is there any hope that it would be changed in future to calculating density per land area as it is also recommended approach by Eurostat (see https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/databrowser/view/tps00003/default/table?lang=en)? What is the policy of calculating population density outside EU for example in the USA? - Liinisx (talk) 13:09, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Liinisx, USGS uses total area. The last thread that I know about this was here where it was basically decided that we should allow auto calculation using land area instead of total area. We really should let the infobox do the calculation if possible. I will start a new thread at Template talk:Infobox settlement. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 13:50, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

This is a very useful and frequently used template on Wiktionary (along with "oppose" and "abstain", for conducting user polls to help reach consensus on page changes), and would be good to have here on Wikipedia as well. Nicole Sharp (talk) 17:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC) - Never mind; I found it: "

It looks like it was revoted on again with the same negative consensus as recently as January 2021:https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?oldid=1004254952#RfC:_Should_we_have_Support/Oppose/etc._survey_convenience_templates?

Hi Plastikspork,
Could you please have a look at https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_country_names_in_various_languages_(Q%E2%80%93Z) I saw you fixed this page before, but somehow 5 countries are not showing: Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia and Somaliland. Template:Charmap/pstp
Hi Plasticspork, I'm not convinced creating this template was necessary. Unless there is something terribly wrong with Module:Charmap it will never be used. If there were something terribly wrong with Module:Charmap then anyone reverting my edits could have just recreated the original Pstp at the same time. I will probably nominate all the subtemplates for G6 deletion once the module is definitely finished and working. I'm not asking for it to be deleted now, just letting you know that you could have saved yourself some time! User:GKFXtalk 20:56, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Question
Hi, what did your edit to Bugchasing do? Just so I understand for my future editing. It looks the same as before. Urve (talk) 16:18, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Urve: It's really dumb, but related to this edit. The bot takes the first line of the wikitext of the article and uses it for the summary. If there is a template that is split over more than one line, it only takes to opening part, which is then matched with the next closing braces (assuming there are no more opening braces between). In this case there was a combination of an unclosed pair of braces from the bugchasing article and a pair of unopened braces in the Permanent income hypothesis article. These were then being "matched" by the software, causing everything that was in between to be swallowed in the bot report. I probably could have just fixed the Permanent income hypothesis article, but by changing both the rendering looks much nicer. Note that as far as bugchasing goes, this was just a problem with User:SDZeroBot/GAN sorting and not a problem with the article. I hope that makes sense. Thanks! Your close
While I accept your close of Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2021 June 13#OHL Templates because of wrong venue (even if WP:NOTBURO was written for this exact reason), the reason is completely wrong. There was not a "no-consensus" here (2v1 for delete), unless you count your close as a vote. Since this is also reflected in Template talk:2019-20 OHL standings (and the other 2) it makes it seem as there really was a no consensus result here, when in reality, if it wouldn't have been merged in the article out-of-process, it would have been subst and deleted as a single use template. I would appreciate if you could edit the close and notices to represent the actual reason. Gonnym (talk) 22:01, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

A couple of fellow users have made this request of my script, but I don't feel competent to make the change. Can you help make the change for me? Regards, -- Ohc revolution of our times 21:40, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- User:Ohconfucius, the best option is probably to go ahead and insert it at the top of the page, and then swap the order with any "short description" template. So, between lines 791 and 792 (or somewhere else after 791?) you could add something like which should cover the case where "short description" is already at the very top of the page. If you want to cover cases where short description isn't at the very top of the page, we could probably figure something out, but it would require more testing. Thanks! TfD close
Hi Plastikspork! Looking at this TfD, it seems to be an instance where there was some confusion about TfD standing for "Templates for Discussion"—I was expecting !voters to read my nomination and support/oppose turning it into a talk banner, not !vote keep/delete, often without even giving their opinion on conversion to a talk page banner. Could you give some more detail in your close on how you evaluated the discussion and whether any consensus was achieved regarding my proposal to convert the format? {{u|Sdkb}} talk 18:45, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

You protected this redirect in 2009 for vandalism. There has not been disruption to the redirect, is it possible to consider unprotection? Thanks in advance, Sennecaster (Chat) 03:51, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- User:Sennecaster, the page had to be speedy deleted three times due to vandalism. It's not clear if the semi-protection is the reason why it hasn't been vandalized, or if there is no longer any interested in vandalizing the page. I could consider unprotecting it. Is there is a particular reason for unprotecting it right now? Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 13:08, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Thank you
Hello, Plastikspork,
Thank you for helping sort out this Finland municipality template mix-up. I don't work much with template deletion because of the complications that exist with transclusions but I assume that if they are tagged for CSD speedy deletion, those complications have all been sorted out and the deletion is just a formality. At least, that assumption has worked out for me in the past.
But apparently, these templates were tagged prematurely and on my talk page I was asked to restore them. I see that you have looked over some that were restored and re-deleted them so I'm grateful that you are more familiar with templates than I and could assess whether they were serving a purpose or could be deleted. I have restored the remainder which you'll be able to see in the Deletion log and I hope that you and Jonesey95 can determine whether they should be redirected or deleted. Thanks for helping me with this mess. This is why I don't wander into TFD! Liz Read! Talk! 22:27, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Elizabeth Woodvilles page, under literature
Hi just a quick question, do you know why she’s listed as being “melodramatic and self-pitying” in the description of Richard iii? Without context for the scene it does seem like it, but Richard has basically killed everyone she loves, and is manipulating and blackmailing her into letting him marry her daughter, who she knows he’ll probably end up killing as well. She lost her very young sons, her father, her husband, and closest companions. I think she’s allowed to be a LITTLE dramatic. Deletion of Template:Translink (BC) color
The deletion of this template leaves me unable to find any reference to the correct TransLink (BC) line colors either on Wikipedia or externally. I am particularly confused by the deletion log (1.16), which appears to suggest that the content of five templates specific to TransLink (BC) are replaced by this more general template. However, the new template has no reference to the information previously accessible here, in particular hex colors for the TransLink-run transit lines in the Vancouver, BC area. Similar problems may exist for the other four templates affected by the deletion, however I am only familiar with the content in the specific template I've addressed here.
Forgive me if I'm missing something as I'm very new to how Wikipedia maintenance works, but if this information is still on Wikipedia, either in article or template form, could you provide a link to its location?

- @Johnruby: There are several ways of finding how many edits an editor has done. Here is one of them: if you follow this link you will find, amongst other information, that you have made a total of eight edits which are still live, and four which have been deleted. Four of those twelve edits have been made since Redrose64 posted the message above, at which time eight was indeed the correct total. However, the number of edits isn't really the point. The point is that you have never made any contribution whatever to work for the encyclopaedia, and have only used Wikipedia to host a personal page. JBW (talk) 09:37, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

It has come to my notice that you have reversed a batch of my amendments to this article. Whatever your reasons for doing this I cannot believe that as an administrator you can find it appropriate to reverse out well intentioned good faith edits to improve the validity of an article and replace them with the obvious previous errors and omissions. If a non-administrator contributor did this it would rightly be considered malicious vandalism. TfD subpages
Hey, this is genuinely out of curiosity, but I notice you and Explicit have been deleting TFD subpages (mainly mine, which is why I noticed) and moving their content back into the primary log page; what's the thinking/reasoning behind it? I have no particular issue with doing so, just... inquiring minds etc. (please ping on reply) Primefac (talk) 08:27, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- Primefac, thanks for asking! As you know, the main reason for creating subpages is to reduce the WP:PEIS while the page is being transcluded on the main WP:TFD page. Once it's time to close the discussions, the automated closing tools work best if the list of templates is in the section being closed. So, the idea is to move them back before closing to allow the automated tools work better. Once they are all moved back, there is no reason to keep the subpage. Also, each of the {{tfd links}} transclusions generates an anchor, which is helpful when referencing a particular template on the discussion page. Let me know if you see any problem with this approach. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:33, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

Deletion Review Template:Federal subjects of Russia image map
It was flagged as "Unused maps and not needed anywhere" by WikiCleanerMan but indeed it was an useful clickable interactive map, and I wanted to restore it in its original place on this page https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Federal_subjects_of_Russia , thank you. GFD (talk) 04:14, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- GFD, I think I see what happened. On January 1, 2019, labeled image map using File:Federal subjects of Russia (by number).png as a background was replaced by which used the now deleted Template:Subdivision OSM map. So, one question would be which version do you want restored? If you want the first version, then that would require undeleting the versions before the change on January 1, 2019. If you want the second version, that would require undeleting Template:Subdivision OSM map. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:54, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
{{Subdivision OSM map|subdivision_type_qid = Q43263|frame-align = center|plain = |text = |frame-lat = 66|frame-long = 105|frame-width = 960|frame-height = 500|zoom = 3}}
- Plastikspork Thanks for the quick and kind answer! I would like to restore the second version, the one with OpenStreetMap. GFD (talk) 21:00, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- GFD, I have restored it. Please put it to use soon. If it becomes orphaned again, it will probably be re-deleted. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 01:02, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for deleting Template:Elephant per my !vote. Now, I only have one question, did you speedy delete it as G7, or under a different CSD? Thanks. — 3PPYB6 — TALK — CONTRIBS — 19:03, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @3PPYB6: It wasn't G7, or any other CSD criterion. It was deleted as a direct result of Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 February 11#Template:Elephant, as may be seen by clicking the redlink. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:07, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

Deletion review for Template:Hong Kong
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Template:Hong Kong. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review.
(Note: the template was deleted on the ground that it was inappropriate for country navbox template to be named as such due to possibility to confuse with country flag template, however Hong Kong is not just an entity with its own government, but is also a city, and it is extraordinarily common for city navbox templates to be simply named as Template:City Name, which the original deletion discussion did not consider this duality, hence I am requesting for review of this deletion decision.) Mid-American Conference standings
Why were all of the Mid-American Conference standings templates deleted? I cannot find any history on the or any reason other than unused? Were they complete? If so can they be recovered. Question about -very- old TfD
Hey, I know this is from 2014(!) but do you maybe remember why you moved the template instead of deleting it? Gonnym (talk) 15:03, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
- Gonnym, I have no idea. I can certainly delete it if desired. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:17, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, please as now the rest of the set at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 February 14#Template:RxCOTWnom was deleted. Gonnym (talk) 08:41, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
This was created with a specfic function in mind. To warn about sites that required age checks to view certain types of content.
Since it was created, some sites now do apply age checks to specifc content, as a result either of EU directives or proposed law changes in the UK, in order protect vulnerable younger users from seeing material that's not intended for them.
YouTube for example, age checks on some videos even if the videos themselves are not what would be conventionally considered explicit. (One example I encountered as a video demonstrating why UK mains voltage was dangerous under controlled lab condtions!)
Therefore I am asking if you could perhaps consider reinstating this template and the documentation under a typo corrected name.
ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:28, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- ShakespeareFan00, I have restored the template with the typo corrected. There was no documentation page. Make sure you put the template to use fairly quickly or it will probably be deleted again. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:00, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- ShakespeareFan00, Template:Age verification required is still unused? If it isn't going to be used, it should probably be deleted. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:45, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- It's still unused, as the UK legislation that would have required sites in the UK to age check, is still in the process of being debated. I have no objections to a 'soft delete' until it's actually going to see use (provided a suitable comment is left in the logs). However I reserve the right to request another review if and when sites do start checking ages, and when sources cited on Wikipedia become subject to viewer age checks. Doc subpage TfD
Hi and thank you for closing Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 February 18#Template:Indo-Aryan languages/doc. I'm a bit surprised by the result though. Would you mind elaborating your rationale? I gave what I believe to be cogent reasons why the proposal won't bring benefits, and I listed several of the practical costs. I don't believe these were substantially addressed by the other participants, and the overall impression I get out of it all is that the loud statement of personal preference has trumped a pragmatic examination of the actual costs and benefits. – Uanfala (talk) 01:24, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Sure, I read the arguments for and against deleting the /doc page and found the reasons for keeping the doc page (e.g., the ability to separate page protections) to be as strong as the reasons for deleting the doc page (e.g., simplicity). Having an untranscluded /doc page was viewed as the worst solution, since it would be confusing with no benefit. If you would like more people to look at the situation, or have the practice of having separate /doc pages for unprotected templates examined, I don't think that TfD is the best forum for making larger scoped decisions. These days, most of the discussions at TfD start with people combing through the list of untranscluded templates and nominating them for deletion (or putting them to use). If you would like to send this to DRV, I won't be offended. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:09, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

Query
Hello, Plastikspork,
Since I see you as the TFD Guru, I have a question for you! I did some editing on template pages that are redirects to other template pages that have no incoming links and could probably be deleted. Do I nominate them at WP:TFD or at WP:RFD? TFD has the participants who have expertise in template use and are familiar with these kinds of pages but these pages are technically redirects. Thanks for any insight you can offer! Liz Read! Talk! 01:50, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

It's on my personal page and is supposed to be draft only so the only person that it bothers is me. If the bot put a note that it needs to be changed that's fine, but it just deletes it and with it my working marks. Skullcinema (talk) 08:15, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- Skullcinema, can you please use a valid template like {{Expand section}} instead? Per WP:REDNOT, nonexistent templates should not be transcluded anywhere. It is not true that the only person bothered by transclusions of deleted templates is you; Wikipedia:Database reports/Transclusions of non-existent templates is patrolled daily by multiple editors looking for errors, and intentional transclusions of nonexistent templates make that work harder. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:55, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- Jonesey95, actually WP:REDNOT refers to articles, it is an overextrapolation to claim that it applies everywhere; this is a working draft on a personal page. As for editors looking for something to improve, there is plenty to be done in the main namespace without anyone needing to get involved in editing draft articles, user talk pages, etc. As I have worked through WP's catalogue of malformed {{Cite patent}} transclusions (including using your page [9] - thank you for setting this up) it never occurred to me to go into other user's pages to edit them. Given that, I can't see why you would think that other editors would be unduly concerned. Skullcinema (talk) 15:48, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Editing the fields that define the "Personal details" in the infobox officeholder Template
I noticed that many years ago you were able to edit the spouse field to become spouse(s). Please could you explain how this was done. I am trying to translate corresponding fields in a Northern Sotho wikipedia but I am unable to find the definitions of the fields that appear in the Personal details section of the infobox. These would include "Born", "Political Party", "Spouse(s)", "Children", "Parents", "Alma mater" and "Website". Thanking you for your help, Phillip (talk) 15:51, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
- Phillip, some templates do allow for you to use either
|spouse=
or|spouses=
and the infobox then adjusts the label. For example, see Template:Infobox character. In most templates, like {{Infobox person}} and {{Infobox officeholder}} the label is always Spouse(s). I don't know if this answers your question. You can always look at the code for {{Infobox officeholder}} by opening it up in edit mode. The personal details are near the bottom of the template. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 22:34, 23 May 2022 (UTC)- Thank you so much. I had not noticed the field labels near the bottom of the template. Premature deletion closure
You recently closed a discussion at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 July 26#Chess variant boards and deleted all of the chess variants. Your closure said "These have been merged with Module:Chessboard", but in fact only one of the seven - Hia Shatar - had been successfully merged into that module, and there had been no further progression in the discussion from the relisting on any of the other template/modules. It would be good of you to undelete the six that haven't progressed so that the process that resolved Hia Shatar can continue on the rest of them. VanIsaac, MPLL contWpWS 19:24, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- User:Vanisaac, checking Special:PrefixIndex/Module:Chessboard shows more than Hia Shatar. Two of the unused merged modules were deleted here. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 16:24, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- Ooh, that changes things. Only Hia Shatar actually got mentioned at the actual TfD discussion, so I was concerned. You might want to add in your closure that the others also had gotten implemented with module:chessboard. But thanks so much for the update on that - I didn't want that utility to just get lost before we found the right way to implement them. VanIsaac, MPLL contWpWS 19:06, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- The closing statement says
These have been merged with Module:Chessboard, please feel free to renominate the merged submodules if you still think they should be deleted.
Seems pretty clear to me that more than one has been merged, or I would have said "this" and "submodule". Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 22:54, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Axe grinding
Hiya I'm in a weird slow edit war with Levithe gd at Squatting in Zimbabwe, where they are deleting referenced info and not engaging on the talkpage. Checking their edits they seem to have an axe or perhaps multiple axes to grind, and over at Sena language they have replaced the article with a strange genetic history. I see you protected the page back in August, but they've done it again since. What's a good move forwards? Could you perhaps article ban Levithe gd from editing those two pages, if you think that's a good idea? It's not particularly urgent, it's just a bit frustrating to deal with an editor who doesn't want to collaborate. Cheers! Mujinga (talk) 10:59, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- Mujinga for disputes between only two editors, you can request a WP:3O. For edit warring, you can post at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring, but if you are engaged in the same reverting pattern, you could be blocked as well. Article bans are typically discussed at WP:ANI, which can also have a boomerang outcome, where you get article banned as well. So, I would suggest starting with WP:3O and see if that helps. After that, I would try posting on the talk pages of the various Wikiprojects associated with the articles. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 21:59, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- Wow, what a bizarre answer to suggest 3O with an editor who doesn't respond and whose edits you already termed "persistent disruptive editing". Thanks for the laugh though and happy editing. Mujinga (talk) 17:11, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- I see, you were really just asking for a block outside of the normal process. Good luck with that. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 17:15, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- Nope I was asking you to take an interest in a page which you had already protected which is still being vandalised. See Talk:Sena_language#This_article_needs_drastic_replacement. But I get it, you're very busy Mujinga (talk) 17:18, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- All of my advice still stands, no matter how funny you think it is. Getting a topic ban from ANI is a process, and the first step is showing that you are trying other avenues. Trying to quickly without seeking opinions through 3O and Wikiproject pages usually results in a boomerang. But, I am sure you already know this, which is why you have already posted at WP:WikiProject Languages and WP:WikiProject Africa and contacted User:Harsimaja directly. Is increasing WP:MASSMOVE beyond 100 at a time feasible?
In this discussion, we are in talks about moving 1600+ pages. Can the code, provided for page movers and admins, be increased so it moves more than 100 pages with one click, without redirects? Qwerty284651 (talk) 22:25, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

Another bug: shared text on the 3 Lord of the Rings articles
Plastikspork, since this edit on FotR, and the matching edits on TT and RotK, the 3 articles that make up The Lord of the Rings, we've had constant trouble with whitespace. Specifically, an extra blank line appears at the end of the "template section", i.e. the bit that is shared with the main The Lord of the Rings article. It seems that whenever someone makes any edit to the text that is shared, a blank line magically appears, and it's rather hard to delete again, one has to edit the whole article to remove it; and as soon as someone makes another edit, the white space reappears. Can you find a way to do the sharing without this "feature"? The way I had arranged it with a template worked correctly, by the way, but apparently that offended The Powers That Be (tremble, shudder, cower, grovel). Help appreciated. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Hi Plastikspork,
I believe think the edit protection of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a bit of an overreaction. Looking at the history, I think it's fairly stable without any persistent disruptive editing. I myself reverted a couple of revisions, but those edits were done in good faith. The one blatant vandalism edit you reverted was the first of that nature since August. Query
Hello, Plastikspork,
Since you do so much work at TFD, I thought I'd ask your opinion on a template issue. 罗放 registered their account some time ago but has become recently active, creating templates having to do with the war in Ukraine. This seems like an unusual activity for a new editor so I was hoping you could check out their contributions and see whether these templates that will be useful or not. Thanks and I hope you have a happy and healthy 2023! Liz Read! Talk! 01:37, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- These don't look entirely un-useful, but very few transclusions. Many are still unused, which may lead to discussion at WP:TFD since there are many editors who patrol the unused template list. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 12:41, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Liz: these templates are intended to be use in pages describing the battles and soldiers participated in the current war. However most of the pages needs extended confirmed user to edit and I haven't got that privilege yet. 罗放 (talk) 16:23, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Instead of reverting the IP's edits with the inaccurate edit summary "Format", it would have been more constructive to tag them as unsourced (or find the sources) and to fix the broken ArtUK template. Please take care to support constructive newbie editors rather than reverting them with no explanation. Her name does indeed appear to be Chloë, with the diacritical, so I have moved the page. Removing redlinks after deletions
Hi, I noticed that you closed this RfD, but did not remove incoming links from other templates. This is best practice for most deletions. I have removed the links in this case.[10]
Forgive me if you normally do this part of the task but overlooked it on this occasion. Otherwise, I hope this is a useful pointer. Best wishes – Fayenatic London 17:10, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- I do normally do this, but unfortunately {{tfd links}} only provides links to transclusions, so it requires several extra clicks to check. The automated TfD closer also doesn't warn you if there are a lot of links. But, it would be difficult to automate the process due to links in various "del sort" templates. Thanks! - PseudoNova, I believe you are asking about Mahassen Fattouh? That was my fault. I didn't see the full name in the first sentence. Sorry about that. As far as I know, there is no official policy on which name should be at the top of the infobox, but typically it's the name by which the subject is commonly known, which is typically the same as the article name. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:38, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Gotcha thank you! PseudoNova (talk) 18:33, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
deleted pages (Template:PVL)
Hello, This is regarding the deleted templates of the PVL, there are now empty sections in which the deleted templates were connected. Please try to restore the contents/information of the templates it represented in all of the articles that are affected. Thank you. Rick (talk) 10:34, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Rickt11: Could you be more specific? I checked all the templates in the February 9 discussion and none of them are linked in any articles or other templates. I checked the Template:PVL referenced in the section heading, and neither of the redlinks every existed in any articles. As far as the contents of the templates are concerned, it looks like that was merged with the articles in edits like these: [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] ... by Frietjes. If you notice the section tags, those are for WP:LST which allows those sections to be used in other articles like 2017 Premier Volleyball League season (search for the #lst: in the source). Does this answer your question? Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:12, 19 February 2023 (UTC)

Reverted
Hi,I do not know the difference between reverted or removed or deleted. All of those remove edits. I am trying to place a correct word definition on Wiktionary and cite it. How can one do that politely without stepping hard on other editors and being "reverted" by someone. Thank you valjean1969 ida1925 the reason I have two is because I forgot the password of ida1925 and did not know how to go about finding it. I asked if it can be combined. thank you again. Edit - 14:04, 25 March 2023 Plastikspork (Rollback)
Hi Plastikspork, just contacting you about the changes to edits made on the 25th March.
1 - The credit Love & Marriage (contributor 2001) ref 7 was removed. The writer wasn't writing in 2001. If you check the reference given you'll see the writer wasn't a contributor to this.
2 - Messiah, I added a co-writer's name and dates 2019/ 2020. The play was produced then. This can be checked with the three references below which are all dated.

3 - The Women's Prize for Playwriting was added. Proof of finalists can be confirmed by 3 sources below.

Is it okay to revert back to the changes that were made? 89.242.89.31 (talk) 19:49, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- The problem is that your edits broke the other citations on the page. I have no problem with you making changes, but you should make sure you don't break the other citations by splicing text in the middle of the citation templates. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:14, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
Edit to my user page
What exactly did you do on my user page. The edit comment says "Remove page from Special:WantedTemplates" could you just explain what that means because I honestly have no clue. Batgirl-Awsomeness (talk) 10:01, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Batgirl-Awsomeness: Once a month the Special:WantedTemplates page is regenerated by the server. It lists all missing templates that are being transcluded. Your page was transcluding Template:Country data ntl_team, Template:Country data ntl team2, and Template:Country data ntl team3. By changing the
ntl_team
to{ntl_team}
this fixed the transclusion on your page because curly braces aren't allowed in template names. Demonstration templates like Template:Parameter names example uses curly braces for this reason. I hope this answers your question and sorry for the short edit summary. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:01, 19 April 2023 (UTC)- Oh, well thanks for fixing it. I've been taking the already in-use sports player infobox templates, filling all the fields/parameters, and putting it side by side with a table that I'm making to mock up a potential updated version of the templates with the goal of then proposing them to a template editor who will take those tables and update the infobox template accordingly. The result will be a more streaamlined and better overall infobox for players. Because currently all the inboxes don't have all the necessary fields and don't fully capture the player. Just a little side project I'm working on. Thanks again for fixing the fields and I will now make the fields on the current templates on my page to have curly brackets. Pharaoh Infobox
Dear Plastikspork I am writing you concerning Template:Infobox_pharaoh, which you have edited, to get your help on a long running issue with the infobox used in pharaoh articles. There was a community discussion in the Ancient Egypt project then a discussion at the village pump, see here. This was about editing the [Show] button in pharaoh infoboxes. After the discussion it was decided that the [Show] button could be replaced by [Click to show] button, or be written in bold or be put to the left to help readers see the button which is almost always missed and has led to people complaining that the info wasn't in the article or editing to put the info already there. Now in spite of the technical advises I was given, I don't see what to edit to change the template. Could you please help me by precisely telling me how to edit the code (and which code) to make the [Show] button appear as [Click to show] or be put in bold and/or left ?Iry-Hor (talk) 09:37, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- Iry-Hor, I believe the show/hide words are controlled by the text in MediaWiki:Collapsible-collapse and MediaWiki:Collapsible-expand, which cannot be changed without changing everywhere (navigation boxes). So, it's very unlikely to have that happen. However, it is possible to put it to the left. If you look in the source for the infobox you will see that {{Hidden}} is being used to collapse the content. If you add
|toggle=left
to that template it will move the showhide to the left. If you need help with other options, I would suggest contacting the people who commented at the Village Pump thread. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 04:21, 25 April 2023 (UTC)- Thank you !Iry-Hor (talk) 12:27, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Could you restore 2022 visit by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States and 2023 visit by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United Kingdom? Appreciate your edit on the misplaced dash (an artefact of going through the article using find-and-replace; I'd obviously clicked 'replace' when the machine wasn't where I thought it was), but "that was pretty dumb" seems a little uncivil when correcting somebody else's mistake. If I am unable to resolve the issue, I will inform you, and you can proceed with deleting it possible. However, I will persist in my efforts until this template is fixed.

Hello, Plastikspork,
I restored this page you deleted, at least temporarily. The other day, I deleted a lot of redirected talk pages that pointed to this target page (see here). Since these templates are being actively used and Template talk:WorldCat id contained some discussions, I think this talk page should be CSD G8-exempt. Or, we should find a new target talk page that these deleted talk pages can be redirected to. Since these are widely used templates and editors might have questions about their use, it seems like we should have one common talk page where they could go to post any questions they have. What do you think about retaining this talk page? Or can you think of an alternative WorldCat talk page that these broken and deleted template talk pages could point to? Thanks for any help you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 22:05, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: Thanks! I moved it to Template talk:WorldCat subject, but it looks like both Template:WorldCat subject and Template:WorldCat author may be deleted next for the same reason that Template:WorldCat id is being deleted. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 23:33, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

Requesting a closure review or update,if possible.
Hello! There have been discussions regarding challenging the closing statement of the merger discussion: Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2023 January 22#Template:Infobox aircraft begin
The outcome of the discussion was to merge to {{Infobox aircraft}}. However, the conclusion regarding the merger of {{Infobox aircraft engine}} was met with opposition from several editors on the talk page. This led to another discussion about whether to maintain Infobox aircraft engine as a standalone or not.
So in this matter: Is it possible to update the closing statement of the merger discussion or close the ongoing discussion? If not, could you please provide a formal comment on the current discussion and bring it to a conclusion? Thank you very much. Prarambh20 (talk) 16:06, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- I thought the closing summary was pretty clear, so I don't see any reason to update it. I fully expected that the discussion would continue elsewhere. It looks like the editors opposing are basically the same editors who opposed in the TfD. I think your best coarse of action is to continue the discussion and get as much input as possible. You could possibly start an RfC if you don't think you are getting enough input. If the ultimate consensus is to maintain a second "aircraft engine infobox", then that's what happens. My closing statement was based on my reading of the discussion at TfD. If more input is needed, then there are ways to solicit more feedback. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:12, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- All right! Thanks. Prarambh20 (talk) 05:54, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Alison Spittle additions removed
Hi plastikspork,
I can see you have just removed something I added to Alison Spittle's page because the citation was broken.
This is the first time I have ever edited anything on Wikipedia. I saw that my attempt to copy another citation on the pahasn'dn't worked, so I went away and tried to learn how to do a proper citation. By the time I came back you deleted it already.
Please can you be patient with me while I'm learning?
I am going to put it back up and try to put the citation in according to the tutorial I'm using. This might take me a little while but I will definitely make sure I give it a proper citation by the end of today.
Out of interest, how did my post come to your attention? Are you a fan of Alison's too?

- SusieNineToes, You can use "show preview" to make sure you aren't saving something that is broken. Your edit produced a broken citation, which is how I found your edit. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 16:39, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
