Need some help with the ZMAK page.
Hi there
I created a new page for the ZMAK wrestling promotion in Greece. I was away from 23/12-3/1 and I see it doesn't exist. Can I please have some feedback as to why so I can try and 'fix' some things? I see the reason as to "Unsourced newly founded wrestling promotion of no notability" but ZMAK is extremely popular at the moment in Greece, several international pro-wrestlers are asking to work for it and it is in major news websites for sports, lifestyle etc. eg Article from vice.com [1] or another credited site called mixanitoxronou. Shreepur, Sarlahi
The reason I reverted to a redirect was that the original article is at the Shripur spelling (which is claimed to be the correct transliteration), but Spramodyadav is insisting on Shreepur. (He is also very insistently trying to get an article about himself, with no apparent sign of notability.) If the Shreepur spelling is correct, the original article should be moved back to that spelling. Otherwise, we've got a copy and paste move by Spramodyadav and the original work concealed in a redirect. I take no stand on which spelling is correct. Peridon (talk) 12:04, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- Peridon Yes I was struggling with duplicate articles and probably have the correct one wrong. I have no opinion on which spelling is correct either.Peter Rehse (talk) 12:36, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'll look again tomorrow when I get home, but I would reckon Shripur would be the modern spelling. The double e for i is rather dated now, and the editor who did the first move did say he was using the proper transliteration. The other editor is a bit of a pain, and exhibits a few signs of not being really at home in English - and of not understanding what 'don't write about yourself' means (but that could just be IDHT...). I've having a hard time working up much enthusiasm for WP these days. Any thoughts on Devi Khajishvili? The page needs a reviewer and it seems more up your alley than mine. Papaursa (talk) 21:23, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- Papaursa He's on my list - was hoping someone else would chime in. I will let it lie for a little longer. And no worries about the enthusiasm - I seem to be going through the motions only these days.Peter Rehse (talk) 21:27, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
sorry
do you have a diff for that? I am not sure what you are referring to.. JarrahTree 13:14, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Very sorry about that, not sure how that happened - please accept my apology, have reverted myself JarrahTree 13:17, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- JarrahTree I figured it was something like that - just curious - thanks for fixing it.Peter Rehse (talk) 13:19, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
I am trying to work out why the version of firefox in my old imac seems to jump the window so often and I have almost given up making compensatory moves lest I do things exactly like that, and the proximity of the logout button on the top bar to contributions as it is configured is another issue... oh well, thanks for your understanding JarrahTree 13:24, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the review and correction
Hi. Thank you for fixing my categorizing into article space from two pages in my sandbox. I wasn't aware of the protocol for dealing with this and I appreciate the fix. I had also just tried a "move" of one of these sandbox pages which went awry. I think everything should be back to normal now. Kumboloi (talk) 18:01, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- Kumboloi No problem - if you need help with the move please let me know. Also if I remember correctly you have a replacement for a page that already exists. It is better to alter the existing page rather than a complete copy paste.Peter Rehse (talk) 18:04, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- I had actually done two moves PRehse. The first was to rename a stub in article space, and it seemed to go as expected. The second was an attempt to match the name of my sandbox page to the new name of the stub just moved, but I misunderstood the move options presented and the sandbox page wound up in article space. It has since been deleted. As for the cut-paste from my sandbox, that is what I was planning to do, but I just read somewhere else on Wikipedia that this was not recommended because it messes up the edit history. If you had looked at the sandbox articles you would have seen that they started as copies of the article space wikitext and are also my dumping-grounds for facts and references while I research the update. The idea of pasting a complete update appeals to me because it lets me put up a (somewhat) polished version and avoid the messy intermediate steps. Is there a better way to collect the information for an update other than a sandbox page or doing a series of partial edits on the existing article? Kumboloi (talk) 20:14, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- Kumboloi What I would do if it was a complete rewrite was to copy past parts (small sections) of your new version into the existing article. That way attribution of earlier forms is maintained in a more easily followed manner. Theoretically a copy paste of an entire article still maintains the attribution but it is a little gross and bound to raise ire. More simply put break the copy paste of the entire article into a series of three or four and everyone should be satisfied. Hope that helps.Peter Rehse (talk) 20:29, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks PRehse. What I believe you're suggesting is to continue to use the sandbox to collect the references and write the updated article, but to move it from my sandbox into the main article in a series of edits. That makes sense if I have understood you correctly. It allows me to still use the sandbox as I had been. The first edit could be to rearrange the subheadings to match what I would introduce later. I am new to editing Wikipedia, as you can tell, and am still learning the process. I have a question regarding uploading pictures that have been sent to me to Commons. Would you be able to answer that or should I take it to the Teahouse? Kumboloi (talk) 20:40, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- Kumboloi Teahouse - I don't understand picture uploading very well.Peter Rehse (talk) 20:53, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- Fair enough PRehse. Thanks again for your help. Kumboloi (talk) 20:55, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
New Page Review - newsletter No.2
- A HUGE backlog
We now have 804 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
- Second set of eyes
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
- Abuse
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
- this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
- this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
- This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.
Coordinator election
Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

How can I move this group of page (Glory 14: Zagreb - Glory 15: Istanbul - Glory 16: Denver - Glory 17: Los Angeles - Glory 18: Oklahoma) into one page 2014 in Glory? I want to group 2014 event pages into one page like this 2015 in Glory? Thanks KINGFEDORQc (talk) 18:01, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Wikipedia appears to be making hasty misjudgments. (a) this is not a page about a "club"; as it is clearly a "School" and a recognized School (P'ai) at that; Tested and Accepted by ICKF R. o. China 1985-1987. T'ien Ti Tao has been favourably featured in many British and American Martial arts magazines, newspaper articles and other media. It has been fully tested and accepted by a world-wide Chinese Arts regulator, the International Chinese Kuoshu Federation (Taiwan) through what was the British Kuoshu Promotion Association in UK, and accepted as "Genuine traditional Chinese Arts" by them. This makes both the school and the event unique to British based Chinese Arts schools as well as a notably Historic Event. These three factors alone make it a notably historic. This suggests that whomsoever is suggesting the page for deletion is not only ignorant of the facts, but that Wiki is contra to its "encyclopedic" claims of noting historic references!
Wiki processes are seemingly too complex, too judgmental and often by not knowledgeable (not of the field) or perhaps even bias people. Noted with interest is a proposed deletion of a page on Master Wong, Ark Yuey. He was a remarkable historical figure in the Chinese Arts. Living in San Fran Cisco, he taught only Chinese at first. During the 1930's some American/s wanted to learn his Arts. They could not understand the Chinese terms, like Ch'uan-shu, so he translated learning as "Kung Fu"; to learn by hard work. This was the founding of the expression which is even now commonly used in Mainland China.
Other areas where Wiki is contradictory are, for example, having a page on Mixed Martial Arts/MMA. There is no such thing as MMA, unless a practitioner has gained skills in more than one recognized Martial Art. To teach would require Teaching Qualifications in two or more known Martial Arts. But even then, s/he would be a practitioner of (e.g.) Shotokan Karate and Jiujutsu. Wiki in giving a page dedicated to MMA gives unqualified credence to unqualified people who claim to be MMA Teachers!
Furthermore, many Wiki pages are based upon promotion, falsehoods and fiction. The whole concept seems to be randomly defined by its randomly self-appointed (?) editors and many facts overlooked by simple lack or depth of knowledge and experience, personal translation of Wiki Rules, etc.
Loosing faith in Wiki!
Speedy deletion declined: Mark Godbeer
Hello PRehse. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mark Godbeer, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: An article that is almost half about 2015/16 events is unlikely to be "substantially identical to the deleted version" when the deletion was in 2014. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 17:21, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
Libraries Without Borders page
Hello,
I am an intern with Libraries Without Borders - I tried to edit the Libraries Without Borders page to be a separate page with more specific information to the US organization than the French one. My edits, however, were deleted. I believe this is a mistake.

I hope we can work together to settle the notability concerns in the coming weeks. As a new editor, there is a learning curve I'm contending with, but I believe I can eventually demonstrate that the sources are credible. Xaysetha District
Hi PRehse, you've reverted Xaysetha District saying Entries need at least one blue link - there was at least one blue link pointing to Saysetha District which alternatively is written Xaysetha. Btw: Lao name transliteration into English seem to be ambigous if starting with Xa* or Sa*. So could you please re-consider your revert? Regards --katpatuka (talk) 09:36, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

MOS:INDIA speedy nomination
Hey, umm ... I reverted you, but I don't fully understand your rationale. If a redirect has the "MOS:" prefix, is it in the article namespace? If so, why do MOS:ISLAM, MOS:CHINA, MOS:JAPAN, and so on all exist? Does one need community consensus to establish these as "official shortcuts" or something? I've been tinkering with the article about O-sensei for a bit now, and am just about ready to nominate it for FA - I need to do a bunch of work on the sources (since all the Encyclopedia of Aikido ones are now 404 errors...), but it's getting into shape. I wondered whether I could ask you to cast an eye over it when you have a bit of time, since I'm getting to the point where I'm too close to the text to be able to read it objectively. If you fancy a spot of proof-reading, I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions and input. Yunshui 雲水 11:21, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- Sure. I had seen your changes recently but one more time can't hurt.Peter Rehse (talk) 11:24, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- Yunshui You know it reads very well with the only thing I picked up on was that the Aikikai Honbu was not founded until 1931?. Maybe insert the adjective eventually. I hope the Encyclopedia of Aikido 404 errors won't cause issue.Peter Rehse (talk) 11:36, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- I'm slowly going through and replacing/relinking them as appropriate. I think it needs a bit more on Ueshiba's relationship with Takeda, and I'm considering a section called maybe "Ascribed feats" for all the bullet-dodging, tree-uprooting, teleporting, person-carrying etc. I'm a bit concerned that it's overly reliant on Kisshomaru's biography now, but it is a really good biography... and I'll take another look at the bit about the Aikikai, thanks. - Yunshui Ascribed feets would be difficult to include in a neutral way - I certainly did not miss them in what is there now. I have the feeling that if included no one would be happy with what is written. I think the Takeda Ueshiba dynamic is adequately covered. Most of what is missing is pretty much hearsay.Peter Rehse (talk) 11:47, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree, but since people like Kisshomaru and John Stevens are being used as sources quite extensively, and since both of them appear perfectly happy to accept things like the dodging-bullets-in-Manchuria story, it smacks a little of WP:OR to use their accounts of the more "plausible" events in his life without mentioning those that were more... legendary, shall we say? Personally I'd prefer to leave them out altogether (or maybe link to a List of superhuman feats ascribed to Morihei Ueshiba page), but there's a case to be made that it's an inaccurate representation of the sources to report only the obviously realistic stuff he did... Yunshui 雲水 11:59, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- Yunshui Speaking of dodging bullets - you could always rely on someone else adding them. The very use of the term legendary for instance introduces POV. I am just saying that if will be very difficult to include them in a way that won't make someone unhappy and in the end its a bio of Ueshiba not the legend.Peter Rehse (talk) 12:07, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- You're right, I guess such things are likely to end up in the article sooner or later... "anyone can edit", and all that. Yunshui 雲水 12:17, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Do you think she's notable as a martial artist? Focus seems to be on her art work illustrating MA, but I'm not seeing notability as an artist either. Aikido is your specialty, not mine, so I'm interested in your comments. Papaursa (talk) 01:09, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- Papaursa From a global perspective not really but personally I tend to give historical (i.e.. dead) martial arts figures a pass especially since the article is supported by references. Aikido wise pretty much the same - she trained with the founder and drew some pictures. However, Yunshui (the initial editor and aikido friendly administrator, see above) has a different opinion and I trust that.Peter Rehse (talk) 09:23, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- I was wondering about a redirect to Ueshiba's article since her own notability is questionable and anything of significance is tied to him. Just a thought, I have no strong opinions on this. Papaursa (talk) 17:36, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- She was pretty much the first female aikido teacher in an overwhelmingly masculine martial art, she was the subject of two articles in Aikido Journal, she's been covered in a few other sources (I've just added another one) - I'd say she was notable (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have created the article!). Her illustrations in Budo Renshu are of great importance in the aikido community (although granted, the world at large couldn't give two hoots) since they illustrate the art's first technical manual and also show the close relationship between aikido and Daito-ryu. I'll grant I haven't made much of the article - I've got other stuff to work on - but there's a decent amount of expansion that could be done using, e.g. the information in this interview. Jose Salamanca
Hi PRhese, there seems to be a bit of a problem with that redirect, plus I found a variety of technical problems when reverting, I was prevented from it I do not know why. First I was reverted without an explanation and citing "Talk" in the edit summary, but nothing to be found there. I noticed that the disambiguation page José Salamanca I created had an José Eliseo Salamanca talk page, totally out of place, but I was reverted. I should also excuse for some problems when writing on the edit summary, since I can hardly see its content. May I say, it is not very appropriate to own the name of the article for a tennis player from El Salvador few people know, as compared to the other José Salamanca, critical figure in finances and politics in the 19th century Spain. Hence I created the disambiguation page. So now the talk page of José (disambiguation) is still problematic. Help is appreciated. Thanks Iñaki LL (talk) 19:10, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi PRehse I created the disambiguation page as I was drafting the article for Rose Williams (Artist). - Theredproject No sweat - its a little thing that annoys me (OCD) - I usually leave an hour just in case the article is coming but there are just reams of non-blue linked entries out there with no idea of notability - and it is easy to revert once corrected.Peter Rehse (talk)
SONY MUSIC UK
Hi There
I hope you're well. I see you've recently reviewed my Sony Music UK page and that it is no longer live.
Sony Music UK is a completely different label from the main Sony label, therefore, I feel it needs it's own page. The label is one of the most successful labels in the world with hundreds of millions worth of sales across the roster.
There are similar pages for Sony Music Austrailia https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Sony_Music_Australia
And Sony Music Nashville https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Sony_Music_Nashville
Would you be able to let me know why this page has not been approved so that I can try and try again?

Notable fighters of Superkombat
Hi,
Can you please stop acting like you are alone on Wikipedia? Cătinaș was a finalist in K-1 twice, fighting in the Final 16 events. Kleibl was also a K-1 fighter. César Almeida, Cristian Spetcu and Marija Malenica are their champions, last two are actually first champions at some weight classes. Stauros Exakoustidis is that guy that defeated Spetcu, and is fighting now in China. Tarik Khbabez is the guy that won the Superkombat finals and defeated clearly Roman Kryklia. Mustapha Haida and Cedric Manhoef don't have pages but they are actually top 10 in their weight classes. Actually only Cedric still is, sixth in the world or so. Yousri Belgaroui will be top 10 in the world at some weight class soon, and made debut in GLORY. Setdany (talk) 15:04, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Setdany Most of those names were found to be Non-notable by AfD - and just putting in names (without any indication of notability) is just disruptive. Wikipedia is not supposed to be a fan site.Peter Rehse (talk) 15:08, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

- SetdanyDon't worry I won't edit war here - I will leave it be for awhile. I tend to clean up when a fighter gets deleted after AfD and then housekeep. So really you have two options; create article or add a good reference (not just regular fight result or youtube).Peter Rehse (talk) 15:15, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Setdany One other thing - if Mustapha Haida, Cedric Manhoef and Yousri Belgaroui were ranked top 10 by LiverKick or CombatPress at any time they should and could have their own article. That would be perfectly in line with WP:KICK.Peter Rehse (talk) 15:21, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will try to open pages for them. I previously opened for Manhoef when he was a Superkombat champion but it was deleted. Imagine all that work! Now he is sixth in the world. What do you think about kickboxers getting notability if they fight for the Superkombat championships? Setdany (talk) 15:24, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

- The point of all is that fighting for I.S.K.A / W.K.N / W.A.K.O. Pro titles is most of the times less notable than fighting for the Superkombat / Kunlun Fight championships. If you want you can also include Enfusion and other Chinese promotions. Setdany (talk) 17:00, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

CSD tagging
In the future, if you tag a page as WP:A10 for being a duplicate of another page, please look into the history to see if it has recently been converted from a redirect to that page, and restore that version if you can (e.g. [1]). Even if it wasn't previously a redirect, the very fact that the new page was created might mean that it's a valid search term and should be redirected to the page it duplicates. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. I was searching for martial arts articles that were tagged for notability and reference issues that hadn't been edited this year and came across this article. Once again I defer to you and Yunshui when it comes to aikido. If you believe he's notable then you may want to remove the notability tag from that article. I also created a list of articles in my sandbox that met the criteria I just mentioned and that seemed of questionable notability to me when I took a quick look at them. I wouldn't mind your comments on them. Papaursa (talk) 22:59, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- I've not heard of him, but he seems to have been a moderately important figure in American aikido. I've added a handful of additional references to the article, but it still needs some cleanup. Yunshui 雲水 08:27, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- PapaursaYunshui Well I have heard of him but like all martial art profiles I tend to be ambiguous. Stuck between my bias toward aikido people and what is really notable in the global sense. Generally your list is fine and some of those should be pushed to AfD. At least one of them is on my own list of soon to be challenged.Peter Rehse (talk) 09:03, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
Greetings and Question
Sorry to bother, but I have noticed you have done a great deal of editing on martial arts topics including one I have infested frequently. I have a question on the Importance/Notoriety of individual practitioners.
Specifically, looking for a reference/avoiding work I wandered to the Shorin-ryu page. I noticed some grammar problems, but I also noticed a list of high-ranking practitioners. One of them does not seem to actually practice or practiced Shorin-ryu. He was also listed merely as "(Black Belt)." The others mainly seem to be "soke" of their own styles. I removed the first after some research and left a topic in the article's Talk page asking for references/correction. The others I did not remove but also invited references to their Shorin-ryu grades/standing.
"Did I Do Good?
What constitutes "important" in martial arts will generate a lot of flame certainly, particularly in a world where anyone can buy a "soke" and a "10 Degree Grand Master" from webpages! There are significant practitioners, however, but if they are not notable enough to merit their own linked page are they notable for Wiki? Take Chuck Norris. Whatever one thinks of him positive or negative he is known so including him as a notable figure in one of his martial arts pages certainly works. The problem I have is we can lists literal crap-tons [Citation needed.--Ed.] of practitioners in just the US who are maybe all Great and Wonderful People but outside of the realm of their school/organization really are not notable.
Sorry for the Long-Winded question; just want to avoid mistakes in the future/sore posteriors: "HOW CAN YOU REMOVE GRAND-MASTER ED GRUBERMAN!!!! HE RECEIVE A BOOT TO THE HEAD FROM MASTER!!!!!!11"
^^, TheDoctorX (talk) 20:53, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
TheDoctorX You did fine. Generally if the names are in text there is not much you can do but long lists of Notable people should have either their own page or a reference to a reliable source as per WP:LISTS. That's true in any type of article but something about martial arts seems to attract name cruft.Peter Rehse (talk) 07:45, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks so much! I will leave it "as is" for now. If no one responds to the Talk question on the other people after a month or so, I will research each individual to see if he is actually connected to Shorin-ryu in some verifiable fashion. TheDoctorX (talk) 07:54, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Erroneous CSD A7 talk page message?
Hello PRehse, I don't understand the WP:A7 you and another placed on my talk page to speedy delete the page Sierra Ventures. It's a redirect page. It has no CSD tag on it. It has no history of edits at all. It is not really planned for speedy deletion. It is a valid redirect, one of hundreds I have created over the years. Speedy deletion declined: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor
Hello PRehse. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A11 does not apply to articles based on rumors that can be obviously seen to exist in outside sources (UFC President has discussed it as well) This is however a strong case for WP:CRYSTAL. Hi,
Thanks for running ReFill for this article. As a hint, if you uncheck "Do not add access dates" and check "Use the base domain name as work when this information cannot be parsed", then the outcome comes closer to this version. Removal of ProdBLP notice
Hi,
You recently removed the Proposed Deletion of Biography of Living Persons (BLPPROD) notice from Masoud Minaei. BLPPROD notices are different to regular Proposed Deletion (Prod). Whilst anyone can remove a Prod nomination, BLPPROD notices may only be removed after one reliable source or reliable reference is added to the page. The only links on there are for his Instagram page (not considered a reliable third party source) and two references that don't even mention him. By all means remove the notice, but only after proper reliable sources have been added. Stephen! Coming... 07:01, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Question
I've been going back through some of the old articles that are shown in the NPP feed as needing review, such as Mr. Bean (character), which appears you recently reviewed. I've come across a couple like that so far today, but for some reason, they're still showing up in the feed as articles needing review. Is there a glitch in the curation tool that is failing to mark the article as reviewed, or are you using something else that I'm not seeing and should be? Atsme📞📧 15:45, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Atsme I did not mark Mr. Bean (character) as reviewed yet although I did put on some tags. When a previously reviewed article is converted to a Redirect or vice versa it is automatically marked as unreviewed. Perhaps that is what you are seeing.Peter Rehse (talk) 15:49, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Yep, that's it. So now we have a spin-off that includes 84.2% of the same information that's in the main article, Mr. Bean. It was moved with this edit. Your thoughts as to whether it should remain as is, or be merged with the main article would be very much appreciated. Atsme📞📧 16:51, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Isshin-ryu Article: Would Like Your Input
I would like your opinion/criticism/Wrath from Above on the Tatsuo Shimabuku history under History
I know I need to fix the Reference section ^^,
This is NOT a request to resolve a T3h DREADLY EDIT WAR!!11![!--Ed.] or other such conflict.
I and another editor Billyinthedarbies are politely trying to sort out references which disagree with one another--one denounces the other in fact! As you know, martial arts "scholarly references" are worth about as much as the paper they are vanity printed on! However, if you have actual evidence cited, I do not think that can be discounted with a simple wave of the hand. Nevertheless, I do not think anyone wants a Wiki article consisting of a combined summary of "He sucks!" "No, he sucks!" dueling references.
Perhaps just cut out most of the details, list the respective references, and let the reader do his own research. I tried to do that in my "combination" edit I just made, but before I go on, I figured I would ask for another pair of eyes with more experience.
One Other Thing the article critical of common histories of Isshin-ryu is listed as written by "Staff":
Classical Fighting Arts Staff (2012). "Isshin Ryu Karate: A Riddle Wrapped in an Enigma". Classical Fighting Arts. 2 (46): 52–59.
According to Billyinthedarbies and the competing reference he cites:
"Rebuttal to David Chambers' article about Tatsuo Shimabuku & Isshin-ryu Training | The Isshin-ryu School of Karate, Hackettstown, NJ". Retrieved 2017-04-24.
the author of the Classical Fighting Arts article is actually the Editor/Publisher David Chambers. This does not surprise me: he basically is the entire staff of the publication! Billyinthedarbies feels he should be identified as the author even thought the article lists "staff." I have no idea what is appropriate.
Thanks so much! TheDoctorX (talk) 06:54, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello, I have added a NPOV tag to the article in question. My questions actually concern 1) undue weight and 2) proportionality. The single, spurious article seems to derail the "History" subsection intended to be a bio of Tatsuo Shimabuku. Rather than contextualizing the non-mainstream point of view alongside other sources, the section language once again leads with it (after the subject's name and birth/death dates). The following information becomes a referendum on that single source's rather sensational allegations rather than a clear, balanced, and brief bio of Shimabuku. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Billyinthedarbies (talk) 19:19, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
_______
I am glad the other editor has added to this request for "another pair of eyes" as it were to look at the article. "Spurious" means quite an entirely different thing than I think he believes it to mean, and as a dismissal of one article, one could just as--unjustly--apply it to his source. Given this uncritical dismissal I must agree that it rather calls into question his neutrality, for the veracity of the history of a Founding Figure given by said figure and followers is, indeed, relevant to a section on the history of such a figure. Similarly, the veracity of a source is relevant to the value of the source.
Thus a "fresh pair of eyes." Please refer this to others. From my--utterly neutral, unspurious, but wholly cromulent--perspective I think it stands well enough as it is minus the grammar/taste tweaking. It acknowledges the controversy--which does exist--while also acknowledging different sources. Readers may evaluate both critically.

China's Response to the West (book) Red Links?
Thanks for your quick work on China's Response to the West (book). But I’m not clear why we should cut the red links, and there was no edit summary.
Maybe I have misread or missed something, but my use was based on WP:REDLINK, which says “Do not remove red links unless you are certain that Wikipedia should not have an article on the subject, or if the red link could be replaced with a link to an article section where the subject is covered as part of a broader topic.” I have draft articles for these red links, so I’m curious.
There was a back and forth rivalry between Fairbank, one of the editor of China's Response, and Michael, whose name was redlinked, so it will be useful for readers to check them out.

Hi,
When you nominate an article for deletion, as you did here, could you please use the edit summary to explain what you are doing? I have had a look back at your edits for today (so far), and only a couple have non-automated edit summaries; the vast majority have nothing filled in at all. Edit summaries are very useful for helping other editors browsing the page history to see what has been going on, and as far as tagging for deletion goes, it is essential. Lyric Suite
Thanks for marking the dab page Lyric Suite as reviewed. I see you removed the classical music project banner from the talk page, but then put it back in again. I was unsure myself whether it should be included – the two entries that could claim primary topic status are the Berg and Grieg Lyric Suites, both of which come under the classical music banner, but some of the other entries don't. Is there a guideline anywhere about project banners on dab pages? --Deskford (talk) 19:43, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

the page Gal4 redict to specialized application of splitted Gal4 in Drosophila, adapted from yeast two hybrid system, which was invented by James P, Halladay J and Craig EA. PMID: 8978031
The Gal4 is an yeast transcription factor, coded by a yeast gene, therefore the main Gal4 page should deal with yeast Gal4 transcription factor and not with domain used in some constructs in Drosophila

Dear PRehse, your answer "I done because it was easy" is really not satisfactory to your qualification (reduced thioredoxin) is general but really very well nevertheless, you did not justified your intervantion and obviously you done it without reading the context I agree, that formatting on wiki is not my strong part, but this is not enough reason for your intervention I suppose, you agree now with direct Gal4 redict to the yeast Gal4 transcription factor page Piskacek (talk) 17:48, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Don't swamp content
As far as Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio is concerned, all short stories are inherently notable, and there's plenty of coverage out there to meet GNG. I was able to rescue The Imperial Physician in no time at all -- next time, take a bit of time or just drop it, instead of flippantly undoing my undoing. Redirecting in such instances only swamps content and is not desirable. Cheers Kingoflettuce (talk) 16:22, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Kingoflettuce Well I don't think all short stories are inherently notable - on the face of it that makes no sense and it certainly is not supported by any wiki policy. The redirect to the collection did make sense which is all I restored during the article review process.PRehse (talk) 16:32, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- I can't speak for all short stories, but all the Liaozhai stories have been covered extensively in second-hand literature -- regrettably less so in EL sources which we have some bias towards but greatly in Chinese sources. Even for the EL sources there is a wealth of info as I demonstrated with The Imperial Physician article. It is my greatest ambition to do articles for all five hundred of them. I've barely scratched the surface. You are most welcome to help! Cheers Kingoflettuce (talk) 16:46, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for the combine on the multiple tags. Just to let you know, I have started to leave the notability tag separate, since it allows ease for other editors to click on the search engines in that box. When you combine it, those go away. Just a thought. Onel5969 TT me 14:20, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Leica L-Mount
You unreviewed this article without leaving so much as a comment. Yes, I would just like to know for what reason, if it's not too much trouble. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:18, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Kudpung I thought I reviewed it - this sometimes happens. A wiki bug I think.PRehse (talk) 12:21, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- No, not a bug. I make the same mistake myself sometimes, and I of all people should know better. If the WMF would be more cooperative we could ask them to make that button change colour once a page has been reviewed. What do you think? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:23, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thinking about it it may have been the redirect to Leica L-Mount that I was trying to review and the article got caught in the cross-fire. I do have a colour change on the side bar but it is blue/green which (even worse for those with that sort of color blindness) is really not the best choice.PRehse (talk) 12:30, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
World Botanical Gardens
I really like your background. I'm a biologist by training and appreciate your work. Aren't those synchrotrons greats! You have a fun hobby too.
I noticed you edited on World Botanical Gardens (https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=World_Botanical_Gardens&action=history) on April 17 this year, just after the Marspokane edit of the same date. Marspokane is the user name of Mark Robinson of Spokane, Washington. He is one of the two persons who are defending themselves in court in the botanical garden lawsuit against them, referenced in the article (In re WBGI).
In his edit, he claimed that Notice was given to the shareholders on the WBGI website. His reference, however, was to "Business Bankruptcies" which makes no mention of that. Essentially, that is a fraud. He is also being accused of fraud in the legal proceeding. He was managing the WBGI asset (the botanical garden) when he concocted a scheme to steal all of the asset for himself and his partner (Steve Bryant). They filed for bankruptcy liquidation, claimed the company was losing money, told no one about it, and obtained a dissolution while selling all of the asset to himself and his partner. I learned about it anyway, and now the dissolution is being unwound based on that fraud. Apparently, he feels the noose tightening, and tried to bolster his case by making that edit on April 17.
Sorry you got unwittingly caught up in it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Youngnoah (talk • contribs) 14:49, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Ilathu Nair
There are no details available for Illathu Nair in Wiki, its a separate class of Nairs. Nair is a very large community. this article helps people to understand about the different group existed in Nair group. These days Nairs are generalized as sudra category, its very important to give awareness to public that Nair community had both Kshatriya and Sudra group existed in this community same like Singh community where Kshatriya, Bhrahmin, Sudra and Sikh exist in the group.
Please note this is not a duplication of Nair article. Illathu Nair is a sub group of Nair thats the only similarity. A seperate article is required for awareness.
The article about Nair in Wikipedia is incomplete and edited but few having vested interest in defaming the community. I belong to Nair community and I know in and out of this community well. So separate article is required and hierarchy is very important to avoid confusion about this community with the public.
All citation given in Nair article are not really relevant for supporting the claims. i kindly request to review the citation given in Nair article.
Speedy deletion declined: LGBT En Marche!
Hello PRehse. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of LGBT En Marche!, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being part of a notable entity indicates importance/significance (WP:CCSI#CORP, WP:CCSI#ORG). Thank you. SoWhy 11:56, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
I've declined that speedy nomination, just because she's due to fight in UFC 214 tomorrow. If she does, she'll satisfy WP:NMMA. I think it's fair enough to wait for that. If she doesn't fight for whatever reason, feel free to remind me and I'll delete the article. Does that seem reasonable? Basalisk inspect damage⁄berate 16:51, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

AFD James Ricky Coward clarification
The following posts were made;
Blatant WP:COI - Wikipedia is NOT an advertising site. Nearly all edits are by Ggmatrix (who only edits this page and his wifes) and Jessicacoward (obviously his wife) - The same has been done for the wife's account which is also AFD, https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Jessica_Coward
I have to take moment and let the hate sink in, lol, first off I don't advertise anything on Wiki, I own 31 websites and I have a massive social media following based off my Proven Professional background and current professional status as a trainer. Your frivolous comment regarding me advertising on Wiki makes it very obvious that your just not happy about another individuals success. The bottom line is this, I have a proven high level professional background and continue even in my 2nd career to exceed exceptions, especially given the short time it took me to get here. You seemed (like most haters) to have taken a lot of time to look at my page here on Wiki as well as my wife's, I think its only fair that I oblige you and do a little digging myself and Im very confident given my unique background and skill set that I will find out everything I need to know about you. Also my profile has been on Wiki since 2013, and Im certain if there were any issues with my page, the true professionals at Wikipedia would have contacted me to make any necessary adjustments. I thank Wikipedia for the privilege of having a page here but at the end of the day I didn't ask for this page to be setup and quit frankly it hasn't done anything for me professionally or business wise, all of my success is the result of hardwork, intelligent decisions and skills that Ive spent thousands of hours developing and refining to be at this level now. I do hope that the professionals at Wikipedia take a moment to vet individuals like the one making these frivolous and unsubstantiated statements / attacks on honest, hardworking individuals featured on Wikipedia.
Respectfully submitted, James Ricky Coward aka "Coach Rick"
In bold was my post, the rest is Ricky. My failure to sign the post may have caused confusion, I have retroactively signed and corrected so no further mistakes occur.

- Ryanharmany No worries I understood perfectly. It is possible that Coward thought that the person who AfD'd his wife (me) and him (you) were the same hence the wording of my comment. By way of information the walled garden came to my attention because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coach Rick's Mastering the Art of Technical Mittwork. Tyrol
TY for adding those WikiProjects to Tyrol (region). I first fell across Tyrol as a DAB page with a bad link into it. I kid you not - that DAB page was then linked only to Simple English, to Scots, and to Swedish Wikis - and Tyrol (region) was a redirect into it(!). de:Tirol and it:Tirolo, which relate to Tyrol (region) as such, are around 20 and 13 screensful respectively. There's fluff in both those articles, but if you feel like helping to bring the worthwhile bits into English Wiki, please go ahead. Narky Blert (talk) 23:27, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
Furian Deletion Contest
Hi.
I saw that you have contested our post for "Furian" in UK bands. I understand that you have your reasons but I have a more personal plea with this one I suppose. You are correct in saying that we have never charted but we have featured on Kerrang radio (which I can provide proof for) and have been established as both a registered business and a band and are registered with PRS as an artist (the global royalties agency). By that merit we are surely a band that could be entered.
I completely understand that you are playing by the rules and don't wish to approach from any other angle than, we could really use the traffic that this wiki entry can provide (due to our relation to the chronicles of riddick searches). Being a band is a very tough game to play and we need every little bit of help that we can get in directing people to our page. I ask kindly that we work to fix this instead of denying it. Would love to hear your feedback, ears are completely open. I am new to wikipedia and I'm positive that you've identified that straight away. But I would rather be helped than denied.
Kind regards,

Improving a page tips needed
Allo, hope all is well, I was wondering if u can help me understand and improve the wikipedia page on yoni Sherbatov, I am very, very new at this so I'm not really sure at 100% of my editing skills . I really want to improve this page so I was wondering if u can help me understand what I need to add or delete from the page. I saw that an editor deleted the warnings on the page but were re-added. I did deleted the link to his Facebook page a few weeks back. I will most definitely continue reading on how to improve this page but a few tips from u would be greatly appreciated. thank u so much for ur time. have a great day. --Juliering (talk) 13:33, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

SC Juventus
How should I move the page if the SC Juventus page name already exists before the move? Rhinen
And you do a revert that erased logo and kits changes just for that, thanks man. Rhinen
- Rhinen I will do it. Basically the existing page must be speedy deleted with a note that it is for a page move. You will just have to do those minor changes again into the right article.PRehse (talk) 10:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- The club's official current name is SC Juventus București (https://www.frfotbal.ro/) in the past the club was also FC Juventus and CS Juventus, are some pages, for example, on players pages who played at Juventus București where the club is CS Juventus, if you delete this pages instead of redirect to SC Juventus will be not ok, I think. Rhinen
- Rhinen Please read what is being done. SC Juventus București will be deleted --> CS Juventus București will then be moved to SC Juventus București leaving a redirect. This way the history of the edits will be maintained as they are supposed to be. The copy paste that you previously did is a major no no with wikipedia.PRehse (talk) 11:06, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through

Pretending (HIM song)
Hi. I noticed you tagged this article, {Pretending (HIM song)}. I wanted to point out the single source for this article shows it charted at number 13 week 34 then went up to 3, 2 and 1 between week 33 and week 27, in "Finland's official list - Artists". I think this is all that is needed in the notability criteria: WP:NSONG. ---Steve Quinn (talk) 00:16, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Hallo, I came across this while stub-sorting, found that in its then state it only duplicated text from Professional certification, but then realised that you had removed most of its content. Looking further into the history, this article had been created by splitting the "business" section out of Professional certification, and is linked as a "Main" article from there. The list which you called spam seems much the same level of detail as much of that article (yes, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, but a certain level of consistency makes sense), and I've reverted it. If you disagree philosophically with the content of Professional certification (business), you might want to take action about the more general article Professional certification. Or perhaps trim out some of the spammier elements of the business article. But removing its entire content doesn't seem to me to improve the encyclopedia. PamD 07:37, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Nair Article
You know that Nair article is protected from editing. So I add few information about Illathu Nair in a new article. And now I am blocked from editing it and all my entries are removed. I really suspect that a group is trying to defame the Nair community, and I charged a case with Kerala cyber police about the activities and statements in Nair article, its heinous crime in Kerala cyber act. Also I also would like to bring your attention on below blog written by an editor of Wikipedia about the Sitush a WIki editor who deliberately blocked me for writing in Wiki about Nair, he just needs to defame the community and many had highlighted about this in the Nair talk page and all of them were blocked accessing it. A piad group is trying to defame a community in Wikipedia and its exposed now. As you are an editor I kindly request you to check the sources of Nair article and also do a comparion check on the old Nair artciel and the new Nair article written by Sitush.

Remove derogatory lines from Nair page
As per Wikipedia editors, they never consider the details of Raj era. Then may I know why derogatory information such as Polygamy, Hypergamy, Thallikettu kalyanam, sambandham etc are included in the page. Those were practices of Raj era. Take Wikipedia serious. Its not a place to put your views and suggestions. Either go with the rule that no old Raj era customs will be included or take consensus from other editors and add non derogatory customs and prides of these caste and elaborate the page. Apparently it look like few has taken the control of few pages like Nair, Ezhava etc and I have seen you using derogatory statements in Ezhava as well.
Remove below derogatory line in Nair article. ""These people were then distinguished from others in the local population by their occupation as protectors, with the others all being classed as out-caste. Pullapilly describes that this meant they "... were given kshatriya functions, but only shudra status. Thus originated the Nairs.""
Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon
Hello, I noticed that you merged my article. I would like to know why. I know that she is not a well known Princess, but I was very proud that I had created that article and am quite dissapointed to see that it has been merged. - Thanks to both of you for your efforts - This is an unusual situation (at least one that I have not heard of before) in that the page for Asra Nomani itself is not being targeted for vandalism or disruption (at least it does not appear to be) but most or many of the articles that link to that page are having that specific link removed. I am not sure of the best way to keep up on this, other than to keep an eye on the "what links here" for that page. KConWiki (talk) 18:03, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Qolomongma
are you sure the name Mount Qolomongma is "Fine as a redirect"? "Qolomongma" is misspelled word, the right way should be "Qomolangma"!!--Baomi (talk) 15:39, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Baomi Redirects are cheap and as long as they point to the right place it is not a problem. In this case Qolomongma seems to be a plausible mis-spelling (or maybe a variant) but again it is what is in the actual article that's important. Now if you still think that it should not be a redirect - the way to get rid of it is though the Redirect for Discussion (RfD) path. The main reason I reverted it was because it wasn't being deleted the correct way but I also thought is was harmless.PRehse (talk) 15:49, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- I think it's just an unintentionally incorrect spelling, because nothing useful can be found by Google search. The pronunciation of the two words is completely different, so it should not be a variant. BTW, maybe it is OK in enwiki to create a redirect for mis-spelled title, I advised to delete it just because mis-spelled title is not allowed in zhwiki, and I have mistakenly thought that the policies of Redirect are same in enwiki and zhwiki.--Baomi (talk) 16:10, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your help tidying Arash (name). I put template:name-stub on it because it's listed here Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy, but I see it's not here Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:17, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) I took that up as a challenge ... found it listed under "Language and literature" on Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types/Culture which is linked from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types under "Culture". Not exactly obvious, but there. The hierarchy of stub types is not easy to navigate. But the page Category:Name stubs has the green box which shows it's an "official" stub type. My own technique for finding stub types is to go to a non-stub category for the article and then work up the categories hierarchy till I find one with a stub subcategory or a stub template listed which fits the article. Good luck. PamD 07:34, 28 July 2017 (UTC) @Shhhnotsoloud: PamD 07:36, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Reversion of edit to Ysbyty Cynfyn
I see that you reverted my edit of Ysbyty Cynfyn, which was a removal of the redirect to Ceredigion. There were several reasons I made that edit, including a move of the wrongly spelled page Yspyty-Cynfyn to Ysbyty Cynfyn. Both my edit and your reversion of it have been overtaken by the move which I requested. Twistlethrop (talk) 15:11, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Put a request to Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests." Twistlethrop (talk) 17:42, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
Auraeus Solito is his primary name, Kanakan Balintagos is secondary
You reverted my changes and noted that a "correct move" is needed to reverse the redirect of Auraeus Solito to Kanakan Balintagos.
This past May, I tried to remove the redirect at Auraeus Solito, but received a notice that I lacked the authority to do so. I submitted a request to Wikipedia to do so, but received no response.
Mr. Solito contacted me this past weekend asking why this has not yet been done, so I thought and looked for a few hours about how to change it myself since Wikipedia would not cooperate. The Help section was entirely unhelpful. I was successful in figuring out how to redirect the redirect --- but you did not like it.

Notability Guidelines with Komal Rao
Hello, This is regarding the wiki page of Dr. Komal Rao. In India female MMA artists are very rare due to social taboo. Komal Rao represents a medical doctor who has chosen to enter the MMA arena. She also is a woman who has fought a male and defeated him at YBN in Germany. A notable achievement by Indian standards. She is a well known student of Richard Bustillo, original student of Bruce Lee and president of India chapter of JKD, governing authentic JKD in India. On social media she has 30000 Facebook fans and is a well known personality in the Indian marital arts circuit. I want to avail of your guidance on the subject, how to deal with the page issues on Wikipedia. Since there aren't many people here who are available with the expertise of the intricacies of Wikipedia editing, if you can help, it will be well appreciated. She is very popular in India, on social media and offline. There are many articles written about her and she is a very notable personality in her own right. So I don't understand the notability criterion requirements being expected of this article. Awaiting your guidance on this subject of how to deal with this issue and resolve it. Speedy deletion declined
Hello PRehse. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of George Bard Ermentrout, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Page title is a plausible redirect. Thank you. —Kusma (t·c) 20:21, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Should these articles be nominated for deletion?
- Sirwan Kakai
- Hisaki Kato
- Guilherme Viana
- Steve Kozola
- Tony Johnson (fighter)
- Nick Rossborough
- Nate James (fighter)
- Stuart Austin
I created these articles when they were close to getting three top tier fights in Bellator. Now that Bellator won't be considered top tier for a while, should they be nominated for deletion? PEllis (talk) 10:27, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
- PEllis A classic yes no answer. Theoretically they should not have been created according to strict definitions but since they are I could not get too worked up about it. I personally wish there was more than one top tier organization in Wikipedia's MMA world so I would leave it alone. I will have a closer look after today's training but really there are worse examples out there that should be deleted.PRehse (talk) 10:43, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Proposed deletion
Recently been approved page but have editing issues that are being learned to address. Removed link to Peter Straub as it was cited incorrectly, wrong gentleman who has passed away. Also, made notable link to List_of_male_mixed_martial_artists.
This article is not self written by Eric Grant but rather requested by Eric for help in doing a Wikipedia Article. I accepted doing this article for no pay because I have been wanting to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia for a long time but never had an official opportunity to do so. I am very passionate about publishing and contributing to editing sources. As a previous DMOZ contributing editor, this is a passion for me to contribute and give freely of time toward volunteering. I would like to one day see if Volunteering as a Review Editor with Wikipedia could be an additional avenue to volunteer publishing. I realize that I have much to learn but I also realize the benefits to learning for this efforts, contributing aligns with my goals.
I'm not sure this is a COI issue but need assistance in what I should cite for this as I am not paid by Eric but rather a publishing entity volunteering.
Thank you for helping me understand and providing help to do better with my first article.

Biographies of filmmakers
Hello! Just a reminder that {{WikiProject Film}} does not cover biography articles, such as actors, directors and filmmakers. This applies to all of the film task forces as well, which means that the Australian cinema task force does not include articles about Australian actors, directors and filmmakers, and consequently should not have the |film=yes
parameter on the {{WikiProject Australia}} banner. Thanks! Fortdj33 (talk) 14:51, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Articles under 1500 characters in prose are typically designated stubs, not start-class, based on length alone. This article is currently at "1089 characters (167 words)". I've already reverted the edit once—changing it again without discussion is just edit warring. Please revert your edit. (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 13:43, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
- CzarWell I based my assessment on Wikipedia:WikiProject assessment which does not give a character length for stubs or any other class. Stephen F. Teiser
Thanks for your quick work on Stephen F. Teiser, though I resurrected him from "living = no" to "living = yes", which I thought only appropriate for a scholar of religion.
But while I'm at it, since you are experienced with a range of articles, I thought I'd ask what the procedures and expectations are about when & how an article is "reviewed." Does being reviewed seem to make a difference other than removing the ugly template?
Is the "Start-class" related, that is, if it's not reviewed is it "start"? This seems to me to be more than "An article that is developing, but which is quite incomplete. It might or might not cite adequate reliable sources." I wouldn't be insulted by a "B" class: "The article is mostly complete and without major problems, but requires some further work to reach good article standards."
The standard problem with academics is finding biographical sources. Their personal lives are not usually what makes them notable, so the emphasis is properly on their work. I could add more reviews, but I selected these to show the nature of Teiser's work but not the puffery.
In any case, cheers and apologies for intruding. ch (talk) 16:51, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- CWH Anyone can assess but when I do it I usually default to Start and go from there. The transition from Start to C usually hinges on the sources quality and quantity. I apologise for his premature death that was unintentional. I will encourage getting the article up through the grades but no need to rush. Give some time for others to add and clean and then see what can be done.PRehse (talk) 18:43, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks once again, this time for the quick work on Sino-Babylonianism -- you are a star for doing so much patrolling! (I think you probably meant to remove the "unreviewed" Template).
- But once again, I'd like to ask you to consider how discouraging it is to work on an article and have it assessed "Start" when that is clearly not appropriate.
- I appreciate that you are doing indispensible work that I am not doing, and that you don't have a lot of time, but it wouldn't take long to see the number of references and conclude that they are not "quite incomplete." You suggest that your policy is to "default to Start" (which I hope does not imply that you do not look at the article) to "give time for others to add a clean and then see what can be done." I wonder if anyone ever does.
- In any case, apologies once again, and thanks for your patience.ch (talk) 04:00, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

blocking page
Dear PRehse,
I am wondering why you left a notability tag on this page? https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Vlad_Tuinov
I am the one who created the page. Everything in there is factual and backed by a reference. I was told the last time to find reputable references, when they took his page off. Yes there are some references from smaller media, but thre are a lot of interviews and exposes from Channel 1 Russia, which is the largest channel in Russia and CIS. The channel is also broadcasts throughout Eastern Europe. There are also numerous references from other media sources from around the world. According to wikipedia that fight results and mentions can be used but more importanly are main stream media sources on him and those are provided. Wikipedia's policy also says a person is noteworthy based on if they had a stellar amateur career. If you look at his amateur career and professional career, at 19, it is more than stellar and media does cover him. I would like to resolve this, especially considering fighters like Massaro Glunder and Gokhan Saki have profiles and there are no problems with their pages and Gokhan Saki's references are all broken links. All my references are verifiable.
- DMR2017 As the edit summary says the subject does not meet notability guidelines specifically WP:NKICK and the references really don't override that. The tag just points that out and does not mean it will be deleted right away. I will look at the other pages maybe they should be tagged too.PRehse (talk) 15:16, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Butting in, I'm a huge fan of Vlad's and the wiki kb notability requirements are in dire need of a refresh. Still, Vlad at this point IMO wouldn't have the notability. Needs to be ranked or fight for more notable titles. Yeah references everywhere in wikipedia could be better but Glunder has fought for the K-1 title, has been ranked and I mean Saki is just easily wiki notable no matter how you look at it. No doubt Tuinov will be at some point too.ShadessKB (talk) 15:39, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
Appiano redlinks
In your recent edit to Appiani, you deleted two redlinked names. I considered it acceptable to include them because this sub-list is just a précis of Appiani family, which has the same redlinks; if someone adds the articles in response to the implied request, it will resolve both. I understand your reasons (as far as I can guess with no edit comment) but you have still left a dangling reference to Alessandro; see Isabella. How should that be fixed? David Brooks (talk) 23:32, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- DavidBrooks Disambiguation page entries should contain at least one blue link. The family article should take care of the family specific listing.PRehse (talk) 23:43, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'll remove the sub-list and just send the user to the family page. David Brooks (talk) 23:55, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

Class ranking
Hey, First of all, thanks for taking the time to rate the articles. Secondly, as I created both Valérie Gauvin and Grace Geyoro, and I thought they're both on about the same level, I was wondering why you rated Gauvin a start-class and Geyoro a C-class (I'm not very familiar on how to choose ratings so I'd appreciate some general tips too). Cheers, --SuperJew (talk) 13:47, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- SuperJew Personally my main concern was to get the right projects listed and Start is sort of my default rating. Yeah both are definitely C class. The difference in my mind between Start and C usually revolves around the number and quality of the references.PRehse (talk) 13:58, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Restore redirect
Would you mind explaining the "restore redirect" concept to me? What you did appears similar to an article deletion, except that the procedure for article deletion has been bypassed. Nom is a writing system while Sino-Vietnamese characters are of course characters. English alphabet is an article, not a redirect to standard written English or English orthography. Sino-Japanese characters are discussed in kanji while Sino-Korean characters are discussed in hanja. This is despite the fact that hanja is not a term in common English-language usage. I am planning to submit articles for Asian Month. If redirects are commonly considered to have priority over articles, that would be a hindrance. CrayFishBob (talk) 06:10, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Algorithmic bias category
Hi! Thanks for taking an interest in the Algorithmic bias article. I noticed you removed the discrimination tag from the category list. I'd like to add it back in, but wanted to understand why you removed it. To me, the article belongs in the list, since it is primarily concerned with discrimination resulting from flawed algorithmic processes. This seems very relevant to people who might be interested in discrimination topics. I'd like to tag it again if you don't mind - or if you disagree, please let me know what you think. Unrelated, also thanks for all the work on martial arts subjects! I also lived in Japan and have done a lot of work on shrines, temples, and Shinto. -- Owlsmcgee (talk) 06:04, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- Owlsmcgee More of a fly by clean-up so please add the tag back in if you think its best. However, I did feel that Algorithmic bias is not really intentional discrimination and is best categorized in the remaining sub-cats. Algorithmic bias certainly is something that occurs in a much broader context than discrimination.PRehse (talk) 09:57, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Please explain reasoning for creating new article
Hi. Can you please explain the reasoning for creating a new article Weser-Rhine Germanic which copy-pastes material from an existing article Istvaeonic languages. What discussions have there been about this please, because there seems to be something strange going on. That article was under discussion and at the exact same time material has also been copy pasted to a previously deleted (therefore also effectively new article) Istvaeones.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 22:38, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- Andrew Lancaster I really have no idea, it all seems to be boil down to AKAKIOSPRehse (talk) 22:51, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- Did AKAKIOS request the edit? You did the edit so you must have a reason? By the way, Rhine-Weser seems to be the usual term the article is aiming for, not Weser-Rhine, and the Ingvaeones are not the same as the Istvaeones. In any case how can we sensibly be working on the same text in 3 places?--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 23:04, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- Andrew Lancaster No, all I did was put Project tags on the Talk page of a newly created page. I am not sure what AKAKIOS is trying to do and was sitting back to give it a chance.PRehse (talk) 23:28, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry. I must have been looking at the wrong edit history, or looking wrongly. It seems, FYI, that AKAKIOS is now editing both the new articles instead of the old one. There is no serious proposal about why an article split is needed, but there is a seeming content disagreement (or a breakdown of discussion at least). So it kind of looks like a POV fork. Any help in getting a better discussion about normal article splitting or merging procedures would be welcome.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 23:47, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi PRehse, I'm not sure what your role is in all of this, but to keep it simple and factual: I've effectivly split the current Istvaeonic languages article into two separate articles, after I prevously edited the article, in which I partially combined two previous (and quality -wise unsufficient) existing articles. A choice which I now see as a mistake. It's clearly the way to go given that Istvaeonic languages currently includes two very different meanings. The talk page has become close to incomprehensible to me after Andrew Lancaster, who in all honesty does not seem to be particulary well read on the subject, got involved and turned what should and could be a fairly simple matter in a head ache. WP:BALL - Seek advice
Hi PRehse, I would like to seek your advice on UFC 221 where no official announce of a bout would consider speculation under WP:BALL wikipedia policy. I am currently in the counter vandalism program /course and working on vandalism in wikipedia. Other editors disagree with me on the WP:BALL, and I would like to make sure I have tagged correctly as disruptive. I will stand corrected if my understand is wrong. Please advise and thank you in advance.CASSIOPEIA (talk) 14:11, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Cebuano Wikipedia
Hello, PRehse. You have redirected Cebuano Wikipedia using this as a cause. The bad thing is that the version nominated for its elimination was this, and not the one that I translated. I hope soon your reasons why you redirected the article again. Super Ψ Dro 16:23, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I see that you do not even bother to answer me, because according to your contributions, today you have entered Wikipedia and even then you do not answer me. Super Ψ Dro 12:14, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
- Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!
Outreach and Invitations:
- If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with:
{{subst:NPR invite}}
. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.
New Year New Page Review Drive
- A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
- Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
General project update:
- ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
- The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

RfC: location of Foxwoods Resort Casino (MOS:BOXING)
Greetings. There has been extensive discussion at Talk:WikiProject Boxing regarding the location of Foxwoods Resort Casino, and how it should be specified in MOS:BOXING. To form a consensus on this, your opinion as an active member of the Project is essential and highly welcome. The current discussion can be found here. Karate technique stubs
Hey Pete, merry Christmas if you are so celebrating. I noticed you tagged the gyaku-zuki article that seems to have popped out of nowhere yesterday. Seems that user:Dwaynewest has started creating stubs for the Japanese names for some karate techniques. Bluntly put, I don't think these articles should exist. These are exactly the sort of "will never grow beyond a stub" items that list articles are meant for. (Not to mention the incorrect capitalization of the titles, which is just annoying.) Do you think we should just merge them back to karate techniques, which had been the redirect target of at least one article before yesterday? I don't want to be too bold, but frankly I just don't see the point of these articles. oknazevad (talk) 00:05, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- Oknazevad Season's greetings back at you. I saw those as I patrolled new martial arts articles and as usual did a quick clean up. I tend to agree that lots of sub-stubs are better served by a larger more developed article. I have been wrong to many times to count but Dwanyewest comes across as young and enthusiastic and more importantly open to suggestion. Let's see what he says.PRehse (talk) 12:41, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- I willing I to accept the Crane kick being merged to The Karate Kid if it is seen as too short of an article. I still believe two of the sources relating to crane kick are useful the one stating what Darryl Vidal created the move and the other how it became part of popular culture.
Gyaku-zuki and Uchi-Uke I am also willing to accept if it is seen as to short to be merged to karate techniques.
If Ushiro-Geri is not considered good enough then I will accept that being merged too among the other recent karate technique articles. I honestly didn't mean any harm I thought I was helping expand the knowledge of useful karate techniques.Dwanyewest (talk) 21:18, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- Dwanyewest Neither myself or I think Oknazevad a calling harm just that for something thats expected to remain a stub than its best merged into a more substantial article. Same with judo and aikido by way of example.PRehse (talk) 21:35, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't think nay harm was intended, just that the readers might be better served by not having a bunch of short articles. These are prime candidates for pointing to a list article like karate techniques. The crane kick article should definitely point at the Karate Kid article, as it is part of that film, not a real world technique. oknazevad (talk) 21:50, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
Karate articles and may I ask a couple of questions?
As you will have seen over the years I have tried to add reputable sources to martial articles like Kime and other without sources. I just wish to ask if as I seen to be making missteps if Karate in the United States is notable or if making an article on the question mark kick aka Brazilian kick is worth making (I don't the name in Japanese) or if it should be added to karate techniques or Kick the same with Rolling thunder kick (I also don't know the name in Japanese).
The other question is more a personal question could you design for me a talk archive inbox or show me how to do it myself please. Dwanyewest (talk) 21:33, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- Dwanyewest I hope I set up the archive box like you want. As for the other articles I think you are doing fine just that sometimes its better to flesh out larger articles than create lots of small ones. Karate in the United States could grow with other editor contributions. Individual technique articles maybe not. Kime certainly could.PRehse (talk) 23:23, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
Question
Hi, PRehse - hopefully you can advise - if an article TP has a Banner shell, and the article ends up being deleted, is that deletion discussion +result added or maybe transcluded to that TP banner? We just had a discussion at NPP (I believe) about such article history and for some reason, I thought the TP banner shell was the place to keep such info archived. Is that "wishful thinking?" Atsme📞📧 19:39, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- Atsme I always assumed if the article page is deleted so too is the associated talk page. That makes sense to me but I also think that if the article is restored so to is the talk page.PRehse (talk) 16:32, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hmmm...maybe it's just when there's a redirect that it's kept...I'll ask at NPP. Thanks! Atsme📞📧 16:48, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive
Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!
We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!
The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.
Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:
- The total number of reviews completed for the month.
- The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.
NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
