Your opinion

For the past well 4 months that Kamen Rider Wizard has been broadcast, we've referred to a character known as "白い魔法使い" in Japan as "White Wizard" in English. In the past 24 hours, this character has become featured on the show's official website (therefore a reliable source) under the name "Shiroi Mahoutsukai", rather than any attempt at translating into English. I've gained a reputation for being a hardass when it comes to name translations, but that was only when the names were in katakana. What should be done here? Because I absolutely abhor using "Shiroi Mahoutsukai" when its barely a proper noun.—Ryulong (琉竜) 15:05, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Shiroi Mahoutsukai is absolutely a proper noun, so your comment that it isn't doesn't make any sense. If that is the official name for the character, than that is what should be used. Of course, you can include a note about the literal translation of the title, too. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 16:44, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
I guess it would be the official name of the character, even if it's just a direct transliteration of the Japanese name 白い魔法使い. However, my issue now is that I have an editor hellbent on creating an independent article now that he's getting his own set of toys and shit, and he has a section on the official site dedicated to him. I have been asking for proper reliable sources but he's throwing "HE HAS TOYS NOW" at me (as well as some cellphone photographs of a magazine issue which may or may not be out [I don't know where to buy Terebikun or Terebimagazine here]).—Ryulong (琉竜) 04:43, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
You seem to be doing fine right now. As far as I can tell, there's no evidence of independent notability for the character. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 08:28, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Help interviewing a Japanese WikiProject

Since you've been involved in two previous WikiProject Reports, including one featuring WikiProject Japan, I hope you don't mind me asking if you'd be willing to help interview a Japanese WikiProject for the Signpost. I've been trying to highlight WikiProjects from other languages of Wikipedia and we had three successful interviews with Czech, French, and German projects last year. I'd really like to feature a Japanese project next but I don't know how to speak or write Japanese. Would you be interested in working on this story with me? You'll be included in the article's byline, get to help decide which project we interview, and help craft the questions for the interview. I've been looking at the Japanese Wikipedia's WikiProject Baseball and WikiProject Biography as possibilities, but we could interview any other active projects you know. –Mabeenot (talk) 01:35, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure I'd be the best for it, but I'm willing to help. I think Oda Mari might be good at helping to translate the questions into Japanese. I don't have any preference on which project is interviewed. If you could post a list of questions here (or a link to them), that would be great. Also, if you could post an introduction in English so we could translate it and then post it on that project's talk page, that would be great, too. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 05:07, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi! I was reading this thread when Nihonjoe replied. There is a page for people like you at WP:ja, Mabeenot. ja:Wikipedia:Help for Non-Japanese Speakers. Or I suggest you to e-mail these users. User:Miya and User:山田晴通. They are English speaking adimin at WP:ja. And there are a lot of English speaking users at there. See ja:Category:User en. Of course, I'd be willing to help you. Don't hesitate to ask. Oda Mari (talk) 05:37, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
I have drafted some questions for the interview. Feel free to change any of them and translate if needed. As you noted, some Japanese editors know English and will not need translating, so I'll let you decide the best way to proceed. My usual invitation to participate in interviews is available in my userspace, although we will probably want to explain a little better what the Signpost is and why we're interested in hearing about the unique experiences of Japanese Wikipedians. Usually, I'll post the invitation to the project's talk page (so everyone's invited) and then individually invite some users by using the contributors tool on the project's page and talkpage to find editors who have a long history with the project and/or have commented most frequently. If the person who first created the project's page is still active, I'll usually invite them too. When I tried interviewing the German project last year, I sought out English-speaking editors over there to help with translating and ended up creating unnecessary confusion, so I'd prefer it if one of you is willing to be the go-to person communicating with the folks at the Japanese project. Thanks for helping make this WikiProject Report a reality! –Mabeenot (talk) 07:11, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey, still busy?

Hi Nihonjoe! About a month ago, I asked you if you could do copy-editing for Clannad (visual novel) and Angel Beats!, but you said you were busy in real life. Now, do you have time, or are you still busy? Thank you. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:01, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

I am still in the middle of a few things, so it may be good to have someone else look at them if you are in a hurry. If not, then I will get to them when I have some extra time. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 09:03, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Do you have time for a translation?

Hey Nihonjoe, I found Russian classical music and the Japanese version appears to be much better and is a good article on their wikipedia. Is there any chance you'd be able to improve this version with information from the Japanese one? Ryan Vesey 19:46, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure I have time for a project of that size right now. I have too many RL things which are taking my time. You might ask Oda Mari or some of the other native Japanese in the project. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:14, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

At Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Japan-related articles, clicking on the number of an archive shows a URL with /misc but there seems to be a redirect from /Archive. Archiving of previous RMs prior to launching new ones

I just reverted a similar one (logged in) prior to another RM. It's a pattern. An IP cluster did that prior to a dozen of Kauffner's RMs last year, if you search SPI and ANI you'll find it somewhere. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:43, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

  • IIO and that Canadian IP show up at various RMs and other forums to hound me about this, that, and the other. This has been going for almost a year. Maybe it was actually about something at one time. I don't know. Now they are just obsessed. There are literally hundreds of kilobytes of IIO complaining about me, and he has researched my edit history going back a year or two. I figure I'm the most thoroughly investigated editor in the history of Wikipedia. Kauffner (talk) 07:14, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

request to add video to anime article

hello,

i'm a student at Alverno College and am currently enrolled in a class in which we need to make a video for a wikipedia article. i have created a video that gives an example of proper chibi proportion, and i believe that it would add to the anime article. i was thinking that it could be placed in the Visual Characteristics section, under the Proportions sub-heading.

here is a link to the video: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File%3AProper_Chibi_Proportions.webm

thank you for your time, and please let me know either way.

Jackssnowflake (talk) 20:32, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

I don't know that the Anime article is the best place for that. However, I did add it to the Chibi (term) article, where it fits in perfectly. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 21:28, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Power

Exactly what recourse would someone have if you blocked/banned (and keep in mind the distinction is purely semantic, in either case you'd be wielding authority to "win" a debate) them for daring to disagree with you, or for having qualms about casual threats of cutting off privileges? It's not exactly comforting to a newer editor to see an admin making comments on talk pages that boil down to "if you continue to disagree with me, you lose access". Seanette (talk) 09:02, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

I don't really care if people disagree with me, and they can do it all day and I won't do anything about it. You're reading way too much into things. The only threat being made is that Ujongbakuto needs to stop editing things to how he wants them against common practice. If s/he wants to change that common practice, then there needs to be a discussion without constant edit warring. I don't have a dog in this fight other than to stop the pointless edit warring. If people decide that—across the board—we should use "Empire of Japan" for references to the country which existed from 1868 to 1945, I'm perfectly fine with that. Current practice, however, disagree with that and uses "Japan" across the board regardless of where/when the person was born in Japan.
Also, please keep the discussion in one place. There's no need to be spreading it across multiple pages here. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 09:30, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Task force Science fiction for wiki project novels

Excuse me, my name is Liberalufp and I will be the new coordinator of the task force. With me as coordinator things will be very different, for one the task force at the moment is run down and only has 10 members. In effort to make this task force a major success and living up to its goals, I will be taking the reins and will be requesting for each one of you to do your assignment I will be assigning you and message me on my talk page when it is done. If you wish not to do the assignment let me know. I am sorry if this is harsh and tyrannical but we have over 4,000 articles that need taking care of. Everything is optional and do not feel pressured. If you have any objections or Questions please message me on my talk page.--Liberalufp (talk) 01:57, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Vanished Hugo

Hello. I'm one of the editors who had interaction with Spinelli. FYI, he had (has) some subpages with various mathematical formulas posted. I had suggested to him that he template the pages with {{user draft}}, but he resisted. (So I left the pages alone.) Now that he has vanished, are the subpages an issue? E.g., should they be deleted, templated, or what? BTW, thank you for accommodating his request. It looks like he got smart and decided to stop beating the dead horse. I hope he is happier in his other pursuits. – S. Rich (talk) 14:52, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

The pages can be found if you know how to look. I'm not comfortable doing anything else with them. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:07, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
I know how to find them. But shouldn't they be templated with __NOINDEX__ to avoid FAKEARTICLE problems? As my interactions with the former editor have not always been cordial, I'm reluctant to do it myself. But if you will give me your go-ahead, I shall do so. (It is not a compelling need on my part by any means. Just a bit of unfinished business.) – S. Rich (talk) 23:35, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Sure, feel free to template them if you wish. I don't have any more authority regarding that than the next person, though. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:54, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Let me try this. The VANISH guidance says "The user account is renamed; user pages are blanked or deleted; and pages related to the user's conduct may be deleted, blanked, or moved." Seems that the user pages -- including the subpages -- should have been blanked or deleted. You were (and are) the one best positioned to accomplish that step. (It looks like they were simply automatically renamed during the process.) It would save trouble to do so now rather than going though a AfD process. Hugo wanted everything gone. He blanked his user page. His user page and user talk page were blanked and renamed in the vanish process. So why not delete the subpages now as well? – S. Rich (talk) 14:17, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
Why are you so concerned about it? Hugo doesn't seem to care, and the only pages that are generally deleted and blanked (respectively) are the user page and the user talk page. Any subpages are generally just renamed along with the account. Pages containing mathematical formulas are hardly related to his conduct. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 22:35, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Looking for an Unblock over Heavy Opposition, Nihonjoe

Chanced across the "Eguor Admin" grouping. Chose you and Addshore at random after rejecting a couple with no recent activity. "Eguor administrators promise to offer a fair hearing to editors who present a well-documented case that they've been mishandled in some way. Burden of evidence rests squarely on the shoulders of the person who makes the assertion."

I was indef. blocked for sockpuppeting last May, but I didn't do it. The block was by way of Timotheus Canens who provided no warning, diff, or discussion. He was an admin at the time, now he's an arb. I see at Eguor I'm supposed to prove my case, but I can't prove a negative. I can say there's no proof I socked and no-one's ever furnished any circumstantial argument either. I've edited for several years, and did a WP:CLEANSTART after a WP:OUTING. You can see this in the first edit of my account[1].

It's accurate that I had a rough few early edits in the then-new account. I had only been a content editor, for years, but then got hauled into WP:ANI for trying to defend a WP:BLP. I encountered this whole new group of Wikipedia members that dwell almost entirely on the administrative side, no content. Not having any experience I didn't know how to respond. I was railroaded after the indef. I decided that I wasn't going to be bullied, and they weren't going to turn me into a sock which would be giving truth to the lie, so I started editing via IP and signing with my user ID. That is not a sock. Nobody ever listened and I didn't know what to do.

What else? I appealed to ArbCom, who rejected without explanation and demanded I divulge my previous account. I appealed to ArbCom again, by this time Timotheus Canens my blocker was an arb, and did not recuse himself. ArbCom however (this is important) did not block me, it only declined to lift my block. Any admin as far as I know can lift my block under policy, and an arb told me this. Why am I writing two Equor admins? Because if you decide to unblock me, you better be prepared for blowback, and I figure each of you could help the other. Anyhow, this is four paragraphs already, I better wrap it up. If you help me I promise I'll be straight with you, and try to fly high if I ever get back. This is Colton Cosmic.

You do realize of course that this user had appealed to WP:BASC and been denied, and had used dozens of IP addresses to evade his block over a the last six months? Even a cursory glance at his talk page would have made it clear that by unblocking him you are overriding not only the arbitration committee but the community as well. Are you sure that is what you meant to do? Beeblebrox (talk) 16:18, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Yes, and I put my reasoning on his talk page. Any discussion should be there. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 16:21, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. - David Biddulph (talk) 16:32, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Actually, your behaviour is being called into question, so this page is the correct venue, not Colton Cosmic's. As I assume you are willing to abide by WP:ADMINACCT, I'd be grateful if you would kindly explain how you feel you complied with community expectations of the policy at WP:ILLEGIT:
  • "Circumventing policies or sanctions: ... in the case of sanctions, bans, or blocks, evasion typically causes the timer to restart. See also WP:EVASION."
Specifically, the user evaded his block multiple times - as recently as last month, and the initial block was for reasons of sock-puppetry. Is there some overriding reason why the normal course of action described in our policy should not have applied in this case? Personally, I'm glad to see any prodigal user return, but I feel it unfair that some users are exempted from our policies while others are not. I have this page bookmarked, so please feel free to reply here. --RexxS (talk) 18:38, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Nihonjoe. If you could email ArbCom with details of Colton Cosmic's previous account we can confirm that your unblock was appropriate. SilkTork ✔Tea time 18:10, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Allow me to politely butt in. In my view this may be answered by WP:CLEANSTART, which is policy. "If you are not under Arbitration Committee sanctions, you are not required to notify anyone of your clean start." And may I throw a WP:AGF in there. Colton Cosmic (talk) 19:07, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Hi Nihonjoe. I do have a couple of questions. Under our blocking policy, we have the sentence Except in cases of unambiguous error, administrators should avoid unblocking users without first attempting to contact the blocking administrator to discuss the matter. Given that this was reviewed by BASC and declined, could you explain your reasons for not contacting either BASC or T.Canens about this unblock? Do you have a reason to believe there was an unambiguous error? WormTT(talk) 20:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
I think his reply to my first post at the top of the thread made it clear that he deliberately overrode both consensus and BASC and substituted his own judgement for that of all those others. As you (and many others) mentioned at my RFB, bold, cowboy-esque use of admin tools is not what is not what we expect from crats, so I think i am not the only one who would really like to know why it seemed so justified in this particular case, and what avenue of appeal caused Joe to decide to intervene here at all. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:43, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
I emailed him at random from a list of "Eguor Admins" Beebs, and did not realize I was getting a bureaucrat until later. I told him noting other than my case. Colton Cosmic (talk) 20:50, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
See, right there is the problem. Colton emailed me some time ago asking me to consider unblocking. Evidence indicates he has emailed many other admins as well, he's used IPs to campaign for himself many times, and every single time has been declined. Colton clearly just kept emailing everyone he could find hoping that one admin would be willing to ignore the the decisions of a large group of their peers.
This is what I find troubling about this. I'm not the least bit surprised Colton was still complaining to anyone he could about his block, although at some point email access probably should have been yanked, but rather that when he did find someone who thought he should be unblocked, they just cowboyed up and did it instead of discussing it with anyone. I've not know Joe to act so rashly before and I certainly hope he can now see what a poorly considered course of action this was even if he was right about it. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
CC has emailed me as well, more than once. Polite enough, but I elected to not unblock nor seek getting him unblocked. Not personal, seems nice enough in his own way, but I would bet he has emailed many others. I would have been glad to participate in a discussion with others, and would have been open minded as well, had a larger discussion been started prior to unblocking. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 01:21, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
First, thank you Nihonjoe, for your clarifications at ANI. I am content that my request above has been answered. Now that CC has been reblocked, I would hope that Dennis and other rational admins will be prepared to participate in that discussion that is suggested above. Nihonjoe's action has at least had the effect of exposing the very issues surrounding the original block and may, if calmly and patiently explored, lead to an acceptable unblock in the near future. I hope so. --RexxS (talk) 16:44, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

True, despite everything that lynch mob at ANI wanted. I'm truly disgusted with that lynch mob mentality they've shown in this case. There is still no evidence to support any sort of block. Any minor infractions CC may have done during his block is more than covered by the lengthy and unwarranted block he's already had. He should get off for time served, and also be apologized to for being blocked without any evidence to support the block. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 15:44, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Cosmic Colton

Hi Nihonjoe. It's not clear to me, from reading your lengthy statement at ANI, whether you were told what Cosmic Colton's previous account was. I hope you don't mind clarifying what you knew when you unblocked. Did CC tell you the name of his old account, or did you evaluate the accusation of sock puppetry without knowing his account history? An answer here is fine with me if it's fine with you. AGK [•] 08:40, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

CC never provided that information to me. Given how acerbic many people have been toward him, I'm not surprised he doesn't want to trust anyone with that information. I still stand by WP:AGF in this case, and don't fault him for not wanting to share that information. He has indicated multiple times that the previous account has not ever been blocked and is not currently banned, and I see no reason under any of the "evidence" I've seen so far that makes me think he is being deceptive. He's been entirely forthcoming any time he used an IP, and someone who was wanting to "get around the system" wouldn't be doing that. I strongly disagree with the reblocking of CC in this case as there is still no evidence. I find it unbelievable that so many admins in this case were gladly screaming for a lynching without any evidence at all to support any of the allegations made about sockpuppetry (which is the basic reason for the original block). If we are going to begin blocking people for no valid reason, that is truly sad. If we can't even abide by our own policies in situations like this, what leg do we have to stand on in defending anything we do as admins? ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 15:42, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
I don't think anyone in that thread was calling for a "lynching", Joe. The upshot of the thread was that your unblock was so startlingly out of process that it needed to be reversed (with no particular prejudice for or against CC), and that if you or Colton Cosmic want to pursue his unblock you're welcome to, but you must discuss the issues and make a case for why the original block was erroneous - not a case in your own head, or in his, but an actual case, explaining and debating things on-wiki. Speaking personally, I'd welcome an opportunity to see the cases laid out for and against the original block here, and I'd be perfectly willing to participate in a discussion evaluating whether the original block should be upheld; I'm just not ok with an unblock this obviously contentious being done by one admin who avoided discussing it or seeking information about it beforehand. If you feel strongly about Colton's block, I encourage you to go ahead and start an AN thread appealing it, which is the way we generally go about lifting sanctions on long-term indeffed, contentious users. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 18:00, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
I have to agree, I for one am not looking for you to be lynched, just hoping you see what a poorly considered action this was and how in the end it did not help at all, more the opposite. Pursuant to comments at ANI I am leaving you some fish, and as far as I am concerned that is the end of it.

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.
Beeblebrox (talk) 18:09, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
I'm not saying anyone wants me lynched (though I'm sure there are a few of those out there, too). I'm saying that the whole issue surrounding CC reminds me of a lynch mob (or perhaps the "witch" burning in Monty Python and the Holy Grail). The logic used to block CC has no actual logic in it. It was not based on any evidence, and the blocking admins have not volunteered anything which even comes close to anything solid. Therefore, the mentality is that of a lynch mob: just a big pile-on just because everyone else is piling on, without regard to any evidence (or lack thereof). Thank you for the trout, though. One of my favorite fish to eat, actually. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 03:06, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

!Barnstar

Hey Joe,
I wasn't sure a "barnstar" was exactly what I wanted to convey, if for no other reason than the CC incident didn't exactly fly under the radar as a low-profile action. I did however very much appreciate your AGF and desire to bring another editor back into the fold. I personally haven't investigated anything, but on general principle I believe I agree with you on principle. My only niggle would be the lack of a discussion with the blocking admin. prior to the unblock. Now all that said, I did think that I wanted to note the situation in some manner, so I offer you this:

This user does not engage in Groupthink, and sometimes thinks outside the box.

Hi Nihonjoe. You probably didn't see the RM of Kaze Tachinu when you moved it to The Wind Is Rising, but as there is ongoing discussion over the title, you should participate there instead of moving the article on your own (cf.). Sorry to be back so soon to criticize another of your admin action, but I was reviewing unblock requests and came across this one. I'm just letting you know I have unblocked this user for the following reasons:

  • I don't see any edit warring
  • You gave no indication of where you thought this edit warring was taking place
  • The user was not warned to stop or notified of the block
  • Putting it on hold for a 24 hour block could easily turn into them having to sit out the block anyway while we discuss it, and since I looked at every single one of their edits and did not see any violation of WP:EW I consider this as falling in the "unambiguous error" category of blocks.

It has to do with the IP edits here. It's one person using multiple IPs to keep putting the same or similar information on WP:BN after being told to knock it off. It wasn't done in error. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 05:08, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

In need of Translating

If you can help me, i need some help with translating this video for the Ghost in the Shell (video game) article (to give it a development section). Re: Ghibli movies

If I've been or end up being rude about any of this, I apologize. I will always claim that it's because I'm sick of seeing people deny the facts and/or tell me lies and pure opinions are superior.

A translation is supposed to be as divorced from its original language as possible, so any translation (no matter the content) of a product name is very wrong unless that translation is being applied to the product by the product creator (and "friends", e.g. a publisher for other territories). Therefore, there is no difference between a so-called "exact translation" and "making stuff up". Furthermore, all later names are alternatives to an original, and that original is always the thing's "true name". This much is undeniable.

This could be used to argue that romaji (and, eventually, things like furigana) is similarly unusable, and it is at least true that they are alternative names. However, romaji is meant to be closely related to any of its appropriate languages because it's more or less a pronuncation guide, like furigana.

What bothers me are things like products with clearly printed, obviously English titles made by and for a Japanese market, which would include Japanese transcriptions; which one is the "true name"? And what about the even more vague case of solely Japanese transcriptions of obviously English words with no clearly printed title in sight; do I transcribe those into their appropriate English words, or pure romaji? Despatche (talk) 09:14, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

I guess we'll just have to disagree. I see your stance as basically a "scorched earth" policy, and we simply can't accomplish much by being that extreme in our approaches here. If the original creator uses a weird English title, it is likely to be the one used by everyone outside of that original language until a licensee comes along and uses a different title (if they even change it, which isn't always the case). An example is Ocean Waves, the official English title of 海がきこえる, and clearly not a translation of the title. I get irritated every time I hear that as it's not descriptive of the show in the least. I prefer the fan-created I Can Hear the Sea as a much more elegant title and also more evocative of the feelings in the film as it implies a nostalgia for when the main character lived close to the sea that seems to be lost on Ocean Waves. However, I expect you won't go on a spree of rename requests for this film and others like it because the English titles, no matter how bizarre to English-speakers, are clearly established as the official titles. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 15:13, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

File Deletions

Hi. Three years ago, I created an account(ebmastr) which was blocked (I am totally ok with it, no problem). I created an article (Cemil Uylukcu) which was blocked as well! I am also ok with that, no problem again!

My problem is I would like to COMPLETELY GET DELETED (especially files in Wiki Commons) what I uploaded/created. How can I get it? I will be very very happy if you help me!

Institutional memory

Please take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tomono clan. There are two issues with likely consequences in other articles. The perspective of institutional memory might help sharpen our understanding of the issues. --Ansei (talk) 18:45, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I have been exercising a degree of 'stewardship' on this article since about mid-2011 and have, in my opinion, cleaned it up, provided proper sources and generally tided it up in line with Wiki BLP policy. I was wondering if you would have any objection to removing the BLP sources template I believe you may have added in January 2010? I hope that I have now supplied sufficient correctly sourced references to make the citation unnecessary and in line with other biographical articles. In reading back through the editing history, I can absolutely see why this template and the protection level you put on it was necessary(!) but I hope that the problem has gone away - the rogue editor has been "quiet" since 12 March 2010 - and I hope that you will agree that the article and its sources are much improved since that time. I look forward to your thoughts. Manxwoman (talk) 03:49, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

I've removed it, and also rearranged some of the content to make it less resumé-like. I also removed the picture of him with royalty because it didn't seem to have anything to do with anything on the page other than just as decoration. The lead needs to be expanded to summarize the content of the article. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 06:14, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, but with great respect, there are a number of points that your edit has now removed and has completely altered the correct chronology. The picture of Sinden and the Prince of Monaco is at the ceremony where he was awarded High Patronage by the Prince, as clearly detailed in the section, hence the inclusion of the picture, not as decoration! Also, his career seems to cover very different aspects within the same profession, thus the sub-sections to make this clear. There is a huge difference between Director and/or Producer, in Theatre and/or Film, which I was trying to make clear, as there is very little cross-over, but your edit has amalgamated the two. "Video" hardly exists here in the UK now, hardly ever referred to and virtually unobtainable, except from specialist stores, as it is all now DVD and the series that he is directing goes to great length in all the sources that I have read to say that it is only a DVD release. I am sure you will understand if I restore the previous edit, take your points and deal with them and will work to expand the lead to summarize the content of the article better as you have rightly suggested. Manxwoman (talk) 19:06, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
Please don't talk down to me. "Video" doesn't refer to a specific format such as VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, etc., but rather to non-film moving picture files or presentations. It encompasses all of those. Regardless, do whatever you want as I don't care about that article and it's a royal mess. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 05:57, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
Please accept my apologies. I didn't intend in any way to "talk down to you" and unreservedly apologise to you if you thought that or it came across that way. It is not my style to be rude or condescending and I am sorry if I upset you. I take your points and will have another look at the article. Manxwoman (talk) 11:23, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Jiroemon Kimura of the 19th-Century

Nihonjoe,

I noticed the recent press releases and updates to Jiroemon Kimura's Wikipedia article, declaring him the last living man of the 19th-Century. I would like to dispute this claim on the basis of the Wikipedia entry of Mr. Jozef Kowalski, born 2 February, 1900, acknowledged as the world's oldest living military veteran, possibly Europe's oldest living man. I think it would be a credit both to Mr. Kimura and Mr. Kowalski if a correction could be made to the former's biography. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Sorry, but I'm not sure why you don't just fix it yourself. I don't have time to go edit the article right now.
