Re: Thanks, suggestion
Hello Nihonjoe, thanks for your note. I appreciate your kind comments and constructive feedback. My editing pattern on Wikipedia is largely due to personal choice, of course, but has in part been influenced by past incidents. Some of the subjects I have worked on, such as those related to Korean martial arts, tend to be contentious in one way or another. With the editing pattern I use, if other contributors disagree with some of my edits, it is straightforward for them to target the exact changes they disagree with. I have also been on the other side, where someone has made substantial changes in one edit and it has been more work for me to disentangle things. I appreciate your comment on others trying to make edits at the same time, but it has only happened to me once (to a significant extent)—and in that particular case, both of us were working together (with mutual awareness) to prepare the article for GA review. For whatever reason (e.g., time of day), I don't find that I clash with other editors on this point, but I am aware of the potential for unintended clashing. Thanks again for your note. Janggeom (talk) 01:21, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
On a different note, given your role in WP Japan, if you (or anyone else from WPJ) would be interested in reviewing or providing feedback on Japanese martial artists' biographies, I have worked on several of these over the last few months. I would be very pleased to help implement changes so that these articles conform better to Wikipedia (and relevant WikiProjects') policies and style guidelines. Thanks. Stop wasting my time
Being an admin is a volunteer job and you're not being forced to do anything, so if you're unwilling, unable, or just too lazy to do the job you signed up for, perhaps you should leave it to those many, many admins who are willing to actually do so. Go do something else productive.
Even more to the point, the source of these "stale" -- what a meaningless term that is -- reports are from the "New Pages" unpatrolled backlog -- exactly as suggested on the page itself. Let me quote that button that I clicked: Please consider patrolling pages from the back of the unpatrolled backlog. Perhaps you can take up your crusade with whomever was responsible for setting the standard I'm working from. --Calton | Talk 14:30, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- There's also another quote you may want to note, from the UAA page to which you're posting: "Accounts that haven't edited in 3 weeks or more should not be reported." Being an admin doesn't mean blocking everyone who gets reported to UAA or AIV or deleting everything that arrives at CSD. It means making a decision based on facts and policy. Based on the current set up, accounts that haven't edited in some time don't need to be blocked. So we must decline to block, which does indeed take up some of our time. If you'd cease posting usernames whose block we both know will be declined, it'll save everyone time. Otherwise, try to get consensus to change the policy. Useight (talk) 15:12, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Tactical Hapkido
Just curious why you put the AfD for Tactical Hapkido on the Japan related discussion list? Hapkido is a Korean art and Tactical Hapkido is an American adaptation of it. Where does Japan fit in? Niteshift36 (talk) 01:20, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

User:Andrew D Burns
You apparently deleted the page I posted last week calling it "blatant spam" ... I put in for a user name change from revadburns to Andrew D Burns so that it would be a valid user account, but that apparently didn't take either.
Of course, I did not copy and save the data on the page, so it's lost forever?
Is there a way to get the page data back so when it's re-submitted that I don't have to spend the hours it took to build it all over again?
Thanks for your help!

- Your requested username won't work because all you're doing here is advertising for yourself and your ministry. That is specifically disallowed (see WP:NOTADVERTISING, WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY, and WP:COI for more details). You are also removing cleanup tags placed on Life Application Gospel Ministries International without specifically addressing those concerns. That is also not acceptable. Unless you are planning to stop trying to use Wikipedia a promotional venue, none of the pages you've created will remain here. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:27, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Barak Obama's Education
I can, but don't want to go into the whole deal. So....
Where can I find any info. on Wiki about his education?
One thing: I've seen several posts on a variety of blogs that "no one can verify he 1... went to Harvard. 2... was Editor of Law Review. 3... ?? Well, nuts! I already said...
I don't see a section on his Education in the Discussion on Barak Obama.
I really liked your patience with "Mythsearcher" on the Obama Disambiguation page. Hope for some of that myself from time to time. AND.......
Do NOT be "put off" by my handle: I voted for him and, after 38yrs. (since 1964 when, "in my heart I knew he was right", I went for Goldwater) and, after the Neo-Cons, I might have voted for the "...deevil, he'sself".
Chaney has expressed great contempt for "paleocons". Right back 'atchya, Dickie.....
Can you iMAgine how long I woild've 'ran on' if I hadn't promised, sort of, not to? (Paleocon44 (talk) 22:28, 26 April 2010 (UTC))

- WOW!! THAT was FAST! Anyway, I stumbled onto some things in the Archives. But to summarize: I've been reading some posts, blogs, etc that Obama's education levels, awards, etc (some or all is not clear. At least, some important ones: President of Harvard's Law Review is one) are NOT "verified" and/or NOT "verifiable". Is there anything in Wiki, or elsewhere on this subject? Can the truthfulness either way be verified? (Paleocon44 (talk) 23:24, 26 April 2010 (UTC))
- I have no idea. You might get better results asking on the talk page of the Barack Obama article. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:56, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I realize that this article has 4 refs, but if you look at them none of them actually assert any notability to the company. Protected area stub sort Shikotsu-Toya
Hi there. I do not think it is necessary to add the stub sort template for protected areas to the individual features within Shikotsu-Toya National Park: Lake Tōya, Showashinzan, Mount Yōtei, Mount Tarumae, Mount Fuppushi, Mount Eniwa, and Lake Kuttara. The article for the national park already has the template and that is enough. If you start labelling individual features, then where do you stop? Do you mark every town, train station, ropeway, river, etc.? I am removing the template. -imars (talk) 05:55, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- Don't be ridiculous. It's for protected areas, not towns, trains stations, and ropeways. It helps in locating stub articles for protected areas of Japan so they can be worked on. Please do not remove the stub tag again. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:11, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- But a mountain and a lake are not protected areas per se. OK towns are perhaps a little extreme, but there are times that villages are considered cultural properties within a park, right? I do not see that there is a clear line where you stop marking the articles. In my opinion it makes sense to tag the article that is directly about the protected area. Anything else dilutes the meaning of the tag. -imars (talk) 06:30, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- Mountains and lakes are very often protected areas. There are thousands of protected mountains and lakes all around the world. As for a "line", do you see me marking train stations, towns, and ropeways? The tag is meant to mark protected natural areas such as national/quasinational parks, and (if there are articles on them) protected natural areas within those parks. There is nothing wrong with having more than one stub tag on an article, and you can clearly see I'm not tagging everything in sight with the stub tag. I've been around the block a few times, so please give me the benefit of the doubt here. I'm not going to go crazy and tag everything in Hokkaidō. I promise. :) ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:34, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Correct redirect
Hi Nihonjoe, I was wondering about Ganogerma lucidum. It was a redirect to Lingzhi, but since that is now itself a redirect I changed it to redirect to Lingzhi mushroom. However I noticed that the correct spelling of the mushroom is Ganoderma lucidum (d not g) which is already a redirect. Is the Ganogerma spelling a likely error for a redirect? Or would it make sense to delete the Ganogerma redirect? Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:04, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Disruptive editing at this article
Hi there. Would you please be so kind and look thoroughly into this issue? There's an editor who keeps changing the type of album from "studio" to "demo" on this article. He has no reliable verifiable sources to back up his edits, he tried unsuccessfully to have the article deleted alltogether.
The editor has a long history of disruptive editing, blocks, topic bans etc. As his own account is already blemished as such, he basically has nothing to lose if he receives a further block for edit war. This is why I believe he is so adamant in continuing his reverts, wanting to engage me in an edit war.
I am asking you, and have sent the same message to other admins online, to please thoroughly look into this issue. I have reported the whole incident to both Ani and Avi, yet to no avail. Thank you. Amsaim (talk) 21:00, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

- {{Hangon}} tags are not binding (they state, "Note that this request is not binding, and the page may still be deleted if the page unquestionably meets the speedy deletion criteria, or if the promised explanation is not provided very soon." right on them). As you placed the tag about nine hours before it was deleted, and you never bothered to explain why it shouldn't be deleted, it was deleted because it "unquestionably [met] the speedy deletion criteria". Speedy Deletion of Ric McIver
Hello. A couple days ago you fulfilled a speedy deletion request for the article Ric McIver. It had been nominated by user btphelps, who claimed it did not meet notability guidelines. However, a review of WP:POLITICIAN notes that "Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage. Generally speaking, mayors are likely to meet this criterion, as are members of the main citywide government or council of a major metropolitan city." Ric McIver is currently an alderman on the City of Calgary Council, and has also received a significant amount of media coverage for his leading bid to become mayor in the upcoming local elections. Both of these facts were clearly indicated in the article, a copy of which has been saved to User:Dbo789/Ric McIver. As the article met notability guidelines as mentioned above, I strongly feel that the speedy deletion was not appropriate, and ask you to please undelete the page. --Dbo789 (talk) 20:36, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Asian heart Institute
How does one write a complete article on one of India's leading hospitals without it sounding like an "unambiguous advertisement"? If you were a cardiac patient in Mumbai you would quite unambiguously elect to be operated here. Because they have a mortality rate of 0.3% and are famous for successfully operating on patients who were considered inoperative. You could have tempered your editorial zeal until the complete article was uploaded. There are multiple constituencies that seek information on last-resort cardiac care, some of which are desperately looking to save their own life or the life of a loved one. AHI has patients from many countries who fly in just to be operated here. AHI doesn't need Wikipedia advertising, it has been in operation for 7 years and till last weekend did not even know it was not on Wikipedia. I was trying to contribute to Wikipedia, not to AHI. Speed Deletion Colin George Jeffrey
Hello.
You deleted my article on the sculptor Colin George Jeffrey without explanation and - obviously - without reference to my comments.
The article I submited was aimed at highlighting a person who is, in fact, quite a notable figure here in Australia and has been the subject of many articles and exhibitions.
I also put a "Hang on" tag on it so I could have tinme to gather more sources/references but you deleted it anyway...
Do you think that you could reconsider this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clockworkandroid (talk • contribs) 09:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Just adding a hangon tag does not mean the article will be kept. No valid reasons to keep the article were given. However, I have userfied the article at User:Clockworkandroid/Colin George Jeffrey so you can work on it until it meets the inclusion requirements at WP:N. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 14:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Deletion of Kataxenna page, May 3rd 2010
Apparently the article did not demonstrate importance of the subject when you deleted it. However I had cited references to numerous online sources indicating the subject's exposure, such as top 10's poll, modelling portfolio and so on. What else would I need to do to demonstrate importance? Dcnailed (talk) 11:53, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- IMDB, brianx.com, and MySpace can not be used to establish notability as they are not considered reliable sources. Being named in a website poll is not grounds for inclusion, either. The notability guidelines for inclusion are clearly spelled out, and she would need to meet them in order to be included here. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:02, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- A very similar model in Masuimi Max has only one source on her page, which is simply an online magazine. Does she also meet notability guidelines? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcnailed (talk • contribs) 16:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Please read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 16:54, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Doesn't really answer the question. Kataxenna has arguably more sources than Masuimi Max, but the Masuimi Max page simply has a warning that it needs more sources. If Wikipedia is to be consistent, surely this should be applied to Kataxenna as well, as opposed to speedy deletion? Dcnailed (talk) 18:08, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but just because there are other articles which may have fewer sources than your pet article doesn't mean your pet article can't or won't be speedily deleted. I've explained why the article was deleted. If you refuse to accept that, you are free to take it to deletion review. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:34, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'll just track down more sources and repost there are plenty out there. Cheers for your comments Dcnailed (talk) 18:36, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for reviewing my page
NihonJoe, Thank you for reviewing my page Generation Vet. I added the significance of my story to the page, but was disappointed to find that it was not enough to save it. Maybe you can help me best articulate what it is I'm trying to accomplish. Generation Vet, while told in the format of a Web comic, is designed to capture a major demographic/cultural shift within the animal health industry in the United States. It reflects how the new generation, technology and people's changing attitudes about animals look today compared to what many people may remember.
I want to create a page that is as unbiased as possible, and has information that veterinarians would appreciate seeing. What advice do you have to create such a page? I appreciate your help. Let me know if you need links to the content to better understand it. AmandaBrownDVM (talk) 20:28, 4 May 2010 (UTC)AmandaBrownDVM
- The problem with the article as it was created is that it sounded like marketing copy, and it had no references at all. All articles are required to have third-party reliable sources which can be used to verify the [[WP:N|notability of the article subject. You may wish to review Wikipedia:Your first article for more information on making your first article. Please also keep in mind our conflict of interest guidelines as it appears that you have some sort of direct connection with the subject of the article. User:930913 page deleted by you
I made that page and the talk page to redirect to my page since it is my usual username. Since some sites, including Wikipedia demand an initial letter, a930913 is the username I use. Given that nobody else can have the username 930913, I took that to forward to my page. It was clearly noted down on the page to contact me before deletion. Two other administrators have condoned it but now you have protected it from me having it. Please can you make it again. It would be helpful if you could somehow protect it from other administrators. You have now redlinked my signatures. Thank you, 930913/A930913(Congratulate/Complaints) 21:37, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- If you wish to use them, you should place a request at Wikipedia:Request an account in order to have the account created for you so you can then redirect the pages to your actual username. Alternately, you can request that your account be renamed by placing a request at WP:CHUS (this will likely be the quickest route to achieve what you want done). You can't simply create pages for accounts which do not exist. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:59, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Why deleted Cezar Lungu page? Cezar is professional football player. He played for Romania national under-21 football team, for FC Steaua Bucureşti in Romanian Cup and FC Steaua II Bucureşti in Liga II. Again, why deleted Cezar Lungu page? 188.25.226.240 (talk) 09:05, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've reviewed it and restored the article. However, because the article makes no mention of his playing for FC Steaua Bucureşti (it only mentions FC Steaua II Bucureşti), it's possible someone may take it to WP:AFD. I suggest adding additional references and information which will make it more clear that he meets the inclusion guidelines. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
"Eat Poop You Cat"
http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Eat_Poop_You_Cat I personally feel that this article should not have been deleted. The name is bad, and can be changed to "paper telephone", or something like that, but if you look at the discussion page for the deletion, there is clearly NOT a consensus in favor of deletion, and there ARE good sources given. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Eat_Poop_You_Cat
So I don't understand the decision to delete the article. Instead, the name should be changed, or it should be merged into something else, e.g. the telephone game. Hermitage (talk) 09:04, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Strip - Ministry of Waxing
Hi Nihonjoe,
Would you consider my article Strip - Ministry of Waxing unambiguous advertising or promotion?
Perhaps there is a way we could work to putting it up, as I believe Strip is a growing phenomenon and a company that warrants equal publishing on Wikipedia such as other Singaporean companies that are already on it, such as Old Chang Kee, BreadTalk etc.
Would it help if I wrote my article more factually?
Thanks and do let me know!
Would you also be able to provide a copy of the deleted article for reference, as I made changes to the citation but did not save it. Many thanks!
Kind regards Debbie

Versailles Unsourced and Incorrect Information
Either provide a valid source or stop adding the "supposed" back to the Versailles page. 2 channel and other "musician name" sites are not valid sources. Unless Jasmine publicly released his name, it's extremely disrespectful to continue adding it, especially since you can't even prove it's correct. Gekkakou (talk) 15:17, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Um...what? Please stop being rude. I haven't added a "supposed" to the article as far as I know (whatever a "supposed" is). I never go to 2channel, or "musician name" sites (whatever that last one is). Until you can learn to be polite in your posts and stop accusing me of things I haven't done, please stop posting here. Thanks! ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:07, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- I meant "supposed name" as in that Kageyama Youichi/Yuuichi that keeps getting added back. I don't care how long you've been editing; that holds no weight in this situation.
- Anyway, back to the matter at hand--I went back and noticed that yet again an anonymous user added the name, then a user deleted everything, then you simply reverted it, so I apologize for the original comment, as you were caught up in the middle of this completely unaware. I'm just really tired of the anons adding this fake name back again and again. I have been reverting/deleting it for months now and even had the page protected to stop it, but they just come back once it expires. Gekkakou (talk) 11:04, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well, please be sure to review the situation more thoroughly before accusing an editor of doing something. Unless you can prove it, making such accusations is never productive. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:53, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Template question
Hi Nihonjoe. Sorry, I must have missed the discussion about removing the {{Contains Japanese text}} template. Your edit summary links Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2008 January 26#Template:Contains Japanese text, but that says the consensus was "Keep until". Best wishes, Keahapana (talk) 21:15, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, "keep until it has been removed from articles, then delete." As both WP:ANIME and WP:JA have deprecated it, I am removing it. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:25, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining that. I've always thought this {{Nihongo}} template with a barely visible question mark is too subtle compared to other others like {{Zh}} with clear hyperlinks. In terms of Web usability, shouldn't users get some kind of {{Special characters}} warning? Keahapana (talk) 22:31, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm guessing that upwards of 70-80% of those using the web have an OS installed which will automatically display the Japanese characters with no action on the part of the end user. About up to 10% can't display them in their current browser because their browser is retarded or too old, and the rest can view them, but need to make a setting adjustment or install the characters. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 08:47, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Re: Abusing Twinkle again
Please note that you are abusing Twinkle again by filing false WP:AIV reports, as you did with this report here. As indicated by Materialscientist here, his edits are obviously not vandalism. If you continue to abuse Twinkle again by filing false reports or doing anything else which violates the letter or spirit of the rules pertaining to that tool, you will have your privileges revoked permanently. If you have a dispute where you disagree with his edits, you should follow the steps outlined at WP:DR. Thank you for your cooperation. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:47, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- "If you continue to abuse Twinkle again by filing false reports" [3]Please refrain from making such broad and false accusations towards me in the future. I truly believe that said user was and is violating Wikipedia Policy. I attempted to remedy the situation the only way I know how, and that was to report him to the proper authorities. I notice you purposely ignore me asking for help in case I had reported him to the wrong people. [4] I also notice that the user personally contacted you before you gave me another warning which leads me to believe you may not be acting in good faith. You can rest assured that I am looking through the policy pages to find the proper place to report him, and inquire about the fairness of your actions in handling this matter. Good day. --Koolabsol (talk) 10:20, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- It's not a false accusation as the diffs clearly show. It's not vandalism to remove a {{coi}} tag, especially when you didn't bother indicating why there was a conflict of interest on such broad topics as those. As for me "purposely ignoring you", that's a load of bollocks. I haven't ever purposely ignored you. This is very clearly an editing dispute, not a case of vandalism, and you should therefore (as I indicated above), follow the directions for resolving a dispute. Regarding the timing of my actions, of course I didn't do anything until I was made aware of the issue. That's how things work here. I'm not omniscient, so there's no way I could look into an issue until someone else made me aware of it. I get requests to look into something fairly regularly. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:48, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- It is "a load of bollocks" to assume I reported him for vandalism because of him removing the {{coi}} tag I added to those articles. That is what he told you, and that is what you believe. This is very clearly "Using policies and guidelines to build (or push) a patently false case that some editor is editing in bad faith, with the 'evidence' for this itself being an obviously unreasonable bad-faith interpretation of that person's action. This is more often categorized as a breach of the policy assume good faith, and in particular, repeated unjustified "warnings" may also be viewed as a breach of civility." Going over said editors contributions I find that there are some causes for concern. I'm not accusing said editor of anything yet, I am just requesting that his contributions be looked over to make sure that he is not purposely degrading the quality of Wikipedia. That you would take such an offense at me doing so really calls your integrity into question. --Koolabsol (talk) 12:08, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I have never seen Farix do anything to purposely degrade the encyclopedia in the four years he's been here. Not even once. I think I have a pretty good handle on how he edits since we often work in the same areas and often work together on things. Unless he has a sudden personality change (which is unlikely, all things considered), he's not going to ever do anything to damage it. We've had our fair share of disagreements on things here, too, so it's not like I'm playing "Yes Man" to him. You reported him to AIV directly after he removed those COI tags, so what am I supposed to think your reasoning is for doing it? You keep butting heads with him, and (from my view) goading him to try and get him upset and acting out of passion rather than reason. You need to calm down, back off, and evaluate exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish here. Yes, you've made good edits here, but I find far more questionable actions on your part than on his. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:08, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- My major cause for concern is that said user has quite a bit of reversions on their contribution history. I have dealt with vandals and whatnot before and I do not revert as many edits. Since you say that this user is not harming Wikipedia I will take your word for it and remind you that vouching for another user also puts your own reputation on the line. This case is not black and white and I honestly do not want to put much work into it, if this user is a problem then it will come to light sooner or later. One last thing though, unless you want to strike out your recent warning towards me I will look at it as WP:GAME and act accordingly. --Koolabsol (talk) 00:58, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

- As I wrote there, the article was deleted due to failure to find multiple reliable sources which can verify enough information to meet any of the notability requirements. The sources provided there were either not reliable, not significant covereage, or neither reliable nor significant coverage. Hi! Just a quick note that when you removed the backlog tag from UAA (here), it threw the bot off. Instead of removing it, you can replace {{adminbacklog}}

. I'm familiar with it since someone I know did the same thing a few weeks ago. Cheers! TNXMan 00:51, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

The information presented there was factual (company name, location, industry, etc.) and, where it could be said to be "promotional" was cited with appropriate web based references. We respectively request that the page be restored and that we be advised of any particular items deemed to be of a promotional nature so they may be addressed. Thank you!WildWomenWin (talk) 17:48, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Accounts are allowed to be used by one person only, not controlled by a group. Your use of "we" here indicates your account is being used by more than one person, or being operated on behalf of a group. This may cause your account to be blocked.
- As for the article, I've userfied it for you at User:WildWomenWin/Desire2Learn so you can work on it until it's no longer promotional. You should ask the person who tagged it why they thought it was promotional. I was just processing the tagging. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 18:31, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- I was using the term in the "royal we" sense :-) ha-ha! Appreciate you userfing the page so I can work on it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.217.106.228 (talk • contribs) 21:04, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
