Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.
Feel free to continue to come to me for advice on fictional topics, especially if you don't want to continue looking silly. AfD'ing things like that makes me waste my time to make you look bad. That's a lose-lose. Jclemens (talk) 01:33, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:
Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.
Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.
So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Godot13, Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth13:16, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sim Sang-jung, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Justice Party. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
Hey Piotrus... here's a proposal: You stop AfD'ing things that have a good redirect target, and just redirect them. Then, if someone reverts you, come ping me about it and I'll help you find sources, or help with the AfD. When you're nominating fictional elements--100% of which have been mergeable--for AfD, you're taking away the limited time I have to spend in Wikipedia improving articles. Go through my other contributions for the past few months, and see what else I would be doing if I didn't have to be constantly demonstrating that you don't WP:BEFORE adequately. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 04:57, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Did you know that you can review your changes visually?
When you are finished editing the page, type your edit summary and then choose "Review your changes".
In visual mode, you will see additions, removals, new links, and formatting highlighted. Other changes, such as changing the size of an image, are described in notes on the side.
Click the toggle button to switch between visual and wikitext diffs.
The wikitext diff is the same diff tool that is used in the wikitext editors and in the page history.
You can read and help translate the user guide, which has more information about how to use the visual editor.
A new wikitext editing mode is available as a Beta Feature on desktop devices. The 2017 wikitext editor has the same toolbar as the visual editor and can use the citoid service and other modern tools. Go to Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures to enable the ⧼Visualeditor-preference-newwikitexteditor-label⧽.
A new visual diff tool is available in VisualEditor's visual mode. You can toggle between wikitext and visual diffs. More features will be added to this later. In the future, this tool may be integrated into other MediaWiki components. [1]
You can now use your web browser's function to switch typing direction in the new wikitext mode. This is particularly helpful for RTL language users like Urdu or Hebrew who have to write JavaScript or CSS. You can use Command+Shift+X or Control+Shift+X to trigger this. [3]
The way to switch between the visual editing mode and the wikitext editing mode is now consistent. There is a drop-down menu that shows the two options. This is now the same in desktop and mobile web editing, and inside things that embed editing, such as Flow. [4]
The Categories item has been moved to the top of the Page options menu (from clicking on the icon) for quicker access. [5] There is also now a "Templates used on this page" feature there. [6]
You can now create <chem> tags (sometimes used as <ce>) for chemical formulas inside the visual editor. [7]
Tables can be set as collapsed or un-collapsed. [8]
The Special character menu now includes characters for Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics and angle quotation marks (‹› and ⟨⟩) . The team thanks the volunteer developer, Tpt. [9]
A bug caused some section edit conflicts to blank the rest of the page. This has been fixed. The team are sorry for the disruption. [10]
There is a new keyboard shortcut for citations: Control+Shift+K on a PC, or Command+Shift+K on a Mac. It is based on the keyboard shortcut for making links, which is Control+K on a PC or Command+K on a Mac. [11]
Future changes
The VisualEditor team is working with the Community Tech team on a syntax highlighting tool. It will highlight matching pairs of <ref> tags and other types of wikitext syntax. You will be able to turn it on and off. It will first become available in VisualEditor's built-in wikitext mode, maybe late in 2017. [12]
The kind of button used to Show preview, Show changes, and finish an edit will change in all WMF-supported wikitext editors. The new buttons will use OOjs UI. The buttons will be larger, brighter, and easier to read. The labels will remain the same. You can test the new button by editing a page and adding &ooui=1 to the end of the URL, like this: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:Sandbox?action=edit&ooui=1 The old appearance will no longer be possible, even with local CSS changes. [13]
such fun being meta. anyway, thanks for the headsup regarding this article. i found a reference, much to my own surprise, and kind of linked it (both directions) into what i consider its notability factor, i.e. the use of cables for stability in bike frames. which in its turn led to my impression that the whole concept of "bracing" with/without cables is terribly fragmented on wikipedia. so i did some mucking around in disambigs and see alsos, but probably will do more later. which will probably involve more linking to the pocket bikes page, maybe... anyway, removed the deletion notice, for now. thanks again. Gzuckier (talk) 21:14, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Aldus PhotoStyler, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the file. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Pavlor (talk) 16:16, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Hi, I have removed the prod tag you placed on Holoverse, as it was undeleted on May 8 ([15]) and per policy is ineligible for prod. I did this on procedural grounds only, and would not object to nominating this article at AfD. Thanks, —KuyaBriBriTalk17:25, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
Why, exactly, do you continue nominating notable things for deletion? I've taught you to fish, and yet you don't appear to do even the most basic searches expected by WP:BEFORE. I've offered to pre-review fictional topics for you; you never do. What motivates you to behave in such an impolite manner? How can I motivate you to work collaboratively and follow best practices? Whatever that takes, it is almost certainly less work and less damaging to the encyclopedia than trying to clean up after your various inappropriate fictional element nominations... Jclemens (talk) 05:04, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
– Thanks for the response. Yes, either an admin or an experienced uninvolved closer. I see that the "Question:Deletion" subsection is tagged with RFC. That can be still open, while the remainder above the subsection can be closed. If you can need just one closer, you can go to WP:ANRFC. If more than one closer, best to request it at WP:AN. Thoughts? --George Ho (talk) 15:02, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello, I've come across some articles you've nominated for deletion via proposed deletion. I just wanted to give you a heads up that the common best practice is to place deletion tags (speedy, prod, or AfD) at the very top of the article, before any maintenance tags. I have moved the tags you placed on Jedipedia.net and HashiCorp, as they were below the maintenance/problem tags. This is not a terribly big deal, since you still put the deletion tags at the top of the articles before the article text, but as I said before it's a common best practice.
Also it's not a good idea to embed an AfD tag within a {{multiple issues}} template, as the AfD tag gets obscured. I've moved the AfD tag you placed on Holoverse out of the {{multiple issues}} group and to the top of the article. Again, not really against policy as far as I know, just not good practice.
Since you're involved in nominating articles for deletion and adding maintenance tags to articles, and you've been around a while, I'd suggest enabling Twinkle on your account. It's completely optional, but it makes nominating articles for deletion and adding maintenance tags a lot easier. Thanks for your efforts to improve Wikipedia. —KuyaBriBriTalk15:55, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I see your comments on the page I created.
"I prodded it with the following rationale: "The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. " It was deprodded by User:Nicacedric (WP:SPA, creator) with the following rationale "Thank you for your feedback or concern regarding notability. I respectfully but strongly disagree - please look at the 8th reference to see one of the strongest links proving that the information is verifiable and written by a third-party leader". I am not impressed by reference 8, a website with a title like http://searchsoftwarequality.techtarget.com seems almost to be saying 'we review whatever you pay us for'. TechTarget "sells marketing programs and data analytics services for targeted sales and marketing efforts". Marketing, aka spam, is what this entry is. Per WP:CORPSPAM, this is a good example of Yellow-Pages like company spam. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:56, 23 May 2017 (UTC)"

DYK review on Cenker
Thank you for the positive review. I request that e Columbia link not be added however. In fact adding any other links (like to RCA) would be a mistake. The reason is that if someone follows the Columbia link (or any other) from the hook to another article they will not see anything about the info I used in the hook. The Columbia article for example is a general article about that Space Shuttle. There is not even anything about Bob Cenker there, never mind anything about the narrowly averted explosion. If they are interested in details on Columbia, once they are reading the Cenker article, there are plenty of links not only to Columbia but other related items in the Cenker article, including the article for that specific shuttle mission, the Space Shuttle Program, NASA, RCA, etc. Thanks again! Thanks for uploading File:Janowadolina.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Proposed deletion of Florence Gabrielle Abiola Adeniran
Hi Piotr,
For your consideration, this article meets criteria of General Notability and Notability (Biographies) because, in a country with the seventh largest population in the world (Nigeria, 186 million) and where female empowerment remains challenging, the person is the FIRST Nigerian woman to achieve national success at the highest institutional levels in the medical field which remains dominated by men and beginning at a time (1953) when such success was extraordinary. This is verifiable.
For people, however, rather than notability, the person who is the topic of a biographical article should be "worthy of notice" or "note" – that is, "remarkable" or "significant, interesting, or unusual enough to deserve attention or to be recorded" within Wikipedia as a written account of that person's life.
To have been the only woman in medical school in West Africa from 1948 to 1953 is highly remarkable.
Any indigenous surgeon who was performing operations in West Africa in the 1950s is worthy of notice. There were so few.
This person was notable and remarkable enough to be photographed and published in Life Magazine (May 4, 1953), a reliable source, independent of the subject and the glossy magazine Wikipedia of its day.
This person is significant, whether dead or alive. It is incidental that the subject is alive.
The person is regarded as an important figure among peers and successors.
This person is well-known to have contributed greatly to the knowledge and management of malnutrition in maternal and child health among casualties during the Nigerian Civil War (1967 - 1970), a major historical event where between 500,000 and 2 million civilians died from starvation.
This person is very important to the history of women breaking boundaries per se.
The article has reliable information on the subject.
The article has been edited to be more neutral, verifiable, and encyclopedic about the person.
The article is sourced by sufficient reliable sources, independent of the subject. It should be borne in mind that 60 years ago and until recent times, record-keeping in the part of the world where the person is mainly situated has been historically poor. Internet upload of published sources remains scant.
Inline citations have been added to the article's list of references, related reading and external links.
Wikipedia appears to have few, if any, editors from West Africa who would readily understand the notability and nuance of this person among internet users in that part of the world. Some regions just happen to have more dedicated writers. Not to have this article because the person is perceptibly unknown or not well known among usual editors and usual readers encourages systemic bias on Wikipedia.
A couple of requests, Piotr:
(1) Kindly help to improve this article by further editing it to be more neutral and encyclopedic.
(2) Kindly advice where to look for further sources to improve the article.
Whilst the references which I added on this are admittedly few, the concept itself is (as far as I know) unique, and as it now seems reasonably established within the Edinburgh arts scene, I feel the concept of combining these artistic fields is noteworthy in its own right and likely to be expanded. The article is specifically written to focus upon the concept rather than the current cafe which houses the concept. There is a lot more newspaper and magazine coverage of the idea but I did not add all as it mainly repeated the main themes. Does it help if I add more of these references?? --Stephencdickson (talk) 11:35, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
I guess I understood what was the problem with references and made corresponding edits.
Hope the article is fine now.

This would involve evaluating a translated article on the English Wikipedia by comparing it to the original Polish article, and marking it "Pass" or "Fail" based on whether the translation faithfully represents the original. Here's the reason for this request:
There are a number of articles on English Wikipedia that were created as machine translations from different languages including Polish , using the Content Translation tool, sometimes by users with no knowledge of the source language. The config problem that allowed this to happen has since been fixed, but this has left us with a backlog of articles whose accuracy of translation is suspect or unknown, including some articles translated from Polish. In many cases, other editors have come forward later to copyedit and fix any English grammar or style issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the translation is accurate, as factual errors from the original translation may remain. To put it another way: Good English is not the same as good translation.
If you can help out, that would be great. Here's a sample of the articles that need checking:
All you have to do, is compare the English article to the Polish article, and assess them "Pass" or "Fail" (the {{Pass}} and {{Fail}} templates may be useful here). (Naturally, if you feel like fixing an inaccurate translation and then assessing it, that's even better, but it isn't required.) Also please note that we are assessing accuracy not completeness, so if the English article is much shorter that is okay, as long as whatever has been translated so far is factually accurate.
If you can help, please {{ping}} me here to let me know. You can add your pass/fails above, right next to each link, or you may indicate your results below. Thanks! Elinruby (talk) 00:16, 9 June 2017 (UTC) Elinruby (talk) 00:26, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
@Elinruby: Done. If there is a list of backlog for Polish translation, please post at WT:POLAND. But in some cases, like the Hamlet article, as well as for Agnieszka Popielewicz, it is clear that it was not a machine translation, but a well done translation, so the backlog seems to have a lot of false flags; making us review those articles is a waste of time, I think. Notes: in JJK article I didn't touch the physic science terminology. I also c/e Góra Świętej Anny (Krzeszowskie Wzgórza), probably created by the same editor as did GZ and the Krzeszowskie Wzgórza articles. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here07:37, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
I kind of agree with the waste of time comment, but the alternative was seeing them deleted. So I thank you for your patience with the matter.. essentially someone got the idea that anything that used the CTX tool was garbage, and while there was in fact some garbage created, it was in my opinion no more so than in articles that did not use this tool. But I don't speak Polish at all and so could not speak for these articles. Thank you for your time and I will pass along your assessment. Elinruby (talk) 02:42, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your help
I hope I can ask you for help in the future on additional contributions, as they will all be re Poles. Is there a way I can save your talk page for future communication...the advice of using drafts first..simple but excellent...

Piotrus
I have been fighting a lonely battle for Poland. I have produced one book in English, and am finishing a second. And there are two large project in conjunction with the Sikorski Institute. I truly believe than in typical Polish fashion it is hard to get the Poles to get their stories out there. The West has little understanding of Poland, and partly because there is not enough information out there. And as you say Wikkipedia is the place of the future, and present. Which is why I started this effort. And yes its a bit discouraging to have so many beat one up. I will try to continue and not give up. But many comments are not very logical. There are plenty of Wikipedia pages out there with little importance or few references...I will join the Poland desk. Again it is all a matter of persepctive. A mid level US dimplomat in the State Dept will have his page but will be uninteresting to Poles, and will not have a page in Polish Wikipedia. English Wikipedia should be seen not exclusively as a US domain...its where most worldwide info should be...so dificil to measure under an " American" viewpoint. --Gzegosh (talk) 10:48, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
Witam
Forgive me for so many questions..I have been involved actively in Wikipedia for less than a month, and so have just begun the learning curve, and feel a bit blind, and groping my way along.
1. I have now various pages up for review and wonder when their fate will be decided: Aleksander Piotr Mohl, Karol Hutten-Czapski(seems like will not be deleted...but still does not appear in a google search),and in the draft box as you suggested, Francis Stanislaw Hutten-Czapski. Could you take a look at these three to see where I stand with them? The complaint of not enough references for Mohl I think is more than satisfied now...at least I hope so..must be over 30 refs.
2. Cant find where to add watch list on WP Poland..obviously dont want to put myself on list of Talks as editor, as I know so little.
3. I have asked various times on how to get into edit categories or actual references...
, which I guess is the template...but as I say cant figure out how to access it, to make revisions or additions.
4. My idea is to start building on the Czpaski family, which I know and have some references in my library. There are many Polish patriots in that family that are not included in Wikipedia(Bogdan/Emeryk Augustus, Maria, etc)
5. I also would like to help re military subjects, but when I check out specific pages, is that there are editors that have overwhelmingly more knowledge than I do. SO not so sure how much help I can be
Not sure why your reply to me dosent appear here. I thank you again for your guidance. Obviously your cleaning up of the references looks ten times better...As I have said I just cant figure out how to access the individual refs to edit them. I have been going around in circles. If I go to Karol Czapski, and I press the main page edit button...all is accesible...except the refs..which appear as Reflist without showing the individual refs..I cant figure it out. I use URLs directly to imbed the ref, because I cant access the detail below the ref heading, and therefore cant type in the description and link the URL in the ref detail...so i do the shortcut of inserting the URL alone. I would like to clean up Karol as you did Francis. Following your advice went to User:Zhaofeng Li/reFill page..and it suggested paste Cleanup-bare URLs on the bottom of the refs...I really would like to be less of a bother and at the same time more productive. I am not a young man, and do not have enough expertise or techincal experience or understanding to follow all the lingo. I will try to follow your suggestions. I do have the editor accepted. I see you apparenly left the Pilsudski Institute. An uncle of mine used to work there, Francis Pusloski. But that was many years ago, he passed away in the 90s. On the talk page in the help page I asked if there was anyway to hire a Wikepedian editor or expert to help out on this project. And by the way you are right..leaving Mohls page open..has helped me, also into delving deeper into research...which has been an interesting experience....Icewhiz found an interesting reference..of some disciplinary action against Mohl in 1942, and I wonder if it is a consequence of the Donovan leak. I am contacting the Hoover Institute to try to get into that file.
Got it...got the bit re the references...I finally got it...I didnt realize you had to edit in the body of the text and not in the list of refs...I laos as I said...am a dinasaur compared to you guysprobably the oldest guy contributing to Wikiepdia..or close to it!
No need to reply here (or at all if you disagree), but I've dug up another of the "Open Access in..." articles which may be a sensible merge target for a sentence or three. BigHaz - Schreit mich an08:16, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
Citrus Pay article is satisfying all the wiki guidelines including notability and neutrality and has good sources and is known and famous fintech company in India. Which also got acquired through one of the highest all cash transaction deals.
Please mention exactly what triggered to delete this article move for this one.
I learn that you are one of the super active and most active Wiki contributors. I can't help but say that your marked for deletion/deletions/redirects of Citrus Pay, Little Eye Labs, FINO PayTech, Paytm Payments Bank etc are in poor taste. Either you did not spend time to Google about the subject of those articles for relevance and notability or you are not aware of the companies mentioned in those articles or the business value/notability of those companies in Indian context or this is a pure case of prodding in connection with the article discussions of a previous another article (Id fresh foods). [where the majority who might know about the company (Indian context) have voted to KEEP].
I believe marking these articles as stub would have been more than necessary if you were unsure about the relevance. I would like to bring it to the attention of the people who might have a neutral and unbaised view about the articles mentioned above with some regional wiki members (to help with context and the following article's need to exist interms of influence in the economy/culture) can also voice their opinion about the relevancy. I hope you point me to the right people, links to take this conflict resolution forward. Thank you.
PS: I totally respect the vast contributions you have made to Wiki community and wish to do achieve even a fraction of you did, nothing personal here. The work you do here, the efforts you put in and the time to dedicate is highly commendable. Theaphorist (talk) 11:43, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.
Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.
As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Oleg Bezuglov for deletion
Dear Piotrus,
I have added more facts and sources to the Oleg Bezuglov article. I was wondering if you read my justification points for matching the WP:MUSICBIO criteria, and whether you still think the article deserves to be nominated for deletion? Thanks!
Fiddler1114:49, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi Piotrus! Thank you for providing your input on the first AfD for Amos Lim on 15 December 2016. The article was deleted on 23 December 2016. Unfortunately, the article was recreated by a disruptive user and I am nominating the article again for its 2nd deletion. Please kindly proceed to the AfD and voice out your opinion on whether the article should be deleted, again. Thanks! DerricktanJCW (talk) 02:36, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Xwt, which you proposed for deletion. I think this should not just disappear from Wikipedia, but I'm not sure what would be the right thing to do with it and currently have no time to do any "research". I would leave this to somebody who knows better/can invest time. Constructive would be to express proposals on the talk page and template it further.. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the file. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!
On 2 July 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mead in Poland, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. "I am not going to waste more time citing further examples, but I've seen this happen enough times. Someone (me...) references sentences. Someone else copyedits the article, removing what they think of are excess citations. AND/OR Someone else breaks paragraphs, creating unreferenced ones. People complain, article is seen as unreferenced, even through someone either took the time to properly reference every sentence (or didn't...). Teeth grinding ensues. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:08, 30 September 2013 (UTC)"

Hello! I'm interested in helping out in the Poland portal, but I'm new to contributing to Wikipedia so I don't really know where to start or where to go to connect with others also working on it. From what I can see you seem to be one of the main contributors in the area, so I thought I'd ask you for help. Do you have any advice? I'm up for pretty much anything, but especially geography, history, and music (particularly classical, traditional, and patriotic). Dziękuję! UninventiveWithUsernames (talk) 15:36, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
I've reverted you again with Special:Diff/790193388 in article Nyaa Torrents. The edit summary box was a little short for this, but I'll point out multiple issues with your edit:
In the following weeks seems to be original research, not included in the reference cited and thus broadly interpreted. The date of updated publication may also shift well into the future, which also makes this claim potentially unreliable/unverifiable.
No other reports in computer media have seemingly taken note of the clones listed. Compare to isoHunt article in example, where [o]ne of them — isohunt.to — became a de facto replacement of the original site.WP:VERIFIABILITY is in question again. Likely WP:SELFPUBLISHED or WP:USERGENERATED, no information available of authorship or editorial policies there. If torrents.me was notable, it would probably have its own Wikipedia article – currently, it does not.
The website (torrents.me) seems to promote self-interests, such as a VPN service (an ad disguised next to the search?) and their own search engine for torrents.
I have removed your submission at WP:3O. After reviewing the Talk page for the article in question, I note that there has not been a thorough discussion there. Please be aware that there must be significant discussion at the Talk page as a prerequisite for requesting a third opinion. If you feel that further discussion at the Talk page currently will not be productive, I would invite you to consider other forms of dispute resolution. Thank you for your understanding. I appreciate your feedback on my Talk page about my recent articles. I was not aware there is a T:TDYK area, and when I have the opportunity to work on those articles more, I might need some help if I choose to add them. Thank you for your encouragement.Al Leluia81 (talk) 13:43, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
An article you recently created, Bonzai, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Nevermind, mistake on my part, please ignore. — InsertCleverPhraseHere01:51, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add your source(s).
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
Piotrus, could you please continue your review of this nomination, at least to the point of adding whatever icon you feel is appropriate? Also, if there is more that the nominator needs to do, please be sure to specify what that is. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:14, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Well I think that shows how easy titling issues can be when the "English name" socks aren't present. But, if you don't mind this comment, it would help if Polish editors took a broader view of this problem on en.wp. The "English name" nuisance affects other articles too. It would be nice if Polish editors also took an interest in Spanish, Serbian etc titles - the "English name" socks certainly do. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:11, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
At Talk:Antifa there is a discussion about whether a social movement can be classified as an organization. I took a look at the article Organization and as someone who has studied a bit of organizational theory I think it's dreadful. Sections that don't match their main article, sections that are nonsense, etc. I'm also not sure about the definition. I rather like the definition in this version but I can't source it. Or rather I can, it seems to have been used in a number of books - published after it was added to our article. Typical. But it's been changed since.
I don't know what to do about the article. I'm tempted to gut it. I wish I could find a mainstream definition for the lead also.
Back to Antifa - one issue was the infobox. There don't seem to be any for political or social movements.
None of this might interest you of course, so feel free to ignore it all! It's not a high priority for me in any case. But you're the only one I can find who seems to have had some interest in the area. Doug Wellertalk09:40, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

We talk about topic many kinds but there are definite and many explanation.
So we think what we choose and finally select korean language '국뽕' 'Gukbbong'
'Gukbbong' is a compound of nation and philopon.
We use this word in many interesting situation.
So we will search this word's birth, reference, social problem and so on.
How do you think about this? If we need a additory things, give us advise. Thank you. Have a nice day — Preceding unsigned comment added by 박혁춘 (talk • contribs) 00:30, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

- English Wikipedia article(EW): The topic of EW which we selected is the Spirited Garden. The 'Spirited Garden' is a famous tourist attraction in Jeju-do which former presidents of Korea, and well-known people from all over the world visited. There is no Wikipedia article about this, though it is known as one of the most beautiful garden in the world. So we will make new page.
- Korean Wikipedia article(KW): We will start to write new article about Erving Goffman's theory in his book, ' The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. ' He said that when an individual comes in contact with another person, he or she attempts to control or guide the impression. We think Goffman's theory is appropriate to explain the behavior of individuals in the globalization phenomenon that many people all over the world can be connected and communicate with each others through Facebook(SNS) today.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Cyber security. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Cybersecurity. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Cybersecurity. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. giso6150 (talk) 01:37, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

@Piotrus (talk·contribs) Hi Piotrus - I apologize for being both representing a corp and for SPA -- my other account has my edits on my personal interests, and I didn't want to mix those. I know lacking other references hurts this account's credibility. I believe I am editing in good faith, and I do think the company is at a notable scale that warrants a Wikipedia page. I'd request that you look at pages of other companies in the industry, and ask if all of those pages would also be justified for an AfD. Smaller company examples: Verbling, Preply, Memrise. Larger or comparably-sized companies: Duolingo, Wyzant, VIPKID. Their pages are generally worse in both neutrality and in notable non-PR references. I am also trying to understand what is the threshold for notability. I believe italki is notable enough (as are those other companies and pages). Kshanghai (talk) 08:29, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

She is, in fact, a notable pianist, as her many awards show. You need to reconsider this by carefully reading her awards and repertoir, which includes Beethoven's Appassionnata (one of the most difficult works ever written for piano), and many of the most complicated works of the notable pianist Franz Liszt and Chopin. Hello Piotrus! The main purpose of article about "RadioBOSS" is to provide general information about the software to people. Provided that Wikipedia has lists of internet radio software, or radio automation software, why not list RadioBOSS there, as it's a perfect fit into those categories?
RadioBOSS is very well known in its own niche and it's been around for a long time, almost 15 years. I can provide more links to sites related to the topic where RadioBOSS is reviewed or discussed or job vacancies where "RadioBOSS knowledge" is a requirement, if needed.
Just to say thanks for raising the TfD. As the editor who started this (rather quiet) debate, I'd like to contribute but I don't know the subject well enough to give an opinion. (I was just in there to fix bad links such as STX.) Certes (talk) 10:47, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

But, when we write the article about this, we are afraid that this tourist attraction is managed by private agencies(it could be advertisement and promotion problem) although it is famous. So we selected other subject, 'oreum(오름)' It is a rising small defunct volcanoes in the Jeju island. There are some famous tourists. There is no article about 'oreum' so we'll create new one and we also confirmed some materials and journals about it. We hope to listen to your opinion and get some feedback.--175.223.44.17 (talk) 08:30, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
Hello prof Pioturs.
This is byungdo jung who graduated hanyang few years ago.
I am studying theology and philosophy in catholic univ of korea.
I've learned precious, fantastic subjects in here.
Sometime I saw that there is no online archive about my new major, though we already had thousands tons of paper book.
So I plan to edit some korean wikipedia about theology and philosophy.
It must be a kind of struggle, though, also become a devotional work as well.
I will do my best in here and please help me when I need your advice.
Hi Piotruś,
Concerning the proposed deletion of Mr Hamburger and Berlin Döner Kebap I thought that instead of making separate articles I'll make a List of restaurant chains in Poland with short descriptions and statistics. I'll also do that for Da Grasso which I guess will also be deleted. I think that'll be a more pragmatic and centralised approach. Please don't delete the articles until Friday. I'll combine them into the article list today. Please tell me what you think. I should have done that beforehand instead of making small separate ones. I guess the Polish market for restaurants is too limited and too young to really provide notability to these arrticles I made. Apologies. I'll get back to doing History and geography articles instead. All the best. Arbustum (talk) 09:45, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. Were editors attracted by the cash prizes offered for the first time this year, or were these irrelevant? Do the rules and scoring need changing for the 2018 WikiCup? If you have a view on these or other matters, why not join in the WikiCup discussion about next year's contest? Hi Piotrus, I see you poked the article Doom9 for possible deletion based on notability. This is totally fair given the cites that were there. However, I believe Doom9 is notable, just was poorly cited, and I have added a few cites to try to address the issue. I will try to add some more in the near future. It's a short article but I'd be loathe to lose it entirely due to it's significance in financial services in Australia. Could it perhaps be merged into ISO 8583 with a redirect?

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. deleted article
Hi Piotrus,
thanks to your action, my article regarding "Port VLAN ID" was deleted. Is there any chance to get a backup of it for my own blog?
If it does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines, I would like to put it on my own Blog as the search term "Port VLAN ID" gives over 87.000 search results on Google.
Did your action eliminated aggregated knowledge from the internet forever?
Or is there any chance to get it from the history?
Thanks,

ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Piotrus. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
Greetings, Piotrus. Would you mind looking at my additions to the article please? Apparently there are insufficient sources - I am still working on them! Best wishes,--212.126.151.98 (talk) 19:16, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
Hello Piotrus, thank you very much for your effective response and getting the excellent Nihil novi on the case. It would be great to get the article to GA status. 2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting
As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Sandboxes and educational drafts are not exempt from speedy deletion except on notability grounds, although they may be given more latitude. I've deleted several spam drafts already today.
There is no way that this article meets WP:NOTADVERTISING. There are at least 20 spam links, not counting the multiple links to the company's own pages and social media, and the interminable lists of sales points that haven't got as far as being spam linked.
Most of the text is unsourced, although that isn't a reason for speedy deletion, or sourced to the company's own sites, which didn't necessarily support the referenced text! The character list looks like a mix of copyright violation and WP:OR

Avoid copyright violations. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. Simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
If it were not a student, I would have assumed such a spammy article involved a conflict of interest, but I'm happy to accept your assurances on that. Before attempting to write an article again, the student must make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that they can find independent third party sources. They must also read Your first article.
I'm not prepared to restore the deleted text, it's far too promotional, although I might be able to copy the table into a new neutral version if that would help Jimfbleak - talk to me?16:18, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

I think this needs a detailed search for newspapers in that period . His position in the union was effectively its chief office, and the Communist connection was usually widely reported. The Verona Transcripts is not an adequate source, not even for asserting he was a communist, but there should be others. The article on his union is awful beyond description, and seems to have been done by a succession of illiterate editors. I will either do it over or try to get someone else to do it.

Hello once again, Piotrus. As you've most likely noticed I rewrote the Battle of Warsaw (1705) article a few days ago (mainly because of an unstable online source, that switched between being dead and alive, and with no clear citations) and the user Gog the Mild has helped me with the copy edits of it. I want to push the article to FAC, but with this being my first time, I've been suggested to find a mentor first. I thought of you, as the creator of the article and with knowledge about the subject. Or if you don't want to, or can't find time, maybe give me some advice on the road as you're experienced here. Imonoz (talk) 01:43, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
Max Fleischer, Polish American
Dear Oli,
After wading through a lot of confusing and circular references, I hope I am reaching you. While I greatly appreciated your extended clarifications on the political divisions of the regions of the present Poland, the statement that Max Fleischer was a Polish-American and was "born and raised in Poland" is inaccurate. Also citing my book, THE ART AND INVENTIONS OF MAX FLEISCHER: AMERICAN ANIMATION PIONEER as the source of this claim is false. This is obvious since the link going Page 7 clearly shows that I made the distinction of Krakow in 1883 being under the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.
Max and his family never made any ethnic connections to Poland or being "Polish." They identified themselves by nationality as being "Austrian," and ethnically as being "Jews." At least four sources confirm these details. They include Max's birth record in the Rabbinatsamt in Krakow, Immigration Registration Records, Census Records, and Max's Naturalization Papers from 1934. In each case, the country of origin was stated as "Austria." These facts are supported by the family, with particular reference to Max's grand daughter, Virginia Kneitel-Mahoney, who has Max's Naturalization Papers. These facts are also concurred by Mark Langer, formerly of Carlton University in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
While I can appreciate the subtle differences resulting in changing political conditions and the dissolution of provinces and kingdoms of the time, my research shows that these regions were not formally incorporated as part of Poland until 1919, following World War I. By that time, Max had already begun his career in the animation field.
To say that Max was "born and raised" in Poland is also misleading in this use of the phrase. One can be born in one location and raised in another. In this case, both Max and Charles were born in Austria, but were brought to The United States, specifically, New York City at the ages of four and five respectively. As was the case with many who emigrated to the U.S. as small children during this period, their formative years were clearly spent in The United States. And their Citizenship and nationality was assumed under a condition of established residence, which was common at the time. In this respect, Max was American, having been "raised" in that culture, and mastering the English Language.
Another point about the Polish issue is that Poles had their own language and dialects as you should very well know. Max's parents originally spoke German, and quickly assimilated to American Culture and the English language. The distinction between Polish Jews and non-Polish Jews in the regions of Galicia were more a matter of social status, or class. Even though the residents were all essentially poor, there were distinctions even within this level. While it might be reasoned that the Fleischers might have distanced themselves from some lower level of this "Peasant Class," they seemed to be consistent in their honesty about who they were. For this reason, it does not seem credible that they would deny coming from a low class Polish background especially since there was no cultural connection to the Polish Culture in their history that is confirmed by the family.
Until the publishing of my book, Max's original birth name was not known. And while his parents were known as "William and Amalia (Amelia)," my research reveals the names of Aaron Wolf Fleischer and Malka Palaz. Why they changed their names is unknown. One might assume that they were escaping from something and assumed a "new identity." But there is nothing known in William's history or known character to indicate that this would have been the reason. Had he been trying to "escape" and "hide, he wouldn't have united with his brother Leon, reference in my book. So with the temptation to read some sort of drama into this situation, there simply is no evidence to support it, which brings me to another point of consideration.
You suggest that William "may have spent some time in Vienna." This is a broad generalization that is both vague as well as credible. While it is certainly possible that William may have had clients that brought him to Vienna, there has never been any acknowledgement of this coming from the stories that the family has. It is certainly possible that William may have "visited" Vienna, but to say that "he may have spent some time there" suggests that he took up residence. To date, we have no proof of this being true, and the family does not have any information to confirm this. Accordingly, there would be an interest in knowing what sources can confirm this as fact.
I might suggest that we consider tightening some of the additions about Poland especially since your addition seems a bit redundant and contradictory, especially when one of the opening sentences qualifies the time period of Krakow being then under Austria-Hungary. It might meet mutual satisfaction to add the clarification of(now Poland)to lessen any confusion here.
I'm glad that I am not the only one who finds the Wikipedia software unnecessarily difficult and confusing. That aside, "shoe-string budgets" have nothing to do with a badly designed web site. While I have issues with the Amazon software, at least it is clearer in its messaging process by comparison.
Thanks for your understanding over this confusion.
There is no disagreement that the Wikipedia web site and software is too confusing and time consuming to navigate or make simple responses. One would think that with so many people with assumed understanding of how effective web sites are constructed, this would could be much better than it is. Budget has NOTHING to do with this problem. I have a web site, and I can certainly attest to operating on "shoestring budgets." Yet, I have been selling DVDs and other products of interest on my web site for 20 years. Not that I am soliciting, but I'd encourage you to visit inkwellimagesink.com and see if you find this site to be more user friendly. Wikipedia is really not user friendly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RayPointer (talk • contribs) 21:11, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Re: Wiki web site/software
Hi!
Satisfying me, "the boss" is only one issue. There are MANY web site "experts", whether professional or "hobbyist" who seem quite qualified, and perhaps more qualified than whomever set up the Wiki web site and software. The fact that there are no standards and ultimate Administrator is a big problem. There is no guarantee of consistency and accuracy of Wikipedia entries if the "committee" is involved with everything. How do we know that certain committee members are qualified to be Editors? Based on some examples I've seen, some may not be. This is a prime example of the expression, "too many cooks spoil the broth."
If might be more beneficial that the committee review entries that are posted instead of imposing text that does not match the level of writing, consistency in narrative, and accurate research. This is particularly important in cases where others have added text with bad grammar, confused context, and incorrect historical timelines. And this has been the problem with some entries, with particular reference to the Max Fleischer over the past 10 years. Then by suggestion from my publisher, I re-wrote it last year, and it remained in tact until it was tampered with in October. And you have unwittingly been made privy to those issues due to a routing error of my response to the poster.
I am happy to pass these thoughts to Wikipedia provided they reach the key responsible people, not a committee. It does make one wonder what sort of organization this is, especially since they are listed as "Wiki Media" in San Francisco. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RayPointer (talk • contribs) 14:27, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Pál Hermann
Hi Piotrus.
I ask you for help because you helped me improve this wiki page considerably in the past.
Kleuske for some reason keeps insisting to move English and Dutch pages to Paul Hermann. As you say, too many cooks spoil the brothe.
My grandfather's used his birth name "Pál" for his music compositions, although he also used the westernized "Paul" when performing as a cellist. As all that is left of him today are his compositions, IMSLP and German/French/Hungarian wiki pages have accepted Pál, and I would like to undo Kleuske moving of the English and Dutch wiki pages to Paul, but she refuses (see her talk page). Also there was another composer Paul Hermann (1904-1970) active in Berlin, as is explained in all the Pál Hermann wiki pages explain. As cruel destiny will have it, this namesake of my grandfather was a Nazi composer.
The sources of the name Pál Hermann are my grandfather's birthcertificate, and the numerous manuscripts of his music compositions as made accessible through http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Hermann%2C_P%C3%A1l and also the recent scholarship in LA based Colburn School of Music in his name Pál Hermann as is the publicity cellist Clive Greensmith gives to Hermann's cello concerto.
