Greece article photos

[edit]

Hello Greco22. I think the photos are just fine. They are neither irrelevant nor too many. Other countries articles have many many more. Please dont erase them as they are absolutely relevant. Not one photo is irrelevant. If you think so, I would really like to know which of the photos you actually consider irrelevant. Please provide also relevant justification. I think is perfectly nice to have photos from around Greece since this is the Greece article. Its also perfectly fine to add photos you might consider proper, but on the other hand its not nice to erase photos. ThanksAvionics1980 (talk) 23:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again and thanks for the feedback. Nevertheless, please note the following: Athens Concert Hall regardless of whether it is private or public is the Athens Concert Hall, i.e. a major cultural building and its rightfully pictured in the relevant section. Panachaiko range or Full Moon over Oia are just photos from Greece. I dont think there is any need to delete them. You can add your own photos or even make alternations on where photos are being displayed or even at the format, nobody said otherwise. But deleting photos, is not a proper action I believe.Avionics1980 (talk) 11:22, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well excuse me for unearthing this one, but I believe I am facing the same issue. I strongly believe that Greece deserves more images AlbusTheWhite (talk) 05:15, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free images + rationale

[edit]

Hi Greco22. Your non-free image uploads all need to have a fair use rationale. As I can tell, it looks like you're uploading them without one. I've edited one to give you an example: File:Dimitrishorn.jpg. However, the rest of your uploads will need a rationale or will be eligible for deletion. Fair use rationale for File:Theodorospangalos.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Theodorospangalos.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 08:20, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Cacoyannis.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Cacoyannis.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. License tagging for File:Katinapaxinos.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Katinapaxinos.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:08, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Elytisodysseas.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Corinth vs Ancient Corinth

[edit]

We are trying to keep these two articles as separate as possible in order to maintain clear maintenance between the two. If we start moving ancient stuff into (modern) Corinth, there is no obvious place to stop. I tried to move the pics you had inserted into Corinth and found they were already in Ancient Corinth. Thanks for the attempt. Student7 (talk) 15:12, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can appreciate that Ancient Corinth, located separately from the modern city, is a tourist attraction. But the two cities (we had a prolonged discussion about this still available at the Corinth article) are separate. Buildings and streets in one are not truly located in the other. See WP:TOPIC. If the church is not in Ancient Corinth but in the modern city, I agree that it should be moved. That means we also have trouble (which we knew) with the Ancient Corinth article, but at least it is confined to that one article. We can discuss that problem, perhaps. Thanks. adding redlinked non-referenced names

[edit]

Hi -- I just cleaned up an article that had lists of names that were uncited and redlinked. You restored them, which is against our guidelines (without an article bluelink or an appropriate ref). I would suggest you self-revert. You can respond here, if you wish to chat.--Epeefleche (talk) 03:43, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with these requirement; if so, you may find these links to be helpful. Epeefleche (talk) 06:22, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Transferring names that do not belong has the same effect as adding names that do not belong. It appears that you have now done this on at least two lists yesterday. Thanks. You can reply here if you would like to reply at all.--Epeefleche (talk) 17:04, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

of course..., but maybe I dont understand exactly. When you say "that dont belong" what do you mean? Cause i took for example "laiko artists" and i put them at "laiko" article etc... if i added (I dont remember) one or two names myself ,i would be 100% sure to do it, cause i know well the greek music scene :) Anyway...(also I didnt restored anything on your edits...)

On lists of people, whether the entire article or within an article, each entry must either have an wikipedia article (ie, be bluelinked, not redlinked), or have a reference that reflects the person's notability, that is independent and a reliable source, and that reflects that the person belongs on the list. Adding any such names, or "moving" them to an article, is not within wikipedia guidelines. Tx.--Epeefleche (talk) 17:29, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Mimis Plessas has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. --Philly boy92 (talk) 18:18, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

--Philly boy92 (talk) 18:26, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your picture edits

[edit]

A very large proportion of your edits appear to be concerned with arbitrarily shuffling photographs around in articles, usually without giving any explicit reason for your choices, almost always without edit summaries, and often edit-warring over resulting disagreements (as for example again at Thessaloniki right now). Have you ever considered that this is actually not a very productive kind of editing? The choice of photos usually involves some element of personal taste, so having some editors go round continually changing pictures to their personal taste, on nothing but their individual whim, really does very little to improve articles in the long run. Especially in well-developed articles like Thessaloniki, where the number of possible candidate pictures to choose from is naturally large, this produces an excessive amount of activity in the edit history with very little or no real benefit for the quality of the article.

I'd ask you to give this kind of picture-shuffling a rest for a while. Especially in that article, you've been tinkering with the images incessantly for months now, with dozens of edits cramming yet more and yet more images into it and shuffling their placement around. It's simply not useful. Why don't you try to actually create some quality encyclopedic content instead for a change? If you do feel you must change pictures somewhere, the very least I'd expect of you is informative edit summaries explaining what you felt was wrong about the previous state.

Minor

[edit]

Hello! I have stumbled across some good edits you have made. I was, however, a bit surpriced that you had marked them as minor edits, when they certainly were not. Looking at your contributions list, I see that you mark almost all your edits as minor. This is considered poor etiquette in Wikipedia. It can be very confusing when you, as I often do, scan the history of an article, and it is not how the minor marking is supposed to be used. Please read WP:Minor. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Hi, User:Greco22, I noticed your revert. Why if I may ask so? Lotje (talk) 14:30, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Papadopoulos (biscuits) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Replaceable fair use File:Eftaxias.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Eftaxias.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Adam Black talkcontribsuploadslogs 20:44, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on BSB (clothing), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Panathinaikos departments

[edit]

Panathinaikos A.C. is the parent club. The name Panathinaikos AC used only for amateur departments of the club (except one old source of FIBA Europe).

The professional departments used Panathinaikos (FC, BC, VC) only. Do not confused with the names in greek (ΠΑΕ, ΚΑΕ, ΤΑΑ) Παναθηναϊκός ΑΟ. Also, do not confused with the Panathinaikos Basketball Academy who is owned by the parent club (Panathinaikos A.C.). Panathinaikos BC referenced in Euroleague Basketball website as Panathinaikos Athens (the other name of the basketball team) and only Panathinaikos in FIBA website .

Panathinaikos AC (Football, Basketball, Volleyball) does not exist in the official sources. That is "original research" and is not acceptable in Wikipedia. For more informations see Wikipedia:No original research. --IM-yb (talk) 13:38, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Use official sources please, not your opinion.

Logos

[edit]

It's better not to confuse the emblems of the companies (ΠΑΕ, like that [2]) with these amateur Fair use logos exist for identification reasons and we select the more representative version. --IM-yb (talk) 13:24, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that, the greek amateur club article links to the english PAS Giannina football article. For the kit of Panathinaikos, that colour is about many seasons, not only one. I want many time to change it. When I will find time I will do it. --IM-yb (talk) 19:59, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Maybe the problem is the darkness of the ground. More darkness [3] [4] and more luminous [5] [6], close to the colour of my file. --IM-yb (talk) 22:02, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ευχαριστώ Abudabanas (talk) 08:38, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Rochapanathinaikos.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". A tag has been placed on File:Heraclesold.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Kits and colors

[edit]

Tell me please, if you kindly, where is the shirt that you make (here), in the source (here)? Because I did not find it. --IM-yb (talk) 17:55, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Informationally, because I see that you have not searched the issue, the kit of AEK Athens in the 90s is complicated, because AEK had other kits in domestic competitions and other in the international competitions. Even the domestic competitions kits that seem to be the same, are not.
For example:
1. In the season 1997–98, AEK had the follow kits
You can make the test here
2. In the seasons 1993–95 and 1995-96, the away kits of AEK for the domestic competitions had differences, although they seem to be the same (distinguished by manufacturer - 1995-96 had kappa). 1993-95 away had black and 1995-96 away had white.
That kit you make (here), never existed. If you want to make the kits about that decade (90s) it is good to follow the sources, not only quote sources.
Concerning the dark color, I give the normal color of the jersey,
not that shown in the dark. --IM-yb (talk) 19:42, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

International kit

[edit]

The 1994-95 Champions League kit is here in the right deep yellow.

The 1997–98 Cup Winners' Cup kit is here, with the right yellow. You put that in 1993-95 and the away in 1996–98. That is wrong. AEK had 1993–95 and 1995-96 other kits. --IM-yb (talk) 20:37, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is advisable to be careful because the jerseys has significant differences between them. --IM-yb (talk) 20:37, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK I will add the kits. --IM-yb (talk) 21:36, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kit 1908

[edit]

The cycles of logo gives that color. --IM-yb (talk) 18:33, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aris kit

[edit]

I see that. This user follows the example of a Portuguese user, that he gives a simple color for all the kits (like here). I do not agree with that. I make some kits of Aris FC but I have not complete to upload the kits. The shirts of 10s about Aris FC are complicated. I don't belive that user want's to make problem. Simply he found a quick way to make the kits. If you will use sources and make the right changes and the other user don't follow this, we will make the right actions for that. --IM-yb (talk) 18:09, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Greece into Ottoman Greece. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 03:43, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Panathinaikos-football-seal.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Panathinaikos-football-seal.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:58, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PAOK

[edit]

I don't need to send you a message about adding references to the article. You're not it's owner, and I'm free to edit it, especially when the edits are conforming with key Wikipedia policies and guidelines. If other Greek football articles have unreferenced information that data should also be removed, but that's another matter. All material in this article needs to be encyclopaedic, and cited by independent, reliable sources, not subject to original research or synthesis. I would suggest you self-revert your recent edit, where you added back in loads of unreferenced material. Eldumpo (talk) 19:20, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone is free to edit Wikipedia, but properly referenced material (independent etc) should not normally be removed, but virtually all the material I removed was uncited. Eldumpo (talk) 20:44, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
All items need to be properly referenced. I haven't got an 'obsession' with the article, it's on my list, although I don't see the relevance of that. You've presumably edited quite a bit on it. Eldumpo (talk) 22:02, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at PAOK FC. GiantSnowman 21:00, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are still just adding in all the information from before, and reverting all my edits in one. Start by adding in one of the cited references you have. Do not continue to just mass add in unsourced material. Eldumpo (talk) 18:22, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some extra info on some of the problems with what you added in last night, starting with the first edit change. 1. 'Facilities' is listed at ref. 2. Season change is fine 3. Making up non-neutral text for sub-headings - where's the source? 4. Koudas info not at RSSSF source. 5. 'Period of decline' sentence not at RSSSF source 6. Re-adding an uncited para that has been tagged for 2 years 7. adding in uncited text about 2007-08. This is just the first few edits but hopefully is useful to help understand the issues. Please don't just re-add all these sections again. Eldumpo (talk) 18:37, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(talk) 23:23, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Paoki4 (talkcontribs) 22:01, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:StavrosSarafis.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:StavrosSarafis.jpg.

Thank you. Whpq (talk) 23:42, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Greece in the Balkan Wars, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Battle of Lemnos (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:17, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Manoshatzidakis.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Two non-free images of Hatzidakis are not needed for primary identification purposes per WP:NFCC#3a and WP:NFCC#8. I'm proposing this one for deletion becsause it appears to be lower in quality than File:Manos hadjidakis.jpg currently being used in the main infobox, but otherwise have no preference regarding which of the two should be kept.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:18, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Govvy and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Akrolithos, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Govvy}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Theodoros Veniamis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Uncited claims

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your work on Greek cuisine. However, I am surprised to see that as an experienced editor you are making uncited claims in these articles. I'd remind you of WP:V, the policy on verifiability: this is a core policy, on which the entire reliability of the encyclopedia depends, so it is, frankly, critically important for all editing work.

Certain items, like categories, are obviously not cited directly. However, you must not add categories that claim, for instance, that a food is Byzantine, when that is not even mentioned in the article. (If you are wondering whether the existence of another article, say on Byzantine cuisine, is sufficient evidence, then the answer is no, as "Wikipedia is not a reliable source" - the other article could be wrong, a hoax, vandalism, etc., so the only answer is to see what the evidence is in reliable sources, and cite that.) The correct approach is to make that claim in the article text, cite it to a reliable source such as a textbook, and then add the category. I do hope this is clear; it is embarrassing to have to mention such things to long-time editors, but it is essential if we are to maintain, let alone improve, the quality of the encyclopedia. Many thanks, Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:41, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can't understand your reaction. I didnt claimed any food of byzantine origin apart of them that are already mentioned in the relevant article. As for the edits in the mediterenean cuisine (which you reverted), I just added some dishes that are of Italian origin, taking a section created by another user. If you feel that need reference, it's ok,Greco22 (talk) 11:00, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Um, this was concerning the addition of "Category:Byzantine cuisine" at Melomakarono. I have no opinion on whether that claim is true or false, but it isn't right to add categories unsupported by cited text. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:03, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, just noticed about melomakarono, you are right that isn't for sure of byzantine origin Greco22 (talk) 11:05, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greek cuisine

[edit]

I have no objection to splitting off List of Greek dishes from the main Greek cuisine article, if that's what you're asking about. That's really just housekeeping -- we don't want articles to be too big.

That said, the article is in pretty poor shape. It repeats itself often, it includes a heavy dose of platitudes about diversity and influences, and it is overly wordy. I've taken a crack at improving it. See what you think. --Macrakis (talk) 16:24, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dimokratia (newspaper) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Dimokratia (newspaper), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
