Hi, just to let to know that Vidpro23 has added sources that has copyright on it. I told him to stop this by adding warnings but he continues to do it and ignores the warning I added. Could you block him for this? 86.15.93.32 (talk) 01:02, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- how is linking to a SEC filing a copyright violation? EvergreenFir (talk) 01:05, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, Vidpro23 keeps adding sources which is the name US Trademark Office. I told him to stop adding it back but he never listens at all. 86.15.93.32 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 01:08, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Again, why is it a problem to link to the Trademark Office or the SEC? These are government entities. EvergreenFir (talk) 01:10, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

SPI templates
Hey - I had to run out there, it was pissing down with rain here and my partner texted me while I was in the middle of handling that SPI case asking whether I could pick her up from campus in the car, so sorry I ducked out without doing a behavioural evaluation! Just wanted to let you know for future reference that DMacks is correct - the checkuser template is definitely preferred to any other in SPIs. It gives you all the links you need without needing to open any extra tabs - contribs, deleted contribs, run CU, look at the CU logs, CentralAuth on meta, it's all right there.
To put it into perspective, a typical SPI case with one or two potential socks might see me open between ten and twenty tabs to compare accounts with one another and the master. If I'm having to open extra tabs to get at the links I need, it just makes it even more difficult to get the cursor onto the right ones. (I just bought my first ever pair of reading glasses though, so maybe they will help...) Anyway, just thought I'd let you know for the next time. Summaries in episode lists
When writing plot summaries in episode lists in articles, is there really a minimum when it comes to how many words we should use? I ask this because I don’t understand some users when it comes to the matter. Rattatast (talk) 16:57, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Rattatast - Yes, according to WP:TVPLOT they should be 200 words or less EvergreenFir (talk) 22:27, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'm already familiar with that. The thing I'm concerned about is if a summary is under 100 words, why do some users remove and call it "copyvio" without any evidence? Here are a few cases I've seen: [1], [2], and [3]. They would even put hidden comments in series articles, claiming a summary of less 100 words would be deemed copyvio, and those comments would even cite MOS:TVPLOT (here's an example: [4]). But nothing in the MOS:TVPLOT page says it's copyvio to write something under 100 words. Rattatast (talk) 00:13, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

Returning Blocked User
A previous user that you banned, Omni-Edition, had returned to Wikipedia and was vandalizing the previous pages that he worked on. He didn't use a specific account, but rather these IP addresses: #1,#2, #3 & #4. Jinx354 (talk) 20:01, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

- If possible, might I suggest the page to be semi-protected for a bit? It appears that he's using different forms of IP to edit the page to his liking, as he did so earlier today. It might be ideal, as I have no idea how long he'll do it for. Jinx354 (talk) 22:48, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi this ip removed sourced information you reverted the edit to the edit they made on alevism

Hi, thanks for pointing out WP:WORDSASWORDS here. However, I'm not sure that the revert is warranted. The guideline exists to make the use–mention distinction clear in running text, which is not a concern with the article title. It doesn't appear to me that MOS:TEXT applies to article titles at all. For example, Beard (companion), which uses regular characters in the title and italic characters in the text, seems more intuitive. 162 etc. (talk) 17:31, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- @162 etc. Good point! I think the non-italics title change should be reinstated.
I'll do that now.Thank you for taking care of that! EvergreenFir (talk) 18:16, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

Tom Keating article
Hi Evergreen Fir,
I also like the (Early years) subsection headings (Art Classes, Navy tour) better since you changed them from from ALL CAPS to Sentence case. I'm a newbie; I'll assume this is the recommended convention going forward.
I am curious why you removed the word 'tour'. In my view, the single word version connotes a much broader topic than one man's war service. Candide1993 (talk) 18:11, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello Candide1993! Thank you for reaching out.
- Yes, the Manual of Style has a lot of rules and standards and, in this case, MOS:SECTIONCAPS says to use sentence case in section headers. No one expects a new user to know all of these, so please do not worry about making errors. The WP:WIKIGNOMEs will take care of things.
- Usually section hears are meant to be short and succinct . I have no problem with re-adding "tours" or something like "service". Feel free to re-add that if you think it better describes the section.
- If you have any questions, you are always welcome at the WP:TEAHOUSE where a host is there to help anyone. EvergreenFir (talk) 18:49, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks! Candide1993 (talk) 00:39, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

The editor at this IPv6/64 has resumed disruptive editing within hours after their one-month long block (which you gave them) expired today. Given their block history (72-hour, 1-week, 1-month), I think something more substantial is warranted. — Archer1234 (t·c) 17:19, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

- @DatGuy it was the best I could find. I dug around Commons for an hour and didn't find anything that looked great. This one looked odd and frankly ambiguous enough that it could become associate with a partial block. EvergreenFir (talk) 20:05, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Why did you block me?
I have no frame of reference as to why this IP address was blocked from editing wikipedia. I have intermittently edited on wikipedia over decades without such infractions against my use. I use references from classical texts as evidences regarding subject matter that is addressed. AbdulQuddus1 (talk) 10:50, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
- @AbdulQuddus1 your account is new and has never been blocked. If there is an IP that was blocked, it may not have been related to your editing as some IPs are shared. EvergreenFir (talk) 17:24, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.

Hello! I'm sure you're busy, but I was wondering if you'd mind elaborating on your response at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User: Richie wright1980, where you wrote that none of the behaviours in question are actionable. I'm not sure where that leaves things, you see. Thank you A.D.Hope (talk) 10:34, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Habeel Ahmad's spam
Hello. Regarding your comment here about my AIV nomination of user Habeel Ahmad, "This noticeboard is for obvious vandals and spammers only. Consider taking this report to Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. The links today do not appear to be spam. The blog author is different than the techuyslush one." This is an obvious spammer, due to the techslush links—and "the links today" were, yes, to a different site but, still, to his own content. See the citations added at [6][7][8]: All attributed to author Ahmad Habeel, the user himself. All spam. So I believe I had reported the user in the right place. Why was naming Hunter's daughter Navy Joan reverted?
Her name was several times in an article about Navy Joan in the New York Times! The name is absolutely public! Why then was it reverted? To help Joe and Hunter to deny her existence? —Menischt (talk) 17:06, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Menischt lol the last think I want to do is help Joe and Hunter. I recommend you refrain from accusing other editors of nonsense like that. I removed it because the source is an op-ed and thus not a reliable source. EvergreenFir (talk) 17:09, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello EvergreenFir,
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.
Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.
Suggestions:
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
Backlog:
Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023
Hello EvergreenFir,
- Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
- 2022 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!
Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js
to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.
Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023
Hello EvergreenFir,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Report of Suspicious Sockpuppet Account on Wikipedia - 2001:E68:540F:9AFC:65AA:5C21:C333:DAF2
Dear Administrator,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to report a concerning issue related to a suspected sockpuppet account on Wikipedia. The account in question, along with its associated IP address [2001:E68:540F:9AFC:65AA:5C21:C333:DAF2], has been displaying behavior that raises doubts about its authenticity and intentions within the community. It keeps reverting the original content of the article without explanation, and somehow changing the birth and death date. It's a concerning issue as there is no action taken against the IP address.
I kindly request your immediate attention and investigation into this matter to ensure the preservation of a fair and credible environment for all Wikipedia users.
Thank you for your vigilance in upholding the standards of the platform and for taking appropriate action to address this issue.
Best regards, Arthur Hirai (talk) 23:07, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – August 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2023).
Interface administrator changes
- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)
- The arbitration cases named Scottywong and AlisonW closed 10 July and 16 July respectively.
- The SmallCat dispute arbitration case is in the workshop phase.

My Thoughts on your message about "Disruptive Edits" for Uncle Grandpa
Dear EvergreenFir
It's nice that you feel a certain quest of justice against misinformation, but what you did to me was unfair
I wasn't trying to be disruptive, not even trying to edit for the sake of it
I was trying to edit a few credits to destroy the misinformation that "Wallace Shawn" played characters on Uncle Grandpa when that wasn't the case
Crazy Driving Man (Remo's Dad) from Uncle Grandpa may have been played by Paul Rugg in Secret Mountain Fort Awesome but Wallace Shawn definitely didn't play him in the actual show
He was actually played by Kevin Michael Richardson
If you can find proof that Wallace Shawn played any character on Uncle Grandpa other than "a wikipedia page said so", then maybe I'll believe you
and another thing, I checked the Secret Mountain Fort Awesome credits of the episode "5 Disgustoids and a Baby" and Litle Judy Jones was not played and was never played by Grey Griffin
She was actually played by Valery Pappas
Like I said with Remo's Dad, if you can find any evidence that isn't a Wikipedia page or some schmuck who makes a mockery of research, then maybe I'll believe you
Like I said earlier, I was never trying to be disruptive nor was trying to spread misinformation unlike the people that edit on the Uncle Grandpa Wikipedia page
I was trying to add new information that was found out on the HBO Max credits
I'm disappointed that you'd think I'd disrupt the page when I was trying to add to the page information for the actual credits
But I await your response and your attempt to prove me wrong, and I don't assume you attack me out of malice
Sincerely, Raftylolis, AKA Gangster Bugs Raftylolis(gangster bugs) (talk) 21:08, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

Cartoonito: rebranding or transitioning?
Hi, I saw you had a discussion with an anonymous some time ago on Cartoonito (Middle Eastern and African TV channel), about what Cartoonito could be, a transition from Boomerang or a replacement to Boomerang? You said a new page for Carttonito should be needed, but the anonymous insisted on the fact Cartoonito is not a new channel, but a transitioning. Same thing happened in CEE, Portugal, Middle East and Africa, Nordic and Turkey. In all those countries the one from Boomerang to Cartoonito is seen as a transition, not a re-brand. This could be a misunderstanding derived from the fact Cartoonito was initailly a block broadcasting on Boomerang in those countries and makes people understand Cartoonito is the same channel as Boomerang, just with another name.
Too bad Here in Italy (but even in UK, Ireland, France and Thailand) we have Boomerang and Cartoonito as two separate kids channels, coexisting in the same country:
- Boomerang is a kids-oriented channel with all Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry and Scooby-Doo stuff (also third parties), which moved to Cartoon Network on the countries above.
- Cartoonito is a pre-school channel, broadcasting Lucas the Spider, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go, Batwheels and Bugs Bunny Builders among other series.
For this last reason, I would propose the pages Cartoonito CEE, Portugal, Middle East and Africa, Nordic and Turkey should be splitted into two different Boomerang and Cartoonito pages for each feed. What do you think it's better? And why?
Yesterday I started a discussion about it on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Cartoonito: rebranding or transitioning?. But maybe I started that discussion on the wrong project, since nobody answered. If yes, where can I start iscussions like this? 79.21.5.118 (talk) 07:00, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
