Hello — I noticed that you proposed OpenMandriva for deletion. How would you feel about a Template:Merge to Mandriva Linux instead? That's the only other mainspace page that links to OpenMandriva. 50.181.30.121 (talk) 17:59, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Tor FBI Attack
I notice you reverted my edit again. You are mistaken. The IP address was leaked, the HTTP request was sent through Winsock() connect which isnt routed through the tor socks proxy hence exposing the true ip address to the server. Additionally, only a Single MAC address was sent, the SendARP() call is only executed once and one mac retrieved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drdevil44 (talk • contribs) 09:58, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

AfD needs more input
Hi.
There is a bit of Wikipedia work that I need help with. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/At (Windows) is relisted for the second time and seriously could use some additional input. But in this case, I myself cannot publicize the discussion, per WP:CANVASS, due to my earlier involvement. Would it be much trouble if you sent {{Please see}} to ten different Wikipedians?
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 18:53, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Codename Lisa: Hi! I invited following editors:
- The only criteria of choice were familiarity with AfD process and interest in software. I think it is enough for now, particularly given that another editor weighted in while I was doing it. Hope you are OK with this. BTW you could announce discussion at WT:WikiProject Computing, WT:WikiProject Software and WT:WikiProject Microsoft, which would be totally WP:CANVASS-compliant. Regarding recent closes at WP:RFD
Thank you for helping out WP:RFD recently with your closes of discussions. I just wanted to let you know know that when you have been performing these closes, one important step has been overlooked: removing the {{Rfd}} tag from the redirect after the discussion has been closed. Please refer to WP:RFD/AI for the complete instructions for closing RfD discussions for any other steps that may have been overlooked during these closes. But thanks again; with the backlog on RfD lately, any help with closing the discussions is greatly appreciated. Steel1943 (talk) 13:04, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

RfD nominations
I noticed that you nominated Am I Wrong CD 2 for RfD by hand, rather than using Twinkle. By itself, this is fine, but you didn't follow the instructions correctly when you did so. They were recently changed to require the content of the redirect to be passed as a parameter to the RfD template, rather than being placed under it. Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:44, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Speedy appeals
How am I supposed to appeal a bad speedy if the discussions are closed before discussion can start?
ovin to oven is unquestionably plausible so the speedy is bad. WhisperToMe (talk) 01:09, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- @WhisperToMe: I never saw this redirect: it was deleted an 8 AM, I just procedurally closed two RfD when saw redlinks instead of redirects. FWIW the very idea of speedy deletion is that no discussion is needed. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk•track) 03:16, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- The very point of my nominarions was that speedy deletion was wrongly used and therefore must be cancelled here and therefore the people who do speedies need to make note of this. Please see: Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2012 January 11#Nortwest Airways WhisperToMe (talk) 10:04, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

- That strategy was what I did with Nortwest Airways two ydears ago. Ill try DRV but consider what happened two years ago with the other one. - @WhisperToMe: And now we have a feast of bureaucracy – instead of keeping this hopeless mistake fixed you initiated 3 equally hopeless discussions. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk•track) 10:21, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Czaroff, it's 100% on you. When you close as wrong forum, it is your responsibility to open it at the right one. We are not a bureaucracy and we don't bite new editors, and if you close someone's discussion when it hasn't even been considered, you are penalizing a new editor for not understanding bureaucracy. If you're not willing to reopen the discussion in the proper place, then don't close the wrong forum discussion in the first place. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 05:11, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Oiyarbepsy: What new editor are you talking about? At any rate WhisperToMe with his Wikipedia account since 10 July 2003 and 378102 edits is not new editor. Why is it my reponsibility to babysit experienced editors when they are trying to be distuptive? - Knowing politics in Wikipedia has some perks: Once upon a time there was an image in Windows Media Player showing WMP playing a video of a woman. I took the image to FFD and argued that it would be wrong and perhaps against copyright to show the woman in the image. But the image was kept, after a painful week of me discussing. Two years later, I renominated that image, but this time I said: "This image is in violation of WP:NFCC#3a." That image was not even dignified with an FFD. It was deleted straightforward.
- Same goes for you: Your half-hearted "Wrong forum" proclamation was a magnanimous showing of the correct way to them. But it was wrong, because it failed to capture the immediate support of CL and made NH think you are using a technicality to deny him of his rightful right to enforce the Manual of Style. You must instead have posted (or immediately post) the following and let them find out about centralized discussion for themselves:
Not done: Firstly, Wikipedia:Manual of Style § Size and Wikipedia:Image use policy § Displayed image size are evidently talking about use of individual images in thumbnail format in the article, not this special use – or any other special use. Secondly, use of 300px is in force by an overriding policy: Wikipedia:Consensus § Reaching consensus through editing. Before 16 June 2013, articles had individually implemented 300px. An administrator then observed this wide consensus and enforced it by adding it to the infobox. As such, 300px fixed size now has the force of a clause of a Manual of Style and can even be added there if there is need. Changing this consensus requires demonstration of equally powerful consensus in it favor.
- And actually, all of this is true. He will try to cry foul and resist but a strong policy such as this and admin's seal of approval pretty much clinches the matter. I tell you, this guy is a politician, not a pro. Treating him like a pro is a mistake. The correct way is to treat him like what he actually is. Fleet Command (talk) 07:48, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

I will add an input myself, but after talking to CL elsewhere. You see, you two have authority. I have a bad reputation only. Fleet Command (talk) 08:11, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive
Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!
TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.
If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.
At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.
As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

Czarkoff, just to let you know. After this comment, I won't be engaging on that page for a while again. There's little point. But thanks for your comments and productive engagement. --Tóraí (talk) 08:57, 29 August 2014 (UTC) [Strike that, it would seem :-)] --Tóraí (talk) 19:38, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
'Confusing' tag on Copyfree
Hi Czarkoff. I noticed that you placed a 'confusing' tag on the Copyfree article in June. What exactly is it you find confusing about the article? Thanks (and please ping me in your response). --Cgtdk (talk) 19:14, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Cgtdk: Hi! I find this article confusing, because it does little to define the term itself. Of course, it is useful to know that "copyfree" is not "copyleft", but the exact meaning of "copyfree" is not clear. The note about Apache License (unversioned, though versions of Apache License differ significantly) makes the loose definition yet less clear.
- Another confusing thing with this article is its very unfortunate choice of language. Eg. the phrase "the original work and direct modifications of it continue to be distributed under the terms of the same license" is true for GPL as well, due to lack of clarity in "direct modifications". — Dmitrij D. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DATE (command)
Hello, Dmitrij
I hope I am not bothering you but Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DATE (command) badly needs more input from the community. It has been relisted twice before and in spite of me having tried to publicize it before, is still at the risk of being closed without a consensus. The reason that I am calling you is that last time, I've been told to invite people that are more connected to the matter.
Subject of the nomination is: "Wikipedia is not a manual and this article is written exactly like a man page."
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 18:23, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Template:Ctr
Hi.
{{Ctr}} is nominated for deletion and unfortunately, I noticed late. You see, this template has the potential to join the family of table template to help create simpler tables. Please see Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2014 October 29 § Template:Ctr where we can discuss this rather unexplored alternative to deletion.
Best regards,

Date format in Linux articles
Hello! Any chances, please, for you to have a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Software § Date format in release history sections of Linux articles and possibly comment there by providing your point of view? The whole thing is pretty much poorly discussed with only a few editors actually discussing it, while it seems to be affecting more than a few articles (and the date format seems to be extending beyond the tables into references, please see history of the Linux distribution article). Any contributions to the discussion would be highly appreciated! — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 02:40, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Czarkoff. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

I didn't know if you would still be watching the Duck Duck Go page/article. I thought I would update the Alexa rank, but I am not sure what is shown is the U.S. rank, or international. Why not show them both? I could try to make the change, but I don't really know what I'm doing. When I checked in the just now, US=492, int'l=851. Thanks. Rags (talk) 22:53, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

You are receiving this message because you have listed yourself as a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard.
We have a backlog of cases there which need volunteer attention. If you have time available, please take one or more of these cases.
If you do not intend to take cases or help with the administration of DRN on a regular basis, or if you do not wish to receive further notices of this nature, please remove your username from the volunteer list. If you later decide to resume activities at DRN you may relist your name at that time.

Repeat AfD nominee
You previously voiced an opinion on an AfD discussion on an article. It was subsequently moved to user space and made it to main space. It has been nominated for deletion again: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cantata++ (3rd nomination). If you are interested in weighing-in, it would be helpful to know if you see any improvement in the article and it currently meets WP:GNG. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:03, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

{{Online source}} merge to {{press}} reverted
Hi,
I've had to undo this merge as {{online source}} was broken: it wasn't displaying any text at all. Could you take a look in case something changed in {{press}} that broke the way it was being invoked by the wrapper you installed? Thanks. Help needed at DRN
You are receiving this message because you are signed up as a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard. We have a number of pending requests which need a volunteer to address them. Unless you are an inexperienced volunteer who is currently just watching DRN to learn our processes, please take a case. If you do not see yourself taking cases in the foreseeable future, please remove yourself from the volunteer list so that we can have a better idea of the size of our pool of volunteers; if you do see yourself taking cases, please watchlist the DRN page and keep an eye out to see if there are cases which are ready for a volunteer. We have recently had to refuse a number of cases because they were listed for days with no volunteer willing to take them, despite there being almost 150 volunteers listed on the volunteer page. Regards, TransporterMan (talk · contribs) (Current DRN coordinator) (Not watching this page) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:48, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. DRN help needed and volunteer roll call
You are receiving this message because you have listed yourself on the list of volunteers at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Volunteering#List of the DRN volunteers.
First, assistance is needed at DRN. We have recently closed a number of cases without any services being provided for lack of a volunteer willing to take the case. There are at least three cases awaiting a volunteer at this moment. Please consider taking one.
Second, this is a volunteer roll call. If you remain interested in helping at DRN and are willing to actively do so by taking at least one case (and seeing it through) or helping with administrative matters at least once per calendar month, please add your name to this roll call list. Individuals currently on the principal volunteer list who do not add their name on the roll call list will be removed from the principal volunteer list after June 30, 2016 unless the DRN Coordinator chooses to retain their name for the best interest of DRN or the encyclopedia. Individuals whose names are removed after June 30, 2016, should feel free to re-add their names to the principal volunteer list, but are respectfully requested not to do so unless they are willing to take part at DRN at least one time per month as noted above. No one is going to be monitoring to see if you live up to that commitment, but we respectfully ask that you either live up to it or remove your name from the principal volunteer list.

20:17:41, 13 September 2016 review of submission by Sharp16
- I have no idea what you want to me to do. Submission's tone is absolutely promotional. Lists of positions, publications and "achievements" are excessively detailed. Biographical data is excessive. Notability is not evident though: you list no independent secondary sources. If the sources in submission are indeed all you could find, I strongly suggest you to move on to another topic: even if this article will somehow get accepted, it would be deleted at once per WP:N and WP:BLP.
- P.S.: Please use English for communication in English Wikipedia – these talk pages are supposed to be intelligible to all editors, even those who don't speak Russian.

Hello and thanks!
You are asking for reliable sources. Actually I submitted those after the last decline. The first 3 or so references are all text magazins in Germany which are redactional edited.
It is also not a Neologism but a broad movement in the US and in Germany. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:598:A080:BB52:1D52:F5B9:7BDA:B27C (talk) 06:13, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, Czarkoff. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

01:47:53, 26 February 2017 review of submission by BioHistoryFan
Dear czarkoff,
Attached below is the link to the Wikipedia bio of a commercial real estate lawyer Edward Mermelstein.
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Edward_Mermelstein
Mermelstein’s experience and prominence in the New York and national commercial real estate community has been considered sufficient enough to survive recommendations for deletion by some Wikipedia editors, as noted in the Talk section of his article. Although there is a prominent warning above the article that it “contains content written like an advertisement,” it still appears on Wikipedia.
Joshua Stein, whose biography was rejected some months ago, appears to merit at least the same recognition as Mermelstein by being published on Wikipedia, even with a warning similar to Mermelstein’s.
Should Stein’s experience as textbook author and writer of more than 200 articles me emphasized more? Thank you for your suggestions.

Submission request
Hello! I noticed you denied a page submission for the voice actress "Morgan Berry" awhile back.[1] Would you mind looking it over? I believe this actress has proven herself to be of notability based on her online presence and official cast announcements from notable companies over the past few years. She has also proven to be of high demand in the convention scene.[2] In addition, Morgan has noteworthy roles in many popular anime, video game and movie titles associated with notable companies such as Funimation, Hi-Rez Studios, ScrewAttack and GalaxyTrail[3][4][5][6][7][8] I believe this should also be taken into consideration. She is in big enough titles to be of notability, despite her only being in the industry since 2015. Thank you for your time and I look forward to discussing this further. 47.185.93.163 (talk) 02:32, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Upcoming changes to wikitext parsing
Hello,
There will be some changes to the way wikitext is parsed during the next few weeks. It will affect all namespaces. You can see a list of pages that may display incorrectly at Special:LintErrors. Since most of the easy problems have already been solved at the English Wikipedia, I am specifically contacting tech-savvy editors such as yourself with this one-time message, in the hope that you will be able to investigate the remaining high-priority pages during the next month.
There are approximately 10,000 articles (and many more non-article pages) with high-priority errors. The most important ones are the articles with misnested tags and table problems. Some of these involve templates, such as infoboxes, or the way the template is used in the article. In some cases, the "error" is a minor, unimportant difference in the visual appearance. In other cases, the results are undesirable. You can see a before-and-after comparison of any article by adding ?action=parsermigration-edit to the end of a link, like this: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Arthur_Foss?action=parsermigration-edit (which shows a difference in how {{infobox ship}} is parsed).
If you are interested in helping with this project, please see Wikipedia:Linter. There are also some basic instructions (and links to even more information) at https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-ambassadors/2018-April/001836.html You can also leave a note at WT:Linter if you have questions.
Thank you for all the good things you do for the English Wikipedia. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
