Potential AfD for biog article

Biog of Nicolas Sarkis appears to be promoting his book and little else. I can't see what makes the subject notable. The article refers to his book as his 'first' but he has no other publications. There is little that comes up on a search of his name. The biog is mainly sourced from his publisher's website, other citations are dead or deprecated links (one to Bloomberg is generic and takes you to current news). Repetition used to create headings. I will tag it soon if there's no objections. Thelisteninghand (talk) 16:27, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

How to deal with SPA biography editors

How to deal with users convinced (in over 100 edits) that everyone is of a certain nationality, sometimes even in direct contradiction to the sources? It's not wrong enough to be obvious vandalism and there are useful edits as well, but it's wrong often enough to be disturbing. --mfb (talk) 07:52, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Notice

The article Robert Wiedemer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Has failed WP:N for 10.23 years. After cleanup and reconstitution, I found little else to support an article, and what I did failed WP:RSP.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 14:17, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Project-independent quality assessments

Quality assessments are used by Wikipedia editors to rate the quality of articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Help on writing a bio for a notable academic

Request for Review of Simon Duffy (Producer)

Hello, WikiProject Biography and WikiProject Musicians members,

I am reaching out to request a review of my recent submission, http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Simon_Duffy_(Producer).

The article focuses on the life and career of Simon Duffy, a notable songwriter/producer who has made significant contributions to the music industry. Given the subject's notability and relevance to the biographical and musician genre, I believe this article falls within the scope of WikiProject Biography and Musicians.

My submission has undergone an initial review, and I have since made necessary revisions based on the feedback provided. However, the review process for the updated version has been delayed, and I am hoping that someone from this WikiProject could help by reviewing the article and providing further guidance or feedback.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide in reviewing this submission, and I am open to making further improvements based on your feedback. Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely, LeftfieldArchivist LeftfieldArchivist (talk) 10:03, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

RfC about WP:COP-HERITAGE

See Wikipedia talk:Categorization of people#RfC about WP:COPHERITAGE

WP:FORUMSHOPPING to overturn prior Categories for Discussion results concerning overcategorization by ethnicity. This would change to "at least one" (from zero or one), a major shift for descent and diaspora categories contrary to 18 years of documented guidelines. Most biographies should have zero descent categories, as Wikipedia:Categorization of people#By nationality and occupation are sufficient. Some may have one, but there has never been a documented need for two or more, and certainly never "at least one". It could explode the number of such categories.

Infobox officeholder

Disregard

Aquabluetesla and I are in disagreement about whether template officeholder should be used for, e.g., deans. See the discussion at Talk:R. Duane Ireland. Input from knowledgeable editors will be appreciated. Thanks! --Randykitty (talk) 08:18, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

The officeholder infobox is the only way to list the position of dean in the infobox and this is how it is done on most American university dean articles. I have added an academic infobox module to list what is unable to be listed with the officeholder infobox. I don’t think there is any real issue here. Aquabluetesla (talk) 16:50, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
