Simon Duffy is a British record producer, composer, and engineer/mixer, known for his contributions to dance, pop, and indie music.[1]

Career

[edit]

Simon Duffy first gained recognition for his work as a writer and mixer on "Chase the Sun", a hit single by Planet Funk that reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart[2][3] and has become a longstanding anthem for darts in the UK.[4]

His collaborative works include projects with artists including Dino Lenny,[5] Paul Harris, and Mr Hudson. In 2015, Duffy's song "One Night Lover" with Paul Harris and Dragonette achieved over eleven million streams on Spotify.[6]

In 2014, Duffy produced the EP Let The Night by Dirty Vegas, which was certified by FIMI[7]

His production work on the album Pressure in an Empty Space by Buchanan led to a nomination for the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition in 2016,[8] while the single "Coming Down" debuted at No. 29 on the Music Week Commercial Pop Chart[9] and was also nominated as a semi-finalist in the 2014 International Songwriting Competition.

In January 2024, Australian artist Emmanuel Kelly released his single "My Sky", which Duffy co-produced and would see its live premiere at the Australian Open on 23 January 2024.[10] This lead single from Kelly's upcoming debut album, which is slated to be executive produced by Chris Martin,[11] was released following the announcement that Kelly would support Coldplay on their Music of the Spheres World Tour in Australasia, commencing October 2024.[12]
