- Our project's topic workshop is now up and running. It has been created to assist editors in developing good and featured topics, and is open to all members who are interested in proposing topics or working on existing topics. This will be a great opportunity for our project to continue to showcase the quality of our articles while still improving others.
- A contest is still ongoing in order to improve our Wikipedia 0.7 Release Version articles prior to their publication in December. Many awards are available, including several prestigious competitive ones. However, the vast majority are participation-based and proportional, meaning that more improvements equals more awards. With over 200 articles to choose from, we anticipate that active editors can easily obtain considerable "lucre" well before the December 1st deadline, and look forward to seeing you all there.
- Our project now has nearly 47,000 film-related articles that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class. If you're interested in viewing our project's progress in relation to other projects, see here.
- This month a new task force was proposed: An African films task force. If you are interested in improving films related to the region, please sign up here to help us determine if there is enough support to warrant a task force.
- Spotlight Update: Multiple films reached GA, A-Class, and FL status in October 2008. We gained 16 GAs this month, which has been our second most successful month after tying with August 2007 (16) and staying just behind January 2008 (20). Keep up the good work!

- 2. "I probably could have saved her if I'd have moved sooner. But I thought it was just another nightmare, like the one I had the night before. There was...there was this guy; he had knives for fingers."
- 3. "That boy is our legal property, same as the family cow."
- 4. "And maybe there's no peace in this world, for us or for anyone else, I don't know. But I do know that, as long as we live, we must remain true to ourselves."
- 5. "See if you can guess what I am now...I'm a zit. Get it?"
- 6. "You know what the trouble about real life is? There's no danger music."
- 7. "My name? If you knew that, you'd be as clever as me."
- 8. "The story was just a trick to get you to do something for me."
- 9. "Let's go over the ground rules. Rule number 1: No touching of the hair or face...and that's it!"
