- Project news
- Are you looking to get involved with more areas of the project? Remember to keep an eye on the announcements page, which constantly updates current articles that need assistance or are attempting to be upgraded in class. There are a variety of task forces open for various genre and regional film topics. If working on backlogs interest you, there are multiple articles that you could use your help.
- There was a large request for comment in May at WP:NOT concerning whether the policy should cover plot summaries. The discussion was closed as no consensus.
- In case you missed it, in April there was an interview in The Wikipedia Signpost with coordinator Collectonian about WP:FILMS.
- Do you like reviewing Good Article nominations? Do you want to help maintain the quality of our project's older GAs? If so, consider joining GA Sweeps, as there are currently over 50 films that need to be reviewed. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Nehrams2020.
- Our project now has nearly 56,000 film-related articles, with 53,700 that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
- Several of our articles went under review in May, either through GAR or FAR. As a result several articles were delisted as GA or FA, which can be seen below. With some work to the issues listed on the review pages of the articles, they can be returned to their former status. If you are interested in starting your first GA/FA, consider improving one of these articles since the majority of the work is already done.
- Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA, A and FA status in May 2009.
- Member news
- New members to the project since the last issue include: Silentaria, Isaiah40:28, Lord Cornwallis, World Cinema Writer, Irshgrl500, 33andathird, Invmog, Ring Cinema, Kollision, I Seek To Help & Repair!, Cfolz88, and TriiipleThreat.
- Recipients of the WikiProject Films Award: David Fuchs for his excellent contributions to improving several film articles to FA status.
- Remember that any editor can give the WikiProject Films Award to another WP:Films member. If you do present this award, please mention it here or tell one of the newsletter editors who will then include it in the next issue.
- Please add your name to the member list if you have not already.
