Katherine "Katie" Breann Cooper redirect
A redirect that I created was put up for deletion, then voted to be kept and subsequently closed by you. The same person who put it up for deletion immediately put it up for speedy deletion. What can be done about this? Shoot for the Stars (talk) 17:02, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm not sure what they're doing. Blethering Scot, there was clear consensus to keep at the RfD. C F A 💬 17:06, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
About adding ai-generated tag
Hello, I came across your message you posted on my user page. I compiled information from various reliable sources and formatted new pages for new parlimentarians in Sri Lanka using an appropriate template to ensure clarity and consistency. I did use a language model to help refine grammar and wording where necessary, but the core research and structure were my own. Given this approach, would it still be necessary to tag the page as AI-generated? TIA. Indunil Chamara (talk) 17:37, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- No, because the text you're adding is 1) not at all neutral and 2) completely unsourced. As you are writing biographies of living people, it is very important to make sure all information is verifiable and cited. The text you are adding is also blatantly promotional. Please write using your own words. C F A 23:59, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

Updates for editors
- Users of Wikimedia sites will now be warned when they create a redirect to a page that doesn't exist. This will reduce the number of broken redirects to red links in our projects. [1]
- View all 42 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week. For example, Pywikibot, which automates work on MediaWiki sites, was upgraded to 9.5.0 on Toolforge. [2]
Updates for technical contributors
- On wikis that use the FlaggedRevs extension, pages created or moved by users with the appropriate permissions are marked as flagged automatically. This feature has not been working recently, and changes fixing it should be deployed this week. Thanks to Daniel and Wargo for working on this. [3][4]
In depth
- There is a new Diff post about Temporary Accounts, available in more than 15 languages. Read it to learn about what Temporary Accounts are, their impact on different groups of users, and the plan to introduce the change on all wikis.

Another recent incident involving a vandal
I had to move all of your pre-vandalism user and user talk page stuff to their pre-vandalism titles, CFA. I'll request protection shortly. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 04:00, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Hello, CFA,
There was a vandal targeting this page and I was surprised to find you created it. Do you really think this page is appropriate for main space? I only see your edits to it, not the vandal's. I'm pinging User:Bishonen as they were involved here. Liz Read! Talk! 04:09, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Liz, some possible LTA did this. I don't think we can fault CFA for this, but just merge this and this user talk page with the other history and delete the vandal's attempts to move the page and disruptive edit summaries. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 04:12, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Oh lord, the problem is I'm even out of bed - it's the middle of the night here. I deleted all the revisions of NIGGERKIKE, then realized most of the 235 revisions were appropriate - it had been vandalized. So I recreated 225 revisions, assuming it had also been moved. But it turned out to be still called the bad name, and I can't find the original name in the logs. Surely there must be an original name? Thanks for catching this, Liz and Codename Noreste — I was just about to appeal for help on AN. Bishonen (still apparently an idiot after all these years) tålk 04:17, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- You could possibly move it to User:CFA. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 04:25, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Done. Bishonen | tålk 04:29, 22 November 2024 (UTC).
- I was clearly mistaken here. I just didn't understand the page history which only showed edits by CFA, not the vandal who was blocked. I think there was some crossed wires during the page moves of these pages. Thank you for cleaning this up, Bishonen. It's appreciated. Liz Read! Talk! 04:41, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help, everyone. I think something happened to my talk page history though. C F A 12:39, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Let's get another admin to merge this legitimate page and the other page's history, if I am not mistaken. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 13:33, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

I know the above discussion is closed. However, I just wanted to remind everyone who ever sees this talk page that checkusers can be emailed at checkuser-en-wpwikipedia.org, and that oversighters can be emailed from User:Oversight. There seems to be a consensus that rev-deletion is enough, but if the vandalism continues to be like anything I've seen, I doubt you'd get in trouble for emailing oversight. Question from Royiswariii (05:30, 23 November 2024)
Hello CFA!
I'm asking about a WikiProject, I was planning to create a WikiProject but it is hold "In 2024, we are changing the proposal process. We are trying to reduce the number of failed attempts to start groups.
". I don't know how will I start a WikiProject, can you give me a tip or help how will I start a WikiProject even it's in hold for proposing a WikiProject? Thanks! --Royiswariii Talk! 05:30, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Royiswariii. This was done because there are a lot of very inactive WikiProjects on niche subjects that were created and only briefly active before dying off. The point of WikiProjects is to have somewhere where people working in the same subject area can collaborate. They're completely useless without participation from interested editors. I don't think you actually need to go through the official approval process — no one is going to stop you from creating a page in projectspace — but you should probably have at least 10 people interested beforehand. WT:COUNCIL is a good place to ask about stuff like this. Happy editing, C F A 15:27, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- So does it mean, I can create whenever i want? Royiswariii Talk! 09:04, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
