BC Junior "B"
Good work and keep working on the KIJHL pages and such... I want these pages built... come see what I've been doing for ontario: Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League, Ontario Hockey Association... browse... good luck, I'll be watching. DMighton 04:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Is there Junior "C" leagues in BC? Also, if you look into stats (standings/team records)... add them to the team pages if you can. DMighton 05:48, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Revelstoke
Thanks for reverting that guys work... his statement about the league was pretty bold... Jr. B sits in as an alternative to Junior A in some regions of Ontario due to the limited amount of ground the OPJHL can cover without making travel costs too high.
BTW, are you going to do anymore KIJHL articles? You were doing really well. DMighton 05:46, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- I was just asking... simmer. I think you are doing a good job. DMighton 02:46, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

No problem... actually... how do you feel about possibly doing the VIJHL and PIJHL? PS... if you are interested... new and better templates: Template:Hockey team. I use it in all the OHA Jr. B leagues: see Western Junior B Hockey League... DMighton 07:37, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Arizona League
To be honest with you, I don't think the moves are correct simply because we should generally go with the most common name. But. I'm ok with it as long as the articles mention that the teams are also commonly known as the "AZL" X. And btw, the Gulf Coast League teams are listed as GCL X with the proviso that the league doesn't use city names. Probably should be double checked as well for consistency. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 07:07, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:PortlandTimbersMLSLogo.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PortlandTimbersMLSLogo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:30, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. I noticed you added a goal to the infobox for Bright Dike without adding any appearances, updating the Last Updated field, sourcing your edit or writing an edit summary. Request for Participation at WT: Airports
As you may be aware, there was a recent discussion on the talk page of WP:Airports which prematurely and without consensus resulted in mass changes to airport articles throughout Wikipedia. Before a drastic change like this is put into practice, it is important to have clear consensus, which from my readings as an observer, did not occur. Many of these changes started to occur before any real discussion had taken place, and despite much disagreement from some community members. Disagreement is good -- it's great actually -- without it nothing would ever get done. But it's important that everyone opinions are heard fairly and accurately, and that significant changes like merging the Regional Airline destinations with the Mainline destinations are not done without such consensus. I encourage you, as someone involved in WP:Airports and the original discussion, to voice your opinions and discuss with others about how we should move forward at this point. Positive and constructive conversation is the way to a consensus. I also ask that everyone (myself included) ceases merging or un-merging mainline/regional destinations until a censuses is reached. Please contribute to the conversation here. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 01:17, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

IAYG Non-Primary Sources
Hi SportingFlyer, I thought I would stop by and provide some references I found regarding the IAYG article. I want to thank you for your vigilance and fair arbitration in the Deletion request. It also reminds us that we have to do a better job of getting our work out there! I've been talking to the people in our group: we should get something in the Journal or the Sun to do our part...
Anyhow, you were asking about documents that would prove organizational relationships and other things. These should help resolve your concerns:
An article about the partnership between the Demo Prep Foundation and the IAYG: http://www.demoprep.us/2017/07/27/demoprepiayg/ This is a great example of organization relationships and the IAYG's work in local communities.
Examples of IAYG officials invited to global boards & initiatives: http://watson.brown.edu/HI2/people/international-fellows/kayode In this case, an IAYG Project Manager became an International Fellow of the Humanitarian Innovation Initiative at Brown University's Watson Institute of International & Public Affairs.
Examples of IAYG connections with universities: http://nags.futminna.edu.ng/ This is the website for the National Association of Geography Students (the name of the IAYG's mainline university student branch in Nigeria) hosted at the website of the Federal University of Technology in Minna, Nigeria.
Examples of news coverage and information surrounding work by local branches of the IAYG and/or universities in the IAYG University Society System: The Philippine Geography Olympiad (conducted by the Geographic Society of the University of the Philippines, which is a branch of the IAYG University Society System) was brought up, so: http://www.deped.gov.ph/advisories/da-002-s-2018
This is a story map about the GIS day, which was organized in part by the Kenyatta University GIS Club, another branch of the IAYG University Society System: https://kuniversity.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapJournal/index.html?appid=416eb26c74434d40ae0e1e0a90963a51 By the way, if you need any documentation about these clubs being branches of the University Society System, just let me know...
The other day I also found an article about one of the IAYG's quiz competitions in Northern Ghana but now I can't find it anymore. I'll let you know if I come across it again... (these articles are near impossible to track down)
Example of IAYG program in partnership with universities or other major institutions: http://igu2018.ulaval.ca/assets/documents/Invitation%20IGU-YECG%20Networking%20Event.pdf This is an invitation to an event with a partnership between the IAYG and the IGU-YECG, held at the Université de Laval
Hopefully, this should be enough information to prove Notability. After all, over time, information will be added to the article and it will continually improve. If not, I also found the websites for the IAYG's official memoranda signed with some governments and organizations. Not sure if these should be publically available (I'll ask), but they are and definitely prove the IAYG's relationships with other key stakeholders.
Thanks again! Iorazev (talk) 19:05, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Hello
Hi mate, how are you. I looked into your answer, and mate I think you're a little bit off, may I ask you to answer the subject is accepted through GNG? I am not asking you for a favor, rather I'll explain to you why so that you can with ethics change your answer. The subject in the matter is an icon for Ethiopian football, he's been in Ethiopian radios, following with his words in an interview appearing in EBC TV which is the central and government TV channel of Ethiopia. DireTube as well is not close to a blog, or routine page but Ethiopia's biggest platform where over 200 people actually commented on the subject and he was spoken about in a highly matter showing very high coverage. I don't want to become a hypocrite and saying that it would be hypocritical to delete this subject when we accept thai-players who has only played 1 or 2 games in the league but sources are fully or almost over fully not reliable, it might as well been a page created and edited by someone... You understand my point mate? All in all, I knew you considered GNG and I sent you this so that you could hopefully if nice change you answer, he is very suited for note via GNG, and for ethics sake for you to change your answer he's suited via following:"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material., <-- he has been in an exclusive interview with what I know two Swedish newspapers (or could be more I only know 2) who wrote him in the first page with a fully page on only him, he had a full interview in radio that many small Ethiopian TV channels broadcasted and the major EBC TV aswell... I am counting on you pal and I have now giving you reason to change your answer, think of it as a favor to me but with ethics as well... and by the way may you note that it dosn't matter if he fails WP:FOOTY if he's acceptable to GNG which he is to the person who was against it in the discussion, if you want I can send you puctures of him in the magazine and at 11:13 January4 he was recorded in Aftonbladet silly season notice and he blew in swedish-football community where everyone talked about him, and about a week ago he was in radio where he himself admitted that a possible move is in the coming months... again GNG is via ethiopia and his adimre alongside EFF-president who spoke so highly of him. Thank my friend, I hope you see this and change your answer, your best/Avaay (talk) 10:45, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

You are right Lizette Parker does not pass GNG
This has become down right ludicrous. We have people coming up with more and more special carve outs for notability, while ignoring how many acrticles on truly notable people we lack. They want to make Lizette Parker a cause celebre for better coverage of black people, when we lack even an article on all current members of the legislature of Ghana. There are probably thousands of articles on black people who unquestionably pass notability guidelines we lack, but Lizette Parker is not one of them. This is really just a continuation of special, illogical and localized coverage of New Jersey which undermines Wikipedia as a relied upon and respected source.John Pack Lambert (talk) 01:18, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

Draft Declined: Accra Lions Football Club
Hello,
I really don't get what the problem is. I used an independent source (ghanasoccernet), the official website of the football federation of Ghana (ghanafa) and the official homepage of the club. There are no facts, that need a source, the stadium capacity is official and there is source for it too (stadiumDB). There are so many crap Wikipedia-pages of other teams of the league (no sources, no informations, really poor pages), but this draft is still declined because of what...? Should I add one more source, but for what? This club is for sure one of the top 30 clubs of the country and there are over 90(!) pages of other clubs, just look at them: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Category:Football_clubs_in_Ghana How are these wikipedia pages better than this draft?
- Tfnalp (talk · contribs) Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability. All teams which have played in the national cup are presumptively notable, as are any teams playing in the "national" level of the league structure, as are teams which pass WP:GNG. I did not see Accra Lions having played in the cup per the article nor a quick search, they do not play in the "national" level of the league, and you have only one reliable source per WP:GNG (the Ghanasoccernet article) as the other sources are primary (the Ghana FA site, the club's webpage) or a directory, which typically don't count toward notability (stadiumdb). If they're playing in the FA Cup as a second division team, a source showing that would be the fastest way to be presumptively notable. Otherwise, other media articles will need to be added about specific parts of the club to pass WP:GNG. SportingFlyer talk 23:02, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, @SportingFlyer. I will work slowly on adding additional references, there are 100+ from his time in Canada's top league in the 1960s. (Of course, he played in an era when there was no international "A" fixtures for Canada, although he did play there. I will also add reference to his brief time at Arsenal. Per sources not online (ie, as you can imagine, our media market is MUCH smaller than our neighbours to the south), is there an example for references to print publications like Vancouver Province or Globe & Mail or Dundee or Soviet newspapers? (I am also working on Bobby Smith footballer who was the other major striker during Canada's international football gap). Poorly sourced content at Premier League season articles
I quite clearly explained in my edit summary why I removed the poorly sourced content you restored. You may have added three references, but the majority of the paragraphs remain entirely unsourced. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:07, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: They can be sourced easily, as I mentioned. I simply restoring content that should not have been removed in the first place. I can probably take a crack at sourcing them later today. SportingFlyer talk 22:10, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- That's great, but whether the content is easy to source or difficult to source is neither here nor there, when it's ultimately still unsourced. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:12, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: I understand the duty to reference is on the restoring user, but the text was originally deleted on "POV grounds," not because it was unsourced. (Please note I'm not saying your deletion was improper.) Many of these historical EPL articles need to be referenced better anyways - there's only one source in the entire lead section of the article. SportingFlyer talk 22:19, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

Request on 19:34:19, 20 August 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Skv1982
Hello, you rejected an article I submitted on a company called FREEandCLEAR and cited "Need more sources discussing the company, not articles the company produces." None of the ten articles I referenced were produced by the company but rather by multiple credible, third party sources including the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Mortgage Professionals of America (MPA), MReport and Inman. These last three sources are real estate and mortgage publications which establish credibility and significance in the subject's field. I modeled my submission after several other similar articles on Wikipedia so I am not sure why it was rejected. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your help.
-skv1982
- @Skv1982: Hello, just because the sources are credible third-party sources do not mean the source is enough to show notability for a company under WP:NCORP. My analysis of the available sources is below:
- 1) wikipedia is not a reliable source.
- 2) The company's survey is only casually mentioned in the article.
- 3) The company's survey is only casually mentioned in the article
- 4) Survey article not independent from the company
- 5) Article about another survey, not independent from the company
- 6) Another survey article/company press release
- 7) Yet another survey
- 8) Yet another survey - a little bit better because the Tribune discusses the company a little bit, but not quite meeting the threshold
- 9) More marketing material about a survey
None of these sources in my mind are either independent or secondary - they all republish the company's surveys, which typically are marketing tools for the company. See [[2]] (how to apply the criteria) about how to look for proper sources. Good luck! SportingFlyer talk 23:55, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Skv1982 (talk) 19:34, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you again for your constructive feedback. I am doing this for the first time and I did not realize you could not cite Wikipedia as a reference -- I will fix that. I also confirmed by checking the disclosure for each article referenced that none of the publications were compensated for writing about the subject. I would think this is a positive because it establishes the sources' independence but I understand there are other factors involved. Also, you seem to dismiss surveys as only marketing materials but many organizations use them to highlight important topics such as financial literacy, mortgage fraud and the environment. I would think these issues are also important to the Wikipedia community which makes the subject relevant as well. I am not questioning your judgement but looking at things from a different angle and trying to understand how my article can be accepted. - @Skv1982: The issue with the surveys is they are promotional material for the company, where we need independent sources which significantly cover the company. No article, regardless of the source, which simply discusses a survey isn't a completely independent source. Keep in mind it is not relevance but sourcing which makes an article notable. Hi there. Thank you for your time. I added more personal information about Tiffany Maher's personal relationship with White Sox player Nicky Delmonico, as well as two additional sources solely about her from the media. If I have those and the inline citations, will it help with getting the article accepted? Thanks so much.

- @Kimdroze: I'm not sure she's notable enough for an article, but you should definitely read WP:INCITE as the article has no chance of being submitted without the inline citations. Also, stories about dating an athlete probably won't be considered in determining notability, as notability is not inherited. SportingFlyer talk 17:29, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

FYI this was an incorrect decision - the article clearly showed that the athlete met SNG (WP:NFOOTBALL). I've moved into main space accordingly. GiantSnowman 07:30, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
- @GiantSnowman: Not that concerned - that user has been contributing a number of borderline notable football player stubs. I couldn't easily confirm whether he had passed WP:NFOOTY, especially with Liberia, so I rejected it. If you can confirm it passes WP:NFOOTY, happy to see it moved to mainspace. You should move your draft to 2018–19 NorthEast United FC season which I just deleted for you. Drake Foundation Reference Notability August 2018
Hi @SportingFlyer I noticed your recent comment regarding the Drake Foundation Wikipedia entry, which is under review. I’d like to ask your advice on how best to take this forward. For clarity, the Drake Foundation was founded by James Drake to bring together neuroscience and sport, with funding being a secondary element; in fact, as you can see from the Saracens Rugby Club Wiki entry (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Saracens_F.C), it was the James Drake who initiated the biomarker study with the club and University College London (In January 2015, following an approach from James Drake of The Drake Foundation to set up a research project to study the effects of concussion, Saracens players began wearing impact sensors produced by X2 Bio-systems in Seattle which measure the force and direction of impact to the head. This ongoing concussion study will continue into the 2015/16 season with the use of blood samples for injury identification as the latest element of the ground breaking programme to determine the effects of concussion on rugby players) Following this, and through work by the Drake Foundation to connect relevant groups across neuroscience, sporting bodies and clubs (who ordinarily would not collaborate), further studies have (or about to be) initiated in soccer with the support of the FA and PFA. Further, these stakeholders are brought together annually at a ‘closed door’ symposium where issues can be discussed freely to enable this important area to progress. So the Foundation is much more than a funder. Given this, I would welcome any advice on how to get this entry fit for acceptance. - @WagglerDave: I would do two things: First, clean up the formatting of the article a bit, especially in terms of the promotional content - it reads as if it is an advertisement for the company. Second, review WP:NCORP and determine whether independent sources exist which significantly cover the organisation. If they exist, incorporate them into the article. I feel like you're a long ways away, unfortunately. SportingFlyer talk 03:33, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

hi, i saw the comment about how he did not appear in any professional leagues however he did play a few games with the first team, Felda United and their second team for the Malaysia President Cup. However, I don't think it is recorded anywhere. How do I make it possible with the sources? I think I gave enough sources and his name is listed on the Felda Wikipedia page. Please do correct me if any of my statements does not correlate. Thanks.
Haninah Mustaffa (talk) 13:43, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
@Haninah Mustaffa: Please see WP:NFOOTY for the requirements football players need to pass notability guidelines. He must have played a game for FELDA when they were in the top flight, or a cup game in the top flight against another professional team, and this must be verified by the sources. If you can find a source, please update the page with this information. SportingFlyer talk 01:43, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
@SportingFlyer: Hi i have reviewed the WP:NFOOTY for the requirements however i could not find any sources that could prove his appearance in the league, but he did appeared on one of the matches against Penang FA on 27th July 2018 and someone updated on the Felda United F.C. wikipedia page about his appearance. Thanks.
Women's hockey
Since I think we reached our final discussion points that were at hand in the relevant AfDs, I mentioned I pushed for looking into the CWHL and NWHL last year. The archived discussion can be found at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Archive69#Women's hockey where I proposed exactly what your stated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tatiana Rafter.
As a background to the SNG problem for NHOCKEY, there was an editor, User:dolovis, who was notorious for abusing the previous hockey SNG with hockey players that were merely mentioned in a few sources, but met the very bare minimum of the SNG at that time (of which there were hundreds articles he created for games played and preeminent honours in marginally GNG covered leagues). The articles he created got a lot of scrutiny from the general NSPORTS contributors for the sub-stubs that led to a very restrictive SNG for hockey, which is why certain sites like SBNation are considered routine by that project (at least for the NHL/AHL/ECHL). The end result became the heavily defined NHOCKEY, which makes it much harder to make a hockey-specific guidelines for any league, regardless of gender, and certain degree of deletion-ism in that project.
I guess all it takes in one prolifically bad contributor to make it much harder to make an SNG for a sport. And I very much agree with your assessment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ethan Cooper, but I have decided to stay away from that project and editors after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mason Espinosa and that the Gridiron project considers the use of the word "professional athlete" to make the equivalent depth of coverage different than college, despite being just as localized. (Note: I don't know if I would still nom Espinosa these days, he has gotten move coverage since joining the Columbus Lions per WP:CONTINUEDCOVERAGE from his local papers). Yosemiter (talk) 00:49, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Yosemiter: I really appreciate the background. I don't think it's a major problem, but I don't see any reason why we can't try to push to add some sort of notability criteria for top women's players as they're all at least borderline WP:GNG (since the background, more coverage has occurred, and with a new team in the NWHL I'm interested to see if coverage picks up this year. Also, it's interesting that the problems with hockey haven't spilled over into gridiron. For instance, I don't know how Espinosa was kept, there's only two half-decent sources on him (Billings, the local Columbus television source) and it's routine game coverage. SportingFlyer talk 01:31, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
- I am certainly hoping coverage picks up. IMO, the women's games has more parity in the teams' players, and therefore more exciting, than the men's leagues. But they get no attendance, and no media coverage because of it. It definitely makes me respect the sports I have had direct personal experiences (Boardercross, the US Ski Team, and various CrossFit Games athletes) are unbiased in their coverage of men vs. women. I also understand GNG, but have come to see that different sports-related projects view these guidelines very differently. I do not know specifically why Ice Hockey got targeted, but Dolovis made hundreds (or thousands, he was at one point a "highest count page creator on wikipedia") of pages that were under-sourced. As Gridiron is such an American sport (very regionilized), maybe people should push it to realize that a random extremely-regional football player is not notable on the encyclopedic scale per WP:NOTEVERYTHING. (And your use of "railroaded" seems appropriate here) Yosemiter (talk) 02:25, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
No, you are wrong that the content passes WP:AIRCRASH. Please understand the suggestions there before reverting. Many such incidents happen everyday, so coverage alone cannot make it notable. Per WP:AIRCRASH, a hull loss/loss of life or a significant change in some aviation rules, an incident is not notable. — LeoFrank Talk 10:31, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
- @LeoFrank: I strongly disagree with you as the damage to the airport clearly passes WP:AIRCRASH and caused significant damage to the plane. I've worked on aviation accident articles before and am familiar with the essay. Furthermore, this was an incident which received major international news coverage, which would tend to pass WP:GNG if it were a standalone article, which is policy, not an essay. Furthermore, your initial revert was because it was an Air India Express flight, which is not covered in WP:AIRCRASH. I am going to be bold and restore my edits and also start a discussion on WikiProject Airports. SportingFlyer talk 10:44, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Jebels
Hiya. The energy is more about how many more of these he's created. I dunno, maybe they had a WP article creation competition back in 2008, but every single 'settlement' stub he's created now appears to have a matching 'jebel'. There are very, very few jebels with actual names in the UAE, for instance Jais or Buhais. The Hajjar mountains are extensive, arid, barren and very lumpy. And saying that a peak near a village carries that village's name is more than disingenuous as nobody, but nobody uses that nomenclature. I truly despair to think of how many of these there are and every single one is just unhelpful cruft that masks the real work that remains to be done on the UAE's geography. So even if there's a village of Sayf Muddayrah (there is, as we know), there's not a Jebel Muddayrah. There. I have now unburdened! :) Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 10:11, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexandermcnabb: I'd support a bulk AfD of these stubs if you have the time. The problem I had with the settlements is there's no definitive guide to what is and what isn't a settlement in the UAE (the census is terrible), and I err on the side of keeping geographical articles, especially in populated areas. I have much less of an issue with deleting these stubs - but (as you're probably aware) be careful not to overdo it as many bulk AfDs get kept on procedural grounds. These are all from that 1987 Washington DC source so maybe just start with those? SportingFlyer talk 11:01, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

I tried doing a bulk delete but I for the life of me cannot get my head around the instructions on how to use the subst:afd1 template. Can you either explain to this dullard how to do it or take on the last two columns of List of mountains in Fujairah as a bulk AfD? They, with the exception of Jebel Wamm, are all effectively unsourced/point to random terrain, townland or - in one example - a gas storage depot? Thanks! Alexandermcnabb (talk) 08:05, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, the volume was an issue with the settlements as well. In theory these should be easier. Bundling is kind of odd. If you have mountains A and B, nominate A like usual - I'm using parentheses instead of brackets here - ((subst:afd1)). Then, instead of nominating B like usual, you'd just put the following at the top of B: ((subst:afd1|A)) and then write "AfD: :Nominating for Deletion" in the edit summary, non-minor edit. This links B's AfD to A's. Then you'd save, click on the link which takes you to the AfD, and then add the following to the original AfD:

((la|A)) ((Find sources AFD|A)) (again, brackets instead of parentheses) I would also write something along the lines of "in the process of bundling several articles, please wait" and then remove that line when you're done adding articles. use of reflist-talk
Hey, your edit supposedly to "fix" a formatting issue does the opposite. Are you not familiar with template:reflist-talk? I think it was one of your edits which caused the problem. Anyhow, in the closed AFD, could you please fix the formatting issue by reverting yourself. --Doncram (talk) 13:18, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Doncram: I'm going to decline to do this - I really don't know what you're talking about, as everything appears to display properly to me, and the closed AfD box now fits around the entire discussion, which wasn't happening before. @Sandstein: I made a formatting fix on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of landlocked U.S. states because the reflist-talk box conflicted with the closed AfD div, so I moved reflist-talk to the bottom of the page, which seemed to work - would you mind taking a look to see if everything's okay? SportingFlyer talk 19:49, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter, or matters very little, this is just about formatting. I perceived that you deleted one or both of the reflist-talks, with your apparent intent to move the references to the bottom of the page, which is where they were appearing before. The refs should show where they were given, not float down to appear as part of my comment in the AFD (i commented last, at the bottom). It seemed to me that you disagree with that, that you prefer for the references to float down? I don't know what you mean about the AFD div, so maybe i have missed something. --Doncram (talk) 21:33, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Here are the diffs: [3] [4] In the first one, the blue box cuts off exactly at the first reflist-talk. Removing that reflist-talk makes it cut off at the second reflist-talk. Moving them all to the bottom fixes the issue I was trying to fix. SportingFlyer talk 21:39, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, i didn't notice the end of the blue box before. Despite the blue box not extending all the way down, the AFD was clearly closed at the very bottom by the statement "The above discussion is preserved as an archive...". So can reflist-talk not be used within an AFD? If not, then is the problem that <ref> ... </ref> was used by you (and another editor?) in the AFD. Should only external link style citations, e.g. like your own in this diff at a different AFD be used? --Doncram (talk) 21:55, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- I honestly have no idea. I just thought it better to have the AfD fully blue and keep all of the references at the bottom than to have the blue box broken and have multiple ref templates (it is used at the bottom). I also was the second person to use a ref in the AfD - I typically only use external links - but I know the other editor has a lot of experience, so took his route. Sofia Airport
Why are you vandalising the page and making it worse than it was? You have added unreferenced charters to the list for airlines like BH Air and removed the reference for the charter that was actually referenced correctly. The reference column you have added is not per WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT neither is the way you've listed seasonal flights, we don't separate routes from winter and summer seasonal if they're seasonal, they're seasonal that's it, plain and simple. You've also removed references for routes, we're meant to be adding references to make the page better as referencing seems to be a massive problem for everyone on this particular page so why are you removing them? and reverting the table to a few weeks ago which is outdated and since then new references have been added which you have removed. You've also re added start dates for routes that started a week ago. Seems as though you don't want to make the page better as your edit has essentially vandalised the page and it now holds incorrect information and can not be changed as the page has again been protected. David Meyer
Hello,
I am reaching out for some more information about the rejected draft for Draft:David_Meyer_(football_player). Are the references not sufficient for notability? There have been articles in both Associated Press and the NYT about his career. And regarding a possible COI, I read the policy and disclosing in the edit summary is sufficient for Wikipedia's purposes. I look forward to your response. Bravo1138 (talk) 16:28, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Bravo1138: First, were you paid to write the article? You mentioned it was freelance. Second, no, the player does not currently pass WP:GNG, our general notability guideline, nor our specialised WP:NCOLLATH or WP:GRIDIRON. The NY Times articles fails our young athlete/high school sports policy, stats sites don't show notability (the sports reference/track stats), I have no idea what "Virginia Tech Sideline" is - is that his own site? if so, that fails WP:PRIMARY, the SI reference is nothing but a name drop in a list, and the journal times coverage of his college game and NFL signing is typically considered routine coverage. If you find more sources, feel free to add them to the article and resubmit. SportingFlyer talk 04:16, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

I will note you will likely find it difficult to find sources which qualify for this for the management team of a football club, an assistant coach for Dinamo Zagreb was recently deleted because there wasn't anything on him in the media apart from that he took a role with the team, but still, good luck! Milowent • hasspoken 20:17, 18 December 2018 (UTC)question answered
You asked a question here (and ignored the date format in the next edit), but I failed to mention the discussion on the problem editor's article. In short, 1) I want to encourage the editor to start using edit summaries and 2) the staff will be referenced using the staff reference by the start of the season and individual entries do not need references. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:55, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Walter Görlitz: No worries, just looked to me (entirely from a watchlist point of view) as if an edit which added a reference was reverted only for not using an edit summary. I agree with you we should encourage edit summaries, though. Also since there's no staff reference yet I've got no problem with keeping the reference in there for now, but it doesn't really matter. With regards to the date, apologies, I was on autopilot. SportingFlyer talk 04:02, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
Request on 15:56:48, 19 December 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Millennialteaching
Dear SportingFlyer, I read your comments to the article I want to publish on Wikipedia. You write that the article did not include secondary reliable resources. However, all cited sources are published national newspapers, national magazines, book reviews, and specialist journals. Moreover, you stated that the article reads like an essay. I do not understand this comment as this is clearly not an essay. So please clarify your feedback. Millennialteaching (talk) 15:56, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
Millennialteaching (talk) 15:56, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Millennialteaching: Hi, I did not actually note it did not include secondary reliable sources - the problem with the article as it stands is it reads like an essay which is promoting the idea instead of discussing it in a neutral encyclopedic tone. I did not actually look at the sources, since they are in Dutch and I would have to use a translation service to see if they are reliable or not, and because the references are not inline this makes it more difficult to review the article. Please rewrite the article to be less of an essay and in a neutral encyclopedic tone. Also, it's not technically necessary, but will make it easier to accept the article if the references match the sentence they support and not the paragraph. Quick note, since I see you're doing some expansion there: the contents of the 2009 LA Times and Washington Post articles are effectively the same, since they reprinted the same Les Carpenter AP report. Bakazaka (talk) 04:43, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted
Hi SportingFlyer. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Minor user rights can now be accorded on a time limited or probationary period, so do check back at WP:PERM/NPR in case this concerns your application. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance. so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. ~~Swarm~~ {talk} 08:56, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi SportingFlyer, I'm new to Wikipedia and made an edit for Fog Robotics. So, can you have a look and let me know if it still needs something?
Thank you Krish1804 (talk) 14:44, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Krish1804: I've rejected the draft, the example section lifted over five sentences of material almost verbatim from two different websites which is unacceptable, so it will need to be removed and rewritten. I have no comment on whether the article is notable, which is what you're ultimately looking for in terms of whether it will ever be accepted or not. The best places to start learning about this would be by following the links to WP:GNG and WP:NORG. Good luck! SportingFlyer talk 21:23, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

"Declining submission: athlete - Submission is about an athlete not yet shown to meet notability guidelines" He does pass WP:NHOCKEY actually, he played 21 games in Liiga which is more than enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wesley McPaper (talk • contribs) 18:42, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Wesley McPaper: My apologies, I thought I had responded to this. It was not at all clear from the article he had appeared in a league which passed WP:NHOCKEY, so I declined. It looks like he played a few games in the Finland top league but no mention of this in the article apart from his list of teams. I'll let someone else accept the article if it's not already accepted. SportingFlyer T·C 21:27, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Supporter groups
There is nothing wrong with citing, linking to supporter group websites, like there is nothing wrong with the use of sources from the clubs own website, it's done all the time. In fact, it's better to have both sources, there-fore you're covering all bases by having a primary and a secondary source. Govvy (talk) 21:14, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Govvy: Well, secondary sources are always preferred when available. I noticed the edit war on my watchlist and thought adding a secondary source would be a simple solution to keep the content and stop the reversions. I don't mind if you add the primary source back, but I'm not sure it's needed. SportingFlyer T·C 21:25, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, I am just not a fan of Walter's editing style. I think it's also ridicules that people would remove non-controversial primary sources. Govvy (talk) 21:30, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi @SportingFlyer: How are you? I'm going to hold an Rfc about this. I dont think it is right category to apply to an article about a child. scope_creepTalk 11:40, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Scope creep: Hi, have you initiated the RfC? According to the dictionary definition of the term, the category is appropriate (and I don't know why being a child would matter, based on the definition.) SportingFlyer T·C 18:57, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: No not yet. If you don't know why it is not suitable, then it is unlikely that I will be able to explain it to you. I really believe categorising a child into an adult category is wrong. I'll kick the RFC off on Sunday. I'll ping you when it is up. scope_creepTalk 19:05, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Scope creep: The lede of the article is: "Drag queens are people, usually male, who dress in women's clothing and often act with exaggerated femininity and in feminine gender roles with a primarily entertaining purpose." Based on my exposure to it I don't consider it an "adult" activity, and it appears this person has an article specifically because he is a child performer in the area. I don't think we'll come to an agreement here, but I would appreciate a ping when it is up, thanks! SportingFlyer T·C 19:14, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Furman University deletion
Hey I’ve reverted your revert on Furman University because you gave faulty reasoning. The reason you gave was “removed unsourced controversy section” but there is a reliable source, it’s even formatted correctly. I do think it probably shouldn’t be it’s own section. Maybe just a sentence near the end of the history section. Grey Wanderer (talk) 01:51, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- I've reverted your revert. The source was malformed when I saw it, so it was as good as unsourced, but it's still negative WP:NOTNEWS created by a WP:SPA who has only added controversy sections to Wofford and Furman. I don't mind if you add the source back somewhere else (with prose which uses the source more accurately) if you think it's worth mentioning, but it was not okay as it stood. Opinion needed
Hello! Meant to ask you, since I saw you being around football related AFDs. I found this by chance Ferhat Odabaşı. While I know he is supposed to pass WP:NFOOTY for appearing in a fully professional league, it seems that his sole claim for notability is that he "appeared in 5 matches (which I don't find anything special) for Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ in Süper Lig before he moved to a non fully professional league". Isn't that a blatant failure of WP:BLP1E? He doesn't seem to have appeared back into Süper Lig AND obviously fails WP:GNG so that can't save him. Pageviews are to no surprise absolutely horrible. https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews?pages=Ferhat_Odaba%C5%9F%C4%B1&project=wiki.riteme.site Jovanmilic97 (talk) 14:26, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Jovanmilic97: I'm really not worried about that article. We're in the process of determining whether the Turkish second division meets the fully professional league requirement, he otherwise had a lengthy career, and while I don't read Turkish there are a number of non-directory sites which pop up with his name during a quick search, so perhaps it can be sourced. Pageviews are irrelevant for determining notability, and there's a difference between WP:BLP1E and satisfying our notability criteria - he appeared five times, so there's not "one event" he's known for. He's known for being a professional football player over a period of years who happens to qualify under our guidelines, and our guidelines exist so we can easily tell who gets an article and who doesn't when we have an entire world to look after. However, you're not wrong to ask - keep on the lookout for players who pass WP:NFOOTY but can only be sourced to directory websites such as soccerway or national-football-teams. Hope that helps! David Nemer
Hi SportingFlyer. You are one of the editors/voters on the DRV for David Nemer's article. I got a notification that the DRV discussion has been closed, and the conclusion was to let the article to be drafted and, then, have an editor moving it to the main space whenever he/she finds it ready. I have prepared the draft a while ago, and some people went there and also contributed to the article. I have also solicited it to be reviewed, but since you have looked at it before, I was wondering if could you review it and check if you deem it ready? Thanks! --Wikisharktank (talk) 16:49, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Wikisharktank: Did I previously comment on the article at AfC? I have no recollection of it. I'd prefer if an editor uninvolved at the DRV would take a look, to be honest - I'm not great with WP:PROF articles, and it seems to be written on the promotional side. Naraht (talk) 15:19, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Could you explain why you think the accept of Oberlin Academy Preparatory School was a bad one? Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk) 01:15, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: Of course. It was declined at AfC twice. Within an hour of the second decline, another AfC reviewer resubmitted the article to AfC after noticing it was declined and accepted without changing a thing: [6] Our standard is likely to pass an AfD, and that article at AfC would be unlikely to pass an AfD without a copious WP:BEFORE search. (I may be wrong if it gets through on some school notability hook, but I always look at references at AfC regardless.) The time I went to accept an article that had been declined, I discussed the article with the user who had just declined it before I went back, added a source or two, and accepted it. It just feels a bit like gaming the system. I have no problem with keeping the current article, which has been vastly improved. SportingFlyer T·C 01:32, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- SportingFlyer Thank you for your explanation. I appreciate your thinking and the time you spent writing it out. I do disagree with your critique, however. I would argue that it's the second decliner who got it wrong, after the sources had be refilled, and perhaps the first. The standard, as you say, isn't what shape it is in. It is whether it is likely to pass an AfD. If this had been made directly in mainspace, never going to AfC, there is a decent chance that a new page reviewer would have nominated it for deletion, but that is no certain thing. And if it goes to AfD, it would likely not have attracted the attention this nomination has, but would still have stood a great chance of surviving - SCHOOLOUTCOMES tells us as much. OUTCOMES isn't a reason to keep at AfD, but it absolutely should be a factor in an AfC reviewer deciding to keep or reject. It reflects what the community does and schools are likely to pass an AfD - as this very article shows. I would suggest that there is an issue at AfC with rejecting too much stuff - I was saying it while I was a merge on this article and I'm saying it here where I nominated something that had been accepted for deletion. NPP, is where we don't pass the buck. AfC's standard should be lower and any regular good AfC reviewer should, in my opinion, have some number of deleted accepts. If a regular AfC reviewer doesn't have any than the standard they're using is "Will pass an AfD" not the actual standard of "Is likely to pass an AfD". Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk) 01:48, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: I disagree with you on the second decliner getting it wrong, since the only thing that changed between the first submit and the second submit is the bare references were filled in. I agree the AfC standard should be lower than at AfD but I also don't want to accept something that might ultimately be deleted. I'd prefer to have the submitter get it up to standard. Also, in my opinion, it's not the role of an AfC reviewer to make a bad submission good, or to assume a bad submission will survive an AfD. I've done that a couple of times, but it should be optional. SportingFlyer T·C 02:01, 12 February 2019 (UTC
- SportingFlyer the AfC standard shouldn't be lower than AfD it is lower than AfD. We should not be holding articles in draft space to make the authors bring it up to the standards we wish they would have. We should be holding articles in draft space until their authors write something that is likely to survive at AfD. That's it. Much of what goes through AfC cannot even do that and of course we should be declining them. But this article, to me, is a perfect example of an article that gets declined against the consensus of the community as expressed in the policy and guidelines. Thanks and Best wishes, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:16, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: Ah, your reply stated that "AfC's standard should be lower than AfD," and I agreed. But to be honest, it's difficult in practice. I don't think I've ever accepted an article I would !vote delete on at an AfD. I don't think this elevates the standard to the AfD level, either - I would say the AfC standard is "I would !vote Keep at AfD." There are ways around this too - I find commenting on articles I'm in the grey zone about to be more productive than rejecting or accepting at times, since it gives the creator some feedback, and someone else at AfC a concern to review, as not every AfD vote or AfC review is a clear yes/no keep/delete binary vote. For this article I guess you could argue the first two rejected drafts passed WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES #2 with the brief book mention, and note part of my feedback here is my general unfamiliarity with the schools guideline. But would it not have been better for the accepting user to try and have a conversation with the two users who rejected the draft? We've now had a lengthy AfD and brief DRV on the subject, and the conflict could have been resolved much more easily. I guess we've at least got a decent article out of it. SportingFlyer T·C 05:10, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Request on 15:30:25, 13 February 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by KyleLes
Hello. Thanks for your feedback on the Titan FTP Server article. Based on my review of articles on Cerberus FTP Server, which only included references to the vendor's website, and CompleteFTP, which contains no references at all, I thought that I was writing a notable, well-referenced article. There are 2 other servers that I'd like to cover, but I can't even get past my first article. Can you please explain to me why the articles that I've noted meet the guidelines, and mine does not? I'm a new editor, and I'm trying to follow the rules and be a good contributor. I'm a user of this software because it's recommended by Cisco (as noted in my article), but even that doesn't qualify as a notable 3rd party source.
KyleLes (talk) 15:30, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- @KyleLes: Sure! First, we have a rule called "other stuff exists," or WP:OSE - just because another product has an article doesn't mean a similar article will be accepted or notable. Unfortunately, the two articles you've chosen to base your article on are not very good. CompleteFTP should probably be deleted. It was proposed for deletion but the article creator removed it. Cerberus FTP Server was nominated for deletion and kept, but the article was never updated with the sources discovered at the deletion discussion. This wasn't the best discussion in my mind, but here is the discussion demonstrating the sources other users deemed notable: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Cerberus_FTP_Server. The Cisco source does not cover TitanFTP significantly (WP:SIGCOV) as it only mentions the name of the FTP server and a link to the company's website - we're looking for independent secondary coverage (articles, books, et cetera.) Please let me know if you have any other questions. SportingFlyer T·C 18:55, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Wiki Incorrect league assessment soccer
Hi there, you rejected the Shane McInerney professional soccer player page because you said he never played in a pro league. I’m trying to create pages for Irish players and firstly the Irish league is a pro league with teams competing in Europe league and champions league. As for the list you linked, the player in question has played in the NASL. Which is on the list, even though it’s no longer a league. So he meets the requirement there, and in the leagues which should be on the list. Thanks MonDon2019 (talk) 16:47, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
- @MonDon2019: Hi, the Irish league is not in our list of fully professional leagues, required to pass WP:NFOOTY. Also, the Armada did not play in NASL when he played for them but the NPSL. See: [7]. He does not pass WP:NFOOTY and does not appear to otherwise be notable. I would encourage you to continue creating pages for Irish players, but note they do not get automatic notability presumptions. I would look for feature stories written specifically on the player to ensure they would pass a deletion discussion. SportingFlyer T·C 18:34, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Why?
Of the millions of articles, why did you choose the one that I wrote, J. Kellogg Parsons, to put a deletion notice. See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(academics)
Criteria
Academics/professors meeting any one (bold is not mine but in the original) of the following conditions, as substantiated through reliable sources, are notable.
5. The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.
Please do not cause trouble and AFD it but if you are really in for a fight, I will let you win as I am retiring from Wikipedia. Please don't use this knowledge to take advantage of me. Cheesesteak1 (talk) 05:42, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
OK, why don't you just put an AFD BUT also note that the person meets criteria 5. You can write "I think the person is not notable but I have been informed he does meet criteria 5. Still, I, SportingFlyer, advocate delete" Let the public decide. I may or may not see the AFD. Or let me know that you now believe AFD is not needed. Artcile marked for deletion
Hello, I noticed you marked my article for deletion. I am wondering what can I improve to not have this article deleted, I have worked on the article for over a week and tried improving. I noticed you marked the reason that I moved it after it was declined, but it was declined for not having enough sources after which I spent loads of edits (clearly visible in the history) adding notable sources and making it read less like an Artcile, I feel like stating that I moved it after it was declined isn't a fair way of putting this since I changed the article a bunch, added new information and backed up the old information with outside sources.
Hope to hear from you soon, thank you ! VindevogelTaho (talk) 12:24, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- @VindevogelTaho: Hi, typically the AfC process allows editors to review articles before moving them into mainspace. I would have declined this article if it had remained in draftspace. It reads like an advertisement and many of the sources don't count towards notability as they are either press releases, not reliable, or only mention the company in passing. If you want to contest the deletion you are allowed to do so by removing the PROD notice, but please note I will nominate it to see if it's notable at a deletion discussion. I honestly would remove the PROD, move it back to draftspace, clean up the prose, and make the notability clear from the sources, and resubmit. SportingFlyer T·C 20:31, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
I will move it to draftspace and try to improve the article, thanks for the help! VindevogelTaho (talk) 12:24, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- @VindevogelTaho: If you'd like, let me know when you're done and I'll review it again. If you do, please identify the three best sources to show notability for me, regardless of language, and I'll let you know if it's ready. SportingFlyer T·C 21:52, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: I have updated the article and added part above it with the 3 best sources. I mainly added more history and a small part to the about page. If the part reads too much like an advertisement you can delete it again. I'm not sure about that part, I find it hard to draw a line between factual writing and making it sound interesting. Either way, thank you for giving me some feedback and helping me improve the article, I hope to hear back from you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VindevogelTaho (talk • contribs) 10:01, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: I have moved the comments I made about the article to the Drafts Talk page so it doesn't interfere with the article. It is now ready for review again whenever you find some time.
- Thank you for the help, hope to hear from you soon VindevogelTaho (talk) 12:22, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- @VindevogelTaho: The same two problems still exist: 1) I can't determine the article's notability, and 2) the article's still written encyclopedically. #1 is purely a language issue since I can't tell if the sources are reliable or not. The HLN article [8] appears okay to me, though - I've noted this on the draft page. 2) is the larger problem, but if other users think #1 is satisfied, it should be fixable. Good luck! - Thank you for the help, hope to hear from you soon VindevogelTaho (talk) 12:22, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: I assume you mean the article isn't written encyclopedically. I will try to improve the article to make it as neutral as possibe, I do however come from a business background and to me this is pretty neutral. Are there certain parts that make it not neutral for you ? For the notability, can I do anything to prove the notability of these articles since they're in another language. (first one isn't behind a paywall, but you do need an account to read it I think.) Anyways, thanks a lot for the help and in the mean time I'll wait incase someone can review it that speaks dutch :) VindevogelTaho (talk) 14:40, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi SportingFlyer, I'm Cameron11598 and I'm one of the Arbitration Committee's clerks. I recently removed a comment you made on the Gun Control Clarification Request as a clerk action, specifically the one in the Survey section as it falls under the larger header Gun control: Arbitrator views and discussion. Unfortunately that section is reserved for members of the Arbitration Committee. If you have any questions regarding this action feel free to either ping me to this page using {{re|Cameron11598}}
at the start of your message or leave a message on my talk page. --Cameron11598 (Talk) 21:36, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Cameron11598: Sorry about that, I made my way there from DRV didn't realise that was a reserved section. I'll refrain from commentating at AC in the future. Thanks! SportingFlyer T·C 23:20, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.17
Hello SportingFlyer,
- News
- The WMF has announced that Google Translate is now available for translating articles through the content translation tool. This may result in an increase in machine translated articles in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to use the {{rough translation}} tag and gently remind (or inform) editors that translations from other language Wikipedia pages still require attribution per WP:TFOLWP.
- Discussions of interest
- Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
- {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
- A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
- There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
- Reminders
- NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
- NPP Tools Report
- Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
- copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
- The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

Hi. While doing NPP, I noticed that you accepted 2019 Sun Belt Conference football season from AfC. I see no indication that this season meets WP:NSEASON as it seems to lack any well sourced prose. Would you object to my moving it back to draftspace? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:24, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: I almost rejected it on WP:CRYSTAL grounds, but I checked to see when the 2018 season article was created, and that happened in February 2018. I think we're far too lenient on WP:SEASON articles as they stand as far too many of them fail WP:NOTSTATS, but the 2019 schedule is out and the American football wiki's broadly inclusionist, so I figured it would survive an AfD. Feel free to take any action you see fit! SportingFlyer T·C 18:28, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- SportingFlyer I know I've been lenient myself on SEASON articles at times but after running into an editor who wouldn't stop creating bad ones I've decided to apply the "letter of the law." Will be moving this back to draft, thanks. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:30, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

- @Manager1kz: Unfortunately I'm not confident enough with Russian to make a definitive answer on whether the article passes WP:GNG, and I'm concerned the article is written promotionally instead of encyclopaedically. Someone at AfC will get around to it soon! SportingFlyer T·C 05:47, 26 April 2019 (UTC)

To be honest, I'm actually not all that active a participant at the copyvio noticeboard — I pop in sometimes when a request that's already there pertains to an article I've already been involved with for crossover reasons, but I'm not a regular visitor or an active copyvio-wiper. So about all I can suggest is to be sure you know what kinds of processes people tend to follow in dealing with a copyvio request, and jump in to help if and when something sparks your fancy as an issue you want to look into. A lot of the time the most appropriate way to deal with a copyvio comes down to personal judgement calls, to be honest: sometimes it's so grievous as to require total speedy deletion, and other times it's fixable with a simple rewrite followed by revision deletion of the offending edits. You mentioned on my talk page that you were unable to review some articles in The Boston Globe. Are you aware of WP:LIBRARY? The Globe articles are on-line, via newspapers.com. There's a subscription required, but as a wikipedia editor, you can get a guest subscription which gives you access for free. It's a wonderful tool for checking references. Alaska Airlines destinations follow up
Looks like that's correct: [1] However no one knows it's Horizon as Horizon planes are branded Alaska. What's the rule on this? SportingFlyer T·C 07:05, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Your citation is incorrect and outdated. Alaska was thinking in 2018 of starting service but never did. Horizon Air did when the airport opened for airline traffic in early March. See [2] following Alaska Airlines decision to push back the start of Horizon Airlines flights from February 11th to early March. [3] “We’ve had our setbacks, we’ve had our delays, but today is the day,” said Gary Beck, CEO and president of Alaska Air’s Horizon Air subsidiary, which will be handling operations in Everett. [4] Horizon Air is providing the all-jet service on the Embraer 175 aircraft, which features first class and premium class seating. Aerostar3 (talk) 03:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
What's the rule on this? See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports/Archive_17#Potential_Major_Change_to_WP:Airports:_Removing_Regional_Carrier_Listings_from_Airport_Articles
I'm following the text of the article, that it is only Alaska Airlines destinations. If Wikipedia wants to change it to List of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air destinations, this is also a possibility. Aerostar3 (talk) 03:51, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

2018-19 Veria F.C. season
Dear SportingFlyer,
I would be more than glad to ask you to have a look over the expansion I did to the draft of Veria F.C. season 2018-19 article. I’ve already submitted for review but none had a look yet at it.
If more is needed to make it eligible for acceptance please let me know as I’m trying my best and I’m working on very limited sources to expanded it on my own and working very hard on it as Veria is my hometown’s team and my favorite one and I’m trying to keep a complete high profile page for the team!
Kind regards, PanosBonJovi (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @PanosBonJovi: Could you please provide the link to the draft? I'm still not sure it will pass our WP:NSEASONS guideline, but I will have a look. SportingFlyer T·C 22:19, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:2018%E2%80%9319_Veria_F.C._season here's the link!
Thanks in advance! PanosBonJovi (talk) 22:27, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- I won't accept the article at this time - it's borderline, the sources are in Greek, and I don't have time at the moment to translate them all and see if they're reliable. However, amateur seasons don't typically get kept, but I think you may be close to passing WP:GNG. Your best bet for improvement will be to reference the opening part of the article - you can reuse references from below, but if you can show beyond a doubt Greek media covered the Veria season in spite of their amateur league status, you may have a shot at keeping the article at AfD. SportingFlyer T·C 22:34, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: Isn't the links used for match reports a strong indicator that media did cover the season? I added more sources from various Greek media websites on the opening paragraph as you suggested as well! KerkidaSport.gr is the main website that covers Veria's news each year for many years now as well, if that also counts and also every major site. Gamma Ethniki used to be a professional league but in recent years they made it the top tier of amateur divisions. After that, there are the local divisions. Just a question, why was the 2013–14 AEK Athens F.C. season accepted then?
Thanks for the help and your time!
Kind regards, PanosBonJovi (talk) 23:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @PanosBonJovi: I agree with you, I'm just letting you know I have to review whether the draft will be deleted, and regardless of the sourcing, amateur teams tend to get deleted, so your best bet is making sure the sourcing is great and clearly shows the article passes the WP:GNG guideline. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2017–18 Leyton Orient F.C. season. It doesn't look like the AEK Athens season was made in draft space from what I can tell. SportingFlyer T·C 23:16, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: Well, my article was moved to drafts cause it lacked of sources but the AEK Athens article I mentioned above seems that it also lacks of sources, unless i'm mistaken, and it's also written for an amateur division (the same amateur division which Veria played to this year)! Anyway thanks for helping me over this one, hopefully my latest sources and updates are enough to keep the article alive as I spend a lot of time and effort to keep every Veria themed article up to date and I worked on this specific article as well! If more is needed, i'd be glad to try and add them!
- @PanosBonJovi: Good luck! SportingFlyer T·C 23:50, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

- @SportingFlyer: Any update on my draft? Still no news and review is pending .

Thanks and a question
Thanks for reviewing the article on the IGL Recording Co. I have a question for you though. I get why the book on the studio is not acceptable due to it being tied somewhat closely to the principals of the studio itself - especially after revisiting the guideline cited.
Why is the article from Arf! Arf! Records, authored by Tom Tourville, not acceptable? The site the article is a part of is focused on the reunion for the IGL region and not the studio specifically. It is maintained by a 3rd party not connected to the studio. The studio is a part of the regions history and is included in the site for that reason. Tourville's article provides 3rd party corroboration of much of the information contained in the book. Tourville himself is not connected to the studio in any way. He writes on the music history in the northern part of the state as that's where he grew up. I would contend that it is in the same league as the Explore Okoboji article. If I am remembering correctly there is a audio interview with John Senn included on the EO site which also corroborates much of the books information.
I thank you again for your review and look forward to your response.THX1136 (talk) 00:06, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- @THX1136: Could you please link me to the article again? I'll take another look. SportingFlyer T·C 00:32, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- http://www.arfarfrecords.com/arfarf/igl/iglrec.html The site has 3 pages - the open, Roof Garden and a page on the studio. It is maintained by Aram Heller.
- Thanks for taking a second look. This question also occurred: If I strip out the specifics that are only verified in the book, would that take care of the the issue? I think I can retain much of the info with the other two resources, along with the interview info.
- @THX1136: Sorry, I meant the draft article. I was able to search through my contributions and find it. The trouble I have with the Arf! Arf! records is that it strongly appears self-published. While self-published sources can be okay, I am not convinced this is a reliable source, and it may be self-serving. Furthermore, what's important here is demonstrating notability in the project's eyes and self-published sources cannot be used to demonstrate notability. The Explore Okoboji article at least appeared to be from mainstream media sources, and I gave it the benefit of the doubt. My advice to you would be to seek out other reliable secondary sources which significantly cover the topic in order to prove the studio's notability beyond a doubt, and good luck! SportingFlyer T·C 13:05, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. I got in touch with Tom Tourville who wrote the article that Heller included at the Arf! Arf! site. Tourville has written several books that deal with the IA/MN music scene from the 60s and beyond. I'm hoping that one of his books was the source for the article quoted by Heller at Arf!Arf! I appreciate the time you've taken on this. THX1136 (talk) 18:32, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.18
Hello SportingFlyer,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:
- Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
- Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
- Reliable Sources for NPP
Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.
- Backlog drive coming soon
Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.
- News
- Following a request for comment, the subject-specific notability guideline for pornographic actors and models (WP:PORNBIO) was removed; in its place, editors should consult WP:ENT and WP:GNG.
