ENDLF

I hope this reaches you Obi2canibe... I'm not sure why you believe ENDLF is a pro-Sri Lankan group while it is clearly not based on its actions in India. http://www.liberationmarch.com/ they are currently marching from Chennai to New Delhi demanding the Indian government intervene in Sri Lanka and implement Indo-SL accord, which is clearly an anti-GOSL point of view. EDNFL still maintain their objective as the struggle for Tamil Eelam according to their website. You have also misspelled name of the Leader of the org. It is in fact Gnanaparagasam Gnanasekaran. You may look at their website http://www.endlf.com/ or from http://www.liberationmarch.com/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alpha0710 (talkcontribs) 22:17, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for contacting me about the ENDLF article. I must admit I don't know much about ENDLF.
I know they were involved in Karuna's defection to GOSL and were closely linked with the TMVP which is definitely a pro-government paramilitary group. Yet you say their website says they are committed to the struggle for Tamil Eelam. Is it possible that there are two factions, one based in Sri Lanka which is pro-government and one based in exile which is pro-Eelam? The websites could be run by the pro-Eelam faction? You may be aware that there two factions of the EPRLF: the official one which is part of the TNA and a breakaway faction which is closely linked to the EPDP/GOSL. The EPRLF website is run by the breakaway faction. You will need to do some research to find out if there are two factions. If you want to correct the spelling of their leader go ahead.--obi2canibetalk contr 12:06, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Contents of the United States diplomatic cables leak (Sri Lanka) article

I don't think it is necessary to add the Sri Lankan conflict template to the above article. United States diplomatic cables leak is a separate subject that has nothing to do with Sri Lankan Civil War. Its true, almost all the cables released up to now deals with that subject. But a mere 40 cables out of 3300 are released yet, isn't it? The others may deal with Sri Lankan politics, international relations and subjects we still don't know, in addition to the civil war. Moreover, WikiLeaks deserves no place in the Sri Lankan ethnic conflict. The cables are mere diplomatic gossip. The conflict has its own origins, phases and various other aspects that should be included in such a template. WikiLeaks is not directly related to any of these. That is why no other Cablegate fork includes templates of its corresponding country. Therefore, I will remove the template from the article. Astronomyinertia (talk) 16:31, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

I disagree but I'm not going to pursue the issue. You're right that only a fraction of the cables relating to SL have been released so far but because the civil war has been the dominant issue for last 30 years it is likely that most of the other cables will have some content relating to the civil war. At the moment all of the content of the article is related to the civil war so it would appear appropriate to include Template:Sri Lankan Conflict. If, and when, the article contains mostly non-civil war content the template can be removed.
Although the cables aren't related to the civil war, the content of the article is. The purpose of templates is to point readers to related contents. For example, someone reading Militant use of children in Sri Lanka might be interested to know that Contents of the United States diplomatic cables leak (Sri Lanka) also contains content on militant use of children. Without the template they wouldn't necessarily know that the cables article existed.
Your assertion that no other cablegate articles contain templates isn't correct: Australia, China, Iran, Israel, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and UAE all have country topic templates at the foot of the articles. If we were to follow their examples Template:Sri Lanka topics would need to be included in Contents of the United States diplomatic cables leak (Sri Lanka). Is this template more appropriate than the Template:Sri Lankan Conflict? --obi2canibetalk contr 21:47, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
I have no objection to the addition of Template:Sri Lanka topics to the article.Astronomyinertia (talk) 17:58, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Local government in Sri Lanka

Hello! Your submission of Local government in Sri Lanka at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! 4meter4 (talk) 22:52, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I nominated this for discussion at TFD as I believe the infobox district can cover it and there is no need for a separate template. Keep up the good work though on Sri Lankan topics!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:07, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
