DYK for David Burbank
On 26 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article David Burbank, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that David Burbank, a dentist, founded Burbank, California? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/David Burbank. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, David Burbank), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Gritty page
Please refrain from pushing an ideological bias on a non-political wikipedia page, thank you.Belregard (talk) 20:01, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- You don't get to decide what is political or not, reliable sources do. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:04, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Hey--I can't dive too deeply into it now, but those DocumentCloud links, those citations make no sense to me, and while I suppose the one text I looked at was not copyrighted (right? cause the guy worked for the state? I don't know), I'm wondering about the totality of it. Also, I clicked the wrong button when I block-conflicted with you, but I reverted back to your block. And one more thing: all of a sudden Instagram is showing me funny baseball videos, so now I know it's not all just incredibly boring. There was a guy who bunted on purpose so he could knock down the pitcher on his his way to first base--that was hilarious. Drmies (talk) 17:41, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- Drmies I haven't clicked on the DocumentCloud links but I would guess they are primary documents that are not as helpful as secondary sources. The SPA was also blanking content on another page. And, you're in luck because the 2023 MLB season is right around the corner. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:46, 28 January 2023 (UTC)

- I saw it on a tv in a restaurant. Was gonna point it out to you when I got back home. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:39, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- I hope the day comes that we get to split an appetizer. I'll even let you hold the remote, but if it's baseball you better tell me good stories. Drmies (talk) 02:03, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

Nasty
No need to be nasty to someone when they make accurate edits to Wikipedia. You violate the spirit of this platform.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wesley Craig (talk • contribs) 19:56, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

A little aside between us two
Hey Muboshgu, moving this off of Bensweetra's talk page as I think it's aggravating the situation and they appear to have a bit of a short fuse. I just wanted to let you know that my intent is not to argue that mlbtraderumours is unreliable, only that at first blush it appears unreliable due to its name, its content/purpose as stated in their About Us page, and the (very underwhelming) consensus at RSN. My suggestion to run it by RNS again wasn't an attempt to be pedantic or add paperwork, I just thought it would be useful to have a new discussion to point to if others unfamiliar with the site see it being used in the future. Believe it or not I was trying to be helpful (ha)! I'll step away now. Cheers,-- Ponyobons mots 20:16, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ponyo, I know you're trying to help. I agree that their fuse is shortened, and I think the warning templates contributed to it (including the ones I used). Definitely best to take further discussion off of their page. I do think they're trying to be helpful but they're not fully competent yet, not knowing how to cite sources in articles. I think that they can get there and that we need to back off for that to happen, aside from providing guidance like the help pages. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:57, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Contentious Topic alert
Just a heads up, but there's a CT restriction in place at the Hunter Biden page, the enforced BRD or whatever it's called. You must follow the bold-revert-discuss cycle if your change is reverted. You may not reinstate your edit until you post a talk page message discussing your edit and have waited 24 hours from the time of this talk page message
. I am hard pressed to see how a direct quote from a top tier source could constitute a BLP violation. Mr Ernie (talk) 19:59, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- Mr Ernie, I'm not the one who made the bold change. I reverted it. Then you reverted that without discussion. We can hash it out on the drama boards if you want, but it's a clear BLP violation as the edit presents those words as a direct quote from the lawyers speaking on behalf of Hunter, but it was not a quote from the lawyers. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:04, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not one for the boards - just giving you a heads up because it's technically a violation. I thought you reverted it as a mistake, that you perhaps didn't look at the source to see that it was a verbatim quote from the source. That statement is not intended to be quote from the lawyers, but as the source's interpretation of their filing. That's not a BLP violation, just regular journalism. Mr Ernie (talk) 20:12, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- It was not a mistake as I have read the source. The source says
Lawyers for Hunter Biden sent letters Wednesday requesting investigations into allies of former President Donald Trump who they say trafficked in stolen information from his laptop — a dramatic shift in strategy for the president’s son after years of GOP attacks.
The reverted edit saidIn February 2023, Biden attorneys claimed that individuals "trafficked in stolen information from his laptop",
NBC News did not quote the lawyers in that statement, but the other editor did quote it and falsely attributed it to Hunter's lawyers. That's a BLP violation. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:16, 2 February 2023 (UTC)- Sorry but I'm not understanding the difference at all between the two versions, much less how it could be a BLP violation. To me they are functionally the same. Maybe just remove the quotation marks? Mr Ernie (talk) 20:23, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ah ok I see, you say the phrase in quotes was not from the lawyers, which is true. I was saying it was in quotes because it was a direct quote from the source. Mr Ernie (talk) 20:28, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- Right, it's a direct quote from the reporters who wrote the article, not the lawyers, but was presented as a quote from the lawyers. I read the primary source letter, they used lawyer-speak to not admit the laptop belongs to Hunter. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:30, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

William H. Steiwer assessment
- Thank you for assessing the quality/importance of the new article on William H. Steiwer. You assessed it as a level. I thought it was pretty comprehensive … what needs to be added to get it up level. I am willing to spend time improving the article if you can identify the area(s) that need more work. Also, according to WikiProject Oregon assessment rules third bullet under green People bar … politicians who serve in the state house/senate should be rated Low importance unless they served in multiple places or had a leadership role in their branch (e.g Speaker of the House, President of the Senate, etc), then importance should Mid. Since Steiwer was Senate President, I believe he should qualifies as a Mid importance subject, at least in the WikiProject Oregon category.--Orygun (talk) 01:13, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- It might be a B-class. To be honest, I didn't look at it too closely, but just recognized that it was at least a C. And the rater script automatically adds low importance. I can take another look later. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:15, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

Absolutely can't believe (yet somehow, not surprised) the LeBron story was both pulled and closed before allowing arguments for re-posting, but at least now there's receipts against posting the next football/cricket record to be broken, which will surely be proposed by the same individuals opposing this. The Kip (talk) 16:30, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- The Kip, it was posted and pulled? I didn't see that until just now. Some of the arguments made there are ridiculous as people just can't get their heads outside of their own personal worldviews. ITN is little more than disasters, deaths, and elections. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:46, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Maybe you can have a look at this and tell me what you think of those edits. I don't think this is a new editor either. Drmies (talk) 03:27, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- Drmies, that they jump straight into adding that content with the proper citation template on their first edit and then following up on other pages does seem like sock-ish behavior. They're adding a news report from today, which might matter enough to have some sort of WP:LASTING impact, but I dunno. At least they didn't try to put it on the pages of those Democrats, who were not involved it seems. – Muboshgu (talk) 04:20, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.
If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Opposition Section - Nikki Haley 2024 Presidential Campaign Article
Hey there,
You undid an edit of mine that added an "opposition" section to the mentioned article. I do not think its the right call because the opposition (and the relationships between the candidates) in the '24 primaries is a key element in understanding Haley's campaign.
The '24 GOP primaries, and each individual campaign, is inherently motivated by the relationships between the key players. Additionally, In an election where each candidate (declared or anticipated) has adopted such similar policy stances, the true motivating factor for voters and campaigns alike are the personality, relationships, and messaging of and between the candidates. This is reflected in the reporting on Nikki's campaign, how her campaign may impact the overall candidate field, and the primary election itself (see: cpac v. club for growth situation). Haley's campaign announcement itself was controversial for her prior promise to not run if Trump did. So from its inception, this campaign has been morphed by Haley's relation to other candidates. This is true for the other candidates, too; the most recent example would be Trump's recent preemptory attack on Desantis. The opposition section's inclusion provides brief, fundamental background knowledge towards helping readers understand the context surrounding and directly impacting her campaign.
You say that 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries covers this opposition topic. It is nothing more than a mere list of people who have declared or are suspected to declare, with some polling and debate information. It lacks any relation to the substantial role oppositional relationships play in the development of the primary campaigns and, eventually, the primaries themselves.
My proposed section does exactly that, with a specific focus on Haley. Again, a huge motivating factor in the development of both Haley's campaign and the primary race is the relation and interaction between the candidates. So you are right when you say "This is Nikki Haley's campaign." and this is her article. My section belongs here as an informative segment of a catalog of her campaign. A key undercurrent of that campaign are things like attacks on other candidates, polling, and methods Haley uses to distinguish herself from other candidates; all of which my section covered. These are key undercurrents to her race because they matter to the campaign, are highly calculated, and speak to the strength, intention, description of Haley, her message, her reception, media coverage, and–ultimately–her campaign itself.
The key takeaway here is that Nikki Haley's campaign and its actions have been and will continue to be directly impacted by the opposition in the race. Therefore, my proposed section–highlighting a limited number of key statements from Haley and from others about Haley–provides educational, objective, and necessary information to readers.
I understand your concern about including content that may be tangental to Haley's campaign. I'm sure there is room for tailoring the section to ensure that each line is directly referencing all of the elements I've mentioned. But scrapping the whole section does not serve the Wikimedia mission statement to collect and develop education content.
I hope we can discuss more and find a solution that works for both of us.
Best,

Karrin Taylor Robson Article
Hello,
Most of what you are putting on your wikipedia article is inaccurate, I am simply trying to update the page to ensure accuracy. Did you lock the page to prevent editing? Lightbulbon (talk) 20:45, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- Lightbulbon, I locked the page to prevent your edit warring. Your changes have made the page worse. You made it look like a resume, which is contrary to our purpose. You also removed references. I do not know why you did this, only that locking the page appeared to be the only way to get you to engage in discussion. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:46, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- I am simply trying to make it accurate. I want it to be a clearer picture for what Karrin is for, is that not the purpose? Trying to clean up the inaccuracies of the page. Is the point of Wikipedia pages not to educate people on the background and careers of these people? The truth will always prevail. Lightbulbon (talk) 20:57, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- What is your purpose then if it is not for the sharing of individuals accurate data? Lightbulbon (talk) 20:59, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

- Can you help me then? I looked at Megyn Kelly's page and copied the layout. What then should I change to follow the guidelines? Lightbulbon (talk) 21:01, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- This is the diff. You changed the office in the infobox and you added a mention of Kay Orr that is not supported by any sources. The "professional affiliations list is not anything I see in Megyn Kelly's article, and is prohibited by WP:NOTRESUME. You deleted a good number of references that are valid. Again, what are you looking to fix from what's in the article now? – Muboshgu (talk) 21:19, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- I am looking to update her bio. Quotes listed per partial and mislead readers. The fact that she is no longer on the Board of Regents is another example as to why this is not updated accurately. I also added a lot more information to the list. How can you help us get all of the information accurate that is on there? Can you help? Lightbulbon (talk) 22:42, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- What is Wikipedia then? Lightbulbon (talk) 22:44, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- What quotes mislead readers? The article says that she is no longer on the Board of Regents. The infobox notes that her tenure there ended in 2021. The article body notes that she resigned. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:03, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

Reversed edit
Greetings. Last night you reversed an edit I made on the MKUltra page. You claimed I said something & failed to provide a citation. I apologize if this is a stupid question, but what exactly within the edit did you feel needed a citation? Genuinely asking here; it was just a description of a song, so I personally don’t feel any of it really needs a source. Thank you. 人07 (talk) 23:26, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- 人07, hi. We generally ask for sources for two reasons. First, verification. Second, weight. Just because something is true doesn't mean we include it in a certain article, otherwise they get overloaded. See Wikipedia:"In popular culture" content for more about how that's handled. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:22, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 20:51, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

OH MANDY
I'm still legit not sure what you were asking at ITN/C, and thought better of trying (perhaps in vain) to get to the bottom of it there (think of the edit conflicts). But yes, WP:MANDY. A guideline explaining that denial is an implicit form of guilty plea without using those exact words. Is Trump a known liar? Yes. Does he claim to speak the truth. Yes. Did he falsify records? Yes. Is he formally merely accused? Yes. I hope if this is not now clearer, it's at least a start. And no, I don't think you honestly believed Putin was arrested, it just came out that way, cheers! InedibleHulk (talk) 01:30, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- InedibleHulk, I wasn't sure why MANDY was relevant. Like, yes, Trump will enter a not guilty plea, and he will say the things that he said at Mar-a-Lago. But that's not the point. The news is that Trump has been arraigned, which I get is an expected result of the indictment by the grand jury, but it's still newsworthy itself. (Yes, I misspoke around Putin. If only he was in an orange jumpsuit.) – Muboshgu (talk) 01:37, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- He has made 34 not guilty pleas. The judge enters them. But that's not the point. Anyway, it is newsworthy and not that prejudicial, considering how we've already basically called him an insurrectionist on the Main Page. If Putin is arrested, he won't wear an orange jumpsuit, though. That's a Hollywood movie myth (all Russians wear cyanide belts). InedibleHulk (talk) 01:43, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- We called Trump an insurrectionist on the Main Page? I must have missed that. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:47, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

- This is the blurb I was misremembering. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:00, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- But he was impeached for incitement of insurrection (I had forgotten that was the specific charge). That's according to the U.S. House, not us. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:09, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- The point is (possibly, currently) that it was a trumped-up charge and I don't remember us posting the subsequent acquittal. If (as some allege) the public gets its information from Wikipedia's Main Page, those ignorant bastards must think he was guilty, since the charge seemed more "significant". Bang and Blame, yo. It's not our thing, though, so I'll let it go. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:15, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand that point. Charges are Page One, and exonerations are in a later section below the fold. This charge (or rather, 34 charges) is less serious than the jeopardy that he's facing in Fulton County, or from the special counsel, or the NY AG, but it's clearly being treated as major news by everybody, but for some Wikipedia editors. Some with good reasons, others with none at all. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:23, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- Aye, leading me to Meh. At least it got a chance. You worry about Fulton County et al, I'll fret about the future of the Intercontinental Championship, and we'll chat again when something newer comes up (probably an earthquake). InedibleHulk (talk) 03:37, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- Looking forward to the next round. Maybe we'll set him adrift on an ice floe. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:42, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Ugh
That IP (and some other users) are still at it at Justin J. Pearson and Justin Jones (Tennessee politician). Any suggestions? Don't want to edit war so I'm not going to revert again, but I really feel like there isn't consensus for their edits. I don't usually get involved in this sort of situation while editing, because usually users whom I disagree with are at least communicative. Elli (talk | contribs) 18:53, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- Elli, I have to step away for a bit so I can't engage again right now. Communication on talk pages, making changes to the edits to make them more neutral, maybe it rises to the level of needing semi-protection to enforce IP discussion (I am too WP:INVOLVED to do so myself). – Muboshgu (talk) 18:55, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah I wouldn't think you could protect it of course. Just not sure what the best approach is to take with IPs willing to war over this sort of thing. Elli (talk | contribs) 18:57, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

Hobie Landrith
Quick question... do you know why the article says he died on March 30? The original source says he died "last Thursday" and the NYT obituary just says he died "Thursday". Is there any reason I'm missing to think this doesn't refer to April 6? Nohomersryan (talk) 19:09, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
- Nohomersryan, isn't that what "last Thursday" means? If Horwitz had meant April 6, he would have said "Thursday". I'm out of free NYT views and I'm not giving them any money. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:13, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
- I doubt it, especially given the NYT's wording (
When Landrith died on Thursday at 93 in Sunnyvale, Calif., he was remembered as the original Met.
) Anyway, my bad; I should've just checked around first, because his MLB.com profile already says he died April 6. Nohomersryan (talk) 19:18, 9 April 2023 (UTC)- In that case, oops. Good correction. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:28, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

City, County and other local governments agendas are Reliable sources
You apparently think that city, county and other local governments agendas are not reliable sources, as you noted WP:RS here [5] Is that correct?
Here's a quote from the Primary Source section of WP:RS- "Primary sources are often difficult to use appropriately. Although they can be both reliable and useful in certain situations, they must be used with caution in order to avoid original research. Although specific facts may be taken from primary sources, secondary sources that present the same material are preferred"
The source of the official agenda I used from the Nashville Metro Council, which is having the meeting in the near future today is a "specific fact" as quoted above. In fact, your CNN reference got their information from this elected local government's agenda- the agenda I had cited as a source and which you removed. CNN is a reliable additional source, but so is this local government's agenda. I request that you restore my cited source. I like your placement of the text within the body as you stated.
Please, explain your perspective.
Thank you, -- Ooligan (talk) 21:21, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

"Serious question," really?
You know it wasn't. You know that if close to 100 Americans were killed in a mass shooting, it'd be posted to WP:ITN with little to no objections. I'm deeply dissapointed. El_C 01:30, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

WikiCup 2023 May newsletter
The second round of the 2023 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to have scored 60 points to advance into round 3. Our top five scorers in round 2 all included a featured article among their submissions and each scored over 500 points. They were:
- Iazyges (1040) with three FAs on Byzantine emperors, and lots of bonus points.
- Unlimitedlead (847), with three FAs on ancient history, one GA and nine reviews.
- Epicgenius (636), a WikiCup veteran, with one FA on the New Amsterdam Theatre, four GAs and eleven DYKs
- BennyOnTheLoose (553), a seasoned competitor, with one FA on snooker, six GAs and seven reviews.
- FrB.TG (525), with one FA, a Lady Gaga song and a mass of bonus points.
Other notable performances were put in by Sammi Brie, Thebiguglyalien, MyCatIsAChonk, PCN02WPS, and AirshipJungleman29.
So far contestants have achieved thirteen featured articles between them, one being a joint effort, and forty-nine good articles. The judges are pleased with the thorough reviews that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Hunter Biden
I’m not sure how the addition of a name in a cited source qualifies as contentious editing. Fox News or the New York Daily News or People all use the name and none are listed on Wikipedia’s list of deprecated sources. The mother of the child posed for pictures with her and allowed her name to be published as well. I think an argument could be made for removing the son’s name as well to be consistent. I object to the removal of cited material in this instance. But it’s on the talk page. Bookworm857158367 (talk) 03:09, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Bookworm857158367, have you read through the talk page archives yet? This issue has come up before. Hunter Biden is an active third rail in American politics. Best to take caution. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:10, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- I’m American and I am familiar. I do think there has been a fair amount of evident bias in the editing of this article by assorted editors. In this case, my main objection is consistency. Why list four children and not the fifth? The name itself is factual and not a point of contention. If the objection is listing a minor, then we probably shouldn’t list the boy either. Bookworm857158367 (talk) 03:18, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

I am also a reviewer and I was intending to approve it, but could not do so until the file was moved out of the way.Naraht (talk) 20:51, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- The submission was rejected just two days ago though. Why would you accept it after it had been rejected with one edit of improvement after? I will take a look at this subject after my work is done today, maybe I can find some more independent sourcing. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:56, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- Given WP:NPOL and the fact that she held state-wide office, I felt it only needed secondary sources that she was in fact elected. I'll look at it today as well as I can.Naraht (talk) 12:02, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- I see you removed the table on the election that she won, I thought that that was normal for articles on elected officials, should it be returned if referenced? (https://www.livevoterturnout.com/ENR/idaho/124/1/en/Index_124.html is the link from the Idaho Secretary of State Elections Division

- I don't think there's a rule for or against them speficically. I'm personally not a fan of those tables on biographies but wouldn't object if you added it back with sourcing. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:37, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thanx. I think I started supporting this somewhat out of spite against a European who seemed to object more about the fact that Idaho elects this position statewide than objected to the proposed article.Naraht (talk) 09:49, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Naraht, that's what I was afraid of. The draft that I saw was in no way ready to be on the main page, that's why it kept getting rejected. The last reviewer was wrong to say the subject was "not notable", but nobody gave the reviewer a reason to see that Critchfield is notable. Please read WP:POINT, an essay about not doing things "out of spite". – Muboshgu (talk) 04:25, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
- It was rejected due to a misreading of WP:NPOL. If it had been rejected for lack of references, I'm not sure I would have gotten involved. But, I do think it was to the point where issues made more sense to be fixed in mainspace. (But I can see where WP:POINT affected my reasoning.)Naraht (talk) 10:26, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Username personal attack
(Redacted) thanks for the block. The name itself seems like it could be a personal attack. Can it be renamed to something less offensive while remaining blocked? 10mmsocket (talk) 15:38, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
- I don't know that I can? The user name does appear to be a personal attack against a non-notable person. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:45, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

- I actually already did the revdel. Figured it would be a dick move to suggest it and not just get it done myself. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:51, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
- Amazing, thanks. Can you redact my self-deleted edit at WP:UAA too? 10mmsocket (talk) 15:56, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think that's necessary. It's unlikely that someone would look there, whereas it was possible a whole class was looking at the article. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:58, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Elizabeth Holmes
I wasn't sure where to make this particular post; but, seeing as you are a far more prolific editor than I (and an administrator to boot) I figure I'll make it here.
I thought it was a good idea to add the word criminal to the first sentence of Holmes' Wikipedia page. She is a notorious liar and lowlife. It's not a personality quirk to bilk investors out of about a billion dollars if a cursory Google search is accurate. It is a character trait. She is bad news. Can you tell me why my particular edit was, in your words, "unnecessary and unhelpful"? Thanks. SpicyMemes123 (talk) 20:50, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- SpicyMemes123, this was a good place to post since I can elaborate more here than in an edit summary. The opening sentence
Elizabeth Anne Holmes (born February 3, 1984) is an American former biotechnology entrepreneur who, in 2022, was convicted of fraud in connection to her blood-testing company, Theranos.
makes clear that she's been convicted of a crime. As for your personal opinion on Holmes, I don't disagree. But, we only know what her actions are, not her inner state or personal beliefs. We should be reporting the facts without using value-laden labels. I should have included MOS:LABEL in my edit summary. I know that it's not "contentious" in the sense that she has been convicted of a crime, so it is factual, but its not ideal to reduce a person to a label like that, especially since the second half of the opening sentence lays out her crime and the rest of the lead provides more detail on the crime. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:13, 31 May 2023 (UTC)- Thanks for responding. I guess it's a question of whether inner convictions are reflected in outward expressions. Your average business magnate doesn't "accidentally" commit a serious felony vis-a-vis fraud. But fair enough: I guess labeling her a criminal in the first sentence, as I tried to do, would have a bit of a flavor to it. SpicyMemes123 (talk) 21:18, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

About the Removal
Hello,
I feel as if my edit on the 2024 election has been erroneously removed. There is large evidence of right-wing genocide against transgender people, as included in my edit. Moreover, the GOP has been targeting trans people as of late, and the Democratic Party hasn't. While it may seem biased at first, deeper research reveals that the attack on trans rights is from right-wing peoples. Western Progressivist (talk) 20:15, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- Western Progressivist, reply at the talk page where you made the edit. This is not an appropriate discussion for a user talk page, where others are less likely to see it. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:19, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.

User:Knightoftheswords281
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, of course, but I'm becoming increasingly aggravated by KOTS's long, whinging rants on WP:ITN/C that end up being four or five paragraphs long. I know WP:RFCU has been done away with for fairly obvious reasons, but I wanted to have a public comment on his behavior on WT:ITN to determine how other people feel about it. Would this be a bad idea? Would I be better off just talking to him? Am I overreacting? Cheers, ⛵ WaltClipper -(talk) 13:10, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- WaltCip, I'm sure there are ways to discuss the user's behavior that don't cross the line to becoming a BOOMERANG. Bad behavior should be called out, we got TRM topic-banned from ITN/C. KOTS' behavior is an attempt to be constructive, but the tl;dr is a bit much. If you bring it up directly, make sure you're AGF. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:05, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Umbilicus-fixated new user
Please take a look at [6]. Virtually every edit this new user has made has involved fixation on young women entertainers' navels, adding detailed information that is not of encyclopedic merit and not well-written. I am not comfortable confronting the person, given that I am avowedly female and I am afraid abuse will be forthcoming. Am I reading too much into edits like, e.g., [7] and [8]? I deleted a lot of stuff from the "Cultural views..." article that I am already suspecting will bring about a hateful reaction. Thanks for looking into this. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 00:46, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Muboshgu,
I don't deal much with MOS, page titles and page moves (except when articles are moved to the wrong namespace), so I wanted to get your opinion on this recent article title change. I don't recall seeing other articles with the "Wrongful conviction" claim in the title although there is no doubt that the conviction this person received was incorrect. I was thinking that maybe the article should be moved to "David Camm Trial" as the article mainly deals with the murder incident and following trial but am looking for a second opinion. Ideally, this discussion should happen on the article talk page but except for a recent edit by the page mover, the talk page hasn't received much activity since 2016 so it doesn't get much traffic. Thanks for any insight you can offer. Liz Read! Talk! 02:01, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- There's an essay Wikipedia:"Murder of" articles that talks about this genre of articles. And Wikipedia:Naming conventions (violence and deaths) has a nice flow chart, but doesn't include wrongful convictions. There are a few articles that start with "Wrongful conviction of", no opinion on their notability. If the main gist of the case is that Camm was wrongfully convicted, then that seems like the best article title. "Trial" is vague, the article says he had three trials. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:22, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

The WikiCup
As a WikiCup judge, I was unsure when the 'in the news' item "Tony Bouza" appeared on the main page. If it did not appear until June 29th, it should be disallowed for round 3 and submitted instead for round 4. In any event, you have enough points to qualify for round 4. Talk pages receiving WP:NOTAFORUM violations
Hello. I was wondering if you could add edit notices for Talk:The View (talk show) and Talk:Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Both of these talk pages receive messages from IPs/new users trying to communicate with the article subjects. I don't think protection is a good idea because the edits are not frequent. Thanks in advance. Zoe Trent Fan🎤💍 16:41, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Zoe Trent Fan, I am always flabbergasted that people think celebrities read their Wikipedia talk pages and would actually respond to them when they do. What edit notice are you referring to? Those two talk pages both have {{not a forum}} already. I'm not sure that we have one that's more specific... – Muboshgu (talk) 16:46, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- I was thinking that you could create a notice following the format of this one: Template:Editnotices/Page/Talk:Better Business Bureau Zoe Trent Fan🎤💍 16:49, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oh sure, that can be done. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:29, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

I am recreating 900 West Randolph, which you deleted.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:41, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- Now it's an article. What I deleted was not on par with this. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:56, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Looking for a second opinion.
Hiya Mubo. The ‘recently active admins’ list says you’re up and about. Am I okay to run something by you?
I was hoping for a second opinion on This user’s response, to a concern of their username. Wanting to make it into a bot on Vietnamese Wiki? Then why have they bought it to English? It doesn’t check out with me. Thoughts?
Cheers. MM (Give me info.) (Victories) 19:32, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
- Matticusmadness, blocked for impersonating a bot. I don't know why the account would be made on the English Wikipedia if it's meant for the Vietnamese Wikipedia. There's a hard and fast rule against accounts titled "bot" that aren't bots. If they aren't misrepresenting themselves, they can explain that in their unblocking request. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:37, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
- That works. Sweet as maple syrup! Thanks Mubo. MM (Give me info.) (Victories) 19:41, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing it to my attention. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:50, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
