Today's featured list  Today's featured list is a section included on the Main Page on Mondays and on Fridays, in which an introduction to one of Wikipedia's featured lists is displayed. See this month's queue. The lists appearing on the Main Page are scheduled by the featured list director, currently Giants2008. To be eligible to appear on the Main Page, a list must already be featured. For more information on the featured list promotion process, please see the featured list candidates, as well as the featured list criteria. In addition, a blurb is drafted, introducing the subject of the list. Blurbs are roughly 1,000 characters in length, with no reference tags, alternate names or extraneous boldface type, although a link to the specified featured list should be emboldened; a relevant picture is also usually included with the blurb. The previous three lists that were featured on the Main Page appear along the bottom, in reverse chronological order. You can submit a list to be scheduled at the submissions page. At the moment, lists are scheduled by the featured list director or by the featured list delegates, although we will eventually be devising a community-based system for selecting each day's list. We encourage editors to submit and to review as many blurbs as possible. How to Train Your Dragon, a 2010 American animated action fantasy film loosely based on the 2003 book of the same name by Cressida Cowell, garnered accolades in a variety of categories, with particular recognition for John Powell's (pictured) musical score. At the 83rd Academy Awards, it received nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. The film garnered fourteen nominations at the 38th Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Outstanding Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production, and won ten awards. How to Train Your Dragon also received nominations for two British Academy Film Awards, the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Animated Feature, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. From the next featured list (Monday, March 24)
The second generation of the Pokémon franchise features 100 fictional species of creatures introduced to the core video game series in the Game Boy Color games Pokémon Gold and Silver. In these games and their sequels, the player assumes the role of a Trainer whose goal is to capture and use the creatures' special abilities to combat other Pokémon. The generation was unveiled at the beginning of the Nintendo Space World '97 event, with Gold and Silver first releasing in November 1999. Pokémon Gold and Silver take place in Johto, which is based on the Kansai region of Japan. Due to the games acting as a sequel to the first generation, the Pokémon designs of the second generation share a strong association with those from the first. Many designs of unused Pokémon for Gold and Silver have surfaced online in the years following its release. (Full list...)
