Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2021 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lucas Barbosa. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Special:WantedTemplates

[edit]

Hi! Would it be possible for you to add

// <nowiki>

to the top of the PROTECTION FROM STRING SUBSTITUTION section and

// </nowiki>

to the bottom of User:Lewolka/common.js? By putting these tags inside of javascript comments, it won't impact the functionality of your script, but it will keep the backend software from transcluding Template:)((?:NYT. You will know if the tags worked if Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:)((?:NYT no longer shows your javascript page. By fixing these, we can keep the number of entries in Special:WantedTemplates to a minimum. Thank you in advance for your help! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:18, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve 2021 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship

[edit]

Hello, Lewolka,

Thank you for creating 2021 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article is missing prose, which means it fails notability for sports championships. Championships event articles should consist mainly of well-sourced prose, not just statistics and lists of players, winners and medalists. Wikipedia is not a stats directory. See WP:NSEASONS for guidance. Failing this notability guide, this article may be redirected to the main sport page.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Whiteguru (talk) 07:42, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Whiteguru:, I was in the process of adding prose (it is listed as start class), it should be reaching notability standard now, thank you for taking the time to review it. All my best Lewolka (talk) 19:54, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your courtesy in notifying me of your good work. I appreciate your kind reply. Whiteguru (talk) 20:47, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject MMA infobox

[edit]
 – Sharing the discussion with fellow Kron Gracie editors.

Hi Lewolka. I have removed the nickname from the infobox of Kron Gracie, as the MMA Project infobox contains the nickname only as sourced to Sherdog. This is to prevent there being a whole load of meme-based nicknames and is the result of longstanding consensus. I have however not removed the section in the article about the nickname, but it doesn't qualify for the infobox. The parameters for the MMA infobox are set down by Wikiproject MMA. Thanks.NEDOCHAN (talk) 14:30, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @NEDOCHAN I wasn't aware of Sherdog being the only source accepted for adding a nickname to the infobox template that the Kron Gracie article is using, I'm also not sure what you mean by MMA and/or MMA Project infobox, as far as I know per WP:MMA/MOS MMA fighters use the Template:Infobox martial artist and I cannot find a mention of that requirement. If this is from a discussion with a consensus reached on the WikiProject Mixed martial arts TP, could you please send me a link to it?. Thanks. Lewolka (talk) 13:06, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the discussion to the article TP please reply there thank you. Lewolka (talk) 13:18, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Lewolka, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed' and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned prolific creators of articles where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 19:25, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Venla Luukkonen

[edit]

On 13 November 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Venla Luukkonen, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Venla Luukkonen is the first Finnish person to win the World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship at black belt level? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Venla Luukkonen. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Venla Luukkonen), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. ADCC Winners without article

[edit]

Hi. I noticed you create articles on Female BJJ practitioners.

There are two female ADCC winners that do not have articles yet. When you have time, could you look into creating articles for them?

They are:

1.Ana Laura Cordeiro (2015 winner in +60 KG)

2.Juliana Borges (2005 winner in 67 KG + Absolute)

3.Sayaka Shinoda (2007 winner in 55 KG)

Thanks -Imcdc (talk) 17:49, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Imcdc thanks, they're already on my list, also feel free to contribute to female BJJ articles, any help appreciated. Lewolka (talk) 14:39, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Imcdc, Ana Laura Cordeiro, Juliana Borges and Sayaka Shioda are all done; that last one was the most challenging as her name was misspelled in the ADCC article... btw since you also create martial art articles you might be interested in checking out this RfC. Using small in infobox

[edit]

You might know this better than I, but I removed the small tag in the infobox of Renzo Gracie because I assume it violates WP:SMALLFONT. Is this standard across all martial artists or has it been overlooked? Nswix (talk) 03:31, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nswix, you're right MOS discourages using smaller fonts in infoboxes, I suggest having that info as an explanatory footnote (efn) instead so as not to clutter the infobox, just make sure a Notes section with a Template:Notelist already exists or you'll need to create one. Royce

[edit]

Hi Lewolka. Please don't revert my edits. In the case of Gracie, he is an MMA fighter. He has no grappling competition cited in his article,no ADCC etc. If he had never competed in the UFC he wouldn't have an article. Thanks NEDOCHAN (talk) 08:24, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@NEDOCHAN Of course he doesn’t have any competition listings, he basically started it all! If we can’t agree on someone like him, a living legend then we definitely need an RfC. Lewolka (talk) 09:09, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Royce Gracie is known for his MMA achievements. Also, his article has been in line with other MMA fighter articles for a long time. I understand you would like to have colour boxes for fighters known for their BJJ success and that's ok but for MMA notable fighters we don't use colour boxes. Consensus forms over a long time and shows itself in articles, edit history etc., not only in RFCs. As you'll notice, MMA fighters don't have colour boxes in the infobox, indicating longstanding consensus. Also per WP:ONUS you would need to seek consensus to add; you don't need consensus not to add.NEDOCHAN (talk) 10:05, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
per our previous conversation which you approved:
My suggestion is to check Bjjheroes list to assess notability of BJJ practitioners and coaches (they don't profile MMA not even Khabib, McGregor, Nate Diaz..etc) Submission grappling is considered No-Gi so those athletes are also included (unless they come from non BJJ background such as luta livre, wrestling, Judo, Sambo..etc.) and of course all the members of the Gracie family. Lewolka (talk) 12:33, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@NEDOCHAN If Royce Gracie can be reversed for his lack of jiu-jitsu notability, it's definitely time to start that RfC , I hope this will help establish a proper consensus&guidelines that all can follow. Best Lewolka (talk) 19:01, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would recommend starting a discussion at WP:MMA as this would create a lot of work for us. I don't think you've adequately posed the question and will reply in due courseNEDOCHAN (talk) 19:08, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An article you'd worked on is in AFD right now if you have anything you'd like to add. Nswix (talk) 08:34, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nswix, only saw this now... why was this article deleted instead of updated? I'm not an expert on the subject but there is such a thing as sport jiu-jitsu with its championships and federation. Lewolka (talk) 16:08, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
AFD says it fails notability Nswix (talk) 16:13, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I see IMO when an article has multiple articles linked to it, it's always best to do some research and update but I'll follow the page in the future as you suggested Lewolka (talk) 16:52, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I recommend all martial arts contributors add this page to their watch list so you can monitor AFDs Nswix (talk) 16:18, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ok that's good to know thanks @Nswix. Lewolka (talk) 16:50, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

More BJJ athletes for your consideration

[edit]

I've noticed you have created a lot of new BJJ practitioner pages lately so thanks for your hard work. This is not really a request but rather a suggestion on what I think might be interesting pages to work on. Solely for your ref:

Alex Nguyen: 2022 World No Gi Champ
Elvira Karppinen: 2019 ADCC bronze
Maria Malyjasiak :2013 ADCC bronze

In addition I noticed that Seiko Yamamoto might be the same one that won a bronze medal at ADCC 2013. Might want to check that out if its the same person and expand the article accordingly.

As you can see, I have picked athletes that are not from the usual powerhouses like Brazil or USA. Give the chance for athletes from other places to shine.
Imcdc Contact 11:50, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

sounds good thanks for the update @Imcdc Lewolka (talk) 16:10, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Seiko Yamamoto is definitely the right person, have updated accordingly. Lewolka (talk) 20:34, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maria Malyjasiak is done if you want to link her up. Lewolka (talk) 13:28, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 06:42:14, 25 April 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Georgesben

[edit]

Thank you for reviewing the draft of the Anita Rosenberg article. Some questions regarding the reasons for rejection:

The comment: does not pass WP:FILMMAKER

current edit: "film maker" was changed to "film director"

Her IMDB credit: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0742171/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm

I think a number of reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject have been cited in the references and links section.

Please comment on

-- can the subject be considered a film director?

-- is the subject notable?

-- are the sources reliable and independent of the subject? a number of newspaper articles are cited as well as IMDb.

-- can specific changes be made to ameliorate the tone or choice of words?

Thank you Georgesben (talk) 06:42, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review. I am going to see if I can find more of a stage background on them. Most of their significant independent coverage was found in older newspapers, so I thought that would pass WP:GNG. They do have some significant acting roles, would it be better if I separated their voice work from on screen work? Filmforme (talk) 13:43, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WiG Editathon Barnstar

[edit]
Women in Green Editathon June '23
Thank you for your contributions to GA nomination Penny Thomas at the latest WiG Wildcard Edition editathon! The article may not have passed this time, but every improvement brings it closer to GA status. Keep up the good work. Best, Alanna the Brave (talk) 22:54, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Alanna the Brave Unfortunately I was never given the chance to make improvements to the article and bring it up to standard during the Editathon, but thank you anyway. Lewolka (talk) 08:24, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like you're well on your way with the article (it's the prerogative of the reviewer, which can be frustrating, but sometimes the requested edits have to happen outside of the formal review space). If it helps, you're always welcome to use WikiProject Women in Green as a resource in future -- just post to the talk page with any questions or requests for article feedback. Alanna the Brave (talk) 12:22, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Alanna the Brave, I understand and I respect the reviewer’s decision. I am aware of the Good article criteria, I just don't think that quickfailing an article without giving the nominator a chance to address the issues raised (unless of course it concerns major violations) is very constructive... but that's a conversation for another TP :). Lewolka (talk) 15:17, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's fair -- to be honest, I think quickfailing is often partly used as a tool to help GA reviewers manage backlog. There are always many more GA nominations than there are available GA reviewers, and quickfailing tends to be used when the reviewer feels that the needed edits probably can't be completed within a timely period. I agree it doesn't feel constructive though -- definitely part of a larger conversation to be had about the GA process! Alanna the Brave (talk) 20:53, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
