ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Add a Fact survey and thank you
[edit]Thank you for testing out the Add A Fact browser extension! This extension was developed as an experiment by the Future Audiences team at the Wikimedia Foundation to learn about new ways of contributing to Wikipedia from outside of our website/apps.
We are planning to wrap up this experiment this December, sunsetting the extension and publishing our findings on-wiki. We’d like to invite you to take part in an exit survey to tell us more about your experience of trying out the extension, and to share any ideas you have about how to support new ways of contributing to Wikipedia. The survey is anonymous (see the survey privacy statement) and should take about 10–15 minutes to complete.
You can take the Goole Forms survey here.
Kind regards, MPinchuk (WMF)

Pannenkoek2012
[edit]About 2 minutes ago, you reverted one of my changes onto Pannenkoek2012 and i believe that the reversion wasn't necessary. I just wanted to show the truth because that entire theory was completely debunked. I don't think that I didn't explain why, because I stated that in the first sentence of my reasoning. (TL;DR: the cosmic ray theory is a debunked myth and it shouldnt be on the page) 2600:1700:CC10:2790:FC3C:527D:96C9:DF7 (talk) 22:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
Milwaukee Catholic Conference
[edit]Hey, thanks for taking the time to review my article! I was wondering if you could shed some light on something for me. I noticed a pretty big discrepancy between the grade for the Wisconsin and Sports WikiProject. What makes an article a B-grade for one project and a stub-grade for another? Moserjames79 (talk) 22:45, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- Genuinely no idea what happened there, lol. It's obviously not a stub -- let me change that.— Moriwen (talk) 22:47, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thought that was weird, thanks! Moserjames79 (talk) 22:56, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Spanish mission
[edit]Hello,
I was looking at the article Fronteras and saw that this quote "visitors can explore the Mission San Ignacio de Cuquiarachi founded in 1645 by the Jesuit missionary Marcos del Río" has no source.
I am trying to map the Spanish missions in the Americas and my map is very close to being completed. I see that you have made/edited a lot of articles relating to the topic, including this one, so I wondered if you would be able to give me any insight on if this statement is true and the location of the mission.
My source says the church is non-extant, but there is an unfinished page from the NPS showing a picture of the church, as well as this quote from the article, so I am conflicted.
Anyway, if you have any information on this, please let me know. Thank you! GoldenArmorYeah (talk) 01:38, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- For sure! I hope you post your map somewhere when it's finished; I'd be excited to see it.
- I've gotten a lot of use out of Paul M. Roca's Paths of the Padres through Sonora, and it looks like he actually visited the church and took a picture, so it was extant at least as of 1959. His map shows the mission located about five miles west of Fronteras. I can't post the image, obviously, since it's not old enough to be out of copyright, but if it would be helpful and there's a good way to contact you I'm happy to send you a copy privately for your reference.
- Here's what Roca has to say about the mission:
- Nuestro Padre San Ignacio de Cuquiárachi
- Cuquiárachi is not on Río Fronteras, but is about three-quarters of an hour due west of Fronteras on the mesa to the north of the Río Cuquiárachi, an east-flowing stream which joins Río Fronteras a little south of the old presidio. You can also get there from Bacoachi, but you should allow half a day, or more if you get lost. The road is hard to find and harder to follow, and getting lost is easy. The Cuquiárachi valley is cultivated for many miles on either side of the settlement, which means that there are people to ask. Without the people we never would have found the town, since it sits up on the mesa to the north of the road in such a way as to be quite invisible from below. Once you find it, there is a passable but steep road leading up to the plaza, which contains the ancient adobe church, still in use, and a handful of adobe buildings.

- I'm not too sure where I would post my map, but I could probably export it as a KMZ file or something. I'll probably finish it sometime after the summer because there are some sites I'd like to ask some people about and some places I need to visit to find that I don't have enough time for yet.
- I've heard about Paths of the Padres through Sonora but I unfortunately do not have a copy. It does sort of worry me that some of the churches my source says are non-extant are or were still around. Anyway, thank you for the description! GoldenArmorYeah (talk) 03:06, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Also, I think I have found the church, but it differs from the picture in https://www.nps.gov/tuma/learn/historyculture/nuestro-padred-san-ignacio-de-cuquiarachi.htm in a bell tower being added. Do you think you could send me the image? There's not many images of the church out there and I was thinking it might have been a new addition or maybe a picture from another entrance. AFDs
[edit]Hello, Moriwen,
If you want to continue to nominate articles for AFD discussions, you really need to provide more substantial deletion rationales. Your nominations often only consist of 3 or 4 words which is inadequate. You should provide a history of the article, if it has been deleted before, any policy-based reasons for deletion (using more than abbreviations) and a review of sources that demonstrates that a thorough WP:BEFORE has been done which is your responsibility as the nominator. Without a decent deletion nomination, these AFDs can be closed as procedural Keeps. Please offer the participants more to consider in any future nominations you post. Thank you for your contributions to the project. Liz Read! Talk! 05:16, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- If you want to know what to aim for, check out Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Malcolm (Canadian farmer). Dclemens1971 always provides a very thorough deletion nomination that gives participants some points to investigate. Liz Read! Talk! 05:20, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
Revision Regarding Office of Gun Violence Prevention
[edit]An anonymous user had created an edit stating that the official White House website for this was deactivated on January 21, 2025.
This was a true statement. The website gives a 404 error that it cannot be accessed. I'd be happy to send you a screenshot if you haven't seen it for yourself.
Why was this revision removed? MakeitBlunt (talk) 06:47, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
