Ways to improve Blood Bowl Sutra

[edit]

Hi, I'm Mduvekot. Invokingvajras, thanks for creating Blood Bowl Sutra!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please use footnotes to indicate which sources are used to support a statement. For example: what follows "It is said that at one time " should be attributed to a reliable source.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Information icon Hello, I'm DanielRigal. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Nazism, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please read the FAQ on Talk:Nazism to understand why your edit was incorrect and inappropriate. We get a lot of people who have been confused into thinking that Nazism is a type of Socialism. It isn't and the people who are telling you otherwise are either completely ignorant about the subject or (more likely) deliberately trying to mislead you. This has been discussed many, many, many times before over on Talk:Nazism. DanielRigal (talk) 19:00, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Varuna, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Deva and Soma (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

List of Garudas moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, List of Garudas, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your article 白雲寺

[edit]

Information icon Welcome, and thank you for contributing the page 白雲寺 to Wikipedia. While you have added the page to the English version of Wikipedia, the article is not in English. We invite you to translate it into English. It has been listed at Pages Needing Translation, but if it is not translated within two weeks, the article will be listed for deletion. Thank you. Padavalam Kuttan Pilla  Talk  04:19, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The addition of the page to English Wikipedia was intentional. I took inspiration from the page 南禪寺, as well as others under Category:Disambiguation pages with Chinese character titles to begin creating disambiguation pages for Buddhist temples in East Asia that bear the same name. Since the pronunciation; and in some cases, variants of Chinese character; of these names differ among regions, it would seem to make more sense using the Chinese characters than to romanize one language among many possible variants.
The English title "Baiyun Temple" refers specifically to the Chinese variant of this name, suggesting those temples which only belong to Chinese speaking populations, which is not as encompassing as their East Asian language pages due to untranslatable writing conventions. If English disambiguation pages are titled using CJKV characters, users can access pages with temples of the same name across countries. This is how the disambiguation pages function in their Mandarin and Japanese counterparts (and Korean and Vietnamese in some cases), which would also make it much easier to link English Wikipedia pages to their international variants. - Invokingvajras 04:30, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Traditional Korean philosophy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Japanese name for Vasudhara

[edit]

I see that you added a Japanese rendering of Vasudhara back in March.

Curious where you got the Jisei bosatsu reading for the 持世菩薩 spelling. The only relevant entry I can find in my Japanese dictionaries is this entry at Weblio about 持世経, but indicating a reading of Jise without the additional i. Googling about, I find that the じせ rendering appears to be much more common in the Buddhist context. Compare "持世菩薩" "じせいぼさつ" "は" -amazon -rakuten -wiki and "持世菩薩" "じせぼさつ" "は" -amazon -rakuten -wiki. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 22:02, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia (even another language wiki) can't be used as a source for Wikipedia. WP:CIRCULAR And https://febrick.tistory.com/101 doesn't look like a reliable source. Were you using the Korean Wikipedia as the source for the other Buddhist tags you've added to the English Wikipedia? NPalgan2 (talk) 21:42, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was primarily mirroring the information from the Korean articles, in regards to contemporary personalities. List of Korean Buddhists provides a few names as well, but the source link seems to be broken. I'll be sifting through these articles in the relevant language and requesting that sources be provided. Time will tell what errors can be clarified. --Invokingvajras(talk) 22:05, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Thank you for your work on Wikipedia. However, please do not remove a category from lots of pages and then post an empty category tag on the now empty category so that it is marked for deletion. This is called "emptying categories out of process" and will be reversed.

I came here to say the same thing.
As you had got so far with moving Category:Horses in culture and religion to Category:Horses in culture, I finished it off by moving the page, overwriting your new page. But please don't do it like that again. Your work on its own would have lost the history of the category, the talk page, and the interwiki links to other-language Wikipedias.
Also, even if you have a good idea for renaming a category, quite often in discussion an even better idea comes out. Moreover, all we have to do is discuss it; a bot then gets commanded to do the hard work of moving the category page and all its members. – Fayenatic London 20:03, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Wat Wimuttayaram moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Wat Wimuttayaram, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. Changes to non-existant categories

[edit]

Please cleanup some of the cases where you have changed to non-existant categories. Looking at your contributions, this includes Category:Religious buildings and structures completed in the 1100s, +Category:Religious buildings and structures completed in 935, and a few X-th century Taoist temples.Naraht (talk) 14:20, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Still one missing one at Chiriku_Hachiman_Shrine. Thanx for fixing the others and all of the work you have done.Naraht (talk) 13:09, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just to add to this - the rules on red links to categories are different to red links to articles. In short - WP:REDNOT says that you should either create the category, or not add a category if it's a red link. If you did so with eg Category:Islamic organizations established in 1912 you would have tried to create Category:1912 in Islam and found that it had already been deleted by consensus at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2017_May_7#Years_in_Islam. Now you've just created a whole lot of unnecessary work for both yourself and whoever has to waste time cleaning up your mess.
Also if you find that when you create something like Category:Religious buildings and structures completed in 994 and it comes up with a ton of red linked categories - it's probably a good hint that you're going against the consensus for creating a category in a particular form. For instance, in general we don't create specific year categories for things like buildings before 1000AD - and even up to 1500AD we only do so for the most general kinds of buildings, or categorise by decade rather than year. Beware WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION - a good category has 30-200 members, not just one or two.Le Deluge (talk) 17:59, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Seabrook Buddhist Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no reason to think this particular temple to be notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. You can see the steps for this at WP:CREATECAT. If you do not intend to create the category, please avoid adding redlinked categories to articles. Notice

The article Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable, vanity/spam article

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised to see an editor with 25,158 edits and nothing in their block log make an edit like this: directly changing quotes to insert falsehoods. What's your rationale here? AusLondonder (talk) 16:07, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, I apologize if this was a direct quote I changed, as I have zero intention to change anyone's original words or misrepresent a topic. To clarify: The Nazi symbol in question is called a "hakenkreuz." A "swastika" is a symbol used by religious traditions that have origins in South Asia. To call the Socialist symbol a swastika is an outdated misrepresentation that only further marginalizes and dehumanizes religious and ethnic groups that predate, and have no affinity for, the Nazi Party. - Invokingvajras (talk) 17:43, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
