Review on Draft:Legion Platforms

I submitted a draft for a company by the name of Legion Platforms, which was declined twice. Is the only reason for the decline because of sources that are unreliable? Or are there other reasons? Prestigiousss (talk) 02:07, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

@Prestigiousss: that's a pretty major shortcoming. User-generated sources are not considered reliable, therefore they cannot verify the information in the Draft:Legion Platforms draft, therefore there is also no evidence of notability. Verifiability and notability are the two cornerstones of any article, and without them, there's nothing there to build upon. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:17, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
I guess you're right. Do you want sources in this article to be from official sources is what you're saying? Prestigiousss (talk) 20:33, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Hello,

I wanted to ask you if I can somehow link to the Italian version on wiki.riteme.site, considering that it is an international festival but takes place in Italy, and if it counts as qualifying in terms of publication. Then I wanted to ask you if I am forced to use international journalistic references or if I can also mention Italian national newspapers. Thank you very much. Feedback-PA (talk) 09:57, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Feedback-PA: you can use Italian and other non-English sources, as long as they otherwise meet our requirements in terms of reliability etc.
This draft needs to be published in the main encyclopaedia, before it can be linked to the other language versions, such as the one on the Italian Wikipedia.
You cannot use the Italian Wikipedia article as a source for this one (if that's what you were asking), but if it has sources that would be useful here, you can cite them directly in this draft.
Hope this helps, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:08, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
Thank you @DoubleGrazing. I made the additions by inserting a few national and international newspapers. Where I found the source in English, I preferred that. Also in some citations, considering that the articles are often long, I inserted a translated snippet. I have sent for revision. Feedback-PA (talk) 10:00, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Could you Please Review this Draft

Greetings, DoubleGrazing I would like to request you to Please Review this Draft:Ankit Baiyanpuria. Thank You Regards AstuteFlicker (talk) 18:47, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Sorry @AstuteFlicker, I don't do on-demand reviews (unless, maybe, the subject interests me particularly, which this one doesn't). Was there a reason why you asked me especially? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:53, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
There wasn’t any particular specific reason it’s just that in the past you have reviewed many of my drafts so I thought perhaps you could review this too although they weren’t accepted as I was new at point that time and didn’t had much knowledge at that point of time even now also I am not very much knowledgeable but I am continuously trying to learn. Anyways, I understand what you want to say. Thank You Regards AstuteFlicker (talk) 19:02, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
Okay, no worries, @AstuteFlicker. Good luck with the draft, and happy editing! :) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 19:21, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from Celia Hurwitz (22:41, 31 October 2024)

Hi there, I just posted a topic on my talk page about getting assistance with my page before I submit it. I wanted to share my sandbox but I'm not sure how? Can you help? Celia --Celia Hurwitz (talk) 22:41, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Celia Hurwitz, what do you mean by "share my sandbox"? Did you mean you're finished editing the content of User:Celia Hurwitz/sandbox and would like to submit it for pre-publication review? If so, then you just click on that blue 'submit' button. Or if your question was about something else, please could you clarify a bit? Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:46, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

Did you contest my CSD nomination for this draft or was it an edit conflict of some kind? I was just checking my CSD log and landed on this draft. Regards. Hitro talk 18:21, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Congratulations @DoubleGrazing - genuinely thrilled to see you as an Admin. You've been great at AfC and I've modelled a lot of my own AfC behaviour - as a fairly new reviewer - on you, @Timtrent, and @Theroadislong. You (all of you!) are great role models. Qcne (talk) 08:50, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Your new position came as a very pleasant surprise, I must pay more attention in future, congratulations... you will do a GREAT job with the bucket. Theroadislong (talk) 08:57, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the congratulations and kind words, everyone, jointly and severally. I have woken up this morning to positive, if somewhat surprising, election results. (Curious to see what news tomorrow morning brings...) Bear with me as I try to adjust to the new order of things, and don't hesitate to tell me when (not if) I get things wrong; the learning curve starts here! :) Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:11, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Congrats! Excited to have the CSD workload suddenly cut by about 1/5. Please be easy on the G11s for the sake of the foolish and wayward. But also, you have NO idea how much of a workout your "promotional username, promotional edits" blockhammer arm is about to get. Do drop by unblock appeals every so often to help clean up the mess you make by cleaning up the mess. -- asilvering (talk) 16:12, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
There's a userscript for that! I think it's User:Mr. Stradivarius/gadgets/SpamUserPage.js. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:15, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish That's the U5-to-block one, but DG is going to be doing G11-to-block a lot, if my experience with actioning their G11s is anything to go by. -- asilvering (talk) 16:18, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
I use it for G11 to block. It has a whole selection setup for what you need, but it defaults to G11. I don't see another script I have installed that would cover that, so I'm pretty sure that's the one. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:21, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
But only works in userspace, right? DG finds us all the spam drafts while doing AfC reviews. -- asilvering (talk) 16:28, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Ah, gotcha. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:30, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Make a mess? Who, me?? < eye roll >
Seriously though, no matter the outcome of this election, I was already resolved to throttle my G11 inclinations somewhat. The discussion on my nom page served its purpose. I'll let others request them instead, so I can decline them while tut-tutting disapprovingly. (Some people are just so CSD-trigger-happy...) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:21, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Bishes78 (10:26, 6 November 2024)

How to create my own page --Bishes78 (talk) 10:26, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Bishes78: depends on what you mean by "[your] own page"?
  • If you mean your 'user page' (your Wikipedia home page, if you like), User:Bishes78, I can see you've just done this. You may want to read the guidance at WP:UP which tells you what you can and can't put on that page.
  • If you mean you want to publish a Wikipedia article about yourself, then please don't; the reasons why we very strongly discourage this are explained at WP:AUTOBIO.
  • And finally, if you mean that you want to create a new article, then go to WP:YFA which tells you pretty much everything you need to get started.

Morning @Timtrent,
It's certainly an interesting one, and with quite some wikihistory, too. I have no knowledge of, or interest in, this topic, so can't comment on how important etc. the subject is, and/or whether Wikipedia should have an article on it. But I don't think we should not have articles on controversial, fringe, downright bogus, or other unorthodox subjects; after all, we have plenty, like Erich von Däniken, and these can serve a valid encyclopaedic purpose.
FWIW, I think you were right to accept the draft; AfC obviously shouldn't be the censor or arbiter of what is an 'acceptable' subject, other than in the most obvious cases (hoaxes, spam, etc.). This one is far from obvious, and the sources look on the surface at least pretty convincing, so it was right IMO to release it into the wild for the community to decide its fate.
At least, that's what I would say, if this were the first attempt at this subject. I suppose one could conversely argue that given the earlier attempts, leading to the title being salted, even, it has had its chances in the wild, and shouldn't be recreated, and re-litigated at AfD, ad infinitum. But in a way, since the author did recreate it, they kind of forced AfC's hand.
Having accepted it, if you then took enough interest in it to try to improve the article, and ultimately concluded that it didn't quite have the substance and/or merit that you previously thought, and moved an AfD on it, I can't see how that would be anything other than a sensible thing to do, and much more reasonable than leaving it for a single NPP reviewer to assess. Let's see how that discussion goes; early doors, it seems to be heading for another delete. If that's how it closes, the salt should probably be reapplied, possibly to the draft space also?
Interesting to note that the first two AfDs were pretty straightforwardly consensual, whereas the 3rd generated a lot of discussion, and !votes either way (albeit maybe some from possible SPAs/socks).
I'm not sure if any of this helps at all, but these are my two pennies' worth (and yes, I'm aware I'm rounding up). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:36, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
That reassures me. Thank you. Whether you offer a !vote is entirely your concern, keep or delete. I am content with none or either, ideally not both!
I think there is block evasion as suggested currently in the discussion. There is also a great swathe of blether in it that I think someone else in the discussion should collapse as not part of a deletion discussion. I will offer a simple comment on that.
How are you finding the admin sandals? Do you need any blister plasters? New shoes always rub my heels! 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:23, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Done (left the comment). Mostly this is a fire and forget AfD from my perspective. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:32, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Heh, "fire and forget". :) Yeah, I'm gonnu give this one a miss, methinks. And not only because the whole subject domain is as alien to me as, well, space aliens.
Not sure about the sandals yet, ask me again in a month's time. I do sense a subtle change in the vibe, though; it's like a familiar place, but the furniture has been moved around. Let's see, maybe it just takes an old dog time to learn new tricks. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:51, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Giving it a miss is wholly reasonable.
I think the sandals probably cause a hesitancy to do what you are already good at until they fit well. However the thought processes you have always used are no different. You will be excellent. As with any new area, deal with the easy issues first and you will soon find that the others become simple. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:58, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

Subject: Request for Review and Clarification Regarding Draft Article

Dear Wikipedia Editors,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to respectfully request a reconsideration of my draft article titled [[Draft:Fulgazi Women's College]]. I understand that the draft has been declined multiple times, but I would like to clarify a few points regarding its content and purpose.

First, I would like to emphasize that the article I have created is not intended to serve as an advertisement. The subject of the article is a government organization, and as such, it is not in need of any promotional content. The article aims to provide a neutral, informative overview, in line with Wikipedia’s standards. I have ensured that the tone is unbiased, factual, and aligned with the guidelines set out for encyclopedic content.

Furthermore, I have noticed that some articles with fewer original references have been published on the platform. In comparison, my draft includes five or six reliable, verifiable sources that support the information presented. I believe this makes the article meet Wikipedia's standards for notability and verifiability. Given this, I would appreciate it if you could review the draft once more, as I feel it adheres to the platform’s criteria.

If there are specific areas that need further attention or modification, I am more than willing to make adjustments. I highly value the opportunity to contribute to Wikipedia and would be grateful for any guidance you could provide to help my article meet the necessary standards for publication.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your feedback and hope for a positive resolution.

Warm regards,

Block review

Hey there, would you be so kind as to review the block of User:Xsolla Rep SR please? Their username follows policy. They have disclosed their COI and engaged in the process. It seems rather heavy handed. Thanks, -OXYLYPSE (talk) 10:01, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi @OXYLYPSE,
I think that's a good block. I'm not saying I would have necessarily blocked myself, but I can see why it was done. The 'Xsolla' part is clearly the name of the company this user represents, and it's not clear what the 'Rep SR' part means, ie. whether it refers to an individual person, a specific role, or something else.
Given that they were blocked solely on the basis of their user name, all they need to do is appeal the block with a proposed new name, say, 'Jim at Xsolla'. (They can even just go ahead and register a new account and abandon this one, although personally I'm not a fan of that approach.)
The block was only imposed 10 hrs ago, and this user seems to edit in the afternoon/evening UTC, so it could be they just haven't read the block notice yet. Let's give them time to respond?
Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:15, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look. It seemed pretty clear to me "Xsolla Representative Sara R", but I guess I'll leave them to it. Thanks, -OXYLYPSE (talk) 10:17, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Heroes2024: let me turn this around, and ask you: where did the information in your draft come from? That's what you should cite as your sources.
Wikipedia articles should primarily be composed by summarising what reliable published sources have previously said about a subject, and then citing each of those sources against the information it has provided. It sounds like you may be writing WP:BACKWARD?
