NPP School
Hi Cassiopeia, I'm looking to expand my horizons on Wikipedia and saw the NPP backlog is huge, I've recently been accepted to AFC on a probationary basis and would like to get involved in NPP. That being said, it does seem more complex and was wondering if you think the school would be a good idea for me. If so, I'd love it if you could be my trainer. Many thanks, Lewcm Talk to me! 23:19, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
- Lewcm Good day and sorry for the late reply as on my one-month vacation at the moment. Thank you for interested in NPPS. The guidelines for an article to be accepted to to Wikipedia mains pace for NPP and AFC are the same. AFC is for new editors who embark/attempt to write an article in draft space and once it is submitted, one of the AFC reviewers will check and "respond" to the creator of what is needed or which guiltiness should be uphold if the draft is not accepted. It is same for NPP, but it is for the non new editors which we would hope they do understand the notability guiltiness to write an article. Article created in NPP needs to go through NPP reveiwer, and if it is accepted then the article will be published in Wikipedia mains pace, if not then it will go through some process of recommendation of deletion or adding more appropriate sources for avoid so. It is same for a draft article (AFC) but an article accepted by AFC reviewer, will be place at NPP space and an NPP reviewer will review the article prior it public to Wikipedia main space if it is accepted by NPP review, so it is a 2-step process. More me (as I am the creator of NPPS program and both NPP and AFC reviewer), what is "MOST" important is that the reviewers in regardless NPP or AFC need to know the notability guidelines well to review an article and that same go to the creators so the articles is truly meet the notability requirements of Wikipedia for no matter how long the articles have been published in Wikipedia main space and if it does not meet the notability guidelines, the article eventually will be deleted for good.
- Please note that NPPS is a comprehensive program and it would take a lot of your time for reading the material (Wikipedia guidelines) and working on the assignment (10 in total and 1 final exam). The topic of the program includes notability, sources, deletions, neutral point of views, copyrights, categories, and etc guidelines. Most of the students would take 3 months to complete the program but there is no timeline to complete as each participant work on the program on their own pace. I notice that you have been quite active on the month of Dec 2023 on editing; however, since you have less than 1.5K edit so for, I would suggest you to complete WP:TWA program (only take 30-90mins) so you could familiar with some basic Wikipedia guidelines before you start the NPPS program for it will be much easier for you to have some guidelines info prior starting the NPPS course. Let me know when you have complete the TWA program and and I will set up the program for you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 16:24, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from ImamKhomeini911 on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Razahazara911 (21:33, 30 December 2023)
Hi there I recently corrected historyofiran on mazari sharif’s demography section. Question from Lumenpost (19:21, 29 December 2023)
A movie I watched online doesnt have a wikipedia page am I allowed to make one with the information I found on it in articles and imdb? --Lumenpost (talk) 19:21, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- Lumenpost Good day and thank you for the question. First of all, info added or change (or create an article in English Wikipedia) do need independent, reliable sources such as from the newspapers or books to support the info for verification. IMDB is not reliable source so it can NOT be used to change or add information in Wikipedia. Let me know if you have any other questions as I am here to help. Stay safe and best. Question from CarDriver897 (16:40, 9 January 2024)
Hello Cassio, I have some questions about editing articles. There was this user by the username of Revirvlkodlaku who said my edits are disruptive and sloppy, yet faithful. Then, in my mind, I was like "Bro! What do you think makes my edits disruptive, and sloppy, yet faithful?!" So, I'm not sure how to do edits now, because the Wikipedia said that I will be blocked from editing articles, according to Revirvlkodlaku. What should I do? --CarDriver897 (talk) 16:40, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- CarDriver897 Good day and thank you for the question. First of all, you need to provide not only the article names but also the edit you made so I would know the issues at hand. I am not sure which Simon Stålenhag edits you made for User:Revirvlkodlaku to send a warning message on your talk page. From I could find was that you keep on repeating adding the unsourced content which you have However, the Chrysler PT Cruiser edit you made - see "HERE" which was considered a vandalism edit. User Revirvlkodlaku was very kind to you in the message they sent you and informed you you have to learn some Wikipedia guidelines and editing norms and also not biting you but instead let you know what to do to avoid the mistakes. My advice is to take WP:TWA short program to familiar with some of the Wikipedia guidelines and do remember all info added or changed need to be supported by independent, reliable sources such as from the newspapers or books for verification which is the core policy of Wikipedia. If you have any questions on editing, you can always pop back here or you post your question on WP:TH an expericed editors or one of the Tea House hosts will help you. Pls do repeat the same mistakes again so you can avoid warning messages. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 22:39, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

- Yotrages Good day. I have done more than 50K of counter-vandalism edits but via Twinkle on laptop and not on mobile. Since I have enable Twinkle as a user in Wikipedia and I have checked if I have Twinkle option to do vandalism work and I cant find any filed/button/dropdown list to do so. That to say, it might have the option, but I cant do via my mobile. You can still do vandalism work on mobile without Twinkle and all you have to do is to manually place the warning messages/tags, on the vandalized editor user talk page, as you can find it here. - New request for comments: Community request for the development team to access inverse properties on client wikis. (Summary: We currently cannot access inverse property values on Wikipedia. This can be a data management issue on Wikipedia as we must always ask ourself if we must introduce an inverse property for cases where we need them. So I think it’s useful to gather the usecases community would want and draft a request for an API to the devteam to do that.)

Tech News: 2024-03
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Pages that use the JSON contentmodel will now use tabs instead of spaces for auto-indentation. This will significantly reduce the page size. [4]
- Gadgets and personal user scripts may now use JavaScript syntax introduced in ES6 (also known as "ES2015") and ES7 ("ES2016"). MediaWiki validates the source code to protect other site functionality from syntax errors, and to ensure scripts are valid in all supported browsers. Previously, Gadgets could use the
requiresES6
option. This option is no longer needed and will be removed in the future. [5] - Bot passwords and owner-only OAuth consumers can now be restricted to allow editing only specific pages. [6]
- You can now thank edits made by bots. [7]
- An update on the status of the Community Wishlist Survey for 2024 has been published. Please read and give your feedback.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 January. It will be on all wikis from 18 January (calendar). [8][9]
- Starting on January 17, it will not be possible to login to Wikimedia wikis from some specific old versions of the Chrome browser (versions 51–66, released between 2016 and 2018). Additionally, users of iOS 12, or Safari on Mac OS 10.14, may need to login to each wiki separately. [10]
- The
jquery.cookie
module was deprecated and replaced with themediawiki.cookie
module last year. A script has now been run to replace any remaining uses, and this week the temporary alias will be removed. [11]
Future changes
- Wikimedia Deutschland is working to make reusing references easier. They are looking for people who are interested in participating in individual video calls for user research in January and February.

Question from Canabeers (10:20, 20 January 2024)
I just wanted to add a movie to Vanessa Redgrave's film credits. It was a 2000 movie called "A Rumor Of Angels" and one of my favorite movies. That's really all I wanted to do. I couldn't believe it wasn't on here already. Great film! --Canabeers (talk) 10:20, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Canabeers Good day. There is a article of a movie named A Rumor of Angels in Wikipedia and I am not sure if this is the movie you mentioned above. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 16:23, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

NPP School
Hi! I saw you are one of the trainers for the Wikipedia:New pages patrol/School. I've recently gotten back to actively editing Wikipedia (I was working on it.wikt and it.wiki many years ago) and I would like to help with new pages patrol. On the other hand, I sometime feel slightly overwhelmed by the amount of guidelines and would really appreciate someone to guide me through. Would you have time available for a new student? :) Broc (talk) 12:02, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Broc Good day. Pls note that the program is very comprehensive and there are a lot of guidelines to be read which means you need to spend some personal time to read the guidelines and working on the assignment, but all info/guidlines will be presented in step by step/assignment by assignment format. Most participants will complete the program in about 3 months and there is not time limit to complete the program. With the info above and if you still to join, then pls let me know so I can set up the program for you. Just a note, I am in holiday at the moment, so I would be able to reply/review assignment for at least one week until I am back home. Stay safe and bes. Cassiopeia talk 17:04, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Cassiopeia Thanks for the reply and the disclaimer, I'm ready to start whenever you have time :) Enjoy your holiday! Broc (talk) 08:42, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Broc I have set up the program for you. Pls read the "communication section" at the bottom of the assingment prior you read and answer the assignment's questions. When you have done with the assignment, pls let me know on the communication section. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 14:26, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Ahsan171118 (07:58, 21 January 2024)
Hello Cassiopeia. Thank you for your time in advance. I have a simple query as I am new to Wikipedia. My query is, that I have created a page for a person in my Sandbox, but I am unable to find the "Move" option to publish it. On some pages, I have read that it takes 4 days for the 'Move' Option. Will the permission be available after 4 days or what additional efforts I should take for the publication? Thank you again for your Time. Ahsan --Ahsan171118 (talk) 07:58, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ahsan171118 Good day. Your sandbox article - User:Ahsan171118/sandbox does not meet the notability guidelines to be accepted in the Wikipedia mainspace. To meet the notability guidelines, the subject needs to have a significant coverage by independent, reliable, such as from the major newspaper and books where by the the sources have not affiliation, connection with the suject, for verification sources where by the source talk about the subject in lenght and in dept and not passing mentioned. Pls read WP:Your first article to understand the requirement better. So to answer you questions, you article will be deleted if if your article move to main space since the subject does not meet the notability requirements. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 18:49, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Cassiopeia, Thank you so much for your time to check and providing valuable suggestions. I will edit accordingly and resubmit. Thanks in advance. Ahsan. Ahsan171118 (talk) 12:35, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
Italics
Hey. What am I missing about using italics used for FON and PON awards? I don't see how that complies with MOS:ITALIC. Spagooder (talk) 17:38, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Spagooder Good day. For UFC POTN and FOTN, as per norm we link info to List of UFC bonus award recipients page and as per MOS:EMPHASIS we place italic for emphasis. You can check all subject pages on List of UFC bonus award recipients for the norm where POTN and FOTN is formatted. Pls see a list of editing norms and info on editing MMA related pages in Wikipedia in your talk page which would help you to understand certain things on how we edit those mentioned pages. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 19:09, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
Tsarukyan Personal Life Edit
Hello, I do not understand what you mean by "We the editors do not interpret the source which the source doesnt directly indicate." after the reversion of my edit. I cited different posts than the one that had been cited before with a clear explanation of how they demonstrate that he is a Christian. Wearing a cross necklace, calling the St. Gregory the Illuminator church in Yerevan as the "Mother Church", and posting a cross with a photo of the Hagia Sophia are clearly things that only a Christian believer would do. Please elaborate on what you mean by this statement. Doc2129 (talk) 19:43, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Doc2129, Thank you for message. The question is that "does the source directly indicate he is a Christian" ? If not then, whatever, he post with a cross of the Hagia Sophia or wearing a cross necklace and calling the St Gregory the Illumination churh of Yerevan/Mother churh can not be used by us, the editors, to interpreter he is a Christian. If you can find other [[WP:IS|independent\\, reliable source such as from the books or major newspapers directly say he is a Christian, then you are welcome to add the info in with inline citation. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 19:53, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from Danielehisaiguokhian (07:01, 22 January 2024)
Hello, I want to embark on an editing marathon to break a Guinness World Record (Longest edit-a-thon). I have applied for it already and it has been approved. How do I go about it here? --Danielehisaiguokhian (talk) 07:01, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Danielehisaiguokhian Good day and thank you for the question. As a new editor, I suggest you to take the short program - WP:TWA to understand the basic Wikipedia guidelines so you may familiar yourself the requirements and policies of Wikipedia when you editing the articles. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 14:28, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Germaine de Randamie
Hello,
You reverted my edit and left a message about an unsourced edit. Her height that I corrected comes literally from Sherdog. An editor changed the height incorrectly and it wasn’t reverted, so I changed it back how it was. I’m glad it was changed back correctly by someone else after you wrongly reverted it. For the next time, I advise you to check your sources yourself before you instantly revert something and send a message which doesn’t apply to me. Sendo79 (talk) 11:54, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Starting Monday January 29, all talk pages messages' timestamps will become a link. This link is a permanent link to the comment. It allows users to find the comment they are looking for, even if this comment was moved elsewhere. This will affect all wikis except for the English Wikipedia. You can read more about this change on Diff or on Mediawiki.org. [15]
- There are some improvements to the CAPTCHA to make it harder for spam bots and scripts to bypass it. If you have feedback on this change, please comment on the task. Staff are monitoring metrics related to the CAPTCHA, as well as secondary metrics such as account creations and edit counts.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 30 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 31 January. It will be on all wikis from 1 February (calendar). [16][17]
- On February 1, a link will be added to the "Tools" menu to download a QR code that links to the page you are viewing. There will also be a new Special:QrCode page to create QR codes for any Wikimedia URL. This addresses the #19 most-voted wish from the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey. [18]
- Gadgets which only work in some skins have sometimes used the
targets
option to limit where you can use them. This will stop working this week. You should use theskins
option instead. [19]

Question from Tril89 (03:10, 31 January 2024)
Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm reaching out for help. I want to update the Biography of Dale Fisher as the page is pretty outdated. I've been reading the wiki guidelines it's guiding me to a talk page or tea house to look for solutions but then I saw they have assigned a mentor. >https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Dale_Fisher
For conflict of interest, I work with Prof Dale Fisher but will uphold a neutral point of view in the edits.
I really do need your help - I hope to update the profile picture of Dale Fisher and the picture with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The photo of Dale is outdated. Also, in the post-pandemic era, Dale has since stepped down from chairing GOARN - World Health Organization (WHO) and I thought it would be timely and notable to readers of the page.
Permission was sought for these 2 images: > https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dale_Fisher_2023.jpg [ >https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prof._Dale_Fisher_receiving_a_certificate_from_Dr.Tedros_Adhanom_Ghebreyesus.jpg
> Change in GOARN chair source: https://www.who.int/director-general/speeches/detail/who-director-general's-opening-remarks-at-the-31st-goarn-steering-committee-meeting-global-outbreak-alert-and-response-network-(GOARN)%E2%80%9314-June-2022
Need guidance on how to do this. Could you help? --Tril89 (talk) 03:10, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- Tril8 Good day. Pls read or maybe read the info below as there is a lot of things you need to understand and familiar with:
- The image/photo - is permissible by Wikipedia to public in the subject's article.
- COI and PAID - Since you work with the subject, this means you have a WP:COI (conflict of interest} here since you are a WP:PAY (paid editor). We strongly suggest editor with COI does not edit on the subject page. You can either, provide independent, relaible source such as from the major newspapers and books on the talk page and if an interested editor would like to help you to add the info in or you can still edit but Wikipedia is strongly discourage of ) where you need to write the content in neutral point of view, plain, direct matter without "ANY" words/phases that would promote/enhance the subject - pls read WP:PROMO, WP:NPOV, and MOS:PEACOCK.
- you need to disclose you COI (Pls read - pls read WP:DISCLOSE) on your user page HERE 1 and the article talk page - HERE 2. If you dont do the above and edit with promotion tone and intent, you will be banned from editing Wikipedia indefinitely.
- I have removed all the unsourced content on the article. If you want to add them back, you need to provide independent, reliable source (not from WHO org, the university, govern, social media, affiliation sources) but from major newspapers and books. Pls also note that the WP:LEAD section (intro) only states the important info of the subject in a very brief manner where the info is already in the article sourced body text.
- I suggest you to take WP:TWA so you could familiar yourself with some of the basic Wikipedia guidelines to avoid certain issues when editing and reduce/avoid warning messages which would lead to block from editing.
- Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 02:59, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
