The article 1915 Biddle football team has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No evidence of notability for this one game "season".
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 12:40, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
Notability guideline for sports
The notability quideline for sports (Wikipedia:Notability (sports)) has recently been revised. Having played in a certain number of NFL games is no longer enough to confer notability (in the Wikipedia sense) on a person. The "basic criteria" of that notability guideline states; A person is presumed to be notable if they have been the subject of significant coverage, that is, multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject.

PROD removals
Hello BeanieFan11. I wanted to let you know that your removal of PRODs and Notability tags from articles may slow down the deletion process. I also want you to know that some of the minor newspaper clippings you seem to be citing as reasons for PROD removal might not satisfy WP:GNG. You could also try to present a meaningful amount of significant reliable sources (the sources in your edit summaries at Ron Chiodi and Peter Thorndike seemed less than significant) and/or update the article to reflect the contents of those sources. I recommend you take a look at WP:DEPROD and, while it's not required, you could notify the user who added the PROD with {{subst:Deprod}}. Thanks. NytharT.C 00:42, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Mind explaining how a 20+ paragraph article in one of the top 65 largest newspapers in the US is a "less than significant" piece from a "minor newspaper"? And tell me, how does 20+ paragraphs in such a newspaper not "address the topic directly and in detail" (the definition of SIGCOV)? About the notability tag removals earlier today, I was going through the American football players with taggings and was only removing it from the ones who were clearly notable (as well as a few from other sportspeople who were recently determined notable at AFD, thus making the tags inapplicable). I'll try to message people with the {{subst:Deprod}} when I remove PROD. BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:05, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Do I mind explaining how 20 paragraphs are less than significant? Hmm... take a look at the website. Do those look like paragraphs to you? Or do they resemble sentences? Also, "
one of the top 65 largest newspapers in the US
" -- oh come on, are you going to make a Wikipedia article for everyone with an article in that newspaper? Now, try to picture the number of people the top 65 newspapers in the US have articles about. Thousands? Tens of thousands? What I mean to say is, having an article in a newspaper doesn't mean they deserve Wikipedia articles. Both Olympians I mentioned above haven't won medals in the Olympics; one ranked 31 and the other 27. - And what you said to me here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Ecker -- doesn't seem to be helping. NytharT.C 01:19, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- I've worked on a lot of wikipedia articles and have been in a lot of deletion discussions, and I can tell you that articles of that depth in major newspapers do count as SIGCOV (to answer your question,
are you going to make a Wikipedia article for everyone with an article in that newspaper
, I think that if the person has an in-depth article from a paper like that, and then a second from another paper (to satisfy GNG's requirements of multiple sources), then yes, we should have an article on him/her). And results in the Olympics are completely irrelevant nowadays when determining notability, even being a medalist (sadly) sometimes won't be enough for an article when the person has no coverage. Also, what do you mean byAnd what you said to me here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Ecker -- doesn't seem to be helping
? BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:32, 29 August 2022 (UTC)- Please answer my first point on your apparently mistaken paragraph number exaggeration. Also, what I meant was "It wasn't helping". NytharT.C 01:40, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

- I took a look at the Ron Chiodi deprod. It looks like a 100% valid action on BeanieFan's part. If anything, I wonder whether WP:BEFORE was undertaken before the article was prodded. I added some of the "low hanging fruit" SIGCOV that was easily found. Cbl62 (talk) 01:57, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Cbl62: WP:BEFORE...have you thought about it for a minute? Maybe I don't have a subscription to Newspapers.com? Anyway, it's a bit difficult dealing with inclusionists, they'll just tell you "there's SIGCOV" and you know, there might be. The guidelines on this are a bit problematic. NytharT.C 02:07, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Nythar: We're all doing our best, and dividing the world into "inclusionists" and "exclusionists" doesn't help. Hopefully, we're all "building-a-better-encyclopedia-ists". Newspapers.com is an invaluable resource for checking notability of USA topics. You can apply for access through the Wikipedia Library. I hope that helps. Cbl62 (talk) 02:13, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Cbl62. The Wikipedia Library requires at least 6 months of activity (I think), so that's two more months left. And "inclusionist" isn't an insult, it's simply those who have a tendency to keep more articles. NytharT.C 02:22, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

DYK censoring
Please stop removing valid tags from pages just because they are on the main page. Issues don't disappear because the page is on the Main Page, and hiding the serious issues at the time most people will see the page doesn't help readers and doesn't help to attract editors. Perhaps fix the issue, or ask for the page to be removed from the main page instead? Fram (talk) 15:11, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Template:Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame members
BeanieFan11, just noticed your edits related to Template:Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame members. I think this navbox template should be deleted. A state sports hall of fame isn't a significant enough honor that a navbox is warranted, i.e. the honor is not so defining that direct navigation between honorees is needed. We've deleted many similar navboxes in the past. Also, note that awards and honors navboxes like this one should be placed after tenure navboxes; see my edits at Joe Purzycki and Mike McGlinchey (American football coach). Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 22:49, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

There is a deletion discussion for Errington Kelly and I wanted to find sources so I searched up Errington Kelly (who made 100+ English Football League apps) on Newspapers.com and found what seemed to be many sources. However, I could not see them fully since I do not have a credit card so can't subscribe. If you have a subscription to Newspapers.com would you be able to put full sources on Errington Kelly in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Errington Kelly? Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience, Das osmnezz (talk) 01:20, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Das osmnezz: I added a few links to Newspapers.com articles in the discussion ([1]). I believe you should be able to apply for free access at the Wikipedia Library. Its really helpful on American topics and to a lesser extent Canadian and British topics. BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:28, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Das osmnezz I very strongly recommend you apply to Newspapers.com as BeanieFan suggests. They don't ask for any payment details or anything, and you can get access within a few days of applying. I just got access granted and it was as easy as anything. MarchOfTheGreyhounds (talk) 19:31, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

Reggie Northrup + Im back
Hey, I have been gone for a months due to needing to take a break. But I'm back to edit and make relevant football articles as best I can. I am done with the Reggie Northrup article, If you find anything wrong with it, let me know. Thank you Karate LemonLime (talk) 15:56, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Karate LemonLime: :) Nice to see you back. After looking again at the draft, I realized that there needs to be a ref in the "Mixed Martial Arts career" section. So all that you need to do is add a reference to
Northrup's final match was in January 2022, where defeated Jay Mitchell in 35 seconds by knockout
and I can accept it. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:01, 20 September 2022 (UTC)- Ok cool, I will find where I got that from as soon as possible. Karate LemonLime (talk) 16:03, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- Okay I found it, and I'm not sure if I cited it correctly Karate LemonLime (talk) 17:04, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- It seems cited correctly (although it would be nicer if you used {{cite web}} format rather than a bare url). I have moved the page to mainspace. BTW, if you request an unblock from mainspace I think it would probably be accepted, as long as you make sure you understand the notability criteria. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:10, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- Ok thank you, I feel like the main thing holding me back currently is citing but thanks again. Also I wrote an article for Jarron Jones, but I forgot how to make it in Wikipedia for review. Karate LemonLime (talk) 14:00, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

- @Karate LemonLime: To create a page in Wikipedia, you need to click the "publish changes" button at the bottom left of the screen when you're finished (see picture). For referencing, Wikipedia:Citing sources may help (although I personally find it way too long). One thing you could do is have bare urls when you create it, and then immediately afterwards run refill on the page, which fills out most references. BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:15, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, and by the way I did some research and there are a few pages that need updating but I can't do it. But I found that Marion Grice, Thomas Mayo (gridiron football) and Darryl Stonum are in the new American Patriot League. Ra'Shede Hageman was updated but I doubt anyone would update the others. You don't have to do it or anything, you are the only person I talk to on here lol. Thank you again for what you gave me it's really helpful! Karate LemonLime (talk) 20:58, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Eddie Keenan
On 25 September 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Eddie Keenan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Eddie Keenan was once the largest American football player? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eddie Keenan. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Eddie Keenan), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
