WikiCup 2022 May newsletter
The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.
Our top scorers in round 2 were:
- Epicgenius, with 1264 points from 2 featured article, 4 good articles and 18 DYKs. Epicgenius was a finalist last year but has now withdrawn from the contest as he pursues a new career path.
- AryKun, with 1172 points from two featured articles, one good article and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews.
- Bloom6132, with 605 points from 44 in the news items and 4 DYKs.
- Sammi Brie, with 573 points from 8 GAs and 21 DYKs.
- Ealdgyth, with 567 points from 11 GAs and 34 good and featured article reviews.
- Panini!, with 549 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and several other sources.
- Lee Vilenski, with 545 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and a number of reviews.
The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Your draft article, Draft:Shepherd Rams football team
Hello, BeanieFan11. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Shepherd Rams football team".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Peter Beveridge (diver)
Thankyou for your vote at Peter Beveridge (diver). I am glad to see I was not the only person who was not able to come up with evidence on him. I have been taken to ANI in part for making this nomination, because alledgedly coming up with evidence is very easy. Evidently this same Beveridge was a police officer of which we have some coverage. I am not 100% sure if it is enough to pass GNG, but I am hoping being conciliatory and backing down will make the ANI go away. I am trying to work better with the larger Wikipedia community. I am not sure though that we have any direct evidence from a source that this same person did both diving and police work. We need to make the article focused on the police work and rename it. I would kindly invite you to look at the issue again, consult the further sources that have been shown, and see if you might want to consider changing your vote. I very much appreciate your contribution to this discussion. Thankyou for all you do to make Wikipedia better.John Pack Lambert (talk) 16:20, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

QPQ
As for QPQ I have started to create my first DYK review: Template:Did you know nominations/Messe modale en septuor. The article in question has not yet been checked for plagiarism and I don't know whether a QPQ has been done, or is needed. JIP | Talk 16:20, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Your review looks good. You just need to check for copyvios (which can be done by clicking "Earwig's Copyvio Detector" in the DYK Toolbox, listed on the right side of the DYK nomination) and check whether or not the DYK hook is cited in the article. Once you finish those add your QPQ to the Kuappi nomination and I will approve it. Also, it appears the nominator of Messe modale en septuor needs to provide a QPQ. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:17, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- I ran Earwig's Copyvio Detector and it gave the article a rating of "violation unlikely". Therefore I think the nominated article is free of plagiarism. I updated the review and linked it from my own nomination. JIP | Talk 18:47, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- @JIP: The nominator of the Messe modale en septuor DYK has provided a QPQ so I think you should approve it now. BeanieFan11 (talk) 21:33, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

- Speedy Deletion criteria G4 ("Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion") says
This applies to sufficiently identical copies, having any title, of a page deleted via its most recent deletion discussion.
The most recent deletion discussion for this topic was Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Let's Go Brandon (2nd nomination), which was closed as speedy keep, per the previous AFD which overwhelmingly had a consensus to keep. So G4 does not apply to the FJB redirect. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:18, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

Help for DYK nomination
I have almost everything, the creation of a new article: 2022 National Arena League season, the good hook, which is: ...that in the 2022 National Arena League season, a player hit a referee? All I need is the 1,500 characters, and I am asking for you to find more information about the season.
1,050/1,500 so far. Sportsfangnome (talk) 02:12, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Sportsfangnome: Well, I see there's an article about the two-way players which you could probably add info from. You might want to add some text about the playoff format ([1]). You could probably get some info out of this article. And finally you might want to add some information about Mike Hollis, the league's 50-year-old kicker. That's what I could find. BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:26, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- The following paragraph in National Arena League may help:
For the 2022 season, the league announced it was going to start playing using ironman rules, where most players must play both offense and defense, as originally used by the Arena Football League from 1987 to 2007.[46] In October 2021, the Roughriders stated they will not return to the NAL during a dispute with the league contract,[47][48] but were then in discussions with selling the team to the ownership group led by Ron Trideco to keep the team in the NAL.[49] On November 11, the league announced the San Antonio Gunslingers as an expansion team after playing their inaugural 2021 season in the AAL.[50] The Roughriders, Ontario Bandits, and Jersey Flight were eventually removed from the list of 2022 NAL teams[51][52] and were not included in the schedule.[53]

Help on big project
I am thinking of making a draft for a list of former NFL stadiums, with a couple of categories, stadiums used in the early era (1920-1940), stadiums used in the merger era (1941-1970), stadiums used in the current era (1971-present), and stadiums used due to damage of previous stadium. Tell me what you think, but right now I am focused on making a draft for Lakeside Park in Canton Ohio, most known for being the one used by the Canton Bulldogs. Paul Duncan and Brad D. White
I've noticed sometimes you create articles for football players that may not have one. Recently I've added Paul Duncan and Brad D. White to the Deaths in 2022 page, just tipping you off about them in the event they warrant an article. Rusted AutoParts 18:33, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know about White. I am absolutely stunned he does not have a page (I doubt anyone missing an article has more NFL experience than him, 73 games). Once I have time, I will get to creating that. About Duncan, I'm not completely convinced that he's notable, as there's only one non-death related piece of SIGCOV I could find (although there has been extensive coverage since he died which may bring him over the GNG bar).
