Hi

Hi. I'm Tasha. I am a traveler and write articles on where I've been. What about you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tashavill (talkcontribs) 02:43, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Tasha. I live in Haikou and write articles about everything. :) Do you take pictures of the places you travel? We always need pictures. You can upload them to WikiCommons and then add them to articles if you like. Welcome and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:48, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

About my page

Absolute bull███████████. What tha promotion, what da f███████████k?! This will be page for SEO competition's description, rules, sources, links for sources and so on... Whats the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlike (talkcontribs) 06:01, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Please don't swear.
I deleted it because the title was "Защо трябва да купим Acer от www.Notebook.bg?", which seemed to translate to something like "Let's buy this notebook" or "Here's where to buy this notebook". If you want to start a proper article about the product, please gather good media sources first. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:31, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Yes-as I already explained to the editor who deleted it but I think they deleted my explanation, I actually need some plot info. because the film aired and I found that it had been deleted in 2008 (copied)Diner (film) I was watching that movie and I missed some of it so I tried to find the plot on WP. Plot was missing. It took me awhile to find it, but when I found it I noticed that the editor who deleted it never bothered to post a plot synopsis. -That was not my plot editing, I copied it because some other editor had deleted it and it was sorely missing. It was not perfect but really I think that it was better than nothing or what was there. A pretty skimpy page for a movie imo.Housewifehader (talk) 07:52, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Your explanation (or edit summary) of "Replaced missing plot summary" is still in the article history, and so is the content. Before addressing the matter of whether or not the article should have the content, please help me understand where it first came from. I don't see it in the article history from before you added it. Did you write it? Is it from another website? If so, Which? Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:08, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
It was from the article history. I was watching the movie last night on television. I missed some of the film, and it was a little hard to follow so looked it up on WP. What was listed in the plot summary was really not very good and did not answer my questions that I needed answered. Some editor in 2008 had posted the, (now deleted again), plot here:http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Diner_%28film%29&diff=prev&oldid=196383379
When I posted it I also had the idea that what was there might need some work. Since the movie had just aired, I also thought that if I brought it back out to the article, that other editors would have a better chance to work with it, on the chance that the film is being viewed more often lately. Since I approached the article as a WP user and reader needing information, I will tell you that the version that I changed it to was much more useful to me than what was there two days ago. It really was a choice between two versions that were not completely satisfactory, but the detailed plot was much better in my opinion on that particular article.Housewifehader (talk) 17:46, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Wow, well done finding that. :)
Okay. Next step. See what the community thinks: Talk:Diner (film)#Detailed plot summary

DailyTech Business Computers

Hi Anna, I gave a full explanation to http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Taroaldo , about why it should NOT be deleted. What gives you autonomous permission to delete my article. There should be a voting system, this is a deplorable system.

I will ask Taroaldo to forward the message to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonyhallmailbox (talkcontribs) 11:57, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

I found no explanation at Taroaldo's talk page or his archives. Please provide that.
I deleted it because it only contained:
This article is about the corporation known as DailyTech Business Computers. For other uses, see DailyTech_(disambiguation).
That is not an article. It's more like a hatnote for an existing article. There was no claim of notability. No references. He tagged it for deletion so quickly. He could have given you some more time to prepare it. I didn't notice, so my apologies for that. But I did google it and found very, very little in the way of sources.
When an article goes "live", it must have some encyclopedic content and references. I'll tell you what, work on it in your sandbox, and when you have it prepared with sufficient references, I will personally put it into the mainspace for you and add infoboxes and things to make it nice. Okay? Sorry for the trouble. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:07, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
And please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:15, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Strike that :) lol - someone else beat me to it. I was going to tag a page for a speedy but wasn't quite sure on which of the criteria to use as it technically didn't fall into any of the categories. In any sense, it's been tagged now. Sorry about that :) Dusti*Let's talk!* 04:36, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Image - false claime

Hi Anna Frodesiak, I would like to ask you to check the validity of a picture. The picture claims to be drawn by Raja Ravi Varma, a renowed painter in India. However I had some doubts when I saw the picture it was like the images we can find in Childrens' illustrated comics. A link for the picture showing the source is given. It is highly uncertain that it could have been drawn by the painter who is in fact world famous in the field.

The link to the image is : https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Vishnu_Avatars.jpg

Please check the articles about Raja Ravi Varma. The source for the image is give as http://www.barodaart.com/oleographs-mythological.html The source website does not seem to be reliable. This website seems to have mixed the printed copies of the original images with other illustrations. E.g. Please check the 69th and 77th photo in the website both of same theme but both are different drawing. Please click on the pause button on the website below the image other wise it will move on. You can also view the quality of some of the images. I am new to wikipedia and naive on these issues. Please do the necessary proceedings. The painter has lived 100 years ago so it is not the issue of copy right but I am not sure about the claim of the painter being Raja Ravi Varma. Thanks. Keep up the good work you do here

Hi Anna,

As I was on my usual Wikipedia browsing routine, I stumbled upon BrightStarSky's user page and I saw the barnstars he had received from you. Going by the wording, I suspected there were some issues with his/her editing in the past. And, on some further probing my doubts were confirmed. I was extremely glad to see the kind of patience and level of considerateness you showed in dealing with him/her. Thanks to you, BrightStarSky is now a valuable contributor to this project.

I have been an avid reader of articles related to India (and an occasional contributor) and have seen you on WT:IND. I try to keep a tab on what's going on there, out of sheer curiosity. I understand patrolling India-related pages is a challenging task and you seem to excel at it.

Anyway, all I want to say is that I appreciate the work you do here and wish you all the best!

Thanks and regards, Unregistered User

Well thank you! That's very, very kind of you to say. BrightStarSky really deserves the praise. So many contributions, so few accolades. How often to we see the Big Red Disc worth nearly 20k?
As for India-related articles, I'm happy to work on them. I usually only do formatting and cleanup. I feel very at home working India-related because India is my favourite country, for very, very obvious reasons.
Thank you for the kind words my mysterious Unregistered User friend. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:42, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tadepalligudem, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jagannadhapuram (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Requested Articles

Hi! I am trying to reinvigorate Wikipedia:WikiProject Requested Articles, which, if I get enough pointers that there is some interest, I will re-design, with a design similar to Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors, involving drives, to decrease the number of articles listed in the various subpages, and blue link blitzes, involving editors removing all created pages. I am planning, with sufficient interest, to make requested articles 'stricter', i.e. you have to provide two reliable sources, and write a short note explaining why the requested article is notable. There would be a reward system, involving adapted barnstars, similar to the Guild of Copy Editors have here and here. If you have any questions about my aim, or want to indicate that you would sign up to the WikiProject, please say so on my talk page. Thanks! Matty.007 15:11, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

No, don't say that! You went above and beyond the call of duty by not only participating, but by striving to look for more photos to satisfy different editors' criteria, and I'm glad you did so. The problem was not your fault, but Canoe's inappropriate attempt to speak for others--though I'm not about to make a federal case out of it; I'm just going to contact the other editors who didn't seem the more recent photos.

Just one thing--could you make a statement on the talk page explicitly indicating which photo you now favor? I ask, because you previously said you favored A, and I just wanted to be clear, since you subsequently found others. Thanks again, Anna! :-) Nightscream (talk) 02:02, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. I thought you were ready to strangle me. :) Quite a lot of fuss, but in the end I think we will have a very nice photo in place. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:45, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

I dont really care about my page but a friend made it and it is not a hoax. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.242.206.58 (talk) 03:48, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

I understand. Actually, another user tagged it as hoax. I was considering deleting it as non-notable. But, seeing how it was written, I thought maybe it could be a hoax. Either way, I took the time to google the name, and found the subject to be clearly non-notable. If you wish to prepare the article in your sandbox and find lots of sources to support it, I'd be happy to take a look at it and move it into the mainspace. Best wishes, and sorry. Newbie

I'm not sure what to do on these talk pages, and I think maybe you have posted on mine, but I can't be for certain.

I'm trying to get optimized. I can't really find decent posts to edit for the editing that I do.

Could you help me out?

Thanks,

StaceyWriter (talk) 07:21, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Stacey, and welcome. Yes, each page, whether an article or a user page, has a "talk page".
An article talk page is like, well, imagine an article is on the front of a piece of paper for all to read. Well, if you look on the back of that paper, you will see notes, and discussions and such about how the article should be. That's the "article talk page."
A user page's talk page is a little different. The userpage, (this is yours User:StaceyWriter) is there for you to identify yourself or put a nice picture. Whatever you like. The talk page, (this is yours User talk:StaceyWriter) is like the back page also, but it's where we editors all communicate with each other.
It's a bit confusing at first, but it's bags of fun. What is it you'd like to do here at Wikipedia? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:30, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Anna, could you take a look at this page and nuke it? Also take a look at the link I posted on the talk page. Dusti*Let's talk!* 09:18, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Deleted. I salted the name too because it was deleted before in 2011, as a hoax, I think, and it contained such vile content, I thought it best. Thanks for pointing it out. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:24, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, you rock :) Dusti*Let's talk!* 09:25, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Anna, You once helped me in creating an article Thalassery biryani. Hi Anna, I have checked it once more and found that there are reference links to the Kerala Government website stating that the article which has been removed. The person who has removed states the reason that the article is baseless, but intentionally omits the references given by the government website and says the informations given in britannica encyclopeadia is not genuine. So there is some issue here. I hope you are capable enough to resolve the issue. Regards Sunaina

Please check the reference link of Kerala government given in that article and search for the keyword 'Maurya'. The source for the article deleted can be found. http://www.kerala.gov.in/index.php?option=com_content&id=2852&Itemid=2291 You will find that the information in article that has been deleted is genuine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sunaina Kunju (talkcontribs) 15:15, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

The article Hitler (company) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject doesn't appear to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. (See talk page.)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Paul_012 (talk) 16:12, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

I endorse deletion. I don't know what I was thinking when I made that. I blame it on cheap cough syrup. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:31, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
As you're the only main contributor to the article, I believe if you blanked it, it would qualify for {{db-g7}} wouldn't it? Dusti*Let's talk!* 18:20, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

From Wikithunderbird, 1 August 2013

Well, ANNA, I need your assistance.

Back around the 16 th of last month I sent you a talk item requesting your help. I pointed to problems that it looked as if I was going to have with an editor, Binksternet

I was getting reverts but no talk or clarification about my posts. Rather than start an edit war I asked for your help in getting Binksternet's participation in talk. I can find no record of the message that I sent you.

That is problem 1.

Sometimes I get messages that there is no record of my used id yet some of what I write gets recorded and I am logged in for 30 days.

That is problem 2. I'm not sure if there is a problem with m account id.

Recently I took a different approach to editing but I am still getting immediate reversions with no talk feedback from Binksternet. The most recent edit had been cut back and accompanied with a request to state what I had posted that was not in reference 1. The immediate reversion was accompanied by a threat to ban me from editing but no participation beyond that.

That is problem 3.

Did you get my discussion and concern about Binksternet several weeks ago? I see no record.

Should I immediately escalate and report this as a problem or can you be of assistance?

Greg Wikithunderbird (talk) 18:32, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Greg. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Let's see if we can work things out together.
First, about the content you wish to add, I'll stay out of that. That can be sorted out between you and other editors with a discussion at the article's talk page: Talk:TWA Flight 800
Problem 1
Problem 2
I'm not sure what you mean by "...Sometimes I get messages that there is no..." so here are links that may help you:
Problem 3
If you look at the TWA Flight 800 article history, you will see that you added content at 16:36, 1 August 2013‎ and Binksternet reverted it at 16:48, 1 August 2013. He did so with the edit summary "Revert per WP:NOR". Then he issued a warning at your talk here: User talk:Wikithunderbird#August 2013. The reason is that what you've been adding is disputed. That means that it's important to work it out at Talk:TWA Flight 800 before adding it. You must get consensus there with those who dispute the content. At Talk:TWA Flight 800, show what you wish to add to the article and seek feedback. Be patient. Give your reasons. Listen to their objections. Discuss.
When Binksternet reverted what you added, he didn't need to start a discussion. Because your edits are disputed, you must get consensus in the first place.
The BRD cycle goes like this: Bob makes and edit. Mary disputes it and reverts. Bob doesn't restore it, but instead starts a discussion at the talk page. Because what you added in the past is disputed, that cycle has begun.
I hope this helps. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:16, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

ANNA,

Thank you for your 8/1/2013 response. It is helpful.

I see that you and Binksternet did have an exchange on my request to you in mid-JULY. That exchange was new information for me; it had not shown up anywhere for me until now. Do you think that there is some problem with my account or could there be some other reason? I see that you had had a previous 'account question' exchange in your talk about 1 JULY 2013.

Now, Binksternet's justification was as follows: "The part about SAMs comes from an IP editor who made two edits, one posted on DanTD's talk page and signed "Greg", the other initiating the recent series of changes to the TWA Flight 800 article.

This second IP post was signed "wikithunderbird". Clearly, the IP is Greg who holds the account Wikithunderbird."

CLEARLY, these are two separate individuals.

CLEARLY, IN ACTUAL FACT, my account "Wikithunderbird" was NOT the source for the 'talk' on DanTD's talk page.

While my name IS "Greg", I made no posts to Wikipedia prior to JUNE 2013. And the post utilized by Binksternet for his opinion and action was made in MARCH of 2013. He could have easily checked that via a TALK exchange! ...........................................................................

Binksternet may have achieved his 100,000 edits by not taking the trouble to verify his opinions.

THAT IS MY OWN OPINION!

I am prepared to provide the source (the FBI) for the information that I did mention earlier, if and when I use it in an edit! Everything 'controversial' was removed from my most recent edit which was nevertheless reverted by Binksternet.

So, thank you for you help. I will post this to 'your talk' and to 'my talk' and hope that you will comment further. There are minor clarifications that I need.

Respectfully, Wikithunderbird (talk) 01:41, 2 August 2013 (UTC)*I don't think there's anything wrong with your account.

  • I can't find "...Clearly, the IP is Greg who holds the account ..." Please give me the page if you want.

Content I wish to add to the article

Hello. My edits have been disuputed in the past, so let's discuss things first here. I wish to add the following content to the article:

"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. The source of the content is here: http://www.some-website-full-of-great-information-and-stuff.com

Good luck. I'm here if you need me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:16, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

OKAY, Anna,

I will do it the way that you have suggested.

Those four references above do exist --- I viewed them all for the first time yesterday.

Perhaps your location in China and your use of 'leave a message' is causing (somehow) a bifurcation of our worlds and our histories. There is something strange here as I have had several notices that 'Wikithunder' can't be found; yet most things seem to work fine.

We will see how things go forward from here.

Thank you again for your assistance.

how do you upload an image? Hulkster1 (talk) 17:23, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:27, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you so much, THANK YOU THANK YOU you have no idea what this means to me Hulkster1 (talk) 03:21, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

You don't actually own those images, do you?
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:55, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

I know they are from google so what do i do if they arent mine Hulkster1 (talk) 20:44, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Don't upload them. The rules around this are difficult - you could start reading Wikipedia:Copyrights - and it's best not to upload anything until you're sure it's within the rules.
By the way, Google is just a means of finding other people's content; it doesn't mean that google owns the images.
There are a few cases where you could upload an image which you don't actually own the rights to - see WP:NFC for more details - but you have to be clear that the image fits one of those cases. There's no carte blanche for "I want to upload a picture from the internet". Sorry. bobrayner (talk) 23:12, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Bob. I tagged the images, but forgot to follow up with the info you just provided. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:29, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
so what else can i do? where do i go to upload a picture of a famous person besaides google
Hulkster1 (talk) 02:25, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
I think this is the simplest way to describe your options:
  1. Take a photo of the person yourself
  2. Find a photo on Commons
  3. Find a photo on some other site, which has sufficiently broad licensing (this option is less likely to yield results because a good photo of a famous person, with a broad license, would probably have been copied to Commons already)
  4. Don't add a photo.
Often we have to go with the last option. bobrayner (talk) 02:48, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Newbee :-) help to learn

Hi Anna,
You have helped me before. I have some queries, I would like to improve the quality of an article Thalassery biriyani, I have seen a recommendation for class B in quality scale for that article. Could you please guide me in improving the quality further. I think I could make this as a platform to learn. Also can you please let me know what does it mean by "Food and Drink task list:" in the talk page
Regards

A good guide is Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/B-Class criteria
The Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink task list you see in the talk page banner is just that, a list of tasks that you can do to help improve the articles. See the project page here and participate if you like:Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:45, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, You left me a message just then. I was just wondering what does my sandbox do — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dog With a Blog Episodes UK (talkcontribs) 10:22, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Hi, Dog With a Blog Episodes UK... technically a sandbox is a subpage of yours that helps you to work in either an article you want to create or something you want to build before you add it to the main space (e.g If I want to create the article: Tony The Snail... I just create a page named this way: User:Miss Bono/Tony The Snail and I start working on it). I hope this can help. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:45, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

I didn't protect the article on your account, I protected it because of Canoe. Again, no need to apologize. Your good faith and politeness have been exemplary, and I wish more editors and admins were like you. :-) Nightscream (talk) 13:39, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you Nightscream. I still feel bad about messing up what would otherwise have been a smooth procedure. Thanks for your understanding. I'm sure it will all work out in the end. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:53, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm troubled by the material in the article about the arrest of the two suspects. Although they have not been named yet, my assumption is that's only a matter of time. I believe that inclusion violates WP:BLPCRIME. What are your thoughts?--Bbb23 (talk) 17:54, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Good point. Maybe we should leave it out. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:58, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Has there been any additional "votes" since the last time I counted. Because the last time I counted, it was fairly even between A and the C-Es.
Me? I'm fairly even between A & C.
Ironically, the one photo that I think would make the best replacement would be something similar to this one, with the modification that he not hold up anything in front of him, and maybe smile a bit. The reason I like that one is that even though it appears to be take on the same day and in the same location as B, the main light source, unlike in B, is not behind him, so his face is not in shade. Is there any way we can ask him to take another like that, without the birthdate card, and with a smile, with that same type of lighting? Just an idea. Nightscream (talk) 19:21, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
Okay. I'll write to him again and see what he says. He's a very kind and patient man, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd had enough of the whole thing. Then again, I know he's not keen on the present image, so who knows? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:47, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

But the images were uploaded from your account. Are you saying you and John and Tina all use your account? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:53, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
It now appears that you are editing in a manner that promotes your organization. Policy that says "A user who both adopts a promotional username and also engages in inappropriately promotional behaviors in articles about the company, group, or product, can be blocked." You did that when you uploaded images from a book you promote, and when you copy pasted content from that book into articles (which, by the way, is a violation of the policy Wikipedia:Copyright violations), and when you added content to an article using the book as a reference, (and were reverted and persisted). You also copy pasted content from another individual's website with whom you are affiliated.
You also just said that your account is shared, and that is a violation of the policy that says "...accounts shared by multiple people, are as a rule forbidden and blocked."
I have no choice but to block your account. But, you seem like a nice threesome who may wish to edit constructively, so please discuss the terms of your unblock at your talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:18, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

You're great!

Hi, Anna,

Somehow, I ended up on a User Talk Page of an editor who rather hastily puts warning notices on other editor's Talk Page. Rather than chewing them out, you gently corrected them, offered some helpful advice and then later returned to their Talk Page to see how they were doing. Although their tagging habits haven't really improved, I was impressed with how kind & caring you were....the embodiment of AGF!

So, I was surprised to see you were an Admin! My experience with most (80%?) of Admins is that they quickly lay down blocks of any users who seem difficult or, unfortunately, might not have English as their first language. I got into a disagreement with one Admin yesterday because there was an Ani filed, a notice was posted on the User's Talk Page about it and, less than 24 hours later, the editor received a indefinite block! He had not even been on Wikipedia that day to see the notice or respond and it was only after I complained that another notice was posted on his Talk Page informing him he was banned and how he could appeal it.

But that's my frustration talking and I really came here to compliment you on the way you handled the misguided editor. It makes me believe that there are Admins who are more interested in educating users on how to improve rather than punishing ones that don't conform to expectations. Newjerseyliz (talk) 20:41, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Newjerseyliz,
Thank you for the kind words. And thanks for pointing out the hasty editor. I just posted at his page gently asking him to give milder warnings. I think he means well, but a few pleases and thank yous are always good.
As for 80% of admins, well, they're going by long experience. Assuming good faith is important, but it's not a suicide pact. And in this case, a block was reasonable. I might have first posted something like: "There are serious issues with your editing. I must insist that you stop editing in the mainspace until they are sorted out. 1) Please read WP:RS and WP:V. 2) Make small changes to articles to test the reaction. 3) Please don't post huge walls of text. 4) Slow down." Even then, I suspect competency issues that would have eventually lead to a block.
Anyhow, thank you again for writing. If you ever need anything, just ask. I'm always around. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:08, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

How do you like the new article so far.

You should see the progress I am making on the article "Lists of Species Believed to still be alive". I have made a lot of progress on it so far. I will cite my sources shortly. In the mean time, would you like to contribute to creating the article? :) Keeby101 (talk) 05:04, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

I can't say I like the article so far because I can't see it. I can't see the progress because it doesn't exist at Wikipedia yet. You are welcome to start them at once, but you really ought to see what they say at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life#Extinction lists before you begin. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:17, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Here it is: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_species_rumored/believed_to_still_be_alive

What do you think of it so far? I know it needs a lot of improvement and I am going to cite my sources very soon, but in the mean time I will be adding more species to it. I would love it if you and others would help contribute. :D Keeby101 (talk) 05:35, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Well, I think it's oddly laid-out, unsourced, and could be nominated for deletion any second. I still think the best course would have been to wait for guidance from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life#Extinction lists. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:46, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Mamata Banerjee

Hello, For the first para, the reference [1] says

"The mecurial TMC leader who was voted in May 2013 as India's most honest politician in an internal poll by members of India Against Corruption, "IAC", India's largest anti-corruption coalition, being closely followed by the Chief Minister of the neigbouring state of Bihar Mr. Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) "JD(U)" Party." whereas I inserted
"The mecurial TMC leader was voted in May 2013 as India's most honest politician in an internal poll by members of India Against Corruption, India's largest anti-corruption coalition."

So I cannot understand why the reference does not support the source and you have deleted it. I have "copied" the source even for its spelling mistakes like "mecurial". The source is open source - "COPYRIGHT : News content on this website may be utlised / reproduced / disseminated unconditionally. IndiaNewsCo assumes no liability whatsoever for such usage." [2]TheWikiIndian (talk) 09:11, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

By golly, you're right! I'm terribly sorry. I was looking at the wrong reference. As for "open source", I'm checking into that, but I suspect you are right there too. My humblest apologies. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:41, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
And here comes the second apology: By golly, you're right again! I'm terribly sorry. :) Public domain it is. That's a first for me.
Again, my doublest apologies to you. I blame just having woken up, the national coffee shortage, and of course, my keyboard. Yes, it was my keyboard. Always blame the keyboard. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:50, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

The article Farali Dry Potatoes is perfect with it's source. You can find Farali Dry Potatoes recipe in http://www.indianfood4ever.com as article posted it on website May - 21 - 2013. I don't know why Anna Frodesiak could not find anything and give reason like I really can't find any sources for this other than the spammy http://www.indianfood4ever.com but there is also search option in website and that will help you to find article with same keyword.

Here even though I can give you perfect URL for that particular recipe http://www.indianfood4ever.com/farali-dry-potatoes-suki-bhaji/

I added homepage because anybody can find Farali Dry Potatoes by search and many other recipes which are useful to make good food at home. Please don't do this kind of activity without check the website.

You sure pasted the website a lot of times. Are you trying to promote that site? Oh, and I can't find references for that dish elsewhere. Can you? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:59, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure why you copy pasted the above post here from Talk:Farali Dry Potatoes.

We've had a problem with the indianfood4ever site before. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam/2013 Archive Mar 1#indianfood4ever.

Before I proposed Farali Dry Potatoes for deletion, I googled it and also searched google books. I found nothing but indianfood4ever. That is not a reliable source. Please read WP:42. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:18, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Now, please do tell. Are you related to that website? Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:18, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

No I don't want to promote my website here. I will delete this source and all when our discussion over here.

I really don't know about Steavmartin1 who spam indianfood4ever.com website. Yes, it's my own website. I don't want to promote it in any marketing sens. I just want to provide information that's it. There are many other wiki who accepted my external links on some post. I am not smart in wikipedia. Just want to share information. I already provided recipes link from my website of Farali Dry Potatoes. So, if you want that I will put my deep page website as in external than I will provide it there but it's not way to send request for delete. I have many recipes but I post that only which are not available in wikipedia just because to share something, Nothing else. Thanks you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaushal9968 (talkcontribs) 08:10, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Why can't you just protect the page? You see what that IP number is doing. Maybe I have to keep on reverting it, because you don't want to protect it. Thanks, Anna, for the nice words about me on the talk page of Boing! said Zebedee. It's true, I keep a low profile and leave problematic discussions to the devotees, but I use the mop when necessary. In the WikiProject Gastropods, discussions are few and usually scientifically oriented. It is just a gigantic amount of work. I go on and on with no end in sight during my lifetime. But it's fun and that' s the most important. The moment when you realize that it no longer interests you, that is the moment when you start pondering if you should leave. I think that is what happened to Boing! said Zebedee. It's a pity, but that's life.

Not to pressure you but, we haven't heard about Morleigh's picture in a couple of months, and I was taking a look at this section you started and then Wasted Time pointed out this link. So, because of our lack of response from Steinberg, I was thinking about that you may want to contact the photographer to see if you have success. I will do it myself, but as you might already know I have an even restricted Internet access than you have. So, if that doesn't bother you... would you help us? P.S. hi

hi anaa,,,just wanted to know why my page was deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamjoybanerjee (talkcontribs) 12:33, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Joy,
I deleted it because it was highly-promotional content, appeared to be an article in userspace, (where the recommended course is deletion), and was created by you about you. Considering it was the only edits you'd made, (I think), I felt you were using Wikipedia as a webhosting service.
But, even though I don't think the subject is notable enough for an article, I've restored it and moved it off your userpage to a sanbox. See your userpage for the link. I hope you develop the article and it enters the mainspace. I also hope you contribute to Wikipedia in areas other than your own article. Best wishes. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:19, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

With or without the mop... with or without the mop... she can work... with ot without the mop!! --give it the actual rhythm... :) Congrats on your bstar! :) (As you don't know anything about U2, as you said, you probably won't get the song but I gave it a try :P) Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:36, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello Anna. Would you be interested in taking a look at my sandbox? :D

I am not trolling when I am asking this of you. Not at all. I am making the articles that you asked, but I am also making something in my sandbox that is very interesting. When it is done, it will be something of immense size. Take a look at my sandbox and find out! User:Keeby101/sandbox Cheers! :D Keeby101 (talk) 18:55, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

I never thought you were trolling -- just going a bit faster than your experience could carry you, and not quite listening to the community. That's not a crime. :)
The draft seems very ambitious. That's a good thing. If it's intended to replace Sasanian Empire or Early modern period, that's a bad thing. I strongly suggest that you post at one of the following wikiprojects to ask for feedback and guidance before you spend a lot of time on it:
I'm here if you need me. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:28, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for deleting 'Chickapedia'. When I came across this page, it appeared to have been created by a vandal who has been blocked for 4 years, and it had an inappropriate redirect to another page. Believe it or not, as I am unfamiliar with the deletion process, I had actually opened your talk page to ask you if you would care to deal with it. But, I had a feeling you would just tell me to do it myself, so I tried to do just that. It seems I got one of the steps wrong (wp:afd is not a walk in the park), and for my effort, I had a picture of a giant fish posted on my talk page. Mind you, the person who did that, didn't bother to point out how I went wrong, nor did they bother to deal with the page in question themselves, nor have they bothered to reply to my request for any follow up info from them. But, that's typical the strangely enigmatic Wikipedia community - sometimes pleasant and helpful, sometimes nasty and useless.

While I'm here, I would like to ask: If one comes across a questionable page, is it acceptable to just bring it to the attention of an admin?

Thanks. - thewolfchild 12:06, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Happy to help. I didn't quite know what to do with it either at first. I knew it had to go, but under which criterion?
We have a number of ways of dealing with inappropriate pages. That's a long story. You can put on a pot of coffee and read Wikipedia:Deletion policy, or you can just post here, and I'll do my best to handle it.
Don't worry about the trout. It's a mostly-friendly thing. You could slap him back with a trout for not replying, or even hand deliver a File:Moose liver.jpg if you want. :)

Hi Anna

I was looking at the article on James Georgeff. I noticed that his page is up for deletion and it seems as if it has been marked by yourself for deletion. This player does play in a fully professional league. American's don't understand soccer very well. In Europe, lower division leagues are professional all the way down to about the 4th and 5th division in most countries. In Germany the 4th division is professional league and the team he plays for has played against a top-tier German team which competes against the best teams in Europe such as Manchester United etc. He has played in the German Cup. I know this because I follow Australian soccer players who play abroad. Deleting his wiki page I believe would be wrong. He is an Australian soccer player who has gone on to do some really great and noteable things and achievements in the soccer world. Most Australian players never go anywhere in the professional world of soccer in Europe or the USA. James Georgeff has done all of those things. He makes his living from playing soccer professionally in German and has no other job. He is on a professional contract. He has a European sports agent. He also get's free flights included as part of his contract agreement each year to go home and visit his family in Australia. He meets the criteria of Wiki based on many reasons which have all been proven and sourced. It is not as if he is a nobody and has no evidence of him having played at the professional level. He has played at the fully professional level. There are many players listed on the Houston Dynamo All time roster page, such as Chris Aloisi and others who all have wiki pages but also never actually played in an official MLS league game. However they did compete in US Open Cup matches and various professional pre-season tournaments. At the time when James Georgeff was at Houston Dynamo the roster squad was filled with US National Team players and James was playing and training alongside those guys on a daily basis. At the time when James joined Houston, they were the best team in the Nation and had just won a national championship. They gave him an international roster spot which is very hard to get as he is competing for only 6 spots on the roster with players from all over the world. He was given a full professional contract during his time at this club and without his exposure to the MLS and Houston dynamo during his rookie season as a professional there is no way that European clubs would have considered signing him. His team in Portugal was professional and in the 2nd division of Portugal. Whoever is telling you that these leagues are not professional leagues they are wrong. It is not fair that administrators who do not understand soccer or who do not understand European professional leagues are trying to bring this article down. Just by reading the article through, it is very obvious and evident that this player is noteable enough for a page. Even if it was originally submitted perhaps by the user himself. This does not mean that it is not worthy of being on here. I would hardly call it self promotion to make a wiki page. It's not exactly going to get him further in life by having a wiki page. However for Australians and Americans and people he has ever played with, I am sure that if they stumbled across his wiki page they would be very interested in how his career turned out and where he played and to read about his story and pathway to becoming a professional soccer player. Which he is! Not every single professional player in the world are house hold names. James left Australia at a time when Australian soccer was in a bad way. A few years after James went overseas to play and take on bigger opportunities in the soccer world Australia finally got it's act together and started a new professional league. During the time that this new league was starting in Australia, James was already off in Europe and in the MLS and exercising his trade. He has many media articles about him. From many independent and reliable sources. He has news coverage video footage in Australia and much much more in terms of coverage. Many of his articles are in German or based in Australia. Just because soccer isn't necessarily the biggest sport in the USA, he most certainly is a noteworthy player in Australia and has done extremely well in his career to go as far as he has in Europe. To be able to play professionally and make his living from playing soccer in Germany is not at all an easy thing to do. James has achieved this dream and deserves to have his story to appear on Wiki.

Some of the moderation I have read has been very harsh and very nit picky and in fact some of it has been inaccurate and false. I have noticed comments from multiple admins who have stated things that are not true and they have nothing to base their argument off except for saying something like. "this isn't a reliable source" just because they have not heard of it. Have you thought that maybe the source is reliable somewhere else in the world, maybe not in USA as such, but James sure is noteable and a full professional soccer player in every sense of the word. He even lived in the USA on a P-1 visa which is a professional athelete status visa which can only be given out after very strict guidelines are met. Guidelines much stricter than those on wiki. I vote to keep his article. You would be doing the wiki community an injustice by deleting a valid page for what seem to be nit picky reasons with what seems to be nothing more than an odd fascination from the moderators to bring the article down at all costs just to feel as if they were right. But at the end of the day, I don't think that this is about who is right or who is wrong. James IS a professional soccer player. He has played for multiple fully professional teams other than Houston. He deserves the credit for the achievements and the career he has had in the sport of soccer.

Thank you.

P.s. A background on me. I am an Australian who now lives in the USA and I coach soccer as my job. I work for an MLS team called the Portland Timbers and I work with the Timbers youth pre-academy and academy teams as a professional soccer coach. I also played soccer in the second highest division in Australia. My contract in Australia was a semi-professional contract and my contract stated so at the top of it. Other players who were on full professional contracts had different contracts that stated this. James is a player who has signed multiple different full professional soccer contracts and has played in multiple fully professional leagues and league games with fully professional soccer clubs.

First, this is a case of WP:TLDR.
Second, I try to assume good faith, but I cannot ignore what is obvious.
I think this is a sockpuppet or meatpuppet account. The same goes for Htownsports.
Also, I don't think you were just "...looking at the article on James Georgeff..." I think you registered to sway the James Georgeff AfD. You registered and first edited articles to state certain teams are professional, so as to help turn the tide in the Georgeff AfD.

Nima Arkani-Hamed

Hi, you have restricted edit for Nima. The problem is user Artavas is deleting Tabriz for the birthplace of Nima's parents. I've referenced MIT source for Mr. Jafar Arkani-Hamed, who is Nima's father and mentions Tabriz in his biography. It seems to me Artavas has a racial agenda for deleting Tabriz. It's because Tabriz is an Azerbaijani-speaking city and Artavas is Armenian and is possibly taking Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict to Wikipedia to wage his prejudice. Needless to mention that Artavas seems ungrateful to Tabriz which has an Armenian community even as Armenians have driven out every Azerbaijani from what is now Armenia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.177.247.142 (talk) 09:02, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I won't get involved in the article content. Please start a discussion at Talk:Nima Arkani-Hamed. You can register an account if you like, or continue to edit as an IP. Either is fine. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:17, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Blocking commercial account without any prior notice

Hello,
please immediataly unblock User:VermaportLtd this user. I feel its strongly against a Wikipedia's core policy to block an account without any prior notice or providing a chance for the user to correct their mistakes and/or provide explanation. --hydrox (talk) 17:12, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi hydrox. I don't think it's a good idea to unblock that editor. I'll leave it up to him to request an unblock. The reason is that his username is VermaportLtd and he edited Vermaport by adding content including www.vermaport.com. That's really against policy.
As for my formatting the of urls he added, I took it on good faith, deciding to leave it to others to evalualte the links and content. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:32, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
This is starting to sound a bit wiki-lawyerish, but that policy is enforceable with a block only if the user has engaged in promotional editing. I see no evidence of promotional editing in neither of the two edits the user made; it could very well be that he has a perfectly valid reasons for the edits he published. Although his user name is clearly in violation, there seems to be no evidence he has an intent of malice, and blocking new account creation seems counterproductive. (If there is evidence that the user would continue to edit inappropriately under a new username, the blocking administrator should enable the "autoblock" and "prevent account creation" features. Otherwise, the user should be offered the opportunity to create a new account.)
Based on this, I would still suggest unblocking the user for now and replacing the "blocked" banner with {{uw-coi}} and {{uw-coi-username}}, so the newbie at least has a chance to correct himself. --hydrox (talk) 19:23, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
You may be right. But, his edits are suspect, possibly a hoax, so far single-purpose, and promotional. Common sense tells me that a "User:Mike's Auto Parts" account that shows up and edits "Mike's Auto Parts" article isn't here to become an encyclopedia-building editor. He's here representing his company and will only edit to promote his company. He's welcome to communicate at his talk and tell me otherwise. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:59, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Talk page stalker FWIW I agree with the block. Dusti*Let's talk!* 03:08, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the guidance. I asked at IRC admin channel and around 6 out of 6 said the block was okay. I asked one admin about a softerblock and he said what I did was okay. In hindsight, I may have softerblocked but cannot see myself just dropping a kind note and monitoring for further edits.

It's tricky. There's the letter of the policy, my common sense, and what the conventional course is for other admins. I used the latter two.

In cases where I'm not sure, I watch the contribs/pages to see what other admins do. That's how I've been learning. I've seen hundreds and hundreds this way. I would have been very surprised if another admin didn't block one way or the other. That was part of my rationale. I did what another admin would likely have done in half an hour. The Admin's Barnstar
For your great actions in this whole stuff. We all weren't taking the wrong decision when we voted for Suport for you! :) Can I be like you!? lol (not the admin part, that's not for me) Miss Bono [zootalk] 18:08, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
I thought about giving you The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar, but I didn't know how it works... Sorry for so many bstars but I really think you deserve them and if nobody gives you any... I'll do it!. Miss Bono [zootalk] 18:08, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Miss Bono! You are too kind. But I don't deserve praise for that mess. I caused it. I approved the article in the first place. I just don't understand sports, and really thought he played for a professional team. Now I definitely, totally vow to stay away from sports articles. Anyway, I hope that whole matter just ends. It's been a huge drain on community resources.
(talk page stalker) actually you helped identify several socks and gave us badly needed experience in applying obscure guidelines :) Flat Out let's discuss it 03:41, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Best wishes to you, and thanks again for the lovely star. Oh, and I'll let you know what happens with the Steinberg photo. The Flickr person wrote back asking which image. I told him. I'm now waiting for a reply. Fingers crossed. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:26, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
I like sports (chess and soccer just to see this awesome guy playing) I'd prefer staying away form sport articles as well... too messy :D. You'll see that the whole matter will end in the blink of an eye... I've forgotten the whole OMS stuff, it that makes you feel better :P... This things happen we just have to keep calm and carry on. Anyways... don't matter what happens, you are an awesome wikipedian, don't forget that.
Thanks for everything you do for me, for my first article ever --I don't mean to be so annoying with this matter but I'd like to see my very first article as decent as the best article Wikipedia have, though I know it'll never been seen that way, but every effort is good.--, and for Wikipedia. Anna I need an advice from you? A couple of months ago (when I had 2 days of Internet access) I visited this site (I don't know if you have access or not-- and I still don't understand why almost everything is blocked in China :'( that must be sad)... Anyways :) in the gallery section there are a lot of great pictures of them taken by fans and by a guy named Kevin Mazur (I don't have idea of who he is :?)... They are amazing pictures and I was thinking about if you could give it a try, ask in the website if the picture has free-liscence or try to contact Mr. Mazur. What do you think? Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:31, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I can visit the site, and the gallery, but I don't see Mazur. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:38, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
The pictures from Vertigo Tour in the gallery have his name at the bottom right corner, maybe you could google him or ask at the help page of the site. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:44, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Bottom right is Big Bunny. I don't see any Vertigo Tour. Please give me a link. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:47, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Let me check in my external HDD to see if I downloaded any of those pages, gimme a couple of minutes. Would the name of a picture work for you? Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:55, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
An actualy web address, an url, would be best. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:57, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Found something in my old archives. media community. I don't know exactly what's there, but it says media :) I am still looking for something better. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:01, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Found another interesting one it says Members Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:06, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I can't access that site. The link ends up at "We're sorry, we've encountered an error." The only way I can help is if you give me an exact web address where the images are and where I can contact the person who owns them. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:07, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

What about this click on me!. I am working to get the right address for you. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:10, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Found this one Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:20, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Okay. What do you want me to do with that? Register? No way. :) :) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:24, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I actually can't see what's behind the URLs, I am just seeking the ones that probably are related to the picts and the authors. I didn't mean to upset you by implying that you should register… I know you don't like U2. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:29, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Not at all. I'm not upset. :) And that last link you gave me is just more gallery squares. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:33, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Do you have Google in China? You could probably google Kevin Mazur or type "Vertigo Tour Gallery at U2.com". The exact address should be this, the last time I was there (2 month ago) a full list of the sub-galleries would unfold and you could click on the one you'd liked it the most, and then it'd appear a lot of pictures, I guess if you click on one of those it would show the author and other stuffs. I think the google way would be the best. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:36, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
He sells his stuff for a lot of money. I don't think he'll donate anything. I'll see if I can dig up an email address and try. 1% chance. Don't hold your breath. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:49, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I won't. Still we can try with fans... they surely won't sell the pictures... or contact Principal Management. That would be an awesome shot. I gave you the email address a few months ago Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:53, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Wait a second. You're looking for a Steinberg image, right? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:08, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Wao... train collision!! Well, I though you had contacted the author of the picture of Steinberg and you were waiting for a response, so I wasn't asking you for a Steinberg picture. You see? That's why I need a better English knowledge. You aren't angry at me. Are you? Miss Bono [zootalk] 14:13, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I am in the process of finding a Steinberg image from Flickr. I thought you wanted me to find a Steinberg from another source also just to be sure. If you want me to find free pics of U2, I won't even try. We have plenty. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:19, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
And no, I'm not angry. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:20, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Phew, thank God you are not angry. Go ahead with Steinberg. We need one for this. I am waiting until mid Sept when I'll have email access again so i can start with the attempts. I got an email address to write to in EDUN. I will see if I can make you proud :) Miss Bono [zootalk] 14:25, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Now I'll be off for a while I have to check some real work stuffs. See you later. See if you can find Steinberg picts from the source I gave you as well. Cheers! Miss Bono [zootalk] 14:27, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm back, friend. Miss Bono [zootalk] 15:48, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I remember there was a really good picture of Morleigh in the Zoo TV, where she can be seen much better than the one we have here Morleigh_Steinberg#Early_career_and_work_with_U2. Maybe it'd work. Miss Bono [zootalk] 16:39, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Link! Yay!!

I, Jethrobot found the link for the picture. I hope you can access the page. this one!. I told him to write down info of the owner just in case you cannot access the page, and so he could email you directly. Let me know when you get this message. Miss Bono [zootalk] 17:09, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Anna, just let me know below if you'd like me to e-mail you the image. It looks like the website is maintained by a Signatures Network, Inc., and the copyright information about the gallery images doesn't provide anything more specific than ©2013 U2 at the bottom of the page. If you're trying to get permissions, this feels like a shot in the dark to me... I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 17:21, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Guess we'll have to stick to Flickr. Jeth, at least we tried. Miss Bono [zootalk] 17:26, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks I, Jethrobot. It's probably best for us to drop this one. Writing to a subject has a good chance. Writing to individual at Flickr who owns a pic of a subject is a long shot. Writing to a company? Like you say, a shot in the dark. A long shot in the dark. I think we should pass on this one and call it case closed. Thanks for your efforts. We're much obliged. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:34, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
I've actually had some success with Flickr. I was able to contact a user over there to relicense his photos of Ron Hextall, which are now on the article! I hope you find some success, too.  :) I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 00:43, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Well done. I've little experience writing to Flickr users. Maybe there is hope for the Steinberg image I seek from there. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:49, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello there

Hi there,

I have come across Praveenkumarchrg during my additions to the Gandhidham Bg Railway Station page & well i dont quite know what he has been doing but he has logged close to 200 edits inside a very short space of time.

My question - (1) Does this number of edits on a page not trigger a automatic review of his actions by an admin or someone with review status. (2) I believe he needs some guidance on what he is doing regarding his edits. How can he be helped? Superfast1111 (talk) 10:40, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Superfast1111. Actually, I'm glad you're writing to me. You can really help.
I've gone through his edits and spotted issues with categories. He wouldn't stop after repeated warnings, so I blocked him yesterday for 12 hours. I will keep an eye on him in that regard.
Here's where I need your help. How are the rest of his edits? They're about train stations, and I don't know much about that. Please let me know what guidance you feel he needs. Consider discussing things with him. If he doesn't communicate, and persists with questionable edits, let me know.
And no, I don't think the amount of edits will trigger anything. But that's okay. We're watching.
Thanks again. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:50, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi Anna,
Good to hear from you so quickly. Due to his number of edits i cant make head or tail of what he is doing. My best guess is that instead of previewing, he directly goes to save and repeats the process several times.
Where he can be helped is that we need to make him understand the use of the the preview button before he uses the save page. Perhaps he can be advised to check out some of the well written pages which he can use as a template & customize his own articles there & ofcourse keep his number of edits down to a minimum.Superfast1111 (talk) 11:07, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I think his making lots of small edits can actually help us. You know how to use the history right? He can make ten small edits and we can see the overall diff with one click. So, many small edits doesn't make it harder. I can actually make it easier because we can sometimes pick a version that's good and keep that. But what about the content he's adding?
See this history. Now, click the dot in the left column beside "11:54, 13 August 2013‎ Shyamsunder". Now, click the dot in the right column beside "07:38, 14 August 2013‎ Praveenkumarchrg". Now, click the rectangle box that says "compare selected revision". That will show you the before and after. Do you see anything incorrect?
See: Help:Page history.

You're right about the ridiculously large amount of Praveenkumarchrg's small edits. I was looking at the sock's edits when I commented. I just took a look at the present state of the (few) articles he's worked on. Although they were in a rough state before, they seem to be okay now. As long as the facts are right, I have no problems with the articles now. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:23, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
No i did'nt know that about the history page but i doubt it could be used to check 200 edits or so. It took me nearly 2 yrs before i learned to upload images through commons so its going to be a while before i can use history to its true potential although i can use it to check 2 or 3 edits or so. But i could only see 1 block from KrakatoaKatie on Praveenkumarchrg page which has since lapsed. Anyway lets monitor him & see how it goes.
On another note, would you like to analyze any of my recent works?

Superfast1111 (talk) 05:45, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

I didn't block Praveenkumarchr. I only blocked Dwarapureddy Praveen Kumar. See User talk:Praveenkumarchrg#Your sockpuppet account.
Yes, let's keep an eye on him. Keep this link: [3]
I will take a look at your contributions and let you know if I see any issues. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:13, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

I have left him a small note on his talk page. Lets see if it helps him. Looking forward to your comments on my work. Superfast1111 (talk) 07:13, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

regarding silence- one of the best web sources on silence and spirituality is a site called www.puresilence.org--I offer you to visit it and put back the external link I offered--that link has been there for over two years...why did you remove it?

what rights do you claim? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markshrimp (talkcontribs) 17:39, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Regarding the link you added here, I think it's inappropriate for the article because it violates a fair number of points at WP:ELNO. Please don't be upset. It's just my view.
I claim the rights of an ordinary editor, just like you. My opinion isn't more valuable and I may be wrong. If you think the link is appropriate, please start a discussion at the article talk page so we can see what others think. But for now, please don't put the link back. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:54, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks!

For trying and thanks to Jethro too. I hope as well that you have success at Flickrs :) and we finally have a pict in the article. I saw a Polimita yesterday on TV and I thought about a friend of mine... guess who she is? lol Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:11, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

By the way, how can I know the amount of words that an article have. I am trying to expand an article and I want to see the before and the after. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:24, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure which article you mean.
This counts characters, not words: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/charcount.shtml We use that to see if an article is big enough for DYK. This seems to work for words. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:59, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Yeah thanks Anna, I won't be able to check those links because I have no access. A month ago I made some changes to Larry Mullen Jr.. As for the article I was going to expand, conection at work (the only place I can access Wikipedia) was a mess on Friday, some major problems with the proxy and stuffs and I really couldn't do much. I was working in this Walk On (U2 song), Elevation (song) and Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of. Those are songs I really like and I would love to expand them. So I wanted to know how is it going. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:44, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Sorry to hear that. If there's an important text you want counted, please just say which article, or paste it into one of my redlinked sandboxes (attributed in the edit summary of course) and I'll do the count and post the results at the top of the page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:48, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, friend. I'lll be working hard today to build an encyclopedia and I'll let you know. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:15, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Retirement

Hi Anna,

I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about retirement. My Internet access problems remain and I really don't want to be a talk user wandering from talk to talk, without contributing to Wikipedia. I just have a book as reference and without my mentor around I don't think I can be helpful. What do you think it's best? Miss Bono [zootalk] 16:07, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
That's a terrible pity. But, I see you can edit the mainspace. So, why not just add facts to articles from library sources? You can also create Cuba-related content. You may have stated what your access issues are somewhere, but I missed it. Can't you easily access the mainspace? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:43, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
By the way, I've also been plagued with issues. For over two years (approximately) all images were blocked at Wikipedia. Imagine articles with the broken image icon instead of pictures everywhere. Also, I experience blocks of time (weeks or months) where it takes a minute to load a page or it gets stopped completely. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:46, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I can access to main space but I cannot access Internet to find references and sources and information, and I won be able to do it unless I travel to another country. I don't like to be elated to Cuban articles (can't tell you why via Wikipedia), so I avoid doing that. See this, the part that says Miss Bono. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:21, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
I decided to stay, Anna. I don't like drama and I will concentrate on work and ignore the people who doesn't want me. Can I count on you in the future? Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:08, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad you're staying. I don't know anyone who doesn't want you here. As for editing, why not use the local newspapers and library books as sources for content you can add to Cuba-related articles? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:29, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Other people's opinions are only worth taking personally if they are praise. All else is background noise. If folk offer advice on working methods, do listen to that, understand it, and accept or reject it. Stand up proud and be determined to be a better and better editor each time you edit. I have, by the way, never looked at any of your edits. If they are good they will stand the test of time. If they can be improved then someone will improve them. Fiddle Faddle 12:32, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you both! :) Anna, I try to avoid working in Cuba-related articles (politics and stuff). I took a couple of picture of some places in La Habana Vieja (Old Havana), I will upload them and place them in the right place. I will make a research at the National Library (the only one who doesn't suck but it is a long way from my house, so it has to be on weekends). Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:51, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Ah, politics, okay. I understand. Well, maybe non-controversial things, or things that are favourable to the image of Cuba. Anyway, I do hope are able to continue, and I hope the Internet gets easier there. Your persistence is admirable. I think you are the bees knees! :) :) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:03, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, it really means a lot to me what you think. Really, thank you. Internet will get better but more expensive :P... Hopefully I will travel someday to see my aunt. Until then this is how the Main Page looks for me :) Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:13, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
PS:Ohh what does the expression 'the bees knees" mean? Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:14, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) It's an old expression from the U.S. meaning something / someone excellent or outstanding. (And, looking into its origin, it's not entirely clear how this expression started...) I, JethroBT drop me a line 15:35, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Jethro and thanks Anna for the compliment. Miss Bono [zootalk] 16:03, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Assistance needed

Hi, last month you said I could come to you for help/advice. An Admin "Qwyrxian" has reverted some deletions I made (which also contained a minor amount of text I added) on page Aam Aadmi Party. It is a new political party which relies heavily on electronic media (like Wikipedia) for publicity and self promotion. There has been lots of edit warring on the page well before I made my first edit there and a set of Admins (Sitush and Qwyrxian) have apparently agreed that Wikipedia Rules will not apply for this article. Admin Qwxyrian has left me a message on Talk:Aam Aadmi Party on these lines. The page was then put on protection level "Admin-only". I was trying to post the following message for Qwyrxian on that talk page, but the talk page also seems to be blocked for me.

"I don't see the "political battle" here. I suggest you are being excessively sensitive. What I do see is that I made a single edit to this article and had moved on to editing other articles with no real intention of returning to this page/article to edit (or edit war) on it. However, an embedded "AAP defender" stalks me and maliciously trashes my edits elsewhere just to provoke me. So as an involved Admin for this page please see the following "defenders of AAP" chain which you ought to have caught on your own (a) User:ThinkingYouth an obviously experienced editor from day 1 storms off Wikipedia on 8 July saying "Fuck off biased admins" (b) User:Tall.kanna (a sleeper a/c) gets reactivated on 17.July 2013 and carries on the disruptive editing from where User:Thinking Youth left off and stops editing on 03.Aug.2013 when the page is protected. On 4.Aug.2013 we have User:RouLong opening his account by vandalising the IAC page (IAC and AAP are at daggers drawn). We also have a series of POV pushing IP edits with MTNL IPs like 120.5x.xx.xx 59.xx the moment Tall.Kanna goes off who are also active on other AAP related pages. So as a Wikipedia Admin please set your house in order before talking down to uninvolved editors who are fed up with POV-pushing editors all over Wikipedia. You, me, Sitush and Jimbo work under the same set of rules, Right ?"

Is this likely to get me banned for speaking so bluntly to an Admin and/or breaking some Wikipedia policy I don't know of as yet (like I can only make my sockpuppetry suspicions on an Admin notice board)? Any suggestions ? TheWikiIndian (talk) 18:30, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Wow. What a conundrum. I'm not sure where the above indented paragraph is from. It's really confusing.
You can't get blocked for being blunt. If you are civil and don't edit war, you will likely be the last one standing, and the article will ultimately go your way. Be patient. Be smart.
When it comes to article content, we all have equal rights. When a page is protected so that only admins can edit it, admins aren't allowed to push their view on how the article should be. They must revert to the last stable version, which isn't always easy, and then not touch it. The version they select doesn't not mean they endorse that version. They are just trying to cool things down and force discussion to the talk pages.
The three editors you refer to might or might not be up to funny business. I have my views on that, but will keep those to myself for now.
Tips: Keep a cool head. Don't edit war. Don't stress. State your case at the article talk pages. Slay them with your reasoning. A quote from User:DGG: "I do not attempt to convert my opponents--I aim at converting their audience." Keep things very concise! Big paragraphs get skipped over. Be patient. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:16, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
OK Thanks everyone. How does one Move this talk ? Have I broken some rules ? TheWikiIndian (talk) 17:44, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
TheWikiIndian, I would strongly advise you not to remove content from Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal or related articles without first obtaining consensus on the relevant article talk pages. You have been removing much that was perfectly valid and you are sending out the wrong signals here, perhaps due to inexperience but certainly with the appearance of being a political POV pusher. There is nothing wrong with being bold but only if you are thus within the scope of our policies and guidelines. Yes, these articles have attracted some poor contributions from pro-AAP contributors but if you sift through the histories then you will see that the excesses have been challenged regularly by uninvolved people such as myself and Qwyrxian - people with a lot of experience here and who do not even have the right to vote in India. Bearing in mind the pro-AAP excesses that have been removed, my reinstatement of content removed by you would in fact tend to verify my neutrality. Discuss by all means but you have had a go at boldness and you went way, way too far. - Sitush (talk) 08:48, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Absolutely. The content of such articles is generally very controversial. Additions that lean one way or another will always be unstable. Keep it neutral. Pushing content in articles that is likely to be disputed never works in the end. The content is immediately or eventually removed. If you want content to stick, sort it out at the talk page. Then, later, if someone wants it out, you can cite the talk page discussion to help it remain. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:24, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi. I am addressing this to Anna, because Sitush is extremely "rude" and "nasty". a) As I mentioned above, Sitush and Qwyrxian have said that they decide which Wikipedia rules (like 3RR) selectively apply for this article. b) I have NOT "added" much material which I am attached to for this article like the pro-AAP lot have. c) I have "deleted" quite a bit of material which is blatant POV pushing by some pro-AAP editors. d) I don't see how cleaning up articles by applying Wikipedia's rules, norms and policies from 5 Pillars uniformly (ie. not selectively) is being "anti-AAP". d) It is clear from reading the AAP Talk Page that Sitush has ownership issues when it comes to his content on this page. He is uniformly "rude" and "nasty" when it comes to defending this page (see his exchanges with User:Guy Macon on 20-21 July 2013, and I can see some "good hand bad hand" stuff going on here as far as his claim of removing "excessive" pro-AAP text by "uninvolved editors" goes e) I object to "wholesale" reverts of my several edits made with application of mind accompanied with full edit summaries. f) for example, please see this diff [4], Yes the link works - but does the source directly link to "Agenda" as I clearly mentioned in my edit summary while removing the Agenda sub-section ? The link only leads back to the homepage which itself says absolutely nothing about AAP's "Agenda". g) I would love to discuss all this on the Article's Talk page, but for some reason I can edit every other non-admin page on Wikipedia except that one after it was admin protected (although I can edit the main article now) - very strange.TheWikiIndian (talk) 19:16, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Re: "See his exchanges with User:Guy Macon on 20-21 July 2013" here is that exchange: Talk:Aam Aadmi Party#Following Wikipedia's Policies ( WP:EW, WP:CONSENSUS and WP:BRD ) I believe that Anna will find it to be enlightening. --Guy Macon (talk) 20:04, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
To TheWikiIndian: Please tell me exactly which talk pages you cannot edit. That's strange. You should have access to all of them from what I see.
I absolutely loathe incivility, rudeness, or nastiness. There is no excuse for it. For some reason that behaviour along with sockpuppetry and other policies are tolerated. I guess they are now guidelines. I should change the categories at the bottom of Wikipedia:Civility.
So, how do you handle such behaviour? By being polite and civil. If you have a better way, please let me know.
What you just wrote above sounds very fair to me. The trouble is, Wikipedia is often very unfair. The article may be riddled with POV and removing it is a great service. But, policies and guidelines conflict. POV content isn't allowed, yet the last stable version must remain if there is a big dispute and then WP:BRD comes into play. Then everyone fights over whether something is POV or not. It's pretty messy. You or Sitush could be dead wrong or totally right. I don't know. I don't know the subject and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I just know that if you're civil, give well-reasoned arguments at talk, and are patient, that is your best shot, but no guarantee.
To Guy: Whoa, that's a long one. I really don't want to get involved or take sides, or, well, even read all of that. :) I skimmed it.
What I wrote above doesn't not mean I endorse Sitush's position. My "absolutely" is about getting consensus at talk. I am not taking sides here. Whether one's edits at those articles are rubbish or gold, there are sides who will love it, and those who will revert it. I am merely trying to help TheWikiIndian take the "convince them at the talk pages" approach. I just want to help him approach things in a way that will give him the best results. And as I said above, he may be removing POV and doing a world of good, but this is Wikipedia. If it's disputed, you can fight all day long and your efforts won't stick. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:53, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Yes, I'm not sure why you (WikiIndian)couldn't write on my talk page...I have had to semi-protect for short periods of time against IP vandals, but I haven't done so recently (and I don't think that should effect you, either). I checked the history, and I don't see an edit there by you, so it's not just that it got missed or deleted. Maybe some sort of technical failure.

Ah, wait, I see that you were unable to edit the article's talk page. Then, my guess is that you either composed it over a long period of time, and got a time-out error (which simply requires resubmission), or that there was an edit conflict, in which case you need to copy your message, go back to the talk page, and open up the editing window again. At this point, there is some discussion ongoing on the article's talk page, though some of it has wandered into a bit of incivility (perhaps unintentionally). I am happy to keep up the conversation there, as I think that the article still has quite a bit of room for improvement, you (WikiIndian) know of a lot of sources, so if you are willing to listen to what experienced editors have to say, there should be a space for compromise. I hope. Qwyrxian (talk) 03:05, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Your always patent and methodical approach in the face of chaos, is a constant reminder to take the high ground. You rock. Flat Out let's discuss it 13:14, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, my friend! Of course, the "high ground" is also a convenient place to be when raining down pianos and bank safes. This was the hard lesson learned by the troops of the legendary "Battle of the pancake-shaped soldiers". Interestingly, it was this battle that saw the end of the umbrella as a defensive weapon, and saw the development, by the corps of engineers, of the standard giant army spatula. My cat's breath smells like cat food. Flat Out let's discuss it
Cat breath smells like cat food and ordinary cat breath. That's quite bad. On that note, the fact that cats bury their business is the reason we haven't made them extinct. For if they didn't, the entire Earth would smell vaguely like cat's business. We would have figured out the cause and gotten rid of them all. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:45, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

So I saw that you edited my talk page! :D

I would like to apologize for aggravating you if I have. I hope you and I aren't enemies now.

I got a response from the people at the Map Workshop of Wikipedia when it came to the map request that I put in for a new map of the Sasanian Empire. They told me to start a new, calm and well thought out discussion there and try to reach a consensus with the other users and as such I started a new topic on there and in the title of the discussion I said "Relax! I am not here to edit war. I am just doing what the users at the ma workshop told me to do." Basically I am following their orders.

But that is not why I am here. I saw that you edited my user page and I truly would like to thank you for that. I have been having a very difficult time editing my user page myself and I could really use a hand. If you notice on my user page, I have been trying to make it to where it says that I am interested in paleontology, but so far I haven't managed to get it to do so lol. I am looking foward to creating great articles on Wikipedia. I haven't started on them because I haven't found any good sources for those images that do not have articles. Honestly I am kind of intimidated now since my first article had great, accurate and reliable sources for the topic that my article was about. But since the majority of the users voted against the article stating that it was a "Pure rumor mill" Future Perfect decided to delete it and close the discussion. This was of course what I expected what would happen to my first article however. Though it is because it was deleted that quickly that I am afraid that if I do start an article based on the light houses, castles and the portrait of that woman that they will be deleted quickly as well due to people seeing the sources as unreliable and inaccurate. :(

(Sorry for the wall of text.) I will try my best when it comes to creating those articles. I could really use a hand when it comes to building up my user page if you are interested. Regards and Cheers! :D Keeby101 (talk) 22:23, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

You didn't aggravate me.
All I did to edit your userpage was to ad an "=" to fix a talk page section heading.
You do seem to have problems with others when interacting. With due respect, you may be the common denominator. Please understand that we are here to help. Try not to interpret guidance as opposition. When the community has opposed you, it has been in response to you opposing the community.
As you told you, those articles at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images are all notable subjects, especially the species.
I'm afraid I don't get involved in helping design userpages. Consider focusing on the mainspace.
Best wishes and happy editing. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:32, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Just wanted to know your thoughts on a rather old topic.

This is a topic that I started when I was a brand new user on Wikipedia that got me into a lot of trouble later on. It's been awhile since I have reviewed this topic. I recently made a request on the Wikipedia Map Workshop for a new map of the Sasanian Empire and when I did so, I told them the entire story and they took a look at all of the discussions and debates on the talk page of the article including the most recent one that was started by me when I was a new user on Wikipedia. They then proceeded to tell me to do the following:

  • Start a new, calm, well thought out discussion on the article talk page for just this purpose, contribute your own position, and let other editors contribute theirs.
  • If you can achieve a proper consensus amongst editors as to exactly what this map should show, then link this request to that consensus.

So I did exactly as they asked. Here is the link to the new discussion:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Sasanian_Empire#Went_on_to_map_workshop_and_made_request_for_new_map.21_.28Relax.21_I.27m_not_here_to_edit_war.2C_I_just_want_to_share_to_everyone_what_the_Graphists_and_Cartographers_told_be_to_do_which_is_to_start_a_new.2C_calm_discussion_here.29_:.29.29

I went to Kathovo and shared this with him to. Hopefully he will like it and comment on the new discussion on the talk page of the article.

Please share your thoughts there as well. Regards and Cheers! :D Keeby101 (talk) 04:04, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm glad you're using the talk pages. I'll stay out of the discussion, as I know nothing about the subject. Best of luck. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:16, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Could you look at Wikipedia:AN#Regarding_Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations.2FVictor0209.2FArchive, and decide if any action is necessary? No admin has looked into this since the thread was opened. Thanks, Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 16:19, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Re:Your contributions

Yes obviously, but the source is always added too. And the sentences are no opinions but facts. It's just that some of them have to be paraphrased maybe. I tried to do that haven't done that for all articles. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 14:11, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

And you don't need to show them all to me. Please paraphrase them if you think it can't be written like this. I don't feel it's like that big a problem. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 14:15, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I got it. This is not helpful. I would be glad if you could rather help me in rewriting these sentences. I'll try to change them but find it very difficult to paraphrase them. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 14:29, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. Here are point form responses, in order, for clarity:
  • Please read Wikipedia:Copyright violations. This issue is not about my opinion. It is policy that is taken very seriously here.
  • Sourcing it doesn't not make close paraphrasing or straight copy pasting okay. Those sources are copyrighted. The content must be written entirely in your own words, from the sources.
  • I feel that it is my responsibility as a Wikipedian to reveal these incidents.
  • I would prefer that you fix the mistakes. I already spend lots of time finding them.
  • I presented them at your talk page so you can go into the articles and remove/rewrite the offending text.
  • You should indeed feel that it is a big problem. It's cause to indefinitely block a persisting editor. You do know that, don't you?
  • You're a good editor and Wikipedia doesn't want to lose you. Please use the list I presented and fix things up. Please don't copy paste, or even close paraphrase any more, okay? All will be forgiven and I won't have to spend an hour going through your edits again. That's something I would rather not have done.
Best wishes, and I look forward to seeing the copyrighted text removed from those articles. Thank you, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:33, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

How do I rewrite it so it's completely different? That is a very standard, neutral, encyclopedic sentence. I know about copyright violations but I feel you are little too pedantic here. If you really think that this can't be left like this, then please help me in rewriting this instead of removing it altogether, because that statement needs to be included in the biography. This absolutely does not help. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 13:20, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)You re-write by reading and understanding what the source says, then explaining it in your own words. It is not "being pedantic" to revert copyright violations. Please don't ask other editors to fix your mistakes when you are unwilling to listen to what they are saying and please do not use edit summaries to criticise other editors. Flat Out let's discuss it 13:50, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Being "standard, neutral, encyclopedic" isn't the issue. It's about copyrighted content. And what Flat Out says is right. We are under no obligation to fix copyrighted text. You, however, are under an obligation not to violate the policy. You have two choices for the future: 1) Write in your own words based on the sources 2) Don't add the content. That's pretty much it. Deciding that the article needs the content, so it's okay to violate policy, is not a choice. Please try to understand. You're a good editor and you provide valuable content. Please, just steer clear of any future copy pasting or close paraphrasing, okay? Please? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:29, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
I asked for help, how would you write it, for example, because I don't know what else to do. This is really frustrating. Whatever... Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 14:56, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Anna. I uploaded a few picts of the museum and organized the content (see the history of the page)... but I see it has a lack of conent in the sections and no references. Can you please, see if you find something relevant on the Internet. Thanks. Miss Bono [zootalk] 14:39, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Miss Bono. Nice pics!!! I'll take a look for content and sources.
So, it's great to see you adding images. Can you upload them to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard instead of Wikipedia? If not, that's okay.
I keep thinking of how you can contribute with your limited Internet access. What about arts and entertainment content, and photos? You have Cuban newspapers that cover that sort of thing. You don't need to get Internet newspapers as sources. You can just cite the physical newspaper in your hands. Just add the reference stating the newspaper, date, page, article title, etc. What do you think? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:51, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Oh, thanks... :) I cannot upload them to Commons, what I do (sometimes) is asking User:Quadell to copy them to Commons. I have a bunch of images I took in La Habana Vieja and I will upload them. I am pretty good with arts and entertainment content, I will create articles for the best actors we have (very notable). We have a site here with info about them but it doesn't have references, so that's a problem. We have Granma newspaper, Tribuna newspaper, Juventud Rebelde newspaper and Trabajadores newspaper. I will see if I can get something. Miss Bono [zootalk] 15:05, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Take a look at this File:El_Floridita.jpeg. It's very expensive for me but it's awesome. I took this photograph. I will upload all my picts and make a gallery for you to see them. Miss Bono [zootalk] 15:27, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Nice photo. :) What's expensive? Did you eat there? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:04, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

No, I didn't eat there or had a drink, as I said... too expensive. Maybe if Bono takes me lol. Miss Bono [zootalk] 14:58, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

New article

Hi Anna,

I created a new article yesterday. I translated it from a website we have here in Cuba. Rogelio Blaín. Can you please check the grammar and spelling and those tricky stuffs for me? Oh, and I'd appreciate your thoughts. I know it needs more info but I will have to make some researches. ZooTgirl [zootalk] 14:54, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

It's great! Consider writing to him for a photo. So, was this easy to organize? I mean, do you think this is a good way forward? If you can create product like that, it would be just fantastic. Local newspapers and websites as sources may turn out to be a huge resource and enable you to really improve Wikipedia a lot. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:04, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Now that is more difficult :P (about the picture) I'll see if I go to ICRT and see what I can get :D. By a product like that do you mean the article... in that case it is easy, just translation... There is a picture of Blaín in that website but it doesn't specify the copyright... I am working on my next article I call her the Cuban Oprah lol :) Miss Bono [zootalk] 15:03, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Regarding Chinese users and punctuation

I just noticed the little box of tips you added to Victor's talkpage; I'm thinking of whether or not we should come up with a standardized response if future cases occur, since this happens quite a lot. The thing with users from China is, by default there is no need to add spaces after punctuation when typing in Chinese using most Chinese input methods, however this is not the case for English, and I think many people from China don't understand this. For example, when Chinese people write

可是,他从来没有看过。这是为什么呢?没有人知道!

...there is no need to add spaces due to the punctuation marks being double-width, and because of this they develop a habit of typing English like this:

However,he never watched it.What could be the reason for this?Nobody knows!

Sometimes, they might even add double-width Unicode punctuation marks to English writing (.e.g. "Afterwards,he went to the store。"), and these glyphs are generally not accepted when used in English. What's your input on all of this? --benlisquareTCE 15:44, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

I think a standardized response would be great. Maybe even a bot could detect incidents and automatically post at the user's talk.
When Chinese people do it, it's understandable. But, the fact that they've been reading English for years and then don't pay attention to how their own typing appears is very puzzling. It may be a case of "Eh! Good enough. It's fine." :)
The number of editors whose native language is Chinese is tiny compared to editors from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc. This is where the vast majority of these incidents come from. I have no idea how teachers there respond when students hand in papers with this problem. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:49, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you kindly. Say, I know you like photos. Have you considered taking a few of your local area for commons? Good images are always needed, not just of places, but things too. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:36, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Interesting Facts about your user page & few questions

Do you know that I added you user page to my watchlist just for its appearance?

Did you ever land in trouble? I remember I did on 3 separate occasions, first with JamesBWatson regarding an Open IP block, then with Kww about non-free media policy (I was new then) and now this morning irked Dianna and someone other accidentally, don't really remember his/her name. While on the topic made a few friends also like Acalamari, NtheP, Lukeno, Widr, Dianna (this admin works really hard, everyone does but she required notation), Prattya Ghosh, Dwaipayanc, Pleasant1623(Now:Jionpedia), Titodutta & now you. The ones I mentioned here comprises a part of the complete list and don't know if the feelings mutual. regards Sohambanerjee1998 10:43, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello. Yes, of course I remember you. Nice to have you back here. About your article. It's very, very simple:
  • Read WP:42.
  • Go to google and google news and google news archives and search the name search "Leo Jee". Ignore matches for Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and blogs. Now, look only for media that discusses him in detail, like newspaper write-ups and magazine articles.
  • Now, what was the result of the search:
  • If the answer is yes, several, then the article has a chance. (Paste the urls here to show me.)
  • If the answer is no, but he's really popular and should have an article, then there's zero chance.
Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:31, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Alex,
Most of those just mention his name once, or don't discuss him in any detail. Out of all of those, these seem to have some chance of being okay (I may have missed one due to being unable to connect to the website):
They are in Russian or some other language that I can't read, so I'm not sure if they discuss him in detail. Also, others may consider those sources unreliable.
Considering that the article was debated here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Leo Jee and the result was delete, and that you created it three times, and you had copy pasted the content from Facebook, I would suggest the following: Go here Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Use the eight references listed above. Write the article in your own words based on the sources (no Facebook copy paste). Allow the reviewers to decide. That's the best plan. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:47, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Request for some hand holding

Hey, I need some advice regarding image issues again - I still have yet to upload a single image as I am worried I haven't fully understood the relevant policies. I just wrote the article about Samira bint Mohamed Al-Moosa, Oman's ambassador to UNESCO, and on the net I have found only two images: one which is a very clear and good quality head shot from UNESCO's website, and another from Oman's Ministry of Education website which isn't really that clear. The second really isn't a good representation of the subject; do you think the first could be used under the Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline? There seems to be no free equivalent, which I think would make use of the image acceptable per WP:NFCCP but I am not 100% sure. MezzoMezzo (talk) 11:04, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

I'd have to say no because the policy states "Could the subject be adequately conveyed by properly sourced text without using the non-free content at all?" What does she do for a living? She uses her brain, so how is an image helpful? If she were the tallest woman on Earth, I could see the need for a pic. Stalkers may say otherwise, but I'd write a letter to her asking for an image instead. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:16, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
This may be a bit technical, but I have to agree with Anna, but for a different reason. "Fair Use" is for when no other image is available. This is the case with a logo of an organization (we could question whether that's relevant to the organization, but hey...), or a painting (when the wikipedia article is about the painting) etc. Whatever you do, it's clearly impossible to depict that without infringing copyright, except under a fair use rationale. However, with living persons, the assumption is always that a free version might be available, as any person showing up at a press conference etc may take their own picture, see this more specific policy pate: "Pictures of people still alive, groups still active, and buildings still standing; provided that taking a new free picture as a replacement (which is almost always considered possible) would serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free image". Anna's advise to ask for a picture is -as always- good. You need to specify in your request that the image will be availabe on a commercial basis (as wikipedia pictures; except fair use) may be used by anyone for any purpose under our own copyright policy... L.tak (talk) 16:39, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. Good guidance! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:48, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
MezzoMezzo: Search "dear," here: User:Anna Frodesiak/Junkbox 1 for letters and the permission form, or make your own letter and copy paste the form here: User:Anna Frodesiak/OTRS
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:48, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
That was some very helpful advice guys, thanks a lot. I will keep the permission letter in mind, though given that the subject isn't quite the tallest woman in the world, I can see how an image wouldn't be particularly helpful.
Here's a random question, since I have your (and one stalker's) attention. I have tons of photos from vacations which include locations without me or anyone else in the shot. If I upload those pictures, let's say a few I have of obscure highways in the American south, can those be used in the relevant articles if they are accurate depictions of the subject, given that it's my own original work? MezzoMezzo (talk) 03:45, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
((talk page stalker)2) I would suggest that you post a proposal to the article‘s Talk page before inserting an image of yours, for neutral opinions on its quality & suitability, and to avoid any appearance of self-promotion or COI. I’m no expert in the OR policy or its implications for images, but ISTM that a photo that‘s taken from a publicly accessible site, such that anyone else might have taken it, and properly documented (either in metadata or the description page) should be fine.—Odysseus1479 05:47, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
  • MezzoMezzo, that's a great idea; you might run into some places where relevance is disputed, but overall if not many pictures are available, addition is appreciated. If you upload to commons.wikimedia.org, the image is not just available in the English wikipedia, but also for all other 'pedias.
  • Odysseus, that's unfortunately just not how it works. Having something publicly available, does not mean the copyright is also yielded. And although pictures are copied all over the net, it is often not allowed. There are notable exceptions where the content is available for use, as is a ll info of the US government and the Dutch government. The best is to always look at the copyright statement and determine if it falls within wikipedia's criteria as provided in the links above… L.tak (talk) 22:18, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Regarding "...tons of photos from vacations...", yes! Upload them, preferably to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard ! If you own them, they're probably fair game. Use common sense regarding copyrights.
If it's a photo where the main component is a company logo, then it's not okay. If the logo is visible somewhere in the shot as a minor component, it's fine.
A public place or public thing is usually fine.
I uploaded pictures of dolls. Turns out that's copyrighted as 3D art. Sound strange? Think of a 3D Mickey Mouse doll. Totally copyrighted.
Think from the point of view of the owner of something in the shot, and how upset you'd be, and that usually matches the law. When in doubt, ask first.
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:17, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
You guys are awesome, like Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi. I'm going to take a look at that Wikimedia Commons link and really think about dumping my photos in there...I don't have pictures of logos, mostly nature on the sides of highways and large shots of neighborhoods and stuff. This is really cool.
By the way, if I could ask one more question and then I'll leave everyone to it...take a look at the article on al-Farahidi. See that? It looked like a big pile of suck before I attacked that thing. But now here's a problem: I found an image on Arabic Wikipedia of a statue of the subject, taken by an editor over there. It's his own work which he released to the site, but he also watermarked his name on it in English. Is there a way I can play around with the number of pixels to sort of...not have his name in it? It might interfere with future nominations for GA status, once I hit that thing with two more academic sources I got from Amazon. MezzoMezzo (talk) 10:38, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Removal of watermarks—especially promotional ones—is routinely requested & done at WP:GL/P. It’s a senseless waste of effort if a clean image of equal quality is available, though; I’d try contacting the uploader first and see if he or she’d be willing to replace it with an original, citing the Commons policy on images with watermarks. Assuming that editor and I had a language in common, that is … (If the file is hosted at ar.WP, that’s another kettle of fish; I have no idea what their policy is.)
@L.tak: I thought we were talking about landscapes photographed by the uploader; how would copyright considerations come into play regarding an “own work“ picture of a highway? Buildings, statues, & the like can be a violation, sure (in places without “freedom of panorama“), but I was assuming the content itself would be free. My mention of public access was in the context of article-space here and WP:OR, not of eligibility for uploading to Commons—which I tried to cover with “properly documented”.—Odysseus1479 02:51, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
oops, sorry, I misread… The "it's publicly available, so it must be free for any use" is a very common misconception, but irrelevant in the context of neutrality of sources indeed…. Anyway, I have already removed the most visible part of the watermark (there might be more), but misplaced my comment here about that…. L.tak (talk)

Two topics that I need to address.

Hope I am not bothering you with any of this, but for weeks I have been debating on whether I should launch this article or not: List of species that possibly went extinct in the 16th century, given that Future Perfect Sunrise deleted my first article:List of species rumored/believed to still be alive to which I still don't know why he deleted it so apruptly. I remember you telling me that I first need to fill up the 16th century section of Timeline of Extinctions to the point where it would need an article of it's own. However, even if I were to do that, by the time it is so full to where I have to create this: List of species that possibly went extinct in the 16th century, I am afraid that it will be deleted in a short period of time just like the last one. :(

On regards to the other topic, I have gone to the help pages and questions pages that are linked at the top of my talk page, but tbh they do not fit the criteria of what I am trying to ask as they are mainly for users who have technical issues.

I will not bother you about this subject again as you said that you wanted to stay out of it, but I would like your advice on the way I have handled it so far. Recently the new discussion on the Sasanian Empire talk page has gone in a good direction: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Sasanian_Empire#Recommendations_to_Map_workshop_team . If you go on to the talk page, you will see that I made a proposal. I was just wondering if this is a good idea or not? Given that there haven't been many responses. :) Keeby101 (talk) 04:58, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I really don't know what to say. I just don't know enough about extinctions or the Sasanian Empire. That's why I pointed you toward the relevant project pages. The good folks there will guide you. Best wishes and good luck. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:37, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh my.. you're right. I should have gone to the WikiProject pages in the first place to address this if I wanted to get more responses. I feel absolutely mortified that I didn't before. Regards. Keeby101 (talk) 14:14, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
No worries at all. It's just that they know best. At project talk pages, you have a group dedicated to that particular subject all in one place. They can give you plenty of guidance. Consider asking them what the project needs and how you can help. That ought to work out better than coming up with an idea and pitching it. Usually at project main pages, there is a list of ways to help too. Best wishes. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:18, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

I'm really sorry

That I missed your RfA - I would have obviously supported you. I'm very pleased to discover you are an Administrator! Dougweller (talk) 10:10, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey Anna why are you reverting my edits on your talk page

Please don't its a bit insulting. I said sorry twice since I thought I may have mistakely upsetted you. Sohambanerjee1998 10:42, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Please Soham, don't take it personal. Maybe Anna doesn't want to talk about it. Just drop the matter. Consider this as a closed case. Ok? Thank you very much. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:10, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Bono I dropped the case a long ago but this behaviour upsetted me alot. Why do you revert a person when he's saying sorry. Vandalism sometimes leaves a deep scar and this scar was so deep that I fell into it too. I truly want Anna to ignore this Sock and move on with her truly exceptional adminship qualities. Sohambanerjee1998 12:13, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
I know that you had good intentions Soham, but have you think that maybe Anna doesn't want to recall that incident or talk about it. I know she appreciates your concern, but won't tell you. I appreciate your concern too because, everytime that guy (the vandal) appears it makes me very upset and sad. So, again... don't take Anna's action as personal, she is a great person and friend and Wikipedian, but she is also a very reserved person. Thanks. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:19, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Bono, being a cancer (zodiac) I am also too emotional therefore I think I understand her in this matter. So I'll leave it on the dust I guess. Hope she does the same. Sohambanerjee1998 12:22, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Bono I owe you one. Your reply resuscitated me. Sohambanerjee1998 12:24, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
No, problem Soham. I am sure she will. So, let's enjoy this Beautiful Day and forget this matter. We have to built an encyclopedia... Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:27, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
PS: Can you call me Miss Bono instead of just Bono... there might be confusions. :) Thanks Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:28, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Miss Bono, We sure have to. Sohambanerjee1998 12:32, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Yep. See you areound, pal. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:33, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
I will be looking forward to it as well, Dost (means friend in Hindi). Sohambanerjee1998 12:36, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, folks. Please, let's drop it. No apologies needed. No need for further posts here about this. It's just a bit of vandalism and trying to out someone I know. It's not a huge thing. Let's get on with building the encyclopedia. We all have better things to do. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:50, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

You are not a fool. Don't be sorry at all. I replied to your email ages ago saying everything is fine and dandy. A quote from the email that you will see: "...Anyway, thank you for being such a good friend. You are wonderful and your support is so nice..." Sometimes I wonder if you're getting my emails. Please let me know.
Anyway, when it comes to drama and responding to things that aren't related to being constructive, I tend to not want to be part of it, especially at my talk page. I usually seek to drop such issues and move on. I don't mind some chit chat here and there, though. There's nothing terrible about a bit of that so long as it doesn't turn into facebook. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:20, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Ohh, I told you I am not able to check my email until mid September. Anyways! I am here for you if you need me. You can count on me! :) Miss Bono [zootalk] 15:36, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Arabic text on user page

I had been wondering whether text in Arabic on a user page was permitted. (We know that text in article space in the English Wikipedia should be in English, which is written in the Roman alphabet.) I see that you deleted it as being an attack, so that you either read it or machine-translated it. Thank you. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:23, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello there. Yes, I machine translated it and it seemed to violate WP:UP#POLEMIC. I didn't remove it because it was not English. I don't know of any policy about that. Do you think I made the right call? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:26, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Assuming the user page was similar to the material added to the talk page for the Main Page, you definitely made the right call. Innocuous user page material in other languages doesn't bother me on user pages, but I do find signatures in non-Roman alphabets a bit disruptive. It's just me, perhaps. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:41, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
I totally agree about the userpages. In this case, the user made no constructive edits and that wall of text was really an attack. If it's an established editor who has a few lines in some other language, no big deal.
As for usernames, a few strange characters isn't the end of the world. What drives me nuts is an entirely different name in English from the actual username. I have no idea why that is allowed. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:47, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

People in Permaculture

thanks for that. I am just trying to learn how to do all this, and I found some difficulties. for example in "permaculture" one person seems to guard it as if he owns it and had deleted some changes. but i dont know what. For example in copyright etc there were new developments where previously bill mollison had used a train the trainer programme and trained people like april sampson kelly in 1993 and gave certificates and the right to train and use the word permaculture., but his new wife lisa deleted the list of "teachers of permaculture" (in about 2010) and now Bill Mollison only certifies people who pay to get a PDC on his site.. now I dont intend saying all that, but the changes to the certified system is pertinent to the us e of the word permaculture, and should be mentioned. currently april sampson kelly is the only one who has copied and kept that list and displays it on her website at www.permaculturevisions.com.

so you can see why i would object to one individual 'safeguarding" the page and stopping changes.

I also tried to make a new page and went through the wizard, but got lost. All I wanted to do was create a page with a template. is there a template somewhere? If i had a template i could have made the people in Permaculture layout to meet requirements. I realise it is my own ignorance, but any link or help would be appreciated. I do have sight problems so reading page after page is not easy. thanks for listening.. permaculture design.Permaculture design (talk) 00:27, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello, my friend. Your questions are good and concerns valid.
  • Being new at Wikipedia: It's daunting for all of us at the beginning. It will get easier.
  • Guarding articles: We all watch over articles to help ensure changes are constructive, but sometimes there are issues of ownership (Wikipedia:Ownership of articles). I recommend using the article talk pages to encourage others to weigh-in. That can really help.
  • Wizards: Nope. I don't trust them. They are a bit too magical for me. Consider assembling the article in a sandbox. I can have a look at it and move it to the mainspace for you when it's ready.
  • Templates: Yes, there are! They are called "articles". :) Simply click edit at any similar article and copy paste it to a notepad on your computer. There, you can swap in any information you like. But, to make an article, you really just need content and references. Others come along and add other things.
  • References: They go like this:
Rabbits are cute.<ref>http://www.about-rabbits.com</ref>
They eat carrots.<ref>http://www.rabbit-diet-info.org</ref>
Paste this at the bottom of the article:
==References==
{{reflist}}
Click save and all the references will automatically get listed at the bottom. Easy peasy.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I am here to help. Always feel welcome at Wikipedia and be bold in your editing. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:01, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi there Permaculture. I looked at the Permaculture page and it looks like you need a lot of help in getting started in your editing. If you would leave a note on that talk page perhaps I could help you understand how to go about getting your edits into the article. Let me know... Gandydancer (talk) 01:43, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Definitely. This song is currently at #12 on the UK Singles Chart and thus passes WP:NSONG criterion #1. I am bitterly disappointed at all three editors who tagged the page for speedy deletion. Please restore.--Launchballer 08:52, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

I thought it was a good call, but maybe I've erred. If it deserves to be an article, then it will be again. Please understand also that it remained for four days without any references and was a one sentence stub. So, it's not the end of the world that a single sentence doesn't exist in the mainspace for a day. Please don't be upset. I'm so sorry.
The guideline says that the three factors only suggest that it may be notable and that a standalone article still ought to satisfy the criteria: ranked on sales charts, won one or more awards or honors, and been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands, or groups.
I posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Songs#Trouble (Neon Jungle song) asking them to weigh-in here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:18, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
I just restored it. Please accept my humblest apologies. I was acting in good faith. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:21, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
I'm sure you were, and thank you. Apology accepted. I've had it before when some new page patroller doesn't know the notability guidelines and hastily tags one of my articles for deletion when it does pass the guidelines (see TSD (band), it passes WP:MUSICBIO criterion #2), so it does wind me up.--Launchballer 11:18, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm glad we're okay. I know it can feel lousy to have something you're working on get deleted. Oh, and I was typing fast because I was just out the door, but I meant to say notable enough to have a standalone. Anyhow, for my stubs, I often let the deciding factor on whether or not a standalone should exist be over what serves visitors best rather than what the guidelines say. Guidelines say any species article is inherently notable (I think they do :) ) but that doesn't mean a zillion one-liner stubs is better than a genus article listing them. I didn't always think that way. Anyway, seeing a single sentence song for 4 days made me think that way. But it's nice to see that all the bubbubb has now resulted in an article that's looking standalone-worthy. Very best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:55, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Following a request at WP:SONGS. There is a reasonable claim that #12 or whatever in a national chart makes the song notable, but the important part of WP:NSONGS says, Notability aside, a standalone article is only appropriate when there is enough material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album. (my bold). All single line song entries should be merged. That merely leaves a question of timing... I have no problem with it remaining a few more months, but Launchballer should appreciate the difference between "Article" and "discography" entry. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 12:50, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
It needs lots of expansion. Let me see if I can help... → Lil-℧niquԐ 1 - { Talk } - 15:35, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Requesting page move from my sandbox to Harry Styles

Hey Anna, The Harry Styles draft is up here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Katcalifornia/sandbox and ready to be moved, if you could do that. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katcalifornia (talkcontribs) 07:25, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Kat! Cool username. :) This is a bit of a tricky one because there was an WP:AFD, twice, that resulted in the band members redirecting to the main article. But, it's been a year and Harry Styles may very easily now be notable enough for a standalone article. I'm a new administrator and so am not sure if this should go to Deletion Review. Maybe a talk page stalker can help with this and make the call. That way I can learn. Sorry I can't help right now. Please be patient and all will be resolved. Thanks.

Agreed. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:02, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
I've gone ahead; see Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2013 September 11#Harry Styles. Huon (talk) 00:07, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Well done. Thank you. I'm interested to see the outcome. I have nothing to offer there. I can see a case for an accept or decline. I'll watch and learn. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:12, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Zanjeer edit

Yes Anna, I did remove quite a bit and made it short and concise. Do you think anyone would even be remotely interested in the production, filming and casting history of a massive flop? In fact, nobody bothered to include the soundtrack reviews because it was not worth it.

Here is article on another disaster- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Himmatwala_%282013_film%29 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanavla Rai (talkcontribs) 10:18, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. The movie's lack of success should not be a reason to deletion sections. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:32, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Sanavla Anna's correct for example look at Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!, its a flop too but I worked hard on it, irrespective of the fact whether it was successful or not. Not adding info is one thing but deleting it just because its a flop is plain discrimination. Sohambanerjee1998 16:42, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Exactly. Look at Jaws: The Revenge. Now that was a real stinker and look at the size of the article. That movie was just.... I mean there are no words for it. It was just..... what were they thinking??? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:42, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

I've been bold and undone your last edit to your user page - adding those 'categories' put you into the categories for unblocking and copyvio! You'll probably have to nowiki them somehow to list them passively. (Don't ask me how...) Peridon (talk) 10:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
