...I don't think the move was necessary

[edit]

The notable sources were mainly covering Michelle. Julia really just needed some degree of mention in that scope. We have a few articles like that as is. Kung Fu Man (talk) 19:53, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: there wasn't a move. You just full on made a new article, and a WP:COATRACK at that.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:27, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I performed the merged which only covers the relevant info about the characters. Also, they were meant to be merged. Kazama16 (talk) 20:34, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Merged into Michelle's article, Kazama. If you notice at no point was there a suggestion to merge into a joint title article, nor was there an indication equal notability. Even the post-AfD instructions say to merge it into it. And even then...this is definitely not the way to go about it.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:39, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but this was definitely a way to go. The purpose was still the same. But maybe the point of views are different. The trivial facts on Michelle article really speaks a lot to me that no one really cared nor acknowledge it but when someone like me touches it. I became the criminal. I should not have wasted my time again here on this site but the enthusiasm is what brings me here. This site is definitely not built for simple-minded people like me. I tried to stay away from it but just couldn't help it. Thanks for your time. Kazama16 (talk) 20:55, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody's saying that, but there's a method to things too. You do good editing, you're just kinda leaping in too hard. And just because another article is rough and needs an overhaul doesn't mean it isn't notable, hell we're still cleaning up years worth of articles on here. But for example something like this you'd a) make sure everyone was on the same page and then b) move the article over to retain edit history.
Thing is too you want to avoid a Coatrack article: if you put both under the same banner, people are going to expect both are equally discussed. But if you have a situation where one is notable and the other gets more trivial reception, you're just asking for the thing to get merged later on (see a lot of the instances of Pokemon articles in that boat).--Kung Fu Man (talk) 21:04, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you suggest a rename? Kazama16 (talk) 23:07, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would nuke this, and then just work the information in as needed to Michelle's article; like Julia's character isn't very complex, and as is Michelle's needs to be chopped down. But the article would have a stronger end result. Look at say Jeanette Voerman for how I approached two characters in a linked subject if that helps.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 23:23, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's a great idea! Kazama16 (talk) 23:25, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kung Fu Man wonderful you nuked this article before merging Julia's information to Michelle's article 🔥🔥🔥 Kazama16 (talk) 06:00, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I redirected it, everything's still in the article history if you need to retrieve it. Just thought this might cause some confusion being active at the same time after banners got added to it.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 06:14, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I performed some clean up on Michelle's article. Want to share thoughts? Kazama16 (talk) 11:46, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I feel it's a good start, though I would omit the second image: the two have such a similar design the reader doesn't really need an additional illustration to establish that. I can do some dev research possibly myself too to help flesh things out, I'm pretty sure she has some concept art and design notes we can draw from to flesh out development. Right now though I have to contend with my day job XD--Kung Fu Man (talk) 11:52, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kazama16 The more I work on this, the more a joint article feels more feasible, especially since Julia has *a lot more dev info*. I expected it to be the other way around, to be frank. That said, we should request a histmerge of the Michelle Chang article into this one to maintain that, and build from there. What do you think?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:38, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I think a joint article would be a better decision. Kazama16 (talk) 15:01, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ferret can you help on this? Kazama16 (talk) 19:03, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kazama16 What are you asking me to help with? I do not have any interest in this topic from a content view. -- ferret (talk) 19:22, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I should have been more specific. Actually I was asking for histmerge of Michelle Chang (Tekken) into this article as Kung Fu Man mentioned above. Kazama16 (talk) 19:51, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That looks pretty non-trivial to do and I think you need a really strong consensus and full merge/RM discussion. -- ferret (talk) 20:38, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I'll get a move discussion going.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:55, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
