Dorothy Olsen FAC

About 5 years ago, I started Dorothy Olsen (I don't remember if this was a WIR project or not). Olsen was a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots, a group of women civilian pilots flying ferry and training missions for the US military during World War II. It's a FA candidate now. Please take a look and leave comments on the review page, thanks. RoySmith (talk) 14:01, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Mary Alice "Micky" Dwyer-Dobbin

Mary's bio is missing a husband. She was also married to Walter Edward Brunty in 1980 in Baton Rouge, LA. They divorced Aug 1991. Then she went back to NY and remarried Leon. There are a lot of newspaper articles about them in LA. A shariff and a mortgage company were trying to find in her 1993. I have her in my tree in Ancestry. 2600:1702:3650:CCC0:B894:858E:E669:7B04 (talk) 03:08, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Women's month categorization drive

Hello. In honor of women's month, there is a categorization drive. You can help populating the Category:Women's firsts, which would be appreciated. Special attention is needed in the categories with only one or very few entries. Sincerely, --Thinker78 (talk) 05:16, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Just created two articles in scope with helping women's presence in Wikipedia

Hello, I just created to articles, but has tags on them. Perhaps someone could take a look at them, other than myself (since I created them). The one with the categorization tag, I don't know how to put or make a categorization in code for an article page.

Brenda Cárdenas Thomae <-- This one has a tag that it needs revision on grammar and tone.

Chimalxochitl II <-- This one has a tag that it needs categorization

Maybe interesting? - Geomapped Femicide in Ireland 1922 - 2022

Dear WikiProject Women editors, I came across this generated map of Femicides occurring in Ireland between 1922 - 2022 (with References) in one of my nightly Reddit doomscrolls. I thought it may be of use or interest to your project or someone within your network. I also suggested to the original poster to consider using Wikidata or even a Wikibase instance to map and enrich their current data. Link to Google Map and Reddit Original post. I hope it is useful to you, if not then please disregard. Kind regards, Danny Benjafield (WMDE) Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 14:45, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to a Discussion

Hello everyone,

I wanted to reach out to all the participants of this project to let you know about a recent discussion I've initiated regarding the inclusion (or more accurately, exclusion) of women's sports in the "In the News" section of the front page. Given your active involvement in discussions about women's articles, I warmly invite each of you to join the conversation and share your valuable insights on this matter. Your perspectives are crucial in shaping a more inclusive and representative platform. Thank you for your contributions.

I have nominated J. K. Rowling for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" in regards to the article's featured status. Kathleen Hicks

Hello, I am hoping to find an editor willing to review a change I've proposed for the article about Kathleen Hicks, current U.S. deputy secretary of defense. Her article is out-of-date and incomplete in a few ways, and I currently have an open request to update information about her board roles. I have a COI with her as a topic, since I'm working directly with her family. If anyone is willing to review the request and consider implementing it, I would be grateful. age limits?

Pardon my pedantry, but does WikiProject Women limit itself to covering topics about adult women, or is it concerned with all ages? I ask re: this tagging of the article disappearance of Pauline Picard. Thanks, all, — Fourthords | =Λ= | 16:29, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Interesting. The category Category:Girls specifically says that it is not used for biographical articles, and although we have a category for Category:Women centenarians we do not have a corresponding category for Category:Women who died in childhood. I suppose the only notable ones are likely to be: victims of crime like this one, child actors/musicians/gymnasts who achieved notability and died before adulthood, princesses etc dying young and still deemed significant enough for an article.
But to reply to @Fourthords:, I would think that even a female toddler would come within the scope of this Wikiproject. "... and girls" can be assumed. But others may have other ideas! (And I've added this Pauline Picard to Picard (name) while looking into her.) PamD 19:05, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Perhaps someone from WP:WOMEN could take a look at Mariapaola D'Imperio. The subject seems to meet WP:NACADEMIC, but the subject has also recently edited the article. Edits to Sukhinder Singh Cassidy

I've made a request for edits at Sukhinder Singh Cassidy that may interest members of WikiProject Women. The page is quite out of date so it would be great to bring it up to date. I'm an employee of Xero so I have a conflict of interest. Is anyone able to take a look please? Thank you JT at Xero (talk) 02:10, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Please see...

the discussion, here, regarding rejections of a stub I created for Jennifer Klein, the Director of the White House Gender Policy Council. I am beside myself, and conclude this is just a waste of professional time. I conclude that there are biases, either against IP editor submissions, or against people in Klein's sort of position, otherwise just bias based in too little time applied in consideration of matters before WP AfC participants. I will not contribute anything further to this. If someone wants this draft to see article space, someone else will have to argue it through. The rough-out of my argument regarding notabilty appears here. A former prof, and a retired, registered WP editor (revisiting the reasons why they retired). 98.206.30.195 (talk) 05:21, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

I'd begun looking at your draft but then noticed that around the same time someone else created an article Jennifer Klein (public official) which is in the article main space. If there's anything from your article you think should be included I'd add it there. Nnev66 (talk) 23:07, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

Afsaneh Salari

Could someone from this WikiProject take a look at Afsaneh Salari and assess it per WP:BIO? The article was originally submitted as a draft to WP:AfC, but was declined. The creator then moved essentially the same declined version to the mainspace themselves, but it was draftied for the reasons given at User talk:Mr.izadpanah#Draftification of Afsaneh Salari. The creator then moved it back to the mainspace. I asked an administrator who posts at WT:AFC about this at User talk:Primefac#Afsaneh Salari and it was suggested that WP:AfD would need to be next step if the subject doesn't meet WP:N. WP:BEFORE doing that, I'd thought I see whether anyone else feels this WP:NEXISTS and just needs better sourcing (perhaps even sources not in English). -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:16, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
