[R]egarding your edit on Bharat Ratna. The award was announced in 2014 but handed over in 2015. Is it not apt? Mail2nith (talk) 09:31, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Mail2nith:No. It is not. The award may be presented even later than a year so it cannot be considered as the awarded year. - Vivvt (Talk) 12:23, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Why did you revert the changes I have done to Bharat Ratna .The images are from commons .Krishna Chaitanya Velaga Talk 13:48, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Kannathil Muthamittaal - Rahman's National Award
'Score' technically means the 'background score' of a movie. Rahman won the National Award for the songs in Kannathil Muthamittaal. Not the score! 'National Award For Best Background Score' is another category. He did not win it for the 'SCORE and SOUNDTRACK' as you claim.
Don't use/mix up terminologies without knowing their real meanings. Kindly read edit summaries before those hasty reverts. You are doing an interesting work handling Satyajit Ray's pages. Please do show the same maturity with other articles too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ManiRatnamAvargal (talk • contribs) 07:14, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
- Well spoken ManiRatnamAvargal! In fact, many foreigners (non Indians) also make the same confusion around between soundtrack and score. I guess that's because musical films are rare in Hollywood, though their films do have BGMs sold on CD's. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:44, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
- @ManiRatnamAvargal: Its good to see that you mentioned the difference between "score" and "soundtrack" but incidentally, I already know that but I myself dont give away the National Awards. However, its sad that you reverted the change without reading the source provided. Bigger edit summaries do not weigh over a single reference provided. Just for you to know, the source mentions "Rajat Kamal and cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- to the Music Director (songs and background score) A.R.Rahman". Please read the source and revert the change by yourself, else I would do that myself after 2 days. - Vivvt (Talk) 11:48, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

DYK for List of awards and nominations received by Satyajit Ray
On 2 July 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article List of awards and nominations received by Satyajit Ray, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray was awarded both India's highest civilian award and France's highest decoration? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/List of awards and nominations received by Satyajit Ray. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Hi. Hope you're well. I didn't want to clutter the FLC with this reply. The infobox should specify "awards and nominations" not "wins and nominations". Some awards are given with no previous nomination for example to my knowledge, for the National Film Awards no one is announced by the jury as a nominee they only specify award winners. Other awards such as the Oscars/Academy Awards announce nominees and then one of the films wins by beating the other nominees.
For each of the films, go through and figure out which awards require no previous nomination and which don't then add them to the infobox count for each film. Example: Rabindranath Tagore won three National Film Awards so it's added to the table as 3 awards and 0 nominations as National Film Awards don't have formal nominees. Devi was nominated for Palme D'Or (1 nomination, 0 award) but won National Film Award (1 award, 0 nomination) giving 1 nomination, and 1 award. Both of these are correct in the table but others are not. Please let me know if it wasn't clear. Cowlibob (talk) 14:34, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob: Thanks for the detailed reply. Does it make sense to keep only awards and remove nominations, just to avoid confusion? - Vivvt (Talk) 06:51, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- Unfortunately the standard format for these lists is "award and nominations" as nominations themselves can be considered something special. You could add a note to the infobox clarifying that certain awards do not have prior nominations which would explain to the reader why the numbers don't match up in certain cases. Cowlibob (talk) 21:17, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob: I would add a note to explain that. Just being curious, can you give me an example where its incorrectly noted? That would really help me understand the context.
- Also, on the other hand, can you please provide your comments on FLC? Apologies that I am asking for this favor on my talk page. - Vivvt (Talk) 16:43, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- If we take the example of Aparajito. It is currently listed as 9 awards and 1 nomination. Bodil awards have prior nominations so should be 1 nomination, 1 award. BAFTA is 1 nomination, no award. San Francisco has prior nominations so 2 nominations and 2 awards. On quick glance, I don't know if the others have prior nominations but you can see my count is already 4 nominations compared to the 1 nomination in the table. So already the numbers don't match even without the other awards for the film being taken into account. I'm unfortunately going on holiday tomorrow so won't be able to leave comments. I'd probably recommend storing a copy on your sandbox and make the fixes on there before editing the main article just to make sure the numbers are correct before you transfer it over. Cowlibob (talk) 20:28, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob: Can you please take a look here? - Vivvt (Talk) 06:18, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'm currently checking this. Meanwhile, you should edit the lead to satisfy the other main issue highlighted by Vensatry about the second paragraph. The only films named in the lead are the Apu trilogy which makes it look as though only those films are notable. You should mention others as he has won very many National Film awards. At the least try to discuss the ones which won the most notable awards such as National Film Awards. The structure of the lead should be something like this list List of awards and nominations received by Vidya Balan or List of awards and nominations received by Laurence Olivier. Para 1= summary of film awards, Para 2=talk about films that won major awards that he directed in chronological order, Para 3=films that he contributed to in other ways Para 4=honors he received e.g. the Bharat Ratna, Academy Honorary Award. Cowlibob (talk) 07:31, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- Okay numbers seem correct now on sandbox. Cowlibob (talk) 08:36, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

@Cowlibob: Thanks for the correction. Let me check for the notable films. The problem is, almost all of his films, except documentaries and short films, received universal acclaim. However, he is still known for Pather Panchali and Apu Trilogy than any other his films. So it would be tough that way. - Vivvt (Talk) 14:32, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob: I've made changes to the lead. Can you please check? - Vivvt (Talk) 19:07, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
- In regards to Vensatry's latest comment on awards and nominations, you could change it so that each award win = a nomination as he has suggested but leave a note specifying e.g. "Certain awarding bodies do not publically announce nominees. For simplification and to avoid errors each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination." At least this way, if we assume each award had a prior nomination then we avoid making an error in not assigning a nomination because we made a mistake or that awarding bodies don't publicly announce the nomination. Rather than see it lose its FL status, it would be great to see it retain it, and become better than before. You doing anything for that? Kailash29792 (talk) 04:21, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. Very much. I am working with Birdienest81 to get this corrected. - Vivvt (Talk) 10:36, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your concern, Kailash29792. We're working hard to help saving this list from being demoted. I said that I hope to have this list done (or at least almost done) by October 18. Vivvt, is it possible for you to insert another column for the ceremony dates/date of award for each award similar to List of accolades received by Gravity (film) and also make a infobox summarizing the total awards won and nominated? I'm honestly not good at formatting tables, and I apprehend that I would probably mess up the table if I attempted to. If not I could contact Frankie or Cowlibob for some assistance. Thanks for your cooperation and teamwork.
- --Birdienest81 (talk) 07:04, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Birdienest81: I know this is being followed in a lot of awards lists but with the award ceremony article linked in the first column itself, I am personally think ceremony dates column does not add much value to the list and not in the favour of including it. If you and @Cowlibob: insist, we can add it. I will try to take some time out for infobox though. - Vivvt (Talk) 08:42, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Vivvt: I understand what you are saying, but it would be more beneficial to have a separate column listing the dates of the awards with some of those dates linked to the actual ceremony. Meanwhile each award would be linked to the main award article (example: Academy Award would link to Academy Awards with February 24, 2008 linked to 80th Academy Awards. It would help readers to know general information on what each award is about while providing a link to the ceremony separately. Also, it would be more consistent with recent accolade lists promoted to FL. I hope you understand this.
- --Birdienest81 (talk) 09:28, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- Relax guys. Featured list removal candidates normally stay for many months before being closed as it's a very inactive part of the site. Consistency with the current format would be a plus. Concentrate on getting the lead up to scratch. Other stuff like an infobox can easily be added later. Cowlibob (talk) 17:50, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Vivvt: Could you change the date format in the references to MM-DD-YY based on Wikipedia:ENGVAR since this is an American-produced film, according to the MOS, it states, "Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the more common date format for that country (month–day for the US, except in military usage; day–month for most others; articles related to Canada may use either consistently)." Thanks.

The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 21:28, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
