The C of E, a response is needed by you to this discussion on the DYK talk page. The hook has already been moved to later preps twice; I think it will need to be pulled and the nomination reopened if real progress isn't made very soon now. Thank you in advance for your response. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:15, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your hard work and research. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project) |
User:MX submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:
- The C of E has been an editor since 2008 and has over 25,000 edits with 5 GA articles and over 340 DYKs! This editor puts in a lot of hard work and research to articles about British football. But my favorite work from The C of E was the creation of Presidential M&M's. It was promoted at DYK and reached over 21,000 views in two days! He once held the records of having written both most viewed lead and non-lead hooks at WP:DYKSTATS with Silver Cross Tavern and United States v. Article Consisting of 50,000 Cardboard Boxes More or Less, Each Containing One Pair of Clacker Balls. I know The C of E wants to be an admin one day, and that day will surely come. - Good stuff: nice to see this new article on DYK! I've been doing some research on Heathrow for non-Wikipedia reasons and have uncovered a few interesting things, including an anecdote about the Osmonds (but where did I file the reference for it...?). Not to mention a 1950s or 1960s rail ticket covering return rail travel from Bournemouth to Woking, coach travel to Heathrow and "a tour of the perimeter roads (!!) and admission to the Queens Building roof gardens". I'll put the article on my watchlist and try to add some more. Best, Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 23:12, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 March newsletter
And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.
Our top scorers in round 1 were:
- Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
- FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
- Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
- Ceranthor, Numerounovedant, Carbrera, Farang Rak Tham and Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.
If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! New Page Review Newsletter No.10
ACTRIAL:
- ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.
Paid editing
- Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies. A further discussion is currently taking place at: Can a subject specific guideline invalidate the General Notability Guideline?
Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled
- While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.

Project News
By Lionelt
Belated Happy Easter and Kalo Pascha! We're excited to announce the return of our newsletter Ichthus! Getting this issue out was touch-and-go for a while. Check out what's happening at the Project:
- There was a lively discussion about the Easter Did You Know nomination Christ the Lord is Risen Today
- RFC at Knights of Columbus regarding a question about having Prop 8 in the lead
- In anticipation of being nominated for Featured article, Presbyterian Church in the United States of America was put up for Peer Review by Ltwin
- The death of Billy Graham on February 21 was a profound loss for many. For the Wikipedia reaction see this discussion. Graham received a blurb.
- And... Order of Friars Minor--nominated by Chicbyaccident--is still waiting for a GA reviewer. Please help out if you can.
Achievements
In March the Project saw four articles promoted to GA-Class. They were the oh-so-irresistible Delilah (nom. MagicatthemovieS) (pictured), Edict of Torda (nom. Borsoka), David Meade (author) (nom. LovelyGirl7) and last but not least Black Christmas (2006 film) (nom. Drown_Soda). Black Christmas? How did that get in there lol? Congratulations to all of the nominators for a job well done!

Jesus (7–2 BC to 30–33 AD) is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God and the awaited Messiah of the Old Testament. Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that a historical Jesus existed, although there is little agreement on the reliability of the gospel narratives and how closely the biblical Jesus reflects the historical Jesus. Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Jewish preacher from Galilee, was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of the Roman prefect, Pontius Pilate. Christians generally believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, performed miracles, founded the Church, died by crucifixion as a sacrifice to achieve atonement, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven, from which he will return. The great majority of Christians worship Jesus as the incarnation of God the Son, the second of three Persons of a Divine Trinity. A few Christian groups reject Trinitarianism, wholly or partly, as non-scriptural. In Islam, Jesus is considered one of God's important prophets and the Messiah. (Full article...)

I have struck your proposed hook in the nomination as it does not appear to be "hooky" or interesting. As per Yoninah's suggestion, I suggest that you expand the article to include whatever "quirky" information you can find about the act or the organization, then write a new hook based on that. The C of E. Hi - I have seen that you have created the following page, which I in turn have updated further since the club has won the Herts/Middlesex 1 and promotion to the London leagues. However, since the two areas of the club seems to have been merged into one it begs a couple of questions. Should we simply transfer all historical information from London Welsh RFC into London Welsh Amateur, or should the amateur club details go back into the main London Welsh page, or should the pages be combined into one? Other clubs such as Richmond and London Scottish went into liquidation and rose from the ashes but still retain the same Wiki page. What are your thoughts? Jgjsmith006 (talk) 22:20, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- I think that we need to consider that the LW clubs are two separate clubs that co-existed. LS and Richmond were phoenix clubs that carried on the legacy of the old club. It is better that they are separated so it shows clearly that the London Welsh in London 3 is not the same club as the former Premiership outfit that got liquidated. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 18:49, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- I see what you mean - it was a situation similar to Sale FC Rugby Club and Sale Sharks, only both clubs are still running. The problem I see is that the London Welsh RFC page is still being updated as if it was an active club, using the same head coach as the London Welsh Amateur side and even including them being in the Herts/Middlesex 1 league. I can see there being real confusion with editors who are perhaps not familiar with Wikipedia in the way we are, and adding information with the best of intention. It also seems that the amateur club is now using the name London Welsh RFC instead of London Welsh Amateurs or London Welsh Druids. Perhaps we need to get more consensus from other Wikipedia rugby union editors using a Talk Page - I usually hate doing that sort of thing but it could be important with regards to this issue. Jgjsmith006 (talk) 22:22, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- I think that it merely confusion by some reckless editing, who don't realise that LW is liquidated but LWA is still running as an independent club. Their first team just uses the London Welsh name now. Likewise we have London Irish and London Irish Amateur. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 15:42, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- Yes London Irish and London Irish Wild Geese is a good example. I guess we keep an eye on both pages and keep things as they are. Jgjsmith006 (talk) 16:46, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
