Hello! What do you need more precisely? And do I need to restructure or rework the draft in some way? There are really no other good sources I can find on the web but I have interviewed the main member of the band himself for a book I am writing. That in my world is a very good source. I have seen many bands on Wikipedia that are not so wellknown and with the same type of sources so why is mine declined? I belive they are an important band for the american synthpop scene. Best wishes! Robert Missionaryofgod (talk) 21:37, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Your comment was: "Unacceptable in our policies as there's no automatic inherited notability from anything or anyone and what's here is only a business announcement sourced by business announcements". SwisterTwister talk 16:20, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
I understand the notability issue and I can work on that. But I don't understand your reference to this article being "supported by business announcements"; international organisations like UNESCO and the European Commission are not business organisations, and these are some of those I cited in the draft article as validating the work of ATEE. If the validation of major organisations like these is not acceptable, what is? Holdspa (talk) 11:36, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

04:07:55, 6 February 2017 review of submission by ALCMEL
Hi David/SwisterTwister,
Thanks very much for reviewing the submission. I read your feedback and have a question regarding references. I'm not sure where I can get any more references from. Would it help by removing the two "article" based ones which were: https://issuu.com/starweekly/docs/nsw-20150721 and www.beanscenemag.com.au/news/article/the-espress-group-to-feature-painted-ellipse-machines-during-mice2013
I only included these two reference links as there wasn't a great deal of information available (and I do realise they were promotional type articles but I wanted something to show the existence of the two companies). If the two links above were removed would it be sufficient to have this published?
This entry submission is to simply note the existence of the two companies and that Espress Group took over from the initial company. I'm also experiencing difficulty displaying the references as per instructions. Another user, MatthewVanitas kindly updated two of the links as they should be but even with following the instructions for ref links I can't seem to replicate what he's done with the remaining links. I also can't remove the two "article" based ones as listed above.
Any further help would be much appreciated as I'm a little stuck.
Thanks again.

Hi,
This is with reference to my draft on latentview analytics. I do not understand that why it has been rejected again. If I write too much about the company, you call it advertising and if I write too little you say its not notable. Can you please clarify which sentence looks like advertising? Moreover, other analytics companies like fractal analytics, opera solutions , MuSigma Inc follow the same structure and language in wikipedia which has been accepted. Could you please clarify this as to what particularly you find advertising in the article and what do you expect to see. AlkaPandey1234 (talk) 05:12, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello SwisterTwister,
You recently reviewed a Draft that I submitted, https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Patriot_Software,_LLC.
Your criticism was that this draft didn't include significant coverage from reliable sources. It's good criticism, and I cannot dispute that.
I believe the subject's most reliable independent source that wasn't a passing mention is http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20160428/NEWS/160419803/qa-mike-kappel-ceo-of-patriot-software-in-canton.
In addition, I forgot to include a news article on the subject in Canton's newspaper, the Canton Repository: http://www.cantonrep.com/news/20160403/jackson-townships-patriot-software-helps-fill-small-businesses-needs.
In your eyes, is that enough to establish the subject's notability? If not, what number of sources did you have in mind as a minimum threshold?
I trust your judgement, and would like to do this correctly. Your input will most definitely help.
Thank you,

Hi,
Thanks for reviewing this submission! I'm not sure that I understand your feedback in the context of Wikipedia's guidelines for notability for creative individuals.
These guidelines read as follows:
"1.The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors. 2.The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique. 3.The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series) or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. 4.The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums."
My submission is based on the belief that EMN satisfies at least two of these criteria. In particular, in accordance with the first criteria, it is my belief that ENM's notability as an author is established by: her own writing (sourced); her responsibility for making the reputation of TPT; her reputation in the eyes of her peers as evidenced, for example, by her responsibility in assisting with the publication of Catcher in the Rye.
With respect to her reputation as an artist, the fourth criteria includes the standard that "the person...has won significant critical attention." ENM's award with respect to her painting is explicitly referenced in the submission. I don't see the requirement in the above that you reference, namely, that the subject of a submission in this category verify their notability with holdings in libraries. I believe that such a standard does not exist for very good reason.
While I am willing to concede that EMN's notability as a either an author or a painter might present a close case, I think it quite easy to make a case for her notability based on her accomplishments across disciplines.
Marginal cases like these, and the interpretation of the rules that you are applying in the case of this submission, are rather troubling to me. While I have no doubt that submissions are reviewed on their own merits, as you suggest, my concern is that these individual merits concerns, carried out in an uncoordinated manner, work to systematically undermine the notability of figures like ENM whose work exists in multiple registers. More concerning than that, however, is the way that these individual decisions work to undermine the notability of women. It pains me to see the concessions made both here and in response to my comments on TokyoGirl1979's page regarding derivative notability in the context of artistic communities, and the role played specifically by women in such communities. While the subject is no doubt complicated, it was my belief that in the context of Wikipedia, which has extensive discussion of artistic and literary salons, particular examples of such salon luminaries would be welcome, if only for the purposes of critique.
Having said this I urge you to reconsider your decision. This will be my final inter-Wikipedia exchange on this topic, and I thank you for your time, attention, and commitment.

re: Draft:List of Washburn Guitars instruments
Thank you for your response; it is taken to heart. My concern in drafting a stand-alone list is that I didn't want to clutter an encyclopedic article with a big chunk of data blocks. Because of your feedback, I have just now found relevant commentary in the Manual of Style for such lists, where "Every entry in the list fails the notability criteria" therefore such "are almost always better placed within the context of an article on their "parent" topic."
Work on the list(s) will continue, with intent to bring it into the main Washburn Guitars article when properly fleshed out. And, yes, references ARE being upgraded.
I appreciate your time and guidance.

Dear SwisterTwister,
Many thanks for your time in reviewing and commenting on my draft article on 'OrderWise'. It is greatly appreciated.
I was very careful to avoid promotional language such as ‘one of the fastest growing companies’ or ‘a wide range range of features’, or ‘greatly boosts a company’s performance’ etc.
I kept everything very factual/neutral, with no bold sale’sy claims, and rigorously referenced the article to a range of third party external independent sources. See specific notes on these below.
In particular, one of the main reference sources used is the Lincolnshire Echo newspaper’s website (Lincolnshire Live) which is an Independent Press Standards Organisations Code of Conduct adhering newspaper which indeed has its own Wikipedia article.
Furthermore, the Mel West. “Software specialists OrderWise reflects on a year of growth and success”. Lincolnshire Live, 21st December 2016 reference and the “Sarah Harrison-Barker. “David Hallam: Finding order in chaos”. Lincolnshire Business, 19th February 2016” reference were major feature articles in the respective publications, written by professional journalists.
As such, there are multiple reliable, independent and verifiable sources used throughout.
Re: the awards – they were independently judged and I referenced them and included them as ‘factual occurrences’. Some of the awards were referenced to the Lincolnshire Echo newspaper’s website (Lincolnshire Live) which, as already stated is an Independent Press Standards Organisations Code of Conduct adhering newspaper which indeed has its own Wikipedia article.
Any help and specific suggestions as to what can be done to, or removed from, the article to make it more suitable for Wikipedia would be greatly appreciated. I’ve looked at similar company articles and they seem to have sections on ‘features/products’, ‘architecture’, accreditations, etc.
Similarly, all sorts of articles seem to mention award wins.
As a first time Wikipedia drafter I am keen to understand and comply with all guidelines, policies etc, so some further, specific guidance would be a great help.
Thank you.

Hi Again,
Further to my previous message, just another couple of points that I forgot to add:
The review notice states the article “should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed”. However, the article I wrote ONLY contains references from independent verifiable sources, and there is NO self produced content referenced.
You mention in your review that interviews had been used as reference sources, but I was very careful not to use any quotes from company employees from news articles that included interview elements. Instead I only used reference sources that had facts, information and statements made by the professional journalist.

Review of Kansas City Area Development Council
--Ithinkkc (talk) 22:44, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
Hello SwisterTwister, I appreciate the time you spent with our submission. Could you please help me to better understand your comments. For example, you wrote that this is advertising and there is "clearly nothing else to say about the company." The Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) is a nonprofit economic development entity that represents the Greater Kansas City region. To our knowledge there are many similar listings on Wikipedia fdadfa
In regards to the deletion because of "advertising," which elements specifically are you referring to?
References & Notability I have now compared all of our references with Wikipedia's guidelines and determined the "bad" sources.
Do I need to keep all existing references that are paired with the current content, or will I need to re-write all of it and add only the "reliable" references? Or, may I keep the current content and add the "reliable" sources to the list.
What information about the organization will provide notability?
Thank you again for reviewing our submission, and I look forward to your response.

To the reviewer of the proposed Wikipedia entry for "Helen Louise Beccard Niles":
I appreciate your making this review. I feel caught in a Catch-22 situation, though. If Helen Louise Beccard Niles were already famous, there would already be a Wikipedia page for her. Since she is not famous, it looks to be a difficult matter to demonstrate that her career is worthy of notice. I have read the Wikipedia guidelines on this subject, and I would like to offer the following comments:
--The artist's work was often written about in mainstream newspapers during her exceptionally long and productive career, as is indicated in the Notes section.
--The artist's work was chosen out for exhibit in a number of the leading art museums in the country, as well as in very many shows sponsored by the leading artist associations in her places of residence, as is indicated in the "Exhibits and Awards" section.
--There is currently a lot of scholarly interest in recovering the work of women artists and writers who had talent and did distinguished work in former years, but who never won big names during their lifetimes, whether because of personal factors affecting women's lives (such as childbearing and raising a family) or because of professional biases that favored men.
--The artist not only worked at a very high professional level. Importantly, many of her drawings, prints, and paintings are of unusual historical interest in providing visual documentation of the "vanished America" of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, particularly through her portraits of "people of color" and her depictions of working-class people and scenes. Her body of work can now be viewed as having become "a significant cultural monument," even though it was not viewed as such during her lifetime.
--Many of the artists' works are now scattered among private owners, and it will be to their interest to have a Wikipedia page available that provides meaningful information as to who the artist was. Likewise, scholars of the future may be interested in studying the artist's career for the light it sheds on the broader topic of women artists of the twentieth century.
--Finally, I would like to support this my claims about the distinguished character of the artist's work, as well as its historical importance, by uploading a cluster of images of her artwork to the proposed web page. I could not succeed in doing this when I tried, however, though I think I did succeed in mounting one photo of the artist herself to a Wikipedia site (though I cannot now locate where it is....). As a novice editor, how can I best upload images to the proposed page?
I apologize for the length of this reply. I've spent a lot of time preparing this entry and I'd very much like to see it approved, though I know it probably needs rewriting so as to better bring out the points I raise here. I am willing to resubmit the article but I would like to know if these thoughts seem to make sense.

Hi there Twisted Sister, I have spent lots of time researching and editing my entry for Metalock in Wikipedia. Your feedback was very useful. However, I am not convinced that the third time I have submitted the article is still good enough. I would like to know what else I can do to "establish notability", as I have already scoured libraries and internet sources. Tom Waltham is well known from his recordings (many of which are on youtube), movies, and from his equal collaboration with other jazz musicians who have their own wikipedia entries. Yet the only biography available is Daniel Nevers (in French), who describes him as "mystérieux" and makes a strong case that he should be better known. It seems to me that wikipedia is the place to do this.

Thanks for the feedback. However, indeed the citations do include evidence of the subject's notability. For example, there are bio links to articles written about the subject in Fortune Magazine. Additionally, you mentioned that links to reviews for the subject's books would also be helpful, towards that end, citations containing book reviews from both the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune were already included. The citations should not be links to mentions, but instead actual sources of information about the subject. This individual is quite notable and it escapes me how she wasn't included years ago. Please advise.

Maronda Homes Delete Request
SwisterTwister Although i just typed TwistedSister and had to delete it lol. I understand your concern with it being too PR focused however I have to say I really tried to keep it as unbiased and neutral as possible which i am being. I created the page because during our home buying process in the pittsburgh area we researched many builders and couldn't seem to find to much info on maronda homes, that is not the reason we didn't use them. But the other builder we went with has a wikipedia page so i figured why should maronda and s&a homes. Creating the page was one of my ways to expose more info to potential people looking for more info on the company. I also plan to create a page for S&A homes but before i do that i would like to make sure i have a full understanding of what Wikipedia is looking for. Should i locate more creditable sources? The local papers are pretty big publications and i would with out a doubt consider them creditable. Their no NYtimes but they are legit brick & mortar establishments in pittsburgh for 100+ years. I don't think i am going to find too much in terms of bignames like NYtimes because their not in NY. Let me know what more you need and i will try my best.
here is something [1] but will this be considered to PR related, I guess it's just hard when your talking about a business to stray away from that.
Could this fit the non-PR related [2][3]
Just trying to understand sorry to bother and thank you for your help :)

Hi,
I created a page. The reviewer has left a message that the ref are just a notice. But I wanted to clarify that, the the two references are very important because - ( 1) the NITI AAYOG is a Government of India Division, where a through check happens before making an entry for Any Non-profitable organization. ( 2) Guidestar is a very renowned NGO or NPO directory. They also conduct a thorough check before any entry.

10 February 2017 review of submission by Pavlova2015
Pavlova2015: Good morning! I've been tasked with creating a Wikipedia page for Mark Patricof, but there seems to be an issue with his "notability" andI'm hoping someone can assist me with this. He is the owner of Tiger Beat magazine - that fact alone would, in my mind, make him a notable person. Additionally, both of his brothers (Jon and Jamie Patricof) were allowed to have Wikipedia pages posted (presumably by their assistants), and they are most certainly in the same tier. Any help would be most appreciated!Pavlova2015 (talk) 15:42, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

My request for IMPORTING AN ARTICLE FROM DE:WIKIPEDIA was denied by saying "This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability". That means an approved article in de:Wikipedia, which was ONLY TRANSLATED, is not a reliable reference? That means, the different language versions of Wikipedia are that independent that one has to start from scratch in every language? If that is so, I've just learned a lot about the wonderful idea of having a global encylcopedia... Maybe it's my bad, but I could not find a specific path to submit a translation. You're doing fats and good work, please advise!

Review of submission on Africa50 by Gaboleo2
Dear Swister Sister, Thanks for reviewing the article I submitted on Africa50 (and all your other great work on Wiki). As you will see, I have added several more reliable sources to the points made, so the article and the importance of having an entry on Africa50 is now supported by major media such as Bloomberg, Jeune Afrique (the major pan-African weekly), Huffington Post, some relevant local media, and several more top financial and African online news sites. I'm not sure what more I could do. I think that a publicly financed infrastructure fund worth almost $1 billion supported by 23 African countries merits inclusion in Wikipedia. There are a many less important entities listed. BTW -- Take a look at the entry for "Martin J. Silverstein", a possible Trump nominee for a development assistance post. I think there is a bunch of unsupported material in there.
I look forward to hearing from youGaboleo2 (talk) 11:27, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Second opinion about an article
Hey SwisterTwister! For the first time, I've been trying to write an article through WP:AFC so I can improve what I can do to create on Wikipedia. However I've ran into a stump that I need a second opinion on and that being the name of the subject and the subject in general. The subject is a feral child whose at the age of 18 as of 2017, however that being said, I'm having certain doubts about creating the article.
Although the subject merits as a possible case study for psychology's basis of human conditioning, I wanted first an opinion if I should create the article about Danielle/Dani (as I believe there's a sufficient amount of sources at this time) and second if possible, then how would I go about in naming the articles subject? Most sourcing will either include the name of birth, pseudonym, or current name of her, however being that shes 18 and a feral child should the name be permitted to one or the other per what Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Public figures has to say? (Quick overview of who I'm talking about): Encyclopedic Overview or Story and another person being a feral child Genie (feral child). Adog104 Talk to me 23:12, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

I need further, specific guidance please following rejection of draft entry for Gavin Selerie.
Queries for reviewer:
1. The draft does contain reference to some significant reviews (e.g. The Times Literary Supplement and The Observer [London]) and articles (e.g. from The Guardian) but perhaps these are insufficiently flagged up in the main text. Would it help to mention these titles in the main text and not merely in the notes?
2. The authority of some of the sources may not be immediately apparent to readers outside the UK.Ian McMillan is the leading poetry presenter on BBC Radio 3, although the review referred to is from an online magazine. (There is a new hyperlink to this.) Would it help to use some introductory phrase such as ‘BBC presenter Ian McMillan’ or would this cause confusion? Again, Robert Hampson is a leading literary critic and professor, but it is difficult to indicate this without overloading syntax. Jacket Magazine is a highly regarded online publication with a long history.
3. On the issue of reliability of sources: At present I cannot see anything that clashes with Wikipedia policy. Perhaps you could indicate an example in the text submitted where this is an issue.
4. There are other significant reviews not mentioned in this draft, due to concerns about length. For instance, reviews of two books in Chicago Review. Would it help to add these to the list of external references?
5. Would it help to add ISBNs to the list of book titles? Some comparable entries for poets seem to include these, although more for North American than UK writers.
6. In the draft there is already a cross-reference to the Wikipedia entry on The British Poetry Revival, in which Selerie is mentioned. (Many of the other poets have individual Wikipedia entries.)
A further cross-reference in the entry for Sheridan Le Fanu (Further Reading section):
‘Le Fanu, his works, and his family background are explored in Gavin Selerie's mixed prose/verse text Le Fanu's Ghost (2006).’
[Gavin Selerie in red because at present there’s no Wikipedia entry for him]
7. As further evidence of notability, I propose adding a small section to the bibliography listing details of some anthologies in which Selerie has appeared. This seems to be standard practice.

Hi SwisterTwister,
Thanks for your clarification.
However, given the fact that East Hope is among the biggest Aluminium companies in the world and active in a variety of other industrial sectors, and that the Chinese sources are important ones, I feel that the notability requirements are being fulfilled. I added some new sources in English, and would like to stress that the English-language sources are major publications as well. Hopefully we can move the article to the next stage. About the rejection of my VeEX company profile (draft) contibution
Hi, after reviewing multiple (similar) company profiles in Wikipedia, I did my best to improve its contents to make sure it doesn't advertise products or service, so it only focuses on the field of expertize. I also added multiple citations of reputable trade magazines and news to validate the relevance of the company in the telecommunications sector. So, I still don't know why is it declared as an advert? Many of the other Similar Companies listed in the article, do have Wikipedia profiles and even describe their products by name, so I'm not really sure why they passed the bar and this article didn't. I would appreciate any guidance, because at this point I'm perplexed and lost. We believe that the VeEX company deserves a page to define it, since it will continue to contribute its expertize to Wikipedia in the communications technologies area and other articles are already citing VeEX. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Veexpolo (talk • contribs) 23:54, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Swister Twister. Thanks for your feedback on the article GDS Services. Please excuse me but I'm still a little confused as to why those sources are essentially not acceptable, as they are independent sources. Does it have to do with the nature of the article or something? I thought these sources would meet the guidelines because they are from independent sources. Review of article on Juan Monatoya
Hello David, thanks tremendously for your rapid reply to my submission for the addition of
I was expecting it to take a week and it got done in 12 hours. That's really commendable.
I'm a junior editor. These first few submissions of articles are primarily an exercise in learning to submit articles according to wikipedia's standards. I will include a larger number of references as you suggested (there are plenty available) However of the three I included, Two of them are probably the foremost peer reviewed journals our industry ( interior design ) has to offer. It is actually quite hard to find better references than Interior Design magazine and Architectural Digest. They have been around a very long time and are notoriously stuffy and conservative about inclusions into their profiles section.
For this reason I would like to know how I go about proposing the acceptance of these sources as WP:RS if that is possible. Rejecting these sources as the basis for starting an article essentially closes the door on a wealth of information from which Wikipedia could benefit.
Other questions:
- Would quoting the article page number and publication code of the printed journals be better than providing links to a website?
- For the publisher I included as a reference on his inclusion in a published biographical book, what would be a better source than the information on the publisher's website?
- Would press coverage of the works created by this interior designer help to increase the volume of sources in this article?
- I don't wish to spend lots of time picking sources at random (there's an enormous amount of information on the person I proposed for inclusion) and having my article re-rejected so with regard to this industry and to help me submit future articles on interior designers, could I have some help with sourcing and notability guidelines specific to this field?
Thanks so much for your time, and for reading my queries (if you made it his far :)...)
- Respectfully, Elliott Edaham (talk) 00:45, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
- David, thanks again for posting that comment on the page for Juan Montoya, in which you stated that sources should not be "announcements, mentions, press releases or similar". The sources I included do not seem to fit that description. Two of them are full biographical articles on the person, one of which is his inclusion into a list of designers who have contributed significantly to the field. The last is a citation of a published hardback autobiography on his life. I will as I say, continue to edit the article. It ought to be clear that I'm trying to create it as a seedling which can be improved over time by others. Thanks again for your help!Edaham (talk) 01:28, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
- Perhaps I can help. It's possible that he is notable, but the article does not yet show it. The 2 linked articles will be clearer if given in full bibliographic format using the cite journal template. The third item is a book: use cite book for this, linking to the worldcat entry http://www.worldcat.org/title/la-formentera-the-woodland-refuge-of-juan-montoya/oclc/930788465&referer=brief_results
There is a second book also, at http://www.worldcat.org/title/juan-montoya/oclc/837116731&referer=brief_results. See ifyou can additionally find any reviews of the books. The criterion is WP:CREATIVE, and the books might be enough to do it. DGG ( talk ) 08:37, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
- @DGG:That does help - a lot! Thank you. I've also found some news sources which I will add to the article on projects completed by him. Is it OK/necessary to include comment tags in my revised article to explain what changes have been made?
Review of submission at Articles for creation: Sun Bets (February 14)
Hi, thanks for your review and I appreciate this is a difficult page to create without looking like spam but my intentions are wholesome so I'm just looking for a little more advice on how to get this in. Looking at list of bookmakers there are 26 pages of a similar nature to the one I'm trying to create, so what differentiates these pages from mine? I believe notability is more than covered by the fact the company is an offshoot of one of the UK's most recognisable newspapers and is involved in various sponsorship activities attracting interest in the brand's origins and parentage (both of the parent companies have detailed Wikipedia pages).
What causes my page to be considered less worthy of approval than the likes of SBOBET and Sportingbet? I'm just looking for advice so I can get it right. Thanks

1. A wikipedia page with just his picture seems to have been started on him by someone else - here is the link: [3] can I use that image?
2. He is the founder of a sport called Ride and Tie - the fact that he is the founder of this sport - here is the wikipedia link showing he is the founder - seems to make him notable. If I rework the biography based on this information would that help it get published? Seems like if he can be verified that he is the founder of this sport it would be pretty great to have a biography page on him - how many people are the founder of a sport?. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ride_and_Tie
3. What other reliable sources are helpful? newspaper articles he has written?

Titan is a largest and world - famous brand as you would also be knowing. When I checked the Wikipedia, there was no much updated information about company and their products. So with the help of a contributor, the page was updated. The content that was added in Titan page was updated information which was taken from company website and other news source.
Though I have gone through the policies of Wikipedia, I don't know exactly what style or write up should be there for Wikipedia. Closing AN/I discussion
Hi there, I have closed the discussion about you at AN/I because there was no consensus to take action against you or impose a sanction. However as you'll see in my closing notice there WAS a strong consensus that you really need to change your habit of giving minimal or no notice about page deletions. You are right that there is no such absolute policy. But you also need to recognise that the consensus against you at AN/I was very strong. Continue as you have been and it will only be a matter of time before another complaint is made. After such a thorough examination of your editing, and such a clear warning from your peers, a second AN/I might result in a different outcome. I'm sorry to have to speak so bluntly to a good and productive colleague; in every other respect your work here is exemplary. Please heed your peers on this, even if you believe yourself to be right. Uriel Rothblum
When you accepted the draft Uriel Rothblum on Feb.12 (last Monday) you introduced severe copyright violations into Wikipedia. The entirety of the first revision of the draft was copied from one of its sources, and the same editor later introduced copyvios from another source. I have stubbed the article back down and revdelled the copyright-violating revisions, so I think there is little more to be done in this case. But you might want to be more careful of this sort of thing in future. —David Eppstein (talk) 01:10, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Reasons not clear for rejecting Pradeep Gupta's Page
Dear SwisterTalk, This is further to your comment on rejection of Pradeep Gupta's page.
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Pradeep_Gupta
I feel that the profile's references have not been read carefully, because they are very clearly not self-advertising, as mentioned in your comments.
Please note that the following references are clearly not self-advertising:
1. A press release by The Press Information Bureau of The Govt. of India, stating that Mr. Gupta has been conferred with a prestigious award by the Home Minister of India. A press release by the Govt. of India can't be treated as self-advertising. It's very clearly a neutral reference.
2. Wikipedia's rules suggest that he should have been covered in books by reputed publishing houses. I have clearly given references of two reputed publishers--Tata McGraw Hill and Amazon.com. They have published books that provide details of Mr. Gupta's achievements and contributions to the Indian IT industry. Surely, these publishers would not be publishing anything from anybody, without carefully whetting them. They can't therefore be considered as self-advertising.
3. Mr. Gupta keeps getting invited to speak at various global forums, like the reference I gave on MIT's Global Workshop in Estonia. I think Massachussettes Institue of Technology is reputed enough, and would certainly not be influenced by anyone in any way. They would impartially invite only relevant experts for their forums.
4. Mr. Gupta started the FIRST IT MAGAZINE in India--Dataquest, followed by many other popular titles like PCQuest, Voice and Data, etc. And he did it 35 YEARS Ago, when IT industry was at a nascent stage in India. I'm sure Wikipedia would like to quote such first initiatives that have happened across the world. Moreover, all these magazines are very well known and respected all over India. Just about every stalwart of Indian IT industry has grown up reading these magazines, many of whom have been featured on Wikipedia as well.
I am therefore rather surprised, and in fact, do not appreciate your comment about how the references I've provided above are self-advertising and that they are not tolerated here. Hi SwisterTwister, most of Jeffrey J Hopp's achievements were prior to 1997 when Google kicked off. We have volumes of press clippings. Can we scan those and use those to verify his notability?
... or possibly use newspaper article achives links? Your thoughts are appreciated. The definition of those worthy of a wiki page reads the person needs to be "remarkable" and "notable". Jeffrey Hopp's achievement as founder and CEO of one of the largest charities still operating in Western Australia along with founding and establishing the New Zealander of the Year Awards (the highest accolade a New Zealand citizen can receive and is also still operating) are two of the notable and remarkable things we want to publish. I have read the policy pages. I would really appreciate any direction or advice you can provide to help us establish a Wiki page. Jeffreyjhopp (talk) 06:06, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

I think this is the correction section. Just so I understand correctly as to why the RecordFarm page is being deleted, it is not "notable." Meaning not noteworthy. However RecordFarm has several sources, albeit they are in Korean.
Wikipedia classifies notability as having three "Primary Criteria": depth of coverage, audience, and independence of sources. I will discuss each point in my understanding. 1. Depth of coverage, I feel is covered. I have plenty of sources, even more unused, however I didn't include because the articles are redundant (maybe I should've included those too despite this?). 2. Audience, this point is perhaps weak. RecordFarm's attention is mostly Korean. This, plus the sources are mostly in the Korean language would mean that it is best found on the Korean Wikipedia page instead? 3. Independence of sources, I think yes. Independence as in the news articles about the company are not paid/press releases/dependents or information dispersed by the RecordFarm itself, then yes, the news articles are independent.
Thank you for taking this time to read ^^

Hello,
Please note that as per your comments "Specifically needs all available major independent news and reviews.", I have
added 2 external, reliable and independent sources (variety.com & eyeforfilm.co.uk) & 1 new citation form indiewire.com about Javier Rebollo (not just movies).
Hope this is good enough for creation.
P.S. Gentle reminder of the fact that this article is being created from exactly the same information (and now, even more) that was used to create one of it's counterpart in Spanish https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javier_Rebollo
Thanks.

Hello again,
As per your 2nd comment "I see, however considering there's no limit in significant news and reviews, it will especially help adding all existing others.", I have
added 9 more external reference, most notably from MUBI, American Film Institute & The Hollywood Reporter along with 2 other citations.
These are pretty much all the news articles covered by the IMDB and most others (if any) are about his movies and not so much about the person himself.
Thanks.

I think I have removed anything that sounds like advertising - just basic facts from news sites and third person interviews. I'm requesting a re-review after having revised the article I submitted about Ambassador Maguy Maccario Doyle, to better tailor it to Wikipedia policies. In doing so, I am concerned that I have had to omit important information about the nature of the Ambassador's work and missions in the article, in an attempt to make it seem less promotional. In my view, an objective description of her positions and achievements is conducive to the article, though I see the concern for bias, so how do you suggest I go about constructing it so that it remains objective but not simply the list of titles and dates that it has been edited down to? I have also been given permission by my superiors at the embassy of Monaco to use the photo of the ambassador on the government/embassy website, to which they own the copyright. Can I do so without overstepping legal boundaries? CharlieCathryn (talk) 18:49, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Ron Benvenisti
Hi, Sis. You won't find me arguing with this. But you beat me by seconds: I was going to write something in the same vein, only with some elaboration.
The draft does actually make one or two fairly remarkable claims. Here's one: "At nineteen he became the youngest to join Magnum photos." That's Magnum Photos. Let's not argue over whether or not joining Magnum makes somebody encyclopedia-worthy; Wikipedia criteria aside for a moment, it is a major achievement. It's a prime example of the kind of claim that needs very clear and reliable evidence: a specific "<ref> ... </ref>" right next to it.
And what do you know, there is, or anyway briefly was, a specific claim for his membership: here.
Except that this had a big problem.
Of course I want to AGF, but there is a distinct possibility that the author of this draft might be less than entirely scrupulous when "sourcing".
Allegations must be made with care, so I'll not make them. However, can I suggest that you revisit Draft:Ron_Benvenisti and add to your comment that specific claims must come with specific sources? As a model for this among photographer bios, you might give the very new article Mimi Mollica (not by me but Lopifalko). -- Hoary (talk) 05:54, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Concern over Nomination for Deletion of Floship
I was the creator of the page floship, I created that page in good faith I came to know about floship in 2016 because my family business uses their services. So considering it notable enough I created that article, now after reviewing it as you have pointed out I believe it was created in little hurry so language was not appropriate and unwanted sentences were added. So after you pointed out I improved it, though most of the references are little reliable and PR based but there are some strong references too and I don't find it a case of total hopelessness. So I request you to consider it, as every creator do care for his creation so do I. And you're talking about some Paid thing, I assure you I am rich enough not to be involved in such little things. I am book and knowledge lover and love to spend two three hours searching things and wikipedia has been my source of information and comfort since 2006 so after a long time I decided to contribute positively. You added a link to this Google search to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mandela Effect in 2015 Sep. Can you remember how many hits it was returning back then? Hi and thanks for taking the time to review the biographical article on Dr. James Loging. Dr. Loging has been a beloved member of the community in the South Carolina towns he works in, which is why I felt compelled to submit an article.
However I do not understand the specific reason given for declining the article. You site policy that the sources are "simply announcements or mentions," but I disagree. Citing the trademark filing shows his invention is legitimate and recognized by the U.S. government, clearly a 3rd party. Would it be better to reference the invention's Amazon/Facebook/Walmart page/sales as evidence of its legitmacy? As a surgeon, having a video news segment from 10 years ago noting how he brought the procedure to our state is more than a mention, especially when a source like the Wall Street Journal wrote an article a few weeks ago talking about the popularity of the anterior hip replacement procedure today (I could not reference it because you have to be a paid member). I added references to his websites because they are newer to try to show who he is, so maybe those are not independent sources and we should take them out. But I do feel all of the other references are clearly reliable and independent.
So I guess it all boils down to whether he has had "significant coverage." Is the beauty in the eye of the beholder on that one? Is he penalized because he has worked most of his career in a time and field where Internet coverage is not important/sought after? Is it a small-town thing? If he practiced medicine in New York or L.A. that had a big PR firm would he have more "significant coverage" and thus be more likely to have an article approved?
If the answer to the above questions are yes, then I don't think I can make a counter-argument. I would only ask for clarification on what significant coverage is. But if that is the case, I feel that there may be an inherent bias against people who make a notable difference in their community, if that community is a smaller one. Dr. Loging has made such a difference in the lives of people in Columbia, SC, Greenville, SC and almost every small town in between as a surgeon, and helped parents and toddlers around the world with his invention. For this reason, I feel he is as notable as thousands of other entries on Wikipedia who others may or may not have heard of before.

Museum collections
On this judgement of yours: This is currently formatted as a personal memorial website, not a convincing encyclopedia article; also, with this said, he would have needed museum collections to be notable as a photographer.
It is indeed "formatted as a personal memorial website, not a convincing encyclopedia article". You were right to decline the application. But how is it that museum collections are required for notability as a photographer? Seems to me that they are sufficient but not necessary evidence for notability. There could be entirely different yet adequate evidence for notability. -- Hoary (talk) 01:06, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Because WP:ARTIST would apply which notes it. SwisterTwister talk 02:31, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Oh, sure, WP:ARTIST notes it. But it doesn't require it. Here's what it says (abridged):
Authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals:
- [...]
- [...]
- [...]
- The person's work (or works) either (a) [...], (b) [...], (c) ...], or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.
Actually this is ambiguous. Does it mean Authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals should meet at least one of the following four criteria: or does it mean Authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals should meet all four of the following four criteria:? I'd suggest that the latter would be impossibly strict and therefore it must be the former. Then representation in noteworthy permanent collections would be just one of four options within just one of four options. -- Hoary (talk) 03:18, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

Further questions about submission comment (February 24)
The recent response to my question was: "Well, a subject like this is naturally going to largely consist of a lot of localized news stories, announcements, mentions, interviews and that's what makes it challenging for independent notability and, unless there's a better amount of significance sourcing, it's still too questionable. That's why, in any case, it can be considered for merging to another related article as a section."
Upon research for other economic development organizations on Wikipedia to see what makes them credible I found many with little to no "independent notability." For example: International Economic Development Council, Greater Houston Partnership and Michigan Economic development corporation; all of which have two or less independent sources and the rest are company webpages/sources. I am confused on what makes them credible if almost all of their sources are internal?
Any information regarding this issue is greatly appreciated
Thank you

I'm not convinced by your arguments to my points on Mr. Gupta's notability.
1. The most notable point, according to me, is that Mr. Pradeep Gupta started the FIRST IT publication in India--CyberMedia, and his company today, is the LARGEST IT media house in India. His publications are common house hold names that everyone has heard of in India. To establish something with such high brand recall and then keep it running in a leadership position after 30+ years, is notable. By the way, I've seen many American media houses and their founders (e.g. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Halsey_Minor of CNet) featured on Wikipedia in the same fashion as I've featured Mr. Gupta.
2. In fact, let me also add that his company, CyberMedia picked up stakes in several American publications, like Computer Shopper and TDA Group. The news was featured prominently on Gigaom, Business Standard, DNA India, MoneyControl, etc.

3. On your comment that "It's a mere govt. of India press release", please note that it's proof that the Govt. of India has recognized Mr. Gupta for his achievements in entrepreneurship. It's an honor bestowed upon Mr. Gupta by the country, and that too, by the country's Home Minister.
4. On your comment about Amazon, an independent writer has written a book that prominently features Mr. Gupta. It's not a user review.
5. I also mentioned another book on "Cases on Strategic Management" (published by Tata McGraw Hill), which features Mr. Gupta and his company prominently.
I'm therefore again requesting you to consider publishing Mr. Gupta's profile. He is a well-established and respected entrepreneur in India.

Requesting assistance for draft declined after your review , citing resources not adequate
All the resources cited are prominent newspapers where articles had been featured , all of them are independently verifiable . The last two cited are articles from regional newspapers about the same person. Isn't it good enough ? I have given about 6 resources which are all coverage appeared in prominent newspapers . Wouldn't that make the person notable ? Please advise on what more can be done , since I have already cited the prominent , verifiable articles about the person. Please see articles in Wikipedia like ' https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revathi_Thirunal_Balagopal_Varma#cite_ref-3' where no links or verifiable resources are given! How come articles like that are approved and mine with decent resources are declined ? Kindly enlighten me because I seriously fail to understand why a child who has been featured in newspapers several times , is a published author of 10 books is not ' notable '! I request your kind help to bring the talent featured in Wikipedia . Thank you

I have recently requested for a page titled "CMIA Capital Partners" to be approved for publishing. Nevertheless, when referring to other published pages such as "Houlihan Loukey", I have noted that the wordings of my page and the latter is highly similar. I was able to find the necessary references and information that was missing in my original article. NP Politician
David, I have just received the notification that the submission for Jean-Luc Bressard was not notable person as a politician. The entry is not meant to be notable as a politician but as an Author who has published three titles and about to publish a series of titles on African History (fourth title), collaborating with a notable Austrian Illustrator. It is simply additional information that Bressard is the son and brother of a Famous Nigerian Politician and this cited fact is surely worthy of note in the entry. In addition to this, he is also next in line to inherit the Chieftaincy title of Balogun of Ife which makes him in hi sown right a Notable Person in the Yoruba Tribe in Nigeria. Yes, Bressard's Father was a prominent African politician who triggered Independence in Nigeria. This is relevant to Bressard's as Bressard's latest Novel "The Black Paradox" directly discusses the discrimination of Black people in western democracies and draws direct parallels with Post Independent Commonwealth countries (an area that his family played a role in West Africa). A notable and relevant heritage is Highly relevant to Bressard's entry but is not the reason that he is notable. Bressard's heritage gives credence to the subject matter that the author is writing about and is, one would have thought extremely relevant in the entry. I would be grateful if you could clarify whether you require the political aspect to be moved further down or whether you require further information on the publications? I would have expected the combined entry and familial links worthy of submission.

Hello SwisterTwister Thanks for the feedback on the article, I appreciate the clear and concise reply and the reason why the article is not accepted. I reading the guidelines further I am considering changing the article to focus more on the mountain peak called Monks Cowl, rather than the the early climber that attempted climbing the peak.
The other consideration is not to make a dedicated page but perhaps to make mention of the peak on an existing article rather than start a new article. Do you have any further suggestions or should I just make another attempt and submit for acceptance?

An ANI against me
An ANI has been opened against me, because of my actions in nominating articles for deletion. While it does not directly relate to the issue of Beauty Pageants, the person who opened it is one person who has hounded me about Beauty Pageants and it almost feels like an attempt at revenge for my success in getting so many Miss America contestant articles deleted.John Pack Lambert (talk) 04:01, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
- I was probably too rash in what I said above. The ANI has now progressed to a formal call to limit me to opening one AfD a day. I have written what I hope amonts to a well reasoned response on why I do not think that is a good idea. This is one of the most afraid rimes for me on Wikipedia I have ever experienced. I feel like I have no where to turn and greatly appreciate your thanking me. I also feel like anyrhing I do will be used against me. I wish I had figured out a way to not have let things escalate to the point of a threatened extreme limit. I am afraid that anything I do to publicize the attempted ban will be counted as unallowed canvassing. I dont know what to do. I sincerely hope I can convince people to not take any formal action at this time. I am worried that they will. I dont know who to turn to or how to get any help. I fear that anything I say anywhere will be used against me. I have been trying to be cooperative and not fight the issues but it is not doing any good.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:00, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
- The time for cooperation was when the issue was first brought to your talk page. Had you engaged with the numerous concerns instead of blanking them, there would be no ANI. --- PageantUpdater (talk) 21:09, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

hello Swister Twister ( I hope this message gets toy you?)
thanks for reviewing my article. "focus only with the best focused major independent news as this is what establishes notability"
Are you refering to articles written primarily about Maria Ripoll in national Newspapers etc? The ones written about the films she did and of course also talking about her (her directing style, her carreer etc) ... they should be valid then I guess ? I have already linked up a few of those ( el Pais/ La Vanguardia etc) , but I can find more and add them to "further reading" ...or expand the article into much more detail to add them as footnotes ( would that be a good idea?)
I also linked the awards & festivals that are mentioned in the article to the actual awards pages (Alma awards, the Goya Awards pages etc) other directors dont seem to do that. Is it better to delete those links and focus only on the Newspaper articles?
thank you

There are plenty of company profiles in Wikipedia and they all somehow promote themselves and you have approved. I 've already mentioned some of them, and I am not going to point out the rest. It is just unfair attitude to approve ones and reject others.

02:49:47, 4 March 2017 review of submission by TheBandShirleyFan
Hi, SwisterTwister. First of all, thank you for taking the time to go through this submission and checking all the information and references. Nevertheless, your feedback states that this article lacks independent sources, which clearly isn't the case. Out of the 13 unique references, only 2 are from the band's own Facebook page and 1 from an announcement article. The rest are feature articles from various online music-related and non-music-related magazines, legitimate newspaper websites (meaning, the article has also been published in local broadsheet), and a University-based newspaper.
Thus, I am requesting for a re-review and reconsideration. Ang Bandang Shirley is a notable band in the local independent music scene in the Philippines, which serve as other younger bands' (who have their own Wikipedia pages) mentor and inspiration. See: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Autotelic_(band) which listed Ang Bandang Shirley as an associated act. I believe this band is much worthy of having their own Wikipedia page given their name and reputation in this field.
Hoping for a positive response. Again, thank you.

Hi there
Thanks for your comments about the page I have submitted "London School of Samba"
I would like to appeal against the decision not to put this page on wikipedia for the following reasons
1. It deals with a band that plays samba, a world-wide musical genre from Brazil
2. It is about the first band to be established in the UK
3. Wikipedia has an entry for samba, and many entries for samba schools in Brazil - notably Mocidade (the patrons of the LSS) and Portela (the winners of the Rio Carnival this year). Why cannot Wikipedia thus have entries for samba schools in the UK, notably the first of the genre
4. No-one has yet written a book on samba in the UK, so finding a outside reference like this is impossible (compare that say to punk or hip hop). So here I cannot provide this most basic reference from outside the organisation. If you google "london School of samba" and "1984" to you will that it is a fact that the LSS were the first group
5. There are many newspaper articles on the LSS - but many of these which have a historical context are from before the time of the internet (or even just published in Brazil)
6. The LSS was the first samba group - now it is estimated to be anything between 400 and 600 such groups in the UK.
7. I cannot provide a source for above as (a) the one orgnisation that provided or corralated this information has gone down due to the death of the owner in 2015 (it was called the UK Samba Association and can still be found on google searches) (b) the Arts Council of England have published this information many times but only in internal documents for meetings with bands they fund
8. Thus putting a page up for the LSS would be the same as doing it for any first or early band or any particular genre (viz The Sex Pistols, The Damned etc)
9. In summary, samba is poorly documented in the mainstream media in books or newspapers in the UK
10. I have edited the text down to be as brief as possible. It could be even less than this. I ask you to consider the historical significance of the first band to play samba in the UK. I feel this is worthy of a wikipedia page.
Kind regards

I have found these links. They are from Brazilian, French and British newspapers dating from 1984, 1985 and 1986.
These talk about the London School of Samba being the first samba school and mention the historical significance of this (albeit not in English and there are no internet sources for this other than what is shown, these cannot be seen online in their original form from the publisher that first printed them).

I have two more important articles
- From The Independent 5th November 1998, talks about the LSS being the first samba school in the UK. I only have this as a JPEG. Interview with people in the school. Big article (half a page)
- From LEROS, a Brazilian magazine in London. An article on the 25th anniversary of the LSS, when they were visited by a Brazilian samba school Mocidade. Talks about the history, the links with Brazil. I only have this as a JPEG.
I cannot show you these as I cannot upload JPEGS as an example.
None of these articles on the internet. I feel that we are going round in circles. We have a historically significant event *the emergence of samba in the UK* But no-one has written a book The only newspaper articles exist from before the internet so cannot be cited unless you accept URLs from a Flickr page that has the originals. You allow samba schools from Brazil But not the first samba school from the UK I have reams of evidence, but none online - except from the links I have provided, which are original scans

Surnames
Hi! I'm glad you're making new surname lists; they're one of those areas where the work is never done. Just be aware that if the list is only people with the surname (as in Aricò), then it's not a disambiguation page, but a name page. Use the {{surname}} (or {{given name}}) template at the bottom instead of {{disambiguation}}. The WP:WikiProject Anthroponymy banner should be put on the talk page. The style practices are quite similar to dab pages, including birth and death years for each entry (if available).
When there's a single non-surname use of the word (again, as in Aricò), it works to put that into a "See also" section.
