Ubben/Phillip/Ostermann

[edit]

You contributed to the last two articles, so I thought the footage on this page would be of interest. It films their award ceremony a month before Ostermann was killed. None of them survived the war, but notice how Ostermann was talking to Himmler at the end. Was it common for Himmler to mix with German celebrities? (propaganda would have made them so). I had a look. Okay, but I question the assertion that Hitler had still not approved the Me 262 as a fighter. My view is that he came to do so by September 1944 at the latest. He did approve the creation of Me 262 units and accepted a proportion of production would be aimed at fighter variants. Dapi89 (talk) 18:49, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

I was going through the list of current coordinators to see who had admin rights, and noticed that you do not currently have access to the rollback tool. My question then is would like to gain access to it? If so I'd be happy to add that tool for your use since I have full faith and confidence that you would use it correctly. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Rudel paragraph in need of cite

[edit]

"Determined not to fall into Soviet hands, he led three Ju 87s and four Fw 190s westward from Bohemia, landing at Kitzingen airfield which was held by the United States Army Air Forces 405th Fighter Group. Rudel had his men lock the brakes and collapse the landing gear to make the aircraft useless and to render the airfield unusable by blocking the airstrip. Then he surrendered to U.S. forces, on 8 May 1945. Eleven months in prisoner of war camps followed." Kierzek (talk) 14:27, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This part seems a little out of chronological order; and the last sentence needs to be clarified. "Rudel returned to West Germany in 1953 and became a leading member of the Neo-Nazi nationalist political party, the German Reich Party (Deutsche Reichspartei). Rudel befriended Pierre Clostermann, a French fighter pilot, and suffered a stroke on 26 April 1970." Kierzek (talk) 17:45, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In the section:"Defeat on the Eastern Front", in this sentence a word is missing (I assume it is "tanks", but I don't have the book to check)- "From 7–10 January 1944, Rudel was credited with the destruction of 17 Soviet in these battles, he claimed his 150th tank victory on 11 January 1944, and flew his 1,700 mission on 16 January 1944." About the "KdE", Oberst Edgar Petersen

[edit]

Dear MisterBee1966:

The PIPE Here...numerous references from the later years (summer 1942 onwards) of WW II in Europe concerning ANYTHING to do with the WW II German Luftwaffe's military aircraft test facilities, the so-named Erprobungsstellen, HAVE to mention "that certain Colonel" named Edgar Petersen. He commanded the entire network of them from at least August 1942 onwards, and was certainly involved with quite a few developments as the war dragged on. If one Herr Gordon Gollob was sent to work in the Erprobungstellen system, he would have CERTAINLY come under Oberst Edgar Petersen's command during the time he was serving there. My latest edit to Gollob's record during the time he was serving there, currently reads as follows:

"...which two years previously came under the command of Oberst Edgar Petersen.[1] ".

With all of the work I've done on the edits of anything to do with the Heinkel He 177 and its two "offshoots" - with which "poor Edgar" was kept awake at night for quite some time, in trying to stay on "fat Hermann's" "good side" concerning the troubled German heavy bomber design - everything available seems to show that "poor Edgar" was the "KdE", or Kommandeur der Erprobungsstellen/"Commander of of Proving/Test Test Establishments" during the time Gordon Gollob was working within the Erprobungsstelle personnel pool.

Sorry for the reminder...but Edgar Petersen WAS in command of the entire Erprobungsstellen network test facilities from at least August 1942 onwards, AND if Gordon Gollob was working WITHIN the "E-Stelle" personnel pool at that time in the second half of 1942, Petersen WAS his CO.

Thank you and Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE (talk) 17:26, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"In conjunction with the Bauaufsicht Luft (Construction Supervisor, Air) Oberst Petersen (KdE)..." - the concluding abbreviation is defined as the Kommandeur der Erprobungsstellen, or "Commander of of Proving/Test Establishments", the CO of the entire set of Erprobungsstelle facilities the Luftwaffe had established for military aircraft test and evaluation, as defined on page 244 of the quoted book.

Friedrich von Mellenthin & Panzer Battles

[edit]

I am looking for someone to help with the Friedrich von Mellenthin page and the page for "Panzer Battles" authored by him. Another editor has added some rather remarkable material to the page and due to my lack of experience as an editor, I allowed myself to become entangled in an edit war. I have started a conversation on the von Mellenthin talk page but I don't believe a consensus with the other editor will be reached and I am reluctant to attempt any more editing on that page. Thanks in advance for any input you are able to give.

  • I caught one last question as I added the commas to the article - but have already passed it as GA, just FYI - really great job! In "Public scandals", 2nd sentence, you say " held a tradition meeting". What do you mean by "tradition"? It sounds like a reunion, like a school class reunion, but I was not sure if that is what you really meant. If you could clarify that term, that would be great. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Battle of Hamel VCs.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 17:04, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have. Sorry for not responding in over a month things have been non-stop and life has just got more complicated. It would be good if you could drop in. I haven't had the time to look into the circumstances of your departure. The place will be poorer without level-headed people editing German articles. Unfortunately, we have an interest in a field which is automatically difficult. German personnel, rightly or wrongly, are a target—guilty by association. People do not like to credit them with achievements of any kind, and I think there are a lot of editors who find ways to chip away at them (and your hard work). It shouldn't come as a surprise, and I don't think this is reason enough to abandon 10 years of graft. Hope to see you around soon. Dapi89 (talk) 15:36, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I had a shit load of emails it might have got wiped. Can you forward it to my personal one?

A tag has been placed on File:Gollob-Ostermann-Lent-Setz-Geißhardt.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The Anti-Flame Barnstar
For keeping cool under scrutiny. Otr500 (talk) 23:45, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

. Otr500 why are you surprised? The lengths that a certain element of MILHIST editors have gone to to discredit the work that MisterBee1966 has done would drive most of us to retirement. The Rambling Man (talk) 23:48, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't look at his editing record, and certainly wasn't involved in any of the "discrediting" you mention. I do know you have succeeded in running me away from anything you are involved with, so you can forget my name.
Since it is considered solved by a broad community consensus (also in the Manual of Style guidelines) that blue links not indiscriminately link back to the same article, and the same with the over-use of red links, I hope MisterBee1966 considers this with other articles (several actually) he has helped get promoted, as well as other constructive suggestions, even if the project is not concerned with such things. The article List of highly-decorated German pilots of ground attack aircraft has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An unnecessary cross-categorisation. Most of the subjects included are redirects to another list for lack of individual notability. Created under the POV title: List of German World War II ground attack aces & relies on a single, less than RS source.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of highly-decorated German pilots of ground attack aircraft until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Replaceable fair use File:Reinhard Hardegen.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Reinhard Hardegen.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:24, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Template:Knight's Cross recipients of the 4th SS PD has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page.

Multiple templates have been nominated for discussion; pls see linked entry for the full list. K.e.coffman (talk) 03:09, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ergänzungs-Jagdgruppe Süd has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An unremarkable training unit that did not see combat. Significant RS coverage not found link, just passing mentions and / or non RS. Article lists one external link which is a self-published web site.

The article Ergänzungs-Jagdgruppe Merseburg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An unremarkable, short-lived training unit that did not see combat. Significant RS coverage not found.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, MisterBee1966. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Erwin Clausen, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Stromberg and Westerland (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hans-Joachim Jabs

I saw the listing of claims you added for the article on Jabs. Excellent. And in a collapsable section makes it information that is readily available to the interested reader, and yet does not overwhelm the page. And I see you defended the addition well. Nice. Thanks so much for improving the article! Gunbirddriver (talk) 03:57, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, MisterBee1966. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wehrmachtbericht mentions

[edit]

According to a recent RfC, references in the Wehrmachtbericht may be included "when a reliable source that focuses on the mentioned person or unit specifically states that the mention was an honour." You've added many mentions that are sourced to books, as well as many instances of the unsourced phrase "To be singled out individually in this way was an honor and was entered in the Orders and Decorations' section of a soldier's Service Record Book." Since you seem to have access to these sources, would you be willing to help go through the articles and confirm that they meet the new requirements? I would suggest including relevant quotes, perhaps as a note within the reference, to help other editors verify this. –dlthewave 16:52, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. March 2019

[edit]

A recent edit of yours at Hermann-Friedrich Joppien added material sourced to Stockert 2012. I'm not sure if you're aware, but this source is unreliable per community consensus at RSN. The edit has been reverted and I would ask that you not use this source again without first establishing its reliability at RSN. Feel free to discuss any concerns. –dlthewave 15:21, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
