Awarding Barnstar

The Barnstar of Good Humor
Aprils fools day was a blast. Loads of users lightened up to have good old fashion fun. I want to thank you for taking part in editing this page in particular and even though I may not know you, embrace the same talk pages, or even edit with you in the near future, I'd like to award you this Barnstar for making Wikipedia a fun environment in which to contribute. Until next year. :) SynergeticMaggot (talk) 14:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Research on Kingdom of Humanity

Hmmm. So what is this research you mention? The article is rubbish, no references at all, it should be deleted. Unless there really is evidence. 88.109.209.20 (talk) 16:19, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Um, oh dear, looks like the wiki rules got broken, this seems to have been removed: "-- Please do not remove or change this AfD message until the issue is settled -->"

Hey ho. Has the issue 'been settled' then? 88.109.209.20 (talk) 16:23, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[1] sounds plausible, I admit I am not 100% convinced either. If you still think it should be deleted I can propose you 2 possibilities: you can either register an account and list the article yourself (use {{subst:afd}} and then follow the instriuctions, or you can add your commentary on the article talk page and I'll create the deletion discussion for you. Regards, -- lucasbfr talk 16:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
No I did not complete my listing in fact, the rule is that someone else shouldn't remove the afd notice. -- lucasbfr talk 16:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

OK. I have an account and will proceed as you advise (probably tomorrow my time now). This stuff really needs to be flagged, perhaps all the micronation stuff with a few exceptions like Sealand where they made a big splasg should be conflated? But the trouble is, anyone with a website can make this stuff up and then it sits in Wikipedia as if it;s has some sort of real value...Thank you for the advice.88.109.209.20 (talk) 16:35, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, the website you reference? Not a shred of evidence, just tosh I think. One very important thing to consider here is that the actual status of the Spratlys is of extreme importance to all of us: blurring the issues of who occupies what with spurious fantasy stuff hinders our understanding. This could be the flashpoint area for a major future war. 88.109.209.20 (talk) 16:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Apis O-tang is an apparent vulgarity referencing "A piece of tang." Which someone reported to UAA as offensive. It took me a minute to see it also, but I believe the reporter was correct. KnightLago (talk) 21:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Replied on this user's talk page - 21:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree, I should have given a better explanation. I am a new so I will work it. The reporter was actually another admin for what it's worth. So, I will leave it to your discretion. KnightLago (talk) 21:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks for your comments. As you can see, they haven't done much to convince anyone, but I do appreciate that you took the time to figure out why I did what I did, and you hit the nail right on the head. Thanks. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:France 4.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:France 4.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:25, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Checkuser case 75.58.34.144 filed by User:Arcayne

Regarding your note at:[2]

Is there a formal mechanism to sanction user Arcayne for a false report? My basis is twofold:

    • He failed to present a single diff to support his formal accusation of, ""Ongoing, serious pattern vandalism involving dozens of incidents" and "3RR violation using socks"
    • He was well aware that there was no pretense of more than one individual:
Every other one of the likely socks of the anon show similarly abusive editing patterns, and all use the '♠' as an identifier. Arcayne

By filing a formal charge which he knew to be false and without ANY evidence to support in an effort to ban me he has seriously abused Wiki policy and procedures while wasting the good faith efforts of people like yourself. 75.57.165.180 (talk) 17:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

With respect, please don't assume what I know/knew/will ascertain, anon. You were reported because you were editing under a number of different anons, including, concealing your identity and edit history. To whit, complaints on your other anon IP addresses (1, 2, 3, 4) do not show up on your rebooted IP account. This may all be coincidental, but with your accompanying rancor and unfriendly edits, it cast your actions in an extremely poor light. Thus, the checkuser report. If you are willing to keep the same account and be polite, we can reboot our relationship and interaction with one another. If you choose not to do any of that, you will likely find yourself the subject of another RfCU or administrative report. That is not a threat, mind you - it is an eventuality. There are editors who assume far less good faith than myself. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 21:08, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I have read both your messages. I unfortunately don't have the right to comment on the merits of open Checkuser cases. -- lucasbfr talk 22:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Unblocked Autoblock

Thank you! Springnuts (talk) 19:42, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Curious why this was done this way

This is off-topic from the TfD but I was curious: Why did you recommend User:Cayman Islands Civil Service College create a new account rather than renaming? The old account had edits but the user is indef blocked, that seems kind of unusual.--Doug.(talk contribs) 17:03, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the Help for Unblocking

Whew! Not a very techie person so kind of confused when that happened. Thanks for solving the problem. Cheers. --Mattissa (talk) 11:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

RFA thanks

Thanks for your support in my RFA, that didn't quite make it and ended at 120/47/13. There was a ton of great advice there, that I'm going to go on. Maybe someday. If not, there are articles to write! Thanks for your support. Lawrence § t/e 18:07, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

IndiaFM images

Hello Lucasbfr, my name is Rahul Zinta (BOLLYWOOD DREAMZ). I uploaded the images onto the site. Since you removed the "OTRS pending" tag, does that mean that the images have been aproved?? P.S. My account just logged off like that. --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 20:55, 13 April 2008

You've got mail :) Yes they are approved (There's a small tweak to do though, if you have the time). -- lucasbfr talk 21:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
LOL... I didn't know that you didn't have a talk account on Commons so when I clicked on your talk page, it lead me to your Wikipedia talk page. That is why, my first message to you wasn't by my account. P.S. Doesn't "author" mean who uploaded it and where?? For example, take a look at this. Thanks for your help with this. Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 21:11, 13 April 2008

Identity verification

I don't know who sent "verification" that User:Kurtlockwood was the real person... but I can assure you that it is not. I do see that they have noted that it is believed to be a sockpuppet account of Tausor.. which I have suspected also. We have been battling vandalism on this page for months now by the same person.I was just curious what was sent to supposedly verify identity, Thanks Countrypaula (talk) 05:27, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I will look further into it today, please stand by :) -- lucasbfr talk 07:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Lucas:

We got your email request on the website and will send official confirmation that this is not Kurt tonight (as you said on another talk page, this isn't a website that should be accessed at work). Thanks for your help! Claire999 (talk) 19:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Email sent to Nick. Thank you again for your help! Claire999 (talk) 03:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

My uploaded files

Hi, I just saw your message and I'm hre to reply. Well, I'm not going to discuss abou them. I'm really upset because of the files we user upload in Wikipedia or Commons. We really look for to use them in the best ways, but administrators often "create" something to delete them. Sorry, if I'm being rude, but this is true. ABout the pics, the red panda I got the license from Ryonouske to use whatever Red Panda pictures that belong to him http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Pandas_vermelho.jpg Red Panda. Brian Littrell, GWen Stefabi, Jeff Timmons, Backstreet Boys are official photoshoots made for promote their albuns . Martin, Johnny are actor and do photoshoot to promote themselves either. So aren't these fair-use? Mariah's one is from a magazine, this one I think we can't use as I read wikipedia's policies. Anyway, do whateva you must. I'm not going to stress myself with this. I do what I can to make wikipedia's article great and this is simply despised. I'm gonna focus myself only on doing articles at wikipedias in portuguese now. Well...sorry for anything...

No Title

This is NOT vandalism. I am reporting you to an admin for your post. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 20:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Nope, that edit summary is actually wrong. I only added my section, and nothing else. Check the text yourself. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 20:51, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

It's ok. Was annoyed at being labelled a vandal, so sorry about the original message. I would be greatful if you could look into it. As far as I can see I cotnravine no copyright or veriability policy. The bot seems to go out and remove all YouTube links. Really stupid of the person who made it. Thanks for the help. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 21:05, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, but these guidelines states that an aticle should not be:

1."Mere collections of external links or Internet directories". The DMG article has links at the bottom after a lengthy article, therefore does not contravene this principle.

2."Mere collections of internal links." Nope, it is not.

3. "Mere collections of public domain or other source material". Nope, again.

4. "Mere collections of photographs or media files with no text to go with the articles." There is substantial text in the article.

Ultimately, the videos give the reader the spirit of the Gala that the text could never evoke. It contravenes no guidelines as far as I can see. Certainly not the ones above that you cited. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 21:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, the guidelines state that "excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia." There is nothing about "Wikipedia is aiming as having as few external links as possible" - this is a very misleading thing to say. 88.107.110.247 (talk) 21:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Block on Shapiros10/

You posted in User:Chris is my name:

This user is a sock puppet of Shapiros10, and has been blocked indefinitely.
Please refer to Checkuser for evidence. See block log and current autoblocks.

I am unable to find a record of a CheckUser for this user or Shapiros10, would you mind providing the link? --Marcinjeske (talk) 04:58, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Replied on this user's talk page - 11:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, the link was useful. The issue is moot anyway as Shapiros10 seems to have requested leave of Wikipedia (at least his user page was deleted with that reason given). I was just concerned that the single contrib by User:Chris is my name was not obvious sockpuppetry. Thank you for setting my mind at ease. --Marcinjeske (talk) 04:47, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
