Block of Meikeric
[edit]Excuse me for my inturruption good sir. My user, meikeric was just block by you for 72 hours. I wish to file a protest against this. I contributed valuable content to two articles. One being the Outer Banks article consisting of information on the seasonality of weather patterns on the Outer Banks due to it's geographical location as well as an external link to a site providing web cams of the Outer Banks. Both of this I feel is relevant and adds quality to this particular article. Unfortunately, I got into a revert war with CutOffTies, as she feels that the external link qualifies as spam. However, this page serves as a good resource to wiki users to get a live view of a place they are interested in that they may not think to search for through traditional sources. Honestly though, isn't this what the spirit of Wikipedia is about? Discovery of resources on the Internet. The other article was about the Wright Brothers National Memorial. I added an external link directly to a web can pointing directly at this memorial. Which I feel is highly relevant and interesting.
Therefore, I respectfully ask that my account be unbanned. However, if you feel that is not the correct action and I should continue to be blocked than I ask that CutOffTies be blocked for the same amount of time as a punishment for revert warring should be dolled out equally.
Thank you for your time, Meikeric —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.205.14.99 (talk) 22:38, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Dolza from Robotech Macross.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Dolza from Robotech Macross.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:29, 10 February 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Courcelles 04:29, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Permission for image
[edit]Dear Sir/Madam I am currently in post production on feature film which cost us a total of $2000 it is super low budget and I humbly request the permission of a certain pic from your site because of the low budget nature of the film we only intend it to go into local festivals and can't realistically see it going into anything big, the certain pic is crucial to the plot and there is no other one that exists. Please consider this request as it would be much appreciated

Fraternal twins
[edit]I'm new to wiki, so I hope I'm using this page correctly! I have noticed that your picture of fraternal twins shows what appears to be monozygotic twins. What evidence do you have that these twins are dizygotic? Has there been genetic testing? Thanks. Stickerella (talk) 19:28, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
Twins
[edit]Hi! Thanks for your reply! I would say, with 99.99% certainty, that your twins are monozygotic (identical). Many ob/gyns and ultrasound techs are misinformed about twins, chorions, placentas, etc. They mistakenly believe that two placentas or amnions indicates fraternals, while it can be either. Clues can be found in the fingerprints, ear shape, irises, hair crowns, etc. With your twins, the outside observer can clearly see that they are monozygotic...they are quite obviously identical, though environment is slowly and gradually creating differences in the physical appearance. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, too, now understand that their physical differences do not mean they are fraternals, but mirror image twins (discussed on a recent episode of Ellen). It's just a misunderstanding that caused their mislabelling. Twins are fascinating! I do, however, think that there's a fair bit of misinformation about zygosity floating about, mostly caused by well meaning doctors who tell folks that their infants are fraternal or identical without genetic testing. Thanks for listening! Stickerella (talk) 17:52, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
The article Soviet aircraft carrier Kiev (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unneccessary DAB page. Hatnotes now added to the two articles disambiguated here.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Haruth (talk) 19:50, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Hocking River at Logan, Ohio.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Hocking River at Logan, Ohio.jpg, which you've sourced to Dustin M. Ramsey. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sreejith K (talk) 06:19, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
- Neither party was 'wasting time' in this - the note on the deletion is (I hope) a note to the restoring admin that there weren't any other issues with the image, it was just lacking the otrs ticket. Quite often there will be additional notes (like 'source needed', ORFUD, or other cryptic wikispeak stuff) that give a 'heads up' to other admins about the state of the image. Please correct the Jabiluka image
[edit]Hi Kralizec, I would like to compliment you on your good work, but would also like to ask if you would correct the name and description of your image of Jabiluka mine. You have named it Ranger 3 which it is not, Jabiluka is a separate lease currently controlled by the same company, but separate all the same. Also your description says that it is part of Kakadu National Park which it is not. It is surrounded by Kakadu as is the Ranger lease and mine, but both leases were created before the park and remain separate from it. Cheers, Owen Djapa Owen 22:34, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- Update, since you did not have time to change this I put in a new image which I labelled correctly, so now nothing need be done. Djapa Owen 10:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

MSU Interview
[edit]Dear Kralizeci,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
The Bugle: Issue LXXI, February 2012

Java Scriptus
[edit]This user, whom you blocked in 2009, is asking for an unblock, claiming the alleged vandalism was a misunderstanding (it seems it could have been). He does not appear ever to have been warned about this, either. Could you take a look? Daniel Case (talk) 18:16, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Java scriptus (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) continued to disruptively edit articles after receiving four escalating warnings. Those warnings do not appear on the user's talk page because it was deleted in March 2009. Given the nature of this person's edits (complete with false edit summaries) I am disinclined to believe his or her claims of ignorance, especially since the editor proceeded to do the exact same changes via 76.109.120.66 (talk · contribs · info · WHOIS) once the Java scriptus account was blocked (compare Java scriptus versus 76.109.120.66). — Kralizec! Abuse Filter on the Article Feedback Tool
[edit]Hey there :). You're being contacted because you're an edit filter manager, At the moment, we're developing Version 5 of the Article Feedback Tool, which you may or may not have heard about. If you haven't; for the first time, this will involve a free-text box where readers can submit comments :). Obviously, there's going to be junk, and we want to minimise that junk. To do so, we're working the Abuse Filter into the tool.
For this to work, we need people to write and maintain filters. I'd be very grateful if you could take a look at the discussion here and the attached docs, and comment and contribute! Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:21, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Urgent Help and Warning
[edit]Urgent Help and Warning: the IP address, 212.121.219.1 is engaging in serious hacking activities, not just simple acts of vandalism in the other Wikipedia encyclopedias.
Warning: the IP address, 212.121.219.1 registered to Oldham MBC public libraries, and which is permanently blocked in English Wikipedia since 2009, is the source of serious hacking activities. Today on 14 May 2012 other vulnerable Wikipedia encyclopedias are under attack from this address where it is not blocked. This source is capable of hacking Wikipedia, as it is the case today in the other Wikipedia encyclopedias, because it has erased the history archives for instance in the Azerbaijan articles of the Wikipedia encyclopedias and is doing it in other country articles as well, which no simple vandal can do. This source is freely roaming and usurping right now.
Can anyone inform the administrators of the other Wikipedia encyclopedias and help them against the IP address, 212.121.219.1, because most of the small Wikipedia encyclopedias are vulnerable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.224.23.137 (talk) 21:55, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. Sreejith K (talk) 01:16, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

The return of HeadMouse
[edit]I read through HeadMouse and Knotslanding's post history, and I agree, they're very close to what we're seeing out of Crazy Blue Eyes. At the very minimum, it passes the duck test. I'm all but tempted to go ahead and file a SPI report on this one. Thoughts, opinions? --McDoobAU93 04:53, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- My thought and opinion is that you need to stop trying to make shit up to find a reason to attack me just because you don't like my edits on an article. I have been a member on Wikipedia for a long time now. I have edited many articles. Now just because YOU have a problem with some of my edits on this article, you're trying to claim some crap to get me blocked. Why don't you find something better to do with your time. - Wrong again. You falsely made claims against me with no real proof. Your "duck" test is crap. As I have posted above. Just because someone makes a post similar to another person does not make them that person. I have looked into this case and HeadMouse's history and such. He stayed on the monorail article. I have contributed to many other articles. He was blocked in 2008. I didn't join till 2010. He was very vocal. I have not been near as vocal. McDoobAU93, I can apply the DUCK test to you as an administrator. You bold faced lied to me about not being one. But you act like a jerk, you treat others like crap, and you threaten people with no reason. You MUST be an administrator. Crazy Blue Eyes2 (talk) 18:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Naval History
[edit]Aye there, 'Kralizec!', I'm a member of WikiProject Ships. To help naval historians here at Wikipedia in the effort of writing and citing naval history articles sometime ago I created the List of ships captured in the 19th century and Bibliography of early American naval history pages. Over the last year(+) I have been tracking down and including names of captured ships and naval history texts for inclusion in either of these articles. I like to think that I have included most captured ships (19th century) and most naval history texts (covering the 1700s-1800s) for inclusion in these articles, so if you know of any captured ships or naval history texts that are not included would you kindly include them, either on the page or the talk page of the appropriate article? Any help would be a big help and feedback is always welcomed. Thanx! -- Gwillhickers (talk) 21:50, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Inappropriate vandal warning
[edit]You recently determined that vandalism warnings given to User talk:165.138.93.203 were "inappropriate". I don't see any 4im warnings given to this user as you suggested. The user has been given multiple warnings leading up to v4 warnings. Can you explain how the process should be followed? In the meantime, since my report this user is continuing his activity at least twice more in the past hour. — DeeJayK (talk) 19:22, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- @DeeJayK Thank you for reaching out to me, and my apologies for not being more specific; I was referring to the immediate jump to a level-4 warning [2]. Unless the exact same article is being vandalized for weeks, given the massively shared nature of many IPs, warnings issued to unregistered editors typically reset to level-1 at the beginning of each new calendar month. As such, the first warning should have been a {{uw-vandalism1}}, the second a {{uw-vandalism2}}, while the third was correctly issued as a {{uw-vandalism3}}. Please note that I have little tolerance for vandals myself (as the thousands of vandalism blocks I have performed will attest in my admin log), however WP:AGF and WP:BITE require us to follow the process and give editors a chance before blocking. Regardless, I would like to thank you for your efforts at containing vandalism! — Kralizec! (talk) 19:55, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow the logic of vandalism warning levels being "reset" based on a calendar month -- that seems quite arbitrary to me. Further, I can't find any documentation of the vandalism process that refers to this "reset" of vandalism warning levels. That said, I understand the concept that warnings should increase in severity. In this particular case, the most recent notification prior to this vandal coming to my attention was a V3. Thus, my first warning was a V4. Since then I've added another V4. And since I reported this user, he's committed another act (which I warned at V3 due to your rebuke) and has contacted me on my talk page to ask me to leave him alone. Meanwhile in the time since this user came to my attention he has made NO constructive edits of any sort. I'd ask that you re-consider the block request. — DeeJayK (talk) 20:05, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- Since your level-3 warning at 15:17, the IP has not vandalized a single article. That sounds like mission accomplished to me, because the IP took heed of your warnings! As per WP:BLOCK#NOTPUNITIVE, blocks are preventative, not punitive. — Kralizec! (talk) 20:17, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm sure that's all it took. Thanks for your help! — DeeJayK (talk) 20:19, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

- Since I am not on Oversight, you will want to go to WP:OV for that request. — Kralizec! (talk) 14:23, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Ah ok, the RevDel page says "Any administrator may handle RevisionDelete requests made by users" so I thought you were able to do so. Shearonink (talk) 14:31, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I can delete them, but given their extreme content, my guess was that you wanted them suppressed instead. — Kralizec! (talk) 14:35, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Ah yes...well, I just wanted it gone...For good (sometimes the specific Wiki-nomenclature trips me up). In any case, it's now been taken care of. Thanks again, Shearonink (talk) 14:40, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Is there an automated way for you or another admin to revert all of the edits made by this IP?Hoops gza (talk) 19:03, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- @Hoops gza: While I am not enough of a subject matter expert on this topic to make the determination myself, if you are 100% sure that 100% of the edits made by the IP are detrimental, you may request a WP:MASSROLLBACK. — Kralizec! (talk) 19:15, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
I believe that 95% of the IP's edits are detrimental. I would like to request a massrollback. Then I will undo the 5% that are not detrimental.Hoops gza (talk) 20:43, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- Done — Kralizec! (talk) 02:03, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
Several of its edits still appear to be there. Would that be because it no longer has the top edit on most of the pages that it edited?Hoops gza (talk) 16:45, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, that is correct. Rollback only zaps edits that are the most recent to the page. Otherwise you have to go back and try to undo them. — Kralizec! (talk) 16:51, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for helping me out where you could. I shall get on the rest of that in a few.Hoops gza (talk) 18:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Sockpuppet
[edit]Hi, thanks for blocking user:Gololur. Now I believe he has returned with an other name user:Galastuff as a sockpuppet editing the exact same articles in disruptive way (he has now two accounts blocked for this, user:Gololur and user:Sinevik). I have opened SPI at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Gololur for days ago at which no one seems to answer. Do you know what else I can do? Should this new editor also be blocked (without good evidence he is actually sock)? Thanks in advance for all answers. QED237 (talk) 21:30, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Your concept of "derivative works" is wrong (?)
[edit]Hello You put the following notice on your picture of a Midden ( http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Whaleback_Shell_Midden_gully_-_20070722_07986.JPG ):
"You may NOT use this image on your own web site or anywhere else unless you release this image and any derivative works (which may include the web page or other medium where this image is used, if it is not considered a "collective work") by following the terms of the following license. Any other use will be considered a breach of copyright and I reserve the right of legal action. Please do not copy this image illegally by ignoring the terms of the license, as it is not in the public domain."
A derivative work would be if someone changed anything in the photo, cropped, translated (where possible), adjusted bright, and so on. If someone copy the photo "as is", it's not a derivative work.
Please read the article here: http://mollykleinman.com/2008/10/20/cc-howto-no-derivatives/
It's about the NoDerivatives, in which the author (copyright specialist) says:
"Examples of things that are not adaptations as defined by the ND license:
- Including a short story in a collection of short stories
- - Reproducing an unedited image on a website
- - Using an unedited video in the background of a live concert"
Using an unedited image is not an adaption, thus the page where it was published is not a derivative work either.
Here's another article about this: http://www.plagiarismtoday.com/2010/01/12/how-to-correctly-use-creative-commons-works/ read the "Derivative Work" section.
But i'm curious, could you provide us more legal info about your statement?
Thank you!

Hi Kralizec, I've reduced the full protection you placed on Wikipedia:Terms of use (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) as I can't see how full protection would be warranted by the protection policy in it's current form. Hope you don't mind. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 05:37, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
176.253.72.144 Block
[edit]Hello Kralizec! I placed the abovementioned IP on the block request because of constant vandalism per their contribs. I am unsure as to why others did not warn them because one look at their history and you can see it is a constant vandal. Am I wrong in thinking that they must still be continually warned even though the rules say that they don't even need to be warned when there is blatant vandalism? I would just like some clarification to that so that I do not do this again if that be the case. Thanks for your help--Canyouhearmenow 14:38, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. The vast majority of admins require that editors receive multiple levels of escalating warnings -with new warnings only being issued when previous warnings have been ignored and more vandalism takes place- before a block is issued.
- A good example is 122.168.59.248 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log). The IP vandalized at 08:52 [3] and received a level-1 warning [4], ignored to vandalize at 09:12 [5] and received a level-2 warning [6], ignored it again to vandalize at 09:17 [7] and received a level-3 warning [8], ignored it to vandalize at 09:57 [9] and received a level-4 warning [10]. The IP then ignored the warnings to vandalize again at 10:11 [11], was reported to AIV [12], and blocked at 10:13 [13].
- Hope this helps. — Kralizec! (talk) 00:55, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification! Always wanting to do the right thing.Canyouhearmenow 01:08, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

talk page 68.50.21.190
[edit]Hello. I read what you wrote. I did not know there is an actual policy about this(blanking). I am deleting because Bill insulted me, saying I don't speak English,my English is poor, go edit wikipedia in my native language. Read my talk page. This is the first interaction and it sets the tone for the rest, so no more interactions. That is why I removed all posts from Bill. Anything that needs to be seen is in the history. I just want to not be in the fire. I feel like it was fun for he editors/admins as many were just insulting me. Is that necessary? I have seen notices about civility but apparently admins are exempt? When I asked about this I was followed by one ofthe ones who insulted me and they commented that I am an ip editor who was recently blocked. So what ? I dont have to have an account to edit so why does me not having an account matter ? Does me being an ip editor mean I am allowed to be disrespected ? 68.50.21.190 (talk) 14:09, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Please tell bill to stop. Bill told me my english sucks. That is rude and you all may not think so but it is. I do not wish to interact with this person. Please tell them to stop writing me. Stop please. 68.50.21.190 (talk) 18:25, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Quamzin Kravshera
[edit]The article Quamzin Kravshera has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) and Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Invitation to subscribe to the edit filter mailing list
[edit]Hi, as a user in the edit filter manager user group we wanted to let you know about the new wikipedia-en-editfilters mailing list. As part of our recent efforts to improve the use of edit filters on the English Wikipedia it has been established as a venue for internal discussion by edit filter managers regarding private filters (those only viewable by administrators and edit filter managers) and also as a means by which non-admins can ask questions about hidden filters that wouldn't be appropriate to discuss on-wiki. As an edit filter manager we encourage you to subscribe; the more users we have in the mailing list the more useful it will be to the community. If you subscribe we will send a short email to you through Wikipedia to confirm your subscription, but let us know if you'd prefer another method of verification. I'd also like to take the opportunity to invite you to contribute to the proposed guideline for edit filter use at WP:Edit filter/Draft and the associated talk page. Thank you! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Phillips Corners
[edit]Thanks! I noticed it yesterday by accident, having not been told about it beforehand; I was glancing around the Main Page, noticed the image, thought "that looks vaguely familiar", and upon seeing the TFA title, realised that it indeed was my image. Quite a surprise, as I would have expected them to pick an image dating from the war period, not 180 years later, but I'm not complaining :-)
The picture was taken for a project page, User:Nyttend/Ohio, with which I'd quite appreciate your help if you're interested. This page is a list of all municipalities and townships statewide that don't have a representative photo; I've been working on removing items from the list (on the day I took the photo, I got all the remaining Fulton County locations), but I'm basically the only one, so what help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Of course, most images of northwestern Ohio that you uploaded years ago are still in place (Antwerp and Tontogany come to mind immediately), so I'm already quite appreciative. DYK for Southern Beekeeper's Nature Reserve
[edit]On 26 February 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Southern Beekeeper's Nature Reserve, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Southern Beekeeper's Nature Reserve had no official name when it was gazetted in 1979, but had been used for beekeeping for generations? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Southern Beekeeper's Nature Reserve. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

A few years ago, you sorted out some vandalism at the wiki page for Kevin Coughlin, a former Ohio state senator. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Kevin_Coughlin You removed a section from it that was poorly sourced contained inaccurate info. It seems the people responsible for this are at it again, this time making statements and using two links as references that go to empty pages.
I have removed them. However, I expect the info to be republished. Rather than continue the back and forth, is there another solution?
Thanks for taking a look at it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coughlinohio (talk • contribs) 05:01, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Use of your Seneca gift shop image in a music video
[edit]Mr. Ramsey,
I would like to use your image of the Seneca Caverns tourist gift shop as a background for approximately five seconds in a music video I'm producing. The video itself will be on YouTube, for free, but will be eligible for ads.
You will be credited along with every other image/photo copyright-holder during the credits at the end of the video.
Please let me know if this is satisfactory.

Extended confirmed protection
[edit]Hello, Kralizec!. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
[edit]Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
[edit]Hi Kralizec!.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

I am new to wikipedia and was trying to create a page for my band "Kara Mosher" www.karamosher.com. My debut album is being released via itunes, etc. January 13th. I wrote a single sentence so far, but wanted to write more when I realized my page had been deleted ( Kara Mosher) . I also tried to add a photo, but without success.
Another user suggested I find someone from this list to add the article for me.

un-sourced BLP-violating text on page
[edit]Hello. This message is in regard to https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Kevin_Coughlin. Over the years there appears to have been a war of insertion and deletion of un-sourced BLP-violating text on this page.
Specifically: "A 2008 Cleveland Independent article alleging that Coughlin had an extra-marital affair with a staffer, at times taking her to Ohio State football games using money from his campaign accounts. The article also revealed that the Summit County Sheriff's Office was investigating Coughlin for allegedly altering petition ballots [7]" Clicking the citation reveals that no such source exists. This should be removed and blocked from being re-published.
In addition: "Coughlin threatened to sue the author, but the author sued him, eventually dropping the charges.[8]" The article linked to this statement does not, in fact, report that Coughlin threatened to sue the author. It says that the plaintiff and his attorney accused Coughlin of the threatening legal action. Big difference and not portrayed factually on the Wiki page. Again,, this should be removed and blocked from being republished.
It appears that attempts to correct this type of violation in the past have been corrected by Wiki administrators. However, the items listed above continue to be an issue.
Thanks for your consideration — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tombraider44303 (talk • contribs) 18:54, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
March Madness 2017
[edit]G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

Proposed deletion of Quamzin Kravshera
[edit]The article Quamzin Kravshera has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. edit to Chagrin Falls, Ohio, page
[edit]I probably added a person to the most famous people of Chagrin Falls list. Will Stanton, the person I added, was a well-published writer of humor from the early 1950s until his death in 1996. He was published in Reader's Digest, Woman's Day, Ladies' Home Journal, Saturday Evening Post, etc, regularly and was known around the world because of the RD distribution. The fans on his Facebook page, "Will Stanton, author", are from several countries and include many people who fondly remember his writing. He published many dozens of short stories and articles, and four books, one being made into a Disney movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lindaestantonfrench (talk • contribs) 11:46, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting
[edit]As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

User group for Military Historians
[edit]Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

- I think we edit-clashed at AIV, because I actually removed that report (before the bot would have gotten it), but I'm guessing you had already found it and were in the process of blocking. Ugghhh... one of the rare times an IP is removing over 75k bytes from a page while using an edit summary like "Something wrong" and it's NOT vandalism. Home Lander (talk) 17:01, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive
[edit]G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
- updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
[edit]ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Oklahoma City National Memorial viewed from the south showing the memorial chairs, Gate of Time, Reflecting Pool, and Survivor Tree.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Oklahoma City National Memorial viewed from the south showing the memorial chairs, Gate of Time, Reflecting Pool, and Survivor Tree.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Request for copy of deleted article
[edit]Hi there!
I am hoping you might be able to provide me with a copy of the article on Michael A. Aquino. I have been working on a draft article on the subject that I hope will meet Wikipedia's standards, and if there is anything useful in the deleted article I hope I might be able to use it as a resource (not just citing the old article directly in the new one, to be clear!). I want to have a solid foundation of a draft article before I plead my case for undeletion :)
(FYI, just for context, I believe the article's original deletion was done at the request of the subject, Aquino, himself, likely due to unsourced or poorly-sourced claims which did not meet BLP requirements. Aquino has since died, and is no longer a "LP". I don't know how this affects things, necessarily, but seems to me worth mentioning)
Cheers, --De Insomniis (talk) 23:25, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

IP Block
[edit]I saw that you blocked the problematic IP who had been regularly vandalizing the Tim Walz article here. That editor switches between what appear to be two static IPs--the one you blocked, and this one, as both only make silly edits to that page about Walz and Beijing and communism. If you could sweep up the second IP, too, it'd be much appreciated; meanwhile, I've asked for page protection to be reestablished at WP:RFPP. Thanks. Grandpallama (talk) 16:18, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now.
